Good math teacher. One of the best in the math dept at brookdale, which is full of horrible instructors. Quizzes throughout the semester are designed to help your grade, combined with 3 exams (non cumul) for the course. The exams are fair. Will grade strait forward, no curve.
You would think that by paying so much for classes, they would be able to hire decent teachers. I regret not leaving this class the first day, and thank god I got out the second. Horrible horrible teacher. She seems to care more about her paycheck than teaching.
THE worst prof i ever had. She has an accent that drove me nuts. She seems like she doesnt want anybody to do well. My two years in Brookdale, i have never seen a teacher like this. Doesnt care at all.
Sprague is the WORST teacher I have ever come across. I was passing at first because of the reports we did each week, but she didn't help me at all whenever I asked for help. She told me to go to the math center which was pointless. It sucks because I waited too long to drop the class and now I got an F for it. Take my advice. Don't take her class.
Not the WORST professor I have ever had. She explains problems thoroughly and goes over all questions in class. biggest downside is no extra credit, in a subject that takes a lot of time to fully grasp. you have to work for it, but she grades fairly and is overall an alright experience.
I can't say I don't like her because she genuinely cares and tries to help as much as possible. However, she doesn't seem to understand the questions the students ask and sometimes forgets that we may not be able to follow her. Very boring, but very fair. I don't think I would recommend her, though.
She is one of the worst teachers i have ever had. She doesn't help you and if you ask her a question and you say that you get it she just goes over it 20 times. Also her accent drove me insane! I really don't think she should be teaching anymore. I hate to do this cause im a nice person but this class was one of my worst.
so hard to understand her! she even writes on the board with incorrect grammar! her tests were next to impossible since she hardly ever goes over what is actually on them! never taking another class she teaches EVER AGAIN!!!!
Pretty Easy teacher. She answered project questions for you, and told you what was going to be on the tests. Sometimes her accent is a little hard to understand, but her grading is pretty easy, and she will help as much as she can!
She's there for a paycheck. Wouldn't answer e-mails and generally unhelpful. This class is tough. Find someone else.
One of the WORST math professors I have ever had. I would not recommend unless this would be a refresher course for you. Tests and quizzes are horrendous. My whole class is failing right now. She is unorganized and loses track of time. Tries to cram an hours' worth of work into 15 min after class has ended. DO NOT TAKE.
I read all the other comments before posting this and don't understand what everyone is griping about. I think she's a really fair teacher. I haven't attended school in almost a decade, so trying to recall my math skills was almost impossible. The first couple weeks, i would appear in her office during her hours and she was more than willing to
i have read the other comments of her and i was really scared taking her. I think the comments that others have put of her is not right. she is a really good teacher and she explains everything. she will help you no matter what, just go to her office and ask for it.
Whomever wrote those previous comments saying how dreadful she is..you all really need to suck it up and get a grip. She is such a nice lady! She hands out labs but then does them with you so you always get a 100 on your lab. She hands out homework packets and doesnt even check them. she explains great. she rocks
Professor Sprague is super sweet, extremely helpful, and makes class fun. She explains everything clearly and relates the subject to real life situations. I HIGHLY recommend taking her, especially if you struggle in math.
Drop the class she is horrible. cant understand her accent at all
Mrs. Sprague was a fantastic math teacher. She helped me excel and she explains everything very thoroughly. She does have an accent but personally I love it and it helps me pay attention more xD. I love math and this woman made me love it more. Taking her again for Calculus (hopefully). I highly recommend her.
Good grader
I've never been a math person, but after taking Trigonometry with her, I just had to take her pre-calc class. Adorable accent. Cares and will take time to make you a math person even if you are not. She grades based on your work, so if you forget a minus sign somewhere and it ruins your final answer, it won't destroy your grade.
Nice enough person, terrible teacher, nothing to do with her accent. Does problems on the board but rarely involves class in lessons. Just look around the room when she teaches, half the class looks confused. Writes illegible notes on the board - stands in front of them - erases them. No graded HW is NOT A GOOD THING! Highly recommend to avoid her.
