He's a great professor, I learned alot from this course. I would take another course with him. He's also very understanding and wliing to help students really understand the material.
Very nice funny professor. Makes learning this subject a lot of fun. Hope to take classes with him again. Tests were extremely reasonable. Felt like the only teacher this semester who didn't think his course was the only one. Seems to be in touch with his inner "college kid". Highly recommended.
Very good teacher. Makes class fun, even though I had to deal with annoying people in a lecture hall. Kept my interest, and exams were fair, although some questions were oddly worded. Good overall.
He is a wicked nice guy. 3 exams...multiple choice...dont need to go to class unless you want to(helpful bc of lecture notes)...is very helpful if you have questions..and is funny and class is entertaining! Take him for social pysch if you can :)
The material is dry, as was his lectures. 4 hours, one 10 minute break, and keeps you until the last mintue. Not approachable or friendly, 3 exams were worded oddly, but did give lots of extra credit opportunity on exmas and on final grade if you missed less than 1 class.
His classes are sort of boring but he's really funny and so nice! His exams aren't too bad. 3 multiple choice tests, if you take good notes and study you'll have no problem!
i didnt mind him at all. he was very helpful in getting me a tutor. the material is dry but so are many classes but he gives u jokes, stays upbeat and gives tons of extra credit ...most of which are one question that the whole class answers
Lecture, lecture, lecture, but real life examples. Chances for extra credit, MC exams, no cumulative final. Take lecture notes!! Read the chapter summary before exam and you be good.
This guy is the best. He is extremely intelligent, he teaches well, he is one of the nicest people on campus, and he has the best and driest sense of humor ever. Take this man's class.
interesting lectures, and his classes were easy I had him for social psychology and personality, I got an A in both. I thought he was a nice guy too. I would reccomend taking classes with him.

Awsome teacher. Keeps it interesting, very approachable
Awsome guy, funny, keeps things interesting. First class I ever wanted to stay longer in.
Great sense of humor. Intelligent. Endearing. Great teaching style. Willing to help with grades. Definitely recommend his class for any Psych Majors.
The class was not to bad but it was dry material. He knew the materail pretty well but at times he was kinda confusing.
Lectures are very clear, tries to make class interesting with funny stories. Exams are difficult, based on lecture notes and book so it is a lot of material to cover. Extremely helpful and friendly, I would definetely take another one of his courses.
Boring. Boring. Oh my god boring. Unless you're a psychology geek/major dont take it with him. Oh my god.
Boring, he liked to talk about ducks! Some parts were cool but usually just spouted random notes, just needed to read a bit.
Go to class. If not, your screwed on the tests. Long and boring lectures. Don't take this class if you want an easy lecture class.
Good class if you can keep yourself focused. I didn't use the book at all, went to every lecutre, took notes, got a C. Overall a good experience
G100 is an auditorium, so if you don't like crowds or lecture-type courses beware. Also, I thought the material being taught was very hard to grasp, and did not care much for the professor who seemed very matter-of-fact.
Pay Attention, Exams Are Hard, You Dont Need To Buy The Book, Unless you Want It For Your Self, Never Opened it, Lectures are long and alot of notes to take, if you miss a class your behind alot
Wow! He was a riot. I took it at night, once a week, so keeping four hours of Personality interesting was a real feat. He doesn't really instigate classroom participation, so that can be seen as bad, but he was a machine. He had no time for interaction. Straightforward tests and lecture. Phenomenal class. I highly recommend it and him.
Doesn't give many breaks during the 4 hour class, and it can get boring because it is all lecture, but he follows the outline, gives many examples, and tries to keep students interested. You don't need to read the book if you take good notes and there are only 3 tests.
His voice gets annoying after awhile, and his examples are often very weird. Not difficult if you're willing to make a minimal effort.
Prof. made class understandable and interesting.
Excellent. He's a machine. Some people hate this, I don't. There isn't much time for class participation. He gets up, does his thing, and that's that. Luckily, his thing is quite entertaining.
