By far, he is one of the best teachers I've had. He really goes against the grain. When most teachers are lecture, content, and boring heavy; Franklin makes you learn, makes it fun. I think if you want to do well, all you gotta do is listen to what he says. He really makes you learn. Would definitely take again ++++
Doesn't teach the content. Talks about personal issues. And even though attendance is not mandatory, he will make snide remarks about those who don't come to his class to listen him talk about himself. Would never take him again.
Don't be fooled by his firm approach, this prof is very strategic. Listen to him. He gives very good techniques to do well in class. For me, I had to work hard to do well. If you listen to what Franklin says, you will give yourself a chance to do well. In my class, he would tell us the most important classes to attend. So I went to those classes.
Not sure how much work other students here put, but honestly I worked a lot. So I couldn't put as much effort into school. But I knew this, so I was realistic. This prof really understood. Although I was not gonna get an A, he helped learn strategies so I can get the grades I needed. And I did, I got the grades I deserved. Most helpful Professor!
Best Teacher ever. This was the hardest test I've ever had. Franklin really helped me and my classmates prepare for it. I don't know what it is, but he has a way to help you learn. I was never good at studying until I had him. Thank you very much. Hope to get him next year!
Franklin is the most inspirational professor you might ever meet. His lectures are wild, but he always has purpose. He brings course content beyond the classroom, giving it meaning you wouldn't find just by reading. He also responds to messages in a jiffy! When I grow up I want to be like Franklin and help others be like Franklin.
Honestly didn't really like his teaching style but he's a fair marker. I wish he spent more time on the content since there was so much material we had to go through on our own. Attend his review class and regularly talk to him about your project.
Now that im done the course, i can honestly see what franklin was trying to do. He makes his students think. Sometimes it was hard to think critically, but hey it is university and it shouldnt be easy. He made me work for my grade. Totally worth it. I feel like the stuff i learned from his class i can use outside of class. Very motivational!
He gives awesome lectures. The course was content heavy, so I had to learn a lot. If you don't keep up with your readings, you will fall behind. But hey, this is university - if it was easy then everyone can do it. He really makes you learn how to learn. Just listen to what he says, he gives really amazing advice. +++ will take again
Best prof ever. Very helpful. I really like how helpful Franklin is with us. He cared enough to teach me how to study. Most teachers lecture, Franklin taught me how to learn. My grades went up significantly. I didn't have to attend class eventually.
This prof is probably the most helpful prof ever. He is the only one that makes sure that if you have questions they are answered fast - real fast. Most of the teachers make you wait and you end up wasting time waiting for them to answer you. Franklin really support and respects my and other students learning. VERY HELPFUL
Best prof ever! I learned so much from Franklin. He is very approachable, helpful, and always (I mean always) available. Because of this prof, I am able to turn weaknesses into working progress opportunities. Excellent teacher!!!!
I really had a bad clinical placement. The manager, preceptor, and other nurses were not supportive to start. Franklin really turned that around. He not only stuck up for me he also made sure there was a good relationship between me and those at placement. He was always available and made me work for my marks. Wish i had him for my other classes.
I like how he integrates real-world experiences into his lectures and is knowledgeable about clinical-related discussions. However, his teaching style is very abstract and can sometimes get too into his own personal life. When it comes to essays, he also has many rules of his own that I did not see written in the rubric.
Amazing professor. Really let's you know what he is looking for and wants you to succeed. Always available during office hours if needed and will never rush you. Super awesome! If you have him for NSE11, he makes it totally worth it! Also understanding with commuters!
Excellent lectures. Franklin really makes you learn. He makes the abstract materials so real life like. I wish more professors were like him. Would definitely take again +++
Probably one of the most honest teachers I met. He really wants you to do well. He makes himself available to you. Now its up to you if you want his help, but he is almost always available. ++++. Definitely recommend him.
Just passed my NCLEX thanks to Franklin's guidance. Best prof ever
He DOES NOT TEACH. you will have to read all the readings and make your own notes, awful professor, switch out of his class if you can! He usually goes on talking about his life, and events (non course-related) for more than half a class, then rush through the actual content in the last half hour. He is a funny person though!
Im currently enrolled in nse11. Professor Gorospe seems very helpful. He gives good review relating the last weeks content into his weeks. Some of the comments here are interesting, i do agree that some of my classmates dont like the heavy reading but it is university not highschool or college. So reading is required. Great prof!!!!
Franklin is such a nice person. He makes time for you. I'm now in my third year, don't have him this semester, and he's always makes time to help me navigate through the program. Very supportive and helpful. If you can take him, he will help you. Courses are difficult, specially the exams, but he will do his best to help you if you ask.
Best prof ever. Totally helpful and very accessible. He helped me through even after i graduated. Now i passed my nclex thanks to Franklin. Excellent mentor!!!!
Its been nearly a year since i got my licence. Franklin is the most helpful person. I finally gave up. I paid a resume company, went to take some workshops for interview preparation and still after 8 months no interviews. After only spending 4 weeks with franklin, got 3 job interviews and was successful in 2. Best prof and mentor ever!!!!
Franklin is the nicest professor I have. He really makes me work my grade, but makes learning fun. All of my classes are so boring. Its like I really want to study for his classes. Makes classes fun and interactive. +++ would take again ;)
Franklin's teaching style is incongruent with the high school method. He challenges his students to think and link concepts via the use of creative examples. The course is concept and theory-heavy as the title suggests. Top grades are easily achievable if you put in the required work and pay close attention in class. He's also very accessible.
I really liked having Franklin as my theory prof. I would've found theory classes boring if it wasn't for him. He has great analogies and makes you critically think. He's also very approachable! I loved going to his theory class and would definitely like to have him again as my prof.
This is a very hard course. Im so happy i got Franklin. He makes the course that much more valuable. If you take this course, pay close attention to what he says. He really helps you succeed in this very gruelling course. By the end, what i thought i couldnt write - i did well in thanks to franklin. Best prof ever
Probably the most helpful instructor. He really gives you good feedback. He helps you to do the best that you can. I never used to talk to any profs, but i did for this course. He helped me turned my grades around and be a better writer. +++++ thank you
I am very thankful for Franklin. Not only is he super busy, he took the time to help me with my letter of intent to grad school. I appreciate his support throughout this process. I am also very grateful for the letter of reference. I just found out I got in. THANK YOU FRANKLIN!!!
Having a previous university experience, initially, I found him to be very tough. However, over the weeks I learned what he was trying to do. Franklin really cares for his students. He really wants us to be sustainable critical thinkers. In my experience, his the first professor that cared enough to help me think.
He's very tough, really makes you work for it. But he is fair. Make sure you work on your writing. And make sure you attend class. He is very helpful and smart. He can tell if you know what you're talking about. Run your ideas by him. I also had him for two other courses after this course. Awesome teacher +++
He's a hard marker for sure, but he's also super engaging. His feedback on papers is really specific - literally down to the paragraph and line - which is super helpful. He's a little quirky so it helps if you have a sense of humour! Overall, made a very dull, awful course quite fun. He also has a lot of work experience - get him as a reference!
Very direct in explaining what he wants from papers. Do exactly what he says and you'll do great. Very accessible outside of class and available to discuss content. He remembers faces really well so he'll know if you're skipping. Very realistic and understanding about life circumstances (e.g. illness, family matters) and is cool with extensions.
Great!