She is a very helpful teacher. It is really hard to find a teacher who actually cares about your succes in the class. She would use any example to help you understand her class and always offers help and fair with grading. That's why I have her for the second time with a higher math class. I strongly recommend you have her if you can.
Has the wierdest fricking accent in the world. And shes also a very boring teacher. Overall i would avoid like the plague. only reason i took her is cause she was the only one left. And i had already take calc. in h.s.
I take her every chance I get. Her tests are somewhat hard. Do the homework and every quiz = 100% She will do whatever she needs to do to help you. I cant wait to take her for calc 3. I didnt have her for pre-calc..One day i asked her for help while she was walking out the door dressed and ready to go... she dropped everything to help me. AWSOME
Very considerable when you ask even project questions! Qualified professor. However, tests are disaster...
Prof Sprague is a very good teacher. She expalins most things very clearly and straight forward and uses PLENTY of expmples. The only thing that isn't that good about her is her accent. You'll have to get use to that. Other than that she is a great teacher
I've never had such a cold teacher, I would ask her questions and she would give me the shortest possible answer and explain nothing. She's not the worst teacher, and I know other people liked her, but personally I have had A LOT better. If you can take the class with someone else I would recommend doing so.
She begins every class by asking if there are any problems from the homework that she needs to go over before beginning the lesson. Then she covers the material so that you have a complete uderstanding as to how the process is derived. She is patient and repectful of every question and student. I have already registered for her 153 class!
Great Professor, highly recommend her. If you do your homework/reading at home and present her with questions, it's impossible not to do well. She has a very good understanding of all kinds of math and passionate about it as well. gives you the tools to do well on quizzes and tests etc. Her accent really doesn't bother me either...
She is a good teacher and really explains things well, but her tests are extremely long and difficult. This is calculus so it is expected, but she purposely tries to confuse you on tests and quizzes. She also has no mercy for you or your grade. She has no sympathy and will storm into class and rant when someone complains about her tests/quizzes.
she rushes alot
The tests were very difficult. I would not recommend her.
Test's are very long but she is very clear on what will be on the test and how you should approach it. Sometimes She puts questions that you passed over once. If you want an A someone else is probably best. If you want to pass and actually learn. She's great.
She is a awesome professor. She is very helpful and explain the materials very well. The hw is not mendentory but the quiz will be based on the hw. The tests are little bit difficult but if you do the review packet then you will be fine. I highly recommend this professor!
Good teacher. Available to help at her desk. Lessons are well planned. Goes very fast and makes some errors. Could benefit from removing some details and slowing down a bit.
Professor Sprague is wonderful! I had her my first semester and LOVED her class. I found her class very easy. As long as you study the labs, quizzes, and review packet you will get a B+ to an A in the course:)
If you are not naturally good at math, honestly GOOD LUCK. Professor Sprague goes extremely fast through all lessons & when asked to slow down, she has rude remarks & continues at the same pace. She will announce the lowest grade on testsquizzes to the class with no regard to anyones feelings. Quick accusations regarding class average. RETHINK!!
Professor Sprague was a blessing to have as an introduction to Calculus teacher. She is VERY THOROUGH in her lectures which was surprising at first but comforting none the less. I love her!
Absolutely awful. She is not one help at all. She goes through lectures very fast & if you ask her to slow down she will make rude remarks. Doesn't bother to help. I learn more from math assistants and the videos online. Rushes through lectures and then gives you the lab, so she can check her facebook which she should not be doing at work.
I had gone to her for some direction and she was not really too willing to help me, told me to figure out my grade and that I should consider dropping the course.
Yes, i passed the class but I will never take another class with her again! She is very unclear in her lectures along with her accent makes it incredibly hard to understand the material. The math lab along with online tutorials are a lot more helpful that her teaching. She shows you what to do instead of explaining what to do and why it's done
I was very good at math until Calc 2. Accent is SO thick, I was always lost because I didn't understand the problem at hand or because I had no idea what she was saying. Also, she faces the board for the majority of class working out problems and expecting you to follow along and just understand.. Not gonna happen. I would never take her again.
