Calculus could be a lot more painful than this. Fred is very patient about explaining things different ways until everybody gets it, or spending extra time with the one or two students who are still confused. He has a quirky sense of humor and is fun.

Fred is an excellent teacher. He was very patient with people during Applied Calculus, went over several topics, but made sure that everyone understood the topic before moving forward.

Fred is an oustanding teacher, and definitely the best math teacher I have ever had. He has a quirky sense of humor, usually rather applicable to the topic at hand, and has diverse methods of explaining topics so that everyone can learn the concepts.

He's very reasonable. You just have to let him know what you think is fair or what exactly you want. For example, on the last day of instruction, we expressed concern about the final and asked if it could be take home - he said yes! He is a brilliant mathemetician, but can be down to earth too.

Fred is a cool guy and a Great professor. He gives great lectures, that really help you grasp the concept at hand. He'll go out of his way to help you understand, if something isn't clear. He's also got a nutty sense of humor, which makes for a relaxed atmosphere in class. One of the Best professors at Shoreline.

he had a very unique sense of humor...he took of his shoes once in class. it's not easy, but he will help you with anything. also, the quizes are straight out of the book and are easy, but the tests are made much harder. he has very hight expectations. average on tests are 65%

Fred is one of a kind. The best part about him? his patience toward his student .. oh my god, I never found any teacher that could be more patient than he is. He realizes that not everyone in class is smart. He doesnt mind teaching you step by step even teaching you the really really basic parts. He is very easy too :)

my grade: 3.3 physics is not fred's usual class, he usually teaches math. But he teached us like he's been teaching the class for decades, very knowledgable patient caring informative. his office's open all morning whenever i need help. tests are challenging. you cannot affort to be lazy in his class. i could have gotten a 3.8 if I worked harder.

He's a great teacher, and will explain pretty much anything if you approach him with a genuine interest, but you might have to get his attetion first because he often seems like his mind is somewhere else.

Fred is without a doubt the best math teacher at Shoreline. I have never met anyone with as much passion for math as him. His lectures are interesting and informative and he is incredibly patient. You won't want to take a math class with any other teacher after taking a class with him :)

Justi when you thought you might have the material (on your own), he's 3 steps ahead! If you have taken trig before, it'd be much easier. He doesn't explain anything!

His explanations are unclear. He gives a lot of examples and problems, but never reviewed it in class, just expect students to understand. Hard on tests, loads of homeworks. Very strict in grading and he give really hard extra credits, literally hard, even the Math tutors can't do it!

I drive all the way from Lynnwood, Washington for Spring 2008, I'm at SCC for 8 years; I got a 1.2 GPA in Fred Kuczmarski's class. I pay more than $312 for books & $399 totaling about $711 one class, Math 124, for no reason. I took his class in Winter of the Year 2000 only to withdraw from his Precalculus class. Don't ever ever take his class.

Dr. Fred is awesome. He is extremely smart and will do what it takes to make sure you understand. The key to Fred's class is being as anti lazy as possible! You really have to work hard and ask a lot of questions if you do not understand. His quizzes are hard and his test and not much different. He gives extra credit. Good luck with those!

He is not very clear at all. He talks above your head and expects you to understand what he is talking about. The quizzes are similar to homework problems but the problems of the week are not easy.

Dont take him if at all possible. I took the class pass/fail and didnt take it seriously enough and almost failed. He gives really difficult problems of the week that are really unneccessarily hard versions of what we did in class. The worst part is he looks for ways to take off points on quizzes and assignments for trivial things.

There is a too large gap between his expectations and his teaching skills. If he wants students to understand math perfectly, he also needs to provide us with a higher quality of class but unfortunately he doesn't at all, which ends up with nothing but mere gratification of his ego. A worst teacher in my entire life.

Kuczmarski is very hard. Most people don't like him because he asks questions that require you to really understand what's going on to answer correctly, rather than just memorize how to do this and that. If you like math, you'll love Kuczmarski, but be prepared to work hard. He has a hard time simplifying material for lower classes though.

