Extremely hard course but she doesnt' teach over your head.. overall is fantasti
Nice lady, speaks english..which is a plus, but this is a very very difficult course. Her notes are kinda sketchy, and her tests are very hard.
This is the best biology professor i have ever had. She is helpful and interesting. Highly recommended.
Only skims over information, yet expects you to know it in depth. Covers too much information in too short a time. Not patient with students in the lab.
All lectured info is on the tests...no surprises! Take good notes, study them regularly, read the chapters and you'll do well
Awesome teacher!
Very rude and inconsiderate person. She seemed to have her choice of favorites and if you didn't fall into her idea of a "good student" then you could forget it. Made very rude comments to students in class.Taught good if you got past her iggnor
Great teacher! Be prepared to work. She doesnt play favorites. You get the grade you deserve and thats it, even if you make tasty cupcakes. Keeps it interesting and is always willing to help out with questions. Her love of microbiology makes class fun. A+
Great professor! Explains things very thoroughly, helps and answers questions with no problem. Very interesting lectures full of excerpts of random subjects (but still interesting and educational).
Great professor, answers questions easily. lectures are very through. Course is not easy but she makes it fun and easy to understand..
She is ignorant to students about not being a Science majors...goes too fast and doesn't answer questions claerly...
It was a negative experience. If you end up withthis professor...run the other way.
I enjoyed her intolerance for students who refused to do the work. She doesn't baby anyone and expects her students to act as adults.
she was very easy to talk to and approach. would recomend to anyone. made microbiology interesting.
I like this lady, Microbiology is obviously a hard class, this professor was very patient, she was very nice and i would recommend her to any student who isnt lazy. I would def. take her class again in a heart beart. Dr. Stewart our lab group loves you!
The people who say she is a great teacher have NO CLUE what they are talking about. I never got anything lower than a B in any science class ever, and I had to drop her class. She IS NOT HELPFUL WHAT-SO-EVER. I asked her how to study for her tests, and she said she cant help me. If you like teachers like this, take her...if not drop her!!!!!
Awesome teacher!!! If you have to take biology I highley reccommend!!!!
be aware of her attitude she thinks she s smarter than all teachers she doent care about her student , she s not helpfull , you will never find her test answers in the book or her note she will fail you avoid her , avoid her avoid her
horrible she doent follow her syllabus dont get lost by other students . she wants to fail as many student as she more than 50%of her student do not pass her class
Dr. Stewart was a good professor, she is very intelligent. The people who have to drop her class are either lazy or don't know how to handle a college course. Her tests are pretty hard though so go to lecture, read the text and study and you will be fine.
she is very intelligent but thinks you should know it already.if you ask a question she treats you like you are an idiot she is late to class she doesn't stay in lab she stinks if you get her you better just red the book and do well on labs.
She keeps the class fun, but DOES NOT teach anything. Her lectures are bascially the book in her words, and her tests are not her notes that she tells you to study. THE ONLY WAY TO GET A PASSING GRADE OR SOME 'HELP' IS IF YOU PLAY SOCCER/SWIM OR GOING TO BECOME A DOCTOR OF MICRO; THEN SHE'LL MOSTLY DO ALL OF YOUR WORK.She doesn't teach the material
DONT take her class ...she is NOT helpful
Very difficult class. She will give no help at all. Her notes are pointless because everything on the test is from the textbook. Some of the questions are directly from the chapter reviews in the book and from the book website. Read the chapters and you will make it.
Difficult class, I worked really hard for a B when I usually get a's without much difficulty. She could have been more helpful and a little clearer with what was on the exams. She definitely had her favorites and does not baby you or tolerate laziness.
She is a good professor, she is very personable and down to earth..her sarcasm takes a while to get used too but other than that she was awesome! Don't expect to be babied her tests are hard, this class does take effort..if she sees u messing up on a lab shes not afraid to point it out haha overall a fun class and i would def. take her again!
she is crazy... she needs to to study the whole book instead of breaking it up.. the stuff she gives u as notes half is only on test...
Awful teacher! She did not put any effort into helping the students understand the labs, she got frustrated if you asked questions and could not comprehend the material and her tests had nothing to do with what she went over in class.
Some of the toughest test i have ever taken. Though her teaching was good and if you didnt understand if you asked she would help you. Not always the most organized teacher but one of my favorite classes she always kept class interesting. Just be sure to take all the notes and read them as though your life depended on it.
The class is tough, but if you study her notes, you should do fine. I did not use the book very much and still ended up with a B, but the book is more helpful to others. Get on her good side, she is a really cool teacher, study her stuff, and you shouldn't have a problem
Fun class, not a lot of notes. She takes a little while gettin papers back to you though.
