Very intelligent and congenial. Class is actually challenging even if you show up to every lecture. Tests require studying of all major topics and reading.
I went into the final with an 80, made a B on the final and ended up with an A in the class! I'll take it! She is fun to listen to, definately knows what she's talking about. As long as you write down what she tells you to study, you will do good on the test. Easy class - four tests, a few assignments, and a few quizzes. I'd take her again
I loved this professor! She was clear in expectations and in notes. She made the class interesting. You can make an A in this class, but you must read the book and study!! She gives studyguides, but suggests you do notecards from the beginning...it helped! I would definately recommend her and I wish she taught other psych classes! Best ever!!!
professor scott knows all about psychology and i liked her personal stories. she puts powerpoints of notes online and goes over them in class. some lessons she has groups present. the tests are challenging so STUDY. the big paper/project we had was nit-picky but is a good way to boost your grade. get on her good side and youll be fine.
One of the best professors I've had. Incredible knowledgeable about everything. She answers all questions in great detail. Make sure you go to class and pay attention and you'll be fine. I HIGHLY recommend her!!
Take this class! Class is as interesting as Scott. She's very helpful practically spells everything out for you. Read the articles and go to class and you won't even have to study - I barely did - all common sense "make sense"? She tells you what to know for the test. Group project but better than you would think! Take this class!
Dr. Scott is a wonderful and extremely intelligent professor. She knows the material very well, and she is just an amazing insight into the world of psychology. She is very helpful to students who want to do well in her class, and you can tell she cares about each person. Follow directions and study will give you an excellent grade.
Dr Scott is one of the best professors I have ever had! She is extremely smart and knows what she's talking about. You have to go to class and if you are late she will stop talking and stare at you until you sit down. But if you never miss class and are never late you get 10 points at the end of the semester. Tests are easy if you study.
Fun teacher, one of the best ive had at KSU
Hard tests. STUDY and Print ALL power point slides. HAtes it when ppl are late and embarasses them so its better to just not show up if youre going to be late. Intimidating woman but great teacher knows a lot about psychology and is a current psychologist

Dr.Scott is an awesome professor! She is well educated in her filled and she might be hard, but she is funny and engaging! She's my favorite teacher...just make sure you aren't late and listen and study b/c the test are hard, but what you learn you see in other classes and I find myself using some of the material we've studied to analyze situations.
Gives a great lecture and she can be VERY rude. Pay attention to her instructions--or she will humiliate you for asking. Tests are tough--so read the Issues and study the PowerPoints. One class PowerPoint presentation and one paper. She will eat you alive for plagiarism--be careful how you write paper. Class not hard if you study.
Dr. Scott is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I didn't even read the issues and I made an A on the midterm and a B on the final. Pay attention, study the powerpoints, attend class, and you'll be fine. It's a 2 hour credit so it ends one month before your other classes, which is nice. Dr. Scott is very helpful, she really knows her stuff!
Terrible, I am so glad I am finished with this class. Her methods and the way she speaks to her students is completely unacceptable to me. Save yourself alot of stress and take someone else if you can.
She is very interesting and entertaining. You can tell she loves teaching and is very very knowledgable. She is an extremely fair teacher and is quite funny! Tells you exactly what to expect on the tests and in class. Attendence is required and DON'T be late! I DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Scott!!
Dr. Scott is an extremely intelligent professor and her class is very interesting. Though attendance was mandatory, i did look forward to going to her class everyday.
LOVE HER!!! Super nice and sweet. Soooo easy to earn an A, just study the powerpoints and Turn in homework (which is super easy)
if you are into psych take her! she knows sooo much! but you must come to class and don't be late. i have never used the book. just make note cards from the powerpoint and study a little everyday and you should be fine!
She is rude and doesn't answer any questions but she knows what she is talking about. She makes up all her statistics. Powerpoints never match the book and barely the test. TAKE NOTES! Make note cards! Her test questions are very confusing. Don't miss a class cause you miss so much info!
Dr. Scott really knows her field, and it's obvious she has a passion for it. Her tests can be very hard, you MUST study. Make sure to use all her studying suggestions, they really help. This class is not an easy A, but an A is possible, and you'll get lots of great insider info from a practicing, very active psychologist. Highly recommended.
This was an incredible class ... certainly worth taking, and the professor makes every day interesting.
She keeps the class fun and organized, but I don't respect her as a person. She is extremely rude and she thinks she is hot stuff. I would suggest taking another teacher to be honest.
She is pretty easy but you have to be use to a teacher who knows what she wants. You only need to read the book if you want to participate in class discussions (which I recommend) The tests are all based on the powerpoint notes....make good notecards and you will pass the class with an A.
Dr. Scott is an amazing teacher! She really knows the material and has lots of fun stories to tell.
Random five question quizes over chapters of material. Very difficult, yet interesting. print out powerpoints and fill in during class. Not easy..
I have mixed feelings about this professor. She's very knowledgeable and interesting. But, my row used to call her the white which from Narnia, because she really is kind of crazy. Don't ever talk in class, text, or be late because she will give you the death stare. Overall, if you study EVERY day, you should be fine. Tests are straightforward.
Dr. Scott is a brilliant professor. She is very friendly IF you are on time, do not talk during her lectures, and you respond like you are interested. Attendance is MANDATORY. There are pop quizzes for every section, but if you review your material you will be fine. Her tests are not difficult if you know the material very well. Great teacher!
Honestly, at first I didn't really like the class or her, but Dr. Scott really is a great professor. She knows the material VERY well and is so helpful. Tests are easy but you have to study a lot. All based on the power points, so pay attention in class and fill in your power point with good notes. Highly recommend her.
she was very strict. her quizzes age hard and the tests are harder. you must be good with names or you'll fail the tests. print out power points and fill in during class. very nice lady though. she's always got a story and really knows the subject matter. the class was interesting but quite hard
VERY HARD CLASS! Good material, and I did learn alot. Only class this semester where we had a seating chart and took attendance. You must study every day, every single day to do well. Also, read directions on assignments or its a zero.
Dr. Scott really knows her stuff and is an interesting and sweet lady (just don't come to class late or plagiarize... God forbid, she'll eat you) Attendance=mandatory and she passes around a sheet to sign. If you make use of her ppts, you're in like flint. She doesn't use the book that often, and recommends you use notecards. She was a great prof!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND RUN!!!! RUN NOW!!!!! FLEE QUICKLY!!!! NEVER LOOK BACK!!!! She is one of the people that is smart in her field but does not know how to teach. She is to hard on a first year class! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE!
She knows her stuff, but she is one of those teachers that makes you hate coming to school. School should be a great learning experience, if you want that(do not take her). She is super strict, and she hates it when your late for class. She even has you to sign a late list if your tardy!! If you really want to challenge yourself take her!!
You can not study too much for this class. The tests are very hard and encompass a great deal of information. Don't be late, skip class ir doze off. Dr. Scott is whip smart and interesting. Be sure to meet with her to review your tests. She is very well prepared and has awesome pwr pts.
Proff. Scott is one of those instructors that makes you hate attending school. School is supposed to be a special learning experience, so if your looking for this(do not take her). She has the strictest attendence policy and if your tardy she makes sure that you know it and everyone else as well. Take her if your up for unnecessary stress!!
Be prepared to work if you take her. She knows what she wants, and she doesn't accept any less than your best. She knows her stuff, and will give you some great insight. She's intimidating at first, but show confidence and she'll like you. Attendance is mandatory, tests are hard, and no need for the book.
Dr. Scott is knowledgeable and is clearly comfortable with her field and the subject matter. She can also be an engaging and entertaining lecturer. However, she is condescending and brusque, to the point of being offensive. I wouldn't recommend taking her 100-level classes as a raw freshman.