Fred is demanding and gifted. I really liked his class and his lectures. He does ask questions that are difficult to answer, and they're great questions that really challenge students to understand the material. He's also very, very willing to help a student if the student asks a question. If you want to learn the math you study, take his class

Definitely one of the best math professors at Shoreline. He is fair, and he is clear at explaning things. However, test are hard. Take his class if you want to learn things. Extra credits are extremely hard though.

He is a hard teacher. If you want to learn more, you better seat near the whiteboard since he speaks kinda quietly. But i bet that you will learn a lot. His quizzes are hard sometimes and you need to pay high attention to details in order to pass them. You gotta do HW on paper. Overall, he is a good teacher. Will take his class again.

his tests are ridiculous. I have done all the homework assignments and all in class assignments with accuracy. His tests are way harder than anything he teaches us, and expects no calculators. I have never had a math teacher so ridiculous...avoid this teacher at all costs. When I told him the test was ridiculous he lauged at me!!!

Fred's class was very challenging and engaging. For the people that said he is hard, they are right. But if you attend class as you should and do the homework assignments you'll be fine. He style of compounded and builds throughout the course. Because of this style I felt that we were always having the review which made final extremely easy.

No offense, to those who only take classes for good GPA easily, you shouldn't take Fred's class. I've studied Maths for 15 years, and Fred's my favorite. There's not enough space here to talk about him. Seriously, I think Fred deserves to be ranked top professor of SCC.

Just took my second class with Fred and now I can say that he is one of the best professors I have ever had. The best quality of him is his patience. He explains concepts well and provides lots of examples. He also tries to review challenging problems. His tests are quite hard, but if you study for them you will be all right. No inflated grades!

Homeworks and Tests are very challenging. But still he is a great teacher. If you are engineering or math major, he is recommended. But prepare to work hard and invest your time, or you will FAIL! I actually barely passed..

he assigns hw out of the textbook, but the material he tests on is nowhere close, so i dont understand why he assigns them. he writes a problem on the board and expects you know how to do it. when he does the problem, he does it without explaining like you should know what hes talking about. overall i would never take him for anything ever again

This math class was terrible. I was retaking this class because I didn't do well last time. Taking it from this teacher was a mistake. His tests are impossible and I was basically failing all quarter. He doesn't post grades and he wouldn't return any emails. I have no idea how I ended up passing this class. It was a miracle. Don't take this class !

Absolutely the worst teacher I've ever experienced. He goes through things on the board fast with explanation and expects you to follow. He assigned homework that he made up (impossible questions). The tests had questions he had never even talked about. Avg test score around 15%. Straight up laughed at someone in our class for asking a question.

This class is not for those who just want an easy A, but easy A's are not how you grow as a student. No matter who you are, you will be challenged in Fred's class. Many don't understand how extraordinarily smart he is. Fred Kuczmarski is the hidden gem of SCC; he doesn't get as much credit as he deserves, and I was honored to take his class.

Fred is a very demanding teacher. I am unfortunately rather bad at math and did not do well in this class at all. He is not a good teacher for me, but he is a wonderful person. If you excel in math then you should take his class. Hes funny and very kind.

On the first day he did not go over his syllabus or anything about what to expect from the class. He has such a quiet voice you can't hear him, and writes so small on the whiteboard you can't read it. He has an overall very poor connection with the students. I love math, but I am not happy in my current class with him teaching.

He's an awesome instructor. There was a lot to cover for this class, but he makes it easy to understand. The problem is he wants you to understand the concepts intuitively, not the formulas. If you want some solid math skills for engineering or hard science, I would recommend you to take his class. If not, I advise you to find other instructors.

Fred is not an easy teacher, and if you want a good grade, you'll definitely have to work for it. However, he is extremely organized and will make you learn all the material. Be sure to attend class every day -- he often has pop quizzes and does not appreciate late students. Also, he is very helpful and open during office hours.