There is a big difference between the expectations they had of us in college versus university. This is one of the hardest courses I have taken. I'm really glad I had franklin as my professer. He is so helpful, and really does help. Very smart person. He makes me think. I Franklin because he is always there for us.
Franklin made my transition into 1st year of university less frightening and gave me hope of doing well in school. His lectures are enjoyable,he is a very funny prof and also teaches the content in an application way so you tend to remember it more easily. If you follow his grading criteria & follow what he says this class is an easy A guaranteed.
Best Prof EVER! That's all that's needed to be said! Experience for yourself.
Initially he does appear tough, he is very helpful. He will position you to succeed. In my case as a grad student, franklin facilitated the discovery of my topic. Of course, i put it countless hours and probed his brain many times. He is very helpful and very intellectual. His lectures are very application and critically driven. Experience it for u
This course is hard and the first assignment is very important so don't mess it up. He uses stories and examples to help students understand concepts. If you don't understand something just ask him he's easy to reach but might reply with vague answers if he's already explained it. By the end of the course if you stick around you'll appreciate him.
He is so helpful. I had him for 2 years now(306, 407) He may seem like he doesn't care, but he really does. He goes above and beyond. If u don't believe me, try it. He's super helpful.
Your approach to teaching is greatly appreciated. I find your teaching style motivational. It is interesting that the previous comment failed to appreciate the high level thinking required for this class. For the others, speak to this lecturer directly. He will do his best to support your learning. ++ definitely will take his other classes ;)
I've had Franklin now for 3 classes. He is very helpful. I can see why some of the other students may not like him. He is tough. He ensures that you do your readings. He makes you think. Lets face it, this is university. We have to learn how to think. His teaching approach is very engaging makes your learn. Amazing for feedback!
Very helpful. Franklin really helps you. He is always available to help. Just make sure you are ready when you message him, he'll respond pronto!
Hes the most helpful ever. This course was super hard. I'm not a numbers person. He does so much to make you learn. I feel like Franklyn really cares for us to succeed. But you gotta listen to his teaching. He made it so understandable. +++++ awesome prof
He is such a nice person. If every prof was like him I'd work harder. Nicest person ever+++
I really find stats hard. Now that i'm in it - its even harder. Im so happy and thankful for Franklin. He makes stats seem so easy. This really motivates me to learn. Heres that thing tho - stats is still hard.. I still have to read. But the way he teaches it makes it so easy to understand. if you can take him, take him. Hes really good and nice.
All I gotta say is that Franklin is the most accessible and helpful instructor. He give you as much help as I needed. He's tough, but he makes you learn. Statistics is very difficult for me, but Franklin made this course the best course I learned from. Take him if you want to make the most out this course.
Informative, gives good examples that students can identify with throughout the lecture, gauges for confusion and reassess his examples. You can see his passion for teaching and learning. Very adamant about APA, if you don't have this skill, you will be penalized, but otherwise very fair in the way he grades. Enjoyable class. Very smart individual.
Franklin is very strict at first. Once you earn his trust, he really helps you a lot. I really wish I had him throughout. Very inspirational and cares for his students
He is very helpful. Whenever I had a question, he was always available. He can be strict, but I think it's because he wants his students to do well. Ask him about the assignments. He tells you exactly how to do them. I learned to trust him. He is nice once you get to know him. Super smart.
VERY abstract in the way he conveys course information. May not be helpful for those who prefer a concrete, to-the-point teaching style. At times very hard to understand! Often goes off topic & discusses career accomplishments. Slides are often skipped. Most, if not all material had to be self-taught unfortunately.
Bossy, talking irrelevant, put unnecessary pressure on students.
Overall not recommended
The course itself was heavy but Frank made sure to simplify the topics to make it understandable. He also gives pointers on how to write the papers. He can be generous in grading the assignments but he is strict on how you actually write them. He is available 24/7 if you have any questions. The man does not sleep! lol
The most helpful instructor. I really appreciate his teaching style. He engages students. He makes you learn. He teaches so you do well in critical thinking evaluations like exams and papers. Very helpful. Tough but very nice and caring.
Wow! I wish all my profs are like him. He's so passionate in his teaching. This class was boring. Franklin made theory real enjoyable. He related the course materials to the assignments. Very fair marker. Super smart. He made class a great experience. Worth while taking him. Always helpful.
He is an amazing teacher. Very knowledgeable. Franklin wants students to produce amazing writing pieces. Hard marker, but loved his course. Most learning I've ever had. He will make you learn.
Had franklin since 2nd year. Very inspirational. Just got into my MN program thanks to Franklin. Excellent mentor!!!!
Franklin is so helpful. He is very fair. He tells you exactly what you need to do. This course is very different from other courses. This is an online course. Make sure you listen to Franklin. Franklin will tell you how to be successful in this course. Very accessible and helpful! Definitely hope to get him again.
Had Franklin for third year. I'm so lucky to have him again. I emailed him with questions he got back to me right away. Hasn't changed a bit. Best prof ever!!! Very helpful. Was dreading this class, now I feel a little better!
I think taking him makes me not sleep. I was falling asleep, but he helps me itnerestd in the lesson hes teaching. He makes the boring topics fun. I am so happy to be in his class. Very nice person.
Most helpful teacher ever. I wish all of my professors were as helpful as Franklin. He comes off strong, but if you ask him for help he will move mountains for you! Hope I can have him for my other classes.
Most helpful prof ever. He seems tough, but is so helpful.
Franklin is an alright professor, can be hot or cold depending on the day, so ask him questions when his lectures seem more fun and interactive. Really tough with his marking. Dont come late, he hates that and will let you and the rest of the class know it. Has lots of useless stories, sometimes its better to do readings at home.
Franklin is always available. He is tough when it comes to papers but fair. I find that he wants his students to do well, but he makes you work for it. He is always available to help, like literally. I appreciate his intent to make my quality always be high.
If you want to a hard marker, take him. He will really teach you how to be better. I know I'm not good with papers and tests. Franklin was always available and made time for me. With his unreal busy schedule, he still made time for me. He will push you to be better. If you want an easier road, may want to switch to another class.
He's so helpful. Probably one of the few teachers who care. Definitely recommend +++
I wish I had him for my other classes. He's super helpful. He cames off tough, but I felt like he really wanted me to be better. Excellent prof.
I had him as a teacher and faculty advisor. As a teacher he was always there to answer my questions. He's very accessible. He's not that different as an FA. He's very helpful when you need. I had good experience. He is very strict on papers. Make sure you edit your papers. He notices the big and small issues. Super helpful comments.
I like his approach. He really challenges my way of thinking. I especially really like how he brings in research to nursing problems. If only other teachers helped me learn more. +++ very helpful.
I wish he would balance storytelling with actual course content. It is baffling on how he speaks about himself non stop.
Probably the most helpful person. I really like his teaching style. He uses real clinical examples. Maybe because he's one of the few lecturers that actually practice. He made my learning and understanding concepts much easier. Very high energy keeps you paying attention.
Very helpful. Mr. Franklin helps us do techniques properly. He is very kind and patient. Very skillful practitioner that teaches you how to do things properly. He makes health assessment really easy to learn. He takes the content and he makes it fun while teaching in depth.
Had Franklin for 3rd and 4th year now. I say, he really pushes his students. Some students like it, some don't. For me, I find him very good for my career. I want to be in formal leadership, he really helped me develop my ability to write and communicate. He helped me learn how to study. I think if you want to grow, take him. It worked for me.
