Dont take her classes, she is too hard.
Great professor!! She explains the material thoroughly and makes it interesting. Her tests are hard so take lots of notes!!! Get her if you're tired of boring History professors!!!

This woman was the worse teacher I have ever had. She's way too old to be teaching. She was hardly ever organized, she would forget what she was talking about, and she graded on whether she liked you or not. I would strongly advise no one take her class!!
I liked her class for the most part, you can tell she really likes teaching and she makes her lectures interesting. take lots and lots of notes her tests will come entirely from your notes!

Most unreasonable teacher I HAve ever had, I was not even enrolled in gorgon when she gave a homework assignment out and my first day in her class was when it was due and she gave me a 0 for it would not let me make it up and wouldn'y omit it...she is just plain out bad 50% of her studenst drop her.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She grades to hard, but she is interresting. I make As and Bs in all of my classes but I failed her class.
This has got to be the worst teacher at Gordon College. Normally I am an A/B student and I failed her class. 95% of my class failed. Grades very unfair and never tries to help you out. Very unorganized and unhelpful. Do not recomend. This woman should be fired!
Dr. Parsons is a very abrasive and confusing teacher. I was not pleased with her teaching methods at all. Her lectures and assignments were completely irrelavent to her exams.She also showed a tendency to use scissors on multiple student's homework assignments. She was eccentric, to say the least.
Don't be fooled by the nice old lady appearance. She is known to make everything in the class very difficult. Most students even failed the homework assignments, homework is suppose to be the easiest grades. Test are all essay, even if you use your notes on test you will still fail. never take her!!

Dr. Parsons is a very interesting teacher. She has a unique approach to teaching her students. She is hard, and not caring. She does not care about hurting anyone's feelings, and will say what's on her mind. My advice is to suck up and study a lot (but don't act like a "know-it-all") and you MIGHT get a B.
Yes she is tuff, but if you study her NOTES then you'll pass the class. I made a B, and I never thought I would like Hist, but she MAKES you pay attention. She focuses on critical thinking! I loved her,and I'm taking her again.
this professor is unwilling to admit when she was wrong. I took the book to her that was written by professors at princeton unviersity and pointed out to her that my definition matched theirs and she said that the book was wrong. I about flipped out. Her tests are all essays and your opinoin must be the same as her.

Woman's crazy
Gave me a zero for an assignment that was handed out and taken up before I was ever even enrolled in the class and told me it wasn't fare to the other students for me to have that assignment not to count towards my grade that I would just have to take a ze

Love the lectures, they are very interesting. Not too sure about the tests. Just took one today and I feel good about it, but I guess we'll find out for sure Thursday.

Very bad teacher, does not incourage student involvment, which I believe is the key to getting students intrested and make it easy for them to learn, I asked a question which generated a class discussion and this infurated her she yelled at me and kept me after class. I would not recommend taking her class if you want to learn or pass the class.

Be prepared to take a ton of notes and concentrate on the significance of what is lectured about rather than the actual facts. Not bad, is willing to help if you come to class. I got an A and I didn't study much out of class. Lots of essay questions, if I remember correctly, she doesn't give multiple choice exams or quizes.
If you really enjoy history and are used to studying and taking good notes, Parsons is a good teacher to take. But you have to get in to what she's saying and be nice. Otherwise, take someone else
Recently took a test in this class. After class, a few others and I compared papers. We had same answers but were given different credit amounts. Explain that! I will say that I have never enjoyed history before now. Her lectures are very interesting. Her tests will blow your mind!
She seems nice at first, but shows her true colors after you don't drop her class. Her tests are all essay questions, and there are only three the whole semester and those are basically your only grades. She grades your essays grammatically and will count off if you misspell something or don't capitalize. DO NOT TAKE HER!! She is a total b****!
She is very enthusiastic about history, knows what she is talking about & explains it clearly & in modern day terms to make it more understandable. however..her tests are very hard, she grades them a little harshly i think. wouldn't necessarily recommend her.
I would recommend taking abnormal psycology along with her class so there might be some understanding of her behavior. She grades very harshly and nearly everyone will be failing...then she starts giving hundreds of points through e-mails and acts as your personal savior. very unprofessional behavior for a college professor. Take Dr.Butts instead.
The teacher gives hardly any grades. So if you fail one test then it is possible to fail the class. Also, she is the most unclear teacher I have ever experienced. I recommend not to get her.
Probably the worst Professor I have ever had. I do very well in History classes for the most part, but she made it miserable. If she says something will be on the test, and you write exactly what she said, you will probably fail the test. Also, she cries when she teaches about Lincoln. I don't recomend her at all.

Yeah go ahead and take her if you want to fail!!! She's very hard and grades hard too. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take her class. If she starts crying while teaching just over look that part and continue trying to learn. :-(

I can actually pay attention in that class and learn.... but I can't pass. Unless you have the same brain waves as her it's going to be a hard path for you. In other words, it's pretty much impossible. goodluck people.

Dr. Parsons is not easy; that being said I don't think college is supposed to be. She is very passionate about the subject and expects the students undivided attention. There are no multiple choice tests, all are complete sentence answers. I adjusted to how she teaches and got an A in the class.

