Can anyone make coments on him? NEW PROF.??
Very unclear, and boring. But his tests are easy.
Trimnell has no teaching ability. He is very unhelpful and hardly teaches a topic productively. His use of slides are unrewarding. He is very inefficient and hardly expands on topics. There is no way he should be teaching.
Enjoy his class and good sense of humour.
Just skip class. If you DO go to class, you won't end up learning anything anyway. Read the text and teach yourself.
Very clear, easy to understand, many a nights would stay behind to hel[p me with any questions. Without his help I would've had a lot of trouble passing.
I thought I was going to have a lot of difficulty in this course but this professor made it quite understandable for me.
DON'T TAKE HIS COURSE UNLESS YOU WANT TO STUDY ALL THE WAY BY YOUSELF AND PREPARE TO FAIL
Prepare to make your GPA DROP!!!... ENOUGH SAID
lenient marker, but extremely boring. I mean very, very boring, so it's hard to listen even if he's taeching you something useful. you have to learn the material on your own.
Very nice prof if you take the time to talk to him. Extremely fair, really does mean well but at times may not come out as expected. Just work hard, he wont kill you.
hes an old guy who seems to not like his job. i didnt like him.
Don't take him the wrong way but this professor enjoys helping students, if you ask him. Ya... ECN204 is some what challenging, if you don't enjoy enconomics, but his helpfulness will make you enjoy and see things clearly. Overall good prof. Cheers !!
A lot of students only rate a prof based on whether he/she is easy, if they crack jokes or something like that. This prof knows his stuff, he cares about the students and does a good job. If you are considering taking economics, take Trimnell
There is no point of going to class unless you have super duper hearing.. if you do go do not sit in front of him because I guarantee you will fall asleep. tests are easy though... and if you know economics and finance in general you will easily get a C
don't take his class... you'll end up falling asleep everytime and you'll never know when your midterm will be. on day you'll walk into the class and he gonna hand you a scansheet... drRRRrrRrop it!
Great prof and a nice person. Caring your learning and really willing to help. The test is extremely fair. If you study, you will do well in his class.
A fair professor ,concerns on studetn's study, open up to student's feedbacks. He always tries his best to help students to go through the materials covered in the course. Try the problems the prof assigned you, you should be fine.
He really does seem to dislike his job. Be prepared to study out of a book or a website and go to his class only to get the slide #s to retrieve later from the net (it's not possible to copy anything down in his class)
He is very nice and great prof. He knows his stuff. Test is fair. Take his class, you will learn and enjoy.
He's a nice man. But his lectures are severly boring as he tends to read the Publisher's slides, which are word for word from the textbook. Doesnt really "motivate" one to try hard. Funny thing is, his extension is 6666!
terrible professor. probably the most unprofessional professor i've ever had. he really doesn't seem to like teaching. this class might as well be an online course.
Simply put, this guy doesn't teach. He just reads the slides that is provided by the publisher of the text. He adds no value to the course, which is why only 10 out of 60 students show up to class. Other than that, his tests are easy.
His class is a nice time to watch DVD's on my laptop! Kinda looks like a hamster!
Frank Trimnell is a gentleman, he treats his students with respect, if you do the reading then its interesting to go to class because it helps you. Always available for help, intelligent economist.
Hes a nice guy, jsut a TAD bit boring, and the fact that he doesn't teach AT ALL.
He's a horrible teacher. In fact, he doesn't teach. He just regurgitated the words off the powerpoint presentation that he uses (which are avai online). He's boring and walked out of class because our class wouldn't quiet down. However, he's nice and helpful one and one during his office hours.
What good is a professor who doesnt teach? You ask him for help and his answer is, "Did you read page so and so"? with a reply of yes his answer back is, "Well read it again". If a student shows interest and needs help he should do his job and offer atleast some assistance. Not a good prof!

Hands down, the WORST, ABSOLUTE WORST professor i've ever had. Doesn't teach, looks completely disinterested in the class and smells bad too.
Though he might be a tad boring, I actually understand his lectures. Overall he's a good prof. BTW, it IS boring because economics itself IS boring.
Are you folks for real? You are paying Ryerson to give you a place to watch DVDs? Frank provides an excellent lecture and is a top notch professor. Guess what? You have to do some work too ! This is the real world now. You're not in highschool anymore. Get used to it.
Excellent prof. Highly recommend him.

