Great professor.. Gives good examples..
Dr.T was great(esp. compared to phelps), goes over all hw, tests are more of competition to see who can write fastest. But very clear on material. Grading sucked, always reminded class would only get 9 A's at end of sem.Willing to help, a bit intimidating.
He threatened 15% of our grade to be removed from our grade if we missed ONE class... we forcibly persuaded him to rethink that one...
Disrespectful of students, answers cell phone during class time.
Took him for University Physics 1 and 2. Helpful teacher, willing to help in and out of class. Everyone complains about him because the class is super hard, no room for slackers in this class. If you aren't a slacker then you can learn ALOT in this class.
He is a very hard and unfair teacher. If you take his class you are on your own. If you have to take him, make sure you have no other classes and plenty of time for his madness. He is not a student-teacher.
A very difficult course, at least while concurrently taking Calc I (take it first if possible). Dr T. is very helpful and approachable, and is available in his office often. The tests could be better designed (shorter, less exactly like homework prob.s)
He is not a good teacher, no reviews before exams. When he goes over problems if he does not have time to finsh the examples, he will still put them on the test. He is the first professor that seems to try to fail you if he could. Not a man if his word.
The class is very demanding. As said before, don't even bother if you are a slacker. I don't know about the other raters' experience, but Dr. Tulsian is a very good teacher in my class and always willing to help when asked.
He's not your high school teacher, and you should be thankful for that since you are now in college. Welcome to actual work! He doesn't baby anyone with study guides but he does a GREAT job explaining the material well enough for you to understand and apply it.
Very good professor! You have to study but he is every time willing to explain you everything if you don't understand and the tests are not to bad.And he knows pretty mutch everything you can think of!
how is tha class formatted???? Is there alot of homework?how many tests do u take during tha whole semester?are they really hard tests? is there apossible way of making an A in the class?
excellent teacher. always willing to help. tests are always like the homework problems- no surprises! subject is hard- it's physics! anyone who gives this guy a bad rating should take GYM classes!!
As mentioned before, if you are gonna slack off, pick another class. I slacked for the first half of hte semester, and had to fight like hell to get a 70%. His tests are all based off of his homework, and homework solutions, with lecture PP on the VC website. Cares how you do more than most profs
Dr. T is a good teacher. Very fair but definately not too easy. Always wanted but never got a Tulsian dollar. Study hard and do the homework religiously. Tests are strait from the assigned problems.
I admit, he is not the easiest teacher in the world, but I would highly recomend him! For all you future electrical engineers or computer engineering people, you'll appreciate him a lot more once you get to a university.
Nice guy but terrible teacher. Very bland and boring, which doesn't help Physics at all! The problems he does at the end of each chapter are the same problems he puts on the test. He does change the numbers though so pay attention. Use that index card for all its worth! Don't take if you are not ready to give 110% cause he will make it rough!
Dr. T's the man!!!

Excellent, just do the H.W. problems a few times put the formulas on the card and voila you get a tulsian dollar(or an A). Always has good examples. Goes over the H.W. and explains it thoroughly. Lectures can be boring but that to be expected. Will help you after class if you need it. Very flexible with class needs.
Boring teacher. Very cruel to students who do not understand and need further help. Picks on students who failed test. Makes students feel stupid for asking questions. Grade Average all semester was a 50.
He is nice to the people that do well in class. If you do bad, dont make an effort and dont ask questions,be prepared for him to pick on you alot.Embarrassed alot of people in my class.Test are fair, but he is a hard grader.Take your time in his class. It is HARD if you are a slower thinker.Notecard is crucial to your test grade.
I took him for physical science and he was sooo nice. He allows you to use a note card on the test and is willing to explaing things to you till you understand . I recommend him for any class.
This guy is horrible... He has a really bad attitude so if for some reason he doesnt like you (wether you have even ever had a convo with him) he will yell and ridicul you in front of other students. He will tell you to drop his class if you ask too many questions. Not one person (staff included) i have talked to has had a nice thing to say.
