I would highly recommend this professor. Once you get used to his demeanor you will be hard pressed to find a more thorough instructor. He is very fair where your grades are concerned and more then willing to help as long as you ask.
Very informative and thorough. But above all, CLARIFIES what the book says. Great use of classtime: We got hands-on with the 3-d models and microscope slides. If you got confused about something, he would explain it or even drew diagrams.
Do not take him if your not willing to work. But he is an awesome teacher. Gives excellent notes to you, his tests are fair, no tricks or gimmicks. He tells you what will be on test. Very willing to help with anything, can be a little intimidating.
Hard class, good teacher.
very clear and simple corse requirments. (4 tests & 2 lab tests) good lectures and gives lecture notes to students after lecture. 99% of everything on test is on his notes. USE THEM!! exempt from final if "A" average in class.
I think he is a hard teacher. I studied the notes he gave us and still did bad on his tests. His lectures are good, but they don't help when it comes to the test. I wouldn't recommend him.
hard teacher
If you are looking for an easy class, this is not the one to be in. He is a really good teacher and his notes were great, but don't forget to read the book. It also helps that he's a doc too so he can explain things that not all prof. could. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Muth is an outstanding teacher. He explains concepts clearly and supplements the text with his own real world experience. Also impressive was that he knew all of the students name by the third class. You will work for the grade in this class.
I did not find this class to be difficult what so ever. If you have taken A&P then it's more like a refresher of concepts already learned. His attendance policy is crazy (3 unexcused = 1 letter grade). He is smart but, can be a little arrogant.
You have to work for your grade but he is a GREAT teacher! Don't be scared of his sarcastic attitude he really likes everyone :)
excellent teacher.
This professor is the worst ever!!!He is so into himself and not willing to use everyday vocabulary. His notes suck and so does his attitude. He remembers students names because they drop him and he only has about 10 ort of 27.
very hard to follow
Hard as balls my brain sizzles when he talks I think I need counseling now
Dr. Muth is a hard teacher, but he lets you know that the first day of class. I wouldn't recommend him if you are looking for an "easy A". If you study and pay attention in class you should do well. 4 Test and 2 Labs he also offers extra credit. If you want to learn anatomy then take him.
NOT EASY AT ALL. A LOT OF EFFORT IS NEEDED ON TOP OF BEING A VERY HARD WORKER. LECTURE NOTES DO NOT AT ALL HELP W/TESTS!!!!!
I took him for Nutrition and really enjoyed it! Some of the ratings are a bit too harsh, yes- you have to study some- hello, we are in college! But, he's very passionate about what he teaches, which makes class time to be very interesting! Good teacher- and his sarcasm is humorous!! He's not mean
This classes SUCKED!!!! Notes didn't help. Lectures didn't help. Was told to study outlines and did and still failed the tests. Had to be a bio wiz to pass his class. Don't ever take him
The class was ok. His assignments weren't clear. This guy is very egotistical! Stay away!
Good professor.Easy classes I don't read and I still got an A. Helps to be exposed to the subject area. He is very detailed and helpful. No he is not full of himself, but he knows his stuff. You don't have to be a genius to pass his classes.
Dr Muth is very interesting but not easy. He will help you out more if you need extra help. At the beginning of the course he clearly states how to succeed and if you study you will. I highly recommend him for serious science majors.
You will do alot of studying. Sometimes he doesn't explain things in easy terms. The test are very hard. He is a good teacher though.
All the materials that was given really didn't help on the test in my opinion. He had to give a big curve for the whole class, or else all of us would have failed. I recommmend to find another teacher.
I ended up dropping this class. I found his lectures to be SO boring (and I am a health science major so its not the subject matter, its the presentation) Everyone in the class spent the whole time looking at each other trying to figure out where he was going with his lectures. If you want a great teacher, try David Seal at North campus!
This professor really knows his stuff. If you want to be challenged then take him. He does offer a blood donation as extra credit.
Boring yes, but easy class, I never opened my book until the day of class. He isn't that clear on material but quizes were easy since he lets you use notes & text book. He is kind of arrogant but it did not affect my grade. Just show up he will take points off for that.
If any of you are going into the health field, this is the teacher you wanna take. He is not easy but you have to study your behind offfff. And you also walk out of the class knowing this stuff. It was very challenging but i enjoyed him as a teacher.
