He's an awesome TA. Very willing to help and really makes things interesting. Put in the effort and you'll do great. Definitely recommended!
He's extremely helpful in and out of class. He goes over everything that will be on the tests and quizzes, so if you pay attention to him, you will most likely do well on the exams. Highly recommended TA!
Pretty easy TA for the most part. He explains the most important concepts and is very willing to answer any questions you have. Organic is a hard subject, but he seems to know his stuff pretty well. Study and come to his class, everything will make much more sense.
Frankie is a really cool TA. He tries to help students and it shows with the way he teaches. Quizzes are ok. He hints what kind of questions will be on them before giving them out. If you study and come to class, the stuff will make much more sense. He's pretty hot too with a NY accent (which can be kinda hard to understand when he talks fast).
He's super nice. Funny too! He tries to help out students and usually gives hints on what you need to know. Talks a little fast but you can understand him. Its better to go to class with questions you already have because he will do similar examples. Good TA overall!
Frankie is a great teacher! Deeply cares about students. He gives great lectures and his quizzes are fair. Take him!!!
Quality TA. Frankie's a great guy. Gives better lectures than the prof. Quite happy to help. One of the few people in the CHEM dep. that actually makes you understand why someone might want to do Chem. for a living. Get him to talk about tryptamines. You'll have a good time.
Awesome TA! Made Chemistry easy to understand, and will help you if you have trouble on certain parts of the labs. His Italian accent is cool af too
Dr. Costanza is a great professor, and makes you see why someone would consider chemistry as a career. He clearly has a passion for the subject and could probably teach organic chemistry to monkeys. Willing to answer and questions AND will write letters of recommendation. 10/10 would recommend for ANY and EVERY subject. Has an awesome accent also.
Dr. Costanza is a great professor. He is really nice and clearly cares deeply about his students and wants you to succeed. Also very passionate about the subject, and tries to make lecture as interesting as possible. Orgo is not an easy A by any means, but study hard/consistently and come to class and you'll be fine.
He is new to teaching and has aspects of his lectures that he can improve, but he does a good job presenting a hard subject. He is very available, feel free to go to his office hours for help. His notes and practice test are very representative of his tests. You'll get the grade your work reflects.
It's organic chemistry, not your typical easy science class. You want a decent grade? You have to work for it, for HOURS, EVERY DAY. You have to love it and live it. Its not easy with any professor. Dr. Costanza is a very kind professor who is passionate and knowledgeable about the subject and helping students to understand it. Office hourshelpful
Orgo is a hard subject but I took it with Dr. Costanza as a 6 week summer course and he was amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable, loves chemistry and is willing to explain things in any way he can to help you understand it. He is fair and offers extra credit on every exam. He's one of the best professors I've ever taken and I loved his lectures.
Great professor, he was able to go into depth and relate things in the real world to our class, even in a 6 week summer course for Orgo 1. Provided extra credit here and there and was very reasonable so long as you worked for it. He still has a few things he can work on, but considering he is new, he is one of the best I've had.
Really nice guy who knows his stuff. His passion for the subject really shows. Very reasonable and is always available to help. There are things about his teaching method that could be improved, but he is very young and already pretty good. Pretty cute too with a cool accent.
Dr. Costanza was a great lab instructor. He is very helpful with creating procedures and doesn't pick at specifics. Definitely come to class and put the work in. He is laid back as long as you're working and getting things done.
I love Frankie. Hes super chill, funny and a great TA. We have the best conversations in class and hes made Orgo 1 lab very fun. However, he can be a bit demanding with the post labs. He wants very specific examples for the discussion. He also expects a lot of details in the intro. Hes not a harsh grader, but he wont give you 100%
Frankie is a gem! Hes very understanding and helpful, very very smart and very cute too .I love his personality. Hes very chill, always willing to help, and not a very harsh grader. Hes young but dont let that fool you because hes a genius when it comes to Orgo. If you have his class, you are very lucky! By far the best TA ever!!