Dishy indian guy who teaches physics well. When it comes down to test just study the problems he gives you. Some people ask stupied questions in class, so dont raise ur hands. You get to use notecards also on tests to put ur equations..GoodLuck!
this guy is in my opinion the best teacher at bdcc. very helpfull and wanting to explain whatever you need to know. some people will get bored but you dont have to attend if you dont want to. one notecard is allowed in each test and the formulas are very important
To my fellow students who are considering University Physics I at DBCC. I would recommend watching the MIT physics videos to reinforce class lectures. The instructor at MIT does an excellent job of illustrating key concepts in a methodical manner. For example the MIT instructor illustrated Doppler effect hell of lot better then Dr. Tulsian could ev
Dr. Tulsian is a very good professor for someone who is about to transfer to a University. Do not ask for extra credit, he dosen't care what grade you make in his class. He says "grades are for suckers" its what you learn that is important.
Just study the examples on the board. The test question are almost exactly the same. He also lets you use a note card and you can write whatever formula you want on it. Really nice. I just wish he would go slower. He is cramming in 18 chapters in 1 semester and can be kinda frantic.
I enjoyed being in Dr. Tulsian's class. He's Extremely helpful and really cares that students do well. You must take this teacher!!!
Very helpful and great in his office. Homework problems will take you through a test. Show up on time and don't be rude and you'll be fine. Would definitely take again given the opportunity.
Really nice professor, all material covered is on powerpoints posted on his site, so info can be reviewed. Allows a index card "cheat sheet" on all exams. Confronts disruptive students - love it!
All the info you need is covered in the slides he goes over in classes. Don't need to buy the book. You use a notecard on every test including the final. All test questions come right from the slides.
Fantastic Teacher. Easy Class as long as you read the slides.
Really great teacher...just study the problems and read the slides and you'll do fine. I would highly recommend taking him.
I took the online course over the summer, and thought it was very easy! The workload is not overwhelming and he responds and lets you know how you are doing. I'd recommend him to anyone!
I really like this teacher a lot. The lab is fun.
Took the online class over the Fall semester. Was easy enough and he responds very quickly to any questions. Would recommend.
By far the best Daytona state has to offer educationally and just fun to be around in general. Deffinately take this class if you have the opportunity, whether you need it or not.
he's the best!!!!!!
I phy2048 last fall and was intimidated by physics prior to this class, however I not only enjoyed the material but loved Professor Tulsian and his style, hes fun to be around and a good guy. He will help you as long as you dont ask irrelevant questions. Its almost surreal to get such a great professor at a comm college, hes the best at dsc!!!!!!
I took the on-line Physical Science course, and it couldn't have been easier. No paperwork at all, just quizzes and tests straight from the text. The only way not to do well is to just not try.
He is great and the test questions are pretty much from the book. Loved him!
I took his physical science on-line class. It was alright, all you will have is a book. He doesn't have any other helpfull stuff on-line. But the best thing is that 80% of questions on exams comes from the end of the chapter tests from the book and his practice quizes. So, that made it easier.
I also took his online class. He was SUCH a great help in this class! Everytime you emailed him he was quick, direct, and very knowledgeable. The quizzes and exams were all done straight from the txt book and were pretty easy. I would definitely take him again. First Science class I ever paid any attention in, or even enjoyed... Thanks Dr. Tulsian
He is a really good teacher. Took him or online class. its straight tests and quizzes discussions.. and the answers for tests and quizzes come from end of chapter self tests so the answers are right there... he is very helpful and a such a nice caring teacher!
I had him for phy2048 and phy2049 and he is one of the best teachers I've had in DSC.Tests were so easy, just study the problems he does in class. If you have any trouble understanding the material,go to his office hours. He cares so much for his students, extremely helpful and friendly. He is just an awesome person.Take him!
Online version. Easy class!