If all the professors in college were as intelligent and thorough as he is, a degree would be much more than a piece of paper. Class is very challenging but it is appropriately curved for this. If you are pre-med or PT, your work will pay off.
He is an excellent teacher. The material is tough, but you will know the material by the end. I would definetly recommend for pre med students. He can be difficult..but he is also fun.
class is pretty boring. he makes u watch these really old bio videos all the time (my suggestion is to just leave). but if u read the book, it is pretty easy. the final is a compilation of all the other test u've had so just study those. the worst is the mini quizes he gives each day. u have to pay attention in class and respond with ur remote to these questions on powerpoint
he is an horrible teacher, he bounces from subject to subject all the time, you are required to make a ten minute presentation his tests are not at all what he covers in class. However he is rather intelligent, but not my cup....good luck to who ever takes this class you will need it.
This professor sucks. You will have a quiz every day based on silly power point presentations, and nothing he covers in class will be on the mid-term. He also gives out crossword puzzles for homework. Yes, crossword puzzles, like the ones you did in elementary. This class is a joke!
Mr. Muth has no teaching skills whatsoever. He knows the subject matter, but doesn't know how to teach it which doesn't help you at all! Don't take him!!
A "college" level professor. If you need your hand held, don't bother. You must earn your grade in his class. The entire course is outlined on the 1st day - all you have to do is listen. Just show up, pay attention, do the work (yes, DO the work) and look alive. You'll learn more from him than anyone else, guaranteed, and it will pay off.
Dr. Muth really knows what he is teaching and will make sure that you know it. He gives outlines of the chapters where most of the info is already filled in. As long as you study them you will have no problems with the tests. Great professor.
Need to attend every class in order to follow and study. But he's really good.
Aswesome teacher. I took this guy in community college. Best professor I ever had, and I am a UF alum and none there were better. Extremely knowledgeable and cares for the students. He curves tests and provides outlines/study guides so theres no reason to fail. A+++++++++
GREAT Professor! This was a very informative class. You have to do ALL your work and the tests are hard, but if you do everything else you can still do "ok" on the tests and pass with an A. He knows his stuff!
It was a time that i trusted this site but after taking this P. Muth class, i can hear his exact words in this site. He does not know the power of word of mouth. This Professor teaches like if you are in Kinder Garden, and tests you like if y r in the last year of medical school. NOT RECOMMMENDED.
I enjoyed his class, he can be funny at times.. one of the best teachers i ever had. you can get alot from his class and bottom line he takes care of you. highly rec
he can come off as being arrogant, but overall he is a great teacher and he makes sense and KNOWS what he is talking about! I got a C, but wished i would have studied harder... Study his notes real good and you will do well!
I took Muth's API class over 1.5 yrs ago and I'm now in the Radiography program. He was such a great prof that I STILL remember most of what he taught, which is ALL necessary for my board exam. You'll not find a better prof! I'm ahead in the game in my program thanks to his teaching and lecturing styles. If you care about your career, take him.
I took him for biology, and AP1. In bio i got an A, for ap1 i got a B. If you read the book & listen in class its pretty easy. i did notice a lot of people dropped the ap1 class though. he does make you do a presentation in ap1 though... he grades it pretty easily.
WARNING.not a good teacher, does not make the material understandable not recomended for a&p one of the tests you are required to know every bone in the body(all in one test!)not only that but you have to know every part of each bone(there is 5-10 parts to each)the test is done by showing you a single bone and you name it and the parts no word bank!
Hard Hard Hard!! He had to curve everyone's test just so the class would pass. He will call on people to give answers on material that has yet to have been covered. He also teaches at UNF and loves to tell you all about how that. If you ask a question in class he will make you look stupid. Had to learn all the bones and a ton of the muscles. RUN!!
good teacher if you make at least 360 points on all 4 hourly exams and a C or better on his lab practicum test you recieve an A for the class and don't have to take his final however his exams do require a little studying before you take them
Muth knows his stuff. He offers up a lot of material. His tests are challenging and comprehensive. He uses large curves to compensate for the difficulty of his exams. We often wondered if got stuck teaching bio and would rather be doing A&P or nutrition. His labs were unengaging.
