Mr. Castro is very helpful and caring but not easy. Lot's of homework, one hour exam, and exam not easy.

Knows what he is talking about, cares a lot about his students, and is always willing to help. But don't expect this to be an easy course; he gives lots of hw and his tests can be difficult sometimes. Overall, a recommended teacher.

extremely good teacher...i used to hate math ...cuz i was horrible but after taking a class with him i realized how good i was in math. took stats with him and it was easy for me, but you definetly have to work for it. Take him if your willing to do work and learn.

An overall good guy and teacher. He is helpful in all aspects. He brought out the best in me. Take his class if you have "issues" with math. I also recommend his finite class which is easy as well. I recommend taking the Finite class then the stats for that extra stats prep.

Listen here, If you're looking for an easy A don't take him. He gives lots of homework and exams will differ from hw. Good at answering questions. Easy on the girls. About 2ft tall. I think he has short man's complex. Very self centered. I would take again. LOL!!!

awsome teacher!! very detailed and works problems out with you rather than making you work them out on the board so you look stupid for not knowing how to do them. Took Precal, taking Trig and hope to take Calculus with him. Best proffesor EVER

If you like speed math great; if you're female, that also helps. Goes so fast in class has patience 4 those good at math and loves to talk about himself. Compares his standards and experience to everyone else. Several of us felt on our own and needed tutors to explain what he should have taught.

This professor is the best professer ever! I like his tests because it makes you think in order to solve the problem. I took trig with him and it was pretty easy! I REALLY RECOMMEND HIM TO YOU! EASY A! He will give you a passing grade if you do some work and study.

I highly recommend this teacher if you really want to learn. He does ask for you to show up for classes, do homework, and participate in class discussions, but it is all worth it. He is extremely patient and eager to explain step-by-step for anyone having difficulties of any kind with math. Anyone can succeed in any level math with this professor.

Great teacher! He tries to act like a hard ass but he really cares about his students...thanks to him my last Stats class at CSULA was a breeze. You have to work hard but it's well worth it. He would stay with me as long as i needed to understand the subject. Great teacher!!!!

Castro is a great teacher. Other students say he's very hard, but that's how Calculus should be. In addition, he challenges us to critically think and makes sure we aren't slacking off by giving quizzes everyday at the end of class. He is also extremely helpful by showing up at school after hours and on weekends to help us.

Fidel is a decent professor. He was a huge jerk the first week I sought help from him. Then I treated him the same way he did with me and he toned his attitude down a bit. This only works if you're a girl though. Sorry guys! His lectures are well paced and exams are fairly easy. Expect quizzes at the end of class everyday. As for hw....TOO MUCH HW!

FYI.. Calculus is hard. every teacher will be "hard". But Castro is very well organized, verbally and on the board. he repeatedly explains things you already should know, just in case. he is always available. he is stearn. he cares. he goes fast, but we had a 10 week summer. arrogant? the dude knows his stuff! i would be a little too!!! take him.

Im sorry i dont know what the majority of these ratings are talking about. he's horrible! hes egotistical and bitter! im not done with the class but thats my rating so far and the class just started. i usually dont acknowledge the "is he hot or not" section but, the majority think hes hot! my answer to that is NOOOOOO! not even close.

I am annoyed by his EGO!! Yes, he knows his stuff but still there is no need to talk down to someone. Also, won't even look at you when you are asking a question. He leaves A LOT of HW.which BTW is extra credit and does not go over it in class. If your cell rings or whatever, ur not allowed to take the next exam and will not pass the class with >C.

He rules his class with an iron fist, going so far as to kick students out of the class if he so much as hears a cell phone go off. He'll make you stay on your toes with his daily quizzes. Despite his bitter shortcomings, he seems to be very competent with the subject and WILL make sure you understand whatever it is you're having trouble with.

Took Algebra 125 online. He knows his math & he's really helpful! He can be tough, but he wants you to understand the concepts. He responded to every email I sent him within hours & I sent A LOT of emails! I wish I would have taken him for Stats.

I am currently still taking his class and he shows passionate patience in finding his 100th monkey.I would gladly pick him as my 1st choice if i could.Best thing is if you really want to learn he is more then willing to teach^_^.oh as for his persona hes really nice once u get to meet him. as for his rules he is just fair and equal with everyone.

I took 115 online and it was ok, he is the only teacher I know that will help you during th exam which is great. His exams are pretty difficult but if you study the green book assignments and the online unit exams you will do good on the in class exams,. he helped me whenever I asked and had alot of patience.. He is strict though, no MAKEUP exams!

Mr. Castro is a young, motivated, passionate teacher who shows interest in his stuents. He is very helpful aslong as you show interst and show that you are trying. He motivates his students to have high expectations. It is alot oh HW and quizes but aslong as you do everything and pay attention you will be ok, he knows how to explain very clear.