SHe is awful. Very hard. Attendance is a must. Very unforgiving regardless the circumstance. Don't take her unless willing to work
If you get the chance, take this class. Dr Scott's class is challenging but I have learned so much from her. She has strict standards, but knows her stuff & rewards her students for coming to class. 2 tests, a paper & a group project. Just dont expect an easy "A"
Awesome class! In the beginning it was really difficult, and she came off as almost aloof, but I think that is so that the people who really are interested in the material stay, and all the others leave. The paper and project were stressful, but after they were turned in, I realized it was well worth the stress. Great, and highly educated teacher!
SUPER HARD. Read your book, read the powerpoints, make note cards, do ANYTHING you can to help studying. YOU MUST WORK for this class. She's an awesome professor, and is very approachable but she will make you hate yourself for signing up for her class.
All the people complaining here are just lazy. yes, she is very intimidating, and expects a lot; however, her knowledge is endless. She is very clear about what she expects from you, and is very fair. She is challenging, but if you work hard, it is possible to do well in her class. You actually leave her class having learned something! AMAZING!
very hard class. she is a good teacher but no matter for what reason your not there she doesnt care. if you miss quizes or hw you cannot make up. rambles on an on in class about her personal life and often lets students do the same. very annoying. treats you like elementary school seating chart and all. avoid by all costs run for the hills
This professor is my absolute favorite EVER!!! She is extremely smart and loves to teach. She is extremely helpful and loves to answer any questions you have. I hardly used my textbook becuase she posted pwpts prior to class. So my advice is save money and don't buy the book unless you need extra help. 3 tests, 3 quizzes and 4 SONA credits are req.
I did not like this teacher at all. Yes, she is very smart and knows her stuff, but she taught the class like it was a graduate class not 1101! In a class of 300 students if someone came in late, she would stop talking and stare at them until they found a seat! She is not flexible at all on tests, quizzes etc. She was quite rude and demeaning to us
She was an excellent teacher! she has professional experience to back up her lectures which are very interesting. Attendence is mandatory and exams are hard, make sure to review pwr points often and not just before an exam!
If you want to learn somethings that you will carry with you all through life...take Dr. Scott. Make sure you get to class on time and ready tock and roll. Attendance is mandatory, but she makes th class intersting and then some!
Yeah, it's hard- but is anything easy ever worth doing? She tells you up front EVERYTHING on her syllabus- read it and you will know everything about her policies, and you will definitely learn a lot of things. You leave with not only a better understanding of the subject, but maybe even yourself too.
Very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about her subject. However, the way she treats students is unacceptable. She is extremely rude and berates students in front of the entire class for the slightest infraction. Its simply not worth putting up with her for what you get out of the class.
Dr. Scott knows about psychology and is really helpful when answering questions. Class is mandatory and she covers a lot of material. Tests are challenging. Power points on vista so you can bring them to class and fill in the blanks. Not a bad teacher you just have to come to class and study!
She is very knowledgable, but tends to get off topic a lot. All of her information comes from the powerpoints, which she posts in advance. She has fill in the blanks for the powerpoints. She takes attendance EVERYDAY, and you have to sign the tardy sheet if you come in late. Overall, she is pretty easy.
Dr. Scott knows A LOT about psychology. Attendance is MANDATORY!! PowerPoints posted a few days before class. She tells you everything that is on the midterm and final exam. Only one 2 page essay, pretty simple.
Assigned seats, attendance is mandatory. She posts powerpoints to print out and fill in blanks. I havent used my book once, just make notecards and study for the tests. Also she gives one quiz before each test. Theyre on whatever youve learned so far and then one question about something you will learn that day so look at your powerpoints before
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She is highly rude, and her grading methods are horrible. Attendance is mandatory. If you do not memorize her powerpoints, then you will do poorly on her exams.
VERY smart teacher. Attendance will get you in TROUBLE if you don't show up...or come in late. Beware: use a quote on your paper with correct citations and it will be considered plagiarism. I AM NOT JOKING. PARAPHRASE all your research. VERY HARD exams, intricate/anal grading. Smart teacher, VERY HARD tests.
SHE IS HORRIBLE. her test are ridiculous, no matter how long you study or how much your going to do horrible. On her test, she 2 answers that could be the right one "you just have to really think and choose the best one" YEAH RIGHT LADY THEY CAN BOTH BE THE RIGHT ANSWER. BOOOOOOO
I had taken AP Psych in high school for fun, but needed this class for credit. I usually struggle with mand. attendance classes. Managed all A's on her tests. If you memorize the power points (95% of test) and show up for class, easy A! Her class is boring sometimes, as she tends to go off on tangents. Def. recommend creating a small study group!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU LOVE PSYCH AND WANT TO WRITE A NOVEL ABOUT IT.
she keeps class interesting and knows her stuff very well. tests are hard, she is very rude as a person and when emailed a question, she returned the rudest and most unprofessional response I've ever received. take this class only if you will study like crazy and don't care if your professor is a snob
She goes off on tangents very frequently, but she is very passionate about what she teaches. Easy B, somewhat easy A. I wouldn't recommend her to others.
She is tough but a GOOD teacher I didn't do so well in her class b/c of quizes. All her tests come from powerpoints
Very nice professor. Passionate. Tests are not difficult. Alot of powerpoints. Did not need the book all semester. I would recommend her.
Very intelligent professor. Make sure you study ALL the powerpoints and read your text. AND...DO NOT USE QUOTES IN YOUR PAPER B/C IT WILL BE CONSIDERED PLAGURISM. May the force be with you.
Not a hard class but you definitely have to work for your grade. Takes attendance every class even with 250+ ppl. Never canceled class. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Does not put up with BS or excuses. If you are lazy you WILL fail. She gives you a list of things to study for each test (only prob is that the amount of work to study is alot)
I've never dropped a teacher in my 3 semesters of college. This lady is extremely rude and insensitive. She wastes paper and ink (student's expense) and DOES NOT work with the students. Everything is her way or no way. She's very educated, but her attitude and the way she talks to students isn't worth it. Take another professor!
She is an extremely educated lady. But she doesn't care about students. It her way or the highway. She is way to strict about tests, attendance, and everything in the class. She takes it WAY to serious for an intro class with 250+ students. This is the first class Ive ever dropped. Do not take her unless your super interested in psych.
She's tough. Very knowledgeable, and has a lot of interesting facts. Be prepared to spend ample time studying multiple resources for tests or you will fail. There's a ton of work involved, I wouldn't take her again, but you'll learn a great deal.
She is crystal clear with what she expects. She is diffcult, but if you can follow directions you'll be fine. Her tests are all about her powerpoints and she tells you what's on the test the week before. She's extremely intellegent and not at all boring.
Professor Scott is knowledgeable but the way she treats students is detestable. I think her mindset is that she assumes you're a bad student unless you prove otherwise. Rude, anal, and zero tolerance for the slightest misconduct or mistake. I always wonder why teachers like this are in the profession when they act like they can't stand students.
she was probably the hardest teacher I've had so far. Her test are rediculous. She doesnt tolerate late work, even if you walk into class 2 minutes late. She gives questions on test and expects you to choose the "best answer" when all of them can be the correct one. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! you will seriously regret it.
She seems obnoxiously strict at first, but tones it down later. Certainly not lenient with grading. Didn't give thorough explanations on what we got tested on - you'll have to read the book for that. Chose lots of very specific, strange test questions. Cites random stats which can provoke interesting discussion, but overall got me nowhere.
Class revolves around her power points in which she takes great pride. They are interesting, but sometimes her wording and composition is confusing. The tests are directly from the slides. She is very knowledgeable and keeps you motivated and interested. Mandatory attendance. Hot for an old lady.