I took him for A&P 1 and i thought he was an excellent teacher. This class is ment to be difficult however i never got the text book and i got a B. He hands out his lecture notes and gives the students web links for diagrams and practice tests. His test can be difficult but he does curve them and gives extra credit. I would highly recomend him.
dr. muth's class is rather hard. he goes over the information very quickly and trys to trick you on his 100 question tests. if you ask a question about anything in class he will make fun of you. dr. muth is a nice guy and a great teacher but be prepared to study. alot.
Very Very Very HARD! I wouldn't take any other class while taking this one! Dr. Muth is a good teacher but his expectations are very high and honestly unrealistic. He does give you several resources to use...unfortunately none of this helps with his very difficult and tricky tests of 100 questions...you never know what to study because he puts so m
I learned so much in this class, he will prepare you for harder classes. don't take him if you are lazy and don't want to work hard for your grade
Do not take this professor. I was the top student in the class and worked my ass only to recieve a high B. Unrealistic standards, and is very sarcastic. Very knoweledgeable though, and is very approachable on a one on one basis.
I got an A... I worked hard, but it was worth it. Good, quality class, you won't just forget the material after the semester is over. Tests are indeed 100 questions, but the curve can be substantial, definately in the student's favor. Only take if serious about this area of science. Guy knows all about science as well, ask him anything.
He's a good teacher, but it's just plain boring and like any other class...read the book and you'll be fine!
Heard this guy was really hard but soon realized it's just the volume of information required by the course and not the professor that makes this course difficult. He is the best guy to take for this class. Knowledgeable, approachable and fair. The curve really helps but you really need to work to get an A...which I did :) Glad I chose this guy
not easy but very knowledgeable, if you have a smart-alack sense of humor will you will get along just fine, be prepared to study alot!
Dr. Muth is a good teacher his lectures notes are clear and understandable but you need to read the book in order to do well on the quizzes as long as you study for the tests, read the book and make use of your lab time you'll get an A in the class
Prof. Muth was my anatomy 1 teacher. Very knowledgable and will help if you ask for help. Alot of information so you need to study quite a bit. Test were on the hard side but he grades on a curve. I really enjoyed the class and ended up with an "A". I would reccomend him to anyone serious about taking anatomy and is willing to put alot of time in.
This teacher is great! He is extremely knowledgable about the human body. He grades on tests and quizes in class that he gives you the answers to prior to the quiz. Others said his tests were difficult but i found them rather easy. I only studied about an hour or two before and made ALL A's on all of the tests. Excellent teacher to learn from!
Didn't like when questions were asked. Looks at you like your dumb if you do as one. Lots of in class quizzes and isn't very clear on the material he provides. A ton of notes and tests are incredibly hard!!
I do not reccomend him. His tests are extremely hard and he seems to think he is better than his students.
I liked him a lot. I took him for Biology and Nutrition. If you pay attention and study what he teaches, it's pretty much how much and what you study is what you get in a grade. I'd take him again if he taught all the science classes I needed at Kent campus.
Don't take this guy. He is horrible. His explanations on subject matter are more confusing than the book. He throws too many details at once and does not give you a chance to let is sink in. I ended up taking a different Anatomy and Physiology class and made an A.He knows his stuff but is not good at teaching it.Good for him,NOT good for you.
Dr. Muth is incredible. This is NOT an easy class?need time for studying. Get w/ a study buddy!! We studied 5-10 hrs a week min., but well worth it. Professor is nice, fair, interested in material and it shows. One powerpoint presentation required (25 pts) and 4 exams(drop 1) plus final. Quizzes every week. I got a B. Hope an A for AP 2 :)
Dr. Muth is a horrible professor. he gives notes without explanation. this is not a class on nutrition, its a class on how well you can teach yourself the notes he gives you. studied for a few hours every day and still did terrible.
I am currently taking his human a&p this semester, I almost didn't because I have to drive SOOO far to get to the campus he's at..but he is worth it. His tests are pretty difficult to me, BUT knowing that beforehand really ecourages me to study harder, and it solidifies the material. I would reccomend this professor. He's actually kinda cute too!:)
Sweet claas
Wouldnt take him again. The classs pretty much consists of copying notes from PowerPoint - not much teaching (or reinforcement)on his half. Quizzes same day he reviews material (worth 15%). However, he paces the class nicely to allow optimal study time. Very cool guy, but should stick to his day job.
very well kept. hard class, if your going to take his class, just take one class, will take up all of your time, but well worth it.