Bid aud class. The teacher was amazing. The follows pretty clear outline. 3 test per semester. At the end of some classes he offers extra credit by a short quiz that wont hurt you grade. The extra credit goes towards your test grade. Plus he also gives extra chapters for bounus on the test. Doesnt go agaisnt you so even if u guess u make out. Easy
He was a very good teacher. He really knows that he's talking about and the class is so large that it's pretty much just a lecture. You only have about 3 exams and there is always extra credit on each exam. Very fair tests and you will do fine if you at least review your notes.
The bomb. This guy is the best for a 4 hour class hes prob the only one who could get you through it. The matrieal is ok but there are 3 test all semster and wicked easy. with 5 hours studying total before each test i managed a easy A. This teacher makes it easy to grasp and is the best one there at RIC. Serious but not ancient.
he is by far the best teacher @ RIC...by far. love his teaching style. if u go to class and take notes ur fine. people who say hes hard are retarded. sooo nice and funny
What a great professor. His lectures are very interesting, although there isn't much opportunity for participation. I didn't need to use the book at all and have an A going into the final. Class averages on exams were in the high C's but that's because some people could care less. Just take good notes and study them thoroughly before the exam. A
Great guy, good professor. He has a sense of humor, which he puts to good use to get his points across in lectures. His classes are easy to sit through (rarely if ever boring), and he generally has a set of three multiple choice tests. Show up, pay attention to the funny lectures, take a few notes, and you'll both pass the class and learn something
Awesome teacher and the funniest guy I've ever met
Best teacher I've had at RIC. Take him for social psych and for personality. You will laugh a lot and learn even more.
great teacher. used the book very little. he give extra credit for attendance...make sure you go to class
He's a really good professor. If you go to class and take good notes, you will do well on his exams. He gets very excited about the material and gives extra credit.
Class is very intersting, and fred knows his material. students are graded on 3 easy tests...if you skip class, just read the chapter or borrow someone's notes; you will do fine if you read the textbook OR attend class; overall, i would recomend this class.
Great teacher, easy to understand, gives his information in story form which makes it easy to remember. don't be afraid to ask any questions, he will be glad to answer them. Keeps your attention the whole time. Attendance is important to him and you even get an extra point on you overall grade if you show up for all classes but one.
He was funny and interesting. He tries his best to learn some names even though he has a class of over 100. He keeps the material interesting and tells you what will be on the test. TAKE THE BONUS QUIZES AND SKIM THE BONUS CHAPTERS. gives extra credit for questions like "what is your name?" and believe me it helps! He adds points to your tests!
Hes great. Exams are very easy if you take good notes and study them.
A GREAT TEACHER....ATTEND CLASS EVERYDAY AND TAKE GOOD NOTES AND YOU DONT NEED TO LOOK AT THE BOOK...ONLY USED THE BOOK FOR EXTRA CREDIT..THE EXAMS ARE COMPLETELY FROM HIS NOTES AND THE EXTRA CREDIT QUESTIONS ARE FROM CHAPTERS HE DOESNT COVER IN CLASS..KEEPS IT INTERESTING THROUGHOUT THE LONG THREE HOURS...DEF RECOMMEND HIM..GREAT CLASS AND TEACHER
He is a very good teacher. He can be boring, but he tries not to be...I think the mugs help add character. He is an easy A if you study and come to class all the time. I have had him for social psyc and personality psyc. I would recommend him to anyone who is a good student
Great professor. I had him for social psych and for personality. Covers a lot of material but is very engaging and interesting. You do need to study your notes, and attendence in my opinion is crucial if you want a good grade. No papers just multiple choice exams, there was a bonus essay if you wanted to boost grade.
I love this professor. I had him for social psych. very interesting and engaging. awesome personality which makes it less boring. very fair grading system, and very clear. with attendance to each class and a thorough review of the notes i aced every test.
This Proffesor is ok. Attendance is not that mandatory but if you wanna pass tests with grades over 80 then i recommend you go. Its definiately not a hard corse though. Just study the textbook and your notes and your garaunteed a good grade. He only gives 3 exams and the average of those 3 exams is your grade. so do well on the exams!
