Very boring class and also VERY expensive. The homework is super easy online because it gives you the answers, but you have to pay to access it-very greedy. I hardly opened my book. You get two tries on quizes, take them out of class, super easy, but I couldn't tell you what I learned. Hard to study for final without having had to study for anythin
Fred was a funny guy, but he isnt very helpful. He does give you practice quizzez, but the tests are pretty hard.
Not helpful at all. His aides have set hours that are not useful for anyone with a job. The quizzes contain things that are not taught in class nor is it on the homework. Overall just not a good class.
I thought Fred was a great teacher. He kept the class interesting and converted me from tax to audit. He had great "real world" knowledge to share with the class that went well with the lectures.
Fred is a good professor and wants his students to succeed. He's a real busy guy though so you get most of your help from the aides...which aren't as cool as him.
Fred is great. Has a sense of humor, and is very understanding. His notes and handouts are thorough, as are his lectures. His tests are fair. He is one of the best, and I wouldn't hesitate to take another class from him.
Fred Christensen is a very clear professor. The class is outlined on the first day so you know what to expect. Most assignments are done online, but attendance is graded. Do the assignments and attend classes and this can be an easy A.
He is a great professor and wants his students to succeed. Attend class and do the homework and you will understand the class. Such a nice guy!
Fred's a good professor, you have to do the homework though.
You definitely have to be willing to put some time and effort into this class. However, that's just how Accoutning 205 is here. Fred's a nice guy who's willing to talk to you. He's not the greatest professor, but what can I say? He's knowledgeable and gets the job done. Take this class from him.
Uses course compass, I would save yourself the money and not go out and buy the book ($120 - $150) I would just buy the online access for $50 and use that, it has everything you need. I got through the class with a high B and i never even cracked the book twice. Hes helpful, gives you every opportunity he can to see you pass the class and learn
Couldn't have asked for more for my first accounting class. If you don't do well, it's your own fault. Fred gives you every chance to learn and works to make concepts clear. I hope I get to take a class from him again in the future.
he does not care about you succseeding
Almost all homework and all quizzes are online. What was taught in class did not prepare me for the quizzes. The final was an in-class final that was nothing like the online quizzes and homework. He makes it difficult by requiring you to get no less than a C- on the final to pass the class no matter what your grade on everything else is.
Everything is online. Quizzes have two attempts so if you look up the answers on the study guide and then retake it you'll ace it everytime. Buy the online software for $50 and you'll get the online version of the textbook too. Final is kinda tough..STUDY.
Everything is online except the final. You get two attempts at tests and homework has unlimited tries. He hands out powerpoint slides that cover almost everything you need to know. Attendance in mandatory and there are simple clicker questions.
Professor awesome. The amount of work you have to do is insane. Take this class with a light class load so you can dedicate all your time to it. A quiz will take about 80 minutes to complete, homework assignments can push two hours (usually two a week). Material is not hard to understand, learning where to put info on a worksheet is very difficult.
Great teacher! made me interested in the class very much. He doesn't give any tests except the final and everything else is online and you can use textbooks, freinds, etc. TAKE THIS CLASS
Not an easy class by any imagination. All homework and quizzes are online through MyAccountingLab. There are a few small group projects and an in class final. He puts a lot of emphasis on the final so that people will show up.
This is a very easy class. I only put the effort to attending class and doing my homework with my accounting teammate. You take all the quizzes online and practice quizzes are unlimited amount of times to get it right.
Easy easy class except you have to go to class. You can only miss class 3 times before it affects your grade much. I did all the homework with very little effort and have a 102% before the final. You can use class notes and textbook for all quizzes and homework.
Loved this class, was super easy and interesting. You definitely need to attend class every day to get all the participation points, but the assignments and quizzes are quite easy and you can use the book and your notes for them. Final was a huge chunk of points but wasn't too bad. Would definitely recommend him!
Hes fricking awesome
I don't have much patience with him. He wastes class time trying to figure out his computer. He's an ok teacher but I hate going to his class. I also hate using myacclab which does the same thing as blackboard but you have to pay for it.