Ok.... if you can devote every minute of your life to studing then take her class! She is very moved and into History but she is just impossible to pass!!! Dr. Parsons is a wonderful teacher and attempts to emphasize the importance of developing a strong work ethic among her students. Dr. Parsons class is extremely straightforward and would be beneficial for any serious college student. I recieved an "A" in the class and anyone can get an "A" if he or she is willing to put forth the effort.
This lady is crazy. She is rediculous in her grading.She grades essay questions like they are term papers and more harshly than my english professors. I would not recomend anyone take her class unless you want to lower your GPA and waist your time.
This has by far been the toughest class I've had at Gordon. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS DURING THE SUMMER SESSION. You learn alot about History, she is very passionate and emotional about her lectures. I worked my butt off and got a C.I was happy to get a C

It doesnt matter if you come to class and do all the work and do well, you will not recieve the grade you deserve you get the grade she thinks. DROP IT!

Dr. Parsons makes history interesting. Make sure you pay attention and take good notes in class. I would not sugggest missing a class (too much information) FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON HANDOUTS AND TESTS! I was told to drop her class by other students before it was too late. I made a B which was great with me. Just realize you are in college now!
I would not recommend taking Dr. Parsons class!!! I make A's in history, and did not pass her class!!! Her grading is based on how much she likes you. For example, a couple of other students and I were comparing answers when we got our tests back; we all had different scores for the EXACT same answer!!! She definately has to be in control!
She's hard and grades like a mad woman. she is very picky. she's a very sweet woman though. if you try, she sees it and goes easier on you than if you just do not try. DO THE HOMEWORK, study your notes. doesn'te really use the book. I thought it was impossible to pass (from what I had heard) but it really isn't.
I studied. I read. Rinsed. Repeated. I made a D, and she made me cry. I was lucky to get that... most people failed or just didnt show up to the final. If your brain isn't a tape recorder, just go ahead and drop this class. Do it for yourself AND your GPA.
If you want an easy A, don't take this class. If you want to actually learn something, I highly recommend it. Dr. Parsons has a true passion for what she is teaching and as long as you respect that, pay attention, and do the assignments, it isn't that bad. Even though I made a B, I can honestly say that I learned something. Isn't that the point??!!
Ok if you want an A... you have to be her favorite... have to know notes word for word. And even then good luck. People say if you want an easy A dont take her but if you want really want to learn something take her... that is BS... I have learned a lot from other professors who work with you and are a lot more understanding. & i like history

Dr. Parsons really loves history & wants to share it with you. Unfortunately she wants you to remember it EXACTLY how she told it. If she tells you the flag is red, white and blue and you tell her it's blue white and red- you're very wrong.

I took the class during the summer! I am glad it is a very stressful class but I took really good notes and listened closely and passed w/ a "B". Her test are very hard just go in there knowig that and don't miss a class!!!If you take this class you will have a completely different outlook on History!
She gives good lectures and keeps you interested, BUT her test are sort of hard. She wants you to write the answer exactly how she said it in class. For example if she said white stars with red and blue stripes and I say red and blue stripes with white stars then it is wrong!! I think that is stupid and only used textbook just two or three times.
I really can't think of a worse teacher. The way she grades is not about right/wrong answers, its about whether or not you said it EXACTLY like she said it, or if you're one of her favorites. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Started out ok...but as the semester progressed, professor failed at giving help. I went up to her one day after a lecture to ask a few more questions on things that weren't explained clearly and she told me she wasnt going to repeat anything and i can find the answers on my own. Students are entitled to their questions..she fails to answer.

She's a great teacher, but she gives you everything in the notes! If you take her class you will learn more than you ever thought, but you better show up for this one! Her test is directly from her (only verabal) notes. She is very clear in lecture, and she will work with you if you need help. Wonderful lady :)

she does not like helping students or clarifying statements. She calls her students dumb and "just not smart enough". Dr Parsons loves to make u feel less than you are, she gets off on making people feel like they are not smart enough for her class. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
She's very passionate about history. Her tests are all short answers and if they're not the way she wants them, they're wrong. I got an A in the class bc she made it where if you got an A on the final, you got an A in the class. She does help those who stay in her class longer than mid-semester.

Dr. Parsons rocks! She really enjoys history and she's enthusiastic about teaching it. If you take good notes, learn what she's looking for and treat her respectfully then it's a great class.She's not easy but she makes it interesting. omg donot take this lady at all. she is too passionate about american hist. she grades soo crazy, even if ur answer is rite she will mark it wrong b/c its not how she wants the answer to be worded. she is super crazy (literally). our class started off with 30ppl and ended up with 10ppl and out of those 10ppl 2 made an A.
Do not take this course unless you thrive w/ challenges. She is super hard and if you do not answer a question in her EXACT words than it is wrong, even if two words were a bit different. I passed w. an A but only bc of super hard work, this teacher makes you work and makes you earn your grade. She is extremly passonitate abt Hist

Hang in there and give her a chance! she hates the big class size, but after everyone drops and there are only 5-10 people left she is totally different! She comes to work on a broomstick... In my opinion history is subjective and open to interpretation and analysis of both sides, she only wants you to learn her side. Finding flaws in her theories will get you a kick in the nuts...

