Structured, clear, and dedicated
Smart, Clear, Informative
Lori Lange was more exciting w/ Lecture, but you can't have one w/o the other
Very Clear, Animated, Caring, Great Examples and Activities. Well Done!
Clear, seems to care about students, wants us to do well - hard to do this in such a big class, but he does it well. He and Dr. Lange are a great team!
Awesome, awesome class!!! Always something fascinating to discuss and learn about. Very knowledgeable!
Extremely skilled clinician! We're lucky to have him here!
Awesome class, too. A LOT of work, yet it all seemed to help. He explains each assignment - including why we're doing it. Really walked away with a good amount of knowledge to try CBT at my training site.
He's cute. He takes everything, word for word, from the book. He's not clear what's on tests so you just have to study everything. This is a lot of material, which is really difficult. Gives lots of extra credit opss!
I wish he'd take everything from the book - seems like he's teaching graduate students not undergrads! But I like his case examples from his clinical work, and his video examples.
I like this class - he's great at not lecturing all the time, uses short videos of patients and gives us time to talk about the disorders. The class really makes you think. Exams are a mix of MC and essay, and the paper you write about a disorder is fine
Awesome - a HARD class but you learn so much! He's a great clinician and organized teacher. He's fair, kind, open to our opinions. Should place his class earlier in program. Can tell he's a man of faith without him preaching about stuff. I'll miss his positive influence most when I graduate:(
Definitely hot! I took Abnorm Beh from him, and I'm signed up to take Lifespan from him. He teaches in a fun way - not all boring lecture. Fun personality and cares about you as a student. That seems rare here - maybe cause its a public univ. Merry Christmas!
Goodlooking yes, but a jerk. Grades too hard, and expects perfection just b/c your in grad school. He's training counselors, not brain surgeons!
What a hottie! I'm liking this class! He's clear, has fun way of discussing things with us, and does a good job of bringing the chapter topics to life. He practices so he has patient stories or real-life examples that are nice to add to the research examples.
Very knowledgeable and a very nice, caring person. Uses a variety of teaching methods. Very experienced in the field. I will not forget the class for many years to come and the knowledge I acquired because he made us work hard.
He is definitely not that hard. I took a Folioweekly to read in class every lecture and still got out with a B. I pulled pretty much all C's on his tests and got a 100 on the paper, which was graded so easily, and I still came out with a B. He is really boring, but you won't fail this class.
He was excellent for Intro. Made me want to major in Psychology! Doesn't just lecture, has demonstrations, discussions, likes ot involve us as students. Showed interesting video, talked about his cases too. A fun guy who cares about his students.Take him!
Funny, kind, fair, rreat cases. Cute for an old guy, but no-nonsense - unlike some Profs that flirt openly. Saw him nix a woman's come-ons flat out - ha! Some essay on tests, paper, Xtra cr ops.
He was funny adn told interesting stories, explained well. I liked how he could handle our questions, seemd relaxed. Mellow, confident prof. Easy on the eyes! ;) Tests are fine, lots of info but he gives studyguides
Dr. Ybarra rawks! Hard tests but youll walk away with lotsa info on why people do what they do. Open-minded, treats you w/respect. Took time to talk w/me when I was in a rough spot.
Dr. Ybarra is very concerned with getting his students involved. He is always available to help his students out. Yes, he is very easy on the eyes, but he is 100% commited to his field. (a little note, if you didn't know this-college professors choose the classes that they want to teach).
I had Dr. Ybarra as a freshman Psych Major. While he did get a little monotonous at times, he kept the pace up and covered a wide range of topics. The class ended up being my only A that semester...I don't know if that means it was easy, but I wasn't exa
He is a great teacher. I have learned alot from him, ahd I hope to do as good for the rest of the term.
good teacher. interesting class, but you dont really have to go, he puts all notes online along with study guides. test are a little hard, but not too bad. likes to involve the class. pretty cute for a professor! i recommend him
Easy teacher. Has all notes/study guides on Bb. His tests are a little hard though.
