A little weird... but very helpful and tests are easy!
A crazy lady, but so nice and interesting.
Can be very wierd at times, class is pretty easy, she was always willing to comprimise with the class
very funny, kept class interesting, worked with the students
she complimented my hair during every class :-/
Wierd...but has daily trivia questions, do the work, get the A.
She was my advisor and was not helpful at all. Also, it is pathetic to read some of the comments and see that college students do not know how to spell.
Excellent Professor, Attractive middle aged woman a plus as well. Fun class.
Cool Professor, enjoyable class.
Helpful and interesting, made the time go by fairly quickly, tests are open notes/open book, easy A or B
Very cool, funny and easy to understand
Mysterious personality, good teacher, not bad to look at either.

She has a unique personality but still teaches very well. She is prepared for class and goes over the material in good detail. I would reconmend her for MAT101 OR MAT102!!
She was an easy grader and fun in class. Basically a good teacher.. one of the better ones in the math department.
A little odd and can get a little side tracked sometimes but a very good teacher.
Very odd, but a fair teacher. Dropped the lowest test grade for my class which helped ALOT. Has a unique personality, but basically a pretty good teacher.
Look she may be weird, but that makes her unique, and really entertaining in class! Besides, the weird humor is just a bonus, because she is a really effective teacher! She only had to teach things once for the class to catch on! Take her!
Have you noticed that the students who complain are the ones who generally take the "required" math courses....the brighteset bulbs in the box I'd say. Should we spoon-feed you 'till you want to graduate?
you crybabies, she's a great prof - don't judge a book, yadda yadda. u should kno by now if u are an ED major that teachers have to be off the wall to hold interest!
She teaches things very slow which is good or bad, depending how you look at it.
took her twice, she's not terribly hard, but she moves very fast. i got a B both times i had her. i hate math but her class was fun, she's nuts and really funny. u can talk her into moving test days and extra credit and such.
LOVED this professor! She explains things very clearly, and takes time to go over things if people aren't "getting it." She makes ckass interesting, and her tests are not too hard.
I liked her. She is kinda weird and she can be moody but you take 4 tests and the worst one is dropped. She gives review sheets and is very good about what will be on the test. Do the homework because if you dont you wont understand. If you have any problems she will answer them in class.
I really liked her. I would take her again. I'm terrible at math, and she moves fairly slow and makes sure everyone understands before moving on. You're graded on 4 tests, (all of which she gives review sheets for)and the worst grade is dropped. Make sure to do homework and ask questions if you don't get it.
ughhh not a very good teacher, nice lady but cant teach for peanuts
Gallitano was a very good teacher... If you don't want to pay attention in class, or even study your notes then you will do badly. She gives out review worksheets (which the problems from the test come DIRECTLY from), and she went through the final exam question by question so that we would all have a chance of passing. Take her if you can!
Dr. Gallitano is a very good professor. I would recommend anyone to take her bc she moves at a good pace and keeps you interested to learn the material.
I have learned to like her. The whole class did terrible on a test and she gave all of us 20 points. She doesnt really "teach", she gives you problems and when you dont know how to do them she does them for you on the board. Its not a bad style of teaching. She never gets frustrated if you dont know something, she'll slowly show you the right way.
Excellent teacher. I would recommend her to anyone.
The class isnt to hard and she is really helpful, I liked her alot. If you like a sort of dry sense of humor like I do shes a great professor for you. Very helpful. A+
She is a really nice person. She is willing to help anyone. She is a little crazy because she comes in late and asks super random questions but her tests are very easy (multiple choice) and she has a really good pace to the course. I would strongly recommend her even if you're not too good at math.
She was funny, but a little strange sense of humor. However, I got a few good laughs from the class. She's a math wiz so she doesn't explain things well to those who aren't. If you struggle with math, she might not be the one for you. She was very fair though, drop lowest grade, but has common final (ugh). All in all, 4 tests plus a final.
Yes, she's wierd. She's a math prof, what do you expect. If you show the slightest bit of interest you'll pass the class and she's much better than the other professors in the department that you can't even understand because they don't speak English.
I would not recommend taking math methods with her at all. She seems to know math but has no place teaching an education class let alone a methods class. Unless you only want to know how to write a word problem and model it, avoid her for this class. I got an A but feel no more prepared to teach math than before I took her class. She also has very old school ideas about teaching methods, the learning process and inclusion. Spare yourself if you have to take methods.
She's cool. She does avoid teaching what she thinks students know, so if you need help, you have to ask.She gives u a chance to ask at the start of every class. She always answered my questions without an attitude and would do examples as many times as I needed.I liked her.She comes in class pleasant and makes jokes.