VERY hard, even though I love the topic. Make sure you quadruple edit your papers with the TA/psych lab. She will turn you in for plagiarism, even unintentional. Tests are anal about statistics and research. Will not give grades on presentations/homework until final grades. Do not take if you want a 4.0!
Ok this class isn't what it should be as it is listed.Professor is stuck on researchers and stats. Doesn't use the book at all.She will tell you she is there for you, but in reality she sends you to her TA for everything and the TA is of no help at all.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She makes the grade distribution for the class in such a way that if you do poorly on even one test, you will not make an A in the class. No extra credit, grade deductions for absences, and completely unapproachable for help and advice. Wish I had withdrawn when I had the chance.
Absolute WORST prof I've had in the 4 years I went to KSU. She's rude, demeaning, unapproachable, and has no interest in the success of her students. Exams are RIDICULOUS & if you need help, you won't get it from her. She will direct you to her TA that is almost just as cold & unhelpful as she is. DO NOT take this class if you care about your GPA.
Absolutely the worst class I have EVER taken at KSU during the past four years! Professor is RUDE & thinks she knows everything! She will basically hand you a useless letter grade and send you off to the TA!! Fails you on all tests & papers even after getting them revised @ the psyc lab. DO NOT TAKE! WASTE OF MONEY & TIME & GPA WILL DROP!!!
POOR QUALITY.. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW STATISTICS THAT MEAN NOTHING WASTE PAPER AND BUT A BOOK THAT YOU WILL NEVER USE. THEN TAKE THIS CLASS. THE TEST ARE THE HARDEST I HAVE EVER SEEN "EVERY ANSWER IS THE ANSWER" I THINK THE ONLY PERSON THAT PASS HER TEST ARE THE TA AND NOT TO MENTION SHE IS JUST AS RUDE AND APPROACHABLE AS DR. SCOTT.
THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. In all seriousness, every other thing that comes out of this lady's mouth is either a useless stat, fact, or the word "UHM". Can't stand this class, It's really difficult, and impossible to get a decent A. Horrible, just horrible.
These people do not know what they are talking about. The ONLY bad thing about professor Scott is that she keeps you until the very last second of class. No texbook use, ALL of lectures on powerpoints and the tests come DIRECTLY from her power points. one of the easiest classes I have EVER taken at KSU. Just study power points. I loved Prof. Scott!
Took her course a few years ago @GSU. And, homg.. she was terrible. The material was easy, but she made getting poked in the eye with a stick more enjoyable than her class. Was also very preachy about her personal views, which I found rather offensive. *And* she gave outdated (i.e., incorrect) advice on pregnancy to the pregnant girl in our class!
Hated this professor. Makes the class unnecessarily harder than it should be. oh and a seating chart in a class of 250. Felt like high school all over again, would not recommend at all. I'm an A/B student and studied for every test and failed but got a C in the class.
I do not know what these people are talking about. This teacher is phenomenal! I LOVE her. She brings an entire new meaning to being a teacher. As long as you don't do things you shouldn't she is overly helpful.she teacher 600 students and if you e-mail her she does org to sleep until all e-mails are answer! Take her you won't regret it!
She is crystal clear with what she expects. People that say she doesn't care about students are ignorant. Go to class and study her powerpoints..because that's the test. Be responsible and you will do fine. Plus she is an interesting person with interesting lectures.
Dr. Scott is a very intresting professor! You will learn A LOT but don't take this class if you plan on messing around; she will fail you. She's very strict and does not take excuses. In terms of grading, study hard (read the book and have the powerpoints engraved in your memory) and you will do well.
Dr. Scott is alright, I guess - if you like having powerpoints with the volume turned up to eleven being blasted into your ears. Her army of SIX(!) teachers assistants, however, range from the boring and unhelpful to the hostile and insulting. Door is locked 5 minutes before class starts - you're graded on attendance. And a Seating Chart? Really?
sooooo hard! i am a good student i have all A's and B's and i had to withdraw from the class. the class started off a class of roughly 200 and when i left was down to around 100. test are impossible and i studied for weeks in advance and went to a weekly study session. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Psychology is a difficult subject so to blame the bad grades on Dr. Scott is wrong. Everyone says she is mean but she understands her class is hard and wants everyone to have a clear understanding of the subject. She tells you how you should study for her tests. Attend the study group provided by her TAs. Pay attention and you will do fine!
When approached with a question, she will tell you to look at the syllabus even though it's not there. Interesting class but for an intro class it's too much. Her army of TA's are rude and insulting. Hard C. Almost impossible A. STAY AWAY IF YOU LIKE GETTING GOOD GRADES!!!
Honestly she is the worse teacher I have ever taken in my life! Theres no phones, no talking, no computers, if youre late youre counted absent for the day, there is a seating chart for a class of 250 students. Are we in middle school again? She knows a lot and likes to flaunt about it during class. Getting a C on a test was an accomplishment!
strict when it comes to tardiness, but other than that she is one of the most interesting teachers. she has fill-in-the-blank powerpoints (make sure to print them out)and gives you the answers. she gives ALOT of examples and LOVES questions. she may seem a little intimidating in class but outside of class she is the sweetest lady, and very funny :)
Dr. Scott is the best professor ever. She wants you to succeed and does everything in her power to make that happen. She provides study groups and gives you study guides before the test and ONLY tests you on the things she teaches you. And the best part is you DONT need the book. Save your money!!
Dr. Scott is easily one of the best professors I've had this semester. You can tell right away that she really cares about her students. The textbook isn't used. There are short quizzes right before each exam in order to give you an idea of how the test will be like. Each lecture is very intriguing and she teaches it with clarity.
Dr. Scott genuinely cares about her students and has a reason for everything she does. She is strict, but very sweet as well. If you want an easy A, don't take this class. If you want to know the lectures like the back of your hand..then do. She loves answering questions, and there are even TA study sessions which help A LOT.
Prof Scott is amazing! She is very knowledgeable, and it is clear that she really wants her students to grasp what she is teaching. Make sure to come to class, and come on time. Study, and take advantage of study group with TA. The class is very challenging, but very rewarding!
This class was challenging. Come on time every day and study daily. Exams make up over 80% of your grade. On homework assignments, you must be thorough. READ the directions or you'll get a 0. Essentially, I learned so much about myself and others.
she dictates the class really well. Has a few assistants that help her out and set up study sessions apart from class. No textbook needed. Attend class, study your lecture notes and make index cards to help you study for exams. If you put your time into this class you will do well. By far one of the most interactive and passionate professors ive had
I'm not very athletic, but put me near this professor I will give the F-22 Raptor a run for it's money.
She's very nice inperson almost useless in class. She reads from her powerpoints which is what the tests cover. If you have questions or concerns ask the TA's because she just pawns you off on them anyway. Tests are hard unless you attend study group after class. She isn't good at elaborating on concepts so she just expects you to figure it out.
She and her TA's are very very strict. When you sign up for this class you will loose all freedom-absolutely no phone or computer use. Don't buy the text book you don't need it. Tests are consistant with PowerPoints. Not a lot of homework. 4 pop quizzes. Must come to class. She's not very nice, but she definitely knows what she's talking about.
Welcome back to High School if you plan on taking Dr. Scott's class. Her powerpoints are more helpful than she is. Also be ready to devote your life to PSYC because it's going to be the only way to an A or B. Awful class, made Psycology a terrible subject for me.
Dr. Scott is brilliant but seems to think everyone shares her IQ level. Her tests are meant to confuse you and leave you second guessing yourself. I feel like I learned so much from this class however I will be lucky with a D. SO much information for intro psych. Joined study group, only missed one class, never late, studied & studied...FAIL!!!
JOIN THE STUDY GROUP AND STUDY! The class seemed to be hard for a few people. I received an high grade in the class. If you read the power-points continuously and practice you will be fine. Average study time for each test : 8 hours. She is very strict on time and due dates , which should be acceptable for a college student anyway.
