Rushes throughout her lectures.
She acts as if she's doing you a favor by teaching the course. Bad attitude.

If she stops being so mean to students, I will like her a bit.
Got an A- . Like most profs, gotta play by her rules. She doesn't like e-mails... so I use the TA office hours instead. Otherwise, read the text before attending her lectures. She can be nice to people who she knows put in the effort.
What are you all complaining about. Its open book, open notes, questions are exactly the same as homework. I and others found her to be funny and entertaining. what does it matter if average grade on exam is 50% you still end up with a good mark.

Opened each lecture with "I know, I know. I don't want to be here either so let's just get this over with." Lectures involved her writing down the text on overheads word-for-word. What a waste of time!
Her way of teaching is just so so but she is really very very helpful if you approach her for assistance.
talk and write (alot) at the same times and it's hard to catch up, plus her handwriting is bad, which she doesn't admit. she gives assignment and quiz every class and only allows one 10 min break for a 3-hr lecture. boot-camp lecturer
Starts lecture 10 minutes early, ends it 10 minutes late. Teaching style EXTREMELY grating on one's nerves. Yells at students frequently. Abominable handwriting. Knows her economics, but not much else, including student relations. Avoid at all costs.
speaks way too fast, sloppy writing.... disrespect on student's questions and questions are definitly not encouraged during class. my advise, drop her class before you start to suffer
The WORST prof I ever have in my life! Yells at students alot and doesn't care the students understand or not. Also, don't forget your tutorial section when writing midterms, otherwise, she yells again!

i dun quite agree with all the previous comments.. her assignments are quite helpful for midterms and finals.. and when does she yell at students?? only to those that keep talking in class...
She is a nice person. Very helpful. Know sum cantonese^^ She always try her best to explain when u ask her questions. Has gd memories on students. Dun skip her class, then u will be ok on mt n final!!

Her exams are super hard. Even though I did quite well on both courses, I admitted that I did'nt have a clue how to do her final exam in 418. Try not to leave any question blank. For midterm 418, study chapter 13 about alternative ways of hedging.
Only thing i dun like about her is her horrible writing and that she talks like rocket in class~~ she does have good memory and will yell @ you if you talk during her lecture and don't attend her tutorials~~

Go to class. Write down EVERYTHING. You'll do great. Just know how to write as fast as she does, and write what she SAYS, not what she writes. If you have to read her writing, you're going to spend half the class asking the people around what certain words are.

Her notes aver very imporatnt, but she writes way too fast and messy. Nice Person, sometimes rude with her student if some one critics her. She has to slow down and be more organize... But still she is very nice
She does write fast and she writes in proper sentences and grammer. Paragraphs have no place in an econ lecture. Point-form notes are the norm. Assignments are so easy, done the night before and still 80%. Just write everything she says and you'll do fine.
freda is a warm heart professor. Although there are only 2 hours leture every week. She alwasy try to cover important concept as much as she could within the 50 mins lecture. Anyway, she is nice.. easy marker too
Very Hard midterm and final exam, u can't understand the questions she asked, and what u need to answer!!! Don't skip her class, she is based on her lecture notes, not textbook!
Her teaching method is unacceptable for me. The main point joining her class is to be a good writer or secretary. She never really explained something. Moreover, she is not helpful to students " are you that stupid that you cannot understand this simple little thing?" is an example of what she said

No one could be worse!
I just took bus 410 with her. Before the final, everything (midterm, quizes) seem to be fine. But the final is so hard, harder than you can ever imagine (even I did study for it).
Crazy final. She keeps saying the course topics are "common sense" and "straight forward". She doesn't wanna teach at all.
At first I thought she was going to be this horrible prof based on the first day of class but then she turned out to be pretty nice and helpful. in the end she was a really good prof. Just make sure to get her as your TA

Well..don't take her too serious. Take turns in typing up the lecture notes and get a financial calculator...All in all it s a really bad course but you can get acceptable grades. And make sure not to mess up the quizzes.
Taking Bus 418 with her. I think she should have been huged more as a kid. She is brutal. Not so knowledgable. She makes me feel uncomfortable in class. Hard midterm. I dont know where she gets the questions from. She also tends to focus more on oriental students. I guess she just likes her own race better. BAAAAAD prof.
Prof tries to cover way too much material in too little time. She speaks extremely fast and really expects you to have a clear understanding of economic concepts. Her exams are based on lecture material and she doesn't work much from the text. Final was very difficult even with lots of preparation.
Prof. Sumeke teaches very well. She's dedicated, writes everything down, and never wastes her time. She is also kind and reasonable, as long as you are studying hard.
It's great to see a prof who truly cares for her students. Very very dedicated. Only downside is that she writes down her notes on the overhead and her printing isn't the best of the best. But that's easily forgiven given how much she helps out her students in class.
She's horrible! I had her for my TA class, she's subjective in her marking, has that Asian method of teaching, very strict! Avoid her if you can!
simply avoid her!! she is horrible! i did quite good in the lower division course that is related to this course! but she just makes things really hard. on top of all, she can never answer a question. she force students to ask questions and she cant answer them. simply horrible, just avoid her.
Took her class a year ago. If only I knew about this website, I would definitely switch to the day class. Note taking 3 hrs straight, no time to comprehend what she wrote or said. Hard midterm and final. Made me hate derivatives! But the average is so low that you will get through the course with an average mark.
she's humorsome. u will never figure out what happens on her while you talk with her. sometimes, she's really really nice to you with your questions, and sometimes she's out of mood. if she said she would make you crazy on the final, dont be juberous, she really did so to her class. she's always try to keep her class average around 65%.
not too bad if you actually studied her notes. very interesting prof. teaches new stuffs that mite not be expected in this course but she go thru it thoroughly and the new materials are very helpful to other Econ courese. However, very poor handwriting. Lots of note taking, write and write constantly & quickly.

