Fred Smith is an ok guy! However his class is a little more challenging than it should be for non business majors. I feel the class teaches you a lot. However, the grades are difficult to transfer into the same good result. He would do good to ask straight up questions instead of making sure you know your material like you know your ****!

Fred Smith is a sarcastic, arrogant, "better than thou" teacher. He has an ego that won't quit, and makes his course EXTREMELY stringent when it comes to VERY specific details (like the paper size & pen use mentioned before, as well as WHERE to write your name on the paper). He doesn't set students up to succeed, or appear to care when they don't.

Fred Smith is a great professor even though I didn't think so during the semester. I just took the final and I am pretty sure I failed or ended with a D in the class. It's not his fault I didn't apply myself or get help when I needed it. If you're not the type of person to put in the extra work take this class with someone else.

Fred is a great guy but very dry sense of humor like most accountants so non-accounting people don't like him. Inverted classroom so you work with group on "homework" problems during class and watch the next periods lecture videos for homework. The material is not that difficult but study for tests if accounting does not come naturally to you.

I took this class online over the summer. The lecture videos are good but sometimes you have to watch them again to get all the information. Good amount of homework but it helps you learn the material and some of the questions were on the tests. Goes well with FINAN 450 study if you don't understand accounting/finance. Buy the financial calculator.

Fred Smith has a great personality and it very knowledgeable in accounting. However, his classroom is a flipped classroom which for me was difficult to learn from. You watch his recorded lectures at home and then work on the homework in groups in class. I wouldn't take this class with him again only because of the flipped class aspect.

Fred Smith is one of the worst teachers I have ever had, the flipped classroom is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. I was unable to remember anything that was supposed to be done at home due to his setup of a classroom.

Fred is one of the best professors I've had so far. He uses a flipped classroom- you watch the lectures at home and do the homework in class- which I find a much better way to learn. He is funny and knows his stuff, and really wants you to do well. His class is test heavy (500/600 points)- study hard, go to class for attendance and you'll be fine.

Acts like his class is most important class and it's the only class you have. Does a flipped classroom (lectures online/homework during class) which doesn't work for 50% of the students. He makes his class way too hard at the first accounting level, most students aren't even majoring in it. He needs to make some some major changes.

Fred is the worst teacher I have ever had. Hes a good guy but i'm certain the dude has to be smoking crystal meth because the amount of effort he puts into this entry level accounting class is unbelievable. Not to mention the completely unnecessary amount of paper dude prints off to give you, that no one ever looks at/.

Fred is by far the worst professor I've had in my time at K-State. He consistently sets students up for failure and seems to pride himself on it. I would strongly advise taking this class with another professor or at another university entirely.

took him this summer and 10/10 do not recommend him. his exams are set up to where you can only answer one question at a time, and you cannot go back and change it. Also, his teaching strategy is not effective. Take it with someone else in the fall.

Due dates always on weekdays for an asynchronous online program??? Why does he require we print horribly formatted docs for all notes/assignments? Lectures are old, accompanied by multiple revisions. Too lazy to fix. Why not use PowerPoint? References outdated resources/material. Paranoid. Fred would be run out of a modern workplace. Mailing it in.
