Moved too slow at the begining (easy work) that we were racing at the end (harder math). Kudos for this teacher in test prep, she gives a test review for homework, wish I could have taken her again!
Take math from Gabrielle. She is so clear it would be impossible for you not to understand the material. She does lots of examples in class. She's not too tough. Take math from her.
A great math teacher. She is very clear and helpful. Also, her tests are pretty similar to her review sheets. So I strongly recommend her.
Great teacher and fun to learn from.
Best math teacher I ever had. She is very clear in her explanations. Answered all questions in a helpful and incouraging manner. Great test reviews!
She is the bomb dot com. Weekly quiz, 4 disscussion posts, and three exams. Organized, clear-cut. Way to go Gabrielle!
She is a rarity, because she really knows how to TEACH math. She is clear and considerate, one step at a time on the concepts. This in not a lazy teacher or one of those who expects you to know the material before you take the class. She answers every question(difficult or easy), and makes sure you understand the concepts. BEST MATH TEACHER!!!
She is BY FAR the best teacher I've ever had. She gives reviews before exams that actually is IN the exams and she gives a heads up on whats on the quizzes. Homework is good. I wish she taught ALL math classes. THANK YOU GABRIELLE! PLEASE TEACH MORE CLASSES!
Gabrielle really helped me get over my fear of Math! She is clear and gives logical steps to solving problems. Attendance is key with this class, so if you show up and are prepared, you will do great.
Gabrielle is the best math teacher ever!!! Trust me, take her class and you won't regret it! She is a nice and very useful teacher! She's willing to answer any question that you have! You can get 1 bonus point for every quiz and 5 bonus points for the exam! The best part is that the quizzes and the exams will be similar to what she covers in class.
I took calculus with her and she is an AMAZING teacher. I did WAY better in calculus then i did in Pre-cal. she teaches SO well and is very clear what is going to be on the tests and quizzes. Always do your homework and if you have questions she is very helpful! highly recommend her.
really good teacher. She explains everything so well. I highly recommend taking her class
LOVE THIS TEACHER :*
Gabrielle is a wonderful teacher; absolutely clear on every concept, worked hard to make sure everyone understood what was being discussed. Homework was easy, as long as you actually took the time to do it. Test reviews were extremely helpful! Highly recommend her.
awesome teacher! Even though I found the class to be useless (its for the university transfer) I can't blame anything on her, she is very fair and helpful. She's always prepared for lectures and actually shows that she cares about her job, she doesn't waste your time, and every lecture was useful. Do your homework and you will pass this class.
i did not pass this class, but Gabrielle was very easy to work with, her lectures are easy to follow, and she is very approachable. She worked very closely with me so my poor grade is not at all a reflection on her teaching style.
Really helpful and easy teacher. She gives a lot of extra credit. The way extra credit works is that she puts in the extra points automatically and takes away points if you miss a problem. So if you miss nothing, you get all the extra credit plus full points. There are 3 exams, and she drops lowest one. She is helpful and makes you understand calc.
She is an amazing teacher. She actually made me understand everything about math. Make sure you come to class if you really don't understand material. She's a fair grader and she will definitely help you to do well in her class. Her tests and quizzes are fair because it's everything that she teaches in class. Make sure you do the homework.
I think Gabrielle is an excellent teacher. She is approachable and is devoted to the student's success. Subject material at times can be difficult to learn but she uses all of her teaching skills to make sure you understand. She is a true example of what a college professors should be like. I Highly recommend her for any of your math requirements.
She is clear and great at teaching. Just spend the time and do the webassign homework and you will do great.
