He's unclear, especially about the grading, which he does by percentile, not percent. You're in direct competition with the other students and your grade depends on how well they do in the class. He doesn't know how to properly work with percentiles.
He is easy as long as you read the book. 14 quizzes, 2 tests, 5 hw, project, final. He drops either the total grade of all quizzes or 1 test score. He gives comments on the hw so you can edit the errors and have a good grade on the final project....
Very easy class. Funny teacher. Attend class and review notes and you will get at least a B.
cool guy, just need to review notes before the test and u'll get a B. easy grader
good teacher
I would take him again, go to class do the work guranted B, should have smily face
will recommend others to take him... getting an A during summer session (5 weeks) says it all..
Somewhat easy, lots of work though. You have to read power point notes (very helpful) and then read the book. Grades based on quizes, test, & project. Also class grade is relative to how eveyroen else does, you're competing with eveyrone else.
Not only is Kent a great instructor, but he's also a great guy that'll make you probably think of him almost as much a friend as a teacher. Grades very fairly and is easy to approach for help.
He is a great professor. He knows the subject very well. He keeps the class lively and very interactive. Gives many practical examples during teaching. His handouts save you a lot of time having to read through lot of redundant stuff in book.
THE BEST!!! Cool, a lot of work with quiz and assignments, but cool grader... Just study the class notes.
He is the best. Straight forward, curves grades, and teaching style is GREAT!!!! Reasonable professor and looks after his students. Trys not to make everything due at the same time as other classes for exams and flex on project due dates.
This teacher is a nice guy. One of the things I found amusing was that he likes to wobble his head alot while he's teaching in front of class. Take this class and watch his head shake it like a polaroid picture!
He's easy. Not a bad class.
you'll get a B for sure, but you accually hafta study for his M/C tests... oh ya, he always talks about how his vacation on the weekends is going to Fry's. He's funny cuz the way he talks is funny too,and the dude below is right, his head does wobble :)
Great teacher. Easy to understand and explains everything to make sure we know what we need to know. Flexible due dates are nice. Exams and quizes are managable if you just pay attention to lecture.
This was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken! Got an 'A' just by reading his study guide and showing up for class. He is very approachable, helpful, & lenient w/ due dates. Hint: make note of his quiz questions cuz you'll see alot of them on Final.
Kent is always calm, approachable, very friendly, and very educated. Tests were straightforward from the notes but it was still a lil tough. (All multiple choice) Weekly quizzes which ewre okay. Assignments were graded hard though. Got a B+.
Great teacher. I wish he taught more MIS classes. The head wobble thing. I never really took note of it until I read that guys review. LOL.
he is a very nice and understanding professor. but, his teaching style isn't interesting. he grades the projects very hard. need to read the textbook very throughly to do good on the tests. don't just skim the book.. overall, an OK professor
EXCELLENT PROF!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. HE IS THE BEST SJSU HAS TO OFFER!! VERY HELPFUL, GIVES GOOD GRADES AND SHOWS CARE & CONCERN FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE ATTENDING CLASS & TURN IN ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME. QUIZZES ARE VERY EASY, JUST READ THE SUMMARY OF THE BOOK! THE BEST PROF--I OWE PROF WEBB MY THAN
This professor is the coolest/smart surfer dude with 4 degrees from an Ivy League school. If i ever hear anyone complaning about him, i'm going to personally kick their asses. He's an extremely nice guy and wants EVERYONE to pass his class. He talks like one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles too!
Cool Teacher! Flexible due dates are nice. Midterms are not too bad if you just study the chapters a little bit. Easy to get the grade you want! Take him!
Can't say enough about this teacher - Afraid if your cellphone will go off in his class??? No problem! He will make a joke out of it and continue with the lecture. AWESOME professor - EXTREMELY flexible due dates. You are CRAZY if you dont take him!
He is a good teacher. The lectures are boring b/c this is an intro to telecom class so all you do is remember the things in the book instead of doing it. I do find the project to be interesting and fun...only thing that kept me alive in there =)
Nice guy, cool teacher. You have plenty of chances to get the grade you want. There's a quiz at every class mtg, 3 midterms, a somewhat comp. final and a solo or group project which sounds like a lot, but is not bad.
