This teacher gives NO hws, all lecture. He kinda throw out a quiz once in awhile, but if you go to class and take notes,you'll do fine in the class. His lectures are interesting, so you wont be bored in the class.He's a very passionate teacher,he really want students to learn something from his clas

very easy. he gives you a review sheet with all of the question on the test and he even goes over it in class. i scored perfect A (100%) on all of the exams and homeworks. so easy. he is also very nice, however he soes not seem intelligent in the way he talk or should i say the terms that he uses

Probably one of my favorite teachers that I have had at sacramento state. I got a B in his class but it was awesome.

Easy as heck class, but the guy is a bleeding heart liberal!! That's fine, but he preaches conspiracy theory and the class is a soap box for his own beliefs. I learned hardly ANYTHING about sociology, but was able to strengthen my conservative arguments by his IDIOTIC rants about "the man" It was a waste of my time.

Prof Kiburi is maaad cool! He's really down-to-earth and has so much passion for what he teaches. Any questions, he'll go over it with the class. Fun class!!

This class rocks harder than America, but in this class Kiburi exposes how America really doesnt Rock! He is hella radical and liberal i've been in this class only a few weeks and I've learned a lot about our ****ed up society and that so I think is really cool and the **** who reated him as a bad teacher. Is probably **** and stupid, shut up and appreciate his different perspective!

He is the most inspirtational professor that I have ever had. For the person who rated him poorly, I'm sorry that you had to be the ignorant, blind, brainwashed, bimbo to take him class and not appreciate his words of wisdom. Great class. Refreshing to say the least. The class is not hard at all! If you come in with an open mind and be willing to come in with an opinion, regadless if you share it witht Kiburi or not, there should be no reason not to get an A. No homework, sometimes he wants you to do 1-2pg internet searches on different subjects but mostly exams

Prof Kiburi is one of the most fun, likable and interesting teachers I have had in my life! I would recomend him to anyone regardless of of your major or political views. I am personally a conservative republican/capitalist and enjoyed his lectures and films even though I disagreed with most of the content. The class was very easy and stress-free!

This class was great. No need to take notes, he gives a great study guide. Memorize the crazy chart he gives you early. I bombed the first test and got an A. Speak out, no matter what your opinion and you will gain his respect.

This class fulfilled my intensive writing requirement. The prof. gives really easy & INTERESTING writing assinments. It didn't feel like an English class at all. He lets you write about your own opinions. He is passionate about this subject and therefore gives good lectures and shows great films in class. I highly recommended his class.

WOW, is all i have to say! He seems intimidating, LOUD and strict but thats just his approach to getting his students to think outside the box! He really openned up my eyes to the world around me. I would suggest taking his class! Heads up his midterm can be a bit shocking so use the study guide.. because it is the test!

Great teacher. I went in thinking he would rip the white students up, but found the exact opposite to be true. He only cares that you have an open mind and are willing to share your opinions. He demands a lot, but gives a lot in return. I learned a lot in his class and have a new appreciation for Ethnic studies and issues.

I have taken this teacher twice. Love this guy. This teacher really opened my eyes to the world around me. Very intelligent. He tries to add as many students as he can to educate the young generation of the corruption of our government in the past, present and future. He is also a pretty attractive guy, if he was about 20 years younger I'd holla.

Interesting class and a good professor overall. Kiburi is funny, too. He's enthusiastic about the subject matter and shows some interesting documentaries to boot. Topics range from the WTO to US intervention in Panama to racism in the deep South. A many sided and intelligent prof.

Professor Kiburi is very passionate about the subject matter. Highly recommended for a WI class. We were required to write four papers, some only one or two-pages. One mid-term exam (essay questions) and the final consisted of a four-page paper which he tells you about from day one and more essay style questions exam.

The only professor I had last semester that spoke English without an accent. He's stives for class participation and encourages attending regularly. As a WI class there were only 4 papers, in various lengths. Midterm was essay questions and he gave you a study guide. The final also essay questions, and 4-page personal history paper. Easy class!

