He is really awesome and make tons of theories approachable. Very clear organization, great discussion and sapid lecture happen in this class. Highly recommend.

This guy is very funny and is a very good teacher. If he was teaching another class that I could take next semester, I'd do it. If you haven't taken Soc 1013, you should take from him.

Cool prof! Down to earth, and definitely knows his stuff. Extremely smart. Pretty easy, lectures are interesting, you don't have to show up everyday, but it'll affect your grade after awhile. His tests are hard, but they're take home. Put forth the work and you have an A!

he's a nice guy who got his phd. from yale. he is very smart and it shows in lecture. lectures are not boring. he helps curve every test because some people struggle. if you read the book you will have no problem with an A.

Dr. Acevedo has a made a difficult class 100x easier with his lectures. He made this class very easy to understand. He also considers participation and attendance as part of the grade, which is a good thing. Totally recomend him.

Acevedo is a great great prof! He really explains the info in a way that you can understand! You need to know you info well. You have to be able to apply what you've learned to the test. What helps the MOST are the quizes! LOTS of pop quizes! They're not bad, be sure to come to class and the quized will really boost your grade up! Loved his class!!

Man, this guy is funny.Always making wise cracks & funny remarks.He makes the learning easy and full of humor. He gives reviews for the exams and usually ends up curving the grades b/c kids do bad on them(cuz of not going to class).Doesn't care if you go to class but does give pop quizzes that can't be made up and can make or break ur grade.

Acevedo was an AWSOME prof!!! I was not looking forward to this class before I took it but I really enjoyed it! I thought he did a great job at explaining different situations. His tests are not like most I was used to. He really makes you think...but that's not a bad think. I really like sociology a lot more not that I took this class.

Prof Acevedo is hot as hell, really good lectures becuase they are very informing and he throws in a few good laughs through his good sense of humor and intellegence within the field he is teaching. For at least a B in the class, you should attend it everyday. Why wouldn't you come, he's great eye candy:)

He's great! He really helps you understand the stuff, make sure to go to class and you can probably get by without reading. He also gives a great review before the test, also, he gives pop quizzes for attendance, they can reallllllly help your grade.

Good teacher, makes a rather dull subject fun. Teaches the basics pretty quickly. If Sociology is your major you might want to stick with him as long as you can.

ABSOLUTE BEST PROFESSOR AT UTSA!! I had him for Cont Soc Theory and Soc Movements and I loved both. He does give a lot of reading but he explains everything really well and makes you want to come to class. If you're going to take any type of SOC class take it with him!! He does give pop quizzes for attendance which can really help your grade.

All time favorite. If you need to take sociology, take him without a doubt. He's hilarious, edgy, good-looking, easy, and flexible. He gives quizzes but gives you the answers because he appreciates your attendance. His tests are easy. He always gives informative reviews right before. All lectures contain powerpoints and hilarious stories.

Gabe is a super cool teacher. He has a PhD from Yale and knows his stuff. He requires attendance and gives pop quizzes at the end of class to get people who leave early but his lectures are pretty funny. He gives great review sheets for exams and I would def. take him again. You dont need the book or to read and there are no writing assignments!

AMAZING PROFESSOR!He makes the most dry material, exciting! This is class is truly a college course and he doesn't baby his students but is fair in his expectations. Attendance is mandatory, he gives random pop quizes (which he gives the answers for) and it could really hurt/help your grade. He had about 4 required text books, as long as you go to class you DON'T need them! His humor can be a bit provocative at times but he's really funny. Tests are easy. Overall class is easy A!

Great class, made contemporary sociological theories very interesting and funny- this is coming from a CJ major! Class is mandatory because he gives pop quizzes but they are not hard...trust me. The test on the other hand are not a walk in the park but if you study and take good notes, you'll be fine.

I took Gabe for Theory, and I have been trying to get another class with him since then. He is AMAZING! I have not had another professor like Gabe. Very blunt, cusses a LOT, in his words. "Were not here to make fun of anyone where here to make fun of everyone." If you get the chance take him!

This professor really inspired me to change my major to sociology. He usually doesn't teach lower-level courses but he did such a good job. There was never a dull-moment in my class, especially on halloween, and I really learned a lot of material that I can take with me for the rest of my life. I would recommend him to everybody!!

Awesome prof. Has colorful lang so if you're easily offended don't take him. Tests easy, came straight from his lectures. Didn't ever use txtbook cuz I attended everyday. Attd not mandatory but gives pop quizzes (he gives us the answers lol) so just show up. Make sure to take really good notes, I'd recommend a recorder.

I never thought learning about Marx, Weber, Montesquieu, Dirkheim or any of those other dead white guys could be enjoyable until I took Dr. Acevedo's class. He's definitely in the top 3 professors I like most at UTSA. Class isn't hard, just pay attention and you'll do fine.

Took religion and society over the summer. Super awesome professor and made the class very interesting considering i'm a bio major. Had 5 test, 50 questions each, and only put info that he went over in class on the test. Cusses a lot but its perfect because his attitude makes teaching religion less sensitive.

Mr. Gabe is great! He makes the class fun. Very engaged with students. Exams have 1-3 hard questions, everything else is covered in class. He gives curves and has random pop quizzes that are easy!

Prof. Gabe is awesome! He doesn't care if you skip classes at all, the only problem is there are pop-quizzes you could be missing if you skip. The pop quizzes are super easy, and the tests aren't bad if you study. It's an interesting class and good discussion. I learned a lot. Don't take him if you can't stand cussing or sarcastic humor. haha

I love this professor. He is very clear at the beginning of class that you do not have to show up in order to pass. However the pop quizzes he gives out can only be taken if you show up to class. While you do not need to show up to get an A, showing up can push a letter grade up if you are hanging. Love his speaking and is very entertaining.

Prof Acevedo, is a "G", the man knows his stuff. Every class is like a TEDTalk, but interesting. I've taken him twice already and I have no regrets. I highly recommend Dr. A, his lectures are never dull and make total sense. Now mind you, it's not for the easily offended, he keeps it real every step of the way. Respect

He's honestly really helpful. This class requires a lot of reading and there's 2 assignments that are really easy to do. Not to mention that he sends out reminders that the deadlines are coming up. So there's plently of times where you'll get reminded to do your assignments in case you forget. It's honestly an Easy A.