This teacher was absolutely horrible!! If I asked if there was a review for the test she commented "every class is a review, so pay attention." If I asked a question she would tell me to look it up in the book! The teacher is supposed to be there to help when I dont understand what i'm reading in the book! She is aweful!!!
When it comes to organization, she has none. This teacher does not believe in lesson plans she usually just picks up wherever she feels like, she doesnt give notes she writes on the board only non-useful things most of the time not even full sentences. Its awesome she understands what shes talking about but the students are completely in the dark.
She skips many important steps and make up different names for some processes. People who take the class should just forget her paying attention and just read the book. When you ask her questions, she will usually either give you a sarcastic response or tell you to take ____ class and find the answer there. Dont take her!!!!
The best professor in the world, LOVE her to death, very easy and somewhat understanding. Always got her DD and a donut!
I had her for Biology and hated her but then again I was young and dumb and never opened the text book. Then I took her later on for Microbiology and fell in love. I actually studied and did all my work and realized how amazing she is. Shes actually pretty funny and does her best to make the labs interesting and the lectures fun.
deff not a good teacher at all! but you can take her and try really hard and get a B. so its not that terrible. her tests are so random so read the book & know everything! she writes "notes" on the board but its really just writing random words as she skims through the book. She hates every chapter and every lab and will yawn and complain everyday
Ms. Stewart's professionalism is in question. She consistently arrives for class late, unprepared, and often lets the class out early because "she doesn't have anymore work" for us to do. Often talks about being tired and discussing her personallife. This makes the class difficult and several students have to pay over $400 a month for tudors.
Her class wasn't hard at all because Biology is not an easy subject. If you study as she takes notes, you will have no problems. I got an A in this class.
Dr. Stewart is not an easy professor, and she holds no sympathy for slackers. However, if you read the chapters, take notes, and go to lab you'll have no problem. She may be a little wacky and show up to class half an hour late, but she is extremely smart, and I honestly enjoyed taking Micro. I learned a lot from her, just don't slack off.
Stewart is very knowledgable in microbiology and you can tell she has a true passion for the subject. As long as you pay attention in class, you're fine.
not a very helpful professor, doesn't hand back assignments for a very long time, and exams are very difficult
she was very helpful. she gave handouts often and a website with note outline. the labs were not to hard. we had quizzes often and a few exams plus a research paper
While she is a tad bit unorthodox, as long as you follow the notes, and study everyday (use flashcards EVERYDAY), you should do fine on the tests. She lets you pick your own subject for the research paper and gives you space to perform labs and helps with any questions. Definitely turned into one of my favorite professors there! Dont slack off!
Has her little favorites so if you're willing to attach your lips to her bottom you're fine. If not, good luck! At least her fashion sense is on point.. If you like bad 70s flower power wardrobes!
Terrible. If you want to do well in microbiology take someone else. There are some awesome teachers for micro at CCC.. But she is not one of them. Just awful. Don't bother.
Very passionate about the subject, but she is very unorthodox. Shes also a really cool person to bs with also. Her tests are hard, but bio is not an easy subject. Be prepared to dedicate a lot of hours to this class outside the classroom.
This was a great class where there was a shared sense of comradery that included Dr. Stewart & everyone in the class. Enjoyed interesting labs & her sense of humor. You must read the book, not just go over the outline or you will miss questions on the tests. (No tricks) Show some interest in bio & she'll show interest in you
Dr. Stewart has a great sense of humor. She makes the subject interesting. You do have to take good note's, and read the sections in the book she points out. If you can do that than you will be fine.
poor communication skills .her test based on her data base not the lecture. You wouldn't get curve if you are not her favorite.
She's can be very rude and hard to communicate with. Don't bother emailing her for anything, she won't care.
Probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. Made everything extra difficult and loves to be worshiped. If you want to worship her by all means, you might get a B. There's a reason she has an Ivy League education and teaches at a COMMUNITY college. No one will hire her anywhere else. Maybe if she was nicer...
Professor Stewart isn't as terrible as everyone makes her out to be. She is clearly passionate about science and is very intelligent. However, she is unorganized, very seldom is on time for class, and can be moody at times. Fair warning, she does not like nursing students. Do all your lab work, pay attention, and READ THE TEXT BOOK (!!!!!!!!!!)
Her tests are impossible and are nothing regarding what you take notes on in class. You could literally never pay attention and just read the book. She is very condescending and arrogant. Do not bother unless you want to be a brown nose.