Professor Agatstein makes it very easy for you - tests are multiple choice, bonus chapters included in all tests, no "final exam", extra credit is given pretty much every class. Your grade is based off of 3 tests. Highly recommended.
Great teacher, quite funny. Social psychology is interesting.
3 multiple choice exams. ample extra credit after first exam. Attendance is not mandatory. Agatstein can hold your attention during class: pretty interesting and funny. The only bad part is that he starts class on the button and holds you until the very, very end.
This by far is my favorite professor!!!!! He is clear in his lecture, has everything so organized, uses a power point and all you have to do is take good notes, study from them and you are guaranteed to ace his exams which are SOOOO easy.
One of the best psych professors at RIC. His lectures are easy to understand and not too dry. Just take good notes and make sure to do the reading and the 3 exams (all multiple choice) will be a breeze.
Horrible lectures
i took his personality class and he is such a good teacher. As long as you attend class and take good notes you do not have to look at the book at all except for the extra credit. Easy A if you attend class and study. I HIGHLY recommend him. I wish he taught more classes that I needed.
Took this class in the summer and got an A. He offers extra credit assignments and I recommend doing it. He is a great teacher. Highly recommend
He was so helpful if you actually needed any help in his class. His exams were very hard, make sure you read the book and go over notes. There are only three exams so you have to get that down. He made the material easy to relate to. He also had a nice sense of humor towards everyone. Take this basic Psych class with him if possible.
Agatstein is an amazing teacher, He is a funny guy and he is passionate about what he does. I had him in the mass lecture class, you need to study your notes, and attend class to pass. But if you pay attention you will do fine.He also give extra credit sometimes just for being in class. By the way his salient mugs are awesome!
Took social psyc w/him. He is really into teaching & very animated & funny in lectures. You get a lot of extra credit for coming to class, & reading the book is the difference between A- & A+. I'll be taking personality w/him next semester & am looking forward to it. Exams are multiple choice w/many bonus Qs. He can be a little cranky one on one.
I took his class during the summer. He loves what he does. Gives a lot of extra credit. His course is based on three exams. Attendance it's not mandatory but if you attend class everyday he gives you extra credit. He is very understanding. Very good teacher definitely recommend him.
Great Proffessor ives extra credit all the time. attendance not mandatory and material is well understood and taught!he has a great sence of humor! i would recomend taking him for any psych class!
Notes are presented in a disorganized way and after having a documented absence for a length of time I asked if anything was on a makeup exam that isn't in the book and was told "I don't know" However, gives a lot of extra credit and is funny and very knowledgable!
Great Professor! He loves what he does which makes teaching and learning so much easier. Gives a lot of extra credit! Course based only on 3 lecture exams. Attendance not mandatory but recommended since he doesn't follow the book. DON'T BUY THE BOOK YOU WON't NEED IT!
Pretty easy, gives alot of extra credit. Keeps class interesting and is funny. You can tell he loves what he does. You do not need to buy the book, I just studied my notes and got an A. I wish he taught more classes I would take him for all of them
Prof. Agatstein is my all time favorite professor. I had him for social psych and personality and ended with an A+ both times. He is very funny during his lectures and will give a million examples until you understand. I definitely recommend him!!
Great professor. Great, clear notes. Very funny - keeps your attention.
FAVORITE TEACHER ...tests are straight foward and he gives tons of extra credit!! strongly reccomend him
I took a big lecture class. He uses PowerPoints for easy notes. You get a packet at the beginning of the semester telling you what notes to review and what chapters to read for the test. He gives extra credit "pop quizzes" which are open notebook and based on something we talked about that day. He also has bonus chapters to read for extra points.
Took Personality Psych and Social Psychology with him. Easily my favorite teacher at Rhode Island College. He takes boring material and makes it super interesting. Gives extra credit just for being there. Tests are everything he goes over in class, no surprises. Definitely take him if you have the chance!