This was my first accounting class and Fred did a great job of clarifying all of the topics. The graduate tutors were also very helpful. He really takes the time to make sure everyone is understanding the material. I enjoyed using my accounting lab and the extra help tools available on there.
Great teacher. Makes Accounting easy. Take him if you get the chance.
Really cool and nice guy and the class isn't too difficult, but there is a substantial amount of work you have to do. For a 200 level class it is probably a little bit more than it should be, but if you go to class and pay attention you will probably be fine. Sure, he's a little boring at times, but hey, it IS accounting.
Christensen is pretty easy for an accounting prof. Would recommend
Fred's lectures were next to useless. All of his assignments, quizzes, and tests are online on myaccounting lab. Except for his cumulative final which is in person and in class. If you don't pass the final you fail the class no matter what. I would not recommend this professor to anyone that actually wants to learn acct.
Fred's class was very informational. He is very informative and his lectures are in depth compared to the book. There is a lot of work, but if you study, you'll be fine. He is awesome!! I would definitely recommend! Pass his final or you fail his class but it isn't a difficult class to pass.
It was a relatively boring class, but it was not too hard. There are a couple challenging projects that the TA's are extremely helpful on. Christensen is a good choice for this class.
Hilarious old man and i would recommend him. He has a lot of great life experience and doesn't brag and shove his qualifications down your throat like other business teachers at BSU. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
The class is overall easy, all homework and quizes are online EXCEPT the final. The final is written in class and it is pretty hard. You have Excel projects that are time consuming-GO TO THE TUTORS and you will get a good grade on them.
This class was an absolute drag, but it is required for business majors. Taking it in the huge lecture hall was especially difficult because he moves on to new material so quickly, and no one wants to ask questions. Take the night class if you can. SO MANY ASSIGNMENTS. Didn't understand anything until I went to the GA lab.
You'll have a lot of homework that is best to do with a friend. Wasn't forced to learn anything until the final. Do all the hw in myacctlab going into the final and you'll have an A. Study hard for the final and you'll do fine. Lectures are useless. Even good students skip his class.
He's a great guy, I enjoy his personality, very "real". Does a great job of emailing communication to students. Tons of homework on MyAcctLab, but it's not too hard. The Excel projects are tough and time consuming. The final was ridiculously hard and the practice exam didn't help one bit. I had a good HW grade but I'm sure the final tanked my grade
Fred is one of the better professors for this course. Accounting 205 sucks, but he is probably the best guy to take it from.
Fred is an amazing professor, he explains everything clearly, make sure you understand the material, give huge extra credit! His exams are not hard at all, just make sure you understand the material and have a clear idea of what he likes so you can pass the class with an A. Because it's a three week class we didn't have a project!
Great Professor! Lectures were explained clearly with good examples - sometimes funny examples. Shared a lot of work experiences that are very helpful. Enjoyed his class.
Hardest class I have taken. LOTS of homework, very hard quizzes, and extremely time consuming work. Doesn't take the time to explain things in class.
Fred was the best introduction into accounting. I Loved his class and learned so much from him. I wish he taught ACCT 206 too.
His class was super easy, & I barely went to class. There are weekly assignments & quizzes on MAL, 3 projects, but no tests besides the final. The quizzes were the only difficult part, but once I figured out you can find similar problems on the MCL's Study Plan, they were easy. Fred's a great introduction professor, highly recommend.
He's super SUPER boring. It was hard for me to stay focused and pay attention most of the time. I would use the tutors as much as you can, just so you can review and understand the material. He also says his practice quizzes are exactly like the quizzes, but the quizzes are actually way longer and harder. Overall he's just an average professor.
Fred is a really nice guy and you can tell he enjoys being around students, he just has a really tough time teaching the information in a way that you can understand it. I'm an accounting major and I really struggled with this class because he didn't teach anything.