Wobble, wobble, his head bounces... funny guy
very instructor.one of the best MIS professors.he's up there with burkhard.if you have a chance, take him cause you wont regret it.very clear, very helpful, and always willing to help students.lenient on deadlines-understands students problems and needs.thats what makes him a cool professor.
It's hard NOT to get an A in this class. Very easy prof, easy material. Gotta love this prof. If you need to curve your grade, B260 with Prof. Webb is the course to take.
Come to class, study his notes, easy A if you put in the time & effort. No surprises. Very helpful inside & outside of class.
Easy class if you study his notes and do all the homework. Prof is very nice, but don't expect to abuse his niceness. Got a quirky sense of humor, which is cool.
Very easy, knowledgeble professor. Very lazy though. He leaves the 4hr class in 2-3 hours. Don't expect to learn a lot, but you will learn whatever you learnt in detail. The material was very light. He didn't cover lot of material that he could have covered if he had taken full 4hrs teaching responsibility. Exams are easy. He gives a model paper.
He is the nicest professor. He's always willing to help, understands students' problems, not strict about deadlines. Quizzes every week, 2 midterms, one final, one group project, 5 labs. The best mis teacher SJSU has. Highly recommend!!!
Nice teacher, lectures are pointless, runs through the Power Point presentations without giving explanations. If you read the chapters, study the slides, you’ll do fine on the exams/quizzes. Labs and group presentation are easy.
Prof Webb is so rad this subject is boring beyond recognition but this guy's lectures are entertaining. he tells this funny story about slangin' computer memory back in the day when 1gig was unheard of. hilarious
Professor Webb is extremely helpful. He is patient enough to go through the material as many times as needed. My brother took an undergrad decision sciences class and found the material to be overly complicated and as a result hated the subject. I took a similar class with Professor Webb at a graduate level and loved it. He is the best!
Prof. Webb is fantastic. Funny. Helpful. MBA from Wharton School of Business. Very intelligent. Very very very co-operative. I wish I had all my professors like him.
Professor Kent Webb is a very friendly and knowledgable professor. He gives out clear guideline so there are no surprise in the class. There are 1 mid-term, 1 final and 1 project. His class is definitely recommended!
Good professor, cares about student and knows very well in his field of study. He's a very interesting professor, sometimes talking not-so-funny jokes, which is very funny. Very well organized in lecture schedule. Pleasure to have his class.
Teacher has some funny jokes at times and then sometimes not. Overall, class was pretty easy. Labs are done in class to prepare students for the big Access project. Don't need the book because everything is on the slides on his website. Quizzes are mostly vocabulary and passable. 80%+ is an A in his class.
I really had a lot of fun attending this class. Very relaxing and relatively easy. Just make sure you do all the assignments, you should be able to get an A!
This teacher is really hard to follow. He skiped around and glossed over everything. The course was really useful if you're into forecasting, etc. The teacher was very knowledgeable but lacked clarity. He was a very nice, funny person. Dispite my frustration, I got a good grade in the class :)
Easy class. Never used book. All PPT slides are online... He really just read off of the slides more than he actually taught but he drops either all of your quizzes or one of your tests. I NEVER studied for the quizzes and just crammed before the tests, got an A in the class. Easy peasy.
Very helpful & easy. 2 Projects: MS access & internet projects. He grades very fairly. His exams are easy. All answers come from the study guide. Textbook is not needed. Everything is online.
He teaches with examples. Teaches you the theory and how to use it. He's generous with grading and homework. He is always willing to help. This is a midterm, final and project type of class. Midterm is easy, its literally the homework with different numbers, the Final is harder, so study every detail he gives you including the concepts.
This class was one of the more boring and hardest classes I have ever taken. His lectures are just off power points and so boring... He expects everyone to be MIS majors so his tests are hard and challenging. He can be funny but i would not recommend him or take his class again.
He is an easy, funny teacher. the material is really dry. His test is doable, but you need to memorize all the terms on the slides which will take up a lot of your RAM. I got 85% on all the exams and projects and finally got an A. All 188 instructors are very easy. No matter who you take, you'll be fine. Good luck
I'm not a big fan of stats classes, but I'm glad Webb taught this course. Some of the content takes some time to sink in, but he is more than willing to help students in class or in office hours. We had HW, but it's only worth 5%. Majority of grade is MT, Project & Final. He definitely curves grades at the end of the semester. Great guy
Sure, he is a friendly guy, but a HORRIBLE teacher. Very bad at explaining the material and not helpful. Everyone in the class fails all the quizzes/tests. If you want to talk about deers all day take this class. YOU WERE WARNED
If you're not an MIS major I suggest taking him to get this class out of the way. It is a breeze. Show up and get at least a B. Study a little and get an A. Exams aren't difficult just basic questions on key terms from chapters. He's also a nice guy very approachable for assistance.
