ok teacher kinda boring though from 30 plus students we dropped to around 14 I do not know people are dropping when the class was really easy.

Nice teacher, but I think she grades a little harshly on tests. Otherwise she's willing to help you if you ask questions.

I am terrible at math so I dreaded taking it AGAIN.Gail speaks perfectly clear english, gives extra points for doing hmwrk, and although she is a tough test grader, she is fair. She ALWAYS made sure we understood a subject b4 we moved on. Thank you Gail! P.S.to that person who failed everything...mayb if u quit textin during class u woulda passed!!

Gail is a very nice woman, and really does not care what you do in class. Personally, i knew most of the material and was able to only come in on test days and ace all the tests. some people may need to go more often, but if you need a break from this class, its pretty easy to just take the day off (so long as there is not a test on that day)

Great teacher. She not only made it really easy and understandable, she also really encouraged me in school in general. Always takes time to answer ALL questions, even when it's the same question she answered two minutes ago. Very good at explaining something in a different way if you didn't understand it at first.

She is good teacher but her test are really hard & most of grading is based on tests, she let u drop 1 quiz n a test but there r no make up tests & quizzes. She is very helpful but if u r not good at taking test, dont take her. Her Tests are very hard n she doesn't give study guides!

She is a great teacher, but her test are really hard. You just have to try hard and do the homework suggested. I really worked hard on this class an came out with an A.

She's a really nice person who tries her best to help you.... except when it comes to making up tests or quizzes. You are allowed to drop 1 test and quiz, but other then that-nothing can be made up. She did have a practice test on blackboard for every test, which was very helpful. Attendance is not mandatory.. but you should go if you want an A.

Laurent is fantastic for those who have no interest in math and are just trying to get the credits. She moves at a comfortable pace and is very helpful to everyone who asks for help. She does give tough tests, though, and the final came as a complete surprise, as she didn't go over the depth of questions in class. I'm taking her for 0482

She is very clear when explaining. If you get confused, she is always willing to help, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Tests are not too bad if you study. Overall, I would highly recommend her!

She is the most down to earth women ever. She really wants you to learn something in her class. Just projects and tests. Tough grader but you have to study. If you have questions she is happy to help. Tough class but extremely nice teacher!

A good teacher but gives extremely hard tests. This is the first math class that I've gotten a B in. Lots of in class activities which is a nice change up from doing problems on the board. Would take again.

She's a nice lady and will help you privately, but the class as a whole was not good. The tests are killer and she doesn't go over homework problems at all in class. It's right to the next lesson. Don't take this class as an 8 week course. Too hard to learn all the material.

Took as 8 WK course. Wow never have I had to work so hard for a "C". Math is not my strength but when you can comprehend the book and still struggle its frustrating.I agree with all the other comments she will definatly help you out but VERY HARD TESTS.

Very good teacher...she is always willing to give extra help, shows up to to class very early and makes herself very accessible...She is also very prompt on grading quizzes and tests...Took her over the summer and got an A, though I did work very hard...I highly recommend her!

It has been a while since I took this class, and have had a few math teachers since. After this time, I can say with confidence that she was the best math teacher I have ever had. She took the time to make sure everyone understood the material and broke everything down to bite-sized portions. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

she is a really nice teacher always wants to help her students. you have to do some homework and write some papers.(weird i know. writing papers for math class)test are hard! would recommend her to any student that needs to take this class.

Laurent is a great teacher! Before her, I didn't really like or get math. Now I can understand it because she will show more than one way to find a solution. The class itself was pretty relaxed. The only bad thing about her is she isn't teaching 0481 next semester

She teachs well and attendance isn't mandatory. There is homework but she is pretty leniant on due dates. She's always available for extra help but the tests are pretty hard if you don't read the book and do the practice problems she gives you.

Wonderful professor. The homework is very helpful in regards to tests. She will help you in any way possible. Made the content of the class very understanding.

She is a great teacher who takes the time to help her students. She explains everything in depth and answers questions. She makes learning math actually enjoyable, if that is possible. She is more than fair, you just have to do the work and be committed.

Business Calc. I did not know much business from my part, but she explained it well. Otherwise, if you take notes, and do some practice, youll be set for the tests. Sometimes she has random quizzes, so dont skip alot, but often those are partner or take home. So just take notes, study, and do some homework, and you should do fine.

I had her for both 1321 and 1322 and I think she a very good teacher. You use the book a lot and the tests look like the problems in the book. If you have any questions, you can always go to her. She is very clear on what she is teaching and I enjoyed her class very much! Would highly recommend her!

she's a great teacher who explains things very well and listens to the concerns of her students. it was a hard class but she taught it well and was willing to help before and after class

Math is not my strongest subject but Prof. Laurent does her best to help students understand the material. Class consisted of notes, quizzes/tests. Homework seemed optional although she said she would collect it some days. The homework should be done either way. Attendance is important so that you can keep up with the material.

