Professor Sauer is a great instructor, he uses the point system and his exams can either make you or brake you. He gives plenty of extra credit so take advantage. I wish he taught the higher division sciences, I would take him again.

Took him for fall and at first got a D on the test but studied and passed with B's. Lots of homework that was super easy that really brings up your grade. Never bought the lab book, just took pictures of someone else and wrote it on paper. Super easy. Does have an accent but nothing you can't get through. Lecture had lots of info but you'll be fine

I really enjoyed taking Dr. Sauer's class. New flash to lazy people, this is a pre req for nursing majors so it is not going to be an easy A. Read your book, pay attention to lecture, and ask the professor if you are unclear on anything. He is passionate, caring, and an amazing teacher. I really loved his class. I am taking him for physio also.

I took Professor Sauer during the summer. Physiology during the summer is INTENSE! Extra credit was INSANE, though! He is a good dude. Study smart and you'll do fine.

Lectures were very long and could be boring. Tests were also very long. Although they both were long i really enjoyed taking his class. He has a funny sense of humor and while lab is going on he will walk around and interact with students. He responds to emails promptly as well as grades quickly. Hes really awesome!

Tests are tough and lectures are long. However if you study outside the class, you will pass with no issues.

Biology is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Thanks to Dr. Sauer, I was able to pass with an A. He is very understanding and is willing to help you when you need it. If you work hard to pass, he will be more than willing to help you pass. Make sure you do your part though. He knows when you're not trying.

Be prepared when taking his class. He is good and fair. Lectures can be long but, it is beneficial to the class, after all it is anatomy. The homework can be a lot but it is worth a lot of points! You have to study a lot and put forth the effort and time. I recommend taking this class alone because it is a lot of studying.

I loved this class and Dr. Sauer does a pretty good job at teaching it. There are a lot of notes and lecture slides that he goes through and the tests are far off of the study guide but he does give plenty of opportunities for extra credit as long as you come to class. Didn't really used the lecture book but the lab book is definitely a necessity.

Dr. Sauer is an amazing professor. Lectures are heavy but the material are in tests. He gives plenty of extra credit so make sure to show up to class everyday. Also, make sure to befriend your lab partners. They could really help you and you could help them.

Sauer is an amazing professor, his lectures are long so expect to be there the entire time. He seems tough but is really a teddy bear, DO THE QUIZZES. Their all extra credit dont blow them off because then you wont even have to worry about the big tests. Hes hilarious, really get to know him he goes the extra mile for his students, always helps!

An amazing teacher! He was so funny and had a good personality. Has a very strong accent, but nothing you can't get used to. Pay attention to his study guides. Make sure you pay attention to the lectures and READ THE BOOK. It helps SO much.

Very sweet and understanding professor. He allowed us to watch the lectures on our own time, even though he would go live on zoom at the scheduled class time. His lectures, homework and study guide reflected exactly what the tests and practicals were based on. It's impossible to fail if you take the time to use the resources he provides.

Professor Sauer is a good grader but the exams/quizzes can be kind of hard so make sure to study before hand. Also provides everything when labeling so you do not have to be looking for it. Everything is overall easy if you follow the book, I would give him a 2 difficulty but because of the exams it's a 3.

Professor Sauer teaches a very intense, 5 unit physiology class, so of course this class is going to take some work. But, he did a really amazing job of explaining everything in detail, provided a lot of info to us, and has an incredibly vast knowledge of this information. I feel privileged to have been in his class, and I learned a lot from him.

Professor Sauer is an exceptional professor, he gives a lot of lab reports and when you receive a poor grade he will take time out of his day to explain what you did wrong and gives you another chance to resubmit it for a better grade. Always on time for class and his grading criteria is clear. Tests are had but it is a hard subject.

Took professor Sauer for Micro. Awesome professor! Knows his stuff. Gives you everything you need for the class. He puts time and effort into his class. Be respectful and do the same! Do your assignments, all of it! Trust the process ! A lot of people dropped the first few classes sessions... their mistake! Lol

Doctor Sauer is a casual funny guy. The Class was lecture heavy but labs were always fun and interesting. I was always laughing in this class. Be ready to read and study. Testing was hard. I would recommend his classes. He never said attendance was mandatory but i missed one class and fell behind. Attend class and study

The BEST teacher I've had at VVC. He's not only extremely helpful, but he is really funny as well. A LOT of studying but you can't expect less from a class like Microbio. Doesn't grade on attendance, but if you don't attend you will fall behind. Just study and pay attention during lecture and labs. You couldn't ask for a better Prof. for Microbio.

Honestly I was so afraid of taking Microbiology but Dr. Sauer made it such an enjoyable experience. Hes kind and understanding and answers all your questions. He helps you out a lot in a very difficult class. I highly recommend him.

TAKE HIS CLASS!!! I have been to many colleges and his class is beyond easy. Don't let the first day or quiz scare you. Lectures are LONG but he doesn't make you learn all of them. He gives you a study PowerPoint that is EXACTLY what's on the tests. Study for quizzes because they are all extra credit and never bring your grade down.