Wow! If you want to really learn something about and ethnicity, predjudice, stereotypes,and your part in the subject matter take it from Prof. Kiburi. You'll never be bored, the homework is minimal, the tests are tough but make sense ,my all-time favorite class and his course should be required for anyone working with other people. A++

kiburi is passionate about his job. i highly recommend participation in class. very few papers. down to earth and easy to talk to after class. he can relate to some of his students' lives because he's been there. if you disrepect him he WILL call you out on it. overall i liked his class

It's been about 3 years since I took this class and I still remember this instructor very well. He is one of the most interesting and thought provoking professor's on campus and really makes you think critically about what you know...or at least what you think you know. Great WI class, highly recommend. Just keep an open mind and participate

wow prof kiburi is a great prof! he really made the class think and makes you feel his energy. he's funny and tells it like it is. however he never makes you feel belittled. his final was pretty long and a little hard but it was a take-home. he def uses his textbook but didnt use the reading book. i worked hard in this class and it was worth it.

This is a cool guy! He has opened my eyes! I would take more classes from him. Use the study guide. And you can ask him for help on it. I got an A on the midterm because we asked for help.

Very loud and expressive professor. He's a political activist and loves to get everyone involved in his class and discussions. He's Very good professor because he sparked my interests and I'm a biology major, so I'm not used to his pace of teaching or type of material.

Really really funny teacher. He loves the conversation of ethnicity, whether it's African related or Asian related etc. Great teacher to talk to. Very Loud Guy and he knows what he's talking about.

Professor Kiburi is a very enthusiastic professor. He's very opinionated and isn't afraid to speak his mind. But,He is very friendly. His lectures are very interesting, because it's more of an engaging discussion rather than a sit down and copy notes kind of class. And his class isn't difficult.I recommend taking his class.

I took ETHN100, and thought it was a hard class b/c it's a writing intensive class. However, it turned out a very easy A class. If you do the assignment and do well on the exams, you'll get an A for sure. He gives you the exam before hand so you can prepare the answers for it. I only had 3 papers and 2 exams. They were super easy! Take this class!

Professor Kiburi is straight up AMAZING!! He tells you ahead of time what is expected and a VERY VERY fair and lenient teacher. Would definitely take him again. A very cool guy as well. Don't ask to leave his class early though, that's the only thing. He doesn't like you getting up and leaving and expects you to respect the time he is teaching.

Great professor! He has so much passion and his lectures are really good. theres one paper about ur family history which u get an automatic A for if you do it and theres 2 exams. He gives you the test questions in advance so you can prepare. Super easy class and it really opens your eyes to new ways of looking at things! Take this professor!

I took Prof Kiburi my 1st year- he's the best! His lectures interesting. About 6 hwks simple/interesting to do. Easy midterm, final test+chart, and an essay. Just don't sleep in class-that's rude. He may ask questions about previous lecture so if you want to look smart - review your notes and answer him. He may look mean but he's nice.

At first I was intimidated by this professor, I was even considering dropping his class, but I was too lazy to go through the process. Professor Kiburi is seriously passionate about his subject. There's not a lot of work in the class just show up and build a relationship with him. He will call you out in class if he has to but its not always bad.

Prof Kiburi is an engaging lecturer. Passionate about sociology/ethnic studies. He expects participation and will call on people randomly. Be prepared and read textbook. Hes flexible, easy grader, caring and wants students to succeed. I learned a lot in his class. Note: He is not a fan of cell phones and will call you out if you are late.

He is an amazing man, and his lectures are very emotional and informative. BUT he never gave us a syllabus, and he is not on SacCT so I have no idea what is going on?

Kiburi is facsinating. His lectures feel more like intriguing conversations. It's true, he does call you out if you're late or use your phone, but in a joking manner, he's never really mad. I haven't had a single homework assignment yet, but there is a midterm (easy) and a four page essay due on the very last day of class. Definitely recommend.

He's an amazing professor!It opened my eyes and my mind to "whys" and "how did this become" type of questions of how American culture treats other ethnic groups, and he gives you a brief glimpse into how America reacts.I recommend Dr. Kiburi for those who want to lift the vail and be more aware and knowledgeable of other ethnic groups.

He was really interesting. He doesn't take attendance on daily, no homework, no textbook used, no presentations only a few assignments less than 3 pages all only one Location Paper but easy. Makes you really think about what kind of word we live in today and funny mostly interesting always. Would recommend a lot to anyone.