Not professional. Not enthusiastic. And NOT FUNNY. Someone should take away his diet coke.
He's not a bad Prof, a bit boring but gets his job done, read the text book, and you'll be fine. he's very helpful, especially one on one.
Knows his stuff well. However not very good at explaining stuff. He is very helpful specially in his office.
He is the best Prof. He knows about the materials. If you study the class materials, you will get good mark. Test is fair. Take his class, if you can.
Buuuu!!! Test questions weren't straight forward, they were all tricks!!!
A worst, hopeless prof!
... you know there is no chalk in the class rooms, so dont **** about it ... bring your own ... we're paying for 3 hours a week ... so dont only teach for half that time and teach the course ... not just parts of it
Trimnell knows his stuff but is a very very very monotone man. His tests were o.k but tricky..you could do well..but study..a lot.
incredibly boring. is really rude, fat, and gross. love pop like no other... probably loves crush the most.
he makes some funny comments, if u can catch them. very monotone, doesn't teach very well, he basically just reads from the ppt slides. tests are tricky. economics is very straight forward when u think about it, just read the text.
the man is horrible. So mono tone and not enthusiastic at all. Classes are useless and final exam very hard. Highly suggest getting out of his class!!
He cuts out the crap that you don't need to know and gets to the meat of the topic. Don't really need to read the textbook if you attend class. Very helpful outside of class and flexible with students.
Fine overall.
Worst prof ever, dosnt answer questions, hard midterms and an extremely hard exam. does not answer questions.. the worst
very helpful, knows his stuff, easy marker, huge british accent, teaches boring material don't expect fun, like enthusiastic students
His tests range from easy to very difficult. Classes, he just reads off the textbook PPT slides. Not very helpful. I went to each class but I still had to read the text 2 or 3 times. Takes up problems in the one hour class which is great. He explains the answers to problems well and doesn't expect you to be a math superstar.
This guy was not very good at all. Even in a tiny classroom of maybe 40 people, he was extremely monotone. As well, he takes the projector slides off too quickly...I always missed something while copying it down. Always let us leave very early. Economics is hard/dry as it is, so Frank only makes things more complex than they should be.
He is a jerk. His lectures were the most boring ones ever. Every once in a while he snaps in class yelling at people who are using their laptop or have the newspaper on the table. Avoid him!
Pleasant guy. Hard tests. Show up for class; worth it. Considerate about helping individual students who don't understand. Stereotypical British hard-bitten prof with a heart of gold. 8/10
Course is not hard, but it's boring. Attendance matters because he weighs more on the final if u do well. The prof also gives out hint for test/exam in class. Tests are M/C, Short Answers and essays. M/C's are test bank Q's. S/A's are definitions, make sure you hit the key words. Essays require to analyze and do calculations. His marking is fair.
Horrible prof. He puts up overheads with tiny print, and by the time you can focus your eyes to read it he'll have the next slide up. Goes through material quickly without explanation, and when someone has a question he will tell off the student without providing an answer. Word on the street is that he has bad B.O. too.
Horrible PROF! His tests wouldn’t be hard if he could teach! I’ve taken about 50 university courses with a B+/A- average. This man does not care about his students. He does not care about teaching. He races through transparencies so he can end class half way through. The content weighting on his test differ from what he tells you.
An ok professor; however, due to the course material, very boring. Macroeconomics is much better! During lectures he speaks in a monotone voice and speeds through the lecture notes too fast so I couldn't get everything down. Tests/exams were all multiple choice so it wasn't too bad. Still liked his class in the end, because of the cute girls. :)
Not recommended
terrible.
The only downside is that he does not post material to blackboard - he has his reasons - but more than willing to help you out if you ask!
can't teach. tends to speed through slides and when you tell him to go back to a slide.. he tends to get piss off.. terrible handwriting.. you can't read what he writes on the blackboard.. attendence counts.. other than that.. going to class was just a waste of time..
I took 504 and 600 with him, Welcome everybody, to the worst prof in Ryerson. Search for David Lee, Thomas Brennan, Kurt Von Dem Hagen!
If you attend class and do the reading should have no problems. He has lots of office hours and will answer emails within a day. Always willing to help. I will take another class with him anytime.
