She is a very nice person. SHE IS THE ONLY TEACHER I KNOW WHO GIVES BONUS QUESTIONS AND EXTRA CREDIT!!! She definitely likes to grade hw which is a grade booster and is willing to drop the lowest grade!. If you took calc before it will be a lot easier to understand her teaching ways. Just pay attention and attend. She tells you what is on the test.

She is very sweet, but sometimes she has the tendency to mumble. If I didn't understand what she was saying in class, I could always use the examples from the hw on mymathlab to figure it out. We never used the book, if we did, she would just write the problem on the board. the book is a waste of money. she likes to use the same problems on tests.

She is a very good professor when it comes to helpfulness. She also does a good job in explaining the material. She drops the lowest quizzes and hw. Her exams are not difficult either. So you should take her for calculus. You can ended up with a decent grade.

Professor Bulancea is a kind and understanding woman. However, her lectures are dull and dragged on. I learned more from my recitation class. Attendance is counted the first half of the semester. And all the graded hw is online. She also offers practice exams; yet they have little to no relevance to the actual exam. P.S. her final is tough!

Such a great professor. One of the best at mason. She's very clear with her explanations and is really willing to help you. Participation points by attending class and doing iclickers (there was almost one every class). And mymathlab homework due every week which is a chance to boost up your grade. She genuinely cares about her students.

She is a very good teacher. He lectures are clear and she is very willing to help with any questions. She is personable and non threatening. The class is hard. You will need to study a lot but she is quite accommodating and attempts to help you learn the material. I highly recommend her.

She is very respectful to her students. Office hours will help, she's there even right before an exam/final. Grades fairly. There are iClicker quizzes which you may not want to miss but she doesn't take attendance. Exams aren't very difficult if you study from her sample finals (which she posts the sample solutions to as well)

She is willing to help if you ask and is very nice. For me, the material after the second exam become difficult. Biggest mistake I made was not finding a study group for this class, so find one! I would consider taking another class with her because she grades fairly, curves, and provides bonus questions.

Prof. Bulancea is the greatest prof. I have ever met. She is very good at explaing the difficult subjects. When I took 290 with Prof. Walnut, I never understood what congruence meant. With her help, I understood this subject clearly. She also assigned hw everyweek, but the hw helped me grasp the materials.Overall, she is a prof. to take.

Prof Bulancea is one of the best professors in the Math department. She is really helpful especially if you come to her office hours. Calc 2 itself is hard. Topics after the midterm became difficult. Some lectures of her can be a bit boring. STUDY for the finals! But she really cares for her students

She gives out homework every week, and she grades them. I bombed the first test, but got A and B on the 2nd exam and final. I passed the class with a B+. If you don't understand something, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She's really helpful. To prepare for the exams, just go over the homework problems because they're similar.

Really great professor, and I am taking another class with her this upcoming semester. I worked really hard for my A in her class by doing the HW and doing practice problems. If you work hard and go to her office hours, an A is within your grasp.

If you do not know what's going on go to office hours she is good at explaining your mistakes on exams and homework problems. Professor Bulancea is the best Mathematics professor you will have at Mason. She cares for every single of her students, and makes sure that everyone is on track. Her explanations and excellent and she makes difficult concepts simple to understand. She assigns A LOT of homework. Mason should have more Professors like her.

She is amazingly good at explaining. At first you will have some trouble understanding her accent, but you will get use to it after the first lecture. She has an impecable knowledge of the material, as is able to explain really complex concepts in simple terms. She leaves A LOT of HW as well as a programming project. TAKE HER!

She is the greatest math professor at GMU. She is an astounding mathematician and one of the sweetest professors I have ever know. Dr. Bulancea cares about the students, and even though she assigns a lot of homework she is willing to give you extensions. Take her if you can, she will make you love mathematics.

Calc II is hard enough and the professor tries her best to teach it well. I found it hard to keep up because she assigns SO much HW and moves quickly throughout her lectures. Her grading system is a bit odd where only a 94 is an A. And also no calculators are allowed on quizzes or exams. She was nice, but her teaching style just wasn't for me.

Best Math Professor at Mason, covers all topics in depth and is very accessible outside of class. Lenient grader, gives partial credit and tests reflect lecture and homework materials. Requires MyMathLab and Textbook, bit pricey but great professor! Quizzes are given during every recitation.

This was a required course, and i am not a math major. The lectures are long and the material is dense, however, the professor does make herself easily available and is very approachable. i don't think i would have passed this course with a different professor.

Within a 2hr lecture, you'll end up with 10pages of notes. She gives useful notes, but her handwriting is poor. She's good at explaining the material, but she's monotonic, so it can get boring. Exams were hard, but if you study well, you will pass. Quiz at every recitation, available by email/office hours, curves when needed, iClicker required.