Honestly hes so nice and explains the material clearly for everyone. Uses the same memes and its adorable I might actually be in love with him. Has no flaws and is cuter than all the kittens I imagine he takes care of on the weekends.
Frankie is the bees knees. Although he isn't the best lecturer he does try his best to clearly explain everything and make sure everyone is understanding it. He loves to add little "just for fun" side notes which are always funny. He's just an overall adorable cutie that loves chem.
He doesn't explain content well, notes are unorganized and examples are given but no explanations. He doesn't really specify what reactions to know/mechanisms to be tested on. No curves, no dropped tests, spends like 20 minutes ranting about chemistry experiment stories, and as a result is always rushing and behind.
Frankie moves quickly, but he's knowledgable, insightful, and tries his best to keep the mood light (not easy to do in chemistry). I would recommend him.
Frankie is a new professor but is really trying his best. He really cares about what kind of content we are learning. Obviously since he is a new prof he has a few kinks to work out and Orgo 2 in general is a difficult class. He tries to be fair with what he tests on and makes it so you can pass the class using just his notes. Do the workpassing
Truth be told, I don't think teaching is Dr. Costanza's strong suit. He's good at giving a lecture, but he's not the best at explaining chemistry concepts and kind of all over the place. You learn how to solve a problem, but won't understand what it was for in the long run. I would recommend someone else if Chem is not an easy subject for you.
Dr. Costanza is one of the best teachers I ever had. He tries his best to clearly explain everything and make sure everyone is understanding it. He also talks about recent discoveries and developments in science which helps you get a break from all the chemistry going on
Dr. Costanza is by far my favorite chemistry teacher. I've learned so much from him and I have actually been able to understand chemistry for once. He tries his best to make sure everyone grasps the content but be careful because he does tend to go rather fast. The tests aren't too difficult if you actually study and pay attention in class.
He is new to teaching Orgo 2. Each test is completely unlike the next. He wants us to solely study his "notes" to do good on his exams. But, the notes are nothing like the exams. Whoever left the last two reviews within a day apart from each other is seriously kidding, he's a new teacher for that course also, aka not good. Don't take Costanza!!!!
Dr. Costanza is new to teaching Orgo II and is tasked with teaching a hell course. However, he does manage to do well if you are willing to put the effort. He is tasked with teaching a class full of students all of Orgo I because they forgot, and a mountain of reactions that is Orgo II. In the face of that, he does well compared to his predecessor.
Costanza was all over the place with notes. Constantly needing to make corrections on his notes and being vague and all over during lecture. His tests were very general, long and over minuscule things he went over for a minute in class before he was done. Having to retake when I have spent weeks studying for each test using the stuff he posted.
Dr. Costanza has the making of a good professor, but until he gets enough experience, I would stray away from him. This class was immensely hard and the lectures were way too quick and jam packed with too much information. He is very knowledgeable, however, he does not get his point across very well.
From day 1 we were rushed through all of the content at a fast pace. Orgo II has plenty of reactions and rushing through each of them on a daily basis is not helpful. He stresses the fact of studying his notes but does not actually teach us enough to use his notes to apply to the exams. He doesn't teach, and just reads from a projector.
Literally worst professor ever, almost same as Raker! NOTHING can prepare you for his exams and if you fail he says its your fault because you didn't study. I studied after every class and 2 weeks before exams and still could not do well on his exams! He does not care about his students and cannot explain mechanisms for concepts at all! SO AWFUl!
Professor C is a G! He knows the material really well and is especially helpful during office hours. He also likes to talk about futuristic technologies and their potential impact on the job market. If you study and ask him whatever you dont understand during his office hours, youll pass with at least a B
Dr. C actually cares for his students. I literally only studied by re-writing his posted notes and HW and I did well. His tests were difficult but fair (except for test 1), but who would expect orgo 2 to be easy? Anyone below claiming they studied weeks in advance and still could not do well is clearly lying to themself. He also curved grades.