I honestly went to class maybe 5 times throughout the semester, and still received an A in the class. All homework and tests are on MyAccountingLab, and all the materials for the group projects were posted online. I did have prior knowledge in Accounting before taking this course, so going to class may be helpful for others.
Usually a couple assignments a week on MyAccountingLab, plus 3 big assignments that test how well you put course concepts into practice. There is no reason to come to class. He has lots of material online (including lecture PowerPoints). You could skip all the classes except the final exam and still pull an A as long as you understand the material.
He is a very nice guy and good teacher. Lectures can sometimes be boring but it's kind of a boring concept. Accounting was really hard for me and i got Ds, on the quizzes, but he does what he can to help students succeed. I ended up with a B. I also couldn't have done this class without going to the tutor lab for every project. Go to the tutor lab!
Very modern teacher, he is also very understanding of student life and assigned work as he thinks there will be time. I never feel bogged down!
Accounting is a hard class, but Professor Christensen makes it easier. The lectures are clear, he is helpful outside of class, and he's just a really nice guy. There is quite a bit of homework but if you are willing to put in some effort it's not hard to get an A. He doesn't take participation, but come anyway or you won't get a good grade.
He is very good at explaining difficult concepts.
Fred is a great professor, I thought I wouldn't like accounting but he made it interesting. You can get away with not going to class because all of the hw and quizzes are on myaccountinglab, the quizzes are harder then the practice but I still passed them easily. The projects are annoying and the final was hard nothing like the practice.
You really don't need to go to class. Material is very basic, assignments take about an hour a week.
There's a lot of group projects through out the year. If you do all the homework you should pass the class.
For being ancient, he's pretty dang good with technology. Kind of boring, but who ever said accounting was interesting? Lets you have 5x8 card with notes on both sides for every test. If you put in the work to learn, you'll do fine. Be careful not to forget homework, it can kill your grade if you do. Put a reminder on your phone or something...
Even though I did terrible in class, Fred is a very nice professor with a good sense of humor. Projects are a nightmare if you don't understand something. I recommend getting tutoring ASAP or kiss your grade goodbye in that class.
First, Accounting sucks, no one likes it. I don't know why we take it. Fred makes it mildly entertaining though, and the way the class is set up allows students to do well. Class schedule is predictable, with HW due midnight of each class. Accounting isn't fun, but Fred is the best option if need be.
His class isn't mandatory, except on test days. There are no pop-quizzes.
You will end up spending a lot of time in the GA's office. Group projects were a nuisance and not much time was given. Midterm and Final were weighted hard, and they were relatively difficult.
Fred is a cool guy, but his lectures are pretty boring, just push through them and take good notes. You can have a notecard on the tests so make sure they're thorough. If you do a good job on the Pearson assignments you don't have to worry too much about the tests.
This class is the easiest thing on Boise States campus. As long as you do all the homework (which you're guaranteed 100% on) and get like a 50 on the tests you're gonna get an A. Also I only went to the class the first day of school and test days. There's no attendance and you can learn everything from the homework. Fred is also a pretty chill guy.
Goes over the homework in class before its due. If you do well on the homework you should do just fine on the exams. Super nice guy.
Fred is my absolute favorite, he is the best professor I have had at BSU and I would take his class again in a heartbeat. His classes are not hard and he goes over the material well. I would highly recommend Fred to anyone that has to take accounting.
Good professor. Solid choice. Lots of my pearson homework but lets you do problems easy A. Double entry accounting project software sucks. Overall fine class just lot of homework but the way you learn accounting is practice so it works.
Attendance is not mandatory at all. Weekly homework but fairly easy. 2 exams and a final that you can use a notecard for and is taken on your own computer in class. If you're not an accounting major and just need to take the class, take him.
Fred really knows what he's talking about. There is no attendance so you don't have to show up but I definitely recommend it, he always gives people a chance to ask questions and he helps you understand the topics. Also if you go to class he basically does the homework for you.
Read before going to class, tough lecturer
Christensen is a good professor. He can be funny but the class is a long lecture that mostly just goes over the homework and key points which students work on while he talks. There are generally 2 assignments due a week and 3 exams throughout the semester. It's an easy A if you study a bit and show up. He does allow a HUGE notecard for tests!!