I love his class! He's cute, has activities that you can do, puts slides online, and has studyguides for his tests. You need those, cause the tests are hard! He takes time to answer questions, and is easy to talk to if you go up to him after class or at his office. I'm gonna take his abnormal beh class too!
Dr. Ybarra is a fun teacher! He is so smart and loves to have the class participate in his experiments. He def knows his stuff. His tests are hard but he offers extra credit and study guides
Very Nice teacher, but the tests are very hard if you don't study a lot!
I hardly went to class and all his notes are online! Just study and youll do fine! and do extra credit if you can!
This is a great professor. he really knows his materials and is very inviting to talk to, even in his office. he's test cover a-lot of material but he gives a study guide for every test. loved him, and hope to take him again
He was a very nice teacher. He loves teaching. You don't even have to come to class to pass. Just make sure you study for the tests. Don't wait until the last minute. He gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities. I would take him again!
Very kind and helpfull.
wow.. okay hes REALLY hot.. which is the only reason i stayed in the class... wow.. really good looking. hes an okay prof. i had him for Summer A so maybe thats why it sucked so bad. It was my very first C EVER :( kinda sucks but oh well. He's nice and all. but i didn't really like the class. he spoke clearly though. helpful. study guides were good

So hot, and i'm a guy. but the in the class you learn tons and he is really willing to help
He's nice and informative and knows what he's talking about. I had no idea what I would use a class like this for but I'm actually learning a lot about how psychologists are so useful.
Great Guy! Knows his stuff and keeps the class interesting! Very funny and cute... study alot but class attendence is not manditory and gives alot of extra credit! TAKE HIM!
This guy knows his stuff...but he never comes str8 to the point, very slow with aruguements and rambles on. Kinda says the same sentence 10 different ways back to back...says attendance isnt important but he give extra credit in class every so often and its very important.
In my opinion you couldn't ask for a better teacher. He lectures from power points that are all online so it's easy to come to class and just listen. He uses his own experiences and videos to help explain different subjects. Tests are straight from the power points. Nice and knowledgeable teacher.
He is an awesome teacher! Teaches straight from powerpoints. Test are taken from that and the text book. If you need help, he is more than will to help out. Also his essays are easy and he like simple answers
Good teacher, teaches straight from the powerpoints which are available on blackboard. Tests are easy, but you must understand the terms and how they are used. Interesting class even for someone who is uninterested in the field. He is very clear, and looks good for his age. You'll be impressed.
Everything is from Powerpoints. Great teacher, really knows his stuff. Isn't completely boring
This class is not hard. Once you understand that the powerpoints are not sufficient material, you learn how to study. Tests are mostly conceptual and example based. You need the book to master the material. Study guides are very accurate, a little unorganized tho. He's very approachable and gentle natured. Shows fun, interesting video clips. Take!
He's fun, has a quirky sense of humor, seems to really care about students. Made the material come to life, and the class more than about the grade, at least for me. Studyguides, online powerpoints, extra credit ops, and fun class exercises and demonstrations. I agree - take!
Smart guy, he knows his stuff. You can tell that he is a real professional. I would LOVE to take a graduate level course with him. ***If he was single....oh yeah :) he's hot, kinda short but thats okay.
He is an amazing teacher! He teaches straight from the powerpoints which he provides on blackboard. He grades VERY easy on written answers (cant get multiple choice questions half wrong lol). If you want an EASY A take this professor. He is HILARIOUS and shows great clips in class.
He's hot - very masculine yet sensitive. Rare mix. Very funny, and obviously cares about the students in his class. He made sure to make me feel invited to talk when I merely stopped by outside of his office hours twice. I like how he practiced here in Jax as a clinical psychologist - that seemed to make his class cutting edge. Take him if you can.
HE RAMBLES ON AND ON. THE FIRST DAY AND POWERPOINT IS SO BORING, HE SEEMS NICE, but just boring.
boring teacher, its like pulling teeth to try to sit in his class. xtra credit offered, 4 exams with the lowest one dropped. I still have no idea what he really tests on. atten isnt mand, but he gives little assigns in class to see who is really going, really dull...unless he is on one of his tangents, and then you are like well hello left feild!
