he's so indie.

looks lik shaggy from scooby-doo but a real laid bak teacher as long as u do the work he dont really care what else you do in his class or if you come late
He is really weird and he says ummm a lot. I don't really like writing and he does grade hard... Ehh! I don't recommend it! There are better and easier teachers!
hes really weird and a hard teacher but i think hes so hot..lol gotta love him!
Really weird guy, has his favorites and thats it. If your not his favorite your screwed. Just dont take his class.
He's tryin out for the Matisyahu look-alike contest. He's got a friggin weird monotone voice thing goin on and bores the heck outta me. He's about average on the difficulty scale.
i thought he was a really good teacher. i suppose he does grade hard but i got A's both times i had him as a professor. his assignments are challenging and make you think. pretty funny guy. once, since it was a nice day, we had class outside and climbed a tree. definately take this guy.
Mr.Redman...hmm...he is not that bad of a teacher i took him for intro to college writing over the summer b4 i was an actual freshman and he is very helpful when it comes to ur papers...he is funny in a wierd way. but he is cool...i got a B+ in the class.
pretty good professor, writes helpful comments on rough drafts and will answer any questions you have, attendance is necessary, and you have to read because he gives quizzes, but tells you about them the class before. I'm not sure why people say he is a tough grader, I got A-s on all my assignments. He's really laid back and is pretty funny.
cool guy i guess, laid back, tells you what to do, he likes to talk, a lot. will help if you need help you dont need the book he only uses it for readings which you can get somewhere else, like online.
Good professor. Pay attention in his class, and do the work. No late work is accepted, but he will let out the class early. Does grammar exercises that are boring, but will give you plenty of feedback on your papers, and makes his own prompts. Usually about 300 word count for responses, and 700-800 for papers. Much shorter than other teachers.
redman is horrible... he takes attendance everytime but kinda glances at the class. he almost failed me for missing 6 classes when i had almost missed 4! hes a ok grader i guess but hes not very responsible... you have to go to his class though he will let you out early... i wouldnt take him though
In the first class, he said that he was not a nice professor, but i think he has to work harder on that. He may seem to lay back in class, but as a student, you have to be responsible for your work. Start early on essays and response papers. Ask him for help and go to Writing Center if needed. Class attendance and participation are important.
Redman is the best, simple as that. He's kinda funny because he randomly does the weirdest stuff like drawing an ugly house on the board that represents an essay or says Boomshakalaka & cool beans. His grading is straight forward, I got B- on most of my papers but I'm not that very good of a writer so I'm satisfied. If you want a laid back teacher
Redman was an awesome teacher. He clearly stated objectives and gave good feedback on my papers. It was easy to revise papers with his clear notes on what he wants in my revision. He doesn't take late work so don't skip class when somethings due. I got an A- and didn't do all the response papers, just got good revision grades with his help.
He is not a hard instructor yet not an easy one. He encourages his students to think critically for the papers, because one needs to analyze the dramas in depth. Attendance is mandatory. One needs to turn in papers on time, because he doesn't accept late works. He is a funny instructor too.
Redman was a really hard english teacher! I never really understood the assignments and felt that he never taught us anything. He's a pretty hard grader too. I ended up having to withdrawl from his class so I didn't fail. I'm not bad at english classes either! I had a B+ in ENC1101! If you end up getting him I suggest you get into a diff class.
Hardest grading policy i have ever dealt with. Makes you feel like your at the honors college at Harvard. DO NOT TAKE!
Amazing Teacher. Helped so much with my writing skills. Fair grading and really knows what he's talking about. So funny too. I enjoy his class.
Hey is a really hard marker. I have an english tutor who tutors many other students in the same course. He read mine and said it was the best one that he had read out of all of the other papers he had read for that prompt. Redman gave me a C. Three other english profs said they would've given me at least a B. Two words: Sexist and favoritism.
I really enjoy Redman's classes. He is an excellent instructor, that relates to his students. He encourages critical thinking, and he is always challenging our intellects in class discussions. He looks at leterature from different pespectives and help us interpret it in plain English. Great guy, witty, best class ever!!!
Very Hard grader. Expects way too much for a freshman english class. The reading was extremely difficult. When changed the rough drafts to his suggestions, he criticized the final -- which reflected his suggestions. I would not recommend him at all. Even my English tutor felt he was unrealistic and unfair in his grading.