I do not know what these people are talking about. She is an excellent teacher. She always helped me out. She is a very caring person and love her students. Take her if you can and you will not regret it.
Wonderful teacher, extremely willing to work with you!
This lady is so dry and monotone. The information is relatively easy and she gave review sheets but the tests were hard and took forever. Don't buy the book, she says you need it then prints out the pages you need... also do the hw as you learn the sections, dont wait till the end of the semester. For real.
The material in this course is really not that difficult, the purpose is to learn and explore with the methods of teaching math in preparation to actually teach math to students. Dr. Gallitano is a little dry and isn't always clear. She is very particular on the tests according to her preferences and not actual correctness which is frustrating.
She came in with 4 weeks left having to back pedal significantly. Our class was so far behind. She seemed like she wanted to help us due to the situation w/previous prof. but never curved failing test grades like our old prof. did. She is dry/monotone. I think with a full semester she could be good. If no one else than take her.
She is the most confusing teacher I have ever had. She is monotone and never ever explains anything correctly. She always says the book made a mistake but it's actually her. I would not recommend anyone take her class.
This is a great professor and a good class. Her review sheets are great and just like the tests. As long as you study the tests are reasonable. Class is interesting, if you like math, and she is always enthusiastic and willing to help. I would recommend her to anyone. She truly knows the material so beware.
Not the greatest professor. She's confusing at times and doesn't explain things clearly. She makes mistakes often. The content of the class is easy and she takes her time going over the material. Review before every test and the tests are just like the review. Probably wouldn't take again.
I find Professor Gallitano to be a very good math professor. She explains things very clearly, gives excellent review sheets before each test, and is a fair grader. I would take her again and would recommend her to anyone.
Math is not my strong point but Dr. Gallitano was always willing to help whenever I needed it! She gives a lot of opportunities for students to do well. She gives easy take home projects and gives students plenty of time to complete them. She also takes a lot of time to review for tests which is helpful. She wants her students to do well ..
Dr. Gallitano provides great feedback for all assignments. She likes to let the students pick the types of assignments and the types of problems to be on tests and quizzes. Pay attention to her and passing the class should not be difficult. She does not use the textbook all that much so this could be one less expense for class.
Dr. Gallitano is an amazing professor! She teaches you all of these neat calculator tricks to help you solve the problems. If you attend every class & understand the material, you probably won't have to study hard for the tests, since they are all multiple choice. Her review tests are like her real tests, so I would do them--they're really helpful.
Dr. Gallitano is a excellent professor. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. Her tests are just like her review sheets and you get your grades back the next class after taking the test. Her lectures are very clear. I recommend her to anyone.
I really like this professor. She is very clear and wants you to do well. Her tests are reasonable and you get your grade back right away. I would take her again.
She's a really good professor, very clear and very fair. Knows a lot of neat math tricks and you can use the calculator in this class. I like her review sheets before each test. They are very helpful and you get your test grades back quickly. I would take her again for any math class.
Never teaches, expects the students to understand the material and go up and teach the class. Does not know how to explain problems or help the class understand material. Has a few tests and gives out review guides. Is not very helpful, I asked for help after I failed a test and she said, "well that's too bad." Always late to class.
This class wasn't difficult, confusing at times but if you ask for help she will provide you with help. She seems tough at first but will open up as the semester goes on. The tests can be somewhat difficult, but she provides review sheets for every test and reviews in class. Her personality seems rough at first but she is actually very funny!
Gallitano is one of the worst professors I've had. She's a nice person, but not so great of a teacher. She doesn't really know how to teach her own content and often calls on students to go to the board and do problems she hasn't taught. However, she does hand out study guides that are basically the test and the final was very easy.
The course I took with her was pretty easy for the most part. I had to teach myself a lot of the material though. She is really all over the place at times and mumbles a lot. She does not really "teach." I will say though, outside of class she is said to be a lot more helpful and easier to understand.. She is a nice person in general.
Great professor. I would take her again. Very fair grader and her tests are reasonable. Her review sheets are just like the tests and she actually goes over them before the test. Her lectures are clear as long as you listen.
Her class is easy as long as you pay attention (I was bad at paying attention so I didn't do well). Homework is all online and is due at the end of the semester. Her study guides are KEY! They are nearly identical to the tests. She takes attendance at the beginning of class, but if you were absent I don't think she counts it against you.
Dr. Gallitano is an excellent professor. I really learned a lot from her. She knows the material and lots of math tricks which are very helpful. I would take her again. Her review sheets before each test are excellent and she goes over them. She does the same for the final. Take her if you can you won't regret it.
