Mrs. Carter is the best. She is very understanding and very funny. Alot of people whine that she goes too fast, but they are just whiners!!! I would high;y recommend her! :-)
I've had Mrs. Carter for two math courses now, and she's my favorite math professor. The class gets boring at times, but it's well worth it to get the A or B.
can tell she loves math and what she does...moves a little fast...but, is helpful and nice!!
She is very nice and understanding but a very challenging teacher. Skips around too much for me. (my major is in math, and i did better in science than in math for once) lets just say have fun teaching yourself. (acts old too)
Had her for Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra. Very good teacher! Has great sense of humor. Makes the class fun. Makes learning math easy. Got an A on every test! Coming from a person who used to hate Math, take her, she's great! As long as you do your homework, you'll definately get an A! :)
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken! She's so nice and really goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material. She was a great teacher. I've taken her 3 times now. All 3 times I got A's! I actually enjoyed doing my math homework after she taught it to me! She's wonderful!
She teaches very fast.
She is the nicest person on campus. She is helpful and clear in her instruction. She's funny and very conscientious regarding the results from her teaching.
THis woman is past her prime. She skips around, and always seems unprepared for class. On several occasions, we spent an entire class on material not relevant to the upcoming test. This was not a class for math majors, but she felt it imperativer that we learn material that was not in the syllabus.
this teacher is condecending and patronizing. She makes an extremley easy class hard because she adds stuff that is not in the math book and then doesn't provide worksheeys to practice with. she puts the material on the tests. then she feels it necessary to add projects that are not on the syllabus.
Rigid teaching style. Knows math! Quick paced classes.
She Is Okay!
very negative towards her class, makes negative and derogatory remarks towards the class
This professor is erratic, unorganized, thoughtless, non chalant and painful. and thats BEFORE she teaches !! She is way to fast, doesn't finish the explainations, skips chapters, goes off on other tales of mystery and you spend forever trying to learn from the already hard text. Oh,go see her during office hrs. She only has 30 minutes every 3 days
Very rude and negative. Pleae avoid this teacher if you can. She treats us like dogs and likes to pick certain people out. Easily irritable professor. Youve been warned!
Great instructor, but she has a strict grading policy. She doesn't drop any test scores, but does give extra credit opportunity. None of her tests are multiple choice except the standard SPC final. She explains everything well and is very helpful and personable...just don't be late to class!
awesome teacher...not to mention she reminds me of the evil nurse that was in the movie the one who flew over the cuckoos nest...very sexy
She's a bit of a scatter brain sometimes, but it's endearing. She explains the subject well, and let's you know the types of questions that are going to be on the final. She'll take the time to help you when you need it, and as long as you keep her informed, she is forgiving of absences. REALLY! Don't be late, she hates that!
I swear she used to be a high school teacher - she's super sweet & if you take the time to get to know her she will love you. Definitely don't be late - her tests are fairly easy. Be sure to do all the homework because each chapter is due when the test is taken. I definitely recommend her!
i have so far had Mrs.carter for a couple of weeks. i liked her the first week of class. she tells you what will be asked on the final weeks before you take it.she is big on giving students extra credit. just obey her rules. she'll even say what pages to turn to study for every test. i want her again for college algebra!
Awesome teacher! Very very nice. Patient. Enthusiastic. Explains things well. Positive. Pushes you to do your best. Would take her again except she got promoted to another campus :(
she is the best teacher.mrs.carter is all about giving extra credit to her students. pass all of her quizes and the grade will be added to the tests.she'll even let's everyone in the class know before hand what kind of problems will be on the test.just don't talk during class.she hates that.she is really a wonderful professor.
She explains things clearly, loves going off on tangents but they're interesting to hear. MathXL program was a great asset in helping to understand material in addition to her explanations in class. Cross between easy and challenging, not too hard. Take her, you won't regret it.
i really dont know what any of you are talking about.Mrs carter doesnt explain things well at all, i'm really good at algebra and she'll explain a problem and start it, then be like oh this is way too hard, let us do an easy one, so she puts the hard ones we didnt do on the test. she is nice, but not a good college teacher, she should go back to hs
dont take her class. she will not slow down for anyone who falls behind, and also treats you like your still in high school.
Great teacher! I will be taking her again for 0024. It is fast because there is a lot to cover, but she takes the time to explain and loves it if you come to her outside of class for extra help. That she makes you do the homework is a bonus. Gives TONS of extra credit treats students who act like they're in highschool, like they're in highschool.
she goes kind of fast but for me it was a good pace. i totally regret taking this teacher. she spends more time going over last nights homework than the sections we need to learn for the test. she makes negative comments about her students. the only good thing is that she gives little extra credit quizzes and study guides.
she is a nice person at times can be rude to students ive taken her for two semesters in a row got an b both times. she goes fast and really don't have any office hours for extra help try to take someone else!
