Levine is easy-going. Draw pictures of the slides and take notes, and you will do well.
This class was a piece of cake and as long as you stay awake in class and take notes, you'll find it to be an easy A.
He is first the funniest professor I ve ever had...He knows how to interest his students, he s a great writer. His one of the best professor I ve ever had...
Awesome teacher, I didn't even like art before I took the class. He is one of my favorite teachers. Easy A, if you just go to class and take good notes. No studying outside of class! Take this class it will change your outlook on art, Promise!
great teacher, great personality. Just take good notes,no studying, use the notes on the test. 2 short essays(3 pages each), just follow what he asks you... easy A and a fun class
Funny and entertaining. Tests and essays are VERY vague and he doesn't write the test until the day before, so you don't know what's going to be on it. No studying b/c you use notes on tests, but draw pictures of the slides to keep them straight.
He is the best!!! This class is a theraphy and a free ticket to travel around the world. Levine is spontaneous, passionate, and funny. His stories are full of vivid and colorful images. If you don't like Art this is your teacher.
GREAT SENCE OF HUMOR, GREAT STORIES, GREAT TEACHER.ITS MOST OWESOME CLASS I HAD IN PALOMAR(ALSO POSC WITH NEWBROUGH). I SURPRISED THAT HIS RATINGS IS NOT 5.0, BECAUSE HE IS GOOD. TAKE NOTES AND YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH TESTS.I DO LOVE ARTS NOW....
He is a great speaker. Well worth my time and I am not an art major.
GREAT TEACHER, VERY FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING, WOULD TAKE MORE CLASSES WITH HIM EVEN IF I DON'T NEED THEM
He is a great and respectful teacher. He is very funny and helps students very well. He makes students pay attention to art works.
best teacher I have ever had. i don't like art but he makes the class fun with stories and jokes. i would recemend him to anyone. allowed to draw pictures and take notes on the art work and can use it on the test. very easy and fun class.
Funny guy-like old Jonny Carson. Notes and drawings allowed on finals altho he talks super fast. Final is NOT cumulative, 2 papers, 3-4 tests are it. He loves his stuff and loves teaching. Hint--NICKNAMES of artists are on ALL tests/finals
as long as you attend class, there should be no problem passing with an A
easy A. Just show up & take notes, his class is a cakewalk. I'm still not sure I'm really a believer in all art having meaning, but I completely look at the world differently, and I think all professors should have that sort of impact, otherwise they're useless.
OMG! This professor is awesome! Not only are the tests open note- go to class- but you never have reading and aren't required to buy the book. He also takes just about any excuse to miss class. take good notes: work for word answers on tests earn good grades!
This guy is a great teacher. Easy A, just take good notes, dont miss class often, and bring your notes for the tests. He grades the 2 essays very easy. This guy gave me a different look at art and the world around me. Cant recommend him enough. Very nice guy. Been to alot of the places he talksabout
very nice man, helpful and very understanding if you are ill and need to miss class. must take good notes. If you try, you can pass and do good. Open note tests, not cumulative, good speaker, does not grade hard on the papers, gives you all the time you need on tests, open minded and knowledgeable
This class is great! Professor is very passionate and makes U appreciate art on a new level. Notes and Pix are allowed and as long as U go 2 class U cant fail... 2 paper are req, and they are very easy...He is also very helpfull if you ask for it. Got a B
awsome teacher! very helpful and it was a fun class. -Aisling
Only likes to hear himself talk, so dont bother asking questions! I do admire his passion & perspectives. Do nOT expect all cake! Take good notes and dont plan on missing any classes Plan to get DEEP for an A on tests/ papers
His way of explaining a piece of artwork will make you fall in love with it. Take Art 100 with him, you'll never look at art the same
Shows you a side of art you can appreciate and makes you want to go see the actual works! lots of notes, dim lights so dont fall asleep. if you stay awake and really listen to him you will understand art much better and be able to impress ppl at a la jolla party with your art knowledge. (ez class)
He makes you look at art with a new appreciation. You will do well in the class if you show up and take good notes. It's not a cake walk, but you'll really enjoy it - he truly has a passion for art and he passes it on to his students!