Great professor. I had this class before and now realize how much better Dr. Gallitano is at explaining the material. I learned a lot and she is a fair grader. If you come to class and do the work you'll get a good grade. She explains things clearly. Take her if you can.
Professor Gallitano was hands down the best math professor I have ever had. She was clear and concise on every topic in Calculus. She is kind of funny in her own little way and always wants to make sure everyone understands the material, which is important during a Summer session. I'd recommend her over the other options in the math department.
- I bought the textbook & throughout the semester I realized it was a waste of money because she would just bring her textbook & use it on the overhead. She assigns homework in the textbook but doesn't check that you did it. In stead she goes over it. You do need to buy the access code for the online homework it could boost your grade up a lot.
Gallitano does a good job of explaining Stat but she can get a little boring. Her study guides before the tests are great because they are exactly like what she puts on the real test. I would take her again
The class is easy if you pay attention to the calculator shortcuts and remember them, she explains things in depth and gives you all the tools to pass the tests. DO THE REVIEWS!!!! The only negative thing I have to say is that she might have the worst attitude I have ever seen in a professor and can be very rude at times. Would take again.
Proff Gallitano is really sarcastic and I always messed around in her class. I missed the class a lot and still passed with an A. Do the HW reviews bc the tests are always very very similar once you know how to solve the problems on the reviews and you'll do fine on all the tests. She gives you a couple problems to do every class for HW super easy
Professor Gallitano is an excellent teacher. She is reasonable and clearly explains the material. Her review sheets before each exam are excellent and she goes over them in detail. I would take her again.
Loved Dr. Gallitano! She teaches the material very well and actually lets you use your graphing calculator on the exams which makes them super easy. Make sure you go to lecture though because she tends to take attendence
She is a good professor. The class isnt too bad, sometimes she goes off on tangents but she knows the material and teaches it in a good way. She will answer your questions and will try to help you but sometimes she comes off as rude. You have online homework that isnt due until the end of the semester. Study guides help a lot!
Best math teacher ive ever had. No teacher has been able to help me fully understand a topic of math except Dr. Gallitano. She seems super serious but is really really nice. Go to class, pay attention, ask questions, and you'll get an A . I'm always scared to ask dumb questions but Dr. Gallitano will answer them without making you feel stupid.
She is an amazing teacher. If you pay attention or just do the review sheet you will get an A. Her review is almost the same as the test and its all multiple choice
Go to class and you will get an A. She hands out reviews for every exam and they are extremely helpful. She will teach you exactly how to use your calculator to do problems. If you but in the effort to review and attend her lectures, you will never get a bad grade.
Dr. Gallitano is not a very nice or approachable lady, but she definitely makes this class hard to fail. Homework is online and due at the end of the semester. She realizes nobody in the class is a math major and just wants you to do well. Never miss a class or you'll fall behind immediately.
Dr. Gallitano's class isn't hard, but she isn't a good professor. She fails to teach the theory behind the material, opting for merely stating the buttons you should push on your calculator for the right answer (never the "why" behind it). One time, a student asked a question and she answered "Uh well, that's why it's confusing." Nice lady, though.
Great Professor. I would take her again. The review sheets before each test are very helpful and she explains everything in great detail. She's also helpful outside of class and explains how to use the calculator for most problems.
Gallitano isn't awful at teaching, but she could benefit from making topics much clearer and more understandable. The reviews help, as she goes over them, but they never match up well with the tests. There's little room to mess up here. Also, the homework is too time consuming, and is easily the most frustrating part of this class. Don't take her.
I really like the way this Professor teaches. She is clear in presenting the material. Her review sheets before the tests are very helpful and right on. She is nice to the students and answers questions without any problems. I would take her again.
Awesome teacher, bombed calc the first time I took it but Dr. G is great. She teaches you a lot of shortcuts instead of doing the long boring method. Homework is worth a test grade which helps a ton. Always available in her office and truly wants to help you out. Lets you use a calculator on tests too which is huge.
Dr. Gallitano is really clear when explaining the material. She's very easily swayed by her students and there's not really much homework which is nice. Her review sheets are exactly like her tests and she makes the class pretty easy.
This is the second semester I took Dr. Gallitano, since I loved her so much from Stat. I could't understand calc for the life of me until I had her. Gives study guides for each exam and all tests are multiple choice. Teaches you things the easy way. Be ware, tests are harder than the study guide so study the harder problems from your notes.
A funny professor who seems overly intimidating at first impression, but becomes extremely likable over the semester. The textbook was not used one time, she prints out the pages needed and gives them to you.