This was a huge class, but he made it fun! Good sense of humor and easy on the eyes. Hard class, especially trying to do in 6 weeks. The book wasn't the best - change it!
I loved how he could lecture about very difficult topics using just simple examples. Extremely smart, knew things about physics, biology, medicine, chemistry, politics. If all my instructors at UNF are as brilliant as Dr Ybarra, I'm going to love it here. Great first college class! Oh yes, he is attractive but more so sweet and friendly.
Dr. Ybarra's probably the toughest professor in the MACP program, but also a fair grader. I like how he's so human with us. He checks in with students & helps them get thru the semester despite tough times. Yes, he's attractive (but I highly doubt he'd ever go THERE with student - ethics and all...), very bright, extremely funny.
This is a great professor - I love how he tells stories about his cases to make the points clear. He almost made me change my major to psychology from pre-med... almost! I agree about his sense of humor - funny. :)
Awesome professor. Either attend lectures and pay attention or skip&read the book. Offers exam studyguides of EXACTLY what will be on the tests. Drops lowest test so that the final is optional. Very easy going, willing to help outside of class. Keeps lecture interesting w examples from his clinical work.
This class is varly easy as long as you pay attention to power points. He gives you study guides so only study what is on there. He gives alot of breaks during class also.
Great teacher! Very helpful in class. I took him over the summer and he made a 3.5hr class feel like nothing PLUS he let us out at like 3 every day! We got a gradfe for showing up, but you could leave after he gave out the assignment. Tests arent too bad. Overall a great and funny teacher!
Not really interested in Psychology but I had to take this class. Pay attention to power points and get credit for attending classes. Believe me, he is better to look at than some of these other teachers!
Boringggg class. He goes on and on, i never went to class. He does all his stuff on overhead projections so if you just print them out and study them you can pass. Im not interested in the subject so that may have a lot to do with it but i thought it was so boring.
I took this over the summer. He offers a bunch of extra credits. Four exams and one gets dropped. Match the notes in class with the reading and you'll be find. Easy A as long as you study.
Awesome teacher. Offers lots of extra credit. 4 exams, lowest grade gets dropped. Easy A if you put some effort.
He is awesome, his lectures can get a little boring but if you read and actually learn the material you will get an A. He also gives extra credit opportunities. I got a 102 in his class this summer, it wasn't easy I had to study a lot but very much worth it for the grade
you honestly don't need to go to class to pass this class just make sure you study EVERYTHING on the study guide and read the chapters. I got the highest grade on the test I didn't go to class for. great teacher, easy class, really knows his stuff.
Attendance is not mandatory! Really great guy who knows his stuff. As long as you study for the tests, your guaranteed an A!
His lectures are a bit boring. Everything you need is online so it makes it hard not to skip class but thankfully attendance isnt mandatory. The material is interesting but if only he was. He knows his stuff but I wish he could show it more since he mostly reads from powerpoint.
Super easy class, and really nice professor. He post the powerpoints and test reviews on Black Board. Don't bother buying the book, you never use it. Homework and attendance is not required, and he offers alot of extra credit! If you have a full course load and need an easy class, this is the professor for you!
The class is easy and straightforward. You don't have to show up because he doesn't take attendance. Sometimes, he will do little group activities in class that are participation. He posts all powerpoints and test study guides online. Very helpful and to the point. One final paper. Overall, good class.
He was a very straight forward guy, i showed up tp class didnt pay attention read over my study guide and powerpoints before all the test and i did well. Attendance is not mandatory but it does count when you do actiities. He offers extra credit help and he is very considerate if you have extreme issues that prevent you from being in class.
he's boring, monotone! if you study, you'll get an A! he gives a study guide for each test which is awesome.
He gives study guides and good notes for every exam. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and fun little group activies. He may seem dry to some people, but he's funny in a subtle way and his lectures are easy to follow. Yes, yes... he's hot.
Easy class. Good professor. Reads straight from slides. As long as you study for tests, you will get an A!
