Talks right up until you're suppose to leave. A real strict, by the book professor. A lot of reading, too.
Very strict, lots of reading, requires alot. Teaches good though. but hard class.
he is by far one of the worst teachers I've ever had. His teaching style is very dry and he is so strict. he isn't the most understanding professor, so you can't really miss class. Trust me, run the other way!!!

Explains concepts very well. His test are pretty decent, not to easy, but not to hard. Usually has either a 50 point essay, or 50 point idenitifications (these are giving out before the test = easy). I would reccommend taking him.
He's one of the best professors any student can ever have. A brilliant mind at work with the passion and charisma only few great instructors in this world possess!
my boy is still stuck in Nam, you should duck and cover if you ****him off, other than that hes a good professor....
Excellent professor! Listen, take notes and do the required reading. You'll do fine. He's the best lecturer I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. If you get a chance, definitely take one of his classes. You won't be sorry!
I felt that he didnt lecture at all, all he did was read directly from the book. Gets mad very easily....
a very wonderful teacher.. i don't find him strict at all... he does follow the rules.. because he has high expectations for everyone.. i always enjoy listening to him teach.. for my its like story time.. the tests are decent.. just read and you'll pass
He is a very good teacher. He really knows his stuff, but he is very strict. Don't dare come in late to his class. I took him twice. As long as you do the work you'll pass.
he is an average teacher, can be strict and mean at times. his tests are easy if you take notes and follow syllabus. don't miss more than 2 cuts or you'll be doing extra work. but overall he's not a horrbible guy, but he's not my favorite teacher.
he knows his subject matter and gives you a university level class at community college cost. He expects much because he cares. Loved his class and I'm looking forward to taking more with him.
One of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are very well laid out and easy to understand. He says you have to read the book, but you only have to read it for the essay. I got A's and I just took good notes and studied a couple of hours. I would defenietly recommend him. He is good.
He is one of the best and most inspirational teaching instructor at the college. He's always well-prepared, very fair, and always interesting. From experience, after taking three different courses with him, his classes are always knowledgable and entertaining. He is one of the best professors by far
Very good teacher! Knows his stuff, is very engaging. You need to be on time and not a slacker or you'll out of the game before it's started. He brings a lot to the class by way of personal field study trips and research. He doesn't hand out grades, so be prepared to do your work.
I loved this teacher. He is the most interesting history teacher that I have had in my career of schooling. He kept me interested all class and was very emotional about his topics. His knowledge is unmatched and I would recommend him to anybody who loves history. His tests are easy and his extra assignments are easy only if your a hitroy buff.

I thought he was really interesting. I loved his class and I got an A in it! You have to be willing to study, but the class is really interesting.

Worst teacher in the world!!! he sips on his lil sippy cup...SO ANNOYING!!! very mean... and doesnt give you straight up answers. hard tests. If you fail one you fail the whole class. Dont miss a class unless your dying or in the hospital...and if anyone in your family is dying it doesn't count... HE REALLY SAID THAT. GOOD LUCK!!
Screw this guy... all he does is complain for half the class about how poor he was when he was growing up and how we are all slackers and lazy... He's got a huge chip on his shoulder... I wouldn't take him if i was you...
All he does is read out of the book, and you cannot be one second late for class. All he talks about is Bush and how horrible he is, his opinions on everything and how poor he was. There are only 3 tests the semester and he insults us.
Great teacher who really cares!!!!Those other comments must be from freshmen who are flunking! He is hard, but you learn alot.
worst teacher ever, and i am been in bcc for 3 years and that was the worst professor i had... it just reads from the book and slip on a bottle that look like a baby bottle and it soo annoying. It used to piss the**** of me. If u late a second he yells at you and stuff.
Please..don't listen to the others. He is VERY hard, yes. He is also an extremely intelligent man. This is the problem with Community College, you get "kids" who don't want to learn. he is my motivation for wanting to be a teacher myself. great guy, you will learn alot! ( just do the work and DON'T be late! He WILL excuse absenses.just communicate

Be prepared, he's like a drill sergeant. But he knows his subject, you will learn. he is tough, but in the end you actually learned something. He was worth the work. just be on time for class, take lots of notes and don't be absent alot.