No book, the material is relatively hard, but he covers it well w/o a book. Study for the quizzes, if you know how to do that, the tests are almost the exact same questions. He's very fair, but he curves, grading's a little weird. He's very knowledgeable, but you need to follow the examples. All math, little to no essays/ writing problems.
Do not buy the ebook. It does not help a whole lot. He uploads the PowerPoint slides anyways. Studying for this class is redundant since its all terms, concepts, and how a software works. He grades on a curve, so as long as you study a little and do all the needed work, you will end up with at least a B or better.
Excellent teacher. Practical applications included how to use Microsoft Access and build an internet page. I was glad to have an online textbook that only cost $10, plus a free copy of Access.
An interesting class with lot of use of computers such as learning to use Microsoft Access and making a page on the internet. He was always available through email and had a lot of content online using Google sites that we all learned how to use. Fair grading, exams and quizzes curved.
He's a fun/funny prof and is super laid back. Everything he covers in the lectures are on the tests, he has a group project and quiz every week and they're really easy to get good grades on. Highly recommend him for a fun/easy professor.
very easy, a short quiz and group assignment every class. (for a one day a week class). The tests are curved. highly recommend
Everyone in this class fails the quizzes/tests but he curves the midterms. Powerpoints for each chapter are hard to understand and he can't explain them well. Not helpful at all when explaining group projects. Won't give out exam questions for reference for the final even though he knows everyone is just going to fail. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL
Nicest professor you will meet. Class is easy and laid back, group projects are extremely easy and chill, takes like 10 to 15 mins tops to finish the projects. 3 Mid terms and 1 Final exam (all multiple choice). Curves the tests well ;), drops the lowest quiz. Highly recommend taking his class.
He is the nicest, sweetest, and a quirky professor who makes passing an easy path. He hugely curves but you do have to attend every class to do the group projects and weekly quizzes. It sounds a lot but the projects and quizzes are easy. The textbook is rarely used because the exams are off the quizzes and power points. Highly recommended!
He is a good teacher. He gives lots of real world examples that are informative and funny. He tells you everything you need to prepare for the exams, but there is a lot of information. If you ask for help, he will help you. Group projects make it easy to meet other students in the class if you are introverted. Weekly quizzes make exams easier.
Definitely need to read the book if you are looking for an A. I learned a lot in this class and I think everyone who lives in the Silicon Valley should take an MIS course. Great teacher. Exams are moderately difficult so need to read the book and attend lectures. Three midterms one cumulative final and quizzes every class. Take him :)
Easy class. Heavily curved, a 78% A- Salesforce project isn't hard it's just time consuming. Weekly group projects and quizzes (easy). Reviews chapter in class before quizzes. 3 midterms, 1 final (cumulative). But easy because it was all vocab, no concepts. Pretty lenient in terms of lateness, he accepts late assignments. Overall nice guy.
Easy A. Heavily curved class. Don't need to study or prepare much for class. Show up for exams and quizzes.
Easy course as he curves super generously; anything above 70 was A-! This is an important class for business majors and I wish he would include more substance in his material. Overall, easy and good. 10 quizzes, 10 group class projects, 4 individual projects, 4 exams. I got an A- and hardly worked at it. I would take him, attend class.
Lectures are a bit slow but he does attempt to make it a fun environment. One project that could be done in a day or two. Quiz every class, but easy. Usually lectures on the topic of the quiz, then quiz is handed out. 3 midterms and one final. Easy A
The lectures are boring and not interesting. The ebook he uses isn't very good and does not prepare you for his exams resulting in making the exams difficult. It is not a hard class because he curves it but the curve varies and depends If your peers score high on the exams or not. 3 midterms, 1 quiz every week, 1 project, and 1 final.
Quiz and group project every class and a Salesforce project (super easy). Don't need the $10 book. All you need is the glossary which you can see online for free. Memorize terms and you'll do fine on all the quizzes and tests. He also curves! I ended up with 72%, but that was considered a B. Boring lecture, nice teacher. Can pass easily!Take him!!