He's really clear about his stuff, can be intimidating.. When you ask questions he will answer with full clarity and make sure you understand the material. I took this course 3 times!! This is how bad i am at math. This professor dedicated his time to every single student to make sure they understood. He is very strict and stern but he does it because thats the dedication it takes to do good. He is not the easiest there is alot work.So unless you are serious about taking it an passing it do not bother

Math 115 Spring 2012. Gives A LOT of homework (online). Very strict. Phones must be turned off. If it rings, he will deduct points off your up coming test unless you do some extra work. Aside from that, EXTREMELY helpful. He will explain to you until you understand the problem. No Study guides though before exams. If you study, you will pass.

great teacher, very easy going. the class i took was online which i will never do again with math but as long as you go to the math lab or e-mail him he will help you. do the work and you'll be fine. i had a few low scores on some assignments but since the points add up regardless i still came away with a B.

He is clear about both his work and expectations. Has a good relationship with his students. You can relate to him. He expects hard work and dedication, don't use excuses! He gives plenty of examples in class and makes math understandable. Must do the homework! Strict teacher but also flexible when it comes to eating in class, sharing answers, ect.

Stat's in 5wks? Extremely fast paced! Be prepared to do some major work. Studying is a must; I even put in extra hrs. after class and Sat. just to keep up. He is SUPER clear, can be a bit intimidating, but he is fair. Although this has been by far the toughest class I’ve taken, I would definitely take this instructor again, but at a 16 week pace!

I took his 5 week Winter course,and managed to pass with a B. But was very proud after doing it, he seems intimidating and can come off as a jerk sometimes, but he really pushes students to perform there best. Math isn't an easy subject for most people but he is more than willing to stay after class to help you with any problems you may have.

Very good teacher definitely recommend him!! Tells you from day one what he expects of the class and the amount of work that he will give out. Most of the work is done online so make sure you have access to a computer if you are taking this class(you don't need the textbook). He assigns a lot of work but as long as you do it you will be fine.

As longest he sees that you're trying your best by doing all work assigned, he will pass you. He really dislikes when students don't even try. If you need help, he will actually help you understand math better, unlike other instructors I've had. Overal, He's a great teacher and the best math teacher I've taken at ELAC.

By far, one of the best professors I've had during my studies at ELAC. He truly cares about his students, both in and out of the classroom. Unlike most professors, he teaches you the concepts behind the problem instead of the problem, which helps you solve any problem. He might come off as intimidating in the beginning, but he truly is a nice guy.

Professor Castro is extremely passionate about his students. He also attended Elac before transfering to UCLA so he can be seen as a role model.He teaches extremely well,he might go a bit fast but doesn't mind reviewing if you ask. He does give out a lot of work but hey it's college. He might push you but that is his way of helping you get better.

Homework is a lot, but it's helpful. He is very devoted to his students, and sounds honest to me. Amazing Professor! He is dedicated to his students and is always available to answer your questions. He gives a lot of work but it is very helpful towards tests. Quizzes almost everyday, 4 exams and a final.

Castro is such a dedicated teacher that he will go out of his way to make sure you understand. From day 1 he will give a lot of hw and has high expectations from you, do your work & show you're trying and he will pass you. He truly does motivate you do try your best. He is a great teacher, I am really happy I took his class. There is not one thing I hated about his class. Yes there is alot of homework but it is only so he can see if you are understanding the material. I had to attend everyday because if you missed one day you missed out on alot of work and besides he's really cute.

This class was extremely difficult (I SUCK at math) but, possible to pass with a good grade. I took a certain program that pushes you to learn everything as quickly as possible in less than 8 weeks and gives an auto-spot in Math125. Everything in the online HW IS related to tests just study hard, DON'T miss, & attend tutoring on Fridays.

Professor Castro is extremely clear and thorough with his lectures. He comes off as mean in the beginning but he's actually very laid back and easy to talk to! The tests can be a challenge sometimes but if you ask for help, he'll try his best to explain in depth to help you answer the question. Math lab each week as extra credit!

Took the hybrid class. A lot of hard work. Because class only met once a week for 90 minutes, the teacher was only able to cover the important issues, but he quickly answers emails when there are questions and explains things well.

I was a bit intimidated by him at first, but quickly realized he is awesome and cares about his students. He is not a easy A but you will understand math.

Professor Castro teaches very clearly so we didn't need a textbook. He is always there for you if you have questions. I took 8wk course, and yes, there were so much homework. However, if you take short weeks course, you need to expect more work to be done. So, as long as you finish homework on time and study every week, it is not so difficult!

To be honest hes an amazing professor, i would have more than likely checked all the the criterias except for group work, test not many and get ready to read. His lectures do seem long at first but hes hilarious and makes the lecture fast and easy to understand. He does try to scare you at the start of the semester but hes a softy and cares alot.

I took him for Math125 and Statcs 227 and he is honestly the best. He is very dedicated about teaching and expects a lot from you. He won't take any excuses. You really can't slack off because he gives a lot of work. He might seem hard but if you stick it, you won't regret it. He honestly inspired me.