Three courses I had Franklin. He expects good work from you. The good thing is he makes you better. Some students don't like that since its hard work but its worth it. He really cares for you to be better. I highly recommend him if you want to do more school. He helped with my masters application and now Im glad I had him. He's tough for a reason.
Most helpful teacher ever. Always available to help.
I wish I had him for other courses. This is the first time I had Franklin. I will say, he really is always there for me. My clinical I do 12 hr shifts, and whenever I need him, he's always available. He really wants me to succeed. He pushes for me to get as much experiences at clinical.
Very helpful instructor who went above and beyond for me. Thank you.
This instructor does have high standards. I think he wants to give his students the chance to pursue higher schooling. For me, more schooling is not my goal but I do like how he cares about making me a better. If you take him, make sure you follow his instructions. Comments in the paper is very helpful.
Franklin is so accessible. During this covid19crisis he answers our questions like within minutes of message. I can't believe how helpful he is you can tell if he's doing other things but he always makes time for us (he's passionate about nursing no joke, he works with some I know in hospital and he's apparently really good)
I switched into his class because of all the good reviews but I regret it. He does not teach at all. He spends the entire 3 hours of lecture telling the class stories about his life/workplace that sometimes is not even relevant to the course material at all. This sucks because the exams are really difficult. He's also an extremely tough grader.
professor franklin is so nice and funny. hes very easy to ask questions to or contact if needed. it is obvious he cares about his student. his energy in the class is awesome especially in the mornings! he is extremely knowledgeable. ive had him twice now and hope to have him again!
I had Franklin now for 3 out of the 4 years. He really has taught me to be an independent thinker. He is tough but really fair. In my experience, his teaching technique seems chill - but he does it so subtely that I didn't even realize that I was getting better. Got my first job before graduation!!! THANK YOU Franklin!
good energy, lectures are entertaining, HOWEVER they have nothing to do with the content being taught. This really sucks because the exams and midterms are hard. MEMORIZE the tb slides/readings, READ articles. marks extremely hard on papers, overcomplicates easy stuff, makes pop quiz happen on day when most students arent there bc of another test
Lectures are interesting however NOT RELATED to course content. You are better off skipping class and doing the work at home. Overcomplicates everything for NO reason and does not even try to understand your question if it isn't worded how he likes it to be. horrible prof just avoid him at all costs.
I am so happy to have had him. Its been a few years. Honestly, he is still the same. He always makes time for me. I started on the floor last year. He really helped me get into where I wanted to go ICU. Some of the students in this forum should make the most out of knowing him. He can help you like he helps me. Definitely recommend him as teacher.
Had Franklin for one of the core courses in my masters stream. I must say, he is very humble, yet very smart. For me, I sought clarification and expectations. He is very clear and straightforward. I can see why some students here don't like his approach; he does make you think. He is tough if you like to be spoon fed. Truly appreciate his methods.
Had Franklin first time this year. I can see why some don't like him. He is a very intelligent person and expects students to show interest. Once you do he is very helpful. The problem is that there's a lot of entitled students who want things for free. I had to learn how to write. My experience has been great. But beware, you will need to work!
He can be somewhat entertaining, although conceited at the same time. Will refer back to himself a lot in a boastful way during his lectures to the point he won't even be talking about the class content .... or too much about it like a know it all... tries to be the cool guy , although he does seem to be inspirational at times
He talks about his work a lot. I think he is really passionate about his hospital work. He uses real scenarios when taught me epi. Very knowledgeable, can be a little intimidating. Good teacher. Recommend him for tough topics.
He will respond to your email really quickly. He tells many stories during lecture class, which is nice, however, I wish he would spend more time and focus on lecture contents. He said he will leave 1 hour of class for group project, but that did not always happen. Attend every class; he will hand out pop quizzes when the class size is small.
Had Franklin for my first class and also for management. Beware, he will make you work hard sometimes a little much for my head Avoid his class if you like information given. He focuses on your deep learning using real cases. He's a tough grader. Tip do what he tells you about papers and tests. He gives good tips. For me he saved me from failing
Franklin has clear expectations when it comes to assignments. As long as you make sure to listen to his every word about what he wants, you will do good. The exams were difficult but that is expected of a nursing course. Participation quizzes were given so attending class was required even though I did not learn from the lectures.
Had Franklin for my theory course. Learned a lot of about theory with him. He made theory so understandable. He uses concrete clinical examples to help me understand. His assignment instructions are very clear. I like how he tells you exactly what he expects. I wish his lectures were shorter. He is very accessible outside of class. +++ Helpful
This prof aint about them reading off slides. He makes you think. He values your time - always accessible in and out of class. Although I hated quizzes, I can see they made sure you attended class. Very helpful. I will say that some students didn't like his approach - some students wanted him to read off the slides. He uses real situations.
Most helpful teacher. Really knows his stuff. He helped study for nxclex last year. Well respected and known in the practice field.
Franklin is a kind of prof that can help you figure out your whole life, not just this class. He is very inspirational and he teaches outside the box. His teaching style might not be the most helpful for tests since profs who create tests are more "by the book" than him. But he would make sure to let you know what you need to study to pass tests.
Franklin is a very nice professor. He made me learn that I have to work hard. He is clear with marking. Make sure you listen to what he says. ;) helpful.
Most helpful teacher I've ever had. I'm glad I got him in this class. Makes the content interesting.
Most helpful teacher ever. He makes time for his students. I wish other teachers and preceptor's were like him.
This instructor is so helpful. He is straight to the point. He makes time for his students. He is very clear with instructions.
Prof is great in terms of not having a dull class but he does not go over class material at all! It's useless going to the lectures, you're better off saving your commute money and doing the readings at home. He purposely did a pop quiz when everyone was away because they had a midterm in a major nursing course which I thought was super unfair
Franklin is a very helpful teacher. Personally, I thought his approach was appropriate for the content. But I did book several appointments with him to help me with the readings. That was a lifesaver. He does make you learn - its hard to appreciate when you have so many other classes. But he really cares for me to learn not just memorize.
Mr. Gorospe is very approachable. This course was my first semester. He was very kind and gave clear guidance and instructions. I didn't do so good in the first paper but he help me understand why and how to be better. Very nice person.
He's tough, but really cares for you to be the best you can be. Franklin really helped me be better. Now I got a job and starting school. Thank you!
Franklin is a great teacher. He does bring in a lot of research and clinical stories. Coming from centennial, I wasn't use to this style since most of my teachers weren't researchers. He taught me how to use evidence. Once I understood his ways of teaching really helped me with my studies. Very helpful person.
He's such a helpful teacher. In school he would always help us when we needed. Had him for a semester almost 2 years ago. Reached out to him because I was having a hard time finding a hospital job. He didn't remember me, but still helped me. Thank you!
Franklin is very helpful. I would not have succeeded without him pushing me to do better. Thank you.
Honestly, had a hard time with this course. I really didn't know how to do well. Literally thought it was going to be easy only to realize that I was doing poorly C- midterm. I reached out to him for help, at first I was annoyed that he didn't give me answers - then I realized he was making me learn. I ended up with B+. Very effective instructor.
Franklin is very helpful. He really makes you learn. I was frustrated that he didn't just give me the answers to begin. Thankfully, he helped me find my own answers. This made me write the paper more deeper.
He's very helpful.
This instructor is probably the most helpful. We had this assignment that I thought was easy, it wasn't. He literally worked with me until I figured it out. He didn't give me the answers (wish he did), instead he asked me questions. He's very helpful.