Dr. C is very intelligent and intriguing. Orgo itself is such a fast paced course, so be prepared for lots of studying. But what grade you get in this class should not be blamed on the professor. His handwritten notes are very helpful. He cares about his students and wants them to pass. Go to his office if you get the chance. I recommend taking him
those that are complaining about failing Costanzas organic class must be talented at failing. I took him for orgo 2 and ended up with an A+, he gives a lot of extra credit for exams and for your final grade. On top of that the exam is literally based off his notes, study the notes and you will get an A. This professor is fair and caring, trust me.
He is a professor that has a great personality, very positive attitude. It was his first semester as a professor. The text book was never used, just a website called Sapling for the homework, which was simple and never took up much time. There is a huge curve and basically no way to fail the class.
He did go slightly fast through lectures but he was always available to help during office hours. Powerpoints were posted on canvas so you could study those on your own time. He went on tangents often, but they related chemistry to the real world and were usually pretty interesting. Would recommend to anyone who loves science and learning.
Best professor by far! He is caring and extremely helpful. His lectures are made to make the course relatable and clearly understood!
Not sure why so many reviews are critical, currently in his Chemistry Lecture, and it's very manageable. He posts powerpoint slides, and he posts videos to outside resources for every concept covered in class and/or will be on the test. If you try your best to get an A, you will get one.
He is a good professor, really caring. Gives a ton of clickers each lecture. He does go through his slides pretty fast, but he also posts all of the slides in case you want to go back and take notes. There's online homework due every week, which are very manageable if you attend class or at least look at the slides and notes. Would recommend!
This guy is the bomb! You can really tell he has a passion for teaching. His lectures are detailed, he always answers and encourages questions, and he also makes the classes fun with jokes every so often. I have learned more chemistry this semester through him than I ever have before! If you like fast, fun, and detailed lectures, this is for you!
Take Dr. Costanza! By far the best CHM experience you could have. His passion for chemistry is so apparent and he uses that enthusiasm in lectures, making the class interesting and digestible. He makes real-world connections to the course content, and thoroughly explains topics as needed. You definitely have to put in the effort, but it's worth it.
Ive had Dr. Costanza for both CHM 2045 and 2046, and he is a great professor. Lectures are heavy, but he takes time to go over examples of tough concepts. His current events, before the lecture begins, make him more personable. Attendance is necessary, due to clicker questions. Study hard for the tests and you should do decent!
(I took CHM 2045 w him but that was not an option on here) Frankie was my favorite professor this year! You can tell he cares a lot about the students past passing his class. This was his second semester teaching CHM 2045 and I am SO glad that I took it with him!
I hated chemistry before this class. Dr. Costanza always answered my emails and tried hard to make a rough subject understandable. He truly cares about his students' success. He is such a sweet person and I would definitely take him again.
Good teacher, Goes fast some classes. The grading system for chemistry is kind of weird and you don't know your true grade until the very end. Costanza was always engaging and the class wasn't test heavy if you do poorly on the exams and do great on the homework you'll pass.
Dr. Costanza is the best chem prof at USF! He connects with the classes by providing applications of the topics taught. Just take him! Homework, quizzes, and practice exams really help you prepare for tests. You definitely have to work for it, but he is very helpful if you need it.
Has a hard time conveying his information to his students , and often makes mistakes on his mechanisms. If you are looking for a curve don't expect one he does not like curving his exams, his exams are nothing like the practice tests. You can still get a good grade but do a lot of the studying on your own or with a solid group.
This guy is insane! Don't even go off the Practice tests he gives cause they are A MILLION TIMES EASIER than his real exams. He is a terrible professor and really needs to go back and learn more about Organic chemistry before he starts teaching again, constantly makes mistakes on his notes and wants you to go off those horrible notes.
