Fred was an excellent professor, he was very thorough in explaining the assignments and helping with anything we were having problens with. Thanks Fred, you rock!
His tests are extremely stupid. Way too many all of the above or none of the above questions. He does not cover all of the information in class that appears on the test. Nor does any of the information appear in the textbook.
Fred is knowledgeable in the field of humanities. He gets off on rambling tangents, OK except some is testable. He skips around in the book so bad but yet everything in-between is testable. Quiz lover and will assign a “quick paragraph” writing assignments that are anything but quick or a paragraph.
Fred Ingold knows a lot about the subject. Take the course if you need a humanities class.
This is, bar none, the least organized or prepared prof that I have ever had. He rambles on tangent topics more than he instructs, his tests make no sense and cover topics not even mentioned in class, and his grading is, to say the least, questionable in objectivity.
What a horrible teacher! I know he is an English teacher, but why must my humanities papers be grammatically correct? So what if I missed a comma! This is humanities! Tests are very tricky and confusing. Many students argue with him about answers. Does that tell you something? Don't take this one.
Ingold is a great guy. His quizes are reasonable as they are all true and false. The only problem I had was the essay parts of the tests. Otherwise Ingold is a good prof and adds a lot of history to the class.
Well this class was very boring, i found it hard to walk through the door. He grades tough and his writing is very illegible. He skips around a lot and doesn't make the information clear. Often late to class for smoke breaks.
he doesn't grade the papers all the way through....
This guy is horrible. I do not agree with his teaching tactics and he is very unclear about assignments. He never graded fairly and basically he never specified what you did wrong in the papers; therefore you never knew how to overcome the problems you had in the last paper.
Very confusing! He likes to put trick questions on the tests. It is difficult to get an A. Hopefully you are a good writer, because papers are graded on grammar rather than content.
She pushes Black issues in this class. It is wrong for a teacher to push so much on issues in an english class. We are not here for that! No matter the issue! Her and professor leonhardy are office mates. Both push liberal issues in there classes. They are both out of bounds on how they run their classes. If you are a republican keep out!!!
This man does not know what he is talking about. He repeats himself constantly. And he grades kinda harshly.
I really hated him. He loves to give trick questions on the tests and he grades the essays extremely hard. He'll assign something and forget about it. He has no interaction between the students, I felt like there was a wall between us and him because he doesn't even care to interact with the students which i think makes a horrible teacher.
He is excited about the matieral and covers what will be on the test. He is pretty cool. The only qualm I have with him is that he REALLY tears the essays apart grammatically, which takes the emphasis off of the matieral.
For beginners, Prof. Ingold is not a very good teacher due to his absentees and grading system. We are college students and in specific classes to learn, not to be graded on what we have yet to. He needs to learn that nobody will write a perfect paper or score perfect on a test. He also neglects to email or call students back!!!!
It's a good class for the basics. Read your textbook and revise your papers. If you do that and study a bit, you'll do well.
Good teaching style. Taught to the test for the most part. Not a hard grader when it came to the project. But make sure to be clear on answers and watch your grammar in papers you write for him
I really hated his class. He wasn't very helpful with giving us feedback on issues through email or phone calls. He didn't take time to get to know our names and he was quite forgetful. He knows his stuff (but doesn't use it to the best of his ability). Compassion is a key which he doesn't own.
glad to know Im not the only one who hated his class. He was a terrible grader and unclear. I would not suggest taking anything that he teaches.
Thought he was a very interesting teacher. His material is fun. Couple things about him, is he is a VERY HARSH GRADER. That is because he is an ENG teacher. He doesn't explain his grading and his writing is hard to make out. He is HORRIBLE about returning calls and emails. If you can get past all that then I think you might enjoy this class.
Ingold is absent a lot, clearly has no interest in student success, and doesn't really seem very interested in the subject. Lectures are boring. Avoid this guy if you really want to learn and need a teacher who cares.
The teacher cancelled class 5 times before it was even midterm.
always absent, teaching style is very condesending. wouldnt recomend him by any means!
Not too great of a professor. Canceled class 6 or 7 times, and also took a week off for a personal issue. Pretty tough grader, but he isn't clear on how you should improve your writing skills. The lectures are pretty boring and aren't interactive. I'd recommend a different professor if possible. Fred is a nice guy, just not a great instructor.
Worst professor that I've ever had! He only shows up half the time, has hygene issues, and doesn't really teach anything! It's a surprise that he keeps his job.
Awful teacher, never explains his marks on papers. Also never e-mails you back. Repeats lectures over and over again, overall boring class and bad teacher.
loser!!! worst teacher ever. I could not understand his corrections. He cancelled class a lot, but emphasized to us that if we miss more than 4 classes, he would drop you from his roster. I think he has personal probelms. I don't how he still has a job. He repeats himself a lot. The textbook for his class was not in print anymore and he didn't why.
