Reynolds is really funny and a good caring teacher. He hates when you don't do your homework and when you miss class. He makes you pay for it. I dreaded this class at first because I am very introverted and quiet, but I had a lot of fun in this class even though speech days made me very nervous. Lots of extra credit opportunities.

I used to be scared of public speaking, but taking the class with Prof. Reynolds has helped me come out of my shell! He makes the class entertaining, but also fun at the same time. He is also always available during office hours if you ever have questions. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who has to take a speech class.

I was so afraid to take a speech class but I'm glad I took this professor. He is so sweet and made me feel a little less nervous to speak in front of everyone. Homework and attendance are super necessary, however. He will get upset if you are not trying. He really just wants everyone to do their best. It is a bit of a tough class.

He really helped our class out of our comfort zone. His class was so much fun and although he did assign some hard assignments, they were doable with the time given. I do recommend not to skip his class b/c something new is always taught in his class, he gives random extra credit. Always talking. He will make you make friends and have a good time.

Makes the class fun but bringing in jokes

Professor Reynolds have been one of the best teachers Ive ever had. Coming into a speech class was very scary but he always make it very fun to learn. He entertains the class with his funny jokes but along the way he will make sure your fear of public speaking is gone. In order to pass you do have to do ALL the work and always be there.

Good teacher and all hes caring but he is very explicit about what he wants and takes assignment at the beginning of class and if youre not there on time your assignments late and you get half credit automatically and if youre late all the time he will Change demeanor towards you. No cell phones either. Has a engaging class environment though.

He is super animated and thus, extra. He is very confident and I sometimes got the vibe of entitlement. I liked him, but I did challenge his thought process sometimes. Required zooms but he has multiple you may attend per week. Stopped using the book because of COVID-19. Offered extra credit. Fast at grading! He has a lot of energy so be prepared.

He gives you lots of help. Always responds quickly to email. Always sends us announcements for the speech tutors and will meet with you to Zoom outside class. Book is free too so that is amazing. Videos we watch are fun and gives quiz questions in advance so its easy if you put in effort. Im getting an A. He not rude. Just honest and sassy. Nice.

Professor Reynolds is the best. You have to go to class, and as long as you follow his extremely thorough instructions you will do great in his class. He gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit as well. This is a class you want to take!

Organized! Our class was Zoom but he said next semester hes teaching full online. He gives lots of extra cred & has you watch videos, tells you the quiz video qs in advance. So if you watch youll get an A. He has open book quizzes without time limits. If you follow directions you get A on Speeches. Emails back in minutes & zooms if you want it

Hi! He gives clear instructions to get A. He answers all my questions fast. He lets you talk about fun topics. He lets you use notecards, so no memorizing. We did 3 speeches. We got videos, paper samples. Also our class learned about communication in life, verbal, nonverbals. Easy quizzes, just watch his videos. Do canvas quizzes, easy points!

Mr. Franklin is very fast at replying! I am not the best speaker but I just got an A and he gives easy online quizzes and outlines not just speech grades. I did even well on the speeches though I don't like to speak in public. He gives lots of samples and even gives quiz questions before videos. Also, clear directions. Take his class.

I was worried about Speech online. But class was easy. You do lecture quiz by Wednesday, Reading Quizzes by Friday, and Homework by Saturday. The quiz questions for lectures are given to so you can listen for the answers. Speeches were easy because of clear directions and asks students to give positive feedback on your video- was nice to get.

I was anxious to take a public speaking class, but Prof Franklin turned it into my favorite class! He was witty & kept us intrigued during zoom classes. Yes he's blunt, but not in a rude way. He's always encouraging too. He was very accommodating like when I had a time conflict w/ zoom class time once so he allowed me to join his earlier zoom class

Having a speech class online is difficult enough, but Professor Reynolds made it an enjoyable experience. Gives great advice on how to improve in areas of speech that you might struggle in so that you know what needs to be worked on. These are skills that can even be applied outside of the classroom.

This Professor has been by far the most helpful Prof. I have had so far. He is accessible outside of class, and so patient! He really cares about everyone passing and will take the time to explain what areas need improvement. His feedback is always so thorough so you know exactly what to work on. Great energy, great vibe. Take his class, trust me.

Was nervous about SPCH but liked it a lot. Take his class. First, he replies fast to email. Second, quiz questions for lecture videos are above each video so easy points for watching and learning, Third, the class is very organized each week. Fourth, he will Zoom and help if you need it or want advice. Five, hes nice and sends reminders.

