He speaks english but his accent is very strong, I only gather every other word he says.... I find myself going WHAT????? ALOT! Language barrier here. Most of my class has an F rightnow it's only midterms too. I have a D.
DO NOT TAKE..Can't speak English, takes off points no matter what, told me not to worry about my grade, no one fails his class- I failed. ( most of my class failed too)
This guy is terrible.I advise dont take him
Actually, biology class is very hard. Although he has very strong accents, he is funny and provides reviews before exams. Those reviews are very helpful for the exam. I am taking him right now, and so far I am getting A. Anyway, you have to study this subject no matter who is the prof, because the exam is designed by the department.
Biology is very hard and in his class, it requires a lot of reading, reviewing the quizzes & powerpoints...by doing all that you should do well in class.
He can not speak English to well but as long as you do the quizzes and use your book you should do fine!
Does not speak comprehensable english. Flies through material. If you do not have a good bit of prior knowledge on the subject this would be a bad choice of professor.
Regardless of what the ratings might say, Mr. Alluko is an excellent teacher. I would imagine his poor ratings stem from uneducated students who failed his course and are trying to vent their shortcomings onto him. Throughout the course he would offer many opportunities to make up missed points on exams. That, to me, is a win.
I enjoyed this class not many biology professors will take the time to give you quizzes to assist with your grade.
MR.ALUKO AND MANY OTHER TEACHER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SPEAK ENGLISH VERY CLEARLY BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO ABOUT HIS TEACHING ABILITY IS VERY GOOD MAYBE SOME OF YOU GUYS ASK QUESTIONS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND HIM AND NOT TRYING TO IMPRESS THE PEOPLE IN YOUR CLASS.
Dr. Aluko is always incredibly enthusiastic about what he's teaching. It's great to have a smiling, upbeat professor; it makes me look forward to class. His energy and the way he uses examples (as well as encouraging good questions) have helped me signifigantly motivationally as well as with my comprehension and learning. A+!
Awesome, you may not understand or like biology when you enter the classroom but mr.aluko teaching style is different and helpful. Takes his time and go over each chapter. Quizzes are given to help your grade in the process so you have a chance to pass. he is a wonderful teacher and he takes the time to do a study guide not many still do.
I took professor Aluko for Biology Lab and I thought the class was kind of hard. It was chaotic and he graded our labs really tough. I followed all his guidelines and never missed a lab but still barely made a B. He is really bubbly and nice but he never answers emails.
Somewhat difficult to understand but sticks to the coreiculum and posts the PowerPoints he uses in class to blackboard. Overall his class was pretty easy.
Although most people cant understand him. You can easily pass his class just by doing the lab reports, he loves giving deductions on them, but over all he's pretty easy...he gives the students many chances to turn in their work.
He is a great teacher. He is very helpful if want help. He does his lectures off of his slides so i suggest that you print them out and write the notes on them. I mostly used the book for mastering biology, and mastering biology helps with his quizzes. He gives them after every chapter. But great teacher!!!!
Just do the quizzes. Study them and you will pass every test with flying colors!! :)
His class was pretty easy. His exam questions come straight from the quizzes for the most part, but he does not provide a study guide which is kind of difficult. It is hard to understand him as he doesn't speak good english but as the sememster went on it became easier. He's very laid back and lets you submit work late. He grades hard.
Needs to learn how to speak good english.
Does not speak English clearly. If you don't go home & re-teach yourself then it is hard to learn the material. I dropped class b/c my grade was so low. Not recommended.
He was ok, I wish I would have dropped when I wanted to. I have a D and was like 2 points from a C. Now I have a D on my transcript which will hurt my gpa
Test are easy if you study but the mastering biology is what got me a B in the class. He is hard to understand and he goes pretty fast with his lectures. You must study in this class to make a B or A.
i took him for the lab of 101.for the most part he was easy. he is very understanding.he uses the book alot but he praticaly gives you the answers. the lab report is the only thing he is tough on gradeing on
Dr. Aluko is an amazing teacher. He makes learning fun. All notes go on blackboard, he gives great examples to help you remember. He also, puts questions on the projector for you to answer; everyone has a clicker they answer with. It makes it fun like a game show. Awesome class. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone.
One of the greatest I have made in my student life. A man that uses his parental experiences to nurture students. He treated me as a father would treat a son. I will take his course any time.
Great teacher!
Very awesome professor. Hard to understand at first but you will get used to it. He is very helpful and will do anything to help anyone. His test are super easy they come from the slides he goes over the notes with. If you go to class and pay attention no way you will fail.