Really knows his subject, and has a love for it. He gives you all the information you need for quizes and tests. Just pay attention and you'll be fine.
This was the worst history teacher I have ever had. Extreamly hard, more than half the class dropped the class. Tests are impossible. For midterm, you had to pay to go to a museum, answer about 40 questions while at the museum, and it takes like 6 hours to do it all, then you have to write a paper on it. I failed the first 2 tests, and got out
This teacher is awesome. He's a genius, and he doesn't stand for any ****. If you want to slack off, obviously you're not going to do well. If you do your work like an adult college student, you will be fine. The tests are easy, but only when you go to class and do some studying. I never got below a 94, and am taking him again next semester.
He really knows his stuff & is the best teacher I've had so far. If you do the reading & the work required, you'll get an A. It was a basic history course & he didn't teach more than what you needed to know. I would take him again without a doubt. He's the perfect example of how a college teacher should be! Slackers beware! ;)
Very intelligent teacher. You'll do fine as long as you study. Depending on how many absences you have, he will allow you to make up for it with a certain amount of extra work. If you answer all the questions on the syllabus & study them, you'll do fine on the tests.
I had Mr. Pereira for Hist 13 and i enjoyed his teaching style so much I waited until he taught Hist 14 to sign up. He expects you to attend, not be late, tells you right up front what he expects. You defintely have to study, be able to answer chapter questions to pass this class and take effective notes and spend time studying or you will fail.
honestly, i think he is just one of those people ( professors) who thinks that we are there for him. he suggest drop outs all the time to people and actually writes it on your failing tests. but if you are serious about history, I stongly recomend his class. just dont screw up because he aint afraid to say see ya later.
im a 4.0 student and this guy is the sole reason im panicing at the moment. AMC is a lot of government and the hardest part is you have no clue what to expect. gives you questions that you should know, but not even a harvard professor could figure them out. If you put george bush, and adolf hitler mix it up a bit, and u got gabe pereira.
ok today was our first test. class started at 9:00 am. he didn't hand out the tests until 10 past. Told us if we wrote any markings on the booklet..he would report us to the dean, and fail us. 2 essays (in depth) and 50 questions on three chapters. personally it felt like a final exam. This guy needs to go. Seriously.!!!!!
The guy's arrogant and rude but if you take notes, attend class, and study a bit you will pass. Grade= 3 tests. If you fail one test you might wanna drop the class. Very easy as long as you're there, pretty much on time, not on your cell and take notes. His conceitedness is sometimes overwhelming but tolerable..
He is the nicest techer. He only gives tests but he gives you all of the questions before hand so all you have to do is study. Plus he is interesting to listen to. Take this course.
At first it seemed that he would be a hard teacher. That wasn't true. He turned out to be very easy. His only problem is that he is too liberal.
I did not like this class. he told us that he was the only taecher that actually prepares us for the "real college courses" & if we did bad on the first 2 tests to just drop the course because we wont pass. but i didnt & i still pulled it off. he was very arrogant and i dont recommend this class.
This man knows his material. He requires that all his students put forth a decent effort
I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. Very arrogant teacher, doesn't agree with anyone. Hard test because he includes his opinions on the test. When he lectures, he mixes his opinions with the facts. If he doesnt like your opinion on the essay questions, he will give you a low grade.
I enjoyed his class a lot, though many of my classmates thought he was too hard. If you studied for the tests it was not a hard class. I didn't use my book and just studied my notes from class.
Favorite teacher, His class was very interesting, his lectures held my attention, and he gives u a study guide with questions similar to the test so just answer the guide questions and boom u passed, and I remember him saying if you can't pass this you probably won't do well and seriously if you can't you fail at life, great teacher!
I think he has to be the worst teacher ever , he is very rude and he doesnt listen to what anyone has to say i really do not recommend anyone to take his class unless u like people who talk to you like you are a lille kid take this class but he needs to be removed and no one should have to take a class wit a teacher like him
This teacher does knows his stuff but I do not think he is a nice teacher. He was rude to my classmates and talked down to us. He has a bad attitude so for that I would not recommend him. However, the class is not bad if you follow the study guides and take good notes.