Took her over the summer. She was a blast. She really knows what she is teaching about and makes it somewhat easy to learn. Enjoyed 113 in summer probably wouldnt like in in a regular semester.
For someone who hates math, she is a perfect choice. Gives all shortcuts instead of doing anything the long way. Exams are multiple choice and you can always use a calculator!! That's a big help. She may go a little fast at times but if you just ask a question she is more than willing to stop and explain. Take her!
Professor Gallitano is an awesome prof, she is so funny and makes all the homework's due the last day of the semester, which is cool but if you forget about it, its a lot. She gives a ton of examples and prepares you for exams I recommend taking her.
She is by far the worst professor I have ever had. Half the time she doesn't know how to teach the lesson and asks a student to demonstrate it instead. I missed a test and she told me I could come in anytime and take it. The next day I told her I was coming in and she said I had to before 11. I go at 10 and then she yells at me that its too early..
Best math teacher yet. She gives review sheets for all tests and actually goes over them. The class activities were very interesting and she shows you how to do the problems using the best method. I would take her again.
Gallitano is very caring and really wants everyone to do well. She will push tests back if she feels the class isn't ready. She can be a bit disorganized and confusing at times, but overall she is good at explaining the material. Stat in general can be a little hard if you're not math minded, but she tries to make it accessible to everyone.
For someone who was terrified of taking Business Calculus, Gail made this class a breeze. She takes her time to explain things. She shows you the long way then explains the short cut or how to use a graphing calculator instead. Gives and goes over study guides. Online hw due at the end of semester. Highly recommend to those that struggle with math!
She is very intimidating and tries her best to be as nice as she can, but at least she teaches us short cuts for the tests, she hates steps in math problems and will show you how to plug it in or a quick method. 5 tests for calculus and one of them is Pearson homework, the first two tests are difficult but you'll learn how she teaches as you go on
She was very intimidating at first but she is my favorite professor I took her over summer and I am terrible at math and she helped me pass. If you go to her office hours she will work problems through step by step for her. She will go over anything you dont understand and wants you to do good. TAKE HER IF U CAN
She is a very caring professor who wants you to succeed. However, she is disorganized and sometimes spends too much time on the same topics. Perfect class if youve already taken a Stat class in high school, but I wouldnt take her class if you dont know anything about statistics.
She is one of my favorite professors on campus. Ive taken her twice and she will always help you. Go to her office if you need extra help and she will sit with you and go over the problems. The study guides are the exams. Highly recommend her.
She taught mat121 and it was online because of covid but she made it super easy. Wasnt a class you had to worry about. She goes over material very slowly and well. Will always answer questions and goes over a very specific study guide with questions on the test every tim. The work done in this class was three test and one homwork assignmen per wee
Dr. Gallitano is my favorite professor so far at WCU. I've taken her twice and each time have been impressed by her. She presents information in a very simple manner by making sure everyone understands the material before moving on, and she listens to students about what works for them. Anyone giving her a bad review is a bad student straight up.
Prof Gallitano is the best professor I've had. Her class is easy to follow, she gives really good review packets and goes over tests before you take them. Shes so nice and genuinely cares about her students. Although I had this class over zoom I still did really well and felt like I actually learned.
If you have to take math online take her if you can. Tests do not have any surprises and she goes over a review sheet with a lot of similar questions. Homework counts as a full test grade which helps too. She is great and wants you to succeed
I took Math History, and it was largely a joke. The course material was extremely easy but the workload was taxing; there was a summary essay due weekly + other projects. She created her exams using student questions and evidently did not bother to check them for factual or grammatical accuracy, nor difficulty. She's kind, but not a great teacher.
She is the best math professor to take. She cares about her students, gives great reviews before each test, and actually explains the material clearly. She has a lot of experience and knows her stuff. She is a fair grader. I would take her again.
Professor Gallitano is great. Her tests are easy and the content is also easy.
Calc is hard but Gallitano makes it so easy. She has very interactive classes that allows all students to learn. She has review classes for every exam and a formula sheet. She gives extra credit for participating. If you have to take calc, take her!
I have the History of Math with Gallitano now and I really like it. We learn some history and also math. The math problems are done like the ancient mathematicians did them and then we use modern methods to do the same problems. There is a lot of writing and many assignments. There are 3 tests. If you do the work you'll get a good grade.
Gail is super nice, but a lot of the time she just does the work without really explaining it. Grading wise, she's incredible. For instance, she curves test scores no matter what, reduces the percentage that the final is worth, and takes off our worst HW score. A lot of opportunities for extra credit as well!