I think I should speak up for him since everyone said he is bad.You will be fine if you attend every class and listen to what he said.Don't forget to review all his notes before exam. This course is not difficult but you still have to work hard.
not Recommended not good
not recommended...not helpful to the student by any means...teaching is not clear at all...talks fast and don wanna repeat...all the good comments that is written here my guess its made by himself...if possible stay away from his courses
Did great in his course , recommended , look all you need from any professor is a "chance" to do well , he gives you this chance. Sample test questions help with this.
he's a really good prof, pretty funny in a very VERY sarcastic way lol. he's very helpful if you ask him questions, especially during his office hours! only thing i don't like if he can go through lectures notes pretty fast and getting behind can really screw you since he goes through the slides to fast to copy them down.
Bad prof, not recommended. He goes over the slide so fast. doesn?t post the questions on the BB ( you can?t even see your course in the BB). If you ask a question he will properly make fun of you
Not helpful at all, he also has a tendency to give strange answers as well as gives poor feedback.
Good professor overall. He's honest and will tell you like it is and not sugar coat. Pay attention in class and study the notes and you will do fine. Has plenty of office hours available for extra help, not like other profs.
Good prof with a sense of humour. He's fair and will give you extra help if you ask. If you put in the effort you'll do fine.
This guy is the worst prof, I thought I would do ok but the way he marks and his tests (MC)part is nothing like what he teaches or what the course is about. The essay he literally gives you one sentence and expects you to write an essay. I asked about 10-12 people and everyone got C's and low B's on it.
Worst prof ever, his tests (MC portion) is nothing like what he says will be on it. The essay he literaly gives you a sentence and expects you to write an essay. I asked about 10-12 people and everyone got C's and low B's on it.
Good prof, draws lots of diagrams and explains things. Class was kinda boring and easy. Helpful if you go to see him for something.
I have been to three different universities, and this is BY FAR the WORST teacher that I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. Takes absolutely no interest in the material, rushes through the power points as fast as physically possible, and he is completely monotone the whole time. save yourself the grief if you still have the option....
Very knowledgeable and explains material well (at least to people who want to listen). He doesn?t come across as the most enthusiastic guy, but he explains things well and clear. Classes are helpful to understand the material and cut down on study time at home. He draws diagrams and explains math behind it too. Good prof
This professor is really good if you come and talk to him at his office hours. this semester my class was 30+ people and on average there is a class attandence of maybe 6 people(1 of those is my friend and sleeps most of the time) all and all this professor will help.
WORST PROF IVE EVER HAD! He changes the curriculum of the course to make it harder for his students (other classes got mc tests i had written with negative marking) he is the reason i have to retake this class. please save yourself and SWITCH PROFS
both midterm and final are fair. need to attend every class to make sure what sections are not needed to be studied otherwise can be unclear!
Trimnel is an excellent Prof. He's very keen on students leaving the course with something new. Explains really well. Listen to him in class and ask for help when needed. 5 stars. He even came to school on the weekend during exam week just to be sure we were well prepared.
this guy is the WORST teacher/prof in my life !!! If u care about ur grade then switch your prof...dont take with frank...he is USELESS
Worst prof, finish 3 hours lecture in less than 2 hours. Not helpful at all. This course suppose a A course, Can't understand his England English.
I lovvvvee HIMMMMM
no comment. except: do not take this class with him!
I thought he was great - super helpful when I went to him after class with questions. I don't knwo why people are complaining here that his lectures tend to be short?? He taught a good amount of information each class.
Rate my prof is not totally accurate with this guy. I took his class and got an A+. I will admit though, it was tough, very tough, but if you put in the work you can do well. His in class teaching isn't great. I had to learn most of the course by my self, and during office hours here and there. The quizzes are a free grade boost. Pretty good.
AWFUL professor. The course schedule and the slides he teaches off of aren't even consistent with the textbook, and it's a real pain in the ass having to work around and find the actual topics in the course textbook.
The Blackboard website was down during beginning of class and he couldn't download the slides. So instead of busting out the marker and doing it old school on the whiteboard with a (god forbid) lecture, he dismisses us and the final will not cover one chapter. I'll leave it to you to decide whether that's hot or not.
puts me to sleep. Not clear...hard to hear....boring.
AMAZING teacher, EXTREMELY helpful and VERY friendly! For people who talk poorly of him, please attend classes, visit his office hours and actually study? He is fair and his exams/tests reflect what he says in class (if you listen). So for people who complain, do your work :). If you have good work ethic and are serious about school take.his.class.