I was nervous to take a speech class, but glad I finally did. Professor Reynolds provides clear guidelines, expectations, and support. He is more than fair with grading, but you have to proactively do your work to get a good grade. Learned a lot and the class was fun. Great professor and class!

Prof Reynolds provided very clear instruction in different formats which made it easy to understand what was needed to succeed in his class. The entire class was very organized and put together well. He gave very precise feedback which enabled me to make adjustments and do even better as time went on. I would highly recommend him for SPCH 1A.

Prof. Franklin provided detailed written and video instructions that made the class easy to follow. He also included student videos which helped me prepare for my own speeches. He was very responsive and helpful. I can honestly say, this class boosted my confidence level greatly and gave me a skill I would unknowingly need 10 weeks into the class.

Professor Reynolds is an amazing professor. As the class is online, it's important the professor is organized. He has very clear schedule for the class and timelines for each task. He is also professional and passionate that he always gives detailed feedback to help students to improve. I learned a lot from the class on how to deliver a speech.

All I can say is that as long as you follow what he says you will get an A. Also, make sure to read his feedback because it can be useful for your upcoming speech. The only downside for me was that I couldn't choose my own topic and had to follow what he wants. Overall, his class was great and I felt like I improved on my speech

As long as you show up and act like you care this class is super easy to pass. Watch the videos and do the quizzes, his Canvas was super organized and easy to navigate. Overall, perfect class to take for my first semester and it didn't take much to pass.

I was not too fond of the class. It was stressful and the outlines were confusing. The professor is cool. You get extra credit for going to tutoring. Very organized.

Prof. Reynolds can be seen as a demanding professor, but he does it out of his heart. He wants all his students to succeed and improve in the following speech. His work can be time-consuming, so please make time to complete the work. Also, attend his tutoring hours so you can get extra credit points. But, overall he's class is fun to take.

Took his Group Comms course (highly recommend) this spring and Speech 1A during the summer. Reynolds is intelligent, caring, & funny, but firm. Class is well organized & easy to understand if you take decent notes and ask questions.

Helps you learn how to be less nervous speaking. You have to go to class and do homework but it is fun and you meet nice people like you who are not professional speakers. He helps students in and out of class. Very nice.

Reynolds is a caring teacher. He loves his job and enjoys helping us. I dropped Spch twice before. I was too scared. But he made me feel like I could do it. Many small speeches to help get experience. You watch short video lectures before class and take easy quizzes to prove you watched and learned from them. No book. Really nice and he cares.

ProfessorReynolds was an amazing professor and truly cares for his students. Work load isn't too much, like you have hw, short lecture videos with a quiz about them that was literally in order while watching the video. You will have many speeches that will be preform in-front of class. But don't worry he will help you out of your comfort zone.

I'd love professor, although at the beginning I hate so much homework have to do, but after midterm or final I felt I really learned something, it helps me quick gather things in the short time. I do thankful that I go through everything in this course, each class are important don't miss any classes.

It might seem like the professor has a lot of rules and a lot of homework involved with the class but in reality if you do your work and you let him help you out it might be the one of the easiest classes you could take at Mtsac.

Professor Reynolds was by far the best professor I have ever met. From day 1, he provided a clear structure and set expectations, sticking closely to the syllabus throughout the course. He was both caring and understanding when it came to accommodating absences. English is my second language, and I appreciated his cheerful teaching style.

This class was tough for some, but for the ones who found it tough, and got help, their sense of accomplishment when they finished, was overwhelmingly satisfying. I took Reynolds for speech 1A and it was amazing. Participation and attendance do matter but he makes class so interactive and fun that I really enjoyed going. He gives really great feedback and is always there to help! The SSSC was a really great resource for help outside of the class and extra credit opportunities. 10/10 recommend! :)

In terms of the professor, He is a good teacher. The reason for this is being because he was able to help me very well when it came to getting the homework done at hand. He also provided really good lectures in order for me and the rest of the classmates to stay on track when it comes to important assignments as well as important speeches. good job

Professor Reynolds was fantastic! great sense of humor which made class enjoyable, and his clear explanations helped me understand the material throughly. At the beginning of his course, I thought I wouldn't feel comfortable with public speaking. But, coming to his class changed that. He made learning both fun and effective.

If you are anxious about taking a public speech class, I suggest taking this one. I was anxious too but Reynolds is so kind and will reassure you if anything. It will be scary at first but I am telling you guys right nowww it does get easier :)! He gives great feedback and your public speaking skills will get better.