I actually hd Mr.Aluko for BIO101 as well.On my first day of class,I was like as soon as I get out I will drop this class. However, I stayed in it and stuck with it.Mr.Aluko turned out to be the best teacher ever.If you do his quizzes and pay attention to the slide shows in class, you will pass!He uses a lot of real-world examples to teach!
Hard to understand, cant spell or read. he Lost my project at the beginning of the semester, and my grade hasnt been right since. I told him where i placed it and he said that he never received it. I even made effort to make another one, and he still didnt accept it. this is the only class i needed to passs to grad and he screwed it.Not reccommending
He was the worst teacher I have ever had. You will not be able to understand a single word he says and will end up having to teach yourself. Also one fourth of your grade is based on online quizzes based on your text book, not made by him. One thing I must say is he is very enthusiastic about his job. But never take him
Horrible lab teacher! He is very hard to understand and expects you to know the material at his level. Does not explain the information well. EXTREMELY HARD GRADER! Lab reports are only worth 10 points but expepts a lot of effort in the work. I do not advise any one to take him unless your willing to do all the work on your own.
Biology is a hard class to pass in general. If you want easy classes, then maybe you should change your major. That being said, Dr. Aluko was a great person and a good teacher. Dr. Aluko uses powerpoints and plays some kind of game during each class. His tests were not too hard as long as you studied your material.
Great Instructor. Dr. Aluko is concerned with his students success but the student must want to be successful. If you take notes and pay attention to the slides you will do well because that is the test material. The Clickers are an awesome tool they make learning fun.
Amazing teacher. Anyone complaing simply didn't keep up with the workload (it is high). Super intelligent, kind, and respectful to students. He is stern on grading but fair. If you READ the book, do your homework - AND STUDY you WILL pass his class. The most important thing is to take notes, they will come in handy even though he posts all on BB.
Nicest teacher I've ever had. He's very well informed of the subject matter and explains it the best he can and if you have questions he is more than happy to answer. I'm not very good at biology so I thought that his tests are somewhat difficult so make sure if biology is tough for you that you study a lot!
He is the best teacher in the department. He uses powerpoint for all of his lectures. If you want to do well in his class make sure to participate in class and do all assignments online (on launchpad). If you respect him and make a point to let him see that you're interested in learning it will be a fun interesting course.
He was an awesome teacher because he actually cared about his students. Lazy students would give him bad reviews but hard working and average students enjoyed his class! You actually LEARN!
I liked him. he knows he stuff.
Honestly he wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't so all over the place. He's very scattered and just doesn't make sense a lot of the time, and his accent doesn't help any. A friendly guy, not the most helpful all the time but he'll at least listen to you then explain why he can't.
He is terrible. He expects you to know what is going on in his head and is very sneaky with his assignments. He is very very confusing. He is terrible with launchpad and creates online assignments and due dates at the last minute and doesn't even tell you about them and then fusses when you are confused about it.
If you do the assignments online, write down questions he discusses, and show up, it's an easy B! It's also an easy A if you put a little more effort. As for Mr. Aluko, he is a great guy who tries to make the class interesting. The lectures are a bit hard to follow if you don't like science.
I like Aluko as a person. His accent made me think that I would never be able to pass the class, but just read and do your homework and you should be okay. I am not into Science so I find the whole class to be boring, but it is what it is, I need the class.
I like Dr. Aluko. What I do not like is Biology. Infact, I despise it. Study the study guides, because its almost a spitting image of the exams, and do the learning curves (which are looonnng ) and the end of chapter quizzes online. You should walk out with a low A.
His class was largely uneventful. All the homework is done on LaunchPad and the tests are all multiple choice. Nobody should have a problem passing.
Dr. Aluko was a really good teacher. He is a very hard grader though, if you didnt write an answer word for word how he described it in class, you wont be getting all your points. He tends to be helpful though and will let you know how to improve.
Good professor. Wants everyone to get an A. Usually gives good study guides that tell almost exactly what the quiz will have. Two projects a year, 1 is group. You will need to ask for specifics about the project, because he doesn't always clarify exactly what he's looking for. Ask for his grading rubric. Talk to him, he wants you to succeed.
Teaching style is all lecture and no further explanations if you're confused about something. He reads straight from the book/powerpoint. If you take him, be prepared to take notes quickly because he doesn't wait very long. There are questions every few slides and WRITE EVERY ONE OF THEM DOWN, it'll most likely be on the test.
Really good teacher. He gives study guides that make it impossible to fail the tests. The only downside is that he is from Nigeria and has a thick accent. Hard to understand, but he is very enthusiastic and willing to help his students.
The easiest way to pass his class is go to class, make sure you know the study guides he give you ,lots of the question on study guide is on the test. Make sure you pay attention in class.