Jesus. This was one of the hardest classes I've ever had. She's a great teacher but there's just SO much material to cover. And, STUDY the chapters alottttt because there's stupid pop quizzes that I made zeroes on.
Dr. Scott was one of the best professors I have ever had! She is an extremely interesting person and has had a lot of experience in her field. You definitely have to study for her tests but the content comes from her lectures. If you pay attention in class and study you should be able to make an A!
Interesting teacher, hard content. You will have to study quite a bit and you will not pass if you decide to cram-study the night before a test. The extra activities you do on the side for a grade are not hard. In all, this class will be difficult if you don't work for your grade, which is going to be the norm for college classes.
I adore Dr. Scott! She was a wonderful teacher and has plenty of experience and stories to help you understand the content. Yes she is a rule follower and yes there is a lot of material to learn, but don't let that stop you from taking her class. Get flash cards and study study study and you will be fine.
Hard test
Tough, but totally worth it.She was a phenomenal professor.
Dr.Scott is a great professor. The content is difficult but as long as you put in the study hours you will pass. She is extremely interesting and knowledgable. She is very approachable and wants her students to succeed. Tough overall but in a good way.
Professor Scott is very intelligent. She has many cool stories that she tells. Her class is hard, but if you put in the study hours and join the study session then you will do fine! Just pay attention, and you don't need the textbook at all.
DO NOT buy the textbook. Tests and quizzes are straight out of the PowerPoints. If you know the what's in the PowerPoints, you will make A's. Dr. Scott is a good professor, very smart, but is also very strict on policies.
This is a REAL college class. Brilliant, talented lady who knows exactly what she's doing. Don't buy the book you won't need it. Attendance is required. Love her!
Brilliant, brilliant professor. So interesting and entertaining. Don't get the text book and really don't have any homework but be prepared to study like hours for that test. Flash cards will help. KNOW the powerpoint material and you'll make an A.
Class act. TAKE THIS CLASS. I'm a dual enrollment student, studied hard, learned a lot about myself and others, and made an A. I wish I had her again. Favorite teacher by far.
Straight up, I will say this is a hard class, BUT if study her powerpoints like crazy and do the homework assignments, you should be fine. I went to the study group sessions and made flash cards and got an A. Her lectures are entertaining and interesting and her tests are very fair. Great person out of class too.
She is a very brilliant woman, however she thinks everyone is as brilliant as she is right off the bat so many times she expects you to know exactly what she is saying or what she means. This is a very hard class but it will definitely teach you to study. Make notecards- a lot of them- and you should be okay. STUDY STUDY STUDY.
Extremely difficult class. I had a 3.5 and made a C. The tests are ridiculous, be prepared to memorize long lists of names, parts of the brain, medications, ect. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Kind and sweet professor, but hard class. Dr. Scott expects a lot of her students in this class, and will drive you to be a better studier. It defiantly helps if she knows your name! In all there are four test, the last one is comprehensive, four quizzes, and three to four homework assignments. Beneficial class, but hard!
This class was a joke. As an engineering transfer that transferred out of KSU and took her class, it's truly a joke. She acts like the material is difficult and treats the entire class like we're in middle school. She forces you to print out over 500 pages of power points and doesn't let you use a laptop for notes. Awful teacher, but good researcher
This class was absolutely ridiculous. First off, you do not need the textbook. Secondly, do not even bother asking her for help. All she will do is pass you off to her TA's. Thirdly, I hope you've bought stock in paper, because you'll be printing out 30-40 pages every week or so. Fourth, I had a 3.5 and barely scrapped by with a B. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She's kind of intimidating the first few days but she's a really really awesome teacher if you're interested in psychology and want to learn in detail! And she's really experienced in the field.
Class was EXTREMELY hard. You have pop quizzes before each test. Never used the book. Tons of powerpoints. Went to the study sessions which helped a little. The way she words the tests are awful. Class was extremely boring. She told some interesting stories but that's it. Ended up dropping this class and boy what a stress reliever. Don't recommend
STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! don't buy the book, print ALL powerpoints. Study group wasn't really helpful, but go anyways. make notecards & you'll do fine. Great professor with great experience.
Dr. Scott is an amazing professor! She gives good advice on how to do well in her class and is very clear on what she wants. Just know the powerpoints completely you'll do fine. Reading the book is helpful. Take her.
I liked this class and her. She is very intelligent and has so much experience in the field. She only gives out so many As, Bs, Cs, etc. There are 4 tests. I got high Bs on 2 and failed the other 2. My friend fails all of them and we BOTH end up with a D. I was so disappointed with my final grade, because I busted my tail studying for this class.
Liked this class & her okay. Tests are detailed-study hard! Interesting to hear her perspective as clinical worker. Occasional pop quizzes (out of 5 points...). Says you have to print PowerPoints, but that's too much paper. Just write the notes; you'll learn better anyway. They (she&TAs) take attendance for grade. Pretty much no work except tests.
Stay away!!! This professor is against collaboration amongst students. Only allowed to participate in HER study group. If you miss it once, your out. Impossible to talk to her. She will refer you to her TA's. Also, if you arrive right at class time ex: (2:00) you are late and will not be able to take quizzes. She does not allow technology either.
Worst class I have taken, I went in knowing it wasnT going to be easy, she almost tries to make it as difficult as possible.rarely answers questions when she does its usually sarcastic. She gets off subject which adds confusion, threatens to drop a minimum of a letter grade if you are late once. DONT Take if you have a job any other responsibilities
Awesome class. Very interesting. Show up to class to fill in your power points and study them a lot. The textbook is useless, since the tests are straight from the power point slides and lecture. There are a few homework assignments, but they are easy. Do your SONA too. Easy A if you study and come to class. Her stories make the class better!
She is an amazing professor. If you get a chance to take her class don't hesitate, you will learn a lot in just a short period of time. You have to work hard though. A great professor
She's not an easy teacher. You never use the book until the end of the semester I guess when she gets tired of "teaching". She doesn't really teach, she tells irrelevant stories. So basically, you're learning on your own. Might as well take an online class
From reading past comments I thought I was not going to do well in her class, but I made an A! The textbook is not very helpful, just listen in class. HELPFUL HINT: BUY LOTS OF PAPER AND INK!!! Print out the slides before class (make sure they're not too tiny so you can read them). Make flashcards and use quizlet! If you study you'll make an A! (:
Dr. Scott was not as bad as this site says. I was nervous about taking her, but I ended up with an A. Do SONA immediately, print powerpoints and fill them in as you go through class. Make notecards! I work full time and I was able to do all of this just fine, just wasn't able to meet with the TA's. They were rude anyways. :P
It was a fairly difficult course for me. I didn't study at all in high school, and it's necessary for the class. She's brilliant and has great stories, but her teaching style didn't suit me. She uses powerpoints (print them off before class). Don't worry with the textbook, as you don't actually need it, contrary to the syllabus.
She is incredibly inefficient, rude and wastes your time. Grades consisted of 3 tests and a presentation/paper which were both worth a trivial amount of points. Please avoid this professor if at all possible.
Dr. Scott is a very helpful teacher. She provides enough resources for you to get an A. This is a hard class but just study the PowerPoints thoroughly and you can make an A. the book is not needed because she teaches from the PowerPoints and the tests are from straight from the PowerPoints.
LOVE Dr. Scott! She makes the class very interesting. There are printable powerpoints that you fill in during class and she provides you with learning objectives to study for the test. This is not an easy A, but if you study and put forth an effort it is definitely possible! My favorite class at KSU so far.
This class is ridiculously hard. Dr. Scott is a good person, but not teacher. Very intimidating and does not answer your questions. Grade is basically made up of 4 tests. Can't be late, can't leave early, attendance is a MUST, and no outside help besides HER study group. Not easy class whatsoever.