Perhaps one of the best teachers I've ever had in my entire life. Mr. Levine goes above and beyond to help you gain a better appreciation for art. His lectures keep you interested. Take notes because you can use them on the test. Mr. Levine is what all Art students should aspire to be. He is kind, helpful, understanding, and most of all, his passio
Great teacher.. it took a few classes to get used to his style.. he's not very commanding or over bearing, but he takes you along to all the places he's been via slide shows. Very passionate and knowlegeable. Lets you use notes for the test, which makes the class easy if you show up. Very interesting, highly recommend.
I loved this man so much. He is amazingly friendly and the class is super easy but I totally gained a whole new appreciation for art history. take his class!
Great teacher. Loves art and will make you too. Take detailed notes, they help on the tests. Papers are simple. Just write really dramatic stuff and you'll get a good grade. I enjoyed coming to class.
this guy is awesome, class is super easy, show up take good notes and u will be fine, an awesome guy and teacher, i would recommend him
Levine was one of the most wonderful teachers I have ever had...soooo inspiring. You MUST take notes in this class though. Write everything he says word for word and you'll do fine on the tests. Can't miss much class because material will show up on test. I would recommend Levine to anyone though, art-lovers or not.
This Professor is awesome, he is just soo nice and his class is too easy, take good notes and the tests are piece of cake. I recommend you take him because they're easy As.
Great teacher!! Highly recommended!! Mr. Levine will make you see Art in a totally different way!! Very intertaining and fun!! Test are very easy as long as you take good notes and attend his classes!!
ATTEND CLASS! Nothing is from the book just your notes and you get to use those on the test so take good notes. Good teacher but expects more than he lets on, don't sleep through this class.
Great Teacher! As long as you attend class, you will be sure to do great on the midterm and final because all of information on the midterm and final is based on daily notes taken in class. Attend class and you'll do fine. No need to buy the textbook. Only buy the textbook if you are going to be a Art major or else you don't need it.
Awesome Class, he really gets you into the subject matter. All you have to do is come to class and take good notes. His tests are on the art work he explains, so just take notes and you can use them on the test. He's a great teacher you'll enjoy him as a person too, Definitly an enlightening class, i recommend it!
His jokes aren't funny but just endure them and lead him on...take notes and show up every day...you have to go to a museum in order to write the essay, but it's only two pages long..
Also Art 166. Awesome teacher! Makes interesting commentary on works of art, and is well-traveled and very knowledgeable. You must come to class, because everything is based on the lectures. Take good notes: open-note tests! One easy essay.
cool guy and teacher...but his class is hard! He's tricky and seems to not like to give out A's, no matter how hard you try! Be careful of his "this is not a strssful class" disclaimer. It is stressful. He wanted us to copy entire textbook glossary (which I did) to use on test, and it was still confusing and HARD! BE CAREFUL!!!!!
he's awesome! all his tests are his easy, but the terminology one is tricky because you have to look through the book for a lot of them, not just the glossary. i love his commentary on art!! each day was interesting!! such a reasonable professor too, take him!!!
He's a really cool teacher, but his grading is not easy. As long as you show up for class everyday, he will add a letter grade to your grade at the end. He does not give out homework which is good. Before I attended the class I was not interested in art at all but since his class I really enjoyed his lectures and which made time go by faster.
best teacher ever! i hated art now i love it, pulls stuff out of art and your like wow i totally see that now. you can use all notes on tests! best teacher ever!
Very easy class. Attend every class take notes and the tests are a breeze. I definitly learned a lot from him. don't be afraid to add comments to his lectures he's a very fun and intellectual person. sometimes being green helps make the class more enjoyable.
lol, ive never seen someone give such dramatic descritions of stuff that looks so simple. im not interested in art but i did like the class, its obnoxiosly boring to the point where its fun, i loved his corney jokes about the cyclops.. take notes, show up every class, turn off your phone, and dont sleep... i failed b/c i procrastinating EASY CLASS
I love Mr. Levine! He is the best teacher I?ve ever had, seriously! Super nice guy, very easy to talk to about anything. I had him on a study abroad program awhile back and he is one of the best things I remember about the whole experience!!!
Super cool guy, ten-minutes late to class every day. Class is really easy as long as you attend every lecture and take very detailed notes, you get to use them on all the tests. No homework, no textbook. Wouldn't take a morning lecture...I fell asleep half the time because the lights go off the second class starts.