Tests are based on powerpoints which are posted on blackboard. If you read the powerpoints, you pass the tests. 5 Tests in total. No use of textbook. Attendance isn't mandatory but I went every other day just because. Ybarra talks monotoned and quiet. He is willing to help always and overall understanding. The class was a piece of cake.
The class was overall pretty easy but his lectures were kind of boring and monotone. He relies heavily on his PowerPoints in lecture and the test questions come straight from the powerpoint and book. Attendance isn't mandatory but he does some in-class activities that are extra credit if you show up.
He's the most organized professor I've had at UNF. Tests are hard, with essay questions and there's a term paper. If you are a bad writer, don't take this course. He is funny, uses interesting case examples from his practice. You'll need to read the text if you want an A grade!
He's an awesome teacher and is very knowledgeable in psychology. He is very mellow but he still makes class interesting. I never went to class but still got a B. Posts all powerpoints online and make study guides many weeks in advance of the exams. I would take another class if he taught it.
Awesome teacher. Very organized. Gives you all you need to do well. Interesting lectures reflecting his extensive experience in the field. Test are mult. choice but you must understand the material, not memorize facts. Enjoyed his class very much.
Dr. Ybarra's classes are very interesting, and really easy to pass. Make sure to study the power points, and you should have no problem passing. If you have to miss class occasionally, no big deal, attendance isn't mandatory. He does give extra credit during the class though, so if you need a few extra points, go to class.
Not mandatory attendance, and its a pretty boring class but he is a nice guy.. The tests are pretty hard honestly but if you really read the material you will do just fine. You have one research paper and 5 tests but he drops the lowest grade.
Took him for abnormal psych. He's a bit dull to listen to (monotone), but the topics are interesting and he has a good sense of humor. Attend lecture and take notes OR read the book and you will pass no problem. Uses top 4/5 tests, so final isn't mandatory if you're doing well. Only downside: really poor communication. Won't return emails/calls!
I thought the class was pretty easy. Attendance is not required. The assignments are on connect, and you can BS the connect and still get an A for it. Also, on random days he will have in class SUPER EASY assignments and he goes over the answers and you turn it in. 3 exams, with reviews. STUDY for them. and there is EXTRA CREDIT.
Great professor! Tons of extra credit assignments. Classes are pretty boring but he gives participation grades! So technically class is not mandatory but if you don't go you'll miss some extra points
his tests were hard for me. he did give a study guild but even when I knew everything on it, id still get a C on the tests. he has some super easy connect and extra credit options. overall, its a pretty simple class. he doesn't take roll, but he have in class work that is worth a good chunk of the overall grade
WONDERFUL teacher!! So enthusiastic and insightful about his field and teaches the class using real life examples from his career. Lectures are interesting, but slowwwwww. Exams are pretty simple, but have a few written elements, so watch out. One of my favorite professors EVER and I only hope I can be as awesome as him one day :)
Wonderful professor! would definitely take his class again given the chance. Genuinely tries to make the class interesting and funny. ATTENDENCE IS MANDATORY BECAUSE OF RENDOM PARTICIPATION POINTS! Everything on the exams is on the study guides and in the powerpoints. It is nearly impossible to fail.
Great Professor
He is a great professor. He has his own practice so he brings outside information from his line of work to the classroom. Drops lowest test grade, all tests are about 40 multiple choice. Some (random) group activities for participation so attendance is almost mandatory to get credit for thsoe.
Ybarra is awesome and I highly recommend anyone who has to take intro to get him. Easy A if you at least study an hour a week. Online assignments for completion grade, 4 test and a final. Final is optional if you are satisfied with your grade. He is very entertaining and makes the lecture enjoyable.
Online book/ connect required. Great professor! Really cares about students succeeding. Slow on responding to email. Just talk to him after class or go to his office. Tests are tough, but he tells you what's on them. You have to study and put in effort to get A. Loads of extra credit possible.
This class was a piece of pie. I took this course Summer 2013, class was not manditory, the assignment was easy. As look as you made an attempt and completed all the questions you got credit for it. The exam is not that difficult. I am a lazy student and I thought he was easy. I don't like working unless it's easy work.