Class was hard, no real homework and only tests. A lot more is on you the student to memorize rather than learn.
Dr. Scott is a very interesting teacher with a lot of interesting stories that relate to the class. I loved taking her! The tests come straight from her PPTs(which you print) and she gives study guides. I was on the verge of an A and she bumped me because I attended all classes and was never late. She does have a strict attendance policy.
Dr. Scott is a wonderful professor. Although she may not explain content very well, she is obviously passionate about what she's teaching. She's funny and NOT as intimidating as everyone is saying. Honestly, the class is not that difficult.
A lot of people talk bad about Dr. Scott, and at first her class is very intimidating, but trust me you can do it. Her syllabus is scary but if you use her power points, you'll be fine. The TAs are really helpful and she basically tells you what to study for the tests. One homework assignment and pop quiz per module.
Dr. Scott is overall an amazing person. She's extremely approachable and kind. She makes class interesting and definitely has a passion for psychology. Take advantage of her SI sessions, they help A TON! Her tests are a little difficult, so know your material! Book not necessary.
Dr. Scott is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. She's funny, inspiring, and has loads of interesting stories to tell. If you study, you will get an A. Attendance is mandatory- she takes role, even in the big lecture classes. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Introduce yourself if you can; it's a big plus.
HARD class. dont recommend
Dr. Scott is amazing! She is very approachable, and willing to help. You must show up to class and study the power points for her tests and quizzes. Even bombing a few quizzes I still made an A. If you are wanting to get involved in psychology, she is the teacher to get familiar with. She will go out of her way to help you get connected.
Without a doubt the worst teacher I've ever had. She was funny but didn't take time to interact with her students. She was more focused on her TA's and would stray while teaching to stories from her life that were irrelevant and caused us to run out of time on material needed for the test.
Prof Scott has high expectations for her students, but her and her assistants work hard to make sure we succeed. Her class is challenging but if you have to make notecards and attend study sessions, you will do great! She tells amazing stories and she is very entertaining. I learned so much in her class and would love to take her again!
Routinely held us over and got ticked when people packed up. Make up exam policy is over the top, if you miss due to illness you're pretty much screwed unless you miraculously get better in time for the one make up time slot, which is the next day. Pretty sure it's against university policy but who has time to fight her on it.
Funny, quirky, passionate. Quizzes are only 5 questions (usually over 3 chapters) and are pretty difficult, so review the lessons! T.A.s were great. Must study for tests, but possible to make a high A. I never used flashcards before this class, but they helped A LOT (seriously, use them). Very interesting class. Must be on time.
Dr. Scott is a great professor. She gives many examples and relates everything to everyday life. I learned so much in this class. However, I do not think I would have passed without the TA's. Mine were great and the review sessions helped tremendously. Crazy about attendance, being on time, and the syllabus. If you can, take as a learning community
She is a really awesome woman. She rambles on now and then but if you ask questions in class she will do her best to explain anything. I would take her again. Oh, and ATTENDANCE MATTERS. It's the difference between and A and a B.
Dr. Scott is a phenomenal professor. She knows what she's talking about and her lectures are very interesting. More than willing to work and interact with her students and is a great professor to have a relationship with. If you make notecards and study you will do well. Favorite class and professor I've ever taken.
There are only a couple of tests. They form a study group at the beginning of the semester with some of the teacher assistants and they create worksheets like crossword puzzles etc but only so many are allowed to join the class. I think 45 out of 250 person class. & Nobody else gets the worksheets. Also, she doesn't really teach, she tells stories
Dr Scott is a great professor, HOWEVER, she has a tendency to get distracted and off topic in class, which in a hybrid is rough because you only get an 1 with her a week. Learning objectives are okay but wont help you pass her very difficult tests. Colloquium is way too much work with 7+ people for only 20 points. TESTS ARE EVERYTHING. NO EC OFFER
The absolute worst intro class to take! Do not take her or you will struggle severely especially if you have other tough classes. Powerpoints are way too long to pull out important points. There is no extra credit.
Dr. Scott is so funny ! Her lectures come with plenty of stories (the long versions haha) and it's just a really enjoyable experience. If you ever go up and talk to her person to person, she's so chill and inviting. She is truly an inspiration to be successful in life.
I enjoyed Dr. Scott she's been in the field a very long time so she has a lot of stories to tell, I particularly enjoyed them. She gives a bmod project and a group project and if you do well on those and semi well on test you will more than pass her class. Her TA holds study sessions prior to test date that were extremely helpful. Be on time!!!
Dr. Scott is a really good professor if you like powerpoint lecture based learning. She is very knowledgeable in the course material and is willing to help you if you attend class and put in the work. Her only real grades are the exams so reading and studying is a must. Be prepared to work hard and earn your grade. I was never more proud to get a B
She is a great professor. She has great stories, but tends to get off topic. I would take this class again in a heartbeat. She explains things and does give homework, and if you don't attend class be prepared to fail, and don't be late.
Such a hard class but she is an amazing teacher. You have to go to class if you want to pass. Her tests are hard but she gives reviews which are very helpful. I would take her again for sure. Just be ready to work hard!
I LOVE DR. SCOTT! She is so sweet, HOWEVER, she is a HARD class! You have to spend hours studying weekly to pass her tests (which is most of your grade), but she is so full of knowledge & I love listening to her stories. I would be more than happy to take any of her classes though. She is by far the best professor I've had at KSU. Go to class!
Dr. Scott is definitely a great person and great at what she does. However, her class was very difficult for me. There is so much information to learn, lectures are long, no technology, you can't even leave to go to the bathroom. Also attendance is mandatory.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! The best professor for psych you can get. She makes class interesting and the way she teaches helps you remember things easier. STUDY POWERPOINTS & ATTEND REVIEW SESSIONS BEFORE THE TEST. I promise it helps, they tell you where the answers come from. You cannot pass this class without studying but definitely worth it.
Great professor who cares for her students. Reach out to her or her class helpers and you'll get tips and help for the tests. Go to the study sessions before tests and you'll pass. MAKE INDEX CARDS! Sweetest professor and great stories that relate to the material. Would take again if I were a psych major!
She is an amazing teacher. If you want to take any Pysch class try to get a class with her. She is a hard teacher but if you ask her questions she will answer. Listen to her notes and you do not have to use notecards but she recommends them. Note cards did not help me because her powerpoints are spot on. MAKE SURE YOU SHOW UP ON TIME! She is strict
She is a clear speaker and will try to answer all questions effectively without getting off topic. She does not allow the use of any electronics in her class room. She uses the latest Psychological studies and tips to better improve her students grades and habits. She is and approachable and interesting person. You NEED to pay attention and study.
Ok, she's extremely knowledgable and is passionate. However, she gets off on tangents. She expects you to print out every powerpoint presented and to RETAIN every bit of information on her powerpoints and in the book. The tests are long and EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. My grades in other classes started to slope down because ALL studying was devoted to her
She is amazing! Great for freshman or for anyone wanting to learn psychology. She teaches you skills for life though as well. Gives you great note-taking/note-keeping habits. Her class usually fills up quickly so grab her fast! Her TA's are great too! Make sure you print out PP's she gives online, take notes, and READ THE CHAPTER! You'll be fine!
Terrible person. Doesn't like helping students. You are not allowed to be late, at all. Just take a different professor, the class is interesting but she is just horrible person
Dr. Scott is an inspiration. She is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. Don't listen to all the negative comments below, if you work hard and actually study the material she says to, you should have no trouble getting an A or a B
She is a good professor, but there is no room for error as a student. She is a TOUGH grader, tests are HARD, even after reading her pwrpt and the text. She does not help you if you are not in the study group. After failing 2 tests, that i spent days studying for, i asked for help or suggestions and she said you can retake the class next semester.