This guy is AWESOME!! His Microeconomics lecture is suppose to be 3.5 hours long, however he refuses to teach over 2 hours lol. Hes fast, very fast and sometimes its hard to keep up with him but he posts the test banks which is where he gets his questions from so if you study his those questions you are GUARANTEED an A. Take any economics with him.
His class was almost completely useless. Did a poor job of explaining the few examples he did in class. I pretty much had to teach everything to myself. The content itself is really easy though, so if you do a lot of the homework, you should do well.
Doesn't teach what we need to know and uses different textbooks and powerpoints and doesn't give enough time to write the midterm. Poor marking, the class average is barely at 50% after the first midterm. Lastly, he doesn't hold office hours after class, he goes home!
Do not take Money and Banking with Trimnel, you will be very lucky if you get more than a C-. I'm sure he's great in person, but as a prof; he does not have the character or communication skills needed. Exam time allocated was too short (90 min midterm with 50 multiple choice questions! - avg less than 2 mins/question)
If you are willing to work hard...you can get a good grade in any course you take. A lot of people expect a good grade but dont show up to class or when they do they are on facebook or there cellphones. Attend office hours, if you have trouble with concepts he will clarify them for you. He has an awsome personality and a good sense of humor.
awesome prof
I am a fourth year student & I have experience. Please AVOID him at all costs.
Do not, I repeat, do not take his class, stay as far away from him as possible. He will put you to sleep, not the most approachable person, ridiculous sarcasm, makes you feel stupid, and doens`t explain crap to clarity. I am still an A student by because of my own self push and hard work...
If you show up in class, you are guaranteed to pass wid A in his class. Teaches frm point to point & teaches only whts needed. No need to buy any book as all the material U might ever need is posted on BB. If you are paying attn in class U will know what exactly is going to be in tests. Goes through theory very quickly, sometimes hard to keep up.
Great Professor. Attend class, take the notes, do the recommended problems and you'll be fine. Humorous, friendly, and fair. All resources needed can be found on the online course.
guy is boring. you literally cannot concentrate, with his extremely monotonous voice. dont recommend his class.
He is the best professor ever. It was like high school Economics. I recommend getting into his class. I failed one quiz but he took out the mark. Very understanding and very clear with his lectures.
This man is my hero. He teaches with such a passion, it gives me such a heartwarming feeling inside. He taught me very well. His only bad trait is that he is too friendly and helpful.
Beautiful lectures, very exciting. I would take again. Such a passionate professor. Plays League of Legends as well.
He is not that bad. Yes his lectures are confusing but at least he tell you what materials are covered and what to study and his test are straight forward. If you think he is bad then I assume you either skip his class too much or pay no attention at all. I got a B and I am not a A+/3+ GPA guy at all. I have seen prof that is worse than Frank
Boring lectures - just skip completely, or attend after he takes up quizzes (first hour of EVERY lecture). Just do his online quizzes at home, read the text, make good notes (or add to ppt slides he provides) and you'll get an A - guaranteed. The questions on his midterm/exam are similar to that from the online quizzes he posted. I got an A+!!!
Most fantastic prof ever met, he taught me the most useful stuff in this world. Satisfaction guaranteed, he is the best!!
Can't teach. I learned more from the textbook. His lectures are boring and he just reads off the slides. Shouldn't be a professor.
This class is really easy. You don't even need to study! It will keep your GPA up, such an easy course for engineers. I even failed! One of my favorite classes.
If you have have a course with him switch. If you can't then drop it. He is the worst thing you can imagine in a professor. If you sneeze in class he stop the class and wait until you leave. He doesn't speak very loud, and is not very clear. He mumbles a lot. His lecture notes are useless. And he doesn't teach things that shows up on the exam
He is a very bad proff. His class averages are very low for an easy intro to econ course. This clearly reflect his lack of teaching skills and monotone style. On a personal level I found Frank to be a rude and unlikeable man.
Very confusing.Offered little to no clarifications
he is a good prof. His questions in midterm and final are mainly coming from the points he focused in class. he is willing to help.
Brutal Prof. He was extremely boring and he was rude. He gave no indication of what to study except for everything in all the sections. IN order to do well you would have to do all of the hundreds of questions he assigned and then remember them all in order to do well. Glad I passed the second time around I would have quit school because of him.
