Prof. Marton is really into Geology which makes the class that more interesting. You will have to read the assignments before coming to class. You receive a review before every exam. Lab exams are a bit challenging but if you do the labs in class, you will be OK. Study & do the work, you will do well in the class.

I never felt like I was being talked down to or patronized in his class and he has both excellent academic credentials for his position as well as a lot of time given to his area of study outside a classroom setting. Paramount above all else was his enthusiasm for his subject, something that I wish more teachers could match in any area of study.

Unfortunately, this has been the most difficult teaching experience I have encountered at Bergen. I would not recommend this instructor. Although he allows students to make mistakes, he rarely offers opportunities to correct them.

Lecture heavy, labs long and tedious, no hw, three writing assignments apa format, 4 exams study because they are not easy, gives a study guuide but there might be things from lecture so if you aren't there you miss them. Passionate about geology but if you ask a question the response isn't clear. Unless you need it probably pick something else.

I wouldn't recommend this class to anybody. Very difficult especially as an intro class he expects everyone to just automatically know everything. He grades work 2 months after there completed...

He is a TERRIBLE professor. Notes are all over the place. He will say something and retracts it. Reads off a paper and just throws stuff on the board. You never know what he is putting on his tests. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CAN TAKE SOMEONE ELSE. He should just quit and become a scientist that he believes he already is.

Genuinely one of the worst graders in Bergen. His discussion are set to be due one day but initial posts have to be done 3-4 days prior. I realized I have missed one of those deadlines and multiple students also. Right away he drops the grade to an 80 if you are even a minute late. Would not recommend this professor at all.

He's extremely picky when it comes to grading. If something isn't exactly how he would've written it you're not going to get a good grade. I wouldn't recommend taking this professor unless you want to be stressed out every class. The lectures are 3 hours long but you still feel confused after.

This teacher overall was not bad, he was very lecture heavy, but allows breaks. His tests are kind of difficult, if you don't like physics just don't take it.