Even though she makes fun of the students she is a very good teacher.
she explains things too fast.Do not show up EVEN TWO MINUTES LATE BECAUSE TO HER IT IS TWELVE!I took her for two classes and I have no regrets. Her tests are very easy to understand compared to other professors!she doesn't like late students.she feels they are missing valuable information.USE THE RESTROOM BEFORE NOT DURING.NO CELL PHONES at all!
to support that comment below, she gets mad if you take to long to go to the bathroom!we are in college not high-school.no matter what happened, I still like her and she is very good when it comes to helping the struggling student.I fail intermediate algebra took her passed with a C average and took her again and passed college algebra!she is great.
She talks/teaches fast but if you don't understand, you should ask a question. She gives you tons of extra credit, do it!She teaches you what will be on the test.Sometimes she does pick on students but only because they ask dumb questions.I'll be taking her for col.algebra.She's a good teacher.Oh, & you shouldn't be on your cell phones anyways.
Mrs. Carter is absolutely wonderful she is a little quirky but she is fair and really wants her students to succeed. I loved her teaching style and the extra credit.
Mrs. Carter is a good teacher. She explains everything pretty well. She has a lot of extra credit, which is good. But she collects homework, written, which is way too much. She also lets you do homework online. These homeworks are 5 and 10 percent of the final grade. I averaged 91.6 and still got a B. If you like to do a lot of homework, take her.
Mrs. Carter was by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. Sure she demands good attendance and that you do your homework, but if you pay attention and study you should have no problem passing this class. She is very helpful and is a caring and passionate person.
Mrs. Carter was the best teacher I have ever had. She is hard on attendance and homework, but her tests are fairly easy. She has compassion and is a caring and devoted teacher. Sometimes she moves a little fast through the lessons, but she is always willing to listen and answer any questions you might have. So give her a try.
Very diffucult, moves too fast, won't hesitate to call you out, and gives too much homework. I understand it's suppose to help but w/ all the work and going too fast, u may as well take this class online and teach yourself. I have to get a tutor b/c she's not helpful. Or you shouldn't have a life & only take her class alone. I don't recommend her.
Great teacher, I took her for intermediate and college Algebra and got A's. She gives alot of homework which makes it easy to get A's on the tests. The only thing I didn't like was the online homework which is 10% of the grade. The online questions are very hard and are computer graded and often marks correct answers as incorrect.
Prof. Carter is a good teacher. She is very knowlegable but lacks some clarity. I think it is because she moves too fast through the subject matter. She is big on attendence and homework. If you do your homework you will have no problems in class. RECOMMEND (if you do your homework).
Ms. Carter is, in my opinion, one of the best teachers on campus. She does make a point of attendance and homework but if you don't show up or do the homework, you're gonna do bad anyway. i think she is just lookin out for the welfare of her students. She goes over anything you don't get until you do. My favorite teacher by far.
Ms.Carter is great. I wasn't very good at math in the beginning but she made it crystal clear. there's 5 tests and a final. you can replace a low test score with the final. she offers tons and tons of extra credit. she doesnt like texting nd side convos. if your not motivated to learn dont take her I have a 102 A. for smart people like me, take her
Mrs. Carter is by far one of my favorite teachers and definitely one of the best math teachers I've had. All of the previous comments are pretty accurate although she didnt really care about attendance in my class. I really appreciate having her and If you want to learn the RIGHT way you should take her.
Explains things clearly enough and seems to be willing to help you pass the class...gives some extra credit but mostly if you do all the homework then you end up passing the tests and you can pass the class but if you don't do the homework and you don't attend class your grade tends to drop a letter since they both count towards the final grade
the professor is good at what she dose but goes too fast and dose not give clear explanations about the work. Gives two different types of homework and expects you to do it. if you want a social life do not take this class otherwise you will be doing homework all the time.
Loved this lady she was helpful and very sarcastic!!!!! I stayed laughing
Ms Gail is by far one of the best math Teachers in SPC. She may be unclear at times due to moving quickly, but she is always happy to help you after class or during Office Hours. RECOMMENDED!
I will not take this class with her unless you really understand your math. She expect you to know what you doing because she know what she doing. she moves a fast pace and doesn't give examples from the homework just read and rework the example in the book.