Each class session consists of a chapter quiz and some mini group work. Class grade consists of three exams and a non-cumulative final (all of which are 50 multiple choice questions). There is also a salesforce project, but that is easily doable. Class curve was ridiculous (78% was an A, 69% was a B). Has a lot of insightful knowledge to offer.
Taking his course 1X/week atm. Textbook($10) isn't needed, but good info about MIS; used glossary & searched up terms. Clear lectures w/ pwrpts, weekly quiz in class after lecture, 3 Salesforce labs (1 includes paying $20), 2 group prjcts, 2 exams & 1 final (noncumulative)-50 MC-curves exams. Insightful & I'm learning a lot about MIS :)
OMG! I was sitting on the first row and was laughing like a horse all semester long :) He has a lot of stories to share, and has a great sense of humor. The topic itself is hard and boring (to me) but he makes boring stuff sound interesting. As mentioned by others curves heavily, so most likely you will get a desired grade :)
The class is okay, but easy to fall asleep in. Lectures are pretty boring unless you understand his humor. He acts like the class is easy and makes it seem like the tests are simple, but they aren't. It doesn't matter how hard you study for the exams, you'll still be disappointed with your grade. Take someone else.
He makes it seem like the class is very easy on the first day. In reality, the quizzes are at the end of class about the material that he just "taught." He is not helpful outside of class. Through email, he is very short and during office hours not useful and uncompassionate. The whole class is on memorizing terms. Take someone else if you can!
Nice professor but giving a quiz every class on the chapter that he just taught isn't the best way to teach students, almost every person in the class is not doing well on those quizzes. His exams are very difficult and he makes questions tricky on purpose. Almost half the class failed the first exam. No study guide, cheat sheets, or extra credit.
2 exams (curved), 1 individual project,2 in class group projects, a quiz every class drops the lowest one, and final exam. Group projects were easy and you get so much class time don't have to meet up. Individual project easy too, tests are all terms. Quizzes are based on lecture, so listen and you'll do fine. Chill class and nice teacher!
The prof has lots of experience with tech firms in the Valley and provides lots of good insight. Exams are heavily curved, so grades are adjusted and very fair. Good project learning to use Salesforce. Lots of videos in class to keep the material current. Two group projects learning how to use Google sites that don't require meetings outside class
If you miss a class, you miss a quiz. Lectures can be long, but he really wants everyone to pass. He is approachable for help. He listens to feedback on test and quizzes and will adjust the future material accordingly.
He curves quizzes and exams by class average. Easy A with the curve. No assignments this semester except the salesforce lab. Weekly quizzes at the beginning of the class about last week's lecture.
15-minute quiz with 25 questions and 30-minute test with 50 questions. Quiz and test are very difficult. Good Luck.
To pass this class you need to review the chapter slides and videos on Canvas and take notes. Your grades are based on the weekly quizzes, midterms, and Salesforce projects. His lectures are not mandatory but its useful if youre there because you can get a lot of great information.
Professor Webb is a very nice professor! No textbook needed. His quizzes and exams are open-book, open-notes. He offers many extra credits. 3 exams (50 questions each) in total, and 1 quiz each week. The lowest quiz is dropped. Salesforce tasks are easy, and you can get full credits if you are careful to follow the pamphlet. Highly-recommend!
Prof Kent is great. His lectures are pretty long but nothing too hard to handle. 25 questions, 30 minutes quiz every week but they are open book. He gave opportunities for extra credit, and grade was always up to date on Canvas. Overall, if you study the keywords you're good to go. Received an A without attending all the lectures.
His online classes are well structured, organized, and easy to use. Sounds like a radio show host, but classes were not mandatory. Very accommodating and understanding, overall an easy-going professor. Salesforce software for homework, 9 quizzes, and 3 exams (including final). No lockdown browser or textbooks.
He is a caring and nice prof. Weekly quizzes, 3 salesforce projects (follow the instruction, then you will be okay!), 2 midterms, and a final. It sounds overwhelming, but quizzes & exams are open books (no Lockdown browser), and you can find some answers from Google. Also, he gives you the extra credit opportunity to boost your grades. Take him!
Professor Webb is great. There were weekly quizzes and three 50-question exams, but the exam and quizzes were open book with no lockdown browser, which is good. There are salesforce projects, but they are easy to do as long as you follow the instructions.