Prof. Agatstein is an awesome professor. I took him for personality psych and even though it was an 8am class he kept it interesting and everyone stayed awake. His exams are multiple choice and very easy! Helps you out when needed. The best professor I've taken at RIC, wish he taught more classes.
Such a good professor! So interesting! Very funny, and amusing. Class had 3 multiple choice exams, give lots of extra credit. Exams are stright to the point if you pay attention to lectures. No papers necessary for grade. Takes attendance randomly but doesn't hold it against you. Never uses book, waste of money. Highly recommended! !
I had him in both social psych and personality this semester. He was fantastic! He goes over the material in detail and emphasizes it so when you see a question relating to it on the exam you can visualize the answer. He gives extra credit in both classes and really likes to see everyone do well. Overall, great guy! take his class!!
TAKE HIM. He's AWESOME!
If you show up for class and pay attention you will not only get a good grade but also learn. He's a great teacher.
Humorous and passionate about psychology, he knows his stuff. There to help if you need it, attendance not mandatory but definitely helps. Just read or take notes and you'll be good. Have taken him twice, would take again.
This Professor is super funny and interesting. His class is super easy and interesting as well. The class I had was small so it might be alittle boring in a huge lecture, but you wont regret taking him.
lectures a lot and can get lost is you're not really paying attention! exams are tough
This class was truly painful. You have to study weeks in advance to pass his test. He's a nice guy but his exams are not !!!! BEWARE
I had Agatstein for social psych. No homework, three exams. His lectures were very clear and he made the material easy to understand. I wish he taught more classes!
Dr. Agastein is by far my favorite professor at RIC. He does give hard exams but his lectures are wonderful. Make sure you go to class because he can be very funny.
One of my favorite teachers, I am taking one of his classes again next semester. There are three tests per semester and a ton of random, super easy, in-class extra credit.
I don't know why people complain about him. He's so straight forward. 3 exams and extra credit. Totally doable but you have to go go class or have friends who can give you notes because he doesn't post them. Don't even really need the book, just go, pay attention and study. Boom you got an A. He's all there if you need extra help. Can't complain.
The way he organizes the course can make it difficult to study, but once you learn how he teaches you can be successful.
Great Guy. Very Personable and Funny. Three Exams somewhat challenging. If you study though you will do fine.
Dr. Agatstein is by far one of my favorite professors at RIC! I had him for Personality, Social Psychology and Intro to Psych! He lectures and talks a lot, but makes the lecture very easy to relate to and slips jokes in so the class is entertained. His exam are exactly as the lecture follows, just need to study! EXCELLENT professor!
Don't get his way of presenting material, doesn't respond to emails. Regret took this class
Nice guy, have to come to every single class because tests are straight from lecture notes.
Fred is the worst professor that I have ever had in my college career. I bought the $200 text book just to be told we weren't going to use it EVER. His notes come out of nowhere, he makes no sense, and his tests have nothing to do with the notes that he gives. He killed my GPA because he grades off of 3 exams, that's it. Only 4 people did well.
Do not purchase the book for his class for it will never see the light of day. His lectures are clear and he uses many examples to explain theories/concepts. Extra credit assignments/quizzes are at random. He emphasizes hand written notes and to not cram for his exams. Three major exams that are non accumulative but contain a lot of info.
Funny guy. Lectures are great and he includes modern day references to make things more interesting. Exams are hard and don't reflect the lectures much at all. I only missed the first two classes and never felt like I ever caught up. He does not answer emails so your best bet is to speak with him directly if you have an important question.
He is a very nice guy and he can be funny at times. His lectures are very boring and it is very intimidating talking in his class. He tends to draw out stories and has a hard time moving on once he starts a story or examples. If he doesn't finish off what he is talking about in the previous class he will go on and it can get slightly confusing.
I like Fred! I think he is very fair. Rarely used the book. 3 or 4 exams (tough), a few extra credit papers (easy) and that's it, so do well on exams! Lots of bonus points on the exams too! Attendance isn't mandatory but exams come from his lectures/powerpoints so I wouldn't skip class. Can get boring but he's funny so it helps!
