Doesn't curve mulitple choice tests but teaches well enough for average to be a B. Does allow extra credit of 3 percent by experimetrix or papers. it's worth going to class cause he posts an outline but not the slides themselves. the book helps clarify the subject matter but the chapter tests are almost identical to the midterms.

He is an excellent professor. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's recommended since he asks questions from lectures in exams. Lectures are engaging. He answers all your questions during class or gets back to you via email. The course involves a significant amount of reading; however, all tests, including the final, are MCQs.

Grades are only exams, two midterms and the final, reading quizzes, and SONA participation. He was very strict about curving but my class did so bad that he made a deal that if we do better on midterm 2 he'll curve the first one. I thought the midterm was very fair but I did do all the chapter readings and took notes on them too.

Professor Rose is amazing at lecturing; even without an attendance requirement, most people would still come to his lecture because he is a funny guy. He covered most of the content in he's lecture, but still suggested reading the textbook since there are small details. Weekly online quizzes with two attempts, easy grade, and great practice.

He is a very engaging and funny teacher. I would highly recommend taking his classes if you have a learning disability as he tends to cover the broad theme of the topics without getting too lost in the details. Just keep up with the readings because he does do exam questions on them!!

Love this man he's so pure. Definitely makes challenging exams with no study guides, BUT his lectures are fun and engaging and very passionate for his work. So sweet

Good lectures, kinda long. Exams are all multiple choice but he doesn't give practice questions/exams. Online chapter quizzes are open book and untimed. You have to read the chapter from the textbook even if he doesn't go over some things in lecture because he'll still test you on it, lectures aren't mandatory but stuff from them will be on exam.

Love this guy, I've been keeping an eye out for other classes taught by him that I can take in the future. He's really funny and charismatic, also generally just a friendly guy. He doesn't give study guides or practice, but so long as you keep up with the readings you will be more than okay. Lectures aren't mandatory but I still come for fun.

Professor Rose is a very stern teacher about curves and overall class attendance albeit not being required there are test questions on both midterms and finals about class discourse during lectures. He also doesn't curve period my class in particular had a deal to have a curved midterm if we reached a 75% average we had a 74.8% and he refused.

I'll start by saying I like Dr. Rose as a person. However, no study guides or clear answers on where to start when studying for exams. I did well in the class, but only because of the amount of studying I did for each test. I had the opportunity to take him for another class next quarter and I went out of my way not to.

I really liked Professor Rose as a person just not as a professor. Class is basically entirely exam based and he refuses to curve regardless of the class average. He's entertaining, but there is so much content to memorize and it hard to grasp what he's saying at times. He is very good about office hours though.

The people who say this professor is great, they're lying to you. If you really want to be knowledgeable for this class with no prior knowledge about psyc, you HAVE to read. not only does he test you on things he said in class, the readings take probably 4 hours+ per lecture if your taking notes. save yourself the trouble from taking this professor

I was excited to take this class because he had such a high rate my prof rating, but I'm a little disappointed :/. He is a super nice guy and his lectures are pretty engaging, but he doesn't record them and also doesn't provide any sort of study or practice tests for the final or either of the midterms. You really won't know what to study at all.

Dr. Rose is genuinely a great professor and passionate about psychology. Recent reviews categorize him for strict grading but exclude the fact that he curved a midterm for those who showed improvement. He doesn't provide a study guide, but our open-note quizzes and lectures are all based on the textbook-- it is clearly the most important resource.

He is GREAT love his lectures you can tell he loves what he is teaching and he is hilarious. Now. I had a super hard time with reading, I'm more of an auditory learner, and I do need to relisten to lectures and he won't provide that because he doesn't record. That's just me though, you HAVE to read the test you'll be more than fine. Tough grader

Fred Rose is a fun, engaging professor. The course is a little challenging due to heavy brain anatomy and terminology, so get ready to memorize a lot, and many test questions come from the textbook rather than lectures. Attendance isn't required, but some test questions come from things he says in class, which aren't on lecture slides.

Professor Rose is truly amazing. I loved his lectures, they were always so interesting and I felt like I took away so much from this class. Just be aware that it is VERY reading-heavy and both concept and test heavy. Staying on top of the readings, taking solid notes, and listening in lecture are definitely the way to do well!

The midterms and final are not bad if you just do the required reading from the textbook and attend lectures. He doesn't provide study guidance at all but I just studied the end of module reviews in the books and highlighted terms/concepts and got As on all of the exams. No curve or extra credit available.

He is a very engaging and fun professor who you can tell is very passionate about what he's teaching! He makes it clear from the start and pretty much throughout the quarter that he does not curve/round and does not record lectures. He doesn't have any study guides, but exams are pretty reflective of the things he covered in class and the reading.

EXTREMELY HARD he is good at teaching my problem: at the end of the course he released final grades and I thought I had 366 points but it was really 357 because he drops the lowest grade. I went through so many mixed emotions and almost had a heart attack not knowing if i passed or not(i didn't) the most i ever studied in my LIFE and still failed.

Is this a difficult class? YES. A lot of reading? YES. Does he make it interesting and fun? YES. He answers all your questions. Attending his lectures helps understanding the content and highlights key parts of the chapter. Some exam questions are based solely on lecture, not the textbook. There are 2 midterms and a final, all MCQs.