He was an extremely difficult. It was impossible to get an A on any assignment in the class. No one in my class received an A on anything in the class. He was gone often and very confusing. His handwriting was extremely difficult to read on the papers he handed back. I would not recommend taking him.
This teacher was absolutely incompetent. He didn't help me out at all and would completely disregard my views as a person. He repeated lessons and so when I skipped I never missed anything important. He also canceled class a lot. He talks about the environment.. a lot. This class sucked.
This teacher is a joke. I would not recomend him to anyone. its English 101 for god sake, not eglish for masters. he is not helpful and has the book teach you, and thats only when and if he shows up. class been canceled 5 times this semester!
I really didnt like him.
If you love China and their healthcare system, this is the class for you! Just be aware that Mr. Ingold does not own a computer of his own... Teaching was a joke, never clear on assignments, makes up due dates on the spot, stresses you to no end, thinks "A/B" is a grade (?!?!)... not recommended.
Do not take this guy. His lessons are pretty much the same thing everyday. He repeats himself so much going to class was a waste. I have always been good at writing papers. Never got above a C- on any papers in his class and he does not explain why. He never shows up to class and isn't very clear about anything. avoid
Do not take his class. He is very unclear and highly opinionated. His answer is always right and allows very little discussion. He went off topic a lot too. We spent half the semester working on ONE paper and he gave me an F. I am an A student. I didn't learn anything. He is disrespectful to other students and swears during lecture.
DO not take him!during the summer which is an 8 week class, he skipped 6 times, we are not allowed to miss 4 without being dropped. His grading is so hard, I didn't think I was that bad of a writer until I took this class. Its like you have to have everything absolutely perfect to even get a C. just ridiculous!
Very difficult grader. Whether your paper is good or bad expect a C. If you are looking to get higher than a C on your papers I wouldn't recommend taking his class. The highest grade that I have ever seen him give was a C+ (although there are rumors of a B-)
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I butthole, probably a sex offender. You could smell booze on him EVERY CLASS. Always cancelling class, probably because he was hungover. VERY harsh grader. He is just horrible. Probably pissed at the world because he sucks.
Harsh grader, agreed. BUT, Ingold is a very interesting prof with cool stories. I got A's on half my papers. It's a matter of following the mechanics of writing (quotations, grammar, etc), but also about being clear and supporting your claims. He doesn't like opinions, emotions or flashiness. Keep it clear, cut and to the point!
Awful class. Absolutely NO structure. He doesn't give you explanations for what is expected, and is unclear about notes. I also have no idea where I can check my grades and if you ask what your grade is... he just guesses! Awful awful class! STAY AWAY.
I strongly strongly dislike his teaching. He's an interesting man but NOTHING he talks about is relevant to the class. We took two months to write a 10 page research paper and then within the last week of the class he wants students to write two papers, with two days of class left. He's ridiculous. And he misses class ALL the time.
terrible is all I can really say. not organized, missed way too much class, terrible grader, his lectures were over things that had nothing to do with the class I was taking. although Fred is a very smart man, he should not be a teacher.
AVOID if possible. The worst professor I have ever had. His handwriting is horrible so you cannot read the comments on your papers. He is a tough grader but yet he doesn't really teach students anything. His lectures were usually pointless and he would repeat the same thing over and over. Going to class was pointless. I learned nothing.
Everyone has basically said what needs to be said. Very inconsistent and unclear professor.
AWFUL. Lectures about useless stuff and then doesn't remember, so he'll say the same thing 3 classes in a row. Cancels class constantly. Grades papers harshly and his writing is chicken scratch. Not very helpful. Avoid him if you can.
Ingold has a vast knowledge. He expects students to study. I learned a lot.
A great prof! He grades easy.
Ingold really knows his stuff. He is easy to chat with and offers helpful comments on papers. Take the class. It's worth it.
Take the class! He is a great teacher.
Take his class. You won't regret it. He is a very caring professor.
I recomend prof ingold
I took two classes with Inglod. I did well in both, and I learned a lot about developing my ideas. He has a great awareness of China, and it was fun to chat with him on that topic.
The class follows the syllabus. There are plenty of comments to help you with future papers. I enjoyed his scholarly awareness.
Ingold provided great comments on my papers. I always knew how I was doing in the class. I recommend taking the class.
I had a wonderful time with his humanities class, and I learned a lot too.
I felt like he never stayed on topic... always had to start talking about politics
Mr. Ingold is a wonderful teacher. He has a great lecture style, and his comments are really helpful. He was always on time. He had a really clear grading criteria.
I learned a lot of things that helped me in Ingold's class. He was on time and provided outstanding comments and lectures.