Great professor! He teaches clearly and it is easy to follow his lectures. Everything that is expected of you is put into the syllabus and put out on the first day of class. Castro made Stats very interesting. He took his time teaching us everything from Ti-84+ calculators to minitab 14. The class has a heavy workload because it's fast paced, but you'll learn a lot and the class is never dull. He fully prepares you for any classes you will need to take in the future. He always keeps to his word. He's my favorite proff.

i always struggled w/math & the only reason why i took his class was cus it worked well with my schedule. i thought this class was goin to be hard cus it was a hybrid(only met once a week)but boy was i wrong. He makes it easy for u to understand the material, + u dont need to buy the book! all hw is online, & its easy! I highly recommend takin him!

Hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. Extremely experienced, strict, but fair. The workload may scare you, but if you've always struggled with math, take his class. Took him for winter session, and in five weeks I understood ALL the concepts of Alg. 2 more than I did from a whole year in high school. Easy A, honestly. Just do your work!

Great teacher can be a little strict at times but as long as you understand your hw you will do fine i took him for math 115 i got an A i also took him for math 125 and got a B. He will help you solve a problem if you ask him. Extra credit is 32 hours of attending the math lab. Check him out you wont regret it! And you DONT NEED A TXT BOOK!!!

Of all my years as a college student, i never had a professor challenge me the way that Castro did. He will push you past your limit and you will learn so much about yourself. The workload is no joke. However, he is always willing to help you figure things out. Taking his class definitely helped shape me up for tougher courses. 100% recommend!

Wow Im amazed of this Professor, He is stricked, tough, and treats everyone equally. Listens, explains, patient enough to show a problem again and again and again. The exams are no joke but you are able to use notes, He encourages Teamwork to compare problems Use It!! Teamwork or grouping is one of the most important thing to do to solve problems.

Professor Castro id the suprvisor for the mathlab and is very helpful. He is knowledgeable and accessible for his students and mathlab students too.

Professor Castro is legit THE best math instructor I've ever had. He's lecture heavy but makes it as fun as he can. He gives you all the material you will need to be successful on any exam and he seems to appreciate when students go to his office for help or even just to say hi. You can tell that he LOVES what he does which is why he's so good!

I took Mr. Castro a few years back but decided to stop by and give future students some insight on him as a professor. By taking him for Math 125 it toughened my mentality to withstand the workload at a university. He was the reason I sucked it up and majored in engineering. Taking him is one of the best decisions I have done in my entire life.

Professors with amazing lectures usually have the best students. The students are later well able to prepare themselves for the next opportunities to be smarter from the benefits from the class.

All I can say is man up this is not for the light hearted, the hardest but most enjoyed class i had the pleasure to take in my elac career. Just make sure to have a printer at home you will literally print a book out. Quiz everyday, extra credit work, 1 midterm one final and if you have an A by the end of the course you dont have to take the final.

I got to say he is literally the BEST math professor I've ever had! once I found him I stuck to him, he explains the material really well and before this I thought I sucked at math... turns out I have never been taught by a professor as great as Castro. He can be quite tough, but trust me he does it cause he sees potential in you!

I signed up for a short term class; It finished with a strong B. I liked how his lectures are accessible to view whenever. Homework was optional, but there are homework quizzes. Lectures were optional as well, and he does problems with students.

Genuinely cares about his students. This course does require a lot of work/time, but he presents the material in a way that is easy to understand (and if you don't understand, ask him, he will break it down until you do). He's quick to answer emails, is available during his office hours and makes lectures accessible. Great math instructor.

He was great at replying emails/canvas messages. He was very clear since the beginning on what we were graded on/ how many points each quiz and tests were. Homework was extra credit. I took this math class in the summer (5 weeks) so of course it was going to be intense! He provided the book chapters and multiple example videos for each chapter.

This is the only class that is keeping me from graduating and from transferring to a university. This class was asynchronous and his lectures were great as far as explaining the material. He uses mathlabXL which was difficult to use when it came to graphing points and lines. High stress gave me high blood pressure. NO JOKE. HW has to be 100% for EC

Great professor!!! The only thing is that you HAVE to be on time to turn in assignments if your 1 min late he won't accept it. Explains the problems clearly and if asked for help he explains it clearly as well . I took the class for the 5 weeks for winter it was fast paced but worth it with the way he teaches.

This professor inspirated me to continue with my math journey even though I struggle a lot with math. Castro is the one to go to for math advice even if you don't pass his final exam don't worry he will give you extra credit and all the other scores are factored in to my math lab. Which the work was easier on my math lab but i 100% recommend him.

This professor was very lenient with the class glad that I passed this class with a "C" Castro is such a kind person and very good math professor. One of the best math professors I had at Elac very doable. He offers extra credit through tutoring . He gives you a lot of opportunities to bring your grade up I couldn't have done with out tutoring

Awesome professor. This was the beginning of my 2nd year and he was most definitely the best professor out of the 15 I've had already. ATTEND CLASS. He is very thorough and urges you to ask questions. Do not be afraid of someone who wants you to succeed(Professor Castro). He has a clear criteria and an open door for those who need help. Good luck!