This is absolutely by far the best teacher I have ever had. She is so helpful and made me love Calculus. Everything on the Exams is consistent with the homework and no surprise questions. I love her! If you need this class, you really need to take Gabrielle!!! :)
By far best teacher i've had. She set my expectations for what a teacher should be: prepared, fair, organized, engaging, walks you through every step of the problem. Light HW load. Gives you 3 chances to retake quizzes for the two really hard sections 100% recommend her! show up on time, ask questions you will get a good grade and still understand
This is a quite easy class (I have a study group that makes it easier). She grades slow and seldom check her email. She teaches so fast but her quiz & tests are easy. Her hw in webassign is harder, but she provides videos of the materials. If you have friends that ever took her class, you better ask for their old stuff bcos her quiz &test are alike
Gabrielle is an amazing teacher, she goes the extra mile and is willing to do what it takes to help her students learn the material, even at the expense of her own time.
I took Business Calculus with her online. She was open for questions and wanted to see her students pass. Move through material very quickly and I almost fell behind. Overall: Great teacher and Hard class!
B+ in precalc, I've never gotten above a D before ever! Takes the time to show you how to work through problems. Also is great about working the problems step by step in front of class to show you how things are/can confuse you. I couldn't take her for Calculus, but she was willing to help me even after I left her class! She wants you to succeed!
Make sure you pay 100% attention in class she covers the material pretty fast. Tests are very hard. Quizzes every week that are hard. Assigns a lot of hw. Not many ec opportunities. Watch her math youtube videos those are the most helpful. Doesn't announce when activities are. Class can be boring. She gets irritated quick sometimes.
I took math 140 prior to this class with a different professor and I have to say that Gabrielle is an awesome professor! She answered all of my emails promptly and gave helpful feedback that actually helped me learn the material. I recommend taking her course if you need math 148 for your degree!
Wonderful prof. I have never rated a prof, but felt she was worth the time. Extremely helpful and willing. Very understanding and communicates efficiently. Not an easy A, unless you are willing to work for it. I also struggled with pre-calc but am excelling here. Definitely recommend her!
I usually never rate a professor, but I like the previous user felt she deserves all the praise she gets. She is very clear, competent, and fair. One of the best professors I ever had. If you work hard, you will be successful with her.
I can tell that she is a hard worker. She graded all assignments + exams quickly (within 3 days). She does assign much HW, but if you do good, you can ace the quizzes and exams because all are based on HW. She always makes EVERY meeting counts. Make sure you don't miss any, or you'll lose points on the in-class group assignments.
She is very quick at grading, which is awesome. However she teaches straight from the textbook, and I find that quite boring. Good class.
She is so nice and knowledgeable. Offers extra credit for your missing homework points by doing some exercises before the exams. Grades fairly and fast. Take her class and get 4.0 without doubts!
I completely recommend her bubble gum lessons, amazing teacher.
She's so clear in her lessons, schedule, etc. Extremely well-thought out lessons and teaching, and she has a way of explaining concepts that make the material easy to take in. Math teachers like this hard are hard to come by. I highly suggest students attend all workshops, as they help tremendously and give important extra points on the exams!!!
The fact that she speaks very articulated does mean nothing in the mathematics field. Just for the fact that you are very well English speaking is not related about how good you are in this specific field. Sorry to say these but I have PHD'S teaching me what she gave to me in a better and more professional way.
I like the online class better because you get 1 hour for quizzes and you don't miss any in class graded assignments. Also there are super helpful math videos and I recommend watching all of them for each section. A lot of hw tests are average difficulty. Teacher is helpful with office hours and prompt at grading and answering questions.
She is so funny and easy-going. She always keeps the class busy and interesting. An easy grader. Many chances to have extra points in homework. You get help with homework every time you ask.
she's the hardest teacher ever. she's really rude and unclear. I always get 4.0 in my math classes but with her I've a really low grade. I don't recommend her. because the way she teaches is really complicated and tough. don't taker her class.
She is great in grader, if you for some reasons do not do well in Midterm, try your best in Final. Your Midterm score will be increase if your Final score is high. Her teaching skill is not bad, though still a bit confusing in little parts but it can be ignorable.
She is crystal clear. The clearest and fairest math teacher I've ever had. Not sure I got a perfect GPA, because of my strong background in math, or the class just were easy. Would've taken her again in calculus but she doenst teach calculus for engineers and scientists
She is the BEST math teacher ever! She makes business calculus so much easier and she genuinely cares about her students. Once I argued for points on my homework and she stayed after class and walked me through each step patiently. I definitely recommend taking her class if you are just as frightened by calculus as I am!