Mrs. Carter is a very nice teacher; she does give a lot of homework, but it's needed in order to do well on the tests. If you do the work and attend class, you will get an A or B. She gives xtr crdt and very good reviews for tests.Highly recommended.
Very nice teacher unless you annoy her with your electronics (DON'T USE THEM IN CLASS) or if you're always leaving early. Teaches really fast and if you ask her to explain, she'll still go over it fast. You gotta be a fast learner. She assigns an average amount of homework, but it definitely helps. HW is mandatory. Gives a lot of extra credit too(:
Very nice teacher. She teaches just a little fast but always goes back to review. Always willing to help clarify things if she hasn't already. Occasionally takes a break to tell a quick, funny story. She's a little crazy but funny. I'd take her again if I could!
She teaches so FAST! Skips important info sometimes bcuz "we run out of time". Attendance is mandatory. She takes attendance EVERY SINGLE DAY! I didn't expect to be teaching myself the material. Her favorite phase is "O well" so keep this in mind. She's ok, but I wouldn't take her again. I'm trying my best to avoid her if I have to repeat.
Took her College Algebra and Pre-Calc. I'm a very lazy student and I managed to get a A and B in the both subjects. Ignore all the winers. Yes she assigns a lot of hw but if you're lazy just get the solutions Manual and copy it. She is very nice and offers ton of extra credit. Excellent teachers who puts a lot of time into course
Professor Carter is a fantastic teacher, explains things clearly, showing examples on board, etc. I recommend her to those who have a hard time learning algebra. She is a great person and teaches a structured class. I have always looked forward to her classes. I learned well from this proffesor, so I took her again for liberal arts. proffessor
This is a fantastic Professor who I recommend highly. She is always willing to help after class and offce hours. I know by other ratings I have read about Ms Carter, students have complained that she goes to fast.Well, the class is only 1 hr 15min; therefore, Professor Carter has to cover so much information in such a short amount of time.
Read previous reviews. She may be a great algebra teacher but Liberal Arts Math not so much. She races through the material and then when we ask questions tells us to see her after class. She teaches another class after this one so she only has a few minutes. Not helpful at all. Do not take her for this class.
People always complain about how fast she goes. Well, there is a time limit for her to teach us a lot of material. She is a great teacher who knows her math and is willing to help if it is needed. Homework is around a normal load. Takes 30 minutes to finish. Great class.
Best professor to take math, she's way better than Drew. She's easy and test reviews is almost similar to the test. Gives out extra credit and there's 2 types of homework so make sure you do it to boost your grade. Take her for math!
she is very smart and she knows what she is teaching. i wish she could teach applied calculus and statistics too.take her if you want an easy A
She is not clear of her materital, and she does not have class management skills. I would not recommend this teacher. If you want to learn she is not the teacher for you.If you choose her good luck.
All we did was use the computer in class because the course was online. If you have a lot of time outside of class, take it. If not, you will fall behind.
If you don't like math or you have problems with math, run away. I have never had a problem with math until I had this professor. She constantly makes errors and counts on the class to catch them. She is very unclear on things and doesn't make sense. She gives 100+ homework problems per section and gives online homework which is part of your grade.
I love Mrs.Carter! Though some people in the class do not seem interested in the class she is a great teacher for this subject. She has some great tips and tricks that I never learned before that will help you!
This was a new kind of set up to me and a lot of students as far as math goes. All the work was online but she was able to help explain it as needed in class. She is very sweet and has a sarcastic sense of humor. She is very helpful and will always ask if anyone needs assistance. She's needless to say a very smart math woman.
The most hardest class I took and she's a good professor but you gotta use the textbook since she doesn't give you a review. Also she gives quizzes and homework which includes many problems to do. Take her for Pre-Calculus.
She's a good professor but her class is hard. If you want to do good on the test, use the textbook and HW to review. Also the HW & quiz is time-consuming unless you put in your effort. Its easy if you understand it. I ended up with a C.
Definitely not one of my favorite instructors and felt like I was in high school again. Does not tolerate tardiness and locks the door after class starts. Routinely called on students to answer questions if she noticed that they weren't paying attention. Tests were moderately difficult and homework was mandatory.
I did learn some tricks from her, but she treats everyone like high schoolers. If you need help, go to the tutoring center. She gave quizzes on the formulas so memorize them as soon as she gives them out. All in all, not a bad teacher for this course, considering no ones wants to teach it. There is help out there, just use it.
Homework overload! She assigns both book homework for every section and MyMathLab homework for every section. Lectures are terrible, pretty much had to teach myself everything. The best way to pass is to do the reviews she provides.