Franklin is by far the worst prof I've had. Taught myself the entire class content. Most of his lectures would be "examples" from his life that barely relate to the course material. He is very picky about assignments but will have his TA mark everything. His feedback is always inconsistent with TA feedback and generally VERY vague. Picks favourites
After my first paper, I came to him for help. He's very helpful. He is tough, but he makes you a better writer. I wish other instructors cared as much as he does. Real eye opener that helped me
This was such a boring course if it wasn't for Franklin. He made theory really interesting. +++really makes sure I learned. If you can see beyond his tough approach, hes very helpful and accessible. I hope I get him again.
Franklin is okay prof not the best, if you have him for theory he entertaining and helpful. But if you are aiming for a good GPA try and find a different prof.
Franklin is a nice teacher and really wants his students to succeed, however he isnt the best teacher. He is accessible outside of class, this year has been a mess and out of all the profs he is the better option only because he is the only one who answers emails frequently. But he gives vague responses, which can lead you to being more confused.
had him in 3rd and 4th year. When i had him in third year I hated him bc he failed my paper. His marking can SEEM brutal "unfair" but trust me when i say HE CARES SO MUCH ABOUT YOU. he is ALWAYS there for you. he gives you the feedback you DESERVE TO SUCCEED. his teaching is misunderstood. He was the only prof that even replied to our emails.
His replies to your questions can sometimes be vague but he does it for a reason. he wants you to learn... its the whole reason youre in school. honestly, I cried when i saw I had him as a prof for the second time, but now I finally understand that hes not tough because he hates you, he wants you to succeed and he cares about helping your future.
I had him for 2 straight years. Hated him every step of the way. Now that I'm done with him, I cannot believe how much he challenged me. He has so many students, and he gives us as much help as possible. Thank you for being so helpful, I wish I realized that sooner. Hard but great for making me better.
Most helpful teacher ever. Almost failed this course. So thankful for Franklin. +++ would take again
This is probably the hardest course I took so far. Franklin is a tough grader. I was sure that I was a good paper writer. Had excellent grades, but man, he can make you better. I like how much feedback he gave me to make me better. Be prepared to have your ego shook!! Will take again.
Franklin is so helpful when I needed him. I really owe him my job. Thank you!
I came into this program scared. Franklin is super helpful. He's so approachable. Hope to get him again.
This is 3 times now I got Franklin. I must say he is consistent when he cares for students to do well. We just started this course and already he's been available for all of my questions. He makes the hard stuff manageable. I'm glad I have him again.
So far I have been lucky with my professers at Ryerson. This teacher just started and he is already so helpful. He makes himself available for us. I am still learning how to study for this course, and he helps me understand the readings. Thank you!
Very helpful. He makes things easier to study. I feel better studying because of his help.
Thanks to Mr. Frank he helped me with my paper. He is very helpful always available whenever I have questions. Thanks.
Franklin is so helpful. He responds to emails quickly. He made things easy for me. Without his help, I really would not have passed the test. Makes you learn and that's what I need to prepare for nclex. I'm glad I have him.
Mr. Franklin is probably the quickest email responder. He seems always available to emails I send. So far he's very helpful and always there for students. Just hoped all my teachers were as fast answering questions.
He can seem tough, but he will always help. I noticed that the moment I had a question, he would respond faster than I can turn off my mac. He's very clear. This is the 2nd time now I had him. +++ helpful. Makes hard topics easier.
To be honest, Franklin is pretentious and inconsiderate. He speaks with a really fast incoherent delivery with lots of jargon and while speaking to the class he seems kind and understanding at times, he really isn't. He is unforgiving for minor things and doesn't make an effort to understand students' perspectives.
I respect the guy and all but I find him very intimidating. States the flaws of our assignments which isn't really a great way to start off a lecture. He's a tough grader and has high expectations that are unrealistic. Expects us to all have PhD level writing and docks huge marks off if it doesn't.
I'm very happy to have Franklyn. He really helps me to be a better writer. Got my assignment back with ++++ comments that are so detailed. Will definitely use these for my other courses. Tough but fair.
He expects quality work from students. For me I really appreciate this about Franklin. Because of him, I can honestly say I made corrections with my writing. He points out details that helps me be better. I know some of my classmates don't like that, but I want to pursue masters after. So I really than him for this.
I'm used to professors who talk about what they used to do or where they used to work. This guy currently does it all. The thing about this teacher is that I can't even be mad at his grading of me. He's clear and very much tells me exactly what's wrong and how to be better. He's very much the same from when he explains the paper to grading.
Some teachers say they are available, but they really aren't. Franklin is really nice. He doesn't come off as a nice prof, can be intimidating cuz he knows a lot. After meeting with him, he was interested in helping me. He really goes out of his way to help. Hope i get him again.
I really think that he's hard for a reason. To me personally I can see why he makes us work for it. I have a ICU placement, and I always resort back to how he made me think during class like whats the problem whats some things i can do as a nurse. It sounds basic, but man its superhelpful specially in a stressful work area. Great teacher but hard.
The instructor is always available. Several times now I messaged him for help and he got back to me so quickly. He helped me make my assignment better.
If you get this prof for 306 - CHANGE YOUR COURSE. He doesn't actually teach anything, he just talks about his work and marks you like you're a masters student. I am getting nothing from this course other than stress and anxiety. His TA isn't any better. SWITCH SWITCH SWITCH, especially if you want a decent GPA.
I wish I had this teacher from first year. Ive gotten 3 papers now, his comments are very usefeul and makes you think to be better. His teaching is pretty much the same as others, but the main difference for me is that he uses actual real scenarios. If you are looking for an easy A, then switch. If you want to learn and be better, then take him.
Very helpful. He seems to be available for us when we need him. Just finished a big paper. Our group had problems with meet-ups since we all worked. Franklin made himself available to us many times whenever we needed him. He really helped us with our paper. The course is usual, hard is++ readings. I think for me his helpfulness made the difference.
This instructor is tough. But he will also make sure that you come out prepared. At the end of the day, we become independent nurses. In my experience, I had him for 3 out of the 4 years at Ryerson. At first, he did seem hard. For me that was good, now that I'm working I always think of the problem solving he drilled in my mind. Excellent mentor!
He's very helpful. He really helped through this program. I cannot say enough thank yous. He made himself always there when I needed him. Frank helped me work through my study habits having to juggle school and work. Greatful for his help. He also helped me obtain a position from my placement. So happy to be here. Frank was very impactful for me.
Franklin is very helpful. I wish I sought his help earlier in the term. I had to redo my groups paper, he's very critical, and he helps me improve.
This course caused me pain. The FA for this course gives 1 word comments and then proceeds to annihilate you in the rubric. Your writing may or may not get better. He will let you know what he's looking for in a paper right after you submit it which I found most frustrating.
This prof will purposely give you low marks and slowly increase it to show your "growth". This course is overall assignment heavy and this prof will mark you difficult so avoid to save your GPA. He also speaks really fast which makes it hard to listen and catch everything. Overall poorly run course and ineffective teacher. Disrespectful to students
This instructor was very helpful. My group thought this was gonna be a near impossible assignment but he literally walked us through it. I'm glad we met with him regularly. He saved our paper. Accessible always.
I'm glad I went to class. He really gives you what he expects for assignments. Just got my assignment and he feedback is so helpful. I literatlly using it for my other assignment LOL. Hope to get him again. Very clear.
He really cares that you do things the right way. For me - this was hard to realize. He told my group that our paper was not ready - but that made us work harded. My group members were not serious about the assignment, it was half effort. After meeting with him he told us where we can improve. Spend the extra time, this teacher will teach you.