Ybarra's class is easy and his tests aren't hard but I swear to god his lectures are incredibly boring! He just reads off the powerpoints and has a voice that will put u to sleep. You don't really need to attend class, if you just read the book and go over his powerpoints you should get a passing grade.
really great professor. reads off pp but willing to help if you need it. would take him again
Ybarra is a pretty cool guy. He's a nice professor and easy to listen to, but you have to pay attention or the tests will kick your butt. They're long exams that pull details from the lectures and the book, so read as much as possible. He does provide study guides, though, so that's a plus.
Tests are not difficult at all and I crammed for every single one. If you miss a class, you will be fine as long as you go back and look over the powerpoints. Lectures are kinda boring, and his writing on the board makes me want to hurt somebody, but he generally sticks to the powerpoints. He drops your lowest test grade, final exam included.
really easy grader. not hard to make A's on his tests, as long as you follow his study guides. But don't just follow his lectures. Read your book. In fact you can totally skip class until the test and just use his power points, study guide and your book and you will get an A.
Easy online learnsmarts. He takes your best 45 exams, so you don't have to take the final if you're happy with your grade. 1 10-page paper. Tests are multiple choice with 2 out of 3 essays to choose from. His study guides are great and if you go to class he tells you what will be on the essays. Awesome material. I Highly recommend taking him!!
I would definitely take him for another class. You only really need the code for the textbook. I never actually read and I did fine. He is funny and really connects the material to real life. I made sure I was there because I never wanted to miss a class. He didn't take attendance, but did have participation assignments for attendance instead.
Professor Ybarra is good. The Intro to Psych class is interesting. He is somewhat unorganized but it wasn't a problem. There are 5 tests but he drops lowest one. The rest of the grade is online quizzes and some easy in class assignments. The test questions are mostly from the notes. There are also some extra credit opportunities.
He is an amazing guy! His lectures lack some interest sometimes, but easy to follow along. All his presentations are online. Tests are okay as long as you study. He inspired me to change my major, and has helped a lot! He is a great person to talk to and get to know! You will love his class! Plus is grading is very fair and offers A LOT of e.c.
Dr. Ybarra is a great guy and very knowledgeable. His lectures can be very dry and honestly, you wouldn't even have to come to class except he does in-class assignments every so often. His stories are interesting and he shows some long videos and does a few demonstrations . Tests are multiple choice and not too hard. Learnsmarts. Optional final.
Ybarra was a very easy teacher. He's monotoned though so his lectures are a tad on the boring side for such an interesting topic. Also, he assigns a 10 page paper for the end of the semester. But he is such an easy grader that it wasn't a big deal.
Although his lectures are long, Dr. Ybarra clearly explains the materials thoroughly. He gives study guides before each tests which are very helpful! Tests are multiple choice. Just study, do your homework, and read your textbook and you'll be fine.
He is amazing and I will take him for any psych class I take in the future. He is late to lecture at times but he's class is awesome. Answers all of your questions too. He actually gets through the powerpoints. There are homeworks due before the test that are participation grades in the end. TAKE THIS CLASS!
He is a good professor; he knows what he is talking about. All of his lectures are online. Tests come from both the lectures and the textbook. Had to complete connect, but it wasn't that hard, and it was good for a review. If I had to take a psych class again, I would take him.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. He knows what he's talking about, he loves the subjects he teaches us about. He provides great in class examples and encourages you to participate. Tests are easy if you review your notes, PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONNECT WORK, and read the book!! But rlly tho he's super interesting.
Only reason why I put easy down to a 2 is because 5 tests that make up 80 percent of grade and I'm the worst at tests. But one of my favorite professors so far.
Pretty basic lectures. Study the material and do the extra credit offered!!!
Loved this professor! Lectures were super interesting and funny. You can only miss 2 classes. Tests are kind of hard but he gives you a study guide with everything on it, so just make sure you study. No hw besides connect. Easy class I would say!
