Not too much work. You gotta stay awake, environmental science is pretty boring.
very interesting class and very easy to pass. she is a wonderful person and you really do learn a lot.
i took her twice and she is a great teacher. very helpful and straightforward.parts of the course are hard but as long as you show interest you should be fine (don't let the first time fool you when she says 5 points off if cell phones ring--seemed strict and crazy to me too) highly recommended!
shes a great teacher. shes really interested in the subject matter. and an easy grader if you do the work.
I had her for the lab portion of the class. I loved every minute of it! She made it fun and interesting. Passed it with an 'A'! Take her if you can!
She's a good teacher, I won't dispute that, and I find the material to be easy, but the thing that bothers me is that in the month or so I've been taking this class, we've only had 1 lab. Lab has always been my favorite part of chem, so I deffinetly miss it. Also, the tests themselves are easy, but I don't like the fact that she uses a different kind of scantron with numbers instead of letters. But, overall, she's a good teacher and its a good class.
She is a very nice teacher... Very helpful and knowledgeable with her material...
She's a great teacher. Very considerate and understanding. I love her and I enjoyed taking chemistry with her class. If you do read and do her homework then you should get a grade that you deserved. She's willing to help and give extra credit if you work hard for it.
Anything ???????????? Does anybody know her?
Not a good professor, rushes u during labs, doesnt explain things on lectures, because "the is no time for that". Ridiculous tests, multiple choice but stuff taken out of a blue sky. Don't even try to go to her office if you have a problem, she has no time!
She is nice.. yeah but that doesnt make her a good teacher. She actually doesnt teach, and forget about going to her during her office hours, she never has time. Labs are rarely, tests kind of hard, and she becomes confusing. I had a feeling she doesnt know her subject well enough or at least doesnt know how to pass it on. Not recommended.
this teacher is absolutely boring and has no character whatsoever...she needs to lighten up and be involved ..i dont recommend her at all
great professor
during labs she does not explain to you what you have to do, she makes it seem like you know what your doing. i was having surgery on the last day of class and she wouldnt let me take the exam a week later! she wont return my emails even though she read it. she is not very helpful at all and very inconsiderate. made me hate forensic science.
nice lady, but a horrible teacher. not very helpful at all
she is a square...she has no personality.she has no feelings.she doesnt care what anyone has to say no matter what.she doesnt know how to break it down when she's tryin to explain something.and yes, i agree she rushes lectures because "there's no time".you're expected to learn some material on your own.HER TESTS ARE REALLY HARD+some ques. are rando
If you take this class, be prepared to drop it! What a waste of time! Her tests are so hard, the questions come out of nowhere! At the beginning of the semester, there were 30 students, towards the last week, only a handful remained! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!
Yes, she is hard but I thought she was VERY helpful if you ask questions. She made the material interesting and made it make sense.
Very knowledgeable and interesting, There is some work, but nothing that is too hard. She doesn't describe the lab work, but will help if you ask. Good teacher
Prof. Becker is a really nice person, made the class interesting and gave hardly any homework. But had to do a presentation and then final was on all the presentations! That was alot for a 1 credit class! Also does fieldtrips to the EPA - very interesting! Overall a good experience!
Great Profressor She you will pass if you show up to class, try to be on time, and complete all labs. If you have any questions she is always willing to answer them. She is knows her material and tries her best to make the class interested in her lecs/labs/and hwrk. interesting.
She is a great professor. She would go out of her away to teach you in her office hours if you are serious about learning. And Please do the HW before going to her. Those student who said bad things about her probably didnt study on their own and expected her to cut them some slack. In the beggining i didn't do well but when I got my act together
Dr. Becker was a great teacher for intro Chemistry. I learned alot and she made it rational.
Dr. Becker is an ideal professor. She makes herself available for questions even on her own time. She cares about her students and their future success in college. She notices those who are doing the work and trying. If you need a solid foundation on the basic of chemistry - she's the professor to take.
well...everybody has different experience. ihave her for env 208 and I find her helpful. actually I find her personality very pleasant. She always smiles. I dont hink so that any professor can be "very friendly", if so then trust me we will not learn. we take his/her very easy. Professors have to be little strict. But I recommend her. :-)
she is not a teacher who is easy going. She is a nice teacher willing to help her students but her tests are so hard and diffucult get a good grade eventhough you put lots of time to study
Amazing, intelligent, funny and kind woman. Excellent instructor. No BS, so if you want to slack stay away. Yes, she just hands you the labs, but it's up to you to ask questions and she will do anything to help you. The tests can be tricky, this is because you actually have to study for them. I would take her class again in a moment!