Frankie is a great professor. If you have any questions he will gladly help you with no issues and replies extremely fast on emails. Overall very good professor. His notes are easy to follow and he posts a fair amount of study material to review for the test.
Best Organic Chemistry Professor you will get at USF. Very helpful, passionate, and understanding. He shapes the class based on how the class is doing. The only thing that was bad was the lack of example problems or practice tests. It was hard to practice any of the material from class. But know his notes by heart and you will be fine!!
Trying to cram Orgo 2 in 6 weeks is not easy but he made it as painless as possible. There were clicker points, weekly quizzes, & homework in addition to 3 exams. The WileyPlus homework didnt match his exam style questions, practice exams were the best for this. Wish he gave more practice in his style. Exams werent bad, based on notes. Fair prof!
this class is next to impossible to fail. I ended up with a C because I didnt study. he is very helpful
great professor. the class is clearly structured, all lecture slides are available. lots of practice material available on canvas. textbook is online and is free but for the most part I didn't really use it, I prefer watching the videos on each topic. he takes attendance using clickers and also grades on the each question out of 2 points
Dr. Costanza is a solid professor even though hes fairly new at teaching. He applies chemistry to real world examples which helps students realize the importance of chemistry in health and medicine. In general, Orgo itself requires you to rewrite notes and practice problems several times before you can understand a topic well.
Took him over the summer and he was very transparent and his lectures were very helpful. He handwrites the mechanisms so you can follow along. He gives fun facts about chemistry in the real world so you can apply what are you learning to the real world.
Posts handwritten notes but they're all you need to get an A. Explains things well. You don't need to go to class to pass, but I found myself going because I enjoyed his lectures. He seems like a cool guy. Very passionate about orgo and makes class exciting with his chemistry current events and tangents on psychedelics.
Awesome Professor. He really explains the material well and tells you what types of problems youll need to know for the exam.
Absolutely love the guy. Great prof, clearly has a passion for chemistry. Gives "current events" at the beginning of each lecture, making the class fun as we actually know how it's relevant. Gives plenty of exam reviews, practice worksheets, and drops two quizzes. Gave an 8-11 point curve on each exam. Final wasn't cumulative. 11/10
Clickers, hw,and peer leading are 30% of your grade which helps, but as a teacher hes not that great; he goes too fast and isn't intriguing when teaching& I normally enjoy chemistry. He's not bad, he's just not good. Theres worst chem professors at usf but theres definitely better. He just made it boring. Chem at usf is standardized for tests¬es
Dr. Costanza is a phenomenal professor. He starts each lecture with an interesting current event that ties in to the material. He's super straightforward with quizzes and exams, and he really does everything he can (within reason) to help you out. As long as you put in the effort, he'll take you the rest of the way to a good grade.
Let me start off by saying i'm not the best at chemistry but he made it very understanding and tried his best to always help and is quick but still takes his time to explain by solving problems and other chem profs don't. He posts all the materials you need to know and helpful youtube videos for each section of the chapter. I ended up with an A-.
Dr. Constanza was great! I struggled with Chemistry before I took his class, and now I have a pretty good understanding of Gen Chem I! Take notes and you're set. Had some health issues throughout the semester and he was quick to respond and tried his best to help. Very pleased to have chosen him as a professor and I plan to take him again!
Honestly one a great professor for Orgo II. It sucks to do badly in a class that has an awesome professor. He really gives you a fighting chance to pass this class but if you want to do well have some serious study time and good study habits it's easy to fall behind. Probably going to retake this and I'm 100% doing it again with Dr. Costanza.
Dr. Costanza is one of the best organic chemistry professors. He is the only chemistry professor I have had that has shown his passion towards the subject and that speaks volumes. He gives plenty of study material: notes & exams with answer keys from previous semesters for the upcoming exams. Study smart & efficiently! I highly recommend him!