Franklin is very accessible. This is like the busiest person I ever met, but the moment I send him an email he responds like within minutes. He makes himself available to students, well atleast thats been my experience this year. I must have asked him +++ questions and he keeps responding the same way. I'm glad I had him for this very heavy course.
Been a few years since I had this prof. He still pretty much the same. He's still guides me. I sent him an email since work is so hard right now, he replied immediately. After I met with him he connected me with his contacts. I will say he's still the same person who challenges me to be better. I'm glad I reached out. I feel he makes me get better.
I'm really glad I have him for this course. He made me study bios a little different than before. You do have to make an appointment. Once you do, he will do everything to help you learn. For me, this is very helpful because NCLEX is around the corner. I did have to work on it, and he guided me through it. So be prepared to work +++
This is the first time I took a corse with this professor. The comments here are helpful. Professor is hard. For me, I ask for his help. He is very good making time and talking to me. Professor Franklyn is smart and he makes you smart. He helps me understand the lessons and helps me be a better writer. Professor makes you think and be better.
Probably the most useful instructor I had when I was at Ryerson. I am very thankful for his comments in my papers. I use them now in my masters. I wished more teachers gave as much effort to grading as this instructor. I wish I have him again. Fair warning, this teacher tells you exactly whats wrong with your work. Good idea to speak to him before.
if you can switch, PLEASE DO. He has to be the worst prof ever. He marks everyone like a PhD or Masters student. He acts better than you and can be very inconsiderate. He gives vague instructions and help when needed. Overall, I would avoid. There's a different between being hard on students and being inconsiderate.
He reminds me of that teacher when I was taking the course I dreaded taking them, but when looking back - that was the teacher who really cared and they were there to make you better. This teacher reminds me of someone who forces you to know your stuff. I had him last term. Now that I have him again, he makes me think and that forces me to know.
Had franklin as an FA for 2 classes now. I must say he really knows ppl in nursing. I was at a placement that I didn't like for both semester. I told him that I wanted to end up working at another department. He's no nonsense. He told me exactly what to do. I got an interview, and after he guided me I got the job - Full time!!! THANK YOU!!!!
This course was hard. The tests were really hard for me. The 1st paper was so helpful. Franklin gives really helpful feedback. He was so specific that I used his comment (must have taken him a lot of time) to literally do the 2nd assignment postings. He really helped me with that 2nd assignment my saving grace. THANK YOU!!!!!
This instructor is like the others. But what makes him different is that he makes himself available to help you. That's no joke, he will do what ever he can to help you. Hes a good teacher, but truly cares about how students do in his class. Just show him effort. I did, he was so helpful.
The problem with the nursing profs is how far they are form being a nurse. They tell you to do this and that but they worked decades ago. I think this is what makes Franklin credible. You will notice that he is straight to the point. He will argue for the patients view whether its theory, issues, or patho course. He puts pts first. Hard but good.
This was probably the most work i put in a course. The assignments were very time intensive. After the first assignment, Franklin's feedback was so helpful. He really guided me to understand what I can make better and what I can keep. Overall, very helpful and student focused. He made time for me even when it was last minute requests.
Franklin is a very helpful person. I had him almost a year ago, and when I connected with him asking for help - he remembered me. He hooked me up with people in the hospital and helped me plan out how to work towards getting a position in cardiology. Very helpful teacher.
Being this my first course for Ryerson, I am thankful for Mr. Franklin. I am not a good paper assignment, but he he was always there whenever I had a question. Even though he doesn't give me the answer, he guides me to look for my answer that give me confidence. I am hoping to get him again. I learn and like him teaching and help.
He's the nicest. He helped me get my summer job. Thank you!!!
What makes the teacher different is because he will do as much as he can for us students, and also be so helpful giving you comments that you can work with to make the writing better.
Franklin is very helpful. He made sure that all my questions were answered. He did so much to help my class, I felt bad cuz he was always available for questions and office hours. Even now that I'm done school, he is still answering my questions. +++ Excellent teacher, mentor, and reference - got my dream job!!!!!
Midway in this BScN program, I am glad that this teacher is helpful. He is accessible and very clear in what he expects from assignments. I just wish that I had him for my other class.
Save yourself and your GPA - switch out if you can.
Do not take a class with Franklin. Yes he can make you work for your mark. But overall, the stress isnt healthy. Save your GPA and run
Had Franklin last year. He makes you smarter. Man I wish I had him in year 2 and I could have learned more. He will make you be better. I hope i have him for final semester! Very accessible and clear instructions.
I agree that this teacher is hard, but I recall that the courses he teaches are hard content. This course is no different, this patho heavy. You have to read before class. Franklin made the content so much manageable. He makes it so easy for you. The problem for me was when I didn't read, I had a hard time understanding it. Great Teacher, he cares.
He is egocentric and his discussion board assignments grading can be absurd. He will comment on how he would have written this or that and mark you heavy just because . He is conceited and will mark you hard so his feeling of superiority remain high over the students. Nobody from my class liked him. Just do your best and you can pass .
This course was a little confusing to understand. This teacher made himself available and hosted regular online workshops. He made the assignments that much more manageable. Consider attending these. I know its an online course, but these meetings really help. He will explain. Very clear instructions.
I really didn't like this course, but I do think that Franklin made it easier. He is very helpful. Whenever I emailed him he responded right away. Like same day. Like same hour. The course itself was too much work, but try to attend his classes. He makes it easier. He tells you how improve. Make sure you use his feedback. I would take him again!
I would put 5 but his tests were hard. I learned a lot from Franklin. His teaching makes the bios easier. He uses patient scenarios to help you learn. He walks you through the normal - by the time your done the lesson, you would understand how the disease works. Pretty cool. But he does move fast, he expects you to ask questions during. I like him.
Franklin is straight to the point. Listen to his instructions. He gives very clear instructions. I do wish his class didnt have to be live. My class was a friday so it was hard to come to class. He is energetic and he will wake you up. Lots of assignments, but he makes it easy if you follow him. Try to attend classes when he talks about assignments
I am so thankful for having mr. Franklin. He helped me work smarter. He was always available to help me with my questions. He really helped with my paper and my studies. He was always accessible.
This course was really heavy. I mean it had a lot of things to do. I think we had an assignment due every week. This teacher is very helpful. I felt he was there to make sure that his students did not fall behind. For me, I put things off to the last minute. But in Franklin's class, I was always ahead. He will help you stay on top of your work. ;)
Currently enrolled in this class. I heard horror stories about this course being so much work. I think there is a lot of work and I think they are hard. But this teacher makes things seem so manageable. After the first class I feel like Im not worried. He is also available for my questions - I had a lot. I hope I pass. Definitely like him so far.
This is the best prof i've had. He is very clear. Today he took the most boring content and made it fun. He uses a lot of real scenarios. It seems like he really knows his stuff, but doesn't come off arrogant. He makes sure that you learn the stuff. I feel confident about this test coming up. Glad I switched to his class.
The instructor provides very clear instructions. He incorporates the assignments into his lectures. Very engaging like he makes you want to participate. He uses problem based approach to get the ideas across. Its really entertaining to see. He makes the hard content seem easy. The issue is that you have to keep up with his thinking, he's smart.
He is probably the most accessible teacher i've ever had. The moment i press send on the email, he responds like right away. For me this is so good because it doesn't hold up my studies. I think he understands what its like to be a student. He really went above and beyond for me. Background - I have a test monday, had ++ questions. Thank you.