I took the Physical Science class in the Summer. I enjoyed every minute of the class. He is wonderful. He cares. He responded very quickly to all of my questions. I would definitely advise everyone to take him, he is the best!!! Thanks Dr. Tulsian!
i had him for physics 1 and i thought that he was the worst teacher that i had ever had.
Excellent Professor. Very helpful. I took his Physical Science class online. He had discussion boards set up and answered emails within 24 hours. Easy A if you do the work. Gives opportunity to get extra credit.
Although his tests are as easy as studying the problems he solves on the blackboard which he gets from the textbook, he doesn't explain how to get from point A to point B, thereby making it difficult to understand seeing as how memorizing a 5 minute problem is impossible.
fast paced class. is always available for questions or problems during office hours. highly recommend him
The exams are all multiple choice. Study the problems he does on the board and you are set for the exams. Lab was easy. This professor was very self centered he came across as a jerk at first but if you get to know him you find out differently. Just come to class redo the problems he does and thats all it takes to get an A.
I took this class online and I highly recommend it. Professor Tulsian returns emails within 24 hrs and encourages you to come to his office if you have any questions. You need to read the book to help with tests. Also there is a quiz at the end of each chapter with answers. This is helpful when taking the tests.
Dr. Tulsian is one of the best teachers I have had @ DSC. I took this course online and he was very prompt with returning emails, answering questions, & always offered interesting insight. I would recommend him to anyone planning to take this course. The syllabus he provides is very clear & the answers to practice quizzes are very similar to exams.
Smart teacher. Very helpful.
The easiest physics class you will ever take.
The easy class! Read the chapters, alot work. I enjoyed the class.
I loved this class! I took it online. As long as you read the chapter the class is easy! He gives extra credit opportunities, the syllabus is clear on the requirements, and he is extremely helpful and responds quickly to emails. I totally recommend taking this!
I took it online, and as long as you read the book, you're good to go. He responds promptly to questions and even through e-mail seems extremely enthusiastic about the subject he teaches. Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend him.
Took his online 8 week class. Very organized lessons and assignments every week. Replies quickly to any questions. There are three extra credit tests incase your grade needs some help. No way you cant make a good grade with him. Good class and professor.
Straight to the point. Show up to class, be respectful and understand how to solve the problem- expect atleast a B.
I enjoyed taking his class this past Fall and I will be taking him again for the second part of physics in the Spring. He reviews every thing you need to know for the test before hand. My only recommendation is to study often. Do not wait till the last minute to study for the test. His labs were always interesting and easy.
Not the best teacher ever, but for an online class it was bearable. However, the book answers and the answers to his quizzes are not always the same, and he won?t budge on correcting that. Also, there tends to be a lot of repeat questions on his quizzes, but he?ll give partial credit if you miss it/them.
He is very upfront about information and understandable. Tests have a few debatable questions. However, if you are a minor, I suggest you avoid him. I was not treated well and he made it seem like I represented the entire generation.
I took him for Physiacl Science. Unfortunately, he's a physcis teacher and a genius. Science is not my major or passion and he couldn't bring his understanding down to my level. Sometimes answers were more complicated than questions. If you have background knowledge and love science, this is your guy. If not, move along.
Overall, a pretty easy professor. Simple homework, easy labs, just show up for class. Study.
Always open to help students, and as far as you show up to class and study consistently, you will be fine. Overall, he is great teacher.
First class I've ever taken online. As long as you follow the syllabus and practice the end of chapter questions you will be fine. He uses a lot of "summary slides" for the chapters as well that help out. Responds to emails within a day or two and gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. I do recommend for online course!! A+++ Instructor!!
He is hard
He can be rude to students-that's in his right-unfortunately it's a little over the top at times. But he really is a nice guy and wants to be clear! Easy tests, does what is on it and puts formulas on board. Would be easier to understand if the maths were presented. My advice? Take as much calc as you can before taking physics, you'll fare better
SUPER EASY ONLINE!!!! Just read the chapter and you can go online and look at the study guides that are word for word on the test and helps alot!!! He is awesome at giving feedback, grades quickly, and easy class!!