Personally found her funny (if you find sarcasm funny). She is very knowledgable and passionate about bio. Sometimes has a hard time dumbing things down but she's an average professor. But STUDYING IS A MUST. You won't pass if you don't . Studying a little every day is important. Don't take unless your dedicated..
This professor is the worst. First, she is unorganized and often very late for class. Second, she does not give quiz, test, and reports back for over 2 weeks. She wants students to eat and breath biology but she does not give us our money's worth. I have never had a professor who does not do her part but expects a lot from students.
If it wasn't for my interest in this class, I would have never received an A. This was one of the classes I truly had to work hard for. Her exams are difficult. I suggest outlining the textbook and studying that instead of her lectures. I showed up for class and got a D on an exam. I skipped her class and self-studied & I got A's afterwards.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Clear and funny, she makes class interesting and vigorous. It's a heavy workload but well worth it. She talks in stories and can tell you anything you want to know. I would love to take any of her classes again. You work for your grade and she will give it to you. Willing to help with anything you will need
She always takes her little coffee break in her cubicle office between the classes she is typical community college teacher She will give few hours lecture about how she got her DR title If i was a dean that she wouldn't teach in my campus for sure.
The lectures are very in depth and she speaks well. The great thing about her class is she breaks down what you do not understand in the textbook. She repeats certain key points that will be on the tests. Listen to everything she reviews in lecture. Read the textbook, study the handouts, and know all parts of cell.
Dr. Stewart is a great professor. If you take good lecture notes (copy what she puts on the board) and study the lecture notes before the test, you should be fine. I didn't read the textbook at all and did well. You will be using the lab book though for experiments and such. As long as you study and pay attention, you'll do well.
She is very intelligent and definitely knows what she's talking about. She is willing to help if you seek her out and was always friendly. If you actually try you will be fine. A lot of people who take the class expect an easy A and aren't willing to work hard, so if you put forth effort she will appreciate that. I thought she was great!
Worst bio teacher Ive ever had. Doesnt explain things thoroughly, and expects you to know everything; leaves for breaks for 30+ minutes and comes back 5 min before the class is over and tries to rush through a whole chapter. Doesnt tell you what you should study for the test (always says everything she says is important) but half isnt on exam
She is a bad grader, grades everything super late and long. Can be moody and shows it once in a while. You need to read every chapter in order to pass her tests, notes are not enough. But when she sees you are trying and really studying, she shows you respect. Can throw last two tests and research review last two week of semester, bit overwhelming
I loved Professor Stewart! No, she is not an easy professor. So if you are looking for an easy A and are not willing to put in the work, this is not the professor for you. Lectures are by notes, not slides. The book isn't really needed but the online portion yes. She gives practice work on there and it truly helps. Helps when you seek it.
Difficult class, wasn't very nice or understanding to students.
One of my favorite professors this semester! Pretty big work load and A LOT of content you need to learn but she is willing to help if you ask. She won't coddle you tho and she makes it very clear in the beginning that it is like a part-time job. It's tough, but listen to her lectures, read the book, and ask her for help. She grades fair.
I have mixed thoughts. She is knowledgeable, funny, and willing to help, yet usually late to class and unprepared. For one exam we waited outside while she made them up! She lectures pretty quickly assuming everyone knows the material. You must put a lot of time and effort into this class to succeed.
if you see her name, immediately drop out or you will end up failling . she is so crazy, always late 10 to 30 min to class. The worst Prof I ever had in CCC.
Her teaching skills are very low.
Only the reason she couldn't fail me that i know the material better than her.
Her teaching skills are so premature.
She is very difficult teacher to learn because that is best example for specific type of community college employee.
terrible professor... her lectures got worse as the semester went on. she doesn't seem like she knows what she's talking about half the time and doesn't seem to know what is on her own exams as well. we finished the semester wayyy behind schedule. my fourth & final exam is tomorrow and I never got my third exam (taken before thanksgiving) back....
Dr. Stewart is an amazing professor, probably one of my favorites at Camden County. So many people told me not to take her class because it would be too hard and I'm so glad that I didn't listen to them. If you attend class, listen to lectures, and study you will not have any difficultly. Material is hard no doubt but she makes it understandable.
I have mixed emotions. She is clearly knowledgeable but talks to us like we already went to school and got a degree in Biology. Exams are HARD. Coming from someone who does very well in college this was the hardest class I've taken so far. NEVER answers emails. Overall, if you actually DONT mind making a class your part time job then take her.
Horrible professor, took this course online because of the pandemic. Shes doesnt teach you at all she only read out the book which we can do on our own. She gave us a load of homework, she make up every test making it tricky rewording things different. She doesnt grade work on time took over a month to grade assignments, well until the last day.