She is the best teacher in business math! I took her M140 & M148. I like her step-by-step teaching style and she answers all of your questions carefully. Business calculus itself is quite difficult but there is nothing wrong with her grading system. The quizzes are not too easy but not too difficult. need to attend in order to catch all of lectures
She is inspirational about calculations with good health and the prices of ground beef that suffers maximum and minimum points where the slope is not well defined.
Now understand when you put one or less pound in your body completely change your opinion about everything. Real science and health represents a better future.
How much I love this teacher is shown by the fact I've taken business calculus AND business precalculus with her with 4.0 in both classes. She's super helpful as long as you ask questions and even then her lectures are really helpful because she's great at explaining. She makes learning easy and fun, I'm going to miss having her!
I never understood as a single mother how important is education for my family, ready to pay taxes 2015 and I am ready for it. You gave us inspiration about where were our weight numbers go. I am going miss you so much.
Very clear and easy to work with. Math is not my best subject, but she explains concepts well and in a way that makes sense consistently throughout the quarter. Will be taking buscalc with her this summer. If you want to learn the math, this is your gal!
I really loved this instructor. She genuinely cares about her students success and she puts in the time to help them comprehend the subject as best they can. The downside is that you can put in 4.0 of effort and come out with a lower grade than that.
Best math teacher at EDCC, you can ask anyone, they will tell you the same thing. Her classes book up fast, so register early. Clear grading criteria and consistent teaching process throughout the quarter, lessons are well prepared and organized. Not a math person, and yeah the material is hard, but I could not have done this well with another prof
Gabrielle is amazing. I sincerely suck at math but she makes it so clear. I took this course online which was risky, but i went into her office hours all the time. Every single time, she welcomed me with a smile and sat down and throughly explained all the questions i had. She really cares about her students and is a fair grader. Tests can be hard.
Very nice teacher. If you study you will find the tests are easy. Always right to the point. The examples show in class are very typical and clear. Great professor. Care about the students.
Gabrielle is a spectacular professor. She teaches her students step by step instructions and is so helpful on tough material. Definitely recommended.
Gabrielle really helps out her students, and tries her best to make sure that each student understands her lectures and the homework. Although the final was a bit hard compared to the other tests, she is an exceptional teacher who is always more than happy to help!
Good instructor, she explain everything clearly and she give enough exercise for you to be prepare for test.
Gabrielle is a spectacular professor. She cannot be more clear on explaining problems. She even provides a step by step process in order to solve a problem. There's no surprises. If you study, you will find her exams and final easy. She's big on group work she knows if you participate or not. Overall she is a treasure and a one of a kind educator.
She is a good professor. I took her MATH 140 and MATH 148 courses. She will give exam guide to students and give the chance to improve their grade if they correct the mistakes in their exams. She must be one of the best teachers in MATH 140 and MATH 148 courses.
She must be one of the best teachers in MATH 140 and MATH 148 courses.
She is good at teaching lower level math courses like business precalc or calculus but not for higher level math
Tough teacher. Doesn't care about students. I went to her office multiple times and she always seemed annoyed. Marks you down for every little detail on tests, and gives you a load of questions on exams in limited time. My class's average for exams is all below a 70%, which also reflects her teaching. Acts as if she doesn't want students to pass.
GPA Killer. If you seriously don't care about your GPA, then take this class. By far the worst teacher at EDCC. Teaches fast, then when the end of the quarter comes she goes over the last section in 2 days. Comprehensive final, but 90% of it is what you "learned" in the last section, which she only took 2 days to go over. No Extra credit either.
I honestly don't know about the last three negative comments about Gabrielle. Shes the best professor to take for all the business math classes. Her lectures are clear and informative. And besides, she's a fair grader and wants all of her students to succeed. She works really hard to make sure everyone understands the material
She is one of the best math teacher. I took her Math 148 and Math 140. She won't give you too much homework. You can talk to her if you need extra time for your homework. Two exams and seven quizzes. You can get extra credits by correcting your mistakes in your exams.
