Not a difficult class itself, but it's difficult to stay awake in. Lecture is very dry and unorganized, but exams are pretty easy.
Boring boring boring. Could not stay interested in class, tests were somewhat difficult.
If detailed notes are taken and attend class everytime, one is bound to get at least a B . He is very approachable.

BORING....and he can be really mean
not mean...just stern, everything has to be done his way. But, the tests are eazy dispite the fall-asleep lectures. Just know the terms and you'll get an A(if you can stay awake!).

He wore two watches, one for each wrist, and explained for an hour the first class why answering machines are amazing. Very boring, very weird man. I was excited for theories of personality, but he kinda ruined it, i didnt learn much at all w/o book.
When I first read the comments about him I thought that the students were just lazy, but it's true, he is the most boring person ,NOTHING is fun in his class.If you can stay awake in his class and take notes you will do fine. Easy class boring teacher.
He is weird, rather muddled, but in general easy as long as you study. He reminded me of a burn-out from the '60s. And the bit about no bathroom breaks is hilarious. What if your ear is bleeding? Too bad.

He's the craziest teacher ever! I had to take a motorcycle course with him, it was easy, but I wouldn't reccomend him for a real class.
He is extremely strict and his exam questions can get confusing. I hope you have a large bladder cuz if you have to go to the bathroom during class, you're going to get more rage than you bargained for. Trust me!!

ok i dont know about the rest of the comments but he is an amazing motorcycles teacher. the class is so fun and easy and it is structured very laid back. no tests or quizzes just motorcycle talk. awesome.

Kinda crazy but really interesting. Weird class discussions with TMI sharing. Take lots of notes they pay off. Easy class, if he likes you, you'll love it otherwise watch out. Take him only once though b/c he'll repeat the exact same things
A very good professor. Dr. Heilizer is intelligent, patient, clear and extremely knowledgable in his field of study. I would highly recommend him to other students

Awful, by far the most boring professor I've had in all four years. Treats you like you're in high school, no eating, drinking or going to the bathroom, seriously if you have a drink he'll make you leave, he did it about 5 times this quarter. DONT TAKE HIM
Fred is really nice at times. Other times not so nice. If you have a bladder problem, don't take his class. Material is easy. If you take excellent notes, don't buy the book. There are only 3 tests and no papers!!! However, lectures are very boring. Overall, it's an easy class!

Definitely boring, but if you're good at staying awake in class, taking notes, and studying you're bound to get good grade. Important to attend classes since material covered in lectures are sometimes on the tests (not in the book). Cares about students, although not obvious & drinks in front of u.

He is an okay professor to take for psy. he isn't that bad if you have to leave the room. Only if you are disruptive leaving then he will call it to your attention. Overall, he is okay.
By far the worst Professor I have ever had. If you have to take his class, do not take it at night. You will most likely fall asleep and then he will make you wish you were never born. Two people actually came close to tears because of him. Stay away from this class if possible. He should be fired!
Consider ANY other professor. SERIOUSLY, god. I don't usually have a problem with professors, but anyone who trails off like he does, and ends with "and stuff like that" when he can't remember what he was just talking about should give up teaching. Freaking mumbles and treats you like a two year old. Awful, not even worth the easy grade!
Maybe it wouldn't have been so difficult to get through this class if I didn't take it as a 3 hour night course. Fred is kind of scary at first, but as time goes on, he tends to be an ok guy. Grading is extremely fair from my experiences, due to the curve he gives on the exams. The class can be funny at time, and extremely boring at most.
I thought the class was interesting because it was about motorcycles and otherwise I would have not learned about them. I loved the field trips, the in class movies, The Wild One and Evil Kanevil, and the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainance. It was straightforward and a good class to fulfill the requirement with. I find him charming.
I think,he is a good professor. I enjoy having him as a teacher. He is knowledgeable, and I leraned a lot in his class.True, sometimes the class is boring, but he is not mean or evil as other have said. Naturally, he just do not like you eating or disturbing the class!!! He grades "very fairly"
He has deep-seated issues and he will take them out on you. He wears five watches. He will not tollerate cell phones being turned off or pens being dropped. If you like the discomfort of listening to the dilusional ranting of a mental patient mixed with the structure of a kindergarten class with the stress of a mine field than take his class.
If what everyone else says is true, then i suggest that you take Fred's classes during the summer sessions. He was laid back and his lectures were full of video clips. Despite the long class, it was not hard to stay awake. There were two multiple-choice tests, no homework and a GREAT curve. It's virtually impossible to get less than a C.
ABSOLUTELY AVOID His Class!!! Makes People want to cry. He's a horrible old man..the first day of class he told me i was goin to fail because he could tell how uninterested i was in what he was saying.
These people are all so mean! Fred is the sweetest thing. It's like being taught by your grandpa. He's extremely knowledgeable about psychology and I've taken multiple classes with him because he's interesting, funny, easy, and fair. If you go to class and do what's asked, you should receive an A..... just like every other class.
Let's clarify something: If you are consistently late to class, disruptive, or generally act like a deadbeat then OF COURSE he isn't going to be nice to you! All the people that he was rude to were either punks or airheads. If you show up to class on time and pay attention he's a pretty cool guy. He also curves very generously
he is an asowme teacher..show up on time in class everyday...talk little and write 3 paper (now i admit 6-12 pages is very long but EASY)it's very easy to get an A in his class i don't know y student don't appriciate easy classes
did not ejnoy. Since he uses the same tests from when he first began teaching, he doesn't always remember what to cover during class and leaves you sol during the test. Also, he demands respect but does not respect his students. i got yelled at for being late when I wasn't - he just couldn't hear me because he is ancient.
If you are looking for an extremely easy class take this one. 50% of the grade is attendence and participation and 50% is reflection papers. Take this for a good boost to your GPA.