Dr. Costanza is very passionate about chem. and his students. I've never met a prof. that is so invested in the lives of students beyond academics. The chem. department at USF does everything to give students a good grade (capped clickers/homework, peer lead groups, extra credit). You have to go to class b/c chem. is hard, but he's a great lecturer
Orgo 2 with Dr. C was not easy, but it is def possible. He provides his own notes, practice problems, old exams, gives extra points on exams, caps clicker points, and makes himself available after class and during office hours. His humor/positive attitude was also very refreshing. With good, consistent studying habits, failing is highly unlikely.
He is a really good professor who can explain things very well. Go to class not just for the clicker points but to hear him explain things, its well worth it.
Great guy and instructor, wish I could've done better but Orgo 2 is a tough course regardless.
He explains the material fast but very clearly. The homework and quizzes is usually on practices done in class and aren't too difficult.
I had Dr. Costanza for General Chemistry II lecture and honestly he is the main reason I got through the class. Especially during virtual learning, he truly does everything in his power to help his students succeed and have a good time. He is very caring and funny and always tries to make the best out of class/Zoom time. Would HIGHLY recommend.
Dr. Costanza is a wonderful professor who will make chemistry seem interesting and understandable even if it isn't your forte. He is kind, professional, and truly cares about making a difference in the lives of his students both inside and outside of the classroom. Expect to leave with not just chemistry knowledge, but as a better person entirely.
I'm not a huge chemistry person because I've taken biology all my life so I was honestly really nervous about taking Chem 2. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the class content and Dr. Costanza. He makes lectures interesting and keeps you engaged. I hope to take him for Orgo 2 as well.
If you like things explained conceptually to you, you'll like Costanza. He's a really sweet professor that genuinely cares about his students. During lectures, he always took the time to thoroughly explain what we were going over. He also makes himself available outside of class when, so I wouldn't hesitate to ask him questions when needed.
Dr. Costanza takes care of all his students, definitely take him for Orgo II. I had him for Chem II as well and he will work with you and help you do your best. This class is hard, but take advantage of the extra credit and you will do fine!
This is a rough one because chem 2 went from in class to remote learning due to covid. That being said, prof costanza will stop to explain in lectures and doesn't just click on the slides to move past the material. it is fast-paced but he will skip problems to go over a problem more slowly. He is patient. I like him!
Really good at explaining the material conceptually and solving problems. Just do the learning objectives for each week before the exams and you'll be fine. Extra credit is usually offered. Lectures aren't mandatory but help a lot. Office hours are good too.
Love this man
Costanza was very accessible outside of class, and made himself available frequently through virtual office hours when everything was online. In his classes, his "current events" can sometimes take up to 10 minutes, so he can get distracted by his own enthusiasm, but other than that he was a solid choice. I'll probably take him for Orgo 2.
Hard class, but he makes it really interesting. He does his own notes and draws out reactions with us. He's also really funny. Extra credit throughout the semester and on exams too.
I feel very strongly about Frankie. He uses clickers almost every lecture, this makes attendance mandatory. His lectures do not consist of anything you cant do on your own. He just reads from the slides ( he uploads on canvas), even then he seems very unsure of the content to me and often fumbles.
Two lecture videos, 1 homework assignment and 1 quiz per week and has office hours twice a week. Is really good at explaining and gives out a study guid for tests. Super nice, funny, and accomadating. Would take him again 100%.
I feel like people are being a little rough on Frankie. Any time I needed help or clarification on anything he would stay late & would even talk the physics of things with me. Chem is a hard course. You have to read through everything and give an honest effort but it was very do-able. Clickers required but you could do half of them & get full cred.
Prof Costanza is always ready to help you, outside of class through email, through office hours, no matter what you need he is there! Chemistry can be hard, but he at least makes it fun! You put in the work, you put in the grade.
I have always considered myself to be horrible at chemistry but Professor Costanza presented the information in a way that was easily understandable. He is also understanding and made it so that my circumstances didn't effect my grade. A lot of study materials are provided for exams. I highly recommend him especially if you are a disabled student.