He is a funny guy, makes lots of jokes. Pay attention to the mugs he brings in. Don't really need the book, lots of lecture though.
Funny guy. Attendance isn't mandatory but he does pop quizzes which later adds to bonus points for the exams. The textbook was a big help for me but everythings pretty much in the notes and stuff he says in class.
Long lectures get boring but paying attention and taking good notes should be enough. He seems passionate about the topics and can be funny. Only 3 exams which you should study a lot for! He does offer extra credit that counts towards exam grades which is helpful. Recommend.
This professor has long and boring lectures. He does not post the lectures online so you must attend every class! Exams aren't too hard as long as you study for a few days. He gives a lot of extra credit which is what allowed me to somehow pass with a B+. He's a nice guy, but he could do a few things differently.
Killed my GPA because he grades off of 3 exams. I'm always lost in class because his teaching style is just boring and long. I don't learn by lectures I learn by being involved in the class and given work where i can learn things. all he does is lecture and you take notes and when you go back to study you don't even remember what he taught!
He's a nice guy, but his lectures are boring. All he does is lecture for a straight 2 hours every class. Doesn't give any homework, and your grade is based on just 3 exams. The only upside of this class is that he gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I'm someone who needs to be challenged in class and this class didn't do it for me.
Professor Agatstein's personality class was overall an interesting class. He's very passionate about the material he teaches, all of which is presented in his PowerPoints. Although attendance isn't mandatory material on the 3 exams come straight from his lectures. Give lots of extra credit which can boost your grade up a lot!
He knows his stuff and he's hilarious, the only problem is that he talks through out every class for 2 hours straight- no breaks and no in class assignments. If you don't learn well by just listening and taking notes I'd avoid his class but if you are a good note taker and save a lot of time to study then you'll do fine. Plus, he gives extra credit
This class is not for lazy people! The lectures are really heavy so make sure you show up to class. He has 3 non-accumulative exams that are really long however you will be fine as long as you study the material. It helps to get the textbook for the extra credit. He tries to involve the class & make jokes. Highly recommend him.
I took Agatstein Spring 2016 and forgot to rate him. I took Personality in a huge lecture hall. He is very charismatic and funny with his lectures, but for me personally, his exams were hard with his wording. I also never read the book which may be part of the reason why I didnt do well in his class. Has pop quizzes and extra credit too.
Fred is amazing! Very lecture heavy class and reading the assigned chapter is a must. Easy to pass if you do the reading, attend class and take notes. Would definitely take again.
I like Agatstein, I really do, his lectures are great and his criteria is clear. I just do not like the way his class is run. 3 exams and thats it, not to mention he does not use Blackboard. So if you miss a lecture you'll have to go back to the outline and try to figure out what to study. There are extra credit assignments and the exams are easy
Professir Agatstein is very passionate about psych. He lectures for the whole amount of time and sometimes can get boring but he tries to be funny and tries to talk to the students and get everyone involved. Not a bad bone in his body. Exams and a few extra credits. Study and youll pass
He's a great person, but the way the class functions could be improved. The lectures are very long, and there are only 3 exams, yes there's some extra credit, but if you do poorly one, you will not get a decent grade.
Great teacher- hilarious anecdotes. Lectures are heavy- take notes well and do not depend just on his power points. Offers a decent amount of extra credit to help if you do not do well on one of the exams. 3 exams only. Book was not needed but helped to read chapters he was discussing. Take him!
Professor Agatstein is a really funny guy and I enjoyed his class. He is very lecture-heavy, so you need to take a lot of notes and study them frequently. There are only 3 exams, all multiple choice only, and lots of extra credit opportunities. He was great!
I loved professor agastein! His class was always interesting and interactive. He does great lectures and connects material with real world examples.
I didn't like class and had to withdraw because he just lectures for two hours. As someone who is more of a hands-on learner and that likes interactive classes and professors, this class was not for me. I have great difficulty staying focused, and it's hard to show up for a class where he just talks for that long. The only pro is there is no hw.