Professor Carter is not very personable and doesn't seem to thoroughly enjoy her job. She also does not tolerate any talking, tardiness or nonsense in class. Tough tests and homework is mandatory.
Monotone. Moves very quickly. Often she Makes mistakes Becuase she is moving too fast, which creates confusion. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people assume individuals know something and she is notorious for this. She will quickly say "I know you know this, we can move on"yet rooms full of blank faces. It's intermidiate algebra slow down
This professor is so horrible! She hardly explains problems, won't finish them on the board because "we should already know how" if you want a class where all you want to do is gauge your eyes out, take this class! She is just bad
She's a bad teacher because she is not organized and she tells all the students "you should know this". She moves too quickly for those who aren't very sharp at math. She also won't go over problems over with you.. Not a very good teacher.
This was the hardest math class I've taken; that's not her fault, that class is too big and moves much to fast. I worked my butt off, and still barely passed. Professor Carters door is always open, and her response time on emails is great. She is always willing to stay late and go the extra mile to help her students.
Probably the only teacher in SPC that grades hw. You'll have at least 50-100 book questions every night of class, you'll have a couple weeks to get it all done because she only collects hw on test day. She gives way to much hw but gives study guides with answer keys a couple days before the test that is identical to the test. 4 tests and a final.
This professor gives way to much homework. I took this class online and it took me a while to get the hang of it. If you are a busy person or you are taking too many classes I suggest you find another class.
Professor Carter is not a good professor. She moves entirely to fast through the course and by that i mean going over 2-3 problems in each section. I basically had to teach myself and go to the study lab as well. Also when it comes to homework she has about 50-70 (sometimes more) problems for homework in each section(4.5, 4.6..). Its mandatory.
Professor Carter is a cool lady. Her pop quizzes aren't really "pop" quizzes since its basically at the end of every week. She kinda breezed through the material but there was a lot to cover. She gives out a lot of extra credit and helps people outside of class. Her tests were fairly easy too.
Mrs. Carter is one of the best online professors I have ever had. She is engaged, she is involved and most importantly she cares about your success.
I don't have enough characters in this box to explain how terrible this class was! She's late, rude, gives way too much homework (on average 50 probs per assignment, which there are plenty of), never finishes problems on board, barely ever does any problem correctly, students have to correct her, homework is mandatory, and always has snide remarks
This class is an easy A. Do your homework and you'll be well prepared for the tests. The final exam questions are taken from the tests given. Using My Math Lab helped quite a bit because she is soft spoken and sometimes goes over the material quickly. She also offers extra credit.
She gives a lot of homework but I think it's necessary to learn the subject. However when she skips half of a difficult subject and only does simple examples in the class, you're going to have to take care of yourself. I love math but not her class.
Where do I begin? She starts doing a problem on the board only to erase it in the middle because "we should know this". You're pretty much on your own because her "lectures" are useless. But you still have to come because she has a huge obsession over attendance. Homework is heavy and you pretty much have to see a tutor to do well. NEVER TAKE HER.
I have never been bad at math, it has actually always been my favorite class, but Carter is one of the more incompitent professors I have ever had. She expects you to learn the chapters within one class period at times. Most of my class actually failed and when we asked for help she will talk down to you as if you were a child.
She is a very sweet lady. She gives out test reviews before every test that are identical to the test and gives alot of easy chances for extra credit. Homework is a bit heavy though.
She's a nice enough old lady, at least she's not gonna yell at you or call you stupid. She is, however, a little slow when showing us how to do problems and she will often go back and erasing or start over so don't write in pen! You will have homework every night but if you do the homework you will do well on the test. Show up on time!
I have been bad at math my entire life. I had previously taken College Algebra and got an F. Now I'm retaking it 4 years out of high school with no math other than "math for liberal arts majors" and I have a 100% in the class. If you do badly in her course its your own fault!! Extra credit for every test and offers homework grades
a kind teacher, however she's not very sure of how to or what she's teaching most of the time. Snarky comments are always made towards students and she arrives less prepared then most students. If you're ready to use a tutor I would take her class, otherwise, her material is unclear when she teaches
Has a tendency to rush through sections and sometimes makes unnecessary generalized comments about students who gets the wrong answer on something she finds easy. It's high school all over again. She takes attendance and assigns homework everyday. If you aren't good with math I would not recommend her, you will end up in tutoring all semester.
Took this class pre-covid & was refused the access code to use my online textbook and was told to just go get the physical textbook, which was on backorder. She did not use MyCourses at all at this time so due dates and grades came directly from her. Be prepared to get lost, b/c she will spend 15 minutes accidentally teaching the wrong material.
