i like the way he teaches and his willingness to help us outside the classroom. He is always in his office during his office hours

I didn't think i'll like this class, but he is making it so interesting that i look forward to go to the class.

I liked his culture class although sometimes it seemed too relaxed and others too strict

I love Dr. Semaan. He knows his material and makes the class easy and fun, sometimes strict on tests. I laughed in every class and it was something to look for. I wish he had more classes conducted in English. We need more profs like him.Good, fun and hot.

Best professor I have ever had.He made the class very interesting. I liked how sometimes he made the class like a jeopardy show; it was so exciting. The final was exactly what he said it will be. I loved that he used articles and chapters so we saved some money LOL. I wish the other professors, and even my boyfriend, were as fun and caring.

I took all 4 semesters of Arabic with Gaby. If you attend class, take notes, and go to him when you need help, than you will do fine. There is usually homework every week, and the exams are not too bad. The 3rd and 4th levels do get intense though!

Dr Semaan is the best teacher I had this semester, in fact ever in my college experience. He is very fun and teaches using different techniques. I love when he gives us scenarios to act and analyze. The tests were challenging but it was exactly what he told us he will test us on. Wonderful professor, I recommended taking classes with him.

He is the coolest, hottest professor lol. I loved his class and liked the interaction dynamics in the class. Loved the discussions that he facilitated and felt more like in a higher level class than a 1000 level. I liked that he used articles and videos rather than a textbook and loved his hummer. Only thing I did not like: class wasn't every day:)

As others said, coolest and most laid back and fair professor I had. He made us participate in decisions related to assignments, due dates and projects so I felt that I owned the class and not just was in it. I love his teaching methods and approaches. I highly recommend him.

I like dr. Semaan. Fun class to take and very informative. I just wish my major requires more classes with him. I guess I got the grade I deserve in he class, could have got an A if I worked a little harder. Very good prof though.

Wonderful professor. I love him humorous approach and various teaching methods. Very engaging, very smart and quick witted, thinks on his feet lol :). He makes the class interesting and fun. I wish his assignments were easier, when he gives us choices it gets harder, although I like the idea, I like to be told exactly what to like without options.

Wonderful and outstanding teacher makes everything so easy to understand. His passion for teaching makes it difficult to not get into the subject. His class is never dull! I will take another class with him and recommend his classes if you want a fun good class.

Best professor ever. Dr Semaan is the most engaging prof I had. He is very patient, just and understanding. He had power point slides for every chapter and went far in providing the class with resources for making it easier for us to learn. My favorite professor. He is super nice and very good at explaining. He knows every student by name and will notice if you're not there. A huge part of your grade is class attendance, and if you go you're guaranteed a good grade. If you need this for a gen ed or any other credit TAKE THIS CLASS!

Dynamite! I've taken this class with Prof. Semaan, it was dynamite!,But only explosions in my brain lol. I highly recommend him as a professor who will introduce you to new ways of thinking about things. There's lots of reading but his classes are worth the effort and the class is easy if you do the work. No textbook but journal articles and video

First day of class but I can tell he is what others said about him; very knowledgable and very funny, his humor made the class go fast. He was clear on his expectations. I love how personable he is. First day and he knew us by name by the end of the class. Very helpful as he provided the reading on blackboard until we get the book. Very cute :)

Dr Semaan is the AWSOMEST professor at UT. He is cool, funny and yes requires his students to take the class seriously. Those who want an easy A just for registering in the class and doing nothing else wont like him. If you are a good student who is willing to work for your grade, ignore the comments by those D and lower students. Very Fair

He is very fair in grading and even gives opportunities for extra credit. Yes, he gives pop-quizzes but usually he warns us about it in advance and mentions that at the beginning of semester. He returns quizzes and assignments promptly and is very helpful, understanding and compassionate. I love you Dr. Semaan, Best class for Fall semesters.

I like this professor and loved the class. He is very helpful. Gives many opportunities for those who want to work & improve their grades. He cares about his students & understand circumstances. Knew us by name in a Week. Balance jokes and education well, makes learning fun and easy. No wonder others look to take more classes with him. recomended

This prof is soooo cool. Had PowerPoint presentations for every class and made us experience learning and interview others on campus as activities during the class. Put summaries and sample tests on blackboard. Very funny and treated us to brkfast a couple of times. I recommend him, for serious students only lol.

In short, he is very understanding, patient and fair. He understood my circumstances and worked with me to improve my grade and pass the class. He prepared and provided test samples that were very helpful when studied to easily pass the tests. Wonderful teacher, highly recommend. Made material relevant to our majors and life.

He's cool and his class is simple... Take him if you need an Arabic class.

First time with this professor, he is well prepared and fun. The class seems easy, so far, and the readings are reasonable. Have power point s for each class and posts them on blackboard, easier for reviewing. I like that he uses relevant articles (free) for the class rather than books (expensive). Students seem to come back to classes he teaches.