100% Son of ****. Although her stuff is very easy, she never explain them well. What she is doing is just copying the notes and project them she prepared many many years ago. She can never teach in an efficient manner. She love to embrass the students but actually no one agree with her. Purely ****!!!
TOO MUCH NOTE TAKING. however, you can easily do well on the course if you just memorized the notes. she's great helper if you go to the office hours a lot. she can see that you are willing to learn then she became friendly with you.

A true rose among shrubs; Ms. Sumeke's class was informative, comprehensible, and (more than most hoped) very quantitive - atleast by Econ 200 levels. If you embrace the class and its professor, you will be better educated and more appreciative than you initially thought possible. There are no free rides: you will only receive as much as you give.

Freda is absolutely useless as a professor. The amount of note taking is absurd. She has little knowledge in the subjects she teaches so don't expect any of your intuitive questions answered correctly or with any degree of common sense. She frequently cancels classes due to petty illnesses and will deny extra office hours. Avoid this prof.
basically, you have no idea about what she writes in the class notes;(extremely poor hand writing!) so you can easily get distressful, however finally when you figure it out, it is totally/almost bull****!(make easy stuffs complicated!) not a good prof in explaining anything! very poor attitude to students, not reasonable in exam marking!
The very beginning of this course is easy, but as this course progresses, it does get harder. Basically, if you have forgotten what you have learned in Bus 316, you will need to put in the extra effort to do well in this course. This is a difficult course so you need to study hard. Her quizzes are easy, her tests are difficult, so look out!
Freda is one of the best teachers I've ever had! I took her Micro class in Kwantlen and I loved it. I took this economic class as an elective and now Im so into economics. She makes her class a fun environment and she makes an extraordinary management of her time. I totally recomend her :D
She tells a loooot of stories about her life and theyre quite entertaining :P At first i thought she was terrible because i wasn't processing any info that she taught in class, but after acing the first test, i realized she actually taught me a lot. Now after completing her class i would recommend her to anybody!

Her attitudes to students are sometimes very insulting when you have questions to ask her. Personally I do not recommend to take her classes. Her hand writing is also very hard to read sometimes.
Not helpful at all. She uses another prof's textbook, assignment questions, and practice quiz yet she told us that she had a different style of testing anyways. She doesn't give the right formulas for assignments yet says the class material is super easy. She shows up late to class and then says we're behind in learning the material.
It's 30 mins into lecture and she still hasn't shown up. She is late for every lecture, and then blames the class for being behind. Her lectures consist of rewriting the textbook in note form rather than actually working through relevant problems.
She was an hour and a half late for the final, rushes through the notes, saying "this is common sense I need to move on, there's no time" yet she comes 15 minutes late to every class, and that's being generous. She only hand writes her notes with her terrible writing. Most disorganized class I've ever been in. DO NOT TAKE!
The final exam was supposed to start at 12pm. It is currently 1:20pm. Freda isn't here yet and the exam hasn't started. Absolutely no word on what is happening and it's a 50% final exam. Says a lot about how the prof is I believe.
The worst course ever! And the worst prof ever!
Although this semester doesn't went very smoothly but she gave out the grade very generous.
She came 20 minutes late to every class and was always complaining that we are behind. Her notes consist of summarizing the textbook and her writing was beyond messy. Quiz 1 was incorrect, a student sent quiz to the finance department & they said it is unsolvable. She came late to both the midterm by 15 mins & final by 1.5 hours. STAY AWAY!
HORRIBLE PROF! She was late for every class. 20 min late for the midterm. 2 hours late for the final exam. Lectures were uninformative. Didnt explain anything in depth. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HER!
I took BUS 312 with Professor. Freda. She gave us lectures that are informative and very practical that we can apply to real world. Even though she was sometimes late for her lectures (NOT ALWAYS AS OTHERS MENTIONED), I loved her lectures and her enthusiasm towards all of her lectures. If you do all hw and attend classes, you will do well !
