she is the best if you care about your grade and seek help she is always there what can i say its a hard class but ms mendoza always has her door open to help she cares about her students passing one of the few great math professors at rcc.

Her lectures are crystal clear and very organized. And if they arent shes willing to take the time to explain it to you. She has a very good sense of humor and is willing to make time to help you. I admit her tests are hard consisting of 5 questions 20 pts each but she is very generous. She gives out alot of extra credit and her quizes are decent.

its an easy class. shes not a real smart prof, and she sometimes has difficulties explaining certain matters. at some point, she can lighten up her lecture 2b interesting though. just do all HWs, participate in doin problems on the board, and ace the tests (psst, they're challenging!!), u'll get an easy A in this class. shes rly friendly & helpful.

great teacher. alwyas willing to help. exams worth 15% of your grade. 4 exams. homework 5% of final grade. office is always open. is willing to come to school on her own time if you need help. explains things in great detail and will stop and ask if everyone is on the same page before she moves on.

She explains material in class decently but is confusing at times cause she always messes up the problem. Her last three test are really hard because she uses problems way to complicated. And most of the test only have 6 or 7 questions so u fail if u miss two. Would not recommend if you are looking for an easy A...

Take this teacher if you have the chance. She is really challenging. The in class assignments are the hardest part of the course. The test are fair, and she grades more on that you know the concept instead of the right answer. She does make some mistakes, but who doesn't. She also leads you to the answer instead of telling it to you. Great Class.

first of, she was the hottest math teacher i had. sometimes she would try and act tough but couldnt keep a straight face. If you got in her class by accident because of the testing, she will get mad if you try and used material frm advance maths like trig, pre-cal, etc. is really confusing. kept the class awake, probably the guys, by her clothes.

Professor Mendoza is a great teacher, especially for a summer Calculus class. I just didnt agree with the suprise mutiple choice final, that messed me up. It would have been okay, if that was the format used during the whole class.

She is AWESOME! I tried taking Mat35, believe it or not, 4 times. I didnt fail, but I ended up dropping because of the teaching style or because most of the class was failing, or I was afraid. I took her over the SUMMER; 5 unit course over 6 weeks, and got an A. She is friendly, passionate, enthusiastic, helpful, open, and a happy person. I <3 her.

This was a great summer course. She was extremely helpful when needed. The only thing that was upsetting was that suprise multiple choice. I got a lower grade than I was already getting because of it. I would suggest keeping the same format of tests. I understand professors can be in a hurry to get the grades in, but overall students are important2

Great teacher. She asks the class if more practice is needed or not for each type of problem, and goes into good detail about it. She always asks if everyone copied down what she writes on the board before erasing. Lastly, there's never anything on the tests that she hasn't lectured on.

Dr. Mendoza is absolutely great. My advice, do all of the homework, read the book before going to class, go on mathtv.com, go on youtube.com and search the khanacademy. You should really go to the SI sessions. Dr. M is a very sweet person and is always available to help if you want her assistance. She is a very inspiring and gifted person.

Cramm for Math 52, the most confusing teacher ive ever had. i failed, but had to try again. i tried mendoza, and she´s incredible. she is an amazing teacher, she is so helpful. i´ve had good teachers before, but she was fantastic. tells you everything you need to know. she gets her quiz and test questions from the practice! do those!!!

Took her for 2011 spring semester. Excellent teacher, has a doctorate in math. Will teach you the "right" way to calculus, though it may not necessarily be the easiest way. Study the details, she takes off points for little(but important)things. Don't slack off, class is hard but doeable during a main semester. Best rcc calc 1 class imo.

Make no mistake: It is a hard class and taking it during Summer session was not wise. She is amazing. Best professor I've ever had. She means business, too. Come to class and be serious about learning, otherwise don't waste your time or hers. I hated math before her class. Take her during regular long semesters.

Gabriela is by far the best teacher I have ever had. She uses a unique teaching method that helps most students understand mathematical language. She makes her classroom a comforting environment for students to learn and feel engaged. If you are not a dedicated person don't bother taking her class, she expects you to earn your grade.

I loved this professor! But she is really hard and does require the student to know some proofs which are challenging. Homework isn't required but encouraged. Final is easier than her tests. She has a passion for math that energizes you and makes the student want to learn.

Best math teacher ive ever had, explains the reasoning behind the methods of math so you dont need to remember a million different things, just remember the concepts she teaches and the other stuff will become common sense. Explains the proof behind mathematics and how every step relates to the real world.