One of the worst teachers i've ever had the misfortune of getting a class of. Writes on the board in a lecture hall of 400 people, rarely uses his microphone and his notes are an absolute piece of crap. Better off with ANYONE else. Doesn't explain fully and gets pissed off and refuses to teach at the most menial things (eg: student using a laptop)
Best teacher. Changed my life. Very involved and entertaining!
He is the worst professor I had... his monotonous way of teaching makes us sleep in his class! does not move from his place!
He just reads off of the slides and he is the worst prof! he is so boring, the textbook teaches more than he does.
He is the worst teacher ever, he should not be a prof, I'm not trying to be a negative person, but he really feel happy if u did not pass this course. Worst prof ever.
I ABSOLUTLY HATE THIS PROFFESOR WORST PROFESOR EVER . SHOULDNT EVEN GET PAID TO TEACH !
He is absolutely the worst professor I ever had. He reads off his slides, he speaks monotone, and there is barely any student interest in the class. In order to do well in the course you have to teach yourself, just memorize the textbook. No use at all attending the lectures.
worst. prof. ever. he seems like a nice guy, but when it comes to teaching- dear god. if you are stuck in this class here's my ad vice: dont attend any lectures or study from his lecture notes- they suck!! buy the textbook, understand it and memorize it, you will get a B and over. JUST STUDY THE TEXTBOOK ONLY THE TEXTBOOK!!
He is the worst prof ever. If you have him, SWITCH OUT IMMEDIATELY. He goes through the powerpoints within an hour, and it's a 3 hour lecture. That pretty much sums up how he 'teaches' by reading the powerpoints.
Please do yourself a favour and try to take this class online or with someone else. I do not understand why ryerson does not do anything about his guy. He is old and simply does not care. He cannot even use power point properly and writing is even worse It just gets mad that the fact that economics is hard and this guy just makes it worse.
So I was sick on the exam, got a physican to fill out the medial certificate and email him, no response, 3 days later email him, no response LIKE THE final is worth 60%. Hes a cool guy but he is super lazy. If you can pick another prof
PLEASE SWITCH OUT. if you study the most challenging questions on econ100.com, you have a very good chance of passing this course. In fact, most of the questions of midterm/final do not reflect information in class. Read textbook! so boring, you may become depressed in class.
Worst prof at ryerson. This guy is a joke.
Decent prof. Be sure to attend all of the lectures as he pulled out a surprise quiz once that gave away bonus marks. His use of textbook was weary and in class examples were very basic compared to the material and questions in exam.
very bad prof. doesn't respond to emails, monotone and hard to hear, no practice review, ect... Definitely try to find another prof if you have a class with him.
Worst Prof every DO NOT TAKE IT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WORST PROF ON THE PLANET
Easily one of the worst professors at Ryerson. If you have economics with this guy, don't even bother showing up to class because all he will do is spend the first hour of every lecture taking up the online practice quizzes and then he'll read the PowerPoint slides word for word. Take ECN104 with another prof or be prepared to learn by yourself.
Unbelivable...There are 500 students in this class and he canmot even get the attention of one student. When he presents he talks to himself not the students. Its not enough that the class is so boring, he also does not teach anything.
Worst Professor. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
I absolutely have no idea why ryerson doesn't do anything about this guy. I swear this guy does NOT care AT ALL about the students. It will take days to explain how TERRIBLE prof he is but there is one class i remember when he wrote on the white board with about 12 size font in one of the BIGGEST lecture theater at ryerson. Unbelievably ridiculous
Frank... theres not much to say about this prof but basically after midterms are handed back, only 10% of the class shows up and I was in that %. All he really does is read off slides the whole class and dismisses us once he finishes the last slide. I managed to get an A in the course because I had taken economics in hs. But if I hadn't.....
Horrible, I had to drop the class because I didn't learn anything from this guy. Trust me don't take his class
Avoid this prof at all costs. If you HAVE to take him, don't bother going to class. As early as week 3 only 70% of the class showed up. After the midterm that number dropped to below 50% (from my eyes). Only upside to his class is that the powerpoints are very well made.
try to go to his office hours, He will help you if he sees you are care ! his exam come from what he posts in BB and what he solve in class as well!
If you are not planning on learning the content on your own, do not take this prof. Also, the multiple choice questions he does in class are not nearly as hard as the ones on the final.
