Cool guy, makes class relatively enjoyable and has a sense of humor. There are many writing assignments but as long as you keep on top of them you should do fine, not turning them in can really hurt your grade. You actually effectively learn grammar with this teacher.

Mr. A is a great teacher. He has enthusiasm and humor that makes his classroom a wonderful place. I haven't met a student yet who didn't love him. He is tough, but he is the best Eng. teacher I've ever had. He really makes sure that you understand what he is teaching. I would definitely take him again.

He's funny, makes sure everybody knows what to do and just enjoyable. I get a little worried about what he is going to assign for hw sometimes though. I'm afraid of it being hard but so far nothing horrible or ridiculous.

Mr. A is an AWESOME teacher. He makes the class fun and informative. He's extremely helpful with checking your paper so you can revise it before you turn it in. He does insist you read and write about it, but he is HANDS DOWN the best English teacher at Ventura College. Take his class, you won't be sorry!

He's the best teacher I've ever had. Honestly! I had a hard time writing any kind of paper before I took this class, and came out of it with an A. As long as you are willing to work, he'll help you. He's blunt and to the point and will not coddle you in any way! An excellent professor for an entry level course because his teaching style will prepare you for the rest of your education!

Gabe is very funny. If he really likes a class, he'll take out his glass eye for you and let you look in the whole. He is also a great singer, especially Judy Garland songs. If people are talking or falling asleep, that's how he gets them back on track. Unusual but worth the trip.

I learned a lot from him. I used to dread his class because writing was not my forte but eventually, I became more comfortable with my writing skills thanks to him. He gives very few homeworks but make sure to do it. You won't pass the class unless you do the work. His essays aren't always easy but he'll try to help everyone as much as possible.

I took V01A and V01 B with him. He taught me how to REALLY write an essay. My favorite English teacher by far. You need to focus and put in effort. He's REALLY helpful when you ask him for it. He teaches his students how to write a good essay in his first class and then applies it in the second course. We read good books too.

Arquilevich is easily one of the greatest teachers I've had the pleasure of having. He really takes his job as an instructor seriously, and is one snarky son of a ****. Great sense of humor, great books, and a great help. The guy deserves better than Ventura College.

BEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER! I've taken two classes with him and he's excellent. He makes funny jokes. You have to write a lot, obviously because he teaches English but if you ask, he is always there to help you make your papers better. The reading assignments are interesting too. Best teacher I've ever had. Super fun. Can take a joke as well as dole them out. Fair grader. Only 2 essays. Used the books a lot but he made sure to keep it super cheap. You can get away with spending less than $30 on all three books he requies combined. Overall amazing! Great guy. Cares about his students.

This guy is one of the best teachers at VC by far. He is a really smart guy who has a great sense of humor; he may offend you but that's only if you don't know how to take a joke. He's like a ex-skater/musician kinda dude. He's hilarious. The material covered in the class is very interesting too. Very fun class. Take it, you won't regret it!

Mr.A is really good at what he does. He is willing to work with you and help you. He is so funny and down to earth. Its good not to miss any class time because you learn a lot in one day. When he grades your papers he puts a bunch of comments and helps you figure out your mistakes.

Prof. Arquilevich, is a wonderful teacher. Being a writing class there is plenty of writing (essays). Prof. Arquilevich has plenty of office hours to help hie students he is very friendly, yet professional. I would love to take another course by Prof. "A" he is a excellent instructor that cares about his students.

Mr. Arquilevich is entertaining to listen too and wants his students to come up with meaningful questions and analysis to literary texts. In this class, there were a few different units consisting of short stories, theater, poetry, and a novel. Expect to do homework in between most every class.

Mr. A's class is the best ever! Lots of interesting reading including short stories, drama, poetry, and a novel. Homework and class discussions everyday, but he'll never force you to talk. He's hilarious and is really helpful when it comes to writing essays and understanding the reading :)

Super good teacher! Not only does he teach you a lot but he also makes the class very enjoyable. He's a bit of a jokester so expect to laugh a lot throughout the class, although if you get offended easily this isn't the class for you. There is 3 textbooks required & you definitely need them but they come out to less than $20.

Yes he is a tough grader as he says in the beginning, but not really. Reading is key in his class. Doing many Reading Journals easy should take about 30 minutes max. Poems... loves so many poems!! Makes us do about three 'RJ's' every class. But honestly even though he makes you work for the grade you will not want to skip class b/c he is hilarious.

He likes to give out a lot of assignments but they are not difficult. If you want a cool professor and an amazing experience in his class and do not mind a little bit of work take him. But if you want a boring professor who does not give out work and is not fun don't chose him because he will always make your day but dont eat in his class!

I was skeptical to take this English class considering I had a bad experience with another teacher. Let me just say he made my experience in this class amazing. Mr. A is a great instructor hes there to help you and gives feedback when necessary. You do have to work for your grade which is fair and he has very interesting topics to write about.