Really great teacher that will make sure you understand the materials. She really does care about how her students are doing and wants everyone to understand. She does run out of time a lot in class, and gives A TON of homework, even by math class standards. She gives multiple opportunities for extra credit.
I took her for bus calc a year ago. She was an awesome instructor. I learned a lot in her class. Her class helped in managerial econ (econ 300) at uw. Take her! you wont regret it.
Actually her lecture wasn't really bad, but if you know nothing or you have no preparation at all before going to class, you might probably have no idea what's going on in class. She also teaches really fast. She's also a tough grader, you have to do it in her way and can't missed any details if you want a good grade.
She is a great teacher. Gives you step by step procedures. Must study hard and listen to what hints she gives for problems. Participation/ staying engaged is what helped me prepare for quizzes and tests. Ask questions if needed.
I loved Gabrielle's class! She's a true and one of a kind. Math is not my strong suit and she made me confident through out the quarter. I finished the class learning a lot about applied calculus and how it relates to economics. Her quizzes can be challenging but she's a wonderful instructor! TAKE HER!!
After failing Math 112 at UW, I took this class online during the summer and I'm so glad I did! I was hesitant about taking an online class, but she was very helpful. A big part of your grade is the discussion board where you have to ask and answer questions from your peers. The tests were extremely fair, even though class moves fast so focus!
She is a great teacher! She really cares that you understand and do well but be prepared for group work. You do a lesson then group work and sometimes you get stuck with people who don't care and you loose points which impacts your grade. 6 quizzes total, if you pay attention and do your work you will do just fine. Go to class or you get confused.
Miss Gabrielle is extremely kind and caring. She cares about students so being in her class doesn't stress me out like others. Highly recommended!!
Wonderful math teacher, very clear lecture.
She is a very nice person and best teacher. Her lecture is straight forward. Her tests and exams are really nice. Do the activity probs and homeworks that she assign and u will be on top. Also u should do VPA pretty much everyday. But VPA is like 3 online question ( very easy). THANK YOU GABRIELLE FOR MAKING MY LIFE EASY. Continue being awesome.
Gabrielle has a solid online math format. It's very consistent and pretty manageable as long as you sit down to do the homework. About 1-2 math assignments per week and a discussion. Exams are fair and offers extra credit for doing a review in preparation. Her videos are drab, (but it is math), but she is available to help when falling behind.
Definitely one of the best teachers I've had! She is very caring and helpful. Always understanding of others' situations and willing to give more time and help whenever need be. I was a little skeptical before taking this class, but now, I have already registered for my next math class with her. You won't regret taking her class.
I took this instructors class for whole 15X series and now she is also offered in 254! I like the way she teach the class, very understanding if you prepare for the class. You should be fine on exam if you review your group activity, book homework. But 4.0 is not easy, because there are so many things will count toward your grade.
She's a wonderful instructor who is willing to help in any way she can if you're willing to do the work. Lecture videos are very easy to follow and she responds quickly to questions.
Gabrielle is an amazing professor. She cares about the student's success and is fair to all. I'm not very good at math but if you want to get a 4.0. Please do the homework. Ingest all the information during the lectures, and do the homework. I would recommend doing it with a group. You get to help and elaborate ideas. I was in math 87 before this.
I never studied, passed with a 3.5. However, please do the homework and usually, the hardest ones won't be on quizzes or exams. Try to make friends and take notes during lectures. I never studied in 140 either, got a 4.0 and I was in math 87 before that. Trust me when I tell you to just do the homework and do mental math exercises. You got this!!
Probably the best teacher I have ever had. She really cares and makes an effort to help! My course is online and she has the best organized class i have ever seen!! Absolute 10/10 best math teacher ever!
She is such a good teacher. She is super caring and will help you if you need. She is easy to contact and will make time to sit down with you if you cant make office hours.