Great professor. Thorough in her steps for every problem and explanations. Very nice woman and always willing to help you. For calculus and math in general, practicing different problems over and over again helps you learn. Overall great teacher, and would definitely reccomend.
She's a very fast pace professor, but will constantly ask if you understand other wise she'll move on. Ask many questions and she will answer. I took her twice, and if possible would take her again. She gives many office hours of availability if help is needed.
Professor Sprague was not an easy teacher to understand. Her lectures are long and she goes through material very fast. She is tough at grading and actually gave me a 70 instead of a 90 because I did not solve it the way she wanted to be done( but it was on the scrap paper) The plus side, she color codes the problems on the board. do not take her.
Her accent is beautiful! Her notes are exceptional! she is a very reasonable grader! Her test reviews are really helpful! You will learn a lot of knowledge by taking her class!
She won't care if there is only one person passing the class. She goes through material very fast and every time she asks the class a question she ends up answering it herself.
I really liked her. Her notes were extremely clear. I understood her lectures no problem. She practically gave out half the answers in the projects. She didn't require the projects be done in a group. Homework was minimal but did help. If you go to class, take notes, follow examples, you'll do fine.
Gabriella Sprague is by far the worst teacher I've ever had . Her test are impossible, ive never takin anything like it. She puts questions on the test that we have never done before in class, and she lies to us about what the test will be like. Our last test was so difficult practically the entire class hadnt finished. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER
I'm amath major at another school & thought it would be a good idea to take a course over the summer near home. i've never failed a math course in my entire life (and two years of college) but the way she yells at me when I ask questions after class & her grading I'm about to (or drop it before I do). she also has a heavy/ hard to understand accent
For starters if you're taking her summer math classes, BEWARE, they are hybrid classes and she might not tell you. Meaning that there will be assignments with due dates on Tuesday even though your class meets on Thursday nights. These assignments can be anything minor as homework but also significant as a quiz...
Today marks my last day in Sprague's Math 152 Summer Course and I've just learned that there is something called "Paper Quizes"... Maybe this is because she never mentioned it being a hybrid class. On the other hand, when in class her accent can be thick for some which can make those 4 hour long summer classes quite difficult to endure.
Run while you can because this class is brutal!! Luckily, i had a great study buddy and we were both able to put in the work to get a passing grade. She literally will go the full 2hrs and 50min in class and does not care. She faces the board the whole time so if you aren't a visual learner, i suggest you leave. Good luck because she is rude.
I graduated from Brookdale as a math major and had Sprague for Calc III. She is very good at explaining difficult concepts. If you have any questions or need help with problems I highly recommend going to her office hours. She is very helpful! Not sure why there are so many bad reviews here, I thought she was quite good and I learned a lot!
I have never felt the need to rate a professor, but this professor students need to be warned about. She is HORRIBLE and very rude when you ask questions. Her grading criteria is confusing and she makes a lot of mistakes
If you're not an auditory learner, she is not for you. She does all the problems on the board herself, never giving other students a chance to do it themselves. She is very smart and knows her math but she's not friendly or easy to communicate with.
horrible teacher don't take her class . faces board the whole time if you ask questions they are most likely wrong to her. says right every five seconds and has a horrible accent no body could understand her. people dropped because it was so bad 3 weeks before semester ended and has subs for classes she cant make
i'm not sure why she has a bad reviews, i really liked hr class. She explains everything very clear and if you attending her classes and paying attention you will pass her class with a good grade. Also, if you have any questions about homework or anything that you don't understand, she has no problem to explain that to you. will take her again!!!