Awesome teacher! Very sarcastic and funny, makes the class very interesting and not the least bit boring. I definitely recommend taking any of his classes, you'll learn a lot and he teaches very well and makes sure you understand everything.
Like some people said on here, he is unforgiving when it comes to grading paper.. His class is challenging so it's definitely not an easy or a chill class. However, if you're looking for good education, look no further.
I thought he was a great teacher. Very funny and sarcastic. He once pied a kid in our class for fun. It was hilarious. He's a hard grader, but if your a decent writer and just follow the assignments, you'll do fine. I enjoyed that he only requires 900 words on all final drafts. It saved me alot of time. Overall great teacher.
He was a hard grader but i learned a lot in his class. The rewriting helped perfect my skills. I also liked the fact that we could concentrate on our papers and we did not have a lot of meaningless homework as the papers were enough! I would take him again.
Very interested in the subject he teaches. He is great at explaining the readings and putting things into perspective, but he is a HARD GRADER. I have never gotten anything lower than an A in a writing course and will be receiving a B+ in his course. If you are a weak writer I would not recommend him. Overall he is a pretty good teacher though.
Overall easy and managable class. When he actually teaches he can be quiet boring and dull. He is also very particual when it comes to grading. He does take attendence everyday and it will impact you grade. I was able to manage a B and didn't write two short papers. By far the worst part if the group performance.
Very hard grader. He couldn't make up his mind if he was teaching a business writing course or an english course. He mark's the changes he wants you to make, but normally those changes will bring B- paper to a B or B+. I ended up with an A- in the class, after spending HOURS on all the papers. Very hard to please.
i LOVED this class & i hate writing. ive never been a good writer but he was soo funny so it made the class really enjoyable. he is a hard grader, hes very critical however i got Bs and Cs on most of my paper in enc 1101 & 1102 & i got As on almost all the papers in his class. i really recommend him. again i hate writing but this was my fav class
Great Teacher! I wasn't looking forward to this class but it was awesome! He presented the material in a fun understandable way. He graded fairly and has a good memory (so don't try to resubmit anything!) would definitely take him again. He is funny and witty, make sure your "under the umbrella." :)
He's awesome. It's not the easiest english class to take but you will sure learn. He is funny and always willing to help. He is a tough grader but he gives plenty feedback on your rough drafts. Take him!
Very Fair grader. Very useful comments on paper drafts - he really wants you to improve your writing. Makes the reading material interesting. I would take him again. All the positive comments I read about him, prior to taking the class, were true.
Redman is really cool. He calls his students "dude" and is really laid back in class. Lets everyone go home early a lot. He is a struct grader, but it helps you write better. I would take him again.
Redman is a great professor. He is very smart and knowledgable of how to write. Sometimes his prompts aren't very clear so you MUST follow them as you write your papers. If you need help, just ask he is willing to help if you are willing to learn. Don't be a smart-alack and he will like you: Pay attention and take notes... If you talk he gets angry
One thing i Do not like about him is that on days that we have to turn in papers he streches the class out for the hour and twenty mind. He does not cut class short. A helpfull tip do not enter the CYCLE OF HATE!!!!
Great teacher. tells you exactly how to become a better writer. He is super funny. Would definitely recommend
He is a very tough grader. Unless you put some real time and effort into your papers expect to get a C on everything. He helps you become a better writer, but that doesn't mean much if you still get a low grade. Would not recommend for non-English majors
Redman is a great professor! He reminded me of my DE Composition teacher from high school. He's very funny even when he isn't trying to be and he knows his stuff. He's a pretty easy grader & gives great feedback on papers. The journal entries are easy & the stories are interesting to read & discuss! Contribute your thoughts in the discussions too!
Mr. Redman was awesome! So hilarious in his lectures, definitely an easy grader! IF you need to take a GRW class, take his, it's so worth it....Also, he helped me become a better writer!
Makes you call him "Instructor" Redman. Realllllly funny guy. Makes you think. But..he can be really really REALLY confusing... Helpful, will stay after class...but doesn't tell you exactly what he wants fixed. He's a nice guy though, overall, good teacher.
He's a pretty good professor! You learn a lot about cloudless sulphur butterflies...