People who gave her bad comments don't know what they are talking about. When i saw the comments on this website at first i was scared to have her as a teacher, but later i found out how awsome of a teacher she was. If you don't understand something she will keep going over it until you understand it. Take her you wont regret it!
This teacher made me to love chem, she is extremely good, very hepful.I love her!!
This is a professor who will make you a better student; you will earn your grade through work and study. She is an excellent people person who will go out of her way to assist in any way she can. Everyday in class she greets the class with a smile, a joke and something off topic to break the ice. Highly recommend her!!!
Great proffesor ...Take her ... youll learn and be taught very clear... and gives out quizes that dont count towarss your grade and help you alot for the test... and is a great person
Very nice lady, always starts the class with something off topic, very helpful, will go out of her way to help a student. Tests were fairly challenging, but if you study you'll be fine. Attendance not mandatory but it'll help, she makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Definitely recommend her.
She is as genuine a person you will ever meet. She creates a learning environment and is fair to all students. You must put the time in order to get a good grade. She makes learning chemistry really fun.
Reading some of these cats ..Becker teaches real students not lazy suckers .. first day of class BOOM she tells you what you need to do in order to succeed and thats it. She don't ask for ridiculousness. Some people say she's harsh and dun care??? WHAT?!?! Comments need to be shamwowwed off this thing. Take Becker..nuff said
she is extreemly helpful. n teaches chemistry in an intrsting manner. she is the best chemistry teacher i hav ever had. do her review qusteions and homework well, and you can easily do well....!!
Dr. Becker makes learning chemistry fun and interesting. Do the homework and you will do well. She tells you what to expect first day. No surprises. Take Becker, you won't regret it!
Good foundation of chemistry. I had to drop Gen chem last semester and am now taking Beckers 020 basic chem. She is a very fair proffessor.
If you want to be successful, Dr. Becker will give you the tools, you just have to use them. Interesting woman, very intelligent. The work is challenging and she TELLS you that in the beginning. She gives extra credit, but the tests are hard.STUDY!
Good Teacher. She has an outstanding vocabulary. She uses great metaphors for complex reactions. please take her if you cant remember alot of chemistry from high school. very strict but very fair. what else could you want? its college!!
- test : long,medium-hard. -teaching:-No outlining which makes you confused...take her if you have to but read the chapter(not only the powerpoints) before you go to class. She is nice, but I won't take her on General Chemestry courses.
i've always hated chemistry because no teacher has ever been able to make the material clear to me BUT then i meet Dr. Becker. She loves to talk about sports so keep up to date with what's going on. She knows her stuff and really knows how to explain it. couldn't have asked for more! Do the homework and pay attention and do the extra credit!
You couldn't ask for a better teacher.Keeps class interesting with current topics.very strict with cell phones in lecture.very professional.show up early. She jumps around the book.PAY ATTENTION in lect.Labs are a blast.Don't let her tough demeanor throw you off.she is very nice, just follow her rules and push through the tougher parts of the class
She was a really good teacher! All you have to do to pass is come to class, study powerpoints, lecture notes, and read the textbook. If you are confused on something ask her! She's very nice! Make sure to turn your phone off before class starts or you'll get kicked out!
She is all about student success. Super knowledgeable and extremely helpful. She even assigned her two superb tutors for us. Her powerpoint presentations are second to none. She will make you fall in love with chemistry. Incredibly blessed to have her as my professor.
Perhaps the best chemistry professor in MCC. Too bad she isn't teaching gen chem 2. Prepares you thoroughly for the rigors of 4 year college and more. Do the homework she assigns, pay attention in the class, refer to her power points and you will do just fine. It was a privilege to have attended her 020 and Gen chem 1 Class.
Dr. Becker is not easy. But you will learn A LOT from her class. She explains everything clearly and uses lots of examples. Don't she has a hard personality at the beginning of the semester, after midterms, she started to ease up. Take her if you want a challenge.
Outstanding professor. Thoroughly prepares you for the rigors for a four year university and gives you a solid foundation in chemistry. Tests aren't easy but not unreasonable, gives you a lot of extra credit. Please don't be late and make sure your cell phone is off.