Excellent Professor. Very knowledgable and brilliant!!A++++++
i had him for a day and dropped his class. he was the rudest teacher ever. He didnt listen to anyone's opinion and told us on the first day we met him that half the class would fail and told us to drop out while we still can. DONT TAKE THIS CLASSS!!
He sucks, he is dry and boring. He goes off on tangents about stuff completely unrelated with the material. He keeps you every single minute of a 4 hour class. He actually called a class mate of mine a**** head in a tirade. Would absolutely not recommend his class to anyone I cared about.
He told me to drop his class so i did and when i went to admissions to drop his class they were like "well who's your teacher maybe we might be able to talk to him" I said "Gabriel Pereira" and their words were! "oh yeah no we will get right on that drop for you!" i think that says something!
This professor seemed to have an attitude that was based on anger and animosity. He encouraged people to drop the class and often went on long politically inspired, rageful tangents. This is a lecture class with pretty much no room for discussion or participation of any kind.
This professor is my father....literally! I have never had him as a teacher but i have sat in on his classes. He is very intelligent and is by far one of the smartest people i know....i am not just saying that either(the guy knows everything) He does however have a reputation for being a hard a** and he is. But as long as you do the freakin work an
I think he is a great teacher. Knows what he is talking about. The class isn't easy, but no college course should be. As long as you do the reading, take notes and actually show up for class you will do just fine. Passionate about what he teaches and politics, his passion makes the class that much more interesting. Would definitely take him again!
To me Mr. Pereira was an excellent teacher. The work presented to you the first day of class, so you know what to expect for the semester. His lectures are awesome, his knowledge of the subject is great. He is also very helpful, do not believe the bad reviews of him. Do the work in the syllabus and you will be fine.
mr. pereira is a great professor, truely sad to see some of the ratings here. his class is very structured and he means business, THE WAY COLLEGE IS. loved the class and taking next section with him as well. a wealth of knowledge, professional, helpful, dont know what else you need. makes it clear what you are responsible for, just do your part.
SAFE YOURSELVES SERIOUSLY!Even if u listen and take notes u still have to do ALL the reading and still only end up barely passing. He so boring and just talks every minute of class and there is no room for ANY class disscusion. He does seem to know alot about history but the way he teaches it doesn't help you learn anything. An ok guy, bad teacher.
Horrible teacher! He knows what hes talking about, but is boring, has NO personality, anger issues, strict, embarressing. His tests dont match his lecture, its all book term in the form of MCAS, when you get it back you only get the answer sheet with no questions so u cant see what u got wrong. He always relates his life to lecture as if we care!
Worst teacher ever. Walks into the class, NEVER smiling, never properly introduced himself. EVERY class he comes in and just starts writing on the board in his own cursive. No matter what i do i cant pass his tests, they are hard. He does give questions to tests for the whole semester, but its still difficult.
Great Class and Great Professor! You will learn many things, as long as you pay attention and actually show up wanting to learn. For all the people with the negative comments, you are most likely the type of students that just don't want to work. You must have forgotten one thing..you are in college now. This isn't High School anymore!Time to Grow Up!
I'm a master's student in Boston now and let me tell you, this guy was one of the best I've had so far. I took 3 of his classes and got to know him well. He is not easy, but it was worth it to me. He made me care about politics for once. He is very smart. I am a sponge for knowledge so I absorbed everything he said. No complaints. I miss the guy.
Professor G. Pereira is one of the best History Professors at BCC.Yes, he may come off as hard A**, but he provides all the information needed to pass his class. I don?t understand how anyone could complain. I have never passed any history class with an A until I took his class. I would defiantly take him again!
He is a great teacher! Very educated and teaches you everything you need to know for tests. Answer the questions on the syllabus and study them, and you will pass with an A. He does at times make rude remarks, but I believe he means well. He will keep you every minute of the class, the textbook is a plus, not essential. If you study, you'll do fine
Great teacher, very knowledgeable! He is strict and expects your attention. He does however hold your attention very well and relates everything to common issues and happening. Definitely recommend him!