I had some trouble switching to an abstract way of thinking about math but with her help I ended up understanding the concepts very well. She is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. No homework really. Grade is based on 3 tests, 1 final, quizzes and lab work. I bombed the first test so my grade isn't representative of my understanding.

I got an "F" in her class. But you know what?! She's the best Math professor I ever had! Mendoza is truly a great math professor, she actually helps you understand math and not just remember formulas. She'll answer any questions you have and won't move on until she's answered it completely. The homework is not collected, but your bound to ace the test if you do it. Highly recommend her :)

Love her teaching style. She breaks down everything into understandable parts and stresses why something is right not just the steps. She says "Being good at math is a choice." She's right and I really learned a lot. If you do your homework, take notes, and ask questions, you will do well! If you have to take math, take it with her!

Shes a great professor. Ive taken this class before with reyes and I did horrible, super lost from lack of explaining the material. But mendoza was awesome, shes not easy but she explains everything really clear. just smart and likes what she does.

She's a hard teacher at first, but as long as you keep trying (TRYING) and appreciate your college education, and want one, it'll be a breeze as long as you put in the effort that is demanded in college. Do not take if you want not to learn.

Ok look the Math 35 course is a lot of work. She is smart and truly cares. She will teach you from the bottom. Like what the word solve means. She is great! Mendoza's class is extremely difficult. You will definitely be in trouble if you don't do the homework she assigns even though she doesn't collect it. Unless you are a fast (and VERY determined) learner, I recommend you look for another professor. She is willing to help though, but also intimidating to approach.

Dr. Mendoza is brilliant. She's so down to earth and really has an interest in helping you. However, she does expect you to put in 110% in her class which includes studying pre lecture, post lecture, and more studying. She knows how to relate math to real life and wants you to understand and rethink the way you've been taught math prior to college.

Mrs. Mendoza is a teacher who keeps math simple and to the point. Whether it was complex or simple; she breaks it down so the student can better comprehend the material. Being in her MAT-52 classes was awesome. As a math teacher she has left a impact on me, which coming next semester I will look forward to MAT-35.

Math has always been a mystery to me, but now I love it! Professor Mendoza explains everything in detail and gives you the "why" behind each math concept. Although she comes off a little scary at first, she truly cares for her students. Just work hard, follow her instructions and you will succeed in her class. I'm taking her for 35 now too!

Tests focus a lot on your ability to convey an argument & your logic, rather than simply getting an answer. Tests aren't too difficult if you do the homework. She's charismatic & makes lectures intriguing. Always willing to help & welcomes questions. Don't be intimidated by her occasional sarcasm because she's truly a great professor.

Great professor. Her tests aren't too difficult, homework is not mandatory, but strongly recommended. There's a group project, but she's generous since some groups really struggle and its worth an exam grade. She has a very methodical lecture style that breaks everything down, acknowledging that not everyone understands stuff the first time. Great.

Prof. Mendoza tells you from the outset that if you want an easy Calculus course, perhaps you should head over to UC Berkeley. And she means it. If you're studying anything STEM-related, this woman will truly teach you mathematics. She will make you good at mathematics. Students looking to check boxes need not apply: her class is not easy.

Mendoza was an okay professor who knew her stuff. My only complaint is that she speaks too fast. Maybe calculus is just my weakness, but I studied so much and I had a hard time understanding the concepts in this class. I didn't learn much from her. Instead, I learned from youtube vids, and if anything, her lectures just reinforced my knowledge.

Dr. Mendoza is extremely enthusiastic about her field. She'll enter class on the first day, announce that she uses a syllabus on par with MIT, and gently suggest that people who want easy As wait until they can take calculus at Berkeley or UCLA. She means it too. Whatever you say about her, she'll prepare you for rigorous math when you transfer.

We didn't turn in homework, which I liked, and the exams were not exceedingly difficult. The hardness of exams was consistent throughout the semester. I have one reason why I won't take her again: her attitude. If you want to learn in a non-hostile environment, then go elsewhere. Some people liked her personality, but to me it was a turn off.

Intimidating at first, but she was honest with explaining the difficulty of understanding calculus. Her lectures are extremely clear and offers plenty of examples. Her exams are not easy because she tests of the fundamentals and especially if you understand the proofs. Overall, she pushes the potential of her students, & I appreciate her for that.