Had been the best chem class ever. She is worth taking! I would highly recommend her for the ones taking chem if they r ready to work hard!!She is success concerned prof. I thank her enough to make my class worth of all!
Got 60-70s on tests. gives online connect hw which doesn't help w material much. Gave 5 exams with about 40 Q's which is a lot. No partial credit given and drops 1 test grade NO EXCEPTIONS (surgery? too bad.) doesn't like to email&acted bothered during office hours. lets out 20 min early, no x effort for you suggests tutor. overall she was O.K.
Made me fall in love with chemistry. Take her for 020, study hard and General Chemistry 1 will be a breeze. She is a magnificent professor and one of the very best, the chemistry department at MCC has to offer. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Great professor. Knows how to communicate the material to students. Is fair but firm. No lateness. Turn off your phone before you leave your house. It's sacrilege for your phone to go off during a classlab.
Prof. Becker wants more than anything for her students to really learn the material and remember it beyond the final. She tells you exactly what you need to do to really get it, so when she says "Dedicate 10 hours a week to this." DO IT! I did and I've learned this stuff inside and out. She's there for you and is a lot of fun.
Wonderful and very knowledgable professor. Extremely helpful and realistic
Man oh man. I loved Becker! She's definitely a character. She is a very good professor, entertaining, a bit engaging. She's way too strict on cellphone policies. If she hears a vibration from you more than once, expect to get kicked out. Be responsible in her class, she doesn't play around. But she cares very much about her students. Take her!
Professor Becker conducts chemistry in a very clear and comprehensive way. She makes it very clear EXACTLY what one must do to ace the course. When she says '10 hours a week', take her word for it. The tests are tough, but no supprised. She conducts the class strictly her way. Very strict cell phone and late policy but worth it definitely.
Tough professor out there but worth taking her class. Tests were hard, but she provides extra credit. Her assignments were straight forward and so were the projects. She is strict with phones and lateness, otherwise she will ask you to leave class.
I took her for CHM 020 and I aslo took her for CHM 121. She is tough, but after you get to know her, she is the best.
I wish I had gotten an A in her class but I didn't. To be honest she genuinely cares about you and your grades, she is hella tough but I wish more professors cared as much as she does about her students.
Shes very chill and nice ! Her work is tough but if you study enough , you will get a good grade. You can tell she cares about your well being. She also talks about football which is pretty cool! Overall , great teacher.
Dr. B made me fall in love with Chem. She is no nonsense but super nice and extremely helpful. Always available to help during office hours. Not an easy A but she gives extra credit and if you put in the work you can do well. She keeps devoted students in mind when opportunities arise at MCC. She will bend over backwards if you really put in work.
Expects everything in lab to be known before entering classroom and she can be very rude at times
Dr. Becker is a funny and caring person yet strict when she has to be. I was in her CHM Lab class and I learned so much more from her than my lecture teacher. She is an amazing teacher. You just have to make sure you put the work in to pass her class and NEVER let her see your phone! She will give you a zero for the day!
Professor Becker was by far my favorite Chemistry Professor at Middlesex. She made you work for your grade and want to succeed. She gave out 5 tests, which gave you a lot of chances to solidify your grade. Her tests were very hard , which made the final very easy as she did not make it lol. If she sees you try , she will also definitely pass you.
Professor Becker, is by fat the best professor you can ever take. At first she might come off as a strict prof. but I can assure you, that there is no prof like her. She is very understanding and a person of her word. She will help you understand and chemistry. If she sees you trying even if you are not doing well she will pass you.
Phones must be O-F-F: one buzz and you're kicked out for the rest of the class. She can confuse/contradict herself during lectures which can be annoying. From my experience, half the class dropped and those who stayed had to work their butt off to pass. she assigns a lot of HW but doesn't grade it, puts it as extra credit instead
Took this course during the pandemic so everything was online. This professor doesn't give much practice problems during class, or much homework so it's hard to understand the topic. Had to drop this class because of failing grade even though I studied as much as I could. When I asked if she could make a study guide for the midterm she said no.
Becker would be AWESOME in person- but online is confusing with her. 65% of your grade are tests, which are pretty difficult and you can't look back at your answers on them. She is very approachable if you are struggling with certain topics. Just be prepared to spend A TON of time(10+hr/week) studying for her class if you plan on taking her online.