Very intelligent man, knows his stuff & expects you to read the text. VERY strict on attendance & being quiet in class. If you interrupt, he WILL call you out & embarrass you. A few classmates did this & got kicked out of class. He seems to have some anger issues, but is an interesting man. Got an A in this class. Study the syllabus, pay attention!
Expects his students to behave like adults, which unfortunately at a community college a lot of people don't. If you're looking for an easy A, don't take his class. No homework or papers, only 3-4 exams, but everything he tests you on is on the syllabus. Strict on attendance. Definitely my favorite professor though by far!
He's a really great teacher. He can complain about the world a lot but, he can also be very funny. As long as you do the questions on the syllabus and pay attention in class you'll definitely do well in his class.
I had Mr Pereira about 10 yo and I wanted to say heis the best teaches I have ever had. Very intersting and on point. For younger students you will appreciate him when your older. I hope he could tech forever.
he does know his history. very boring doesnt give homework and only 4test ur graded on so you fail one your grade drops. better show up for class if not 2 absents hell drop your grade or kck you out very old fashion
EASY CLASS! taking his next course, if you hate note taking dont take his class but there is no final no midterm and 4 tests no homework and if you take good notes read the sylubus and do some book reading EASY grade. great teacher
Will argue about anything, tells way too many stories and never gets through notes. Loves his facts and is a very good teacher for those obsessed with history. For those looking for a simple history class, this is not for you.
Very rude teacher. He's the type of teacher to try and start college protests. Only his views are correct. He gets off track easily, and will call students out to make them look like fools on anything. Had to be escorted out by campus police and his lies he told. There's never homework but his notes don't help on his tests. DO NOT take this class!
This professor is very smart and knowledgable. He is also extremely rude and overly opinionated He will call out any student in front of the entire class and embarrass you. He will question the intelligence of everyone and make a fool out of you. Don't talk or he will call you a cheater and move you across the room. You will regret taking his class
He is so knowledgeable. If you love history then take his class. He is old fashioned. He demands respect. He allows only two absences. His exams can be hard but he gives you a syllabus and study guide. I don't like some of his essays. I really learned a lot in his class though. Well worth the money spent on my education.
Great professor was a bit shaky about taking his 8am class because I am not a morning person but I did not mind waking up to go to his class if you like to take notes, like history, and have good listening skills this class is an easy A whole class is a lecture will be taking him again
Seems like a nice guy out of the classroom, can be stick with students. The worst thing for me was is lectures had nothing to do with the test. I wouldn't take him again.
Demeaning towards students in the class and very opinionated. Tests are difficult, and he is a tough grader. Lectures always go until the end, and he never lets you out early. If you're looking for a stress free History class, I'd avoid Gabe Pereira.
When I first started this class, I absolutely hated it; but, as the semester went on I began to appreciate it because it's super predictable. As long as you show up to class ON TIME and stay off your phone (you'll get scolded for sure), pay attention to his lectures, and review the questions on the syllabus before the test, you'll be fine.
He is strict but a really good professor
Great teacher and very knowledgeable. If you want to show up late, text in class and not take notes then his class is not for you. But if you love history, want to learn and enjoy hearing first hand accounts from a war veteran then i recommend his class to you.
Very well educated in his field and introduced me to my love of American History.
I have never meet a professor with so much dedication to his students. You get what you put into this class nothing is handed to you, He will work with you to help you any way he knows how and if he needs to he will find a different way of showing you how something is done. Quite the stand up Guy!
I'm rating this professor years after I had him in class because to date has been the most influential professor I've had... and he probably doesn't even realize it. His classes were always so clearly outlined, well presented & came from his heart. He's an absolute wealth of knowledge & his passion for education is very apparent. Take his classes!
This professor is very passionate about teaching. However, I think that he is an extremely strict grader. I always did my work and handed it in on time. I tried to answer all the questions to the best of my ability. However, I did lack the skilled of a strong writer and lost 30% on average off all my assignments. Hope this helps.
His lecture notes have nothing to do with the quizzes or exams. He says that everything is on the lecture notes but its like basically having another subject other than history. Then he decides to make many announcements about how everybody is failing the tests. I really dont recommend taking him.