HORRIBLE IS ALL
He is the worst prof in history. He speaks in a monotone voice that makes you wanna die. Honestly stay away from him because he doesn't give a crap about his students. His exam and midterm were so hard. His lectures will literally put you to sleep and I could barely understand what he was saying half the time.
I have him for Principle of Engineering Economics...honestly one of the worst professors I've ever encountered. The first week we started with a full lecture hall (300+ students). By week 4 there was less than 50, others stopped going to his class simply because he was...um....boring and uninformative. He reads off PP's and just does examples.
Franky T, is quite possibly one of the worst professors one can get for economics at Ryerson, especially if you don't not care about economics at all. He stand up in front of the class, mumbles into a microphone and tries to teach. Avoid him and this class if possible.
Absolutely ridiculous. Does not care about his students. TEACHES NOTHING. Reads off ppt questions. The most monotone person you will ever encounter.
Terrible prof, don't take course with him
The class was very dull, and wasn't taught well. Half of the class was skipping his classes by the 3rd week. This prof just reads off the powerpoints and constantly jumps back and forth to random topics within 2-3 powerpoints. My advice: Since everything is online, work through this by yourself. It will save you a lot of wasted time.
Worst prof ever. He hates his life and takes it out on students. Great class to sleep in though.
The best professor ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People call him bad, but if you attend class he will explain clearly through all topics. His example solving are extra ordinary.
Worst Prof ever. He can't teach at all and his exams are horrible. Switch to another prof while you can.
If you go to the classes and put in some extra study hours, you will do just fine with this professor. The review questions he goes over at the beginning of class are similar to those you will find in the tests. He can sometimes speed through some things he thinks are simple, but if you're confused, just ask him after class or during office hours.
OMG he is the best prof and is a super easy marker. He is really funny too and is very lively. Hes very reasonable.
Great teacher if you want to learn. Many students didn't like him due to his monotone voice but I was impressed by the quality of his ppts even if he just goes through them in lectures, he brings up important things that are not in slides but relate to them. He is a very likeable guy and if u do the practice questions should do well in the course
This guy is very monotone and literally reads off the slides every lecture. The funny thing is, the textbook is literally non-existent, you can literally study off the slides like I did and get an A. If you do his practice test questions you will do fine considering he reuses the exact questions on his tests.
Lectures were very monotone and since people would leave by the hour mark, he would never take breaks. He couldn't use his technology a lot of time and after the midterm, about 20 people went out of a class of 300 or so. We were told not to buy a textbook, however the multiple choice he supplies are useful.
SO RUDE He asks the class if they understand something and when the class answers with a resounding no, he just says well there is a soc course with open spots. He is so unclear and flips around ppt, docs, over head, and excel. He uses font that are so tiny that no one can read it. He assumes you already know the terms like we the experts. GARBAGE
he's has a VERY monotone voice. he goes through EVERY SINGLE practice question & if no one answers then he doesn't move on, which is annoying cause it takes forever for someone to realize that he's waiting for us to answer. it's a pretty easy course though, i suggest you read the textbookslides & only go to the lectures if you have questions
Boring lectures. Monotone. Material is dull.
bad bad bad.
Best prof ever!! His teaching skills are on point with Harvard University profs. Definitely recommend. Easily a C-
100% the WORST professor I have ever had. Completely Monotone voice... I would rather pay my $10000 tuition on my textbook which saved me.... All this is coming from a guy who got an A+ in his class.
Had him for this course first year and i could not keep my eyes open for the 8 am lectures so i dropped the course. Took the same course with Trimnell and i got 100% on the midterm and finished the course with an A with minimal studying. You MUST pay attention in class and go over all of the slides and practice problems that he takes up in class
Completely unfair reputation. Enjoyed the course material and although the lectures were long, I liked his teaching method: Slides about the theory first then practice problems after to make you really understand. His practice problems were essential preparation for the midterm and final. He's also very willing to help in his office hours!
Lecture in huge movie theatre room on Yonge and Dundas. NEED TEXTBOOK. All ECN profs post some type of material online but not sure how much. Trimnel posted ppt summary slides, mc without answers. must go to lecture for answer. sample mc with answers, practice mc without answers. 1,2,3,4 for EACH chapter & VERY HELPFUL! Prof quiet, boring, monotone
Dude, this guy's power points are legit ENOUGH to even get a 80+ on the midterm and final. This guy is boring and monotone but his power points and sample questions are very similar to the exams. Study his sample questions and understand them inside and out. You will pass with minimum 75. Studied 2 hours for midterm only and received 90
Notes are an unorganized mess. Final is extremely difficult.