GO TO THE STUDY SESSION. They tell you exactly what will be on the exam. Make flash cards and study and you can surely get a A. Few homework assignments here and there and a quiz the Tuesday before the exam. Complete everything, study and you can get that A
She is a tough teacher, but she does give you EVERYTHING you need in order to easily make an A in the class. In order to do so though, you have to actually try and study hard.
I LOVE HER! The book for her class was not necessary. Most test material was based off lectures. GO TO THE STUDY GROUPS, they give you all the info that will be on the tests. Her "Pop Quizzes" were always the Tuesday before the next test date. Make sure to print power points before class to take notes & make notecards to study. NOT AN EASY A CLASS!
Professor Scott is an amazing professor. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows her stuff. However, if you are not a good student that likes to spend weeks studying for tests, I do not recommend this class. The tests are EXTREMELY hard. This by far the hardest class I have ever taken. Attendance is mandatory. If you miss one day you're screwed.
This rate is coming from a student that has good study skills, makes a quizlet or notecards for every chapter, went to the study sessions, had a study group, went over the learning objectives, AND study weeks in advanced for exams. DO NOT. I REPEAT. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. At this point, I'm just aiming for a C but I might not even get that.
This is the last semester 2105 is offered, but Dr. Scott is a great professor. I picked up psychology as a minor after this class. However, the group project was A TON of work for a 2 credit hr course. I took hybrid, so we only met on Wed for 10 weeks. Had NO online work at all. Be sure to cover learned obj for test. Most people failed the test.
Dr. Scott really respects her students and is so knowledgeable about the world of Psychology. However, attendance is mandatory, the topics can get off track sometinmes. She is strict about bein on time and if you are not you have to sign the late form, which is annoying becuase it is likely we will all be late at least once. I would take her agian.
Coming from someone who has good study skills and has never gotten below a B, Beware of Gail Scotts class. She is an extremely tough grader. It is hard to get into contact with her because she has teacher assistance who are there to "help" the students. I am currently failing and signed up to retake with a different professor. DO NOT RECCOMEND
I absolutely loved Dr. Scott. I was hesitant to take this course because of things that I had read on here, and this has by far been my favorite course in my two years at Kennesaw. If you go to class and participate, you are pretty much guaranteed a B. I went to the TA before test review and it was amazing and was the key to getting an A for me.
I enjoyed learning about Health Psychology with Dr. Scott. She has tons of stories to share during lectures to make the class interesting. There is a ton of work that comes with this course and the exams are tough. Everyone failed the first exam, EVERYONE. So, go to the study sessions with the TA in order to pass the exams. Just be ready to work!
I absolutely loved Dr. Scott. Her lectures were so entertaining and her funny stories help you remember the material. I got an A on every single test but bombed all the pop quizzes and still got an A in the class. Her tests are super easy. Please don't use your cell phone in class, go to class, fill in the PP, and MAKE FLASHCARDS.
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. She is so helpful and her lectures are always interesting. She genuinely cares about her students and is there to help you. GO TO THE TEST REVIEWS!!! If you go to the reviews and attend class you will make a good grade.
Best professor I've had so far! She is hard but really cares for students. The test are difficult but if you go to the test review you will pass! Gail makes you work for your grade and that benefited me. Expect a quiz the class day before the test. If you take sufficient notes and go to the review session you will pass.
AVOID!!!! Worst professor I have ever had! When you reach out for help you are ridiculed and advised to "check the syllabus you signed." I asked one of the TA's for help in following her scatter-brained lectures and was not a good student doing what I need to if I had to ask that question. I got an A on her first test too! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!
Great lecturer and tests are fair if you study the powerpoints. I had no problem with an A and I only studied the night before. Highly recommend her class. She's quite entertainingg.
I would definitely take her again. Super teacher with lots of personalityy. If you read the assignments, you will have no problem with an A or B.
Worst Class I have ever taken! DO NOT TAKE PSYCHOLOGY WITH HER!!!!! ABORT MISSION!! I REPEAT ABORT MISSION!!! She gives you LONG powerpoints and you HAVE to print every single one ! Test are hard even if you study ! If you ask for help YOU WILL NOT GET IT ! I have one passed ONE test in this class ! There is a quiz before every test! DO NOT TAKE !
Very passionate about psych, kept class entertaining and engaging. Grades are done quickly. She was too strict about tardiness, very old school about it. Didn't like the assigned seating arrangement. Bottom line is that she's a great professor but very particular. If you take her class at a time you know you'll be late, don't take her.
This class is the reason that I might lose my hope scholarship. I'm not typically a student who struggles academically, but the sheer demand of time and effort this class requires makes learning the excessive amount of material impossible. There were a few people who spent every waking moment trying to pass. If you don't want that to be you- AVOID.
I might loose my Zell Miller scholarship because of her. Attendance mandatory & assigned seating. Pop quizzes and 4 tests including cumulative final. Is very strict, and although I asked her for help, I got very little. I will never take her again.
Yes she knows her psychology but my chem tests are easier than hers! I studied for 3 days straight and made a 78 on first exam, class avg 64 AND SHE DOES NOT CURVE GRADES. Worst part, I actually thought I did well! This class has ruined my GPA and all my hopes of getting into KSU's nursing program. If all other teachers are full, WAIT TO TAKE PSYCH
This was by far the worst class/professor I've ever taken. If you don't make As on the 3 very difficult tests, you'll fail. No curve and no extra credit. Forget about talking to her for advice or help of any kind because she is extremely rude and will not give you the time of day. Interesting subject, awful professor.
Dr. Scott's class is literally so easy. If you know how to study & follow directions you will get an A+. Her TA's give study guide reviews over the exact topics that will be covered on the tests for crying out loud! There's no excuse not to get an A! We did B-mod project, visited health fair & wrote 1 page review, 3 tests, final, easy group project
Her class is so easy. TA's give guided reviews over exactly what is going to be on the tests. I made an A on everything because she's very clear on what she expects of you. Since it's mostly freshman taking this class, she really tries to teach you how to study & the things she assigns are to help the students-not just give extra work to do.
please do not take this class. you can study all you want but will barely pass her tests because they're so specific. then she'll blame you for not studying hard enough. if you love yourself, choose someone else PLEASE.
A little overboard on the attendance stuff, but otherwise she's not as strict as she seems. She's funny and interesting. GO TO THE TEST REVIEWS. In my opinion, they will make a difference of at least a letter grade.
I'm a bit conflicted and I have mixed feelings about this class. I learned a lot, but I definitely had to work for my grade. If you're absent the day an assignment is given, you cannot get credit, so show up every day. Read/reread the textbook. Know her ppt slides better than you know yourself. If you can't do that, I'd think twice about the class.
I strongly recommend taking Dr Scott if you have a passion for Psychology. I have had the pleasure of taking Her for both Intro and Lifespan Developmental. Dr Scott is a difficult professor and you must work to earn your grade. She is willing to go above and beyond if you put in the work required. Very wise and insightful. Would take again.
Dr. Scott is by far my favorite psychology professor at KSU. She is a difficult instructor, but well worth the extra work on your end. Goes above and beyond for her students. 4 Tests, 4 quizzes, 4 homeworks, SONA research. Straight forward assignments. Lecture heavy, but all information on exams will be covered in lectures. Would take again.
She is hilarious and tries to make lectures interesting. If you do not study for the exams you won't do well but she has study sessions which help out to narrow down what to study. I would definitely recommend this class. Just be willing to put in some work to prepare for exams.
Absolutely love Dr. Scott! Definitely recommend her if you're a Psyc major!! She has tons of awesome personal experiences she shares during lectures. The tests can be difficult and you'll have to study hard, but it's worth it. Her UTA's have study sessions before each exam which are really helpful.