She has to have been one of the hardest professors I have ever taken, Drill Instructors were easier. She counts everything. She does not care about attendance but to pass her class you need to be present. Great teacher after mid-term though. If you want to learn she is the professor for the job.
Mrs. Parsons kept history interesting considering I never liked history. She teaches well and I learned alot, but her test are hard. If you don't word them exactly like how she would say it then your answer is wrong. You have to use her wording. She does intimidate you in class if your answer if not good enough.

I took her Am Hist II class last semester, and I must say that it was the most bs class I've ever taken in my life. She failed me along with most of the rest of the class. I had a 3.5 gpa until I took Dr. Parsons' class. All I have to say is if you need a history, you should find another professor who won't waste your time or money.

Dr. Parson's is one of the few professors at Gordon that is the perfect example of what a professor at a major university would be like. She expects you to think and write on a college level and will not accept anything less. The test questions come directly from her lectures and wants clean and simple responses.
If you take her class chasing grades, you will fail. If you are serious about broadening your knowledge and study habits, you will be fine. Best professor at Gordon. Everyone should be required to take her AND PASS in order to graduate.
I have taken her twice and all I can say for those that have failed her class is that you were not meant for college. She is a professor that helps weed out the slackers and flunkies of the "No Child Left behind Era". She informs you on the first day of class she is not easy and those of us who pass her class are what graduate from college.

If you value your GPA, don't take this class. All test are essay type answers. And those answers MUST be exact (I repeat, exact). I didn't receive half of my papers back, so I have no idea how I did.And never received the grade for my final.I had a GPA of 3.62 and left her class with a 2.0. She belittles her students.

She's very hard. She grades harshly and shows no mercy. For example: I answered a test quesion right and she marked it wrong because it wasn't worded the way she wanted it to be worded. She will cancel class without warning. I'd recommend someone else.

She is extremely picky on grading her tests!If you dont write the answer the way she wants it written you will fail. DO NOT take her unless you absolutely have to.
Dr. Parsons is an exellent professor. Her class is by far one of the hardest I have taken, but that's why you have to attend class and listen to her lectures. If you miss class, you can expect to fail or get a D. If you show her respect, she'll do the same for you. I'm an average student and passed her class with a B.
this teacher is very tough how ever you will learn a ton. shes a really rough grader.you could easily get negative points on a test because she grades on grammer and spellin and she wants less than 3 sentences.over all she was okay. i had a 44 at midterm and ended up with a b after the final because of the bonus points she gave out before breaks.

I loved Dr. Parsons! I would not say she is hard, but she is extremely specific. She grades on grammar as well as history. (but let's face it, you're in college... learn how to spell!)If you write down exactly what she says and listen to her you will do great! Do not over answer a question, she likes it short and sweet.
I would not recommend taking her class. Tests are short answer. You choose 10 to answer out of 15. Not as hard as I thought but you have to know your stuff. She expects you to be there and grades on grammar, wording, and facts. I had all answers right once and failed her test because it was not to her standards. True college professor.
She's very intelligent but is seriously a hard-ass. Not only is she controlling, un-helpful, and highly opinionated (it bleeds into her lectures badly), but she is downright rude. Be straight to the point on tests and very friendly to her face to pass.
Dr. Parsons is a great professor. Yes, she is HARD. She expects the most out of her students and no, she will not pass you if you do not put 110% effort into the class. Her tests are hard, so it makes you want to come to class so you do not miss a thing. If you like a challenge, she is the best teacher.
This class was crazy hard. Her lectures are nice but her grading on her quizes are aweful. She is very particular in what she wants written down.

Terrible professor. I recommend that you do not take this class. She grades the grammar more than the history. It's more of an English class. She really is just to old to be teaching. It's just not worth taking.
Very bad teacher
Dr. Parsons is one of the better professors at Gordon. She places emphasis on reading the question and providing accurate answers. Study the history(subject of course). It took me a better part of the semester to understand the quality of work she desired. Slow down, listen to what she asks of you. Dr. Parsons helped me become a critical thinker.
Worst Professor at Gordon by far! Besides the 15% PASSING rate. She grades based off of grammar and how much she likes the student, not on correct answers. We started with a class of 25. 15 withdrew, and only 2 received an A. If you're stupid enough to take her class... good luck.
I'm guessing most people who rated her poorly failed. She's a very hard professor, but she taught me how to study and take notes/tests. She expects you to be responsible for learning what she teaches. This is college for a reason. Her class was brutal but she's one of the best professors at Gordon. I passed her class with B. It isn't impossible.
Nope. Don't do it. Dr. Parsons is a teacher who is very attached to the US history. Her class is extremely hard, she takes off for grammar and if your answers aren't word for word what she wanted you're screwed. AND YES I DID STUDY. Good luck to ya.
Lectures with passion. She spoke to her students with no respect. Takes joy in humiliating students in front of others. Test answers better be word for word her lecture or you are wrong. After questioning her about a grade, and proving my answer correct, she marked everyone else's as wrong even though she taught the material incorrectly.