Frank Trimnell seems to be very uninterested in his job. He is very mono tone, boring and very unenthusiastic. His power points are very useless when you try and do the sample questions he gives you. Make sure you go to class and write down every word he says, other wise you won't pass.
He bases his tests on his old textbooks so it's not very easy to understand the questions when the answers aren't in the assigned textbook.
You learn nothing during the lecture, he just goes through multiple choice that have a 0.0001 percent chance of being on the actually evaluations. After the MC is the endlessly long monotonous slides so you don't have to go to class every week. MAKE SURE you space out your readings because cramming for this course is impossible.
Very monotone and after 3 hours it's really difficult to follow his lecture. The course is weighted 40% midterm, 60% exam so there's no evaluations in between for you to try and determine if you're understanding the material. Would not recommend, he made a course that has potential to be interesting, super boring.
Yes, he is monotone and is boring to listen to. If you ask, though, he'll always go back and explain as many times as needed. Lectures are boring, but very predictable in their organizations, and all the practice questions are posted online too. If you don't go to the lectures, get the book and do every chapter thoroughly every week - easily an A.
Lecture in huge movie theatre room on yonge & dundas. NEED TEXTBOOK. Trimnell posts ppt summary slides and 3 booklets of multiple choice with answers for EACH chapter. READ TEXTBOOK CHAPTER EACH WEEK AND DO ALL MULTIPLE CHOICE! Midterm 40% Ch 1-7 all multiple choice. Most from booklets. Final exam 60% all random multiple choice REALLY hard!
Lectures are very boring, and tests are weighted heavily. Class in not mandatory, he just reads off the powerpoints he posts online. Read the textbook to pass! His tests are very similar to the practice tests he posts so make sure you do them and review them!
Reads off slides, very monotone, and hard to understand what he says most of the time. Not very passionate about the topics. Everything is found in the textbook so you just have to read that.
not helpful, interesting, and you can't understand anything. His exams are on the easier side which is a good thing.
AVOID. he's so bad. would never say anything good about him. if you want to fail - he's your guy.
student asks him to solve one problem as an example from scratch, he wont do it because he says its a waste of time, instead he just points on numbers from excel and ppt answering question that only he can understand. idk how he became and still a professor.
Read off the slides, skipped questions and midterms did not reflect the material. If you see his name don't take the class.
Good Prof. But fair warning Lectures are long and tend to be boring, he doesn't answer questions during break. But does answer questions during lectures and will go over certain questions if they still remain unclear. Hes very knowledgeable about the material, but teaching methods are not the greatest. Additional problems are always great to do.
Frank is a good prof, sure his lectures are boring but when u start listening to him he actually explains the material really well. The hardest part is that the lecture is 3hrs long and it's pretty hard to not fall asleep but if you can get past that part the class is an easy A.
omg pleasssssssse avoid. he is so boring, he for sure knows his material but you will fall asleep...
Without a doubt! The best prof Ryerson has had. He's so caring omg, is he single lol? Hopefully
Frank Trimnell is the most monotone professor in ryerson. Even the sound of him opening his Diet Soda sounds better than his lectures! In terms of marking and difficulty is okay, but his lectures definitely do not help. The problem is Microeconomics is a subject where lectures is necessary and Trimnell makes you not want to go.
I took ECN104 online with this prof.. it is a very easy and interesting course. I personally learned a lot from Youtube videos and other online material. The prof is good and quick to respond to questions quickly and try to encourage students to participate. If you would like to get please do your readings and watch youtube videos of ACDC Econ.
I took ECN104 online to take it out of my fall schedule, and given that I had no econ background it was a bit challenging for me. I had to pretty much learn everything by myself through ACDC econ. His notes are a bit outdated and you need to read the textbook if you're lost. his exam wasn't hard but you definitely need to study for it.
AVOID! simply just rude and does not care about his students at all.. the course itself isn't bad and you can do well if you keep up with the work but Frank will not help you, is rude in emails (if he even replies) and not organized whatsoever.
Amazing! Make sure to participate in the discussion questions, they really help your grade and are mandatory; super easy.