Dr. Semaan (or should I say, UTs better version of George Clooney) has all my requirements in a prof: charismatic, handsome and fun. Oh, by the way, icing on the cake, great prof who teaches well and makes learning easy and fun ;).

Dr. Semaan's class was one of favorite courses because of the way the class was taught, the information and the class environment. The professor made the class fun and even found a way to make the not so fun topics fun. The class changed the way I see the outside world. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite professors. The class is cool and so is the class environment. You will need to read every reading, power point presentations and sample tests are posted for every chapter on blackboard. His class formula is simple, read, attend and use the resources he provides and you will pass. I learned many things for real life.

I enjoyed the class. Very practical information and the prof knows his stuff. Cool prof & very helpful & available to help when I had questions about the final paper. It took him some time to get to posting all the grades online, however, I don't care about that beacause he returned the graded quizzes promptly, so online grading didn't matter. 3

Dr. Semaan is very kind, caring and understanding. He is fair, rather generous, in grading and seems to care more that you learned something. He is understanding and took our input into consideration. He was very nice and regularly brought goodies, even got us coffee one class.

Dr. Gaby is the most understanding and kind professor I ever had. He is very personable and I felt that he genuinely care about me and my classmates as individuals. He got to know us by name rather quickly and remembered deatials that we said about us which to me shows an authentic human. He is down to earth and always treat us with dignity.

First week of class still and I can tell this is a class I will look forward to coming to. Gaby is hilarious and makes the class fun unlike some boarding classes I have; time in class went by quickly. Participation and activities seems important. In the first class i had a lot of interaction with other students during the ice breaking activity.

Very smart and engaging prof. He is super funny and cool. So far the class is my favorite, quite a bit of in-class activity. I aced the first quiz. Sample quizzes for the first quiz were very helpful.

This was my favorite class this semester especially before all of our classes went online after our spring break because of the corona virus. I struggled after the class went online mid semester because of relocating and not having reliable internet access. Dr. Gaby was very helpful understanding and flexible. He was patient with my internet limitations and I was able to at least pass the class. Thanks, highly recommend.

I took the class in the summer session (2020). The class was fully online. One of the best online classes I ever took. Professor was very responsive and quickly answered my questions, seemed always available, unlike some who teach online and never respond to you. Reminders of what was due for the week were sent a twice each week. Highly recommend.

Professor Semaan did a great job and explained everything that was taught very thoroughly. Although the class was online Professor Semaan did the recorded lectures as if the class was face to face. I think everybody should take this class.

This class was virtually easy & online student friendly; the workload wasn't out of the ordinary nor highly excessive. The prof responded to my emails and questions very quickly and was understanding and kind. Overall, phenomenal course. Although the class was online, he noticed when my participation diminished and i missed an assignment because something was wrong with me and my personal life; he took the time to reach out to me and even provided practical suggestions and help. This is an important class that everyone should be taking to learn about communicating with people form other cultural backgrounds and also to learn more about themselves. It was very organized. This was by far the best online class I ever took. It was a very interactive online class. The professor was very responsive, helpful and super organized which made the class easy to follow. He reminded us what is due each week and sent a reminder towards the end of the week. He also quickly responded to every email I sent.

I am not an online learner and find online classes hard for me. However, this was very organized and easy to follow, we received multiple emails and reminders each week. I loved this class and the professor. In the beginning of the class I felt that the material the professor made us read was not related to the class, later though it all made sense. Intercultural Communication: Principles and Practice has been the most impact-full on my life. i will never regret taking this course. I now see the World with a different set of lenses and that is such a beautiful gift that Professor Gaby has given me.What i learned in this class would stay with me for a life time.

The class is not hard at all, but sometimes can be really boring. His Exams are about what you read on your own and the discussion in the classroom. There are so many easy extra credits that will get you the easy A.

This is a 1000 level class. It is easy if you do the work and follow instructions. The professor is fun and very helpful.

This was one of the best, if not the best, online classes I took at UT. Very organized, weekly reminders and clear structure. The professor responded to all my posts on the discussion board and replied to all my emails quickly. Very practical class for life and intercultural interactions. Many opportunities for self reflection too.

This course has been an eye-opening experience into other cultures. I appreciate of all of the materials we covered and interpreted. Everything was organized in a way that made learning as easy. He is so hilarious. I learned a lot from him. You aren't just another face in his class, he aims to get to know you. He is also really good at lecturing. Not a snoozer.

Dr. Semaan is an amazing professor! I looked forward to his lectures every mon and wed. His priority is more on ensuring you have a grasp on the language rather than the grades, which should be the case for all good language professors. I will say that his class is less structured as a result, which worked great for me but may not be for every one.