Lots of notes to be taken, but that is a good thing. Professor Bulancea goes over a lot of classes in class which are very useful. Quizzes in every recitation. Tests weren't difficult at all if you did the homework/kept up. A good professor who explains things well. Will be taking her for Calc 3. Textbook is not required, but iClicker is.

Math 114 is a hard class but professor Bulencea does a great job at teaching it. the 2 hour lecture consists of intense note taking so if you skip even one class you will be behind. if you do the homework and spend around 5 hours a week studying (really studying) You'll do great. also, visit the math tutoring center because they'll help a lot.

Calc 2 is a hard class in general but she gave lots of notes and good examples. She also gave practice exams to help study for exams. As for the exams, she was very fair on grading and difficulty of questions. Taking her again for calc 3.

Best math teacher I've had in a long time. She breaks it down into manageable pieces, and gives regular quizzes to assess where the class is having problems, and then if too many people are having an issue, she goes back and reworks the problem to make sure we get it right.

She is great because she always comes prepared and does a lot of examples. I strongly urge you to read a section prior to lecture. Make sure you do well on the final which is a huge grade for the semester. My whole letter grade dropped for not doing well on the final. It can be replaced with your lowest exam too. It's my fault for not preparing

Professor Bulancea is a solid choice. The tests are fair but it is important to do well. This semester I only had 2 midterms and a final. No tests are dropped. She gives you previous exams that are very close to the tests so it makes studying much better. She assigns homework for a grade. Helps with tests. Lectures are boring

This professor is decent because her notes and supplements are helpful. However, I was having a lot of problems with understanding her explanations due to her heavy accents and her fast teaching style. She is not the best lecturer, but you still need your notes to study, so don't skip classes. Just study notes, do your homework, and sample exams.

Taken for both Calc 2 and 3. Excellent professor who gives a lot of notes. Homework given daily. Easy quizzes in recitation every week. Exams were fair - similar to the practice exams she gave and problems solved in class. You'll be writing a lot in this class. Textbook not used. Highly recommend professor Bulancea!

she's a good professor. i would say that her thick accent, cursive handwriting, and the amount of hw she gave are the only things i don't like about her. certainly not an easy A but if you work hard, an A is certainly attainable.

Bulancea is thorough and explains all of the mathematical concepts completely. She shows a variety of techniques to solve each problem and uses many examples in class. She keeps up the pace without making you feel like you're falling behind. She's very dedicated to the class and always treats you with respect.

Professor Bulancea lectures are not ambiguous at all . If you cannot understand her lecture on limits the first couple of weeks then drop her course since that is the easiest material she will cover. She has LA's, use them as much as possible if you stay with the course. HMK and quizzes are easy for a good grade. She gives partial credit as well

Great experience with Professor Bulancea! Attend class (i-clicker Q's) and do homework, b/c both will contribute to your grades. Her grading policy is clear and she gives partial credits. Visit her office hours if you are confused with something, she will explain it thoroughly. She is a good lecturer and gives plenty of example problems. Get her!

iClicker - 5%, MyMathLab hw - 10%, recitation quizzes - 10%, tests -15% each (3 x 15 45%), and final exam -30%. The questions on MyMathLab can be repeated an infinite number of times so if you get it wrong, just do it again. She posts similar practice tests before tests so if you can do those, you're set. Her LAs have review sessions, v helpful.

Professor Bulancea is the Best prof in the Math dept. Her lectures could get kind of boring, but she does a lot of practice questions in the class and explains things thoroughly. If you don't understand something in class go to her office hours and she'll help a lot! Don't skip class coz you'll be lost after that. Final is 30% of your grade!!

Definitely a good person. Teaches pretty well, its calc so not many ways to teach it, but she does a good job with everything. I know I do well and so do many of my classmates. DON'T SKIP LECTURES b/c she provides examples that are most likely going to be on her exams or on the recitation quizzes. Her tests are similar to her practice exams so DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS and ATTEND EXAM REVIEWS or go to her office hours. There is MathLab homework and in class participation(i clicker). TAKE HER IF YOU CAN AND TRY HARD.

This professor is great. She really wants every student to succeed and cares about making sure we each understand the material. Its important to read the material BEFORE her lectures, otherwise a lot of it will just zip right by.

I enjoyed taking her class even though I'm not a fan of math. She would go around the room with the TA to help out students when doing independent work, and I found this to be especially helpful for me. She writes down everything you need to know, so if you go to class and take notes with her, you're golden.

Teaches at a good pace. It is calc its understandable that it can be difficult. She teaches well, so if you aren't doing well you probably aren't paying attention or didn't do the homework. she gives practice quizzes which really help. Really knows how to answer questions if student is confused. Definitely glad I had her.