Awesome guy, but the tests are extremely difficult. Luckily he curves the test grade and a lot of points come from easy homework. Group projects are also very time consuming and difficult. Super boring lectures because of the material, not because of Fred.
His lectures aren't my style. I didn't understand his explanations and felt I was wasting my time. This classwork is entirely online. Homework takes up a majority of the grade. There is help on homework. Although he gives a notecard on tests, they are still hard. There are a few projects. It wasn't the worst, just expect to teach it all to yourself
I rarely went to class - besides for tests - because I didn't really learn much from him but he was a really sweet guy. Class is super hard but doesn't matter which teacher you have. Doesn't take attendance.
Fred is a nice man but not a great professor. He is one of those people who understand the topic's so well that it is almost confusing when he discusses it. Also, he grades HEAVILY on exams. Like I'm not kidding a 100% to 90% if you get a 50 on the test. Not to mention his exams are terrible and timed. I almost never had enough time to finish.
Fred is a nice guy, but an okay professor. I feel like he has explained this topic for so long that it's confusing for people who have never taken accounting. He was very kind and if you're struggling, go see him not the tutoring lab. The tutoring lab was NO help for me. ALSO DO YOU HOMEWORK!! It will save your grade from hard tests ad projects.
This class is straightforward and easy to get an A in. PearsonMyLab makes completing homework very easy, so as long as you do good in homework and the group projects, you'll have flexibility to do poorly on your exams. My highest test score (of three tests) was a 78% and I got a B+, so getting an A is easy if you aren't lazy. There's also ex credit
He can be a little dry at times but is very helpful, specific, and easy to talk to. I did not enjoy accounting but that was mostly because of the subject and not the teacher. He made the class bearable and always helped when I was struggling. 10/10 teacher very wholesome and kind.
A literal prophet, had an assignment I forgot to turn in and it dropped me two letter grades. Emailed him if I could still turn it in and he said yes. I went into class and thanked him and he said anytime and shook my hand! Super respectable, good with technology, good at explaining the material and is available after class and office hours.
Fred is a nice guy however he doesn't know how to successfully teach accounting. I don't think accounting is a very difficult topic to learn however Fred managed to make it a living hell and I genuinely don't think I learned a single thing the whole semester. He reads off slides the entire class and never explains core concepts.
Fred frequently did homework problems incorrectly during class, COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT FOR HIMSELF, would then give up and yet expect us to understand how to do it when even he cannot do it correctly, I often left class being confused due to his lack of understanding of his own course.
Fred is a great guy and is super respected. He explains things if you're confused and NEVER talks down to you! Financial accounting is hard no matter who you have. You definitely have to put in the work for your grade, but you should expect that anyways. All of these bad reviews make no sense to me. Even though the lectures are boring, show up!
Very impressed by his skill with technology at his age, although a couple classes will entail him struggling or methodically explaining how to use a program you already know how to use. Super caring individual!! Very well organized class with weekly homework assignments. Read textbook to succeed! Not for a grade, but to learn the concepts.
The actual class itself is pretty easy since the software used often gives you step-by-step instructions on the programs to help you if you're stuck. His lectures were concept-heavy which were pretty irrelevant to the homework assignments, so I often skipped class. The exams are pretty difficult even if you study, but he allows notecards.
Fred is quite easy to get ahold of but was rude in a few emails which I did not appreciate, but oh well. The class itself is fairly easy if you study all materials. Also, attending class is not mandatory but of course the material will be easier if you do attend class. Lectures are extremely boring
Lectures can be dry, but he puts in lots of effort to help you do well.
I really didn't like this class. Also, Fred was rude to me on a few occasions where I was struggling. He also really struggles with technology. I honestly didn't learn anything from him I got help from the textbook and friends in the class. If you are there to genuinely learn please try to get a different teacher. Also, exams are very stressful.
