Dr. Gupta is an engaging lecturer who incorporates different kinds of media to get the message across. Unfortunately, his instructions for assignments are vague and given with no rubric. Student who do well on assignments have to meet him outside of class to figure out exactly what his expectations are. This is unfair to students who work/commute

DrGupta is a nice guy in general but for a first time prof, he has to realize that his system is not perfect, and a little leniency and listening to your students (when the majority express concern) goes a long way. The way the course is set up was unorganized, there were too many last minute changes made, and overall , people were left unhappy.

There's no way majority of 4th year biomed students can get 50s on a term paper. If I'm being honest, some of the reviews of Dr. Gupta are quite harsh. He generally gave great lectures and offered weekly tutorial sessions to go over material that students had questions about. Tests weren't exactly reflective of what was taught in class, from the text or what was on mastering, so make sure you ask for clarity whenever needed :)

With this professor the lectures and tests will be heavy, but if you're doing the practice and spending a decent amount of time reviewing the material you should be fine. Time management will be important :)

The only thing “hilarious” about Gupta is his skills to truly tank your grade. 70% of the exam wasn't on the lecture content. No idea where he pulled it out of. Tanked my perfect GPA. Lost Deans list. Maybe a limb studying for this course. Feels like I sold my soul to learn 50 proteins and structures you'll never see again

Don't listen to what other people are saying, Dr. Gupta is really not that bad. Yes, the final is impossible, but you're allowed to have a cheat sheet for all 3 midterms, the labs are fun, and he's a relatively nice guy. Biochemistry is hard, but that's not entirely his fault. Do good in the labs and read the textbook, you'll be fine! :)

I'm illiterate and can't use the textbook or Google. No YouTube videos available to help other than drawing the lines of a pI table. Ur better of asking ChatGPT. G.G.? More like "good game" to ur grades. He's so unfair, he made me lose my dean's list placement. U better pray to God in this class. I just wanna skip class, be lazy, and play league.

Everyone is being awful. He was a good prof that gave us all the reading material and mastering questions in advance to help boost our grade. He curved like no tomorrow, his tests were fairly simple. The exam was rough but you can pass the course by getting good grades on the tests.

I didn't have him for biochemistry but as a Cell bio prof he is amazing he is very engaging and with five tests all an aid sheet it's hard to fail a test. I have accommodations and he is super nice about letting me write early and did tell us biochem wasn't his speciality and I can see that bio chem would be hard to teach if it's not his speciality

Awful prof, although he seems nice at first and gives cheatsheets for his tests, which are every 2 weeks, they are NOT helpful. His tests are super hard and long, about things he never goes in depth with in class.

Just no. The tests are ridiculously hard for no reason. They are almost like confusing graduate-level scenarios no one understands. Even if you take thorough notes and make a comprehensive cheat sheet, you're still fried. Maybe you'll do well in this course if you dedicate your life to it and play the lecture recordings every night when you sleep.

Just wrote the bch361 final with Anne Johnson and it reminded me how awful Gupta was his final exam was just as bad. I kinda forgot how horrible he was and how badly he structured his class but going thru Annes wrath reminded me of the pain that felt too familiar. The 2nd years are lucky they don't have to experience him and get antonescu instead.

hes actually a pretty decent lecturer (when hes not doing 50 slides in 10 minutes). i just wished he actually tested the content on the same level. tests r so long and literally like an english exam. he actually creates the craziest questions ive ever seen idek how he comes up with this stuff. i dont think anything can prepare u for him/his tests

He's really passionate about cell bio and I thought his class was fun. Cell bio is a 2nd yr course but he teaches it like a 3rd or 4th year course, the tests are difficult but they're honestly the kind of problems you'll encounter if you want a career in research anyway. If you don't go to lectures you're done for though! Great guy, stressful class

Cheat sheets for each test very rarely was helpful as most questions were just situation/experimental questions. The tests basically require you to have insanely high understanding of the material.

not that bad. 5 tests, 1 exam, one sided cheat sheet for the tests, double sided for the exam. His lecture are helpful and he explains stuff really well. Lowest test dropped. The exam takes questions from the previous tests (even made easier a little). Curves alot (80 to 95 on a test). Just attend and learn instead of memorizing

The tests require intense critical thinking and analysis, alongside heavy preparation. Though, as of yet, this was the most difficult biology-based class that I've taken, it was also for that reason, the most rewarding and beneficial, as I learned to carve out thorough thinking strategies.

Gaggin gupta lol! He's v passionate about his work. Def the most interesting class this sem. If u love learning about intricate biological processes you'll enjoy it. However the tests were brutal (every 2 weeks). Sometimes understanding the concepts isn't enough bc those long answer, matching questions really throw you off. He does curve those tho

Lectures were disorganized and hard to follow. The course had five tests plus a final, and even though cheat sheets were allowed, they didn't help much. The tests were very difficult, and there were moments where the instruction felt confusing. I wouldn't recommend taking this course with him.

Nice guy, super passionate about his field. I can see why rates r so low, his tests (esp the short answer) r hard to follow sometimes but for the most part u can do well if u study and focus on understanding things rather than memorizing facts. His prac tests were close to acc tests, curves alot, final exam was identical to past tests so use those!