Let's be real: calc 2 is not an easy class, so don't take that out on Professor Bulancea. She is kind, patient, explain things well and assigns weekly homework and quizzes to ensure material is understood. I hadn't had calc in 2 years. 5 notebooks later and a lot of studying and I got an A-. Study hard, do the homework and go to review sessions.

She is the best math prof I've had! She's super organized and posts all lecture slides online. Come to class for great proofs and explanations of slides. Opportunities for extra credit on tests and homework. Highly recommend. She wants you to succeed!

Professor Bulancea is clearly very passionate about Math. She teaches it in a way that's easier to understand than most teachers, and helps you figure out how to solve a problem if you're stuck. One downside is that she teaches very fast, so you need to keep up and can't zone out. Also make sure to practice and do the homework cause it helps a lot.

Bulancea was a Godsend. My professor who didn't teach us anything and had us all scared we were going to fail calc II dropped of the face of the Earth and she took his place. Her exams are very hard, but she adequately prepares you if you show up to class and there was a heavy curve at the end of the semester.

I don't understand how Professor Bulancea has gotten such poor reviews. She gives amazing lectures and makes every concept easy to understand. You will have to show up to class in order to understand topics. She responds to emails in a timely manner. She also gives homework every other week.

Although the class itself was pretty difficult and the lectures were pretty fast-paced, the professor did a pretty good job. There is a fair amount of homework given. Tests are a big part of your grade, but all of them were either given extra credit opportunities or were curved heavily. As long as you show up and do the work, you'll be fine.

Honestly Great Professor, her lectures are really heavy and long but if you want to do good in the class they will help you lots. Also going to her office hours before exams really prepares you and do the practice exams they are similar to the exams. I did put a good amount of time for it every week to get that A though.

I took Calculus I with Prof Bulancea and I loved it. She really understands and enjoys teaching the material, which makes it a lot easier to understand. Her lectures are long (mine was in 2-hour chunks) but absolutely chock full of examples and explanations. Take notes of everything, go to her office hours, and the tests will be easy. She's lovely.

She definitely went into detail for every topic. She'll break it down, show the process of what the equations/problem is and then solves with examples. Then she would have everyone go to the whiteboards in groups to solve examples. It is definitely engaging, so I recommend her 100% if you want to understand the content well.

Professor Bulancea is good at teaching and her lectures are content heavy, but she is somewhat disorganized and falls behind the pace of other calc 2 professors. She will ask you to watch recordings before class and then go over the exact same thing in class, but she gives participation points through group board work, so attendance is required.

Awesome professor! Do the MyMathLab assignments, pay attention in class, take notes, and you will do well in Calculus 2. I was afraid of this class after hearing that Calc 2 tends to be the most difficult class, but this professor taught it excellently!

Calc 2 has a lot of material but she tries her best to explain things and get through it. It's a fast paced class and a lot of practice problems. Keep up with her Pearson hw assignments, attend lectures, and review your notes for the exam.

Calc 2 is not supposed to be an easy class. It's hilarious seeing people not watch her lecture videos and give bad ratings. Watch the lectures because they help a lot. Take notes, do the homework and extra credit/practice exams, then you'll be fine. Honestly I'd take her again for any other math class. There are much more worse profs you can get.

How to get an A in this class: - Watch her online lecture - Practice what you learned by doing the additional problems in her notes. - Solve and make sure you understand the problems in the review folder for every week - the three points above should help you get A's on the tests - consistently turn all other assignments in every week on time.

I took her online async class and it was pretty smooth. Just do your weekly check-your-understanding and webassign on time and get ready for the exams at least a week before and you should do just fine. Overall, this class was alright and definitely doable.

Incredible, she clearly cares about her students and the work that she does. Her lectures are accessible, it was very easy to ask questions. Comes in every afternoon with a smile. Lots of board work, she comes around and helps, one of the most helpful processes. She has videos, notes, and the textbook all online, and is light with homework.

I took it online and didn't watch lectures, but I learned everything from organic chemistry tutor, so as long as you self learn you will be fine. Her grading is good, she gives points back for work. She gave 8% extra credit for doing a practice test and turn that in which is SUCH a good deal. Her lectures aren't that good though...

Lots of homework every week, if you dont cheat on the weekly practice problems it will take you forever but thats the point because you will learn from it. She gives a good amount of extra credit. The course itself is hard and I recommend understanding what you are doing and why rather than memorizing because that will get you farther.

I took her class this summer, and I was going through a hard time. I communicated with her, and she made a lot of adjustments due to my situation, which was much appreciated. Classes need to be attended, and the homework is really important. She might be strict during the semester, but if you work hard, she'll make sure you get a good grade.

Straight forward professor who is pretty generous with their grading. Explains concepts well and spends time talking to people who may be struggling. 2 tests + 1 final test along with a weekly quiz helps retain the information.