I loved fred, he was great, funny, and passionate about his work. You could tell he loved art and he made you fall in love with it too. The first test and final are easy if you pay attention in class and take notes! The mid term is just matching definitions. He's definatly one of my favorite teachers at palomar!
Before i take his class, i hated Art. I took his class hoping he would change my mind and he did an awesome job. His class is fun and easy. Show up every day and you'll have one letter grade up. Tests are extremely easy with good notes. So write down every thing he put up on PP, ask him or do a little bit of research about smthg you're not clear.
make sure u know about the "The Merode Altarpiece (Altarpiece of Annunciation)" for the first month of the class.... great class!
This guy is like the real-life Indiana Jones. Ok, maybe that's a bit exaggerated, but Levine has plenty of stories of when he traveled the world to see fine art - and he brings his own experiences into what he teaches. If you have any interest in art at all, you should find this an interesting class to be a part of.
I TRULY DO NOT LIKE THIS GUY. After the first test, i thought i did well b/c i wrote down EVERYTHING he told us about the piece. i get the the test back and i got a D! the test is subjective but he grades otherwise. you have to give him exactly what he wants. i dont reccomend this class unless your an art major..
he is very laid back and passionate about what he teaches. he explains every little detail so that you understand completely. take his class, great professor.
His class should not be hard if you know how to ?study? smart and get information efficiently; theres no actual studying required. He is nice, passionate about art, and extremely descriptive. Haha his corny jokes would always make me smile :) Sign up for his class! Sign me up again!
Prof Levine is a great teacher. You just have to attend class regularly to get the notes. No textbook needed. You can use almost anything for the tests. I would definitely take another one of his classes.
definitely not my favorite teacher. the only reason i got a B is because he droppd my failing midterm grade in place of my writing assignment. he wants what he wants. no exceptions. he wants you to go above and way beyond when it comes to tests. since there are only 2 tests and one writing assignment the whole semester, study and research hard.
I loved this class! You can tell he is passionate about Art and he has a lot of cool stories. He is funny and class always seemed to go by pretty fast. It's a very easy class as long as you show up and take good notes, Especially because the tests are open note. I definitely learned a lot and wish there were more teachers like him.
Great Teacher. You have to pay attention in his lectures and take a lot of notes, but if you do, you will do well.
great teacher. passionate, very solid teaching strategy. attend class and take notes and you will pass the class. take this class
This guy loves what he's talking about but this is not for someone who can't sit there for an hour everyday and hear him non-stop talk. He's un-organized. The tests are dumb because he marks you off and puts no explanation as to why; I took extensive, lengthy notes and only got a C on both the tests. For art lovers and very attentive listeners.
Really sick teacher gets really into his lectures and I can dig that.
just show up take notes, do the research for the test and they are open note. He will push your grade up if you have NO unexcused absences. one paper, two test that's it. Not an easy class to stay awake with but its a doable class ended up with an A.
Levine is a great guy! When he's not teaching, he's telling corny jokes. This class is interesting and easy. Show up &TAKE NOTES! There's an essay (3pgs), a midterm&final (open note). No other homework. Just pay attention and you'll pass.
So I signed up for his class again aaaand it's even more great the 2nd time around. He's just this suave professor who is passionate about art history. His jokes are still corny, but hey that's what makes him so adorable.
I thought this would be interesting to take. I thought wrong. The dude sticks to around the same types of art. God this God that... Virgin virgin virgin... blah blah. oh and he has the most unorganized lectures I've ever seen. His so call "conversation" style is very hard to put down on paper. And even harder to understand later
This teacher spends all of the class talking, so it does get a little dull trying to listen. Repeats a lot of things, but he's a really nice guy! Things got more interesting when we began on the Greek Mythology.
great teacher! make sure to take notes while he talks if not your be screwd on the tests! all and all the class runs real smooth
Easiest. Class. Ever. If you still need to kill off your Arts section, take art 100 with him. No homework and only 2 tests. Tests are open note, open laptop, open phone, open EVERYTHING. Only bad thing is that the class is horrendously boring.
Fantastic teacher and class, extraordinary knowledge of art and world history. Fairly easy as well, only two tests and no homework/textbook.