Terrible teacher dont take her unless you want to retake the course. You cant even understand her
Class is extremely fast paced & test heavy. The majority of the tests are no calculator which makes them tedious. Her lectures are fast paced and if you are a visual learner you'll struggle. She talks through the material quickly and you often cannot see the board. She does not answer questions very clearly. LOTS of homework. No grading curve.
she is hard but under standing
The least understanding professor I have ever had. Completely inconsiderate for her students. Does not prepare you for tests well. Hard to understand at first but becomes easier with time. Lacks care for how students perform in her class, but rather has the attitude that its all on the student no matter how well she teaches. Not an easy take.
I'm here to bring some kindness to this page. I took her over the summer and was one of the few that didn't drop. Not the friendliest, but a solid professor. She is hard to understand, but she WILL go back if you ask questions. She doesn't treat you like your dumb, but she does have this tone to her. Overall, take her if you're willing to work.
I took her class over the summer and she is not as terrible as the other reviews. Calculus 2 is a pretty tough class to begin with, however her lectures are great. She really prepares you for the tests with the amount of material given. If you go to all the lectures and do the homework the way she suggests, you will be okay.
I actively avoided Sprague for 2 semesters because of other reviews I had read here beforehand. Yes, her lectures are fast-paced. As long as you have a pencil ready and write everything down, you'll be more than prepared for the next exam. She's not unfriendly. She just cares about you understanding math more than about you liking her as a person.
this class has been miserable, avoid this professor like the plague. You know when a professor is awful when she calls you an idiot for not undersrand the matieral and admitting you need help...
Was a bit nervous after reading some of the comments on here, but shes actually a good professor. Knows her material really well and breaks it down so you can understand it too. Basically does the projects for you so if you hate those TAKE HER, and she drops the three lowest quizzes. Math is supposed to be hard, show up and DO THE HOMEWORK!!!!!!
Test reviews do not match with the tests. Make sure you are constantly studying everything. Her class is hard and her quizzes are even hard as well. She is funny however but very difficulty. She has experience teaching universities but maybe that explains it.
Professor Sprague is the best. So many students are lazy and I think this is why she gets bad reviews. She expects students to work! She holds students to a pretty high standard, so you can really learn from her. If you work, she is happy and helpful and nice! One of the best math professors I ever had!
Sprague can straight up teach. She is clear and to the point and really smart and nice. She cares about her students, I highly recommend.
Prof Sprague is an excellent and will bend over backwards to help you, as long as your do your part. You can learn so much from her if you put in the effort. She is the absolute best.
You can tell she really cares about her students. Her class is structured by the syllabus to a T. She drops lower grades and let's you retake tests. People in my class liked to argue with her and make fun of her, which made the class suck.
She gives an INSANE (sometimes 120 questions to be done in a day) amount of homework, makes you feel dumb when you ask a question and she accuses everyone of not paying attention (when in reality she doesn't explain concepts very well). She overcomplicates every easy problem which makes simple concepts more confusing. Take someone else.
I took her twice because she's really good. Extremely clear instruction, tough but fair grader. I think she's also a Rutgers prof and it shows. She clearly understands math inside and out. If you are willing to put the work in to her class, you should have no trouble learning the material.
Horrible Professor. Her tests are so hard anf she talks to you like youre stupid. Worst professor at Brookdale. Dont take her
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. She's someone of poor character and it shows always assumes negative intent and downright just not a nice person and I wish I could say more but I don't want to be mean. I just caution any student who sees this please trust me u have great potential but if you take this class you'll never see it and think you're dumb for it.
She is downright mean. Dont take her!
Sprague hates students. She makes math hard and Im good at math she doesnt help.
This lady cares about herself not us She stares at the board the whole class and doesnt look at you and is a snob, makes you feel stupid if you ask her a question. Worst Professor ever.
Her tests are impossible! if you ask for help she is annoyed. She is not a good teacher she holds a grudge s she wants you to be perfect
Eh no. Dont do it. Youre warned.
Professor Sprague is arrogant and you cant ask questions without her condescending attitude to make you feel bad. She gives hard tests and is like military people. Just no.
Too much work for precalculus its hard to get it done. Professor Sprague is not the worst but she is not good at explaining . She doesnt like teaching I think.