Here's my short take: She's a solid teacher; pay attention, show up, do your work there and home, and then you can expect good results. Two issues: She teaches fast, but this is only bad if you refuse to ask questions. Second MAJOR no for me about this teacher is that she fails to mention that in order to do HW, you need to drop $110 for a code.
Really bad this quarter. Crammed everything and blamed it on three days lost on snow week; ridiculous. Due to the cramming, there was not enough time to fully absorb chapter lessons and ended up with a C- average on the second exam. Horrible. Says the final exam will consist of a chapter we haven't even completed yet. Hopefully shes better later on
Gabrielle is the best math teacher I ever had! Her lectures are clear, sometimes she is a little fast , but only because each student is at a different pace. It is okay to ask questions and she will explain again if needed. She wants every student to succeed, and even offers office hours outside of class. Show up, listen and do homework, study.
Professor McIntosh is one of my favorite teacher in Edmonds, so far. During this pandemic she is very supportive & understanding. You can ask her during her office hours and she will be happy to help you. She is willing to give you 2nd chance on quizzes. If you're doing all of the homework and watch all of the video from her, you'll get an A.
In summer class, she graded by few things - HW (75), video assignment(100), weekly forum(30), announcement quiz(10), quiz(125) and final exam(60) - made up a total of 400 points. She drops some quizzes and video assignments. Just do what she gave you, watch the videos, and jot good notes and you will do well in quizzes. Final was hard, though.
Taking this class and trying to understand what she's trying to teach is like unraveling a ball of yarn. It seems like she didn't even try to make a curriculum. Everything is just thrown at you. Awful videos, bad textbook, and homework doesn't prepare you for quizzes. This is coming from a 3.7+ GPA math student. Avoid if you can.
Sadly the worst professor I have ever had. Choose to take her because of al her good reviews. She falls significantly short and has not hope for being a good online teacher. If you in any way need instruction in a different way. She won't help. If you can't do a 100% online class during M-F 9-5. You won't pass, she has a strict time limit.
I took McIntosh online twice, once in Fall (did not pass) and again in Spring. She definitely refined her curriculum and has adapted well to the online format. 152 is difficult, but if you watch her recorded lectures or are lucky enough to attend a virtual class or office hours, you'll do great! Her explanations helped immensely
I've had at least 6-8 assignments from her every week. The homework and exam problems are very different. It feels like what I'm being taught and what I'm being tested on are completely different. And the textbook is terrible.
Well-organized course content, highlighting the key points of each chapter, and a reasonable amount of assignments. Not a lot of homework, but it does cover key points.
McIntosh is nit-picky when it comes to grading your assessments. If you correctly answer the test questions and clearly show your work, their maybe times where she doesn't give you credit for your work. Her classwork also doesn't correspond to her assessments and she waits until the next quarter if you ask to review your final exam. SIGN UP & FAIL.
Ive never had a teacher that would tell me to see her the next school year if I had questions regarding my final by giving me her personal email. The amount of HW she gave us was insane and her HW does not correspond with her exams. Her intention is to fail students rather than helping them. Do yourself a favor and avoid taking any class with her.
This is the worst professor I've ever had. Her reviews sounds good for similar reason, but so does her flaws . She falls significantly short when you need to be taught in different methods and gives strict time limits on exams. A recent comment mentioned how she gives 2nd chances on quizzes, but I can assure you, this is far from true. Avoid her!
I did not pick this professor but last minute was switched to her. I consider myself pretty strong at math but the way she grades feels like she purposefully wants students to fail. She takes off points for the smallest things and problems I got correct just because my work isn't how she wanted.
I've had so many hard things happening this semester and I agree that's not an excuse but she is possibly the most uncaring professor I've ever had. She doesn't help you in any way. I don't know why some of her reviews are good, but no thanks
Got switched to this class. Gives out too much homework, very picky with time and when assignments are due. So much homework that DOESN'T correlate to the exams. Exams are much harder and she's such a harsh grader. Really picky on every detail and isn't the best at teaching. No notes on tests and doesn't give much opportunities. Wouldn't recommend!