I really loved this class, and I hate giving speeches. He gives a lot of instruction on how to do things and has us do a lot of example work. He really makes a speaker out of you by the end of class. There is a lot of working with partners and small groups so it's easy to get over nerves. There's a lot of room to be creative so I really enjoyed it.

Extra credits are super helpful (with also help of Sssc). Also, if u cant make it to class on a speech day, u can go to another class and give ur speech (very flexible).

I feel more confident when delivering speeches as a learning result. Mandatory attendance for 7:30am classes. Grade-wise, If you follow the instructions, complete the homework on time, and attend extra credit sessions as needed, you should be fine. Overall, I recommend taking this class with Professor Reynolds.

Probably the most organized teacher I have taken at mt.sac. He's always very clear on how he grades and what to expect and has constant updates in canvas. Also plenty of chances for extra credit throughout the semester. Gives immediate feedback on outlines and speeches so you can improve for the next assignment.

Showing up to every class is necessary. Outlines are very clear and so is the grading. You have so many opportunities to raise your grade with extra credit so take advantage of them. Professor Reynolds makes class entertaining and shows you how your speech skills are transferrable outside of class.

Sincerely, he is very fun. His humor might have come off as a bit crass, but you can tell he cares and just wants to have some fun while teaching. He sees us as adults and, therefore, will treat you as one, so he expects respect and responsibility, as he should. There is a lot of work and research, but he will help if you ask.

Professor Reynolds masters speech, he can write a book on this subject, hand down! He explained to our classmate's, how many times have you taken math and how many times have you taken history? He gives very clear instructions and gives you outlines for you to fill out. There's not much to it, just fill out the outlines and practice giving the speech, if you do this you'll pass.

I took his class winter of 2025 and he really cares for the student to improve their presenting skills. He's very funny when teaching students. Showing up matters and the main things is the two big speeches which he prepares you well. Basically as long as you try and show up you're going to do well in this class even if you aren't a great speaker.

I took this course during the 6 week winter session. The class is not only fun but you will walk out of here feeling more comfortable and confident with speaking in front of an audience. He created videos to watch, follow along, and take down notes which is important because you will be quizzed on it and/or do a class/partner discussion in class.

Mr. Reynolds was like no other, he makes sure to communicate with his students makes everything easy to understand and his hilarious. As someone who deals with an immense amount of anxiety I'm so glad I took this class. I can now say I have the confidence to use my voice in front of people. Great professor! If you're nervous about taking a speech class I definitely recommend taking him. He's understanding and really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Reynolds is engaging, gives super helpful feedback and made the class environment comfortable. Everyone was really supportive of each other and that energy was definitely fostered by Reynolds. The work isn't too difficult and he gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, this class was a breeze even during the 6-week winter intersession.

I took Spch1A during the winter session and it was not disappointing. Professor Reynolds is a great teacher and is very clear in presenting material and quite funny. You get put in small groups often during the beginning to get comfortable while presenting to each other. You can sit where you want everyday but will always have a row partner.

He was an awesome teacher. I recommend him to anybody and everybody. He was very detailed on his assignment instructions. There is no way you don't know what to do on assignments. He inspired me to be in class everyday on time, I looked forward to his lectures. I wish I could take his class forever, we all had so much fun.

I was super intimidated going into this class but by the end of the semester I found myself very happy that I took this class with Professor Reynolds. INCREDIBLE PROFESSOR! I was always the nervous type and speech intimidated me greatly but professor Reynolds really does make it so fun and helps you get through it. Great sense of humor, always willing to help where he can, any negative reviews more then likely didn't do his work and failed.. Great sense of humor as well, would take again!!

Lectures and engaging and funny, even at 7:30 in the morning. Professor is easy on grading, with tons of opportunities for extra credit. Instead of textbooks, professor provides his own printed pack to use throughout the semester. By far one of the most forgiving and understanding professor I have encountered through my time at Mt. SAC.

Would 100% recommend Prof. Reynolds, I will admit i bombed my first speech, but he is very clear on what you need to work on, so that's exactly what i did and after practicing it paid off in the end. I am the only Chinese in the class. This is my first time taking a credited course. These speech classes require a good vocabulary. There will be lots of group work and talking. The professor gives free textbook. Homework not too much. He gives extra credits, teaches many useful things and also replies to emails quickly. Very appreciated, Thanks!!!