He is very good at math, but not a good teacher. He set up a few questions and solve them,that's all he did in every class. He wants you to understand math 100% and that's how he grade on you. Tests and quizes are hard. take his class only if you are major in math. Dont expect good grades,you will need to retake this class if you want to transfer

very difficult, go to every class he has attendance points. you must pay attention and participate and NEVER BE LATE he will pick on u. once u get used to his humor he's ok. i did consistently well& better than everyone in the class, unfair grader and ended up with a 3.5 yet i got 90-100% on every test.

I found this class tough. He teaches things very visually, which was good for me because I don't usually visualize things well. He made us grade our own papers, which was annoying. I probably wouldn't take him again if I had another choice, but if not it wouldn't be the end of the world. Talks very quietly.

First, let me say this. Fred is not a bad guy, but he has earned a reputation as a teacher to avoid and this is well-earned. This man does not "teach" lessons, he posts problems on the board and asks you to evaluateeven if you have no knowledge on how to do so. He speaks very quietly, and getting help from him is impossible. Avoid at all costs!

I thought this class wasn't going to be that hard since it is "pre" calculus but no matter how hard I tried in this class, it seemed impossible to achieve a decent grade. I had to drop this class because my grade was that bad! how is he even qualified to teach if he expects his students to know all the math.

He is with out a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. Not to be to harsh, but seriously, how did this guy ever become a teacher. Did he slip through the cracks when he was in school and just ended up being a math teacher when he has no personality and doesn't help at all. He never has a lesson plan, he just makes up stuff as he goes.

Fred is not only an amazing math professor, but a great role model. He is absolutely inspirational and taking his classes helped me understand true concepts, not just equations and plugging in numbers. The class is definitely difficult, but Fred cares about effort and is willing to go above and beyond to help you when you need it. Amazing person.

He's a pretty cool and nice guy but he can't really teach. He's funny and smart I know, but the leap from the questions he gives us and the things he teaches in class is just too big. NEVER take him if you want a 4.0 (I've always been a 4.0 student at math before this guy, just take the other class or wait next quarter really. I got 3.2)

barely can't hear what he's saying! his voice is just too low. very few explanation, basically he's just give us some problems and we need to solve it by ourselves or with a classmate. also he's not always stick with the textbook which makes me confused to understand the materials.

Brilliant man. Funnylikeable man. Poor teacher. Tests are set up to fail, will use the only most complexatypical examples of the section as the test problems. This man's class alone is ruining my GPA. He may be an excellent professor for the higher maths but find another instructor for 99 or lower.

I love math so much. This teacher, though. This teacher. Every test we have had, nobody passed. SO many people dropped the class, I'm one of 6 people. The teacher is not good at teaching in general. He's the kind of person I'd love to know in a non math way. He is so difficult. Take if you want to devote your life to this class.

I took 99 after over a year of no math classes, so I needed a lot of review. Luckily I like math and Fred has a good understanding of all the concepts, so he could answer all of my in-depth questions. He gives a fair amount of homework and expects students to work hard until they get the "why" but if you plan to get a degree in math he is AWESOME!!

Teacher was able to recognize my lack of confidence in subject area and gave positive feedback boosting confidence. This confidence helped to gain a full two grade points from a failing grade 1.3 to a 3.3.

Fred is really insanely smart, and has moments where he is really funny. But his Precalc 2 class is the most difficult class I have ever taken. The first week and a half we just did worksheets over material I had no information on, he grades tests very harshly, and they are weighted pretty heavily. I also don't know what he expects all of the time.

Hardest class i have ever took in my life. Give tons of home works which are literally not related with the tests. You have to be super good to pass. Clear at lecturing and understandable but just too hard. Also no extra credit. Don't take his class unless you want to be super challenging.

Oh Fred. A teacher that laughs at you for getting an answer wrong is just unnecessary. Be prepared for 7 to 10 pages of homework a week and have something completely opposite on the test. The Advisers don't even know how bad of a teacher this man is. If you were smart, you wouldn't take this class or even this teacher. Good luck!!

