Structures his class so he does the least amount of work, and the rest falls back on the student. No update since COVID. Only grades lecture quizzes & 10pg midterm/final. You could have perfect content, but if your paragraph is 1 line short he'll take off major points. Clearly only skims the essays, no real teaching involved. Last resort professor

Wrote 10 page papers and 100% of his feedback is about English grammar and formatting and he gives zero comments about the history subject. I tried to ask for clarification ahead of time and he was very vague, and gave different answers to my classmates about the same questions. Gave me a C for indenting wrong when he said paper content was great.

Took his course over the summer. His quizzes are based off lectures. His quiz answers are all basically right, but one answer is more right. So you have to pay attention. I've never gotten grade so low. Project grading was completely unreasonable. Got a 0 for not using quotes on a quote. (I did) Don't waste your time. Aweful feedback. Wasted summer

Passing this class does not depend on the work put in. He docked points on my final for something I did on my Midterm that he did not dock for. Grading is unpredictable and subjective and not based on the rubric he gives. He grades based on his own rules that he does not make you aware of. He should teach English not history. 0/10 professor.

Prof. Gorman is a good professor. His quizzes are definitely though. Two long 8-10 page papers due throughout the semester. Weekly quizzes. No extra credit available and doesn't offer any option for late work. He's pretty straightforward, his lectures can be kind of dull and boring. You need to listen to about an hour-2 hours of lecture a week.

I really liked this professor but the grading style for me was a big no. He's a really nice teacher and can help with whatever is needed. His class is based on listening to each lecture. His quizzes are 3 questions each and each question is 10 points so out of 30. Taking the quizzes you aren't allowed to go back on the questions you answered.

The lecture videos are outdated but still fairly enjoyable. He grades the midterm and final essays very harshly and gives minimal feedback. The instructions on writing assignments are very vague. The professor is extremely vague with this assignment. I failed the first quiz with a zero because I did not watch all lectures fully (I missed a couple of minutes at the end of two lectures). However, midterms/finals are worse; grades you on his rules, which change anytime. Proceeded to give 0/300 due to the lack of quotes from another textbook.

In theory his teaching and homework style is pretty good - 2 weekly lectures and a quiz at the end of the week testing you on the content. However, this method becomes boring and outright daunting near the end of the semester, and I began to forget the info we were taught at the beginning of the semester. Essays are tedious, but there are only 2.

I'd say professor gorman is an average professor. I took his online course. 2 lectures each week totaling about an hour. Two 10 page essays (3 essays over 10 pages) one for the midterm and one for the final, 2 weeks given for each. It's necessary to take notes in this class. He responded quickly to emails. Videos haven't been updated since 2020

Format of the class makes it so that if you get a single question wrong on one of the weekly quizzes at any point of the semester, it can drastically move your grade (3 questions per week). Quizzes were heavily based on his diction rather than historical content and knowledge itself. Unnecessarily tedious papers, this isn't engl. Don't recommend.

Disagreeable. Unapproachable. For a class that's essentially a summary of the senior year of high school history, this one relies mostly on grades from essays that must meet very particular standards outlined in a two-page rubric. He doesn't seem to care about updating the old, poor-quality lectures. Moreover, the assignments that would make or break your grade are the Midterm and final papers (8-10 pages), both are 300 points each.