This is the first time I am taking a Ryerson course nursing with Franklin. I like that he is always there to help. I can ask him many questions and he wants to help. Thank him. Nice Teacher.
There's a reason why only a few people teach this course - Franklin is outstanding at teaching. He's just about the best I've experienced between this degree and my previous bio. Franklin starts with what you know and relates what you know and grows that to the new content. He uses a staging approach. You still have to read, but he makes it easy.
He is such a nice teacher. Being in university is kind of intimidating for me. Franklin really helps me adjust. I ask him so many questions and he answers immediately. He checks in on how we do being student. I am so thankful for his helping kindness. Very helpful.
I struggled with this case paper we had to submit. Even tho I'm not proud of my paper, I must say Franklin was there every step of the way. I must have sent him a million emails. And he responds even before I can recheck my email. I felt like he really tried to guide me for the past few weeks. His lectures help you understand the paper.
I transferred into his class based on what I heard about him. He makes you learn. He is a tough marker, but make sure you listen. He tells you exactly what to do. Very helpful. Super accessible. Emails back within minutes.
I am glad I had Franklin in my last semester. He was very helpful. He answered my questions. I know at the end of the day I have to write the papers, but he provided such detailed guidance. Franklin was so kind in helping me secure a position at my placement. He really helped me. Hope this helps others. Just ask him if you have questions.
This instructor is straight to the point. I liked his clear teaching and instructions. He helped me and my group navigate through our assignment. He didn't give us the answer, he made us think. I liked that he worked with us so we could figure it out.
Franklin is an amazing professor who will go out of his way to ensure you understand the content, as well as give you the facts realistically. I loved how he structured the course/classes to feel like a conversation rather than a lecture. He is an amazing resource/nurse/leader whose guidance informs you of real-world professional practice.
I really enjoyed the teachers live lectures. He uses current stories and news and use research to help understand the topics. He's a hard marker, but if you follow his advice it makes the assignments easier.
DOES NOT TEACH! Most of class he talks about life events... we are paying tuition to learn, not chat. His class has zero structure- AVOID if you like structure and a prof who teaches! He is VERY blunt.. sometimes good, sometimes rude. The only positive is he really preps you for assignments and makes it very clear what he expects.
Here's a double edged sword. He's really hard. But, he's good at teaching you. He makes the boring stuff interesting. Ive been to college and another university, I tell you he makes you learn so fluently - its like he's telling a story. So the bottom line for me is that I really learned and earned from him. To me its his quality that I appreciate.
This course was the same as the other ones. I think what I like about him is his helpfulness. He makes assignments and content easy to learn. For me, I found him fun and not boring. But the course is just dry. He can come off abrupt, but is very accessible.
I used to have Franklin back when I was in school. I can honestly say he is relly helpful. I liked him because patho was the hardest course I took. He made the really hard stuff easier he broke it down for me. I would agree that he helps the students that show interest but that is fair. Bottom line, makes easy to understand and helpful if you ask.
This course is hard. The first few weeks of the course really helped me. Prof. Franklin had a thorough introduction and teaches the material really well. Make sure you pay attention to his teachings during he first few weeks these class discussions give you a good idea about the important stuff about the course. It helped me.
I recently had Franklin in Adult health, he is an amazing teacher. He may not admit it, but he has a passion for nursing. He does his best to make you understand and share his knowledge always willing to explain during and out of class time. He's willing to explain and offer help with learning skills in class. He's FAST to answer emails. HELPFUL!
This was my first time taking Franklin. Like other teacher theres good and bad. The bad is that he expects a lot from his students. To be fair, he does make you learn. The good is that he works and makes time for his students. After my first paper, I asked him to explain - he was very helpful. Take him but you will work.
Prof Franklin is one of the most entertaining nursing teachers I've had. He is passionate about his practice and it spreads to the students. He also loves to interact with the students and makes jokes that are not always funny, but I like how he tries. I wish I could have him for all my nursing courses. He tells you how to do your assignments.
Professor Gorospe genuinely puts so much effort into teaching. He will help you broaden your theoretical stance and truly emphasize the importance of critical method to determine the best course of actions for patients. He's also very accessible. ++ made me think a lot
Franklin is a really good lecturer. He makes it very interesting and seems like your not even in class. I will say very entertaining and relevant. He is knowledgeable. The tests are a little tricky, but overall you can most certainly pass. He will work with you, just reach out. I can't believe how accessible this professor is. Hard but will help!
He claims his stories help broaden our minds and understand course material but my classmates and I found they had no connection. We felt confused and uncomfortable in class. It's odd how he gets away with this in a university setting. Even students in previous years warned us but these ratings had us fooled. +++ bizarre undergrad experience
The professor is very helpful. I really enjoy how he doesn't read from slides that makes me think and learn.
Personally I think he means well. But not all of us want to change the world. I get that he wants his students to be the best that they can, but people like me just want to get a job and travel. He really opened doors for me - only to find that I just wanted my travel nursing job, not masters, not phd. So if you are a go getter, take him.
If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes do so. Franklin goes above and beyond to engage his class every day and provides clear feedback and advice on assignments. He makes the most dull topics interesting.
This class will depend on your ability to be disciplined. There's something due everyweek. With each upcoming test or assignment, make sure to jump start right away so you won't get behind. Franklin is a great lecturer and the notes help you understand. Staying on the right track with the readings will be your clue to do better.
Just about everything about this course is so hard. What I like about this teacher is that he works with you at you level of understanding. Just DO NOT lose focus and you will do great!
By far the worst professor I have ever encountered for my undergrad. He is extremely rude, and unprofessional. He choses "favourites" and expresses opinions that are offensive. I have experienced racism with him and it is clear he has no intention helping his students.
It is very evident that these reviews are not written by previous students. When I had him years ago, he would make inappropriate comments and talk about himself non stop. I barely remember the curriculum being covered. It is unfair to students when the exam is quite difficult as it robs us of learning.
Pointless course, i dont remember learning anything in his class. He would constantly talk about himself, I knew more about his life than the content of the course. he seems nice but he stressed us out. Some of the stuff he said in class made us uncomfortable, he just made me feel very uneasy and anxious. He marks hard.
The instructor is helpful. He understands student situations. For me, he really helped me get through 4th year. He is very resourceful - helped get my first job. He is however a hard marker. Make sure you listen to his instructions. He makes the assignments clear.
Franklin is the most caring prof I had. He wants all of his students to succeed. You can tell he is interested in engaging the class in learning, and is always asking for feedback to make lectures better. All the tests really make you prepare for NCLEX.
He can be aloof and enigmatic, but hes a tremendously perceptive and thoughtful teacher. Worth stopping by his classes. Will chat about almost anything and is genuinely interested in his students. His health assessment class in no nonsense. He will teach you what you need to know.
So far, this has been the most functional best remote learning experience during COVID. We need more teachers like him. He doesn't waste time. He's caring and enthusiastic in making the virtual class as comfortable as possible.
If you see a high rating it's written by Franklin, students get tricked into thinking he's a "intellectually stimulating" prof, when in reality 99% of class is him discussing his personal life. The dean of nursing should be informed, this unprofessional behavior has been going on for years.
Awesome Guy!!! Excellent Motivator!
I liked how he tries to make you see the topic using different ways. He's very patient. Can be a bit corky and sarcastic.