Dr. Muth is a great teacher, he puts a lot of effort into his class, and expects a lot from his students. Information comes at your quick, if you want to learn about this subject take his class, if you are taking it to fill a science credit, watch out. 30 students started this class, 10 finished the semester.
im not going to lie, this class was one of the most challenging classes, but dr.muth knows his stuff!so if your plann on becoming a biology major, you need to take him.he is more helpful during labs, then lectures flies by those lectures, its critical that you study nightly!take a quiz everday, but should be easy if you take notes!take him at ur own risk
HIS LECTURES ARE FAST AND HE DOESNT LET IT SINK IN BEFORE HE GIVES YOU A QUIZ THAT SAME HOUR. HE DOES PROVIDE AN OUTLINE AFTERWARD.THE PRACTICUMS ARE HARD AND SO ARE THE TESTS.HE DOES CURVE THEM. I DID GOOD ON A PROJECT BUT IT WAS ONLY 25PTS. U HAVE TO WORK FOR AN A.
You can't miss a class because he gives you quiz questions that can hurt your grade if missed. Be prepared to TONS of studying on your own.... he reads over the information but the tests go way more in depth so you have to read the book and know everything on the outline he gives you.
Initially seemed like a good teacher. Challenging tests, however the curve fixes it. NOT RECOMMENDED he did not enter my final lab practical at all even after he graded it, placed the graded paper in his office with a note stating it had not been entered, still received a 0 out of 100, I should have had a B but now I am lucky I passed.
Very hard class. Quiz every class. Have to memorize all major bones and 52 muscles with origin, insertion & function. Test are extremely hard. He does grade on a curve and YOUR GOING TO NEED IT. I plan on taking him in the summer for Anatomy 2.
HORRIBLE! ONE OF THE WORST TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD! HIS TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLY HARD! the class average was a 69! thats not passing-how pathetic! DO NOT TAKE hIM WHATEVER YOU DO!
One of the hardest class I have ever token!. I know the class its self is hard but he makes it impossible to pass. His test don't make sense to what he tells you to know. Your whole class is based on tests and quizzes. There is a quiz everyday and you dont know whats on it. I wouldnt recommend this teacher. I got a D in his class and fell behind!
This teacher really knows his stuff... Unfortunately he doesn't know how to teach it. He expects you to take notes from the power points and read the book... which isn't hard, RIGHT? Well when you are expected to remember EVERYTHING from EVERY chapter it is VERY hard. The tests are over about 4 chapters a piece and are 100 questions long.
VERY intelligent man. Doesn't make the material easy to understand. Uses a lot of medical terminology so you spend the your time during lecture trying to translate his every sentence. You MUST go into class prepared. He will answer your questions thouroughly but makes you feel a little uneasy for asking them. Take bio & chem upon entry!!
he's very knowledgable but it's a very difficult class. in order to pass this class you'll need to know the text book inside out. he gives lecture notes and chapter outlines but they arent detailed enough to study for his test which are extremely hard. unless biology comes to you naturally, i wouldnt recommend you take this professor.
His tests are extremely hard but it's also extremely hard not to get an A or a B becuase of his grading system. he is really smart, knows everything there is to know about bio. Take his class!!
Very intelligent and his test are difficult but straightforward, just know the material inside and out. He has a bit of a smart-butt sense of humor but I enjoyed his demeanor and his class. Took him for as many of my bio/anatomy classes as I could. Definitely would take him again
Muth knows his stuff, he's somewhat tough. It's super hard to get an A on his test without him curving the grade. But no worries there he curves all his tests by a letter 1-2 letter grades. Study for his tests! READ THE BOOK! If you read the book and study the outlines for every chapter he gives you and you understand it you'll do fine in the class
No way to pass without reading chapters....THOROUGHLY. Professor is unclear about what is going to be on tests, and when asked about the material he blows you off and tells you to just read his notes. Claims that you can pass his tests just from using notes....YEAH RIGHT. Assigns 4+ chapters to study from per test. Don't recommend this professor at
Any biology class is though and there is so much material. This class was fun and prof Muth wants you to succeed. He is clear and his sense of humor makes the lectures interesting, he gives you outlines (that the tests COME FROM) and curves the heck out of tests. Show up, pay attention, take notes (and study them) and you'll get an A!