She is very nice and accomodating. She teaches the class at a consistent rate, not too slow and not too fast. Very clear & understandable on her lectures, esp problem solving. Tests are straight forward but her review problems are a lot related to the tests. Grading system is reasonable. Actual class curriculum is hard, but she makes it bearable.

She's a good teacher, and can answer the problems that are given to her. She goes through problems pretty well and is good at clarifying questions. The only problem I had with this class is that her tests are hard. Many of the average test scores in the class were in the 70 range. I have friends in the same class with other teachers that get easy A

Prof. Laurent was a great teacher. I have taken business calculus like 5 times before, but if i had her I would've been done with calc long time ago. She curved 2 tests, dropped 2 quizzes. Take her and work your butt off and you'll be ok :)

Okay, anyone who says she is mean or tough is ridiculous. She makes it clear and lives up to her word in helping out students as much as She can. The course itself is hard, but she does a great job of making it as doable as possible. Tests are not horrible as long as you know the Concepts you will be fine. She explains everything very clearly!

She's a very nice lady. Her tests are fairly challenging but it's still doable as long as you study hard. Even so, she always gives you an extra 10 extra credit points which can help you succeed. There are also additional homework points through MyMathLab which can help you understand the subject better. You won't go wrong with taking her

Very nice teacher. I had my doubts about this class but learned a lot. Must take good notes. If you're having a hard time. Go to her and she'll help out. That is what I loved about the class. You can learn a lot by just being in her class. Don't skip a day. If you do, you can miss alot. Thanks

I took her class in the summer semester, not a good idea for someone like me who already struggles with math. She was very nice, but I wasn't a fan of her teaching method. She went too quickly, of course we had to cover two chapters in one day. Perhaps she's better in non-summer semester.

Professor Laurent was fantastic!! She is super sweet! I really enjoyed her class, which says a lot because I am not a math person. This class requires critical thinking and hard work on the problem solving assignments - don't wait til the last minute to do them!!

great tacher. she will be always there if you need help. but this class was hard for me. tests are hard make sure you study notes and practice homework problems.

Professor Laurent is my favorite teacher that I've ever had. She is such a sweet lady and really cares about her students. She is very helpful and encourages students to come to her office or to the math assistance center to get help if they are struggling. She does a great job of making math make sense! Take this class!!

I am at University of Wisconsin-Madison now. For being a great university my math professor does not touch Gail. She is truly an amazing teacher, she cares about her students and is always willing to explain problems. Sticks to her lectures and homework problems. Tests are hard but go to class and do homework and you'll do fine. Ask questions!!

She is so great. Business calc was graded by 4 tests and 5 quizzes. However, she curves and you can always take an optional final to get your grade up. 1 quiz is also not counted (the worst one). I enjoyed her class

love the way she teaches by giving different examples of how to solve a problem . just do every hw and then at end of year review it

Professor was great at breaking things down for you. Does give a lot of homework but it really helps with learning the material especially since its math. Text book is only needed for homework, but comes in handy especially for the tests. Graph paper and different colored pens or colored pencils are really helpful and helps with organization.

I personally have never felt as if math was so clear in a class. I took this as a summer course so it went by VERY fast. If you're not willing to put in a considerable chunk into studying, I wouldn't recommend this class.

She was the most caring professor I have ever had. I am horrible at math and this course did not even count toward a credit but I needed to pass it to move forward. She made she I understood everything and was so nice and sweet. I would recommend her to anyone!

At this course level, Gail is a great instructor. Her lectures are clear, and she makes her notes available, which is a real time-saver. She makes herself available, and responds promptly to emails. If I could take her for my next class, I would, for sure. Do the homework; find a work group - it really helps. Ask questions

She is nice and does care, but she also talks to you like children sometimes. Reading the textbook is helpful, but going to lecture is important. I really liked the content of this class and was happy to have her as the professor. Reading the textbook before class definitely helps!

Online 8wk corona summer class. Theres about 5-8 assignments a week along with 1-2 quizzes usually pretty long. 4 exams no final. Since rona all exams were taken online proctored by a zoom call. Its weighted so 75% is exams 10% hw 15% quizzes. The exams make or break ur grade and u teach urself the entire course. Dont take if ur not good at math

You can't expect a good grade without showing a college level effort. If you know Pre-calculus then you need to work at least 16 hours every week out of the class and if not then be ready to struggle. Tests are really hard but the good thing is that she curves them. Just pay attention, keep working and you will be good.

She's really not that bad as anyone says. She gives alot of homework, but they're easy if you follow the lectures. Her lectures are very friendly and knowledgable. Goes over everything that are on tests, that are the study guides. She usually curves around 20 percent, so if I got a 72 I'd get around 88-90. I loved her, I will take her again.

This class is 100% based off of test scores, with the lowest score dropped. There is no assigned homework, however the book problems are helpful for review. Lectures are note based, very streamlined and simple to understand. Simply paying attention/taking notes is enough to earn you a good grade. Examples and test questions are very similar!