For the entire quarter we used vectors to solve problems, mostly conceptual ones. I think there were about 30 problems of homework per week which was relevant to tests. He explains the course material very well and made it easy to understand. His test are not too hard and definitely not easy. I feel more confidence after his class. Great teacher!!!

Lot of people struggled. Never miss his class that he taught in his own way with hard questions discussed only in the class. 8 pages handwrite math homework every weeklol Really enjoy the class and he is the best math prof! Plus he answers questions individually and curve the grade up. The exams are similar as the sample exams and in class question

I usually do well in Math... until I met had Kuczmarski. He gives SO much homework. His classes don't have lectures but are mainly us going through the questions on the book. I felt like I wasn't taught anything. I had to spend over 20 hours a week studying for this class.. alone. Over half of the class dropped by the end of the quarter..

Worst math instructor I ever had, definitely will never take any class with him. Not a fair grader at all. Just three exams and grades based on those. Exam question are written for students to not be able to get a good grade. No clear syllabus and no clear percentage to grade conversion in syllabus. Lectures aren't clear and not helpful office hour

Professor Kuczmarski is a great teacher. He likes to explain the logic behind the topic, which helps us understand what exactly we are doing. Accomplishing the tasks of the class is great, but knowing the reason behind those tasks develops us into applied thinkers.

I absolutely loved Fred. He really helps you understand the material, not just memorize it. When some teachers explain topics, they just explain the progression of ideas, but Fred made the class think about why they should be taking the next step. This helps when approaching layer problems. I did do a lot of homework for his class.

During the COVID-19 shutdown, he didnt teach one single class online, not even give homework . Basically he just left his work without saying a word. He is not professional at all. What he taught in class and what he tests are totally different. The average scores for 2 tests of this quarter of my class are all 30%.

Worst Teacher in my life. He doesn't teach well at all and expects everyone to understand things. Gives homework through a textbook but the Homework problems don't correlate with the test. He also doesn't do test retakes.

We spend the whole class period going over maybe two math problems at most, and the whole time it's him staring at you, in hopes you'll figure it out for yourself. He's the kind of so brilliant that he can figure out anything and expects you to do the same. The average score of the tests were 8/30 and highest score was 16/30.

You'd be better off with any other math professor for an online course. He asks you to follow very intricate steps when completing assignments, and if not followed it'll cost you a large chunk of your grade. Also can take up to a week for him to respond to any emails. If you want to succeed in an ONLINE math class take another professor.

Seriously the worst of the online classes I've had to take during covid. Doesn't leave room for learning from mistakes. No quizzes, so only graded on homework, and despite doing every single homework I don't feel like I've gained an understanding at all. I feel like he just doesn't care and is throwing textbook questions at us.

Horrible math professor. This online class has been hell with trying to meet the professor's strict expectations. As a previous comment said, he leaves no room for mistakes and there are no tests/quizzes to redeem your grade. Additionally, he takes a few days to respond to each email making communication difficult. Take any other math professor.

Very simple lecture and no midterm test or final test. If you DO your homework, you will get your grade. I CAN'T understand all these people who are complaining about homework. This is a college class (not high/middle school) and you are adults (not children). If you wish to pay for this class and not attend/study it, that is your decision not Fred

Has not made the course very accessible to online students during the pandemic. Near-impossible to learn as there were no digital lectures, and the homework was behind a paywall.

Might as well buy a textbook and teach yourself calculus. He has an online hw and a written hw due every week, but due to complete lack of instruction I don't have any idea how to do my assignments. The only benefit was that there were no quizzes or tests.

I thought that he wouldn't be that good because of what his previous students had said, but it turns out to not be true at all! He is very willing to help IF you actually ask him. Although the weekly written home works are sometimes challenging, there aren't any mid or final exams.

Take this math class if you want to teach yourself math. I would have failed if it weren't for YouTube, and a study group. Who Restricts study halls? The professor is nice, but every week is a writing assignment pages longer than the Old testament. He also makes changes to the written assignments midweek while you are writing out pages.