Ybarra is a good professor. He's pretty laid back, which can make you sleepy at times, but he can also be funny and engaging. This class was much better than intro to psych, so I recommend. Tests have essay questions, but easy ones if you study. One 10 page paper due at the end of the semester. Slides are online. Would take again!!
I took his abnormal psych class and thought it was great. Everythings very straight forward the tests are strictly on the power points with a little bit on the book. You have learnsmarts. his power points are online so you don't even have to go to class. The tests are easy if you memorize the power points (theres a lot)
Dr. Ybarra is definitely the best professor to take for this class. He is primarily a clinical psychologist so he really does know what he is talking about. However, his lectures are quite boring most of the time, but he is very funny. Four exams and a ten page paper. Best for the class, but don't expect much excitement.
Nice prof. Hard exams but study & you'll pass. Two essay questions on exams, otherwise MC. One long paper due. Class hardly matters but before exams he gives the essay options so go to get those. I've taken him multi times, worth the effort. Pretty easy A overall. Final is optional too!
Super nice and laid back prof. He has 4 tests and an optional final, as well as one 10 page paper. He is not good about feedback or emailing back which was inconvenient. Only homework is connect.
Four exams. Final is only if you want to drop a lowest exam grade or if you missed an exam. One 8 page paper. Easy grader on that as well. Only need textbook for Smartbook (LearnSmart) assignments. He does take attendance, but not every week. Still show up to class. He's got some solid jokes. Very knowledgeable man. Grading: A, A-, B+, etc.
Decent professor, information in the class is pretty general. Lectures are extra credit, and the notes all get posted online anyways. Overall good class, enjoyed the professor; very helpful and a nice guy.
The class is very large 200 kids. You do homework which are called connects they are due Sundays @ 11:59 pm. 4 exams. He drops one of the lower exams. Active in the class group work uses it as participation points and also attendance.
Professor Ybarra was an awesome professor, his voice is a little monotone so if you take a morning class with him it might be a little boring. He is very knowledgeable about this subject and gives many real life examples which is helpful. There is a ten page paper due at the end of the semester but he's an easy grader. Show up and it's an easy A.
Ybarra is definitely a good professor but his lectures can get boring at times. This class I think is pretty easy to pass, just make sure you study for the exams. You also have an 8 page paper due at the end of the semester but its not too bad given that he does not really assign much homework.
The content is very interesting, but his monotonous voice during lectures will most likely bore you. He isn't very accessible via email & also will include material on exams that he never went over in class. Other than that, he has clear grading criteria & doesn't expect much out of you besides participation and quizzes that are due before exams.
I really enjoyed the class. Took him for Abnormal Psychology and I really enjoyed the material. Doing the homework and going to class was enough studying for me to do well on the tests but I had previous experience with this subject. Slightly monotone but you can tell he really cares about the subject. Very helpful when I went to his office hours.
My experience in this class wasn't the best. He does not answer his emails whatsoever, he claims to lose them. Grading takes forever. He does give extra credit. There is also a 10 page essay which isn't too bad but he is a tough grader on that. I would never take a class with him again simply because it is so hard to contact him.
Not bad for a Summer A course-- we learned 12 chaps in 6 wks but everything flowed together. Only 3 exams & Dr. Ybarra provided a study guide for each. 10 connect assignments that were easy points; they're just super long but helps with exam preparation. There's a 10 page paper that is kinda easy if you start early & make a outline like I did.
Dr. Ybarra does a fair job of teaching the material. It's not really hard content, but it often felt rushed and incomplete. Despite this, he's insightful and will hold a great conversation after class to answer any questions/concerns you have. I struggled keeping focused on the class mostly due to the monotony, but overall his class was fine.
5 exams but lowest will be dropped. Optional final which can only help your grade but if you bomb it, it won't count. There are connect assignments and a paper on a disorder. Lots of reading. Be prepared to study considering its about disorders and there's a lot of information. There were some extra credit opps. Hard to reach him during office hrs
Professor Ybarra is knowledgeable and nice. There are participation assignments, so make sure you watch the canvas calendar for those due dates, because those are what caught me off guard. There is a lot of material, but everything is open book. Put a lot of effort into the exams, the term paper, and the other assignments and you'll be okay.