He' s a great guy, not always the clearest on his lectures, which he will drag out as much as possible. Labs were straightforward and as long as you pay attention, tests are challenging but are what he lectures about in class. GO TO THE SEMINARS after class, they help out with his grade. Taking him for Physics 2!
It's a hybrid class n I'm doing better w online material better than the in class. He uses power points for in class n there is not much info on what is being taught. I also don't feel he explains things well enough. I asked if there was something I can refer to since he doesnt go by the book he told me to use google. This class is also BORING !!
This was the online class. Super easy. Syllabus clear. Very little discussion expected. No papers to write. Read the text and you'll do great. 2 chances at practice test and 1 chance at chapter test. Test questions are from the McGraw Hill question bank. Responds quickly to emails. Grades posted immediately. Great experience.
Great professor! You can really tell he is passionate about this subject and feedback is great! Would definitely recommend this professor!
Class (Physical Science) is a bit boring but it is very easy. 1 exam and one short email, discussion, and quiz every week. He answers any questions you have even if you aren't interested in physics and material is interesting. Test questions are also right from the book, the online test banks, and can be found on Quizlets online too.
I took this class online and he was great! The course was easy, not much work or tests. A few discussions every other week followed by a practice quiz and quiz. He also offers extra credit assignments, 3 of them!! Didn't really use the text book much at all.
Mr. Tulsian is awesome! I would take this class again, I wish he taught other science classes I have left!
This is a hard class. I took it with Calc 1 and it made that seem like a day off. You start on day 1 doing derivatives and integrals, which he will show you if you need help. His tests come directly from the book problems we do in class which makes studying nice and simple. He is very funny, however do not think that this class is playtime.
Dr. Tulsian is by far the worst professor I have had in my entire life. Not only does he openly insult students, but he also is extremely rude and vulgar during lecture. This professor has ruined physics for many in the class, including myself. I would suggest to take Physics with Calculus elsewhere AT ALL COSTS
I learned a lot in this class.
He's a real genius! I even saw his name on the reviewers section of the textbook we were using for this course! So I really trusted his way of teaching and the problems he chose to do from the book. This was a tough class for me because each physics problem is unique, but I'm currently doing well! Hoping to see him again for Physics 2!
Great professor. I would even rate his hair as an A+.
He's a pretty cool professor! The workload is kind is not too hard as long as you study. Also, you can pass with a minimum of 50 in this class, but if you're wanting to become an engineer, then you should try to aim for at least a B+ so you'll be prepared for PHY2049.
Though hard to tell, this professor enjoys Physics, and will work with you. However, his grading criteria is very unclear and leaves you guessing often. He puts formulas on the board during tests but seldom do they help. Being in a lecture hall his mumbling does not make his lectures any easier to follow. Content on tests don't match lecture.
Problems on the tests ARE THE EXACT SAME as the ones in lecture. The only thing that changes are the numbers on the problems. Grading criteria is straightforward in the syllabus. You can even pass his classes with a 50! Only 4 problems for each homework. He's literally helping you to pass!
Took the online physical science. Easy A if you do what your suppose to. He gives lots of extra credit. Emails, disscussions, quiz and tests. Gives feed back and responds quickly. Id def take him again.
Professor Tulsian couldn't make the class any easier. The ones who rate this professor poorly are just plain lazy. Each chapter he goes through several problems on the board and the exam is composed of the EXACT same questions just different numbers. It truly is an easy A as long as you go through the problems several times on your own!
One of the worst professors at DSC. He is rude and gets upset when students ask questions in class, not helpful during office hours either. The lectures are useless since he just reads off slides from powerpoints. Got an A in this class, learned nothing. I would like to say avoid him but unfortunately he's the only professor teaching physics.