Super smart Biology professor! Human bio over the summer and enjoyed his class. Relatively heavy German accent but very understandable. He is lecture and powerpoint heavy, however, he is very good at explaining very all the concepts as well as drawing diagrams on the board which help with visualization. "Don't forget to buy the premium pkg!" LOL

i really liked this teacher, the grading was very easy it was an easy pass. The only thing i hated was lecture was 3 hours long and on lab days sometimes you would get out early if you finished which was nice. I would recommend this teacher and would take another one of his classes

Very straightforward class, had him lecture only so can't rate on personality, however, is very crisp and knowledgeable. He is quick with responses, but constantly provides feedback. Lectures are a little boring, but I feel he definitely wishes for the class to pass. Tests are accurate to knowledge provided and truly are a response of content.

Very heavy on working for your own grade and does not micromanage everything you do.

Hes such a good professor he is very lenient and works with you. 10/10 would take him again! Just focus on the class and youll be good and you can ask him anything and he responds quick.

I loved his class, I learned so much. His class is hard, but if you study you will pass. He cracked a lot of jokes and always made me laugh. He is very kind and offers to help you if you are struggling. I am going to miss this class, and highly recommend taking it.

Best professor I have ever had!

I took Sauer's online BIOL-107 class.Professor S. provided clear, thorough feedback and was easily accessible through Canvas, as this was an online class. With any questions I had and help I needed, he provided an answer and the help which allowed me to become more successful throughout the term with this course.

I highly recommend this instructor. Initially, I felt a little uneasy taking this class, but it soon passed. His labs are challenging, but if you put in the effort, you can finish them. His lectures are lengthy, but informative. Additionally, you must be present in his class because he occasionally grants extra credit if you are.

Great professor

As a university student who took this class during a gap year, this class is way easier than most upper-div biology classes. Sauer is very caring, helps you w/ labs, responds to emails quickly, and makes accomodations for students, quizzes were extra cred! Class was lecture heavy, but I passed the class easily by memorizing his concise reviews.

Tough material, not a tough professor. Funny/passive aggressive. Study if you want a good grade and go to every class, it matters. Remember as much material as you could for final exams. You're on your own for every exam but you get mandatory extra credit after to increase your score. Complete labs and you'll be fine!

this was a really really good teacher not only did I take him for bio 100 but this class as well and hybrid during winter semester and I loved him he's so easy with his grading and he's so easy with his assignments.

One of the best professors I've had. Participation is a must. He challenges students to truly understand the concepts rather than short term memorization. Relaxed professor and is great about his feedback to students. A lot of extra credit opportunities as well. Lectures can be heavy, but the content itself is digestible. Great professor!

Dr Sauer is the best teacher I've ever had. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS IN PERSON! There's a lot of work. I recommend answering the questions on the lab exercises BEFORE you get to class or you will fall behind on them and you're going to want to pull your hair out. Exams & quizzes are written out. You can study the study guides while he lectures.

I almost didn't take this class due to the reviews but I'm glad I did. I loved it. Take it in-person. Only 5 people dropped and the rest of us (23) passed with A's and B's and a couple C's. I hope your class is as much fun as ours was. We almost got matching tattoos, I couldn't convince anyone to do it with me though. BIOL-221-70003 FOREVER! LOL

This professor is definitely the best to take for Microbiology. I have taken him for Biology and Microbiology and have gotten an A both times. He helps you to learn while challenging you. Highly would recommend. There are two homework assignments that are somewhat long but they are study guides and can be done in one day if you are a procrastinator

I have taken Sauer for every class that I can while always receiving an A. There are two lab exams and 5 unit exams that he provides an exact study guide for. There are two homework assignments that are easy and count as extra credit. All of the quizzes are also extra credit. Highly recommendlectures are boring but he is funny and a great professor

Overall this class was great. If you plan on taking this class you should probably only take this class because it is a lot of work. Although this class is very time consuming, as long as you genuinely try you will pass no doubt! The teacher is very easy to work with.

Microbio has the best lab, so much fun every class session. Great teacher! Take him in person! You won't regret. Extra credit is available. He gives you everything you need to be successful to pass. You get use to his humor. Has become my favorite professor. You do work in groups at times.

Professor Sauer is a great professor. Great sense of humor, class is very organized. Attendance isn't mandatory but YOU WILL FALL BEHIND if you're not there every day. Exams are essay questions, he gives lots of extra credit to compensate for the attrition rate. Give him your best and you will pass, working as a group in labs is crucial as well.

Great professor, quick email responses. Students expect As to be handed out, ¬ earned. Many students cheat and set themselves up for failure in their future academic journey. Sauer uses webcam & lockdown browser along with random environmental scans for exams. External webcam or receive a 0. Follow instructions and do the work and you'll pass.

Work and what's expected is clear. What you put in is what you get out. Not hard if you do everything he asks. Do all quizzes and first lab exam it's extra credit. It all makes sense eventually lol.

Wonderful professor and course. Microbio is a difficult subject, but Dr. Sauer makes it highly digestible. For all quizzes and exams he picks out which lecture slides will be tested so very clear what to study. Labs were fun and easy. It is a lot of small assignments, but you barely have to do work outside class. Everything is generously curved.

Dr. Sauer is a hilarious and smart professor. You must come to class prepared and study for FRQ heavy questions on ALL exams. This gives you as a student the opportunity to show what you know while getting extra credit for what you study for in between exams with quizzes.