I took her for Calculus II over the summer. She is definitely not a bad professor but the rushed nature of the class shows. She covers everything only once and does not provide many examples. To stay understand a topic, it is definitely important to do all of the homework, online and optional. There are only three tests, which are very difficult.
Professor Sprague gave tests and quizzes with umlimited time on Webassign. She teaches okay but not great. All the examples we do in class are too hard. I would not recommend her.
She just reads off the powerpoint, doesn't get the student involved. And if you have trouble with math, you are going to have to teach yourself. Her attitude with students is terrible. She doesn't try to help you at all. She's very short with students. Don't get me wrong she is nice but not a good teacher. TRY NOT TO TAKE THIS CLASS
had her for 025 and 026 at Rutgers because of the great things said here. -drops 3 lowest quizzes and grades. -often displays her aggravation in her tone when students asks questions. -explains in unnecessary depth which tends to get real boring. *Elliot Collins is a horrible teacher by the way
This Professor is horrible/extremely mean, do yourself a favor and choose any other section but this one. She doesn't know how to teach, extremely boring 2 hours. Doesn't know how to use the applications assigned to her. She never stays on topic in class. No one in class has any idea of what she's talking about. You will never learn in this section
I had Prof Sprague at Rutgers and overall if you pay close attention to everything you say, you will do well. Stop paying attention, you will do bad. It's as simple as that. The exams were pretty difficult but she prepares you well
Prof. Sprague doesn't explain things so I can understand. She is not explaining well and she doesn't care about her teaching and it shows. quizzes are too hard and everyone the class on groupme is frustrated.
She acts nice but gets mad fast for no reason. She is an okay teacher nothing great. I don't recommend anyone take her class.
I'm not sure why Professor Sprague has such a low rating. She was great! Very easy to understand, teaches everything in detail, if you pay attention, you will definitely pass this class. I would recommend her and would definitely take her again if I had to.
If you are able to keep your head down and not say anything correcting her then take her. If you have a slight problem with something a solution may never happen even if she is 100% wrong. If you need accommodations she may never properly accommodate you even if you bring it up to her, she will she no wrong in what she does. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She teaches with her hand on her cheek. Homework is not 100 percent on what is taught in class and the test is like the web assign questions so the questions on tests does not completely match what's taught .I would recommend you not to take her class. Too much material taught per class, one chapter per class with multiple sections to each chapter.
Professor Sprague is very unprofessional made me feel very degraded as a person, by just asking for a simple question. During her lectures, she does a poor job of explaining assignments and material. When asking for a question regarding my grade, had a response with hurtful and mean emails. Do not take this class.
Professor Sprague is great. Knows what she is talking about, lessons are good, can be condescending at times but with enough questions will get you where you need to go. The class is hard, and you will have to budget time well and study quite a bit. But, if you pay attention and study hard, the class is more than doable, as she grades very fairly.
I honestly zones out during most of the classes and still passed. shes very forgiving with getting rid of low grade assignments, but gives a ton of homework and tests. Super lecture heavy and I couldn't pay attention and she honestly does not care about you outside of school. The class is just a passing class.
i dropped her class after the second week. This was my second college math class coming from a 4 year university and her class is harder. She expects you to know what to do in an INTRO class. She expects too much work from students who have 4 other classes to handle. Too much material taught in class for one chapter, it's hard to grasp the lesson.
Reading her reviews and watching her explain the syllabus and course work, made me understand what these student were talking about on here! I dropped the class immediately. she expects too much work from students with little understanding on the material and gets defensive and annoyed if you ask questions or come across confused.
as an interior design major work load is not an issue with me. i have projects that take 18 hours to do. This Professor expects 8+ hours of homework on material that she barely taught. She puts too much information up, that it gets confusing and her tests are impossible. she gets offended when all the students don't understand what we're learning.
If you want to genuinely learn anything about math, DO NOT take this professor's classes. She expects every student to know what to do and barely goes over any material before leaving you to work on the exercises she provides. In addition, the homework rarely if ever covers the material brought up in class. Absolutely terrible.