You have to go to class, his class is all lecture and he moves very fast. He give you a study guide and there are question that he asked on power point. Study both and you will pass. I will take again only because I know how he operates, other than that I would not take again, he also gives lots of pop quizzes.
Very hard grader and not open to discussion. He's always right no matter what is brought to his attention.
Take Dr. Aluko. He is a great & friendly instructor who makes biology interesting & easy to understand. Easy class. To pass, you need to come to class because he gives participation points. You also need to write down the clicker questions because those are test questions. Read the textbook chapters & do the homework. He gives easy pop quizzes too
Dr. Aluko is a good teacher. Pay attention to the calendar on the syllabus.
(Bullet points to save space) -does not seem like he knows material -reads straight off the slides -slides are not detailed but the tests are -have to google most of information to understand it -gives 10 point pop quizzes -does not put in grades quickly -cannot work canvas -super hard homeworks that are only worth 5 points NOT WORTH IT
This is a Good Professor, he knows his material! He does give pop quizzes but it is on the material that he went over! He gives a study guide but the test did not reflect the study guide. This semester he had problems with online home work not showing up on canvas. You will have to read your book and study your notes for this course.
I took Mr. Aluko for 101, so I decided to take him for 102, he is passionate about what he teaches. I had a problem with his test this semester, only a few things of what I study from his material and notes taken was on the test. And when I asked him about it, he would tell you to get the book and read it also. I would not take him again.
Mr. Aluko is not that great of a teacher. He tries to make class interesting but its not. He does not have a good grading scale and does not know how to work Canvas.
The pre-labs are fill in the blank and are VERY difficult to find the answers to. He is not computer smart so he makes a lot of mistakes but will fix anything he has made a mistake on. Also likes to be right in ALL situations. If you participate in your group and get people that want to succeed and help each other then you will pass.
He is extremely vague. His assignments are consistently posted last minute and he refuses to answer questions- "Just check Canvas." ... Except 90% of the time most definitely is not on Canvas. Easily offended when approached about grading or assignments. Study guides provided only covers 60% of the test admitted by Prof. Aluko. Tests are impossible
Professor Aluko was the WORST professor I have ever taken at BRCC. He does not care about helping you succeed and all he does is ramble in his lectures. He does not talk about one topic and explain it, he goes through an ENTIRE CHAPTER in one class. All he does is go through the powerpoint and have "clicker questions". DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT AN A!
Hes a very sweet man but not that great of a teacher. Hes very unorganized and you wont know whats going on half of the time. Hes very hard to understand. Not impossible to pass but you should probably pick someone else.
STOP!!! Do not take his class!!! He is an aweful teacher. Very unorganized, does not show up to class sometimes and will not use canvas for important information. He does not answer emails and will get flip at the mouth when you ask him questions. I thought he will be an good teacher but I was wrong. BRCC made a mistake hiring him.
A bit challenging bio class. Just make an effort you will pass. FYI two projects. Individual Project about Plant Cell. Group Project about diseases YOU WILL NOT GAIN 100% on his projects
2 projects: 1. Individual Project Brochure on Diversity 2. Group Project tri fold an organ system. You need JESUS to pass this class. It seems easy but hmmmm babeeeeeee!
Sets clear criteria for passing. Do online assignments (posted at beginning of year. You do early.) He hands out clickers & you answer ?s during lectures for class participation. (Not checked for correctness). Pop quizzes are easy to pad your grade. Even Jesus wont make an A on a project. Gives study guide before tests. You can make a B if u work
Very hard to understand and he's all over the place. Good luck figuring out what homework to turn in because he doesnt give you the same answer twice. I wouldnt take his class
Very hard to understand as his English isn't very good. Every class is a full hour & 15 min. of lecture. Tests were also very difficult. I've never made such low grades on material I thought I knew pretty well. I didn't want to have to take this class again but I just couldn't take it anymore so I withdrew after the 3rd exam.
Clicker questions makes the chapter
Doesn't teach. Just lectures. Test are difficult.
Absolutely. Terrible. Extremely inconsistent, rude when asked questions, mumbles and scribbles when he tries to explain things. Powerpoints don't cover test material so get comfy with searching Quizlet. Pretty regularly late, very tough and slow grader, rarely issues study guides. He's also the only Bio Lab teacher on campus- so good luck.
I did not enjoy this class at all. He has broken English which makes him difficult to understand and discus with. You cannot turn anything in in person, he wont take it. Also the weekly homework is worth A LOT of points ( I was unaware of this) which brought my grade to what it is. I would advise against anyone taking his class.