Come to class, take good notes and read over them and you should be set for the exam. Only two multiple choice exams (in the summer, and 3 during the year) and no papers or other homework. The exams have VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD questions. Don't be disrespectful and don't take this class if you don't like sitting through long lectures....
he's really quirky and the class is so easy, but any psych professor who opens a discussion on eating disorders by saying that anorexia and bulimia are "diets" should no longer be teaching.

Heilizer is a very unhelpful teacher. I missed a test, emailed him & provided documentation from my Dr as proof of sickness; he looked up my medicine in an encyclopedia & then proceeded to tell me that since no where did it say that my med can have effects I said it had on me, hindering me from attending class, he would not let me make up the test

This man is absolutely the worst professor I've encountered at DePaul. He hardly touches the material on the exams, lectures the entire class, and is completely unhelpful. His grading is completely subjective and he refused to answer questions when people had them. I don't care if some people think he's a "sweet old man" he sould NOT be teaching
It's not just the fact that he is mean; it's more than he is just downright disrespectful towards people. He made many derrogatory remarks about women throughout the course which I found QUITE offensive. He's a burnt out hippie who should have been fired YEARS ago. DO NOT TAKE.
Fred's 302 syllabus is incomprehensible. After seeking help after class I left his office telling him "I still do not understand what you want me to do." Fred Responded with "Okay" I worked hard to understand what was required of me but was given no help from my repeated after class meetings. Really is a terrible teacher, the worst I have had.
While he is not the best teacher, his logs were super easy. People don't seem to understand that they are about themselves not the book! I had him for PSY 106. He lectures the whole time, and uses short videos sometimes. There were 3 tests that were multiple choice, which were not that difficult as long as you pay attention during the lectures and do the reading. Overall, the class was alright.
This professor is absolutely ridiculous. Not only is he non-responsive to emails sent to him, but he is very unhelpful. Instead of answering questions, He responds with "All I can do is repeat myself." His exams are not based on book or lecture, but whatever he chooses to put on them. His exams lack interrater reliability and construct validity.
HATED this class. hes mean, he doesnt explain things, hes rude, and he thinks hes right about evrything. lectures= long & boring (dont take as a night class) his exams are based solely on his lectures, not on the rdg. SO if you get bored during his lecture *you will* you can kiss your exam grade goodbye. do not take his class, find another prof.

Worst professor ever. His lectures are beyond boring...I would never come to class except he takes attendance. His exams are ridiculous and have nothing to do with what was learned in class. On the first exam...our class average was a 67%....I think that says it all.
This is the first time I've felt the need to write about a professor. Please avoid this ancient man if you can. He grades really harshly for what would appear to be easy assignments. He won't even explain his reasoning. Lectures will put you to sleep---avoid this professor if you want to keep your GPA up
His class was easy, 3 papers and attendance. Unfortunately, he is creepy, he talks about his own sex life (in detail) and he makes facts up. It seems like he talks about what he feels like, even if it is not necessarily true. It was just an awkward experience and he is really boring. As well, he uses really old information.

Fred honestly has no idea what is going on. I have NEVER given a rating on RMP but I want all of you to save your money. There is no reason to spend 800$ on Fred's class- take PSY 106 from one of the other dozen professors.