Professor Mendoza is the best professor you can wish for Math35. Her explanations are building from ground up, so the understanding of material is thorough, not mere memorization. She takes an extra effort in organizing the studied material for you. Also she's very fair in grading and will give credit even for wrong answer if you show work.

She would not give you credit for the correct answer if the steps are not clear. Vice versa, if your steps are right but the answer is wrong, she would give you 9 out of 10. If you can write very neat, you will also get points for that. Be prepared of the materials before you get in the classroom, helps a lot. Do the homework tho its not mandatory

Mendoza really values the conceptual aspect of MAT1A. That said, expect tests that are proof/concept heavy and challenge your ability to explain yourself. They're pretty tough, but if you do all the optional homework and read before class you'll do fine. She cares about her students, has great lectures, and truly wants you to succeed. Great prof!

She's a great professor. I took her classduring the winter and it was pretty hard to keep upwith. Each lecture was about 4 hours, so missing a lecture is missing a chpt. She gave three exams that were each worth 20% of your grade. The final was worth 25% and quizzes were the last 15%. Even though the hw is not mandatory, DO IT! The practice helps.

Professor Mendoza is very knowledgeable of the subject and her way of teaching is very clear and straight to the point. She always asks if anyone got lost or needs further explanation. Offers spot of opportunities for extra credit and is constantly sending emails with a review sheet(s) of lectures.

Professor Mendoza actually is a great professor. I like how in her tests she gives you credit for knowing how to complete the problem. Even if you maybe messed up on the multiplying during the problem but maintain how to solve the problem then you will get mostly full points. She was amazing! She would explain everything so well. She does give some extra credit opportunities which really helped. The textbook is needed since most of the homework problems assigned are from the textbook.

First. ALL MATH CLASSES REQUIRE WORK. She is lecture heavy and grade is based off tests. Home works my be open for extra credit. Quizzes will give you great reference for the tests. Study, do assigned home works, and you should be solid. She was understanding when I or others had in class questions. Limited on time but willing to restate to help.

Dr. Mendoza is super sweet and wants her students to succeed. Her lectures help a lot, and she has extra credit opportunities. You cannot breeze through the class without studying.

This Professor breaks things down and gives you tricks to succeed and explains why things are done a certain way. Do the homework for practice and extra credit to bump up your exam grades and this class will be a cakewalk. Just make sure you know the fundamentals of math before taking her.

I took this professor for Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry. I didn't regret taking her then and now. She goes through the notes very clearly with little to no confusion. Since the virus, online has made it easier because she does the notes live. She goes over any homework questions you have. She's makes math easy and understandable.

Professor Mendoza is an amazing teacher and very passionate about what she does. She tries very hard to make sure her students feel welcome to ask questions, and she is always encouraging us, even when we get stuck on a subject/question. She is interactive even in an online format. Would take a class with her again, and definitely would recommend!

Took 10 semesters of math n she stood apart from all the rest: She is hard and strict about math definitions n theorems, but she cares about students. If you want to succeed down the road, she is the teacher to take. Don't fret about getting an A bc you always did in previous classes - accept the challenge w a teacher who wants to get u prepared.

I hate math thats the only reason I got a C. Shes a great teacher and makes math so easy to understand! Before the pandemic lectures in person were super fun and easy. Once it changed to online it became a little more challenging. I wish I could take her again for Math 1A. :) Overall I really recommend taking her.

Experience may vary, due to me taking this class during the pandemic. Professor Mendoza truly cares about you as a student and an individual. Calculus is not an easy subject, and she doesn't try to hide that. Do not expect an easy A, because she makes you work for it. Even with all of that, I feel like she is the best professor I have ever had.

DO NOT TAKE DR.M if you are looking for an easy class! This is why I believe many people put a bad rating for her. People don't know the difference between a hard class and a bad professor. She is not a bad professor; this is a hard class; the hardest one I've taken. If you are looking for an EZ A; look elsewhere. Only champs stay in her class. :)

Dr. M practices a tough love approach to math where if you need someone to hold your hand, you will fail. She gives you what you need and throws you in the deep end. This is not an easy class and you need to reevaluate how you study if you want to do well. Regardless, I am grateful as I am a lot more confident in myself and more curious about math

Tests are the most important for passing this class. If you are not already good at math, you must put in double the work to do well. You cannot pass calculus if you do not have a good foundational knowledge or put in the work to study. She understands the difficulties of not being talented at calculus; however, you must put in the effort.

I took prof mendoza for online statistic class. I overall enjoyed the class more than I expected. The prof was very easy to talk to and understanding of late work.