Despite the rather low ratings, professor Kuczmarski is very willing to help, all you have to do is ask. I've noticed that many students don't join his office hours but that really is where he explains the concepts behind the homework. The written homework may be a little lengthy, but it helped me better understand the concepts introduced.

If you show effort and attend Fred's office hours the written homework won't be too challenging. Fred really tries to help students who join the office hours understand the problem being discussed in the homework. Sometimes he makes minor mistakes with the homework and tweaks the problem a bit but it has always been reasonable.

do not take this class, please. save yourselves. written homework was the worst thing I have ever done, hours of work spent for a bad grade, the questions make no sense, he expects you to know everything. WebAssign is not that bad, get 100% on them. No tests and quizzes but the written work are impossible. THE TEXTBOOK IS USELESS. make a discord.

Do NOT take Fred. You have been warned. Fred expects you to write a whole bible for every written assignment and you'll still end up getting a bad grade. Instructions make no sense. WebAssign is fine, it will carry your grade. No tests/quizzes/final but the written assignments will have you rethinking life. Make a discord and work with your class.

I'm not a math genius this class was fairly easy, he had zooms with the whole class for people who needed it available to join. he's a great instructor the only major downside is that his written homework is insanely hard, the material does not help prepare you, but it's not weighted too heavy so you can still get a good grade, big plus is NO TESTS

Having no tests was great, but the written hw took many hours to complete. Was quite the harsh grader. Webassign was worth 2/3 of the class, so it carries your grade for sure. The zoom videos were rarely useful, no other instruction besides that and the textbook. Turn the written hw into the early deadline so you can get feedback w/o getting graded

He's the most excellent Professor I've ever known! Kinda hard at the beginning since his math problems weren't the typical textbook problems; they force you to understand math logically. He put much effort into explaining and is very caring, so don't hesitate to reach out if you face difficulties!

This class is difficult and time-consuming, but as long as you study hard and create a group chat with your class, you'll be able to have a good grade. The upside to this is that he drops the two lowest assignments and one lowest WebAssign, and there are no exams/finals. I'm horrible at math, but I managed to finish with an equivalent to an A-

Fred himself is a decent being; however, he is incapable of leading you to success not only in his class but for your future math courses as he is unable to provide lectures (teach), grade timely, and assign reasonable homework. Majority of your grade will be based off your ability to write a weekly 5 paged paper instead of actual mathematics.

My grade has fallen so much in this class because he doesn't know how to teach. He literally stopped posting lectures, and the assignments are loaded. Don't take him unless you're ready to do a lot of assignments and self-teaching.

This class is hard, if you want a good grade you have to work for it. One part of the HW will anywhere from 5-10 hours if not more each week. He has 4 hours of office hours a week and if you want to do well you must attend. The way he asks questions if confusing even to tutors. However he will walk you through the HW problems in office hours.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Cengage was easy enough but the written homework. My gosh. Write a letter to a friend homework? I didn't expect to write essays for a CALCULUS course. The lectures have poor sound quality and the captions are inaccurate.

Literally one of the hardest professors I had to deal with. This is a Calculus class, not an English class. I had to write essays for a simple math assignment which would take me days to finish just to get a poor grade. I got graded more on my writing skills than my actual math. This class tanked my GPA. Never take him.

Do not take this class, lecture videos don't coincide with the homework, you will write. A LOT. 2 times a week. I love math but in his class, you're graded on your essay formats more than your calculations, take any other professor, seriously.

Professor Kuczmarski is one of the most intelligent, humble, and kind professors I've seen. He gives you 4/5 points for just attempting the homework, and usually walks through his problems in office hours. A lot of people complain about the assignments, but that's people think that because it's an online class, they can just be lazy.

Great prof. TRULY cares about students learning and makes sure you understand his problems. Willingly acknolodges if problems are too hard in his office hours, makes adjustments or walks you through them. It's obvious he cares about you, but only if you show effort. Don't take this class if you are a complainer. So many resources given.