No texting allowed, no big deal. All tests are open note but are graded to ridiculous standard. I got the high in the class on the midterm: 87%. Not very clear about expectations at all. At the time of this writing, his 4.3 in easiness is wrong. He takes an easy subject and makes it hard because he is not clear on grading criteria.
do not take this class. Its super boring. attendance is required and he talks about the same stuff over and over. The tests are open notes but grades them very hard. No computers are allowed at all. I regret taking this class with him.
A good professor.
He is an AMAZING teacher! Easy class, easy A. You don't need a text book, all his lectures are done through power point,as long as you attend every class session and take notes, you'll get an A. there is a midterm, a final, and a 10 pages paper due at the end of the semester (you have the whole semester to work on it), no other HW or assignments.
no studying required all based on notes, as long as you attend and pay attention good grade is pretty much guaranteed, I have no interest in art and did well.
The class is based off attendance and how well you listen and take notes. Easy A if you pay attention and go to the websites he provides. There is only a Midterm, a paper, and the final.
Dr. Levine is AMAZING! Attendance is mandatory. After 7 absences he gives you an "F" for the course, so make sure you show up! No homework or textbook are required. He only gives midterm, final, and one paper due towards the end of the semester. Make sure to take good notes on his lectures! All exams are open notesbook. Good luck!
This class is honestly the easiest class ever, only a midterm and a final and they are both open note, just show up to class cause if you get 7 absences then you'll get dropped, when you do show up to class take notes because you really need them for the midterm or final, easiest A in the world
Dr. Levine lectures on art appreciation and history. I loved the class and really enjoyed the material. He will not tolerate absences, or sleeping through class, no cell phones, so be prepared to take notes. It is worth it too because the mid term and final are both open notes, and it will be the easiest A you can earn in your lifetime!
Simply a very illuminating course and a master educator. Would take any course he's offering and I'd take this course again if I could.
Teaches you how to observe, to look closely and truly understand the works of art. 7 Absences equal a fail but the class is straight to the point. Take notes, bring notes to open book tests and pass.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Even if you don't like art you will appreciate the history and the people who made it great by the end of the class. Very lecture heavy and requires note taking. It is a very engaging class and it makes you hungry for more information. Something not a lot of professors can do.
Prof. Levine is great! He lectures all of class, but it's only 45 to 50 mins. He lets you use notes on the test. So use them. Just no phones. He's a bit strict on cell phone use. Two tests ,midterm and final and a report. He asks for 3 to 4 pages. It's a great class, I wish he taught higher levels, would definitely take him again!
Pretty easy class, make sure to take lots of notes while he's describing the paintings so that you have plenty to write for your own descriptions on the tests. Tests are open note so no reason to fail! Only 2 tests and 1 essay to write, for the essay a museum visit is required but on your own time. Enjoyed the class!
You can tell that he really cares about his students and does everything in his power to make sure that everyone gets an A. He is super knowledgeable and makes the lectures really interesting and fun. TAKE GOOD NOTES. He lets you use all your notes for the midterm and final! Dont miss class though. There's no textbook, all lectures.
His class was super easy, all you have to do is show up and take notes. As long as you just write down, word for word, everything he says you're guaranteed to get a good grade. Personally, I wasn't very impressed with the course or its material, but it was still a decent class.
Dr. Levine gives great lectures. He will make you show for class and do a museum trip, which was fun going with other students. This class is for nonart majors, but you will learn about some amazing pieces of art and be able to know a bit about them. The tests are open note so make sure you have great notes and you will do great.
Dr. Levine is awesome! Easy A if you show up and take good notes, visit the websites for the works of art. Exams are open note. For the museum paper project just follow instructions and you will do fine. 7 absences is an automatic "F". Drink some caffeine before you go to his class.
This is an easy A class. As long as you show up & write down what he says about the images he presents, youll pass the midterm & final. Theres 1 midterm, 1 final, & 1 essay. Tests are open note & you just describe the image he gives you, again, write down exactly what he said. Easy class, but extremely boring. I always almost fell asleep.
He's a good professor, but takes points away every time you miss class. He assigns you to visit a art museum and write about it. 2 exams, open note, so write down everything he says and don't miss class! he does not post lectures. Every class is pure lecture so really easy class overall.
