Brilliant teacher. Always, always there to help you. Always works hard for you.
A very helpful and funny instructor. His use of the computer to demonstrate concepts is top-notch. Very good at helping during office hours. He's also very friendly, so say hi to him when you see him on campus after you've taken the course!
Excellent Math teacher. Entertaining and very clear. His lectures are always complete enough to do the homework. If you can do his practice test, I gaurantee you will get a B on every test.
Good use of Technology in lectures.

Mr Bach is one of the best teachers I've had so far and I would highly recommend him.
hey is really good teacher
He doesn't write the easiest of tests, but he's a wonderful teacher, very funny, very smart, very thorough. Good people skills, helpful. He's a nice guy in general Provides very good practice tests...if you can do the practice tests you can do the tests.
Fantastic!
I would take more math classes from him!
Never understood math until Bach! He's a good teacher.
the best math teacher at srjc, plus i heard his football team made it to playoffs
Fantastic teacher. If you can do the practice tests you can do the tests--makes it very easy to understand, open to questions and comments, good sense of humor. I'd take another math class from him in a heartbeat!
I recommend Mr. Bach. He is awesome.
Teaches math with great energy and humor. Makes taking a math class for non-math majors relatively enjoyable. Difficult tests but dont be shy, he's very easy to talk with and answer any questions on the material.
no quizs. He lets u redo homework for full credit. His test are the practically same as his practice test. Funny guy and easy to talk to. Best math teahcer ive had yet. dont keep track of attendance. ---BIG PROE
Gale Bach is the man! Contrary to popular belief, he is not easy. His tests are hard, but he makes up for it with excellent teaching.
Bach is the un-math math teacher for the ordinary student. You can always count on him to work with you until you completely understand a concept. Excellent teacher! Great guy!
Just read the other comments. Bach is, hand down, the best Math teacher or professor that I have ever had. He explains concepts clearly and with humor, he is always willing to spend time with you to further explain things, and his homework/problem of the week grading poilcy really helps you learn.
High Energy! He likes his job and willing to help you as much as you want. Hands out a review of the test. He's is a great teacher.
He is the best teacher i've ever had. His teaching is very clear and makes math fun and easy...no joke. Plus, if you don't get a 100% on your homework, he'll let you re-do it for full credit...and he still gives out extra credit. He gives you a study guide which is extremely helpful. Best teacher~!!
Mr. Bach is a great teacher. He is so excited about math, and it makes his lectures really interesting. He gives a lot of homework but it helps you keep up in class. He is a really cool guy to talk to in or out of class.
Awesome teacher. Math is not his only interest, but he knows it inside and out. Explains things several different ways which help you understand it on a different level.
Mr. Bach is incredible. I would say he is the best teacher int eh department, but there are many other great ones too. Very funny, patient and down to earth... makes the subject very interesting and fun! His tests are not easy, but they shoulden't be =) If you get the chance to take any math course with Mr. Bach, consider yourself lucky.
Bach is the best teacher I have ever had in any subject, period (and there have been many). His class is awesome. His tests are hard. I can't figure out why he has a reputation for being easy--so not true--maybe because his teaching is so good? If you have the opportunity to take his class, don't miss it.
He is a really good teacher. The class is hard, but the final was incredibly hard. He wouldn't give me three points so I could get an A so I'm a little steamed.
this guy is ausome. I hate math but he makes it so easy to learn. At times he seemed to explain things to us like we were in elementary but that was his way of assuring that knew what we were doing. I got A's in both classes.
Very good teacher has others have said.. But tests are super hard... Being able to make it into his office hours are essential
Totally learned in this class!
Mr. Bach is great. He is very helpful and although there is always a line at his door, he will take the time to help anyone who needs it. I learned a lot in his class and he teaches at a moderate rate so I can keep up.
Probably the hardest math course I have taken in my life. The most rewarding A I have ever received though.Be prepared to work your butt off in this class, it is really tough.Mr. Bach is an awesome teacher that is always willing to spend time with you after class to help you get a handle on tough concepts. Math 1B seemed somewhat easy after this cla
the best teacher ever! if you don't get 100% on HWs and POWs, he lets you redo them and for sure you'll get 100% then. his tests weren't too hard and not too easy. studying the night before was enough for me to get an A in that class. teaches well and i always looked forward going to his class. fun!
Great teacher, loves math and loves teaching it to those who don't. Would definately take another class of his. PS: don't piss him off cause he has some big guns in those sleeves