Redman is an awesome instructor. He goes in depth on criticizing papers to help students. He takes late papers but with a lower letter grade. He has rough drafts that are only 750 words, he reads then writes on bb suggestions for the longer paper which is 1000 words. He is very helpful and has made my writing skills improve immensely. Take him!
He was a pretty nice guy, often rude and very sardonic and unapologetic. You must must do his papers exactly the way he tells you to, or you will not get a good grade. I took him over the summer, and did not enjoy this course. I felt the topics were too basic and there could have been better ways to teach this course.
Bad teacher. His instructions are very confusing and subjective. Show more importance to a student attendance rather than teaching them what they need to know. I do not recommend for this instructor for anybody. Also for his papers he explains how he wants it done but never show example until the day it is due, half of the class fail.
Lectures are super boring. Wears flannels all the time and has a wicked beard. He's very unclear about his papers but expects them to be written exactly how he wants. Overall, an easy class if you put the time in, and somehow understand what he's asking.
His handwriting doesn't help when he returns your papers. He's pretty tough, but if you need help he will help you. He makes you put on a play at the end of the semester so be prepared. If you don't like plays, don't take the class.
He is one of the worst English instructors at FAU. I highly suggest to not take him. His grading his harsh and he is extremely boring. He makes the subject extremely hard for no reason. Find a different professor and save yourself !
You have to work for a good grade in this class. If you need help, he will show you exactly what you need to do to get an A paper. There are about 56 300-500 word papers and 2 1000+ word papers. At the end of the semester you'll have to perform a scene of one of the plays you'll read. He's funny and very sarcastic at times. I'll take him again!
For the post below, it's supposed to say 5 to 6 300-500 word papers, not 56! Also, if you miss more than 4 classes you fail the course.
Redman is a tough grader. He is there to help his students though and you progressively become a better writer throughout the semester. Also if you ask for help he will give you great feedback. I totally recommend him to anyone who is taking ENC110102. Be prepared to work though! I managed to pass with a D+ : )
I am currently taking his class online. It is a course you need to put effort into. Basically, just stay on top of your assignments and their due dates and he wants wants you to show effort and try to participate in the discussion. He is a hard grader, I put EVERYTHING into some of my posts and still end up with high B or low A.
Redman was super chill and as clear as day about EXACTLY what he wanted in his papers. Beware, because of this, he can be a tough grader. But trust me, it's not even close to as difficult as it may seem. I took him last summer and had 2 papers due every week. I followed his paper layouts and got 93 on my first paper. Great instructor.
The worst professor I've had in college so far. His notes never say much, however I always stay around the C+ and B- range for assignments. He isn't very clear and an EXTREMELY hard grader. Find someone else because you're going to hate this class with him as the teacher.
He helps you become a better writer! A lot of people come into college not really knowing how to put together a decent paragraph let alone know how to write a great essay. If you get a good team for peer review, follow his writing structure, and REALLY USES his comments you will become a better writer! He gives you the grades you deserve.
Terrible professor!! Doesn't give clear directions of what he wants and when you think you've done a fantastic paper and turn it in it's pretty much not what he wanted. Super vague and boring.. Highly regret taking this class and definitely don't recommend anyone to take LIT2010 with him!
Great professor! Ive learned more in this class about writing than ever before. Just like with any other class, the grade you get is the one you deserve!
AMAZING! so much fun and hilarious. the stories are interesting and our time discussing our journals was my favorite part of class. go to class you won't regret it.
Professor Redman was one of my favorite professors. He tells you exactly how he wants his papers, and if you follow his keys outline you will be definitely get an A. I liked him because he treated us like college students should be treated, and made us work for our grades. He's the "check the syllabus" type of professor.
Instructor Redman gives all students his "Keys" for success in the first class, essentially explaining how he wants the papers to be written. As long as your papers follow the topic outlined by the prompt and "Keys" and you actually put in some effort, it is not a difficult class to do well in.
Redman helped me become a better writer, everyone should take his classes. He's trained me to have a successful writing career here at FAU.
I took his class online and it was honestly worth it. Redman is a good professor and although he is a a tough grader, he really helps you become a better writer. You have work due weekly (blog posts, discussion posts etc.) and 3 essays total. As long as you put work into it and use his feedback, you can get a good grade.
took this in the summer thinking it was 12 weeks but was actually a 6 week course. so much writing in such little time, he is an amazing and hilarious professor though so i would recommend in a fall or spring semester.