Avoid this professor. Shes very strict/picky with grading and doesnt provide many opportunities to raise your grade. Coursework is heavy. Only pro: she is easily accessible outside of class. For exams, we were not allowed notes and had little time. Exams were incredibly more difficult than HW too. Was a 4.0 math student until I took her class.
Do not take calc with Professor McIntosh. She assigns so much homework with little time to complete it. There are tests every two weeks and the exam questions are completely different that homework questions she gives us. She takes points off for small things and she is not a caring person at all. Do not take this class if you dont want to fail.
Worse class ever. Way too much homework that doesnt even prepare you for exams or final. Difficult exams every two weeks with very strict time limits (5 total) but you get to drop one. Final is with 100 points. Her office hours were no help. Take this class and youre setting yourself up for failure. Im a 4.0 student and did not pass this class.
This class has been a nightmare. I'm a 4.0 student and this was beyond unbearable. She wants you to fail. The exams were super hard and did not correlate whatsoever with the homework and activities we did. She has a passive-aggressive behavior towards her students and her office hours are useless. I'm literally so traumatized.
My biggest suggestion is to listen to the most recent reviews under this one because they are true. The reviews all sound the same but they are not from the same person, it was a collective experience. Tests were hard and different from HW. The final was extremely difficult and was the first one I've EVER failed. Run the other direction if you can.
This professor gives out assignments that have time restrictions and has them due almost everyday. All the work does not correlate to the exams she creates and especially the final exam. The final was truly one of the hardest tests I took and all her questions were different from what we've learned. Don't take this class unless you seek failure.
The most recent reviews are as accurate as it gets. The homework being taught and the quizzes are completely different subjects.Homework was due almost everyday and the time it takes to understand the concepts just adds on to the workload. Her office hours helped but it didn’t make up for her inadequate teaching.Still traumatized from this class.
I took both Math 151 and Math 152 from McIntosh. The courses both had the same format - video assignments, homework, activities and exams. The activities could be challenging but she always gave a lot of help in office hours and email. They helped you for the exam. Overall the class was really organized and I would take her again.
This course was very organized and the teacher had created videos for each section herself and then there was an assignment that asked questions related to the video. The exams weren't hard and there were practice exams that weren't that different from the real exam. She was super quick in responding to email too. Great class!
wow, horrible teacher, such a harsh grader, tests are way toooo hard and she doesn't even give you any info on what you should review or a review packet. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DONT TAKE HER
There would be quiz every Mon or Tues about the topic that was covered the day before, there will be online hw nearly everyday, but PCA would shorter and the actually long hw would be in the weekend. Paper hw is also a thing but it's not that long. Though that class isn't that hard, it's time consuming, so sign up for lighter other class.
I love prof. McIntosh
MATH153 is a difficult class but she teaches it well. She is always available for help if you do not fully understand a topic, and her weekly quizzes are weighted lightly (~8% of total grade) but they pushed me to master the content and study regularly. Grading is strict but reasonable.
Great teacher! Calc III can be tricky but she did a good job explaining everything. Sometimes I didn't get the topic from just watching the videos but after she went over it in class it was much clearer. Fair grader, doesn't take off an unreasonable amount of points for silly mistakes. PCAs feel tedious but means class time is more worthwhile.
McIntosh is pretty chill and wants to see you succeed. She gives decent lectures and video assignments before HW. The midterm and final are very fair so if you understand what you do in class and pay attention and review the material she puts out, you'll be good. Also she recommends students spend 8+ hours a week studying, but that's not true.
she was a really good teacher, I enjoyed her teaching style. Stay on top of the daily-ish homework (maybe like every other day), and you'll be fine. I only spend less than 30 minutes on this class a day.
I took Gabrielle McIntosh back in Winter 2016. She is an excellent professor and really cared for her students success. I really enjoyed calculus and econ after taking her class that I majored in it after Edmonds CC. There's plenty of homework and assignments, but it truly prepares you for the exams.