I would give her a 0 if I could. So disrespectful, and gives way too much work and not enough help.
I can't believe I actually paid money to sit in a classroom with her. Yes, she is smart BUT extremely cold, disrespectful, lacks empathy/sympathy, and emotionally unkinder. Being a professor at any learning institution, you should be smart AND emotionally reciprocal. Everybody deserves to be treated with dignity, the students pay her salary!
If you ask her a question she immediately becomes defensive and if you still can't understand the material, she'll just either get more defensive, more annoyed, shrug you off, or look at you like a deer with headlights. You feel totally humiliated when you ask a question and that person just repeats the same thing over and over again.
2 or 3 years ago, I missed some assignments because my mother was hospitalized with pneumonia and was having a hard time kicking it because she has asthma. When I approached her with my reason, I was totally honest and held nothing back. She stared right into my eyes and, loudly, started repeating the class syllabus word for word. She's horrible
Honestly, she is beneath the title or role of a professor or associate professor at BCC. Pure laziness and unenthusiasm in her teaching. There are professors at BCC who will positively alter the course of your life compared to her. I hate to say that way, but I have to say it like it is because nothing is more important than the truth. I've seen it
Being smart means nothing if you lack a heart. Being smart means nothing if you lack passion or enthusiasm in your teaching. Being smart is worthless if you refuse to share your knowledge. I've never seen anyone become so defensive over a question in my years of learning, especially when she's either distracted on her laptop or phone. Shameful!
These ratings are pretty harsh. As someone who is not very good at math, She is very good at making things simple to understand. I enjoyed her class. She posts all her homework so you can be ahead of the game, very nice lady. She also only takes attendance at the end of class so as long as you show up at some point you get credit to be there.
Honestly, from reading these reviews and comparing them to actually being in a class taught by her, I 100% confirm and concur everything that has been said about Ms. Sprague here. Obviously, she is a professor who simply doesn't care and just wants a paycheck. I really wish I saw these comments before I allowed myself to enter a course with her.
Agreed, she gives work, which is not a bad thing, but if want help understanding something, her response: "What do you not understand? You take this, you do that, and it equals this?" or like she emphasizes at the beginning of the semester, "Go to the math lab". The math lab is good advice but you also sit in class for a purpose too.
She hardly involves the students, she only tends to the computer textbook, she never pauses to recap concepts, and she doesn't invite student involvement. She tends to be offended and develop a scentful attitude when she's proven wrong about something, she blazes through each lesson so fast it's hard to understand or keep track of what she's saying
She doesn't communicate or ensure understanding of concepts and theories with students and repeats only the textbook word for word and not genuine personal engagement. Her negative, dismissive, and ignorant attitude definitely doesn't help to yield a positive and conducive learning environment. Negativity is mentally and emotionally degrading
It's perfectly okay to give work, but you have to be willing to critically teach. Otherwise, what's the point? Holy, I've never seen a professor with such rude manners, too, and I normally don't say that about professors. Her negativity also causes her to give off an unapproachable vibe. Don't waste your money on such a miserable, sham professor.
Although I did not enjoy this class with Ms. Sprague, I think that many of these reviews are harsh. I took a zoom class and did not listen/understand as well as I could've. She seemed passionate about the subject, but did not slow down very much. She did ask if anyone had any questions at the end of each concept.
She is very lecture heavy and talks extremely fast to the point where its hard to understand her. She moves from topic to topic while most of the class doesn't even know what's going on.
If anyone is thinking about taking a course with Gabriela Sprague, DON'T. She is the worst educator I have ever had. She is not clear about anything and is not helpful in class whats so ever. She is also incredibly rude when emailed and she is not approachable in class. She is the worst.
Makes mistakes easily in class when you try to correct her she simply says you are wrong. Gives way too much homework. Is hard to get in contact with outside of class.
She's always lecturing her students about how unambitious and unadventurous young people are. That may be true for some outside her class, however definitely not the students who sit before her. This is community college, not public education K-12. You're only there if you want to be there. There's no law requiring a college education. Discouraging
I loved Professor Sprague her class was so easy just show up and do the work and will definitely pass.