Chemistry is a hard class and this prof actually care for you and want you to pass and his grading curve is pretty good to like 85 is a A-. If you got a question just go to his office hour and he will answer it or just email him.
Just Awesome!! Would definitely recommend this instructor.
Professor Costanza is one of the most caring professors I have ever encountered in my education career. Gen Chem is already a stressful class but he made it as bearable as possible and even enjoyable at times, it was really easy to tell that he wanted everyone in my class to do well, even though the format was online. Office hours are very helpful.
Best chem teacher Ive ever had. I understood his lectures even when the college was 100% virtual. If you have the chance to take his class, DO IT.
Costanza is a great Professor. His lectures are very good, especially for being online. Chemistry is hard so you have to put in the time and work if you want a good grade. However, he is great at teaching and makes chemistry easy to understand.
Good detailed lectures, gives lots of practice problems, gives you every chance to pass. Super forgiving grading scale (how about a 55% average for the class still gets you a C- overall?) so if you fail him you're not even showing up. Don't get me wrong, Chemistry is hard either way, but a good professor like Costanza doesn't hurt your chances.
Transition to online has been hard, but we were given many different study outlets to work with. Tons of extra practice that isn't for a grade, but for you to test your understanding and come to class prepared with good questions. Lecture videos w/ pwpt are posted on canvas, class time is used for more in-depth explaining & questions.
Every week there was a quiz & homework assignment due as well as peer leading sessions. His lectures were clear and he made it easy to understand the lessons. He posted weekly practice worksheets as well as test practices to help study the material best and do well on the exams/quizzes. 3 exams and 1 final cumulative exam. Replies fast to emails.
Prof Costanza is wonderful! I struggle with chemistry but his lectures are easy to understand and office hours are very, very helpful. He's willing to help if you don't understand and cares about his students. Would recommend.
He really cares about you actually learning the material and explains the concepts very well. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Ignore all the bad comments made about Dr. Costanza on this site. They are all baseless. He is just the best because he simplifies EVERY CONCEPT. Not quite sure why I switched to another prof for chem 2, the worst decision of my life thus far. My friend is letting me use her canvas login so I can watch Dr. Costanza's lectures for chem 2. Amazing
Dr. Costanza's chemistry lectures reminded me why I chose to pursue my major. You can tell that he is very passionate about the subject and that he really cares about his students. Will definitely try to take him again if I can in the future.
Costanza makes it super easy (given that it's chem) for you to succeed. His lectures go over everything on the exams and homeworks and he is very thorough with examples so you understand. He gives multiple attempts for quizzes (that often have the same questions for mult. attempts) and is always available to answer questions
best lectures out of all the chem professors at USF. he does live sessions during class time but the actual lectures are posted videos that are easy to understand and the practice problems are similar to exam questions. i had him for chem 1 and 2 and got an A+ without going to any live sessions because the lectures are good enough on their own
this is the best chem prof i ever have. I got him for chem 1-2 and i wouldn't have gotten an A if it wasnt for him. He does the post lecture on module weekly and he also does live lecture where he does question students gave him.
Best professor Ive had so far, had him for Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 and whenever I underperformed it was my fault and not his. However, if you study his learning objectives and weekly practices each week and watch his lecture videos and try to understand the material you will undoubtedly do good in his class. He actually cares too and responsive.
Professor Costanza is such an amazing Chemistry teacher. I had him for both Chem 1 and 2. His lectures are amazing! Chemistry can be hard, but as long as you watch his lectures, do the worked problems for each chapter and practice, you will do fine. His office hours are great too because he does extra problems and answered any questions you have.
Professor Costanza was a great professor for both gen chem 1 and gen chem 2. The bones i have to pick with that class have to do with university requirements, Costanza himself was very understanding and helpful. One of the greatest professors I have seen in chem and genuinely cares about his students.
He is an absolute gem. His emails are respectful and detailed, whether it be about class or outside material. I had him for CHM2046 and he is awesome as always.