Fred is a kind professor and cares about his students. However, his lectures are extremely boring and I don't think I actually watched one the whole semester. I had to teach myself everything. The homework is on a website called Pearson and it provides help on how to solve problems. Actually learn the material if you want to succeed on th tests!
Very good at communicating. Homework on Pearson is easy, 3 tests which are very manageable if you study. He was very caring although not the best at Zoom (although tried his best) :)
I like Fred, he's a nice guy. I feel like he didn't really teach much, and I had to teach myself. The class wasn't too bad but I definitely would not take again. There were a few exams and some homework due every week. I'm not super good at math so it was more challenging for me.
Do not take Dr. Christensen if you want to learn basic accounting. If you want an easy A, then take his class. Him "teaching" consisted of him reading off confusing and dull powerpoint presentations. I am an accounting major, and I learned absolutely nothing in this class. I tried taking notes, but the pace of his lectures are too fast.
I believe that Fred is the best accounting professor out there! He is extremely honest and thoughtful. He cares about your feedback the most! He always asks the class about assignments and if WE want to do them. He has deleted multiple assignments that he thought we didn't need. NO BUSYWORK. I would heavily suggest this class!
Fred is the best accounting professor if you are looking to get through accounting with a good grade and a knowledge basis. He doesn't proctor exams and allows notes/outside materials. If you are super passionate about learning everything about accounting, maybe try a different prof.
Never taking Fred ever again. His midterm was absolutely nothing like the practice test and most of us failed. He even said he predicted these scores and that maybe college isnt for us. He doesn't teach us how to do anything and just throws the homework right at us. He has class activities that require passcodes to do that he only gives during clas
Professor Christensen is a great guy and clearly knows what he is talking about. He explains everything pretty well, his lectures can be kinda dull sometimes though. Attendance is required as there are in class activities. There is homework and quizzes due everyday, so just try not to get behind on them. Overall a good class.
Fred's class sucked. He's a nice guy, but nice professors don't get you through college. Mandatory attendance, with password protected activities just to make you sit through his lectures. You have to teach yourself with the $100 textbook. The amount of times he said "ID 10 T" on the first day made me want to drop the class all on its own.
Although you have about 4-5 homework assignments a week and that isn't including the password protected in-class activities just to make you sit through the lecture. I hated the class at the beginning but it wasn't bad once I got used to it. His lectures kinda suck though and he says "ID10T" and "in terms of that about 100 times per class. Good guy
The textbook along with his lectures make learning the material very manageable. One complaint is that he unlocks one assignment each week on Friday and makes it due Monday even though classes were Tuesday and Thursday. Stay on top of homework (not that much most weeks) and study for exams and you'll pass.
Professor Christensen clearly cares about what he is teaching and is a very kind professor. I enjoy sitting through his lectures, and feel it is easy to follow along if you are paying attention. He is a great guy and a great accounting teacher! I would recommend to anyone:)
So easy and Fred is super nice and easy to get ahold of. He will work with you. Easily the best accounting class. Never went to class and got the codes from others and passed with an A+. 10/10 recommend even though I didn't learn a single thing
Writes everything on a tiny whiteboard in the front of a giant lecture hall, so beware of that. He is a kind professor and it was a pretty easy class, but I learned nothing.
super easy class to pass if you pay attention. Homework can be a lot sometimes which can be super annoying but overall pretty easy class to pass.
There are in-class assignments that will really bring down your grade if you miss class a lot. If you attend class, it's an easy A. He also goes over homework in class so you don't have to do it later.
This class was very easy for an accounting class and I learned a lot. If you come to class, he'll give you the answers to the homework in class. However, all the homework and the textbook are online, so you don't need to come to get an A. Attendance is graded with in-class quizzes, but they're worth a really low point value so no worries.
Fred is a super caring professor and super funny in a grandpa kind of way. His class is a little hard but he walks you through all the problems every class so try not to skip. If you want a good grade you have to put some effort in. Study, actually work through the problems on McGraw, ask questions and you'll be fine.