I adored her class! She is very lecture heavy and she will make you work for your grade. Read the textbook and know everything on the slides she presents to you and you will do good! It's not hard to get a decent grade, you just have to be willing to put in the time and effort.
I respect her for how she has her class set up
She is an okay teacher but she will not let you take a quiz or test if you get to class a minute late. You also won't get you homework if you are late to class. Attendance is mandatory and you are required to print all her notes. Does not do a good job of going over tests and quizzes. Her lectures are ok. It is possible to an A if you put in work.
Dr. Scott has been both a great lecturer and a fantastic mentor. I can not wrap my brain around the reviews that aren't great. If you show up prepared, participate, and (gasp!) ask for help, you will be fine. I am sad that I have to wait two whole semesters before I can take another class with her.
Her lectures are engaging, but her class system and her exams are poor. She micromanages pretty much everything you're required to do for the class and even has notebook checks to ensure that your notebook is up to her specs. Her exams are confusingly worded and very specific, which is a terrible combo. Also, she has lots of pop quizzes.
Her lectures were captivating, but her test were unnecessarily hard. The reviews are very helpful. She is VERY strict so if you can't show up on time and stay off your phone, don't take her. You can't receive the homework if you're late or miss class. You will work above and beyond for a decent grade. There are also pop presentations which are easy
Amazing teacher. She teaches through stories and it's very interesting. However, you have to put in the effort to get your desired grade.
She talks about her community service more than psychology, forces all students to print her 20-slide PowerPoints (which are fill in the blank notes, sometimes there are 6 PowerPoints for 1 chapter), and makes you keep a notebook with all notes, assignments, etc, which she GRADES. The woman belongs in an elementary school. Her UTA's are unqualified
She makes you print very lengthy powerpoints for notes, which are unhelpful and fill-in-the-blank. Very lecture heavy, but she goes off topic and talks about her own life experiences very often. I had to read the book and teach myself the material to get my grade up. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
Her lectures were long but interesting. However, her personal anectdotes weren't relevant to any quizzes or exams. The work was soooo much tougher than it should have been for an intro class. She had no sympathy for not being in class, not even when I had a doctors note to excuse it thanks to mono. Just don't take her. Just don't.
I love psychology, just not this professor. She makes you print out 20+ pages of PowerPoint slides for every class, tests are very difficult, and she will surprise you with 5 question pop quizzes. I went to the test reviews and no matter how much I studied I could not get above a C. She does not care about your success in this class.
Very strict on attendance. If she sees you on your phone, you will be kicked out of class. Lectures are engaging, but not part of the test. You will have to print 40+ pages per week and the slides are fill in the blank. The study sessions help, but she is a tough grader. All multiple choice. If you're up for the challenge, take her class!
I've had Professor Scott twice & I absolutely love her! She can be a little strict with her technology policy, attendance, assigned seating, but she means well & is a great teacher. She also holds study sessions for exams, which is literally just her going through the test & subject of each question. If you study & show up, you'll be fine
Dr Scott is fabulous! She is very interested in helping her students succeed. In reading the comments it seems the complaints are from students who don't care about their grades. If you attend class, read, and pay attention passing the class is no problem. Don't follow what is clearly outlined in syllabus then you will not do well. Its your choice!
This is by far the hardest professor ive had at Kennesaw. Attendence is mandatory and part of your grade. Theres random homework given and if you arent present when its handed out you get a 0 on it. Laptops and other electronics are forbidden. You have to print all the powerpoints. The lectures are okay, really lengthy. The UTAs are helpful tho.
Extremely tough grading, if you fail one test the best you can hope for afterwards is a C unless you A+ the others. Keeps class interesting and has good lectures, but I would only recommend this course for those majoring in PSYC. Do not take this as an elective, PSYC is not an easy A. Study everyday for at least a hour and you'll probably get a B.
You have all the materials you need for the class on day 1. She is a fair grader and keeps to the syllabus. Go to the study sessions with the UTAs and put effort into studying (make flashcards on learning objectives), and you will make the grade you want. She is a extraordinary professor and is passionate about her field! Highly recommend!! :)
Amazing professor, and actually wants you to be successful. GO TO STUDY SESSIONS. Review powerpoints for 3 exams. Do your part in groupwork. Presentations in class. Easy A work online for hybrid course. Prepares you for future.
I came to every class, except one and it was excused. I feel like Dr. Scott spoke more about her experiences at Grady then she did the class material. The stories were quite interesting, but I would have liked to learn more about the course material instead. I completed ALL assignments, exams, plus extra credit and I still failed the course.
Despite what a lot of these comments say, Dr. Scott is very caring towards her students success and most certainly wants her students to succeed. Go to class, be attentive, be prepared and stay off your phone. If you can follow these basic rules, you will excel in her class and come to love her. Highly recommend.
Seems very intimidating; gets onto you in front of class if you do something youre not supposed to, serious and a bit strict. BUT! A professional instructor and type you want to build a relationship/is really kind. She just wants you to be successful!! Make sure your notebook is put together, follow the syllabus, pay attention. GO TO CLASS!
I've taken 3 classes with her, this one being the third last semester, and I absolutely love her. I will be UTA for her soon. She is clear on what she expects of her students, and if you don't put that out, you won't do well. She gives you everything and more to be successful. Just do the work and put the effort in and you'll get a good grade.
This is my second class with Dr. Scott and I have really enjoyed her classes. Her lectures are fun and interesting, but never about topics that are on the tests. With a ton of studying and work, I think it would be possible to make an A. If youre willing to work hard and teach yourself the material, take Dr. Scott.
have to study hard for tests, she grades homework easily, cannot miss class, she is funny and intense. learn a lot from her and she's a great connection and resource. helpful study sessions. her class isn't for everyone
Wow. This class was very challenging. Dr. Scott is an amazing professor that really does care about her students, but her tests are ridiculously hard. I would study my butt off & then only make high C's or B's on her tests. I know other students who barely passed 3 out of 4 exams. She's extremely difficult. Go to the study sessions before exam!
This is a hard class period. The tests (4) are over 4 chptrs at a time and difficultly worded. Study sessions arent that helpful. She swears by index cards but ppl, myself included, study intensively and still get low Bs or fail. point grading system makes it hard to compensate for it. no EC. Shes wonderful woman and funny but her class aint it.
This class is just so hard. Dr. Scott is a great person but she makes this class impossible. You can use all of her study tips and go to the study session and get 60's on the exams. The exams are weighted so much that unless you ace them you won't do well. The projects that she gives are enjoyable. The TA's are also good. But overall not worth it.
I love Dr. Scott as a person. I think she is a great and definitely someone you'd want to have in your corner. However, her class is ridiculously hard. I'm generally a good student, but this class was very discouraging as a psych major. She made it very difficult on the tests. EVERYONE in my class struggled to pass. I'd find other class if u could.
4 tests, a group presentation, and 2 papers. Wonderful professor who cares about the subject and her students. Sometimes would get off track during lecture. Read the book and the powerpoints! The tests are application of things, not just memorization, so make sure you understand things past their defintion! Study hard, the tests are difficult.
Dr. Scott is one of my favorite professors. You have to work for your grade but as long as you put effort into the Learning Outcomes and group projects you will get a good grade. She taught this class really well and it has helped me a lot.
This teacher was ridiculous. First week she says no pop quiz but than decides to give us a pop quiz. Completely ridiculous 50 questions test over material that we have to guess is on the test. Thick packets for her to only cover maybe 8 slides and talk about her personal life during class. Great Person, but a bad teacher.