She really cares about her students and is a great professor
Gallitano is not very demanding, she is very old school teaching. She doesn't actually teach you the math problems but shows you a bunch of them on the board. I haven't done great on the test because they are no calculator tests. She gives you a lot of time to do your homework and its unless tries too. She also tries helping you with grades after.
I loved Professor Gallitano! Homework is online and the first half is due by the middle of the semester and the second half is due by the end of the semester. Test are very similar to her reviews. If you are ever struggling with the material go to her office hours!! I went multiple times the past year and it she was always helpful.
She is a super good professor. She gives you all the information you need and does problems over and over again. You need to go to class though, because she does not post the notes/ activities anywhere. Even though I thought this was an easy class, I still studied and prepared for her exams. If you go to class you will do well in her class.
TAKE HER!!!! Explains everything very clearly and answers all questions. She goes through all types of problems you'll see on the test. Goes over a complete review before each test and they look exactly like the tests. Tests are all multiple-choice. The final is the same. Homework is online and you complete it whenever. I literally got 100% overall
Expect to do math every lecture, if you skip make sure you know someone so they can send you the work for the day. She provided printed out textbook papers for each unit which was very helpful. For every test you were allowed to use the formula sheet she gave out and she provided a review packet for every test which was basically a practice test.
Very personable. Very fair grading. Tests not hard. Class (History of Math) is heavy on reading and writing. If you do all the homework, study for the tests, pay attention in class, it's not hard to get an A.
Professor Gallitano is the best! If you have to take calculus, take it with her. She makes it so easy to understand and wants you to pass. She truly cares about her students. Math lectures in general can be so boring, but she makes it interesting says the funniest things. 10/10
Great professor for Calculus! Take her if you can! She explains the concepts well and the exams are exactly like the study guide and all multiple choice.
best math teacher i have ever had!!
Gail makes this class easy while the material may look challenging. She's funny as well. Tests are online but you won't even have to cheat with how clear she teaches the material.
I would NOT recommend taking this class with Professor Gallitano if math isn't your strong suit. As someone who struggles with math, I found this class to be very frustrating. She made it hard for many of us to understand the material and didn't go out of her way to help if you were confused.
Gallitano makes calc easy. She provides helpful resources like review packets and formula sheets. unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside the class materials. Take this class if you can!
If you actually pay attention she is really good at teaching and making sure everyone understands. There is a good amount of homework but only two due dates the whole semester. She allows you to either take the tests on paper or computer. Always open to answering questions and explaining.
Every class she gave us math problems with no instruction and she would then rush through giving the answers so groups could give presentations. The textbook was actually great to read and I would have liked more of a discussion on the history and how the math works. Her tests were student-generated questions and they were often wrong or irrelevant
I feel like she really cares about her students and their success! She even counts HW as test grades! If you skip class, you will not pass. The content is not difficult, she explains it well and and answers questions thoroughly. She will make hilarious comments which make the whole class laugh! I would suggest taking her!
Good: Easy to reach by email & quick to respond; textbook is a good read Bad: 50% of each test is student-made questions, some of which are incorrect and/or contradict each other; you learn more from your peers' presentations than you do from her; in-class work is unhelpful content-wise & she makes basic math mistakes, memorization > learning
easy class with an easy professor as long as you pay attention in class.exams are multiple choice other than the final and she gives you reviews that are identical to the exam. She is weird and has her quirks but I did well in this class. Attendance is mandatory, but she takes it via a piece of paper so you can easily write it in if you miss.
If you aren't a good test taker or if you aren't good at math....do NOT take her. Changed her exams from last semester - ALL of my exams were in person on a scantron. Didn't think she was the best professor. Basically taught myself this entire semester. Only grades the ENTIRE semester are 3 exams (19% each) homework grade (19%) and a final (24%)
Took her Spring 2025. Overall, if I had more time, my grade would have been an A. As a professor, she's her class is relatively easy for a Level 400 class. Easy to reach out to via email. Her lectures seem a little pointless and her exams feel lazy. She takes student-made questions and doesn't check for errors. DON'T EAT IN HER CLASS....
She's a quirky old lady lol. Always let us out early and her work was generally easy to follow. She gives you the entire semester to do the homework with only two hard due dates. Exams are easy if you do the reviews. She lets you use your calculator and a formula sheet. Attendance mandatory but she uses one sheet of paper for it the entire course
Her lectures don't teach you how to do brief calc it's more showing the students that she could do it. I recommend taking someone else but, If you get stuck its ok. Graded on 4 exams including a final and homework that is due at the end of the semester. Says attendance is mandatory and takes it every class but wasn't counted towards final grade.
