she is an amazing teacher! notes are VERY clear. textbook use in classroom is NOT mandatory though the outlines of each chapter help during midterms/finals. if you attend class and pay attention you will get an A or B. she is a very clear teacher although she seems somewhat grumpy a lot

She was the best math teacher I have ever had and that includes elementary. She makes everything clear. I got an A for the first time in Math. Take her if you get the chance.

Very sweet prof, cares so much about students does whatever she can to make sure that you do well. This was my last chance to get out of this class and she made sure that i passed it. I would recommend her to anyone who's having trouble with math. I'm just glad that Germantown has a great math teacher like her. South you're the best.

I agree with the statements below. She's strict on attendence but it's also rude to just show up late due to lazyiness of getting there on time. She's very clear on what will be on exams (there's two of them.) She has little pop quizes about what you've learned in the class. I learned a lot. I liked this lady a lot

I believe you will either love her or hate her. I personally loved her, very clear, very helpful. Strict on attendance and promptness. Shes even cooler outside of the classroom. Show her your interested in the class and it will make a world of difference.

Very knowledgeable. She knows her stuff, and is always ready to teach. You must show up on time, and turn your papers in on time. Make sure that 4 papers are in on time.

Prof.South is very nice but she doesn't take any BS. She's a good teacher but she only teaches what she needs to teach. She only uses MyMathLab. She's avail to help but you must practice and do the homework to pass!

Prof. South has hard test and easy homeworks. Her tests are very hard and require a lot of studying. However as long as you are not dumb and can write a paper properly her homework is easy. Do not be late to class. and as long as you dont come off as a know it all as some older students would try to in class she is very nice to everyone.

Great instructor; plan to take her for my next math class. Gives alot of homework, but those who do it tend to excel. Answers questions in class and via email. Teaches the info every way possible and truly tries her best to prepare her students for the following math classes they need. One of the best instructors I have ever had!

I have had Prof. South for MA 090/091 and am about to take her 101 class. If you have trouble with math, have had trouble with math, are scared of math, this prof IS FOR YOU! Prof. South is on of the best professors at montgomery college. i would suggest ANYONE and EVERYONE to take her. she is VERY helpful.. compare to all of the other math professors.. she is the easiest! her homeworks are every two weeks.. and dont need the book.. she is always there to help! i love her and i took her for 90.. and am taking her for 91

Gail South taught me that math does not have to be dreadful, and as corny as it may sound, that it can be pretty fun. She is the most caring, competent teacher I have ever encountered. She isn't an easy teacher, but she is always willing to help her students to better understand the material, and she is good at it. She also has a fantastic wit.

She is an excellent professor. She has an immense knowlege of the subject and has no problem answering questions clearly. The rules that she sets for class are strict W/o variation, but not hard to follow and she is very friendly. She expects well thought out answers and some effort. I reccomend taking her class if you really wanna learn something.

A great teacher and is very clear about what she is looking for on test. lets you use a whole sheet for he test and tells you pretty much everything thats going to be on the test. BE ON TIME she does not like people coming in late and make sure you turn your assignments in on time. overall a great proffesor i would definently recommend i got an A.

Smart, a calculator head! never made a mistick, pay attention in class, take your time to do and understand the hw then you got yourself an easy A. nothing suprising on the test! Very intelligent woman!

The best math teacher I have ever had! I have always had problems with math until I took her class. She is very clear and very helpful. I wouldn't say it's the easiest class, but as long as you do your homework and take the practice tests, you will surely pass. You also MUST go to class everyday. One day out can really throw you off.

You have to do all of your homework and pay attention in her class to understand if you're not good at math. It's sometimes hard to follow what she teaches, but she is willing to answer questions until you understand. She takes points off of your grade for attendance, so don't come late or skip class.

Professor South is THE BOMB.COM! I would ask her to repeat something 3 times in 3 different ways until I understood and she did not make me feel like an idiot... As long as you do your homework and come to class on time, you'll have no problem. The only time I've seen her bad side was when people complained but never came to class or did homework.

Make sure you receive at least an 85% on your homework(MathXL). If you do that, you will be eligible to retake tests and most importantly, pass her class! Also, the actual tests resemble the homework. So, make sure you take the practice tests a few times before the day of the test. I wish she was teaching MA110! Good Luck!

Go to class on time, do HW, sit up front,&NEVER give her an attitude! if you do, you are screwed. Wasnt having too good of a day,&didn't smile when i turned in an assignment. bad mojo with her since then. I cannot say enough great things about Professor South. All of the poor reviews listed here are most likely from disinterested and lazy students. If you take notes, pay attention, and do the homework you will do fine. She is incredibly helpful and insightful. If you are respectful, attentive, and engaged you will be successful. She teaches you what u need to know in order to do the homework and do well on the tests. It is up to the students to practice at home because if you do not then there is no way u r gonna pass the course. However, the main problem with this professor is her attitude, there really is no reason to give the students so much attitude all the time.

Failed this course last semester with a different professor, I am passing this semester with a 100% A. She gives extra credit if you go up to the board and solve problems, but she also likes to do group work when she doesn't feel like teaching. She does have a bad attitude sometimes and will make your questions seem stupid so pay attention!!

Honestly, the best math Professor I have ever had. She teaches in such a clear way and gets everyone involved for extra credit. There is like 80 problems worth of MathXL per every two weeks but if you do it all, you will pass the test with ease. You get back what you put in with this class and she lets everyone know that after every test.

In the beginning I liked her a lot but a member of my family got sick and she was NOT understanding of my situation at all. I only missed a few classes and she failed me.

All you need to do is all your MathXL homework. All the tests are generated off of MathXL so you basically know your test grade if you did a practice test. Come to class on time and dont try to skip more than 2 times because people fail lol. She gives out a lot of extra credit, so just go up to the board(she gives u points for just going up there).

Really impressed with my experience with this professor. She has good intentions. All homework is done on MathXL, and all tests are generated from MathXL. She often dedicates class time for students to ask any questions they have for upcoming tests. Use these opportunities to your advantage.