I am 100% sure that Franklin comes on here and writes his own reviews. I and every classmate I have talked to agree that he is by far one of the worst professors. Save yourself the misery and don't take the class with him. I am surprised they let him teach
Great class and great teacher. His lectures are very interesting and the subject material is incredibly interesting and useful. Tests can be fairly difficult and definitely require studying but you will use the stuff you learn in class all the time. I can understand how some people think he is a hard teacher but overall the class is worth it!
These reviews are not written by past students.
Very good teacher. Listen, take notes, be on time and the class is totally reasonable. Hes strict on APA so make sure you do it correctly. Also, for assignments don't worry as much about the instructions he walks you through it.
He is creative, insightful, helpful, and a fabulous role model. He will energize you, stimulate you, and open up new worlds! 5 Stars! He can come off as sarcastic in a funny way.
After getting the worst grade Ive ever received in patho 2nd year, I was terrified to take this patho2 course. The teacher was easily the first professor I had in my this degree that I felt cared about me and wanted me to succeed. He was always willing to go over stuff i didnt understand, and was considerate about my concerns. He was very helpful.
I've been working for four years now, and I can thank most for my success to Franklin. To this day he is always helpful when I have questions.
It's not a lecture class, it's a thinking class. He's pretty entertaining and loud, cracks a few jokes once in a while, but keeps everyone attentive. Gives you clear answers about the assignments. The tests are a little tricky, I've actually learned a lot from just an introductory course. I think he's my favorite so far in this program. .
Excellent Professor, Very clear and very practical, he does well at showing you how to understand the topic.
Absolutely horrendous professor. Talked about himself for an hour and 40 minutes for a three hour class. Had 0 knowledge about what he was actually teaching with saying he'd "get back" to those who asked questions. Told stories with no relevant connections to the content. Avoid at all costs.
Only one lecture with him was more than enough for me to realize that I had to swap my course to another prof. Avoid this guy if you want to learn patho. Such a big change from last semester with Dr. Bishop as instructor. He reads off the slides and off his notes. He doesn't explain how a pathophysiological process in the body occurs.
This is the worst professor I have ever seen!! He doesn't teach, he just reads off the slides, he's extremely self-absorbed and arrogant. He makes us get into groups and present the patho topics in the powerpoint to the class. Like, isn't that your job?? Don't waste your time with him, it's better to just use the textbook and teach yourself.
Loved him!! Very knowledgeable on the topic and very interested in his students. Definately take his class, it's well worth it. He helps with assignments.
Good teacher but the tests are kinda hard. I feel like I actually learned something in his class.
I can see why people didn't like him. He makes you work in class and really makes you think about the stuff. He takes something very hard and usually monotonous into fun. He doesn't relay on powerpoint to teach bus uses them as resources to teach really hard stuff. Worked for me. And yes, I attend class. But it's still early - I hope I pass.
Loser alert! Talks too much and not about the right things Not funny either
If you don't like being pushed, then you may not like this professor. That was my experience. It has been a few years now since I took this course. At first I didn't like how he made my class write papers in class. Towards the end of class, I can see that he really knows how to teach. He made me a better writer. He continues to help me with jobs.
He is so full of life that it is almost so hard not to get enthused when you are around him. For me he instilled hard work and that you may not always agree with his approach, but he will get you to where you want to go. He is so passionate about his work that he will try to recruit you - he recruited a few of us.
Totally recommend this teacher and easy to talk to. This was a mix course, so the lectures were really fun and interactive. Franklin lectured as if he just having a chat with you, and his dry humour was cool. It was a bit of work to do but I was surprised I did well in his class.
Dr. Gorospe takes a different lecture approach from the norm, which I found extremely helpful. He is very knowledgeable about the content that is taught. He offers us help both in and outside the classes and makes sure we understand concepts. Many of the poor reviews only come from students who have been to 1 lecture and did not give him a chance.
I've been to multiple lectures and I give up. This professor is unprofessional with a superiority complex, and forces the students to teach themselves. He's never once opened the powerpoint and spends too much time talking about himself. He needs to be fired, any good reviews are written by him
He's not bad but he's not good. I wish he teaches us from slides instead of speaking random things that are not in the slides. I am scared that I won't pass his course cause we have to teach ourselves. The only reason why I took this course is so I can relearn everything and be prepared for the HESI/CAT exam. I am praying lets everyone pass.
In class lectures are amazingly clear. Pay attention, he makes it the topics seem easy. Beware, he uses a lot of critical thinking techniques...week 1 was awesome....different the week after....makes the topics interesting...overall I like him. He made me think.
Very fun to watch and listen to. Makes the readings come alive with his theatrical very animated teaching. He does make a ton of references that you will not get if you don't do the readings, but will undoubtedly accept any ideas that you have as long as you can back them up. Encourages independent thinking and quite funny.
Most of the bad reviews were written early in the semester...makes sense as they didn't give him a chance. True he does not use didactic teaching so if you love it, maybe not for you. I can say I have never had an easier time putting concepts together because of him. He makes class fun and engaging and really cares about his students!
Franklin is...interesting. I like him a lot as a person, but I don't think I will recommend him as a professor for NUR823. His freelance styled kinda ruined the whole point of this class being an NCLEX prep. He is a tough grader, and he doesn't teach or prepare you for his tests. You are on your own in this class. As a nurse though, he rocks!
I really liked how supportive he has been over the past year. Had him for 2 classes. I got sick this year and he was so understanding and let me work at my own pace. If there was ever a topic in which related to my sickness, he would always be there to answer any question and if he connected with me the resources. He was kind.
Awesome teacher. He really tries to be available for us the students. He relly knows what he is talking about, very understanding of his students and cares about them. Have him again this sem. YAAAY
It is difficult to attend his classes, he goes on rants and tangents about his personal life, distracting you from the course content. I did not enjoy his lectures and he is a difficult marker for papers.
He's a great teacher and always there for you if you just wanted to talk whether it be stress or advice. Some of his advice can be a bit daring like work at a hospital while doing your masters but he wants you do good work. Just listen and take decide for yourself whether it is best for you. I found him to be very helpful.
Straightforward about the material and very helpful. Also very accessible outside of class. Franklin was really helpful in turning this course around for me.
Although its not my favorite course, it was the best class i have taken here. This teacher really opened my eyes to a lot of things. Now, in terms of writing, this was the most writing i've ever done. But he was so helpful and accessible whenver I had questions. Overall, good but lots of work.
At first I didn't like how energetic he was for such an early course. Then I realized that that's his normal. Good listener, always wants to hear what students think. You can challenge him and he doesn't get upset. Would take another course from him again. He made me gain energy by interacting in his class.
Great teacher, he makes the lectures interesting. But there are so many assignments. The weekly discussion posts mean you have to keep up with the readings or you are screwed. He is very much available for us students, but you still have to read so much.
At first you hear him you already know he is very passionate and knowledgable about the topics he teaches. Very fun guy to talk to, and very helpful when you reach out. If you tell him your interest or career goals he always has tips or even better he will connect you with experts in that area. Very helpful!
Franklin is inspiring he really cares about each and everyone of the students. Most of my classmates are not able to make it to class cuz most of us work. Franklin is always available whenever we have questions. He makes his schedule for his students. He really helped me work on my assignment. Thank you.