Do whatever you can to avoid Dr. Scott. You are graded by several homeworks and a couple quizzes and your exams. The homeworks amount for 150 points while the quizzes and exams are 400. If you are even late for a minute for an assignment you have to sit outside and receive a 0. She allows for no excuses. You also teach yourself everything. TERRIBLE
She made the class a lot harder than it had to be; for example if you try to turn something in without a staple she won't even take it. If your phone is on your desk she will count you absent for the class even if you weren't touching it. In my opinion you are better off taking literally anyone else.
Dr. Scott was the most strict teacher I've ever had. She was great but if you had to miss class for anything or had a late grade she gave you a 0 no matter what.
Really rude about everything. If you missed class, you practically get a whole letter grade off. Made us do a 30 minute presentation. She does not put in a lot of grades and never stays on topic.
In this class we had 3 tests, 1 quiz, 2 minor group projects, and 1 major colloquium. Her class is easy so long as you go to class for attendance credit, keep up with your notebook, and do your LOs. She gets a little off topic during lectures, but she's an incredibly caring woman and is great to have in your corner. I wish I didn't switch my major!
Dr. Scott comes across as rude and condescending in her messages to the class, a little kindness and motivation go a long way. There are many typos and inconsistencies throughout the PowerPoints, assignments, and even the tests. Assignment instructions do not translate well to the online course. Her online class leaves much to be desired.
Dr. Scott has not been considerate at all given the circumstances of our online situation. If you miss a test, homework, or an assignment, she usually doesn't accept it all and seems condescending in her announcements to the class. The rest of my professors have been somewhat forgiving this semester but she has not.
Horrible! 3 words DONT TAKE HER! No class, she doesn't teach, prepare to teach your self. Very aggressive with email responses, IF she even responds. Her weekend starts on Thursday 5pm and then she throws her phone away If you're dying? Don't bother letting her know she won't care. During the storm she made 0 effort to help. No extra credit!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!!! Dr. Scott is awful!! She is rude/condescending and is not responsive to positive criticism. There are 4 exams (lockdown w/ webcam) and they ARE EXTREMELY difficult. No one in class did well on the exams, even though she gave 100% on all assignments. She told us our "study skills needed improving".
Rude and disrespectful. Unwilling to help. Does not reply.
Her class is pretty straightforward. Grades consists of Chapter LOs each week , 4 exams , 2 video reports , and 1 APA report. Exams could be pretty hard if you dont put effort in to to study. I took her online course , and she was pretty much accessible throughout the whole semester.
It took me a minute to warm up to Dr. Scott because the course is very rigid without much wiggle room or forgiveness, but there are such little assignments it didn't matter. It's super easy to get an A because of the Learning Outcomes assignments and the test reviews. There are a few bigger assignments scattered throughout as well. Awesome class!
she says she is always accessible by email at crazy hours of the night to help if we have questions, but has only ever replied to me in confusing cryptic messages hours later. she makes you do group work in class that literally has nothing to do with any of your assignments so she can chat it up w her poor TAs who literally run the class for her
There's nothing to help study for the tests except an exam review held by the UTAs, but if you can't attend then there is nothing to review. The professor and the UTAs were unhelpful. Would not take her again for any class.
I just cant with this professor. Her PowerPoints were so hard to understand, which made it hard to study and do homework on. She is so nice and respectful to her UTAs, but neglects the rest of the class since were not HER UTAs. This is literally the only class I failed and I have to retake. Dont waste your MENTAL HEALTH and money on her
Didnt really like this professor. She doesnt teach at all all the UTAs do the work. She makes us get into groups half of the semester which I didnt like and you have to present with a group in front of the class she has guest lectures which is nice. The tests are hard however the assignments are easy. Would not take again.
Dr. Scott cares a lot about the success of her students, and encourages us to put our best foot forward. If you are willing to be held accountable academically so you can become a better student of psychology, she is the perfect instructor for you. If you want hand holding and grades to be given that are not earned, you should look elsewhere.
do not take this Professor. In person she seems very nice but if you email her a question about something she will almost always respond passive aggressively. Goes off topic almost every lecture. Has her UTAs do all her work and instructions for assignments are not clear AT ALL. Her tone is so condescending and you will have to teach yourself.
I like her personally, but she was not very good as a professor. Her UTAs have all the responsibilities while she shows the PowerPoint and gives funny anecdotes. I studied hard for every exam and failed all of them. Also, her class is no technology allowed and you have to print out all of the PowerPoints. IT'S NOT A HYBRID COURSE!
the final got moved to the same day i was due to go through a medical procedure that i could not afford to reschedule, and she wouldnt let me take it a different day causing me to miss it and fail the class. also on a separate occasion brought me to the front of the entire class to embarrass me over a very small issue. shes mean and difficult.
very motivational :)
Aside from the excessive printing requirements and the, at times, unclear assignment instructions, Dr. Scott certainly knows what she is talking about. She is incredibly well connected within the psychology department at KSU and in the broader psychology field. If you are a psychology major, she is a mentor/connection you'll want to have.
If you're passionate about psychology this is an amazing class to take! Dr. Scott is professional, inspiring, and smart. If you don't care about school this isn't the class to take, but if you care about your education Dr. Scott is an amazing professor.
Class starts out great, with a good focus on the lectures. Everyone got an A on Exam1. It fell apart after, with too much focus on Colloquia & bringing guests that weren't relevant for our exams. She just stops lecturing eventually and it hurt everyone's grade. It turned into such a mess. I know many who have switched majors because of this class.
Dr. Scott is strict about attendance and course work, just dont be late and procrastinate. The assignments were easy A's but the tests were difficult, the study sessions help and so do the homeworks. She brought guests in to better help us know different career paths. She wants everyone to succeed and cares. Best Careers teacher to take.
While she's really strict, her expectations are clear. She wants you to succeed and understand the material. Powerpoints are straight from the textbook for weekly homework assignments. The UTA's provide a study session prior to tests and tell you exactly what you need to know. The UTA's mainly ran the class. Lots of group projects. GO TO CLASS!!
Though she is very knowledgeable, the way she teaches is eh. Hw wasnt bad but tests were super hard. she is very strict on attendance and being on time. She will not hesitate to embarass you infront of the class or take points off your final grade for absences or being late. she will lock her door to the class after the first day. avoid
Strict and expects a lot but she is a kind and caring lady. Just pay attention and do your homework.
One of those professors that you'll question how she got here. She's made remarks how anxiety would equate to an individual being weak (in a PSYC class). Will also use intimidation/threats regarding your grade that do not align with course nor institution policies. Will take advantage of students whom she thinks knows no better. Hostile environment
She really cares about your future in psych, but she runs her class like the navy, so mean to students, and she doesn't even lecture much, assignments are huge and time consuming, though not unfairly hard, my main problem was her attitude, rude to students, sees us as no life other than school, says student shouldn't work and anxiety is an excuse
Not understanding at all, strict, and a overall hard class. Don't take.
not a fan. shes a really nice lady just not a great teacher
Gail Scott's class is challenging but rewarding. She has high expectations, but the UTA study sessions and use of resources like unstuckstudy ai can help you succeed. Be prepared to work hard and attend class.
Mostly just memorizing definitions and facts. Professor Scott is a great person overall, but her grading is very subjective. Show up day 1 with the mandatory notebook on her syllabus, sit up straight, participate, and turn in assignments giving your best effort. She'll write a great letter of recommendation if you step up. Don't miss class.
Dr. Gail Scott relies heavily on UTAs to run her classes and grade assignments, often leading to inconsistent and unfair grading. She struggles with technology and shows little empathy, dismissing anxiety as "all in your head." One thing is evident—if you don't brownnose, expect low grades. The class lacks professionalism and support for students.
If Dr. Scott is being overly kind, beware: she's likely eyeing you as an UTA to do all her grading or pushing you to fund her study abroad trip so she travels for free. She exploits students for her gain. Despite MANY complaints, the PSYC department has done nothing. Advocate for yourself and think twice before enrolling in her class.