Gives a lot of feedback after assignments, with a side of condescension if expectations aren't met. Seems I couldn't really hit the mark on assignments. Could've benefited from taking class in person rather than online. Can't help but think he puts of an air of arrogance in his written instructions and feedback. Just be prepared to work.
Took a lot of time with his class to manage with an A- (90). Tough grader and unclear on what he wants. Not very helpful either. I wouldn't take his class again. I never spent so much time on a paper just to get a decent grade. Wish i got an A like my other writing courses.
He's a VERY tough grader. He claims he tells you exactly what he wants, but he's still hard to please. Personally i feel he has a set amount of B-/C+ that has to be give out each semester cause that's most what I saw him handing out. MOST IMPORTANTLY DOES NOT GIVE FEEDBACK ON DRAFT ONLY ON THE FINAL PAPER THAT HE GRADES. That makes no sense to me.
Summer has 4 short papers 1rewrite 1 lowest dropped then 2long papers Short enough to read in the amount of time given and long enough to write an essay about I think he is great at teaching how to write one of the best interpretive classes He keeps you entertained but also is good at explaining what he wants
Easy going. Makes the class less boring through humor
Mr. Redman is relaxed but very straightforward, lots of papers that force you to think critically. If you don't like writing don't take this class, this class has the most papers out all the others enc1101 for sure. He is always willing to help out and is reasonable. Just pay attention to what he is asking for in the criteria and you'll do fine.
So confusing. Not good at giving feedback does it AFTER you submit your final paper.... (How does that make any sense???) >:( grades SO HARD!!! If you aren't already a good writer, your gonna fail. If you are a good writer, expect to be seen as decent in his eyes. :)
I do not recommended taking this professor for ENC 1102. He DOESNT give feedback on rough draft papers. He thinks that a peer review can help benefit your essay and thats bs.I did change everything that my peers told me and I got a 76% on the final paper. He is a very tough grader. Overall, dont take him for ENC 1102. Youll regret it.
You do log AND/or discussion posts weekly. There are two essays throughout (with opportunities to redo) as well as two projects at the end. Nothing is overly hard BUT you need to pay attention and complete your work or you will get very behind! Was very understanding during the COVID-19 pandemic so atleast hes nice too! Both online and in-person!
I took this course for the first half of summer so the workload was more but not that bad. Homework assignments every week, an essay, and a final project. He's really nice and gives good feedback on work. His Zooms were okay but I would definitely pick this course for your WAC credit or for an English course. Poetry is the easiest! Take this class!
I consider myself a good writer but Professor Redman gave a lot of good feedback to improve (he also gave high me high B's on m papers, but I never received an A) . Be aware he is the type of professor to never give 100% (and instead 90s) grades even on good submissions because "there is always room to improve." Allows 1 free absence w/ no penalty.
Avoid at all costs unless you have the patience of a saint. Grades like he's an executioner and refers all questions to his endless zoom recordings, gives unclear feedback, & takes points off peer reviews if you don't meet his overly specific criteria, which never helped. Grim reaper with an ego, run for the hills.
-If you show up to class and clearly read and follow the grading criteria then you will do well -Very funny and takes the time to get to know each student -100% would take a class with this professor again -allows one free absence with no penalty -late work not accepted -allows one free extension without official documentation
Attendance is mandatory, giving you one free absence. Make sure to read deadlines because he gives a lot of tedious work. He cares more about your improvement as a writer rather than a perfect essay. He tends to stall class time a lot, so if you're an introvert I don't suggest you take him. He encourages participation and talks off-topic a lot.
As long as you go to class and just flat out do the papers you will be fine. You will have normally a paper a week. Rough Draft and then Final Draft. Peer Reviews give lots of points. If you miss class he takes 10% off each time on a test grade. About every other week he won't have class and he will let you do the work at home.
Super funny guy, likes to talk a lot and go down random rabbit holes. Makes the effort to get to know students and interact with everyone. The work is not easy but far from hard. Put the effort into your writing and reach out to him for feedback. Participate during the discussions, you should get an A. Took him a couple semesters ago and miss it.
professor redman is a very chill and down to earth guy. none of the assignments in this class were hard. as long as you don't procrastinate on the papers you'll be fine since he assigns them weeks in advance. his feedback isn't very helpful but i never got below a B+ on an assignment.