Franklin is great! I heard AWFUL things about the professional practice courses, and was really dreading it, but it was very fair with Franklin. He's clear about his expectations and his grading is fair. Do the readings and come to class his lectures make you understand the stuff. He can get a little passionate about nursing, but he's great!
goes off topic very frequently and expect him taking about his personal life every class. however he ends early. energetic and fast reply to emails. found him a hard marker for paper but im sure there are people that did very well. overall - okay? as seen from the rating many people love him
Franklin is super helpful. He throws jokes that may not be funny, but makes up for it with his charismatic teaching style. He make the class hand-on. It's an intro course so there isn't much depth, but it's a good start. Willing to go over any examples you find from outside the class, in class. His style worked for a few of me and my classmates.
This was a hard course. I taken physical assessment in the past, the tests were hard. All of the courses this semester was hard. I'm happy with the professor. He is very helpful. He worked with my partner and me. It was hard going to class every week, but happy I did. He helped so much. Thank you.
He is very student centred. He would ask us before every lecture what time we want to leave and most of the time we leave 1.5 hours earlier.
The lectures are all backed with personal stories, which makes the content easier to connect to and relate to. The textbooks are all free but you need to do the weekly readings to do well on the preclass quizzes. He's very accessible outside of class time and goes above and beyond to make you feel supported. The grades are generous with the paper.
A great marker!
Hes very helpful. I really enjoyed his class. He explains EVERYTHING thoroughly during class and replies to emails very promptly. Also allows you to pick his brain about the assignments as long as you do it in person. He helped me earn my highest grade possible. Excellent professor!
This class isn't exactly a walk in the park. The professor? Oh, he's very helpful - he's as fair and kind as they come. He makes every effort to help you understand the topics. He even tries to sprinkle in enough jokes to keep things interesting. If you want to really nail the material, read read read is the way to go.
Franklin is an amazing nursing teacher. He was really helpful when I had trouble focusing and studying. He took extra time to explain things clearly and made sure I understood everything. I'm so grateful for his patience and support. Highly recommend his classes!
i think he realizes we wont end up using much of what we learn from ppn courses, so he spends the class talking about his own experience/lessons and we find the test material on our own. it's to help us become better nurses but i just want better grades.
I don't understand how everyone likes him. We all know the content is boring but as a prof, the least you can do is go over the slides...all he does is yap about his life and tries to be more interactive but comes off as overbearing. He has BARELY any feedback for assignments. The only pro is that he's ok with giving test hints and gives extra time
Hard grader compared to other profs. He also yaps alot during his lectures. wouldnt take again.
Franklyn is awesome! He really knows his stuff when it comes to nursing and helped me a lot with writing papers. His feedback was super helpful in improving my writing skills. He's also really approachable and makes learning fun. Definitely recommend him who's supportive and really cares about his students' success.
Thank you Franklin for your inspiring classes. Your supporting my learning has been very kind. Thank you for working with me. I am so thankful to you for helping me. I was failing now I passed. Thank you!
Franklin is exceptional! His teaching makes the explanations very clear. The topics that seem complex, are easier to understand with his explanations. He works hard at creating a supporting learning that asks for your ideas and uses them to make you learn. Always makes time for students. Thanks to him, I truly grasp the material.
Professor Franklin is passionate and engaging, with a focus on real-world application. The workload is manageable, and the free digital textbook is a nice bonus. Unstuckstudy AI was a helpful study tool alongside the lectures and readings.
Franklin is the most engaging teacher I've ever had! He uses real-life examples to make complex patho easy to understand. His passion for nursing shows, and he ensures every student feels supported. He encourages participation and critical thinking. Definitely take his class if you want to be stay awake!
Franklin was very helpful. He made tough pathophysiology seem simple with real-life examples. He's very clear, made sure we felt included. He really tries to involve you actively to learn and think deep. Wish I had him again for patho.
He seems to do everything except actually teach. He goes on and on about his life stories. And whenever you ask him a question, he just replies with a joke, which only adds to the confusion. Waste of my education money.
It was a difficult class, would not recommend
Wasn't my favorite
I have been in post secondary education for 5 years and I have NEVER gotten a C grade until I took Franklins class basic “nursing communications” course. I got an A in every single other university course this semester. Horrible professor. The worst I've ever had. DO NOT take his class.
Challenging but fair. He pushes you to do your best and provides constructive feedback. Learned so much in his class
He's not just a professor; he's a mentor, a motivator, and honestly, a life coach for nursing students
Dr. G is amazing! He brings real-world nursing into the classroom and prepares you like no other
OMG, Professor Gorospe's class was like, super tough! He grades hard but gives detailed feedback, which is kinda cool. I didn't appreciate it at first, but now I see how much it helped me improve. Totally recommend if you're up for a challenge!
At first, I hated his class. He was so strict and the workload was intense. But now I realize he was preparing us for the real world. His dedication to teaching is legit. If you want to be challenged and grow, take his class
Low-key cried after my first assignment, but by the end of the semester, I was like, ‘Thank you for being so tough on me!' He's like a nursing Yoda—wise, kind, and totally pushing you to be your best
Franklin Gorospe truly focuses on student success. His lectures are clear, and he's approachable for questions. A professor who genuinely loves teaching and helping students
Franklin Gorospe is known for his engaging lectures and his commitment to making learning accessible. Students appreciate his willingness to go the extra mile
Franklin Gorospe makes challenging material easy to understand with his thoughtful explanations and patient approach. He's exactly the kind of professor every student hopes to have
As a professor, Franklin Gorospe sets the standard for excellence. He goes above and beyond to ensure his students succeed and creates a welcoming, supportive classroom environment
Franklin is very patient and never makes you feel bad for asking questions, no matter how small they might seem. He also gives great feedback on assignments and is encouraging when things get challenging. You can tell he really cares about his students and their learning. If you have the chance to take one of his classes, do it—you won't regret it!
Thank you, Franklin, for your guidance and support in helping me pass this course! Truly grateful!
Passed my nclex. Thank you Dr Gorospe
Dr. Gorospe is super chill and explains things in a way that actually makes sense, with real-life examples that stick. He's always there to help.
Dr Gorospe was truly one of the best instructors I had in school. He helped me understand the tough learnings in patho. He broke down complex topics in a way that actually made sense and always took the time to make sure I understood. Thanks to his guidance and support, I passed the NCLEX on my first try! He was always availabe.
Great professor! Explains patho clearly, makes complex topics easy to understand, and is always helpful
Thank you, Dr. Gorospe, for being there for me this semester. I had a lot going on with my health and family, and even though you're tough, you're incredibly kind. Your patience and support helped me get through Patho, and I'm truly grateful. Thank you!
Excellent professor. Returning to school after years in full-time nursing was daunting, but Franklin made it manageable. Always accessible and answers my course questions within minutes. Wish he taught more courses.
A big thank you to Dr. Gorospe. The semester was very hard for me because my family was sick and my mind was not always focused. English is not my first language, so sometimes I struggle to say things the right way. I really appreciate how understanding and supportive he was when I was going through difficult time. Thank you for helping me pass.
Hi Professor Franklin, just wanted to say thank you for a great semester! I really appreciate everything you taught us and how supportive you were. Thanks for making the class such a good experience!
Honestly a great prof. He's really good at explaining patho so it actually makes sense instead of just being confusing. He's lowkey really nice once you talk to him and super helpful if you ask questions. Makes class way less stressful. Would take again.
I thought I understood bios before taking this class. I did really well in Centennial and patho last year, but Dr. Gorospe explains concepts in a way that actually makes them click. His teaching helped me understand the material and see how it connects. Challenging but absolutely worth it, for me he makes me a better student.
Not the best at explaining things. I suggest he reviews professionalism too