He is a knowledgeable teacher. I respect the comments and enjoyed the lectures.
Ingold really helped me see positive and negative aspects of my writing. He was kind and professional.
Professor Ingold really helped me with my Exit Examination anxiety. I felt scared to death and did not pass the first time. He help me not feel afraid to take the test again and I was able to calm down and pass the test. He was fair and consistent with his grading criteria.
I took Ingol's Humanities Class. He knows a lot about a lots of subjects. I want to be that kind of scholar someday.
Ingold cares about you and helps you grow as a writer and a thinker.
Thanks to Professor Ingold I am in English 102 and doing well!
Ingold is one of my all time favorite teachers. His calm approach to teaching composition, clear objectives, clear grading criteria, and vast knowledge help me grow as a reader and writer.
Mr. Ingold helped me understand what I needed to do to become a better writer. I enjoyed the class and highly recommend the teacher.
It was a quality class. You can take this class and learn a lot.
I took two of Ingold's classes. Both were great classes. I give him a high recommendation.
At last, a teacher who cares! Enjoyed the class
Ingold was never late. His office door was always open. His jokes are funny. He made his expectations clear. He graded fairly. It's a great class.
This prof is a good one
He is a nice man and a knowledgeable prof
This is a really interesting class. Prof. Ingold is nice and has good humor. He knows his stuff.
In the humanities class, I found Professor Ingold's lectures to informative. I feel like I wish I could know as much as he does IF I work hard and study hard.
I enjoyed the class. It was challenging. The teacher helped me when I needed assistance. My papers were returned in a timely way. I think he works hard to help us.
Dr. Fred Ingold remains one of my favorite teachers. He held me accountable for completing the work, and he was clear with his expectations. He offered careful responses to my drafts, too.
The assignments are well spaced, and we had time for revision. His lectures are interesting. I found him to be quite knowledgeable and supportive.
Mr. Ingold seemed to care about me and my writing. His assessment and evaluation seemed fair, and he helped me meet my objectives. All in all, I found the class to be splendid.
Great class!
Prof Ingold does a great job introducing writing. Personally, his lectures were informative and clearly presented.
He helped me pass the class by giving me good advice and talking to me about what I needed to revise. He has office hours, and he was always there.
Professor Ingold made the humanities an interesting subject. You can tell he knows a lot about the subject, and the lectures are interesting. I also had him for English 101, and he did a great job.
Highly recommend this class--that's my recommendation. It's a great class for getting the basics. I took the course three years ago, and I am still using what Professor Ingold taught me.
Ingold did a great job--made me feel like I could write.
Good prof and good class
He really helped me. Besides learning that I could talk with my professor, he helped me learn how to use the writing lab.
I think you should take his classes. My experience has been positive. I learned a lot from him about writing in English 101, and I also took his humanities class. Both were informative, and he was always nice to me.
The semester went well for me. I did well and enjoyed the reading. Writing has always been hard for me, but learning to revised helped.
I took his humanities class this semester and really enjoyed it.
This was a helpful class for me. His comments were thorough. It's obvious he read every word I wrote and thought about my papers. It's a good class.
For me, Mr. Ingold's class was helpful. I learned about development and organization. And I learned to look at other people's writing to find examples of what I can try to do. I also learned that I need to revise. He really helped me with his comments.
Professor Fred Ingold seems nice, and i think he is smart too. The English class was helpful for me. I found his lectures to be quite interesting and informed.
I took Professor Ingold's class more than a decade ago. I have never forgotten the class because I enjoyed what he taught and how he taught it. I finished graduate school in engendering three years ago, and I was so glad to have had him as a teacher all those years ago: what he teaches helped me then and later.
Good teacher. Good class.
Mr. Ingold really helped me with my reading and writing. I feel like I am ready to do more writing now.
Super teacher!
He drones on and on about the same topic for 2-3 weeks. Often cancels class. Grading didn't seem to be consistent.
I found professor Ingold's class helpful. The syllabus was clear and easy to follow. He helped me when I asked questions. He seemed really knowledgeable. Basically, it was a great class.
Seemed helpful, got the essays back in a timely way, seems to know his stuff--I recommend the class.
Hated both classes I had with him. He talks about the same topics for days, sometimes weeks before giving a 10 question true/false quiz. Grading is not consistent, but how would I know? I can't read anything he writes because his handwriting is terrible. He also laughs at random things that aren't in any way funny, which gets annoying pretty fast.
He's knowledgeable about what he lectures on, but his delivery needs work. He's monotonous and talks about the same chapter for 3-5 class periods at least before moving on. He seems somewhat disorganized and is slow to return emails. When he writes on the board, it's sloppy, but legible. On papers, it's incomprehensible. I wouldn't recommend him.