I loved taking abnormal psychology with Dr. Ybarra! His lectures were all very interesting and easy to follow along. He gives one assignment maybe every couple weeks that is not time consuming and is usually done during lecture. I *actually* enjoyed taking his exams. Highly recommend taking him for Abnormal Psychology!
Dr. Ybarra is by far one of my favorite instructors at UNF. He made my transfer from community college to university effortless. You don't necessarily have to note take on his lectures unless you want to! He does not believe in memorization-based exams; he'd prefer you prove your mastery through his super easy exams! There's a book, but it's online
while not the worst professor in the world, Ybarra goes way too fast in talking through uninteresting lectures. lecture slides clearly have not been updated, and often feature lots of extraneous information and dated language. in this semester in particular, he also scarcely showed up to his in-person class. the class could have been online.
I personally found his lectures very unhelpful and had a lot on unnecessary info so I basically treated it like an online class. All assignments are online and very easy, exams are easy as well. Super accessible via email and clear on grading, and he's very nice. Def not the worst prof out there for abnormal psych, I'd recommend him for sure.
Dr. Ybarra was nice. 3 exams and a 10-page research paper at the end. He gives good feedback for the paper and offers a lot of help.
Professor Ybarra is a great professor but his lectures were a little fast-paced and can get boring at times. There's 4 exams plus a 10 page paper due at the end of the semester that make up a majority of your grade.
has never answered an email ever. did some extra credit for him and the SONA system didn't work so I emailed him with proof and CCd the man that did the experiment and just?? never got a response. let alone credit
The exams make up most of your grade. His tests include lots of errors and extraneous information that is usually unimportant to the material and very hard to find in the textbook/lectures. His lecture material isn't very organized and it is a bit sporadic, albeit a very interesting class and a respected and caring professor
I learned a lot and I really enjoyed the lectures. i got an A
Easy class to pass, but very boring unfortunately. Exams are online. At the end of the semester you have to turn in a 10 page paper of a disorder of your choice. Highlight of the semester was when he brought in donuts for the class.
Professor Ybarra is the type of professor that will get you interested in the field if you pay attention. Although his voice is rather monotone, he is incredibly clear in his passion for psychology. Exams are online, Zoom is always available, and the final paper is easy(around 10-11 pages though). Definitely one of the better professors at UNF.
Dr. Ybarra did a great job overall! He was really easy to follow along and was there for you for anything you need with his class. He is also a counselor outside the classroom so he has a lot of outside experience!
Prof. Ybarra was a great professor. Took him in person and attendance was not required as the lecture slides are posted online. The textbook is available online for half the price as a hard copy, and some test questions do come from it. Offers a lot of extra credit and is willing to work with students.
Prof. Ybarra's lectures can be a bit fast-paced, but the class is manageable with the free online textbook and helpful feedback on the paper. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep. Overall, a solid course.
He'll never respond to an email, and he'll give the dryest lectures you've ever heard, but as long as you read up the exams aren't too bad. Stopped going after the 3rd one because he drops the lowest grade, so that was nice.
Professor Ybarra is extremely knowledgeable about this subject; and my key to success in his class was reviewing the powerpoint slides beforehand. He hosted Zoom meetings prior to as well. Definitely recommend him because he breaks down subject matter in a way that is interesting and makes sense.
Very easy to follow and gives great lectures. very knowledgeable and uses real world examples in lectures and has great stories to tell. the best psych class i've ever taken
Super nice but it is really difficult to get a hold of him outside of class. Also, the wording on his tests is tricky, and his study guides don't really explain how in depth he wants you to study. Definitely study more than the topic on the study guide. Really nice when it came to accepting late assignments.
The class has 4 50 multiple choice exams non cumulative the lowests one gets dropped then an essay with some text book assignments which those are really easy doesn't respond to emails makes study guides for test that are helpful but he does word some questions/ask questions that the study guide does not help with overall wouldn't take him again