Dr. Muth is an expert on his topic. His tests are very hard, but all of the answers are in his handouts, all you need do is study. If you are the type to wait until two days before the test to study, you will fail. Study as you receive the material, and you will get an A. He coaxes you to answer your own questions often, but proves you knew it.
Study and you will do well.
He is not really helpful. I can say that he is a very intellegent person and he knows his stuff. But the problem is that he's always rushing on everything, even though the time is long. I would really not recommend this instructor to anyone unless you like tough instructor. He is always making his material hard to understand. All I can say terrible
He is a very good professor, my favorite so far. He may be a bit intimidating but dont let him fool you. He has a good sense of humor and I def recommend him. He is tuff but any A&P course, if you want to learn the information well, will be hard.
He is an expert! Great, helpful teacher! Study and complete the assignments and you will do well. End of story.
He is a great teacher if you are willing to commit to the class. Attendance is a must. He is not an easy A, but as long as you apply yourself and put in a lot of effort you should do fine.
Demanding class. A ton of material is covered. You have to study to do well in this class. He does provide you with notes, but you must take the time to learn them. If you are willing to work then it will be no problem.
A little dry, but he knows his stuff. Attend class, pay attention and do assignments. He only gives two tests-midterm and final, so don't wait till the last minute to study. Use online tools, esp. chapter quizzes, as he will often give these as graded assignments. You also get extra credit for giving blood.
This class was very informative. I took his online course over summer, 8 weeks. I recommend taking it over spring/fall because the work load is a lot if taking it online. (not sure about on campus) Midterm, Final, 12 chapter quizzes, two 1-paged papers a week, lots of discussion board! Easy class if you can get it all done!
I didn't buy the text book and have made 100 on 2 tests and 93 on the third. His tests are hard but he curves them SO much! I think this guy is super funny and cool. His class isn't that bad, just do the practice tests online and read through your notes and you'll make an A with the curve.
I went to class every day, did the quizzes scored highly on them, turned in all homework, also scored highly on those but when it came down to the test it was completely different from what he gave you to study in the guides.
He really knows his stuff. This class is really difficult and he doesn't make it any easier. He has very generous curves but you really have to study and know the chapters from front to back. I wouldn't recommend this Prof unless this is the only class you're taking.
He has a PHD and has no patience whatsoever he rushes everything!! His clases are based on powerpoints and a clicker, his notes make no sense in regards to his 100 multiple question tests. He skipped lab practi****a couple of times.I had to withdraw by the deadline it was clearly a cut throat class i would not recommend him!!!
This class was extremely difficult. I was stressed out over this class. The notes aren't helpful, the practicums were difficult, and attendance was mandatory. We started with about 20 ppl and ended up w/maybe 10-12 ppl at the end of this semester. He is a nice guy but pls DO NOT take this class if you care about your GPA.
I actually made a 77 on a test and he curved it to 100. I study a lot on my own and usually have an outline before going into class, which is sort of what he expects - that's why he goes so fast. I'm taking him for two more classes.
what to remember about this guy - he has been a REAL doctor in high stress hospital settings. Yes, he is intense and intimidating. Hes an ok teacher, but not easy to talk to/ask questions to. Remember, do the online quizzes!! I have an A right now, but theres still a month of class left. Test 3 was the hardest.
I took him for bio 1 last fall and i wish he was available for bio 2! Class was short, about an hour of lecture one day and less than hour of lab the other day. Not much work outside of class and he adds about 20 points to every test! So that 60 becomes a mid B! Pretty easy really and was fairly interesting
The only two tests we had were a midterm and final, I got B and a high C on both before a curve (otherwise they became A's). No true way to prepare them. It is a really good class though and he REALLY knows his stuff. Oh, and to study for the tests dont bother with his notes, read the book. Hes tough but fair.
Am disappointed that hes not teaching in fall.Pros-EC for donating blood, online quizes prepare you for exams, you get to drop 1 exam, project at the end of the semester is easy(dont be intimidated by it),weekly quizes come AFTER the powerpoint, labs r not graded(no partners).Cons-if you cant donate blood you dont get EC, clickers are 40$. Miss u muth!