I didn't think it was possible to make a chemistry class so easy to understand. He is thorough and gives real world examples to keep it interesting. He held a meeting every week where we could ask any question, and was always very patient when explaining concepts. Even if he needed to explain it 3-4 times. I really wish I could take him for orgo.
Dr. Costanza is awesome. Such a nice person and his passion for science is infectious. I never thought I would like chemistry but I actually really enjoyed this class. His exams are very fair and he is always upfront about what material will be included so I never felt unprepared. 10/10 would recommend
He is a very kind and funny individual. However, I think the class is challenging if chemistry does not come easily to you. Because I didn't always understand the material, sometimes I did feel undermined when coming to ask for help. There is a lot of material to cover throughout the semester, so a lot of time is required to study outside of class.
Dr. Costanza is such a sweetheart. He is so kind and it is so apparent he loves the subject he teaches. He always finds ways to relate real world scenarios in every lecture to help students make connections. He is always there to help and is extremely accessible outside class. One of the best, if not THE best, professor at USF, second to none.
Dr. Costanza is so sweet. Chemistry doesn't really come easy to me but a good professor like Dr. Costanza makes all the difference. He is a very thoughtful teacher who puts a lot of thought into how he presents the material. He is extremely patient&I never felt like a bother asking "stupid" questions. All his lessons were very engaging(1/2)
costanza is great. easily one of my favorite professors this semester and he really tries to be as accommodating as possible for first time chem students. make sure you study plenty for tests no matter how much you understand the material and ask questions if you have them for sure. overall great professor and i'm excited to take his classes again
super easy lab professor. really accommodating since it was the first chemistry lab that many of his students had taken and was super easy with harshness on the grading material. for sure would take again!
He genuinely makes chemistry enjoyable and easy to understand. He cares a lot for his students and is overall a very friendly guy. On tests he gives over 100 points, so if your test was out of 116 points and you get 16 points off, you'll still have a 100! If you have him for lab too, he explains the procedures very well. It was very fun.
Dr. Costanza made organic chemistry, a subject that is rated by most pre-meds to be the most difficult class in undergrad, an incredibly enjoyable experience. His lectures are quick and concise and lay out the groundwork for everything you should know on the exams. His hilarious anecdotes will make a positive impact on your life.
Dr Costanza is a very nice at face value. However there are some issues in paradise: 1) He speed thru lectures super fast, get ready to have auditory over stimulated. Hard to ask questions b/c of the speed. 2) TEST HEAVY & HARD GRADER! will take off points for misspelling @ free respond questions (which is all of the exams)
I love Prof. Costanza! He is super helpful in office hours, is entertaining during lectures, and really cares about his students! His tests are not multiple choice (wish they were), but he gives partial credit even for attempting to solve the problem. He lectures fast, but he's just trying to cover all the material in time. He is super fun in lab!
This teacher was the best teacher I have ever had at USF. Can not recommend him enough.
Dr Costanza was the first lab Ta I had and he was amazing! He has a clear criteria for his lab reports. Each week you have to do a pre lab, pre lab questions, and post lab questions. All of it takes a while to do, so don't cram everything too last minute. His final test grade is a group presentation. He's so worth the 2 hour drive from tampa :)
Professor Costanza makes chemistry easy to understand. He's engaging and patient, even with 'stupid' questions. He covers material thoroughly and gives generous partial credit. Unstuck AI was a game-changer for exam prep.
An amazing professor for new college students! Extremely thorough, but talks really fast. Gives plenty of study material for exams, so there are no surprises. Really cooperative and overall very funny and understanding. You get up to 3 (I believe) excused absences without a need for a note or reason.
The workload isn't hard, but the procedures can be lengthy to write out in the lab notebook. Besides that, there's not much work for the lab. Occasionally, he makes unclear changes, but he clarifies them once you're in the lab. The final is an easy group PowerPoint project.