I think she hates teaching and hates students. Beware. Do not take her.
I took her for Calculus II as a visiting student during a summer semester about 2 years ago when classes were online. From what I remember she was a good professor, and significantly easier than my full-time college. I resent all the negative reviews (mostly from students who seemed to drop her course). Study and do her homework.
This class is an endurance test. The subject isn't the difficult part. It's her apathy. There might as well not even be a teacher. Never try asking her for help, because she can't stand surprises. Asking leads to her ghosting or ridiculing you. You're largely teaching yourself. A pretty common theme. Homework was the smallest issue, by far.
So I took pre-calc with professor Sprague and it was pretty rough. She is clearly very good at math, and is able to do intense calculations without writing out her work, which is impressive, but leads to useless notes of her class. I will say that she wants you to pass, and will give many opportunities to do so. If you don't give up, you'll pass.
Professor Sprague lets you redo your tests if you fail to get the points back. I even submitted my test and she gave me back the points and it wasn't even right! It's a breeze.
Doesn't care about her students at all, not understanding whatsoever, & very inflexible. Extremely insensitive & rude in her emails. No extension even in the case of a tragic family death (didn't even extend condolences). Made me work 3x as hard for the grade I needed. Even used attendance against me when it's not mandatory in her syllabus.
Disrespectful, doesn't give any care for her students and what they are going through. Brookdale is a shame for having her still as a professor.
This professor has given up on teaching and its obvious. She doesn't explain anything clear. Better off taking her as distance education because you basically teach yourself in person anyways. Don't take this class. I WARNED YOU! also none of the homework on canvas matches with the assignments she gives in class.
Prof Sprague is a very caring professor. She wants her students to do well and helps them along the way! She was always willing to clarify things and go over the tough stuff. Highly recommend taking her, you won't regret it!
If you do poorly with tests, do NOT take a class with Professor Sprague. She does not seem to respect accommodations as granted and with this class grade being 80% tests, that's a huge problem. Mine were not granted properly due to communication breakdowns, causing me to nearly fail this class. Would drop out instead of dealing with her again.
This professor is by far the worst teachers I have ever dealt with. She is extremely rude. She does not extension even when I was dealing with family death, nor did she give her condolences. She is the least bit understanding and is extremely rude over email. I would never take her class not even because of the work but because of her as a teacher.
Please do not take, she cannot teach. She had a sub come in and he was much better, I learned more from him than I did from her any day
Gabriela's class is quite challenging, but using Unstuck ai and the free textbook can really help. Stay engaged and you'll get through it.
Couldn't leave class early even if needed. Homework was crazy and there was so much. Tests were okay but some unclear as to what they were like midterm or exam.
Did not explain how to do homework, heavy accent, hard material that you have to teach yourself
Worst professor I've ever had at Brookdale. Had incomplete material uploaded to canvas. Tests are way harder than homework. She has an accent and is difficult to follow. Best of all, she responds rudely via email. Avoid her at all costs.
I would take her again if I had to but definitely not my first pick. Good for people who like math, she is very knowledgeable but goes very fast and sometimes skips writing algebra steps assuming you know what's happening. Could've explained some concepts better but overall not as bad as some of the other reviews are saying.
Professor Sprague does not care about her students success and will not accommodate for you. Very test heavy. If you do not pass a test it is hard to get your grade back up from it. Work does not match quizzes or homework.
She is by far the worst professor I have ever had. She asks questions about material on tests that we have not covered yet. She is defensive and unhelpful in office hours. She is disorganized to the extreme. She does not answer emails if she doesn't feel like it. She does not understand the material she is teaching. It's actually shameful.
Would've rated higher as she does drop the five worst homework grades by the end of the semester, but I genuinely haven't had a worse experience with a teacher. Very rude when answering questions of my classmates. Teaches formulas in a very complicated way. Lecture is painful to sit through, had to self-learn with online resources after her class.