I took freds class theories of personality and i think it was a really easy class, his lecture can get a tad boring but he always tries to add stories and itneresting facts to them, or introduce videos to keep you awake. Prof Heilizer may not be the most fun teacher, but unless you are crazy into psychology then you will fall asleep. His class is 3 tests and 3 papers and for the papers, unless you write exactly what he asked, you cannot get anything higher than a C. Study well for his tests and you will have no problem
I was actually interested in the class before I took it, but by the middle of the quarter, I couldn't wait for it to be over. I don't feel like I learned anything and a lot of the test questions came neither from his lecture or the book. His grading scale is easy though, but be prepared to be bored.
I took this professor for theories of personality and while he may give hard tests and boring lectures, for anyone interested in grad school psychology,GRE prep will be THAT much easier. Just pay attention in class and be in constant communication and you will find this class not all that bad.

Honestly he is the worst prof. I've ever had. I looked at his ratings on here prior to taking the course, and figured that it couldn't possibly be THAT bad. But let me assure you, it's WORSE. The man gives you the same lecture on Freud 3 days in a row, &can spend the entire class explaining two concepts that should have taken 5 min. DO NOT TAKE.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. He's not willing to help you outside of class AT ALL and he judges you by the papers you write. Not a hard grader, but he seriously can't teach. Please don't take him if you want your tuition to go to a good place. He spends half of the class trying to figure out how to maximize windows on the computer.
asks questions on the exam that r phrased too ambiguously/ open for interpretation. so no matter how well u know the material, how much u study & if u never miss a class, ur tests r going to bring ur grade down - unless u live in his mind! AVOID.
A class that I was excited about & he completely ruined the experience. Hands down the WORST class I have ever taken. HE IS BEYOND BORING, the info that takes him an hour to explain took 10 minutes in intro! He rambles, and I sat in the 2nd row and could barely hear him. Easy class, just learned everything from the book, but not one thing from him.
I recommend taking him! I enjoyed his class a lot. He is hard to hear so just sit close to the front. He's a super easy grader and has interesting stories form his experiences
Everything about his poor hearing, boring lectures, and overall inattentiveness is true, but it makes the class easier to pass. The tests are based on what he says in the lectures, so you don't even need to buy the book. 3 easy essays and he gives you specific guidelines. Take him if you're looking for a low-maintenance class.

He is impossible to hear, doesn't care about his students at all, tests are very hard, makes it impossible to meet outside of class, gives zeros on papers that are fully completed and is just plain rude. Psych 106 would've been a great class with another professor. STAY AWAY.
Good professor. Ridiculous at times but definitely knows his stuff and has many experiences to share. If you are a dedicated student and actually make the effort to attend an $800 class you are paying for, you'll be fine. Talks on the quiet side so it's difficult to hear him. Papers were super easy. Exams difficult but curves them well.

I loved coming to his classes. He goes off on tangents but they are always super interesting. He's not one to make exceptions, but if you follow his rules and study the study guides, you do great.

If you like disorganized teaching styles and instead teaching yourself the material then this is the professor for you. Many comments here state that the tests in this class are easy and I hope their right. In an hr and a half we only covered 3 of Freud's psychosexual stages. For a level 300 class I expected so much more. Moves way too slow on material everyone should have covered in intro classes and 200 classes. Teaching materials are out of date.

His lectures are meandering, & his interest in teaching the course is the same as that of a student checking Facebook in class.
Literally forgot our final. He had to go down and make copies so we started our final 20mins late. When he finally brought them half of the class was missing a page of the test. His response? We'll figure it out. Avoid this professor if you can.
Contradicts the book and says he's right. Tests are based off book and lecture, even though we were told we didn't need the book. Doesn't know how to use technology, especially D2L. You may get a grade lower than what you earned because he won't try to fix it. Doesn't like to be wrong. Easy A if you study, semi-boring lectures. Good luck.
EXTREMELY easy A! It is almost impossible to get less than an A on every test, since he curves them all like 20 points extra. I got over 100 on every test. He is definitely a character, and tells funny stories. I liked him alot! He is horrible with technology though.
His knowledge is outdated. He was often late and contradicted what the book was saying which made it very hard to study for the test... I could not hear him and I sat in the first row. He would often mumble and lose track of his thoughts. NIce guy, but its time to retire.
I thought he wasn't that bad. Yes it is true that he is really bad with technology, and he does ramble on about other things, but i found them interesting. His papers were easy to do and the tests are more focused from the book than his lectures. He is a very nice man and I would take him again

One of the worst professors I've ever had. If he thinks you're not paying attention he will kick you out of class. His lectures are not interesting. He contradicts himself and the book. There were surprise questions on exams from material that had not been covered. He is right, you are wrong. Do not take him if you can help it.
Very chill. all you have to do is ace 3 exams and your golden. no papers. there are no penalties for missing class. I dont know what these people are talking about because he is one of the best/easiest professors ive ever had.