By far one of the worst professors I have ever had at brcc! All though I did make an A in the class he definitely makes you work HARD for it! You will teach yourself EVERYTHING and don't think about asking a question because he get angry! He's rude and ALWAYS late to class. Even forgot about our class the day of the midterm! He's the WORST!!
He is hard to understand and he will give you anxiety attacks before class
Read the textbook because his tests do not come from his slides.
Does not know how to operate an online class. I had to remind professor Aluko to post several assignments on the class website. It is not my job to remind the professor how to do their job. Do not take this man for an online class.
He does not stick to his syllabus schedule. He will change due dates. We had assignments due on Thanksgiving. He changed the way our grades were weighted 2 weeks before the semester ended. Study guides are 15-22 pages long. His grading criteria is all over the place. He does NOT respond to emails. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR BIOL1013.
Horrible teacher, hard to understand, Homework is on average 10-20 pages long worth only 10 points. Make sure to do all homework if u do take this professor. Would never recommend. Never tells you what is on tests. U have to figure it out for yourself. Every test is proctored. Never responds to emails. And not clear on instructions.
Worst professor Ive ever taken. No idea how Aluko is still teaching. He does not let anyone get a 100% on homework. Does not explain the grades he gives even when you ask. When contacting him to solve a problem it seems as if he has no idea what he is talking about. He will drop your grade without reasoning if you contact him too often!!
WORST online professor. emailed him 3+ times to add lectures/tests/etc to Canvas. Never replies to emails. Refuses to give 100% on homework but wont respond or is snarky when asked why. Puts quizzes online LATE then blames class for not taking it by its due date. youre teaching yourself & the homework pages are SO LONG only to never make a 10/10
We needed to complete assignments through LaunchPad and Canvas. I received over 100% on LaunchPad from completing the mandatory assignments and the extra credit. The study guides on Canvas for each chapter were very time consuming and the grading was very tough. PowerPoints were available and the tests were fair if you studied the PowerPoints.
Professor Gabriel Aluko grades like his life depends on a C average. When Gabriel Aluko found out what Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v do on a keyboard he knew being a teacher was for him as all of his mounds of homework was already made for him. find another professor if you can but the class is passable if nothing else. #frickgabe
This class was the worst I've ever taken at BRCC. Professor Aluko does not communicate anything about assignments or due dates. Every class he lectures and will put you to sleep, but towards the end of the year he has no plan. He is very hard to understand, and most the time you will have to ask a question multiple times for him to understand.
Wouldn't recommend him to anyone. It was an easy class, but he doesn't care about you or your grade. Even when you email him, he will not reply or he will give you a smart comment. You can't even understand him during his lectures. Always late to class too. The amount of quizzes he gave was awful too.
If you have trouble with not having a consistent schedule, random assignment release dates, random due dates, and an instructor who is non-responsive via email, do not take him.
If you're an organized person, I wouldn't recommend him. He post his assignments randomly and sometimes will post them 2 hours before they're due. When emailing him, he either doesn't answer, or he is very rude. If you are concerned about your grade he doesn't care and don't even try to email him, he will lower it.
Do NOT take this professor, you will be ran through the ringer. He is unfair and not consistent when giving tests and quizzes, nor does he respond to emails and questions. And if your schedule doesn't align with what he wants, good luck. I wouldn't waste my money taking a class with him ever again!!
He does not speak very good English and reads off the slides given. Very difficult to reach outside and inside class due to the lack of clear English. The homework isn't difficult just a lot of it and it is proctored. If you are able to teach yourself and self motivated then take the class.
English pronunciation is very poor. Not his fault, but takes away from the purpose of a lecture. All he does is reads the slides, again taking away from the point of a lecture. When he was asked to elaborate on a subject he often did not understand and would ramble off something unrelated, followed by an awkward silence. Smart guy, terrible prof.
This is the worst instructor I've ever had. He is habitually late to class, so expect your time to be wasted daily. He only reads a powerpoint slideshow verbatim, so expect to teach yourself the material that he is paid to teach. Also, never ask a question, regardless if you are serious about learning or not! You will be belittled publicly for it.
Do not take his classes! Absolutely a waste of time. Does not give you second chances on really anything. You cannot understand him at all. He just reads off PowerPoint slides and then sometimes just cancels class just because, but then you have so much work to do online. He doesnt slow down and the help is awful!
Would not take again. I did not like his classes. Could not understand him one bit. Not very friendly. So much of his stuff was proctered and did not like him. He gave out so much work and he was so hard to reach
He's not great at lectures, but there is a participation grade so try to answer him when he asks questions. Rely on the slides and the textbook when it comes to studying because he's just reading off of the slides. I don't find him to be as rude and terrible, he is a nice person. He does assign homework at weird times which is annoying.