Hands down the WORST professor Ibe ever taken at DSC. Very unfortunate he is the only professor teaching physics or else I would advise to avoid Dr. Tulsian at all costs. Hard to understand him through his mumbling and rarely explains what he is doing in his class work problems. Extremely rude and condescending. F-
Professor Tulsian knows the material himself but has a very difficult time relating it to the class. He often will just work out a problem without give much explanation of how he got his answers. His test are all scantron; they are extremely challenging to complete in the time allotted. I have not felt as comfortable learning the info as usual.
This is a very casual professor. There are no presentations or any of that BS (in lab you have to work in a group of 2-5 people). There are 4 tests and they are the problems he does from the book with different #s. He lectures for half the class and then does the associated problems from the book on his iPad and and projects it to the board.
Don't let the bad reviews fool you as far as the teacher's personality. He is an amazing professor that is extremely knowledgeable. Honestly the subject matter is not the easiest at all but he creates an environment of learning unlike any other physics professor. Take him and you will learn plenty of real world applications of the material.
The test questions are derived from the problems you do in class. The grading criteria is concise. He is easily the best professor I have taken at DSC, and simply studying a few hours per day will guarantee an A. He doesn't appreciate people that aren't paying attention, so avoid using your phone during lectures. He is always available after class.
He is there to help you learn physics, but also will not spoon-feed the subject to you. He will help you understand how it all works, then expect you to read some at home, and do homework . He is not mean, he expects great things from you because he knows that every person is brilliant. Be there in class, organize well, pay attention, and ask ?'s .
I took Dr. Tulsian for Physics 1 and 2 with Calculus. He pretty much gives you the test questions and changes the numbers around. If you do the work it's a pretty easy class. If you don't do the work he'll still give you a C. You have to physically try to fail this class.
Dr. Tulsian is a great person and professor. I had him for Physics 1 and 2 with Calculus. He really wants you to succeed and presents clear material. The exams are fair and exactly what he taught/gave for resources. He appreciates those that pay attention and engage in the class. I would highly recommend Dr. Tulsian!
He can move fast in lecture, whether discussing material or doing problems. Just ask if it's unclear. If you get something wrong in a test, ask about it. The tests (online) are short, easy, and go over the exact same problem styles that he worked out in class. Come to class and make an effort, and you will pass! Fun class/prof! Highly recommend!
Class is easy. Prof Tulsian, however, is not a good teacher. He provides little insight on the subject or how to do the work, moves at an unreasonable pace, expects greatness from students without providing them great teacher, and is extremely condescending and rude to those who don't immediately understand the content. I learned nothing from him.
If you need this classtake this proff I took it online-Energy & its environmental effects(physics). You do NOT need to buy a textbook. Trust me. He has lecture videos. He has PowerPoints that include every answer to every test question.U only have 2 do 10 discussions-super easy. Then every chapter, send him an email on what u learned.Openbookexams!!
I had this professor for PHY1020 energy and environmental effects (spring 24) and he was awesome. Class was easy for the most part, tests were literally open book tests. Class name will change to something else soon I believe. Communication was awesome and gave insightful responses to discussions. Overall not bad at all would take again.
He was pretty good
Professor Tulsian's class is fairly straightforward. While his teaching style can be a bit casual, the workload is manageable if you stay on top of the material. Using unstuck study alongside the textbook and in-class problem solving has helped me grasp the concepts. Overall, an decent course if you put in the effort.
The class itself is pretty easy, there are 4 tests with a student made formula sheet, 1 quiz per chapter, and 1 lab per week. With that being said Dr. Tulsian is a terrible lecturer, he just mumbles and frequently goes down rabbit holes unnecessarily. Since there is no mandated attendance, I recommend you only show up when you absolutely have to.
Very easy workload. There are 4 tests, all based on questions from a list on the course webpage, which have their work and solutions posted. However, I find it very hard to learn anything at from his lectures. He moves unreasonably fast as does not elaborate well. I often feel like I am teaching myself from scratch when doing the practice problems.