PLEASE do not take him if you actually want to learn Biology. He literally rushed through everything and made changes to things without notifying students. He was absolutely the worst teacher I have had in all my semesters going here. Tests were 100 questions long and some of them we NEVER went over in class. Horrible teacher and horrible class.
Rushed through the powerpoints, half the test material(100 questions w/20 point curve)we never reviewed, and incredibly hard to approach. Never really understood what was going on half the time, and couldn't ask because all you'll get is a snide remark and told to ask a classmate. Definitely wouldn't recommend.
I do not recommend Professor Muth! The class consists of 4 hourly exams, labs every other day, a extremely hard lab practicum, and extremely hard final. I got good grades on all hourlys and the lab practicum. I spent hours studying for this class and came out with a C. Muth is mean and very hard to talk to, he is not approachable. don't take him!
He gives you everything that you need to pass the class and gives plenty of time to do assignments, but if you don't understand, you're strewed. He's hard to approach if you want to ask questions, and then belittles you. He does a new chapter a day and exams after every 4 chapters. If you have good study habits then his class is for you.
Was nervous going into his class after reading his reviews. His class wasn't so difficult. 1 reading assignment and ch. quiz each week, 2 tests (midterm & final), 2 dietary analysis, & daily in class PP quizzes. I paid attention & got a B. Couldve had an A, long story. Basically if u cant donate blood, ur SOL on EC.
I had Dr Muth for A&P 1 and he was just awesome, the course is hard in itself, a lot of material to learn, but really if you just do all your assignments online and try to do your best on the tests, you will be fine, taking him again for A&P2 :)
Dr. Muth is the type of professor that pushes you to use that brain in your head. Started with about 30 students and ended with 14. This is a hit or miss kind of course; you either want it or you don't. If you need someone to coddle you don't take this course. This guy gives you everything you need to achieve success on your own. Great professor.
I can't say Professor Muth has the best social skills. Talking with him is usually awkward. But he is a very smart guy and certainly knows his stuff. Very into research and nutrition. Very helpful once you get past the awkwardness. I liked him, he has a dry sense of humor. Just keep up with assignments.
WORST learning experience at FSCJ. He is a very smart person, but a HORRIBLE professor. Lectures are based on old powerpoints and are rushed, exams often include material not covered in class, there is no leniency regarding assignments, use of remote technology affected my grade negatively because of HIS ERROR and was still punished.
I took him for a&p and he was not very helpful. He is hard to talk to, goes too fast through the lecture, and the 2 practicums were timed and very long. Unless you plan to study at least 3 hours a day for him, don't take this course. He talks on a level too high to understand.
Not very helpful with all assignments.
Basically this guy is a genius. Great chance he will be the highest educated person in every room he walks into. With that said, be thankful someone with so much knowledge teaches at a junior college. His course isn't easy but nothing worth while is...
do not take muth if you want to learn biology !!! not helpful confusing did not grade assignments on time . did not count all the assignments completed . test were multiple choice and HARD !!! NOT APPROACHABLE ask for help he tell you ask your classmate . Would not recommend at all
There are no exceptions for technology glitches. He'll tell you it's out of his control & you get a 0. He was never there during his office hours and whenever I did go to see him he was always annoyed and gave very sarcastic answers. Make sure you do the extra credit and have the right clicker for his class!
Hybrid. Easy but if you miss class, you get a zero for the quiz (taken via clicker) for that day. Overall straight forward class. be responsible for your own actions and keep on top of your weekly quizzes & article summaries. 2 dietary analysis worth 25 pts each & midterm & final. donate blood for 10 pts ec
Great professor. A&P1. Will take him again. You can get a good grade, but expect to spend a lot of time studying. Do all homework, use his notes, read the textbook, and go to class. 2 practicums-100 questions(really study. Know how to spell every bone, muscle, cell type, function...everything). Mid-term and final exam (hard). I learnt a lot!!
Highly suggest not taking his class. He is a disrespectful professor. His test are hard only cause he doesn't go over things that well in his class room. Beware you have to buy a $52 dollar response clicker that you use maybe four times. You will better off with another professor.