Mr. Reynolds gives great advice and gives you plenty of time to be well prepared for a speech. His class has a great pace and the perfect amount of information/ work so you won't feel overwhelmed. SPCH1A Formatting was taught in-class & on Canvas, + short quizzes answered by videos. On speech drafts, we get the Professor's and classmates' feedback. Professor Reynolds is encouraging and provides helpful, relevant suggestions. Attendance is HIGHLY encouraged, and getting to know classmates makes speaking easier. Just needs some time & effort.

I will never forget the day I went into his office seeking help with my situation and for him to provide me with resources to help me out left such a big impact on me. Super Easy Class. Theres no reason for you to fail this class, professor LITERALLY does everything in his power to help you pass😭. Just show up, participate, and do the assignments. He's kinda funny too.

I liked being in Reynolds class, he provides many resources for his students to succeed, I truly believe he wants to make everybody a great speaker. however, I will say that his teaching style may not be for everybody. He can be quite harsh and blunt and often put students on the spot. I would not take this class if you have thin skin.

The best teacher. He was fun to be with and even I wasnt very good at speeches, he knew that I was trying very hard to pass the class. He also loves to tell good jokes. I recommend taking his class if you require some few credits.

My public speaking performance was abysmal before this class and now I feel confident in front of an audience. Show up every class, stay up with your coursework, practice speeches, you should get an A no problem.

Professor Reynolds speech course is perfect for anyone looking to improve their public speaking and communication skills. I personally have a occasional stutter and was scared that it would affect my grade. However, I've come to learn as long as you arrive on time, do the extra credit, and pay attention in class it'd be difficult not to get an A.

Fun and engaging. I definitely have more confidence in speaking. No textbook. No exams, just a few quizzes on Canvas to make sure you know how to work on your speech properly. Two main speeches are the focus of this class. Being on time matters! Participate and follow instructions, easy A.

Professor Reynolds is a very easy-going and amazing teacher!! He really wants all of his students to do their best and succeed and he does a great job at guiding in that. He offers multiple opportunities of EC to boost your grade and also is very big on interaction in the classroom, which is vital. He made the class fun but I also learned a lot!

Professor Reynolds was a pleasure to be a student for. He was always very supportive while still having a sense of humor. For the average student, he may be too much, but everything he does is for supporting us and making sure we comprehend what he's teaching. If you want become better at public speaking, I highly recommend this professor. I came into this class very shy, but as long as your willing to learn, you can pass this class easily and become more confident with your speaking. Pretty much just make sure you attend class and do the HW and you should be fine.

Professor Reynolds was great! If you keep track on your assignments and follow the rubric he grades you on its hard to get anything below a passing grade. Also he likes students who participate and if you do you'll find that the class will be easier. He does find things to nit pick but honestly its for your benefit. I would totally take him again!

A very fun professor! The workload is manageable and the feedback is very helpful. He encourages us to talk with the people around us and gives extra credit for doing speech DLAs.

The best professor for public speaking! He creates a positive & comfortable environment by encouraging everyone to meet & work with each other. He can be nit picky but it's genuinely just to help you do well on your assignments & speeches. He grades by cumulative points & provides plenty of extra credit opportunities. Very happy with this class!

Excellent professor. Students have ample opportunities to earn extra credit throughout the term. Unfamiliar communication methods become natural with practice, and class participation is highly beneficial. Attendance is heavily weighted, equipping all present students for success.

His class structure sets you up for the best possible grade. In the beginning of the semester it's slow but his energy and enthusiasm keeps the whole classroom alive. Also the work load is nothing at all it's fairly straight forward.

I took this class because I read the reviews and it seemed like he was a cool guy. The reviews were totally right and he was so awesome. You can tell that he's really passionate about what he is teaching. Also he's super high energy which I loved I would definitely recommend this class.

One of my favorite professors so far at my time at Mt. Sac! Was very funny, and was incredibly helpful to everyone and wished to see them succeed. Show up, be on time, and professor Reynolds will take care of the rest. Giving you everything needed to get a good grade and improve your public speaking. Even for those of us who have social anxiety.

I took this class as someone who was already pretty interested in speech but clearly lacked the skills to do it at first. Professor Reynolds is a very engaging professor who was very easy to work with! There was a lot of work at the beginning, but it's everything you need to succeed in the class.

I am an international student, but the professor still wanted to help me succeed and constantly encouraged me. I learned a lot in Professor Reynolds' class, and he taught me how to be a good public speaker.

I took this class, because of his rating on here, thinking it's be a back burner class (it wasn't) and I'm beyond thankful I did. If you're looking for a class that's an easy A, DON'T take this class, BUT if you are looking to become a better speaker and improve as an individual this is the class for you.