Very unprofessional, not helpful at all. Take at your own risk.
Assumes her students know the subject already. Makes study guides for tests however literally none of it will be on the exam. Makes up her own questions for exams and quizzes twisting everything around. literally teaches NOTHING online just posts homework. On zoom if she is asked a question about the chapter she will simply change the subject.
The worst professor I've EVER had. DON'T ask her questions, she'll make you look stupid infront of the class. DON'T except to have things graded until months/weeks later. DO except your final grade for the class to be a good ol' surprise at the end of the semester. Do yourself a favor and never take this woman. She is absolutely terrible.
None of the things she taught us were on the test at all.
I don't recommend this professor. She has almost no communication with students. Does not reply/ rude responses to emails. Has no empathy towards students issues at all. Lectures are all over the place. Not nearly enough time for tests, and they are difficult. Gives so much homework and FLIES through chapters. This class is a full time time job.
Stewart is an easy going, understanding professor as long as you put the work in (hand in assignments, read, etc). Much of the learning is straight from the text book, but her lecture videos sometimes clue you in on what the test will be like (I recommend watching all of them). Her note outlines are super helpful and the tests are completely fair.
I took Dr. Stewart for BIO111, and I thought her lectures were on point. Good outlines for the chapters. You'll have to read the e-text. The exams can be hard though but if you put in the time to study you'll be fine. Homework was pretty easy.. She may not answer e-mails right away which was the only downfall. Taking her again for microbiology!
Worst class I have ever taken. Exams are impossible and she shows no remorse. The exam questions are not even taken from the textbook, she makes them up to be impossible to find the answer! She is too worried about students cheating on exams.
An extremely tough grader, took as a Summer course online and the grading weight of the assignments had changed 3 weeks into the course - resulting with my grade dropping drastically from an A to a C. This professor gives so many assignments, professor does not allow an appropriate time for exams resulting in a low grade from rushing to complete.
5 Exams directly from lecture material, multiple choice and open ended. Gave multiple extra credit opportunities for those who needed it. Knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding. Excited for student success in lab. Overall, it was a pleasure taking Dr. Stewart, and I'd do it again if given the opportunity.
Love this professor would definitely take her classes again. Very helpful gives very good and detailed power points. Very warm and open to talk to. I just really enjoyed her class
Honestly, as long as you're used to doing tougher classes then the classes and lessons are really high quality. As my first college course, it really set a good pace for me compared to high school and I really felt like the professor was there to teach and make us learn as opposed to just monitor the students.
I am very happy that I took Genetics with Professor. Stewart. She is very funny and honestly makes the class so fun. Genetics is not an easy course but she makes learning genetics via labs, lectures, homework and online quizzes much easier. She often gave long extensions on labs that allowed us to correct any mistakes. I recommend taking her!
Dr. Stewart is very personable and is often open to feedback from her students. Deadlines are fairly flexible and you always know ahead of time when things will be due. I love her sense of humor. She is very knowledgeable and helpful.
I would not recommend taking her. She havent updated her videos at all for 2 years now. Her test is very hard and she does online monitor testing. You really need to study hard on her class to be able to pass. Her labs were very easy. Prepare to read!!
I don't recommend this professor. Her class was very unclear and difficult. She will not answer your emails or any question you have about the course until the course is over.
Professor Stewart is super unorganized and always late, but I do feel she has good intentions for her students. Her opinion is the only correct opinion. There is a good amount of homework, but they are not too difficult. She gives 5 or 6 major exams that your grade depends on. The tests are very hard, you need to study a lot. No help, no e-mail
Took her for BIO1 in the summer which was a challenge since it's accelerated but as long as you watch lectures and study, you'll pass. 70% tests, 20% labs, 10% HW. Only 8 tests (multiple choice & proctored) & she drops the lowest. HW & labs are easy & have flexible deadlines. She responds pretty fast thru canvas msg and wants to help you! Take her!
horrible took it online and she does not grade til the end of semester
You either love her or you hate her. She has a very specific dry humor but it could be worse. Offered a few small extra credit opportunities which was helpful. She takes a very long time to grade and even longer to enter them into canvas. The exams are based on the lectures so take good notes and be prepared to study!
Taking this class was a struggle. The professor doesn't seem to put much effort into teaching, just assigns a lot of confusing busywork. unstuck study was a lifesaver for preparing for exams, though.
Dr. Stewart's hybrid class was nicely structured. We did reading/notes independently and labs in person, and I liked this setup because I could ask questions about the material at the end. I recommend watching the lecture videos for the notes and then doing the readings and hw (though I did fine skimming the readings, everything's in the videos)