Highly recommend this professor. VERY intimidating at first because he is very wise, straightforward and will call you out if you're disrespectful (sleeping, on your phone etc). Changed the way I view many things in life, including myself. Assignments/requirements aren't very straightforward but are easy and if you have trouble just talk to him!

Ethnic Studies major who was fortunate to have him for Ethn 11 when I transferred. He is phenomenal and upon reflection one of the best, honest, knowledgeable and fearless professors teaching in both Ethnic Studies and on the CSUS campus. He is a very inspirational teacher. He only talks real talk! There are only two exams, that he gives all the answers to if you attend class. He likes the class to be responsive. There will be a 4 page paper called "Social Location Paper" that you will have to write and turn in on the last day of instruction (ENTIRE SEMESTER TO DO). I loved him!

Only 1 midterm test, 1 final test and a 4 page Social Location Paper. He doesn't have a Blackboard so you never know what your grade is. Don't buy the book at first, you might not end up needing it. Overall, great professor. He can be harsh at times so be prepared to get called out. If you participate and create conversation he will appreciate it!

The professor was passionate about what he taught. He was also funny, open-minded, and inspirational. The lectures were also engaging and I looked forward coming to class all the time. It is important to be attentive during his lectures. The homework is light and the tests are easy. Just be sure to do your part in reading and take lecture notes.

GREAT professor, I sat in the back because he only pays attention to the people in the first three rows, but if you got something to say be sure to take what hes got to say back. This semester he had us make groups for a power point then a 4 page paper. This class was SUPER EASY!!! A few easy papers and a midterm. Dont really have to show up

Amazing professor. Funny and makes the lectures, interesting and enlightening. Had 1 midterm that didn't count towards our final grade just a self assessment. A 4 page paper that was given at the beginning of the semester and due the last day of class and the final was a group presentaation. Very few hw assignments which were easy. Overall great!

3 short research papers (1.5 pgs), 1 midterm (he gives all Qs + As in class), 1 final, + 4-pg. Social Location paper (3 months given to write). Enlightening lectures that dig deeper than the obvious. You'll learn something new no matter how "woke" you are. Very low stress + mostly lectures + creating conversation in class. Doesn't take attendance.

Very great Professor. Gets you informed on all the ills of society. Allows you to ask questions and participate. Few tests and no homework, few minor internet searches and papers. definitely do the work and participate and you will pass.

By far the best professor Ive had! Hes honestly so funny and inspirational that you wont even want to skip his class. He gives a midterm which is super easy cause he tells you exactly what will be on there, same with the exam. You have a four page paper due at the end of the semester, which is straight forward and easy.

He is an incredible professor, I have learned a lot from him. He is very respectful to the students around him, he would treat everyone equally. He gave a mid-term and a final. Incredibly easy, just make sure to attend class and take notes. Those notes will help you with your exams. Great Professor, I have taken so far.

This was an easy A class as long as you come to class and take notes. You need to participate in order to get a good grade and communicate with him. 1 4 page paper due at end of the semester which was very easy, and other small research assignments that were not collected just discussed in class. Do the work and participate and you're fine!!

If you have the chance, please take him. He is so real and intelligent, really need more professors like him. He is a rare professor so do take him with an open mind. The only thing Id critique him on is lack of structure in class also you do not know what your grade is. But id still take this class again!!

Enjoyed this class he really awakened my consciousness. He only required one book , we watched the movie Sankofa and mainly had discussions. The mid term was on the book and a few other things discussed in class. We had a few 2 page papers on things we discussed in class, final paper and lastly a final. He is an exceptional Professor. Best at CSUS.

Professor Kiburi is not your ordinary professor. He's a conflict theorist and speaks his mind. If you're a sensitive person that doesnt like to participate in class. He is not the professor for you. But if you dont mind a little participation and have respect for all cultures and ethnicities, then you're in for very entertaining lectures.

People dont realize how rare of a professor he is. I promise you will come out of the class with a better understanding of yourself and the world around you. A lot of neoliberal professors at sac state you have to deal with their ish but Professor Kiburi keeps it real. Even calls out sac state and how they squeeze students pockets. No propaganda!

Super invested into his material. Make sure you participate when you take his class because he wants everyone to actually be involved.