Shes a good professor teaches well, but not for remotely learning, take her for lecture remotely but not lab class. Shes extremely rude and tough on her students, doesnt care about your grades. So be ready to self study and be on the top from the beginning.
first time freshmen who took her class for Chem Lab online during the pandemic. had hope for this class because out of all my professors, she had the best reviews. this class was the worst class I took. She didnt give us a break being that we were online. Mandatory cameras on zoom everyday. Mainly assigned test & quizzes, half the class dropped it
This is not an easy class, we cant look back at our answers once we submit in a test, which I don't et the point off, but you have to work hard invest 10+ hours, but if she sees that you are working hard she will take that into consideration, You have to work for your grade, started with an F in the class, I'm just saying you have to work for it.
She assigns a lot of ungraded homework, but it really does help you understand the material. Take her word when she says you need to study at LEAST 10 hours a week in order to pass. She usually drops the lowest grade but you can't slack off with her. Focus on lecture and watch youtube videos on the topic and you should be fine. Really good prof!
Professor Becker helped me understand chemistry. She explains topics well and will repeat things until you understand. Do not be afraid to ask questions!! Yes it is a hard class but, if you put in the work, it will pay off. She is there to help you and rewards hard work. She is a fair grader and gave points back if a question was not fair.
A rigorous class and the best exposition to chemistry at MCC. Lectures are comprehensive and concise, highlighting all the important concepts. Problem-solving strategies are emphasized in the class. Exams are fair but challenging, however, she gives extra credit in the exams. Provides relevant historical insights before delving into the concepts.
Really nice, caring, and understanding professor. East to understand as well.
If you have a hard time understanding chemistry then this is not the class for you. It seem fasted pace for people bad at chem. I thought the class was relativity easy but notice that a good portion of my classmates were struggling. If you do take this class put the 10 hours in like she said.
Dr. Becker really helped me to understand gen chem 1 and now I have a good foundation going into future chem classes. She's strict, but she likes to joke around too. She provides lots of review material before tests and her lectures and expectations are clear. There are extra credit opportunities on every test which help boost your grade.
As someone who almost failed HS chem, I recommend taking her. She tells you Day 1 that if you put in work, the class is easy and I cant agree more. If you take good notes during lectures and do practice problems, youll be fine for the quizzes and tests. She's tough but VERY fair. She gives lots of review before tests as well. Take her if you can!
One of my favorite professors! If you put in the effort, you will do well.
My favorite professor I've had. She is strict but has a great personality. Take her for chemistry you will not regret it her lectures are great and she sprinkles in a joke from time to time. Anything you need to succeed she will go out of her way to do like printing out power points, making up worksheets etc.
Dr. Becker is amazing. Chemistry was my worst subject but I was able to understand it with her lectures. You won't regret taking her.
Honestly the best professor I could have had for my first ever chemistry class. Her lectures were very thorough and she put a lot of helpful hints into memorization. Her labs were the most fun as well. I really recommend her class, just pay attention, don't miss class and you'll pass.
Chemistry is never an easy subject. But Professor Becker does her best to have you understand the material. She is always going the extra mile to help out and will answer your concerns thoroughly. Best Professor on campus!
Dr. Becker is absolutely amazing with what she does! She's FAIR, respectful, and really does care for your success. If you do many practice problems and use the modules and the recourses she gives out you will pass! She drops ur lowest TEST score. Show you're trying so she knows how hard you've been working! Sit in front! Participate! Get involved!
Doesn't give homework, but hands out a TON of worksheets USE THEM THEY ARE YOUR LIFELINE! Very caring and tough, wants you to be successful! Attend every lecture, you miss one you WILL BE LOST!
Dr. Becker wants the absolute best for her students! She has insightful lectures and tries to give us ways to understand the concept with real world problems. Chemistry is a tough course, but if you want to do well you must study, attend lecture, and attend extra sessions or office hours. She provides hand outs with practice problems, do them!
She was very funny & you could tell me cared deeply about everyone's success. She hates when you show up late though lol. EC on every exam, and exams were pretty straightforward. ALWAYS willing to help with questions!!! Kind enough to print out PowerPoints for every class & the worksheets she hands out help a lot! Builds a great chem foundation :)
Chem is hard for me but she made it interesting. She gives great (sometimes funny) examples to help remember topics. Gives extra credit on exams. She answers any question no matter how small. She is right when she says study for 10 hours a week.. put in the work and she says you get the grade you deserve. Highly recommend