Lectures are useless, assignments force you to spend multiple hours formatting and writing rather than doing math. Grading is totally inconsistent. Canvas is a mess. His "feedback" on work consists of vague incomplete sentences telling you to reference the lectures. By far the most frustrating class I have ever enrolled in.

He has a very different teaching style that involves no exams but lots of HW. Shows that he cares about his students and will make adjustments to the HW if its too hard. Don't take his online class, but VERY helpful when answering questions. If you want to succeed in this class, you absolutely will but you need to put in the time & effort.

DON'T take his online class Yet I took the offline, and it is not so bad as others rated him. He gives good lectures, willing to answer your question, and is easy to get along with. Though the homework consume a lot of time and sometimes annoying, if followed instructions, you'll get a good grade and frequently extra credits. And no exams.

There are two portions to his class, web assign, and written assignments. Written needs to explain the fundamental idea behind the calculations so if you knew how to calculate that wasn't enough. I went to every meeting with him and received no help, only criticism for not understanding and struggling. Got 100% on web assign though. Don't take it.

Absolutely horrible online experience. For every step of your working, you had to had to write an entire handwritten essay, scan it, and upload up to 10 pages of work. In his lectures he teaches topic A, then quizzes and hands you written homework that does not even relate to what the lectures discuss about. I can only judge his online experience.

Absolutely terrible. I had no choice but to take this prof. No structure to this course, you write essays explaining concepts that you yourself have yet to understand because HE DOESN'T TEACH YOU ANYTHING. Class is 3 points, HW 5 points, so your grade is hit hard with every point lost. The only saving grace was that his final exam was optional.

He's very passionate about his job. Yes, you should be ready to write essays every week, but he is always willing to help students. He even gives you extra credits when he thinks you deserve them. Very creative prof, and very informative. Think about why only those with bad grades rated him low.

Took him for calc 151.honestly don't do it save yourself,so much sleep was lost for this class, and if you absolutely have to because everything else is locked go to every single one of his office hours and DO ALL THE HOMEWORK. does one problem, then he walks around the room to see if people got it and if you say idk hewill move to the next person.

His voice was too soft, I can't hear what he said, and there's a lot of things you need to think it by yourself. You won't get or learn a lot of things from him. He will help you to answer the questions, but most of the time wasn't really helpful. You need to write a lot of things for every homework, which make you feel like you doing an essay.

Fred is the best math teacher I have ever had. Fred is kind, and very invested in helping those who want to learn. Anytime I have questions about a homework assignment, I show him after class, and he is always willing to sit down with me and help me work through the problems, step by step. If you're invested in learning, he will invest in you.

Fred is a great person, he's very particular in how he wants the work done. The assignments are very long and he expects a lot out of them. That being said, this professor was just not for me personally. I think his assignments were very frustrating and studying for the final has been very stressful. At times in class, he was very confusing.

He knows his stuff and is always willing to help students. He is very particular about how he wants homework assignments done, and I lost sleep over having to write 10+ pages explaining how I arrived at the answer. This method is hard work but very effective. This class can be challenging and tedious, but you'll do well if you put in the effort.

Expects an essay with every homework submission for calculus 3. Gives no feedback just says wrong and had no leniency when his own website wasn't formatting correctly and he linked the wrong assignments in the modules. In class he just sat there and has us work through the textbook and then did one example at the end.

This guy is very kind but this class is horrible. His voice is very soft, my class has quizzes EVERY CLASS, and the assignments are pages of proofs. He's got a weird obsession with circles. The assignments are tedious, incredibly long, subjective, and he grades REALLY harshly. Lost so much sleep over this class. Do not recommend.

I did not understand this class. He teaches like a mathematician and that's great but with my other classes, I could not give the class all the time it required. The prof has specific ways he wants u to present his work, many times, the quizzes and lectures did not make sense to me. However, I respect him a lot because he wants students to learn!