Mr. A is a great inspirational instructor highly recommenced at VC. I've taken Eng V03 and V02 with Mr. A his lectures are great and he has office hours I really would suggest overall I'll gladly take V01B when the time come with him. He's seriously a clown but knows his stuff as long as you are willing to learn and improve.

I was dreading taking English again because it's not my favorite subject but he was hilarious made the class very fun to be in. Get ready to read because he assigns reading journals every class. I've had Mr. A for ENG3 and ENG 2 now 1B. And I'll say he's still a clown, who's writing I could never read, In fact I don't even think he can. I'll miss this instructor and one I'll never forget who has been there with me through the thick & thin in English. If you get the chance to take any class with this professor, do it. I cannot stress enough how amazing he is. The way he teaches makes you love the subject just as much as he does. He is obviously extremely passionate which makes learning easy and fun. I would honestly take 10 more classes with him just for fun. So open-minded and intelligent.

I don't ever do ratings on here but dang, take this professor. I had him Fall 2017 and I still often think about the things I learned in his class and how clearly passionate he is about the subject. I texted (a little) and ate in his class and he would call me out for it every time but he STILL wrote me a letter of rec. 12/10.

If you have the chance to take a class with this man in person, DO IT! Hes amazingly charismatic & beyond funny. I actually look forward to coming to school for his class alone. The class Im taking is online integrated so we mostly submit HW online. Turn things in on time & read the short stories, its quite easy if you do the reading.

Professor Arquilevich genuinely cares about the success of his students. The classroom atmosphere was always pleasant, and he made it a point to get to know everyone. You will have to read, but he works hard to make sure you understand and can relate to the readings. Take him if you want an approachable, insightful professor, with a dash of humor.

Despite still commanding the respect of a professor, Arquilevich feels more like a friend. He always brought a positive light into the classroom and made sure everyone felt supported and welcomed. He does give a lot of assignments and is a tough grader, but he's approachable and willing to help the students who need a little extra guidance.

I have never rated a professor before but Professor A definitely deserves one. He is an extremely understanding professor who is obviously very passionate about the subject he teaches. He only required a few books which were fairly inexpensive. If you have the opportunity to take a class by him do it! He genuinely does care about his students.

Absolutely loved taking English with Prof A, you can tell he is passionate about the readings and really cares about teaching. He is also easily accessible if you email him. He does require deep analysis for assignments but grades based on effort rather than correctness. Also jokes a lot during lecture so he creates a comfortable environment for us

Arquilevich is a great professor. He's a very funny guy and always tries to make sure his students understand what he is teaching. He does require a lot of reading but his work is not too hard. He is also a fair grader. I would definitely suggest taking him.

The professor made skype and in-person meetings fun. He cracks a lot of jokes. You're expected to participate in discussions, so he might call you out if you're quiet. Instead of textbooks, there's reading handouts leading up to an essay to help build your thesis. He gives good, constructive feedback on your work, but takes points off if it's late.

Super hilarious teacher and just a solid dude. Made English interesting for me as someone who never enjoyed it. Most assignments are based off reading but not too hard. Definitely can be challenging for some, but show up every class and do the assignments and it'll be a breeze.

The best class I have ever taken! Gabe is an incredible teacher and made subjects I previously found uninteresting, fascinating. I used to not be a big talker in class, yet I was always compelled to share my thoughts in this class. You are never required to talk, but he makes an incredibly safe space. I've never laughed more in a morning class!

Prof. A was definitely one of my favorite teachers of all time up until this current semester. In general he is constantly trying to engage with the students and making reaches to pull them back to life. I recommend going completely in person if there is an online option because that is where he excels. a few essays but lots of office hours!

Prof. Arquilevich was great this fall 2024 semester for English V01B. This was my first English class at college as I took AP Lang in high school to bypass V01A. Prof. Arquilevich helped my classmates and I make the transition to college-level study. He is fair and a good grader. Get ready to read and analyze, and participate in class discussions.

Super nice, super funny professor. Only a few essays and quizzes. Mostly short written assignments based on the readings. If you stay up to date with your assignments and reading it's super easy to do well.

Prof. A is a passionate and engaging instructor. While assignments require deep analysis, he grades based on effort rather than correctness. The lectures are lively, and using unstuck study alongside the readings can really help with study prep.

Professor Gabriel is great, easy work and readings. Quizzes are often but nothing too crazy and gives partial points. Would definitely take him again if needed, easy to get along and willing to help. Him being funny and understanding are defiantly a plus that make him a great professor.

Gabriel was awesome lol. He made a funny class, and made sure of taking advantage of all class time. Light work, easy grading, nothing too complicated. I would definitely retake his class. 67

At first I thought Prof Arquilevich was really strange and I didn't know how I felt about his class. But as time went on he grew on me after every class. He is hilarious and very caring and accomodating to all students. Do the work and readings & its an easy A. He really is a weird guy, but I mean that in the best and nicest way possible. Take him!