He's a fun teacher
Best Math Teacher ever had
Bach is such a great teacher and he makes it fun to learn.
gale bach is a ****..cool dude, works hard to make sure everyone enjoys his class..he is a football coach so he loves talking ball

He is great, awesome, funny, nice...... all you can think of. Hope he will teach 1B in Spring.
I think he is a good teacher. But totaly not for Math 1A. He used power point presentation for math. And that is the worst way of teaching math. Also, he never answers questions from homework in class.
Bach was a great teacher! Lectures were easy to understand and he used his office hour to help with homework and test questions. Easy to talk to and makes math fun.
Bach taught me in High School and coached our girls football team... I love Coach Bach! I still remember watching him "graduate" from healdsburg when he moved on to the JC.
Anyone who has had a fear of math or trouble in the past should take Gale's class. I'm never bored and I look forward to class everyday.
An prime example of what a teacher should be. Genuinely cares about the subject he teaches and that you understand the material. Make time for his office hours. Very approachable. Can't say enough about him, except that true, he doesn't go over the homework in class, but only because he has so much new material to cover. Great guy.
I think Mr. Bach is a great teacher, the best i've ever had. He puts things in perspective great, you finally understand why and how things are done in math. The homework is pretty easy, and he answers any questions you don't understand. There is no way you can fail. You'll love math in Mr. Bach's class, he's hularious!!
Mr. Bach is the best math teacher I have ever had. Math is hard for me, but he explains things very well and makes time for all his students with his office hours. Make sure you do all your homework, the weekly reviews and his test reviews and then you can pass his test, which can be hard. He is a prime example of a great math teacher!
doesnt seem to realize he is here to keep us interested more into playing with new tech toys than old fundamentals . overall I was able to learn more from the books than from hislectures
I took math 155 three times before taking the class with this teacher. He was fantastic - if you're not a "math person" you'll really like him. He's energetic, patient and very helpful. I pulled a B in his class, and it was the first high grade I've pulled in math since the 4th grade. No wonder why he came so highly recommended!
not the best ive had seems kinda beefy and preoccupied with the more advanced stuff
I've always struggled and felt stupid in math. I needed a patient teacher who could dumb it down for me and Mr Bach is excellent. I never thought I could do so well in an algebra class, but I'm on course for an 'A'. If I can do it, pretty much anyone can. Mr Bach is great!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Takes alot of time to ensure students can do well with the subject matter. Lots of work but you need to do it to get the concepts.
This instructor is very good at what he does. His lectures are clear and precise with a little humor mixed in. He encourages you to visit his office hours and does his best to accomodate you. If you struggle in math as I have he is definitely the instructor for you.
TO FAST FOR ME !
Very good at his job. Explains the concepts and reasons behind math, not just math.
A generous grader, helpful and interesting. Very fast course, and HARD for me, but I would not hesitate to take him again, in fact, I look forward to taking Math 155 in the Fall semester with Mr. Bach.
He is very clear on teaching.
best math teacher, i took him for MATH 150A and loved him, re-took for 155. very helpful and you know exactly what is going to be on the test. math homework is short compaired to some other teachers and relevant to that problems that he will ask you to do on the test
Mr. Bach is the best math teacher ever! He is very helpful, explains things well and is always willing to help during his office hours. His tests were hard, but as long as you study and do the reviews you learn alot and can at least get a "B".
I really enjoyed having him. He's a great guy who is lighthearted enough to almost make math fun (which is impossible to actually do). Would be nice if he taught the lessons more to what would be in the homework but if you listen to the lectures you'll be able to figure it out. Tests are tough. Drops 1 test, one HW, 1 weekly review,so helps grade.
Awesome guy. Lightens up the class with jokes all the time. Very very clear and concise during lectures. Super helpful during office hours. Let's you redo homework and problems of the week to make up the points you missed. He drops the lowest test/homework/ & PotW. Study well for the tests. The final was pretty tough. He curved it, though.
Mr. Bach is the best math teacher I have had at the JC so far, he really wants his students to do well. He is available during his office hours and never rushes the students who take advantage of that time. He is supportive and very helpful for struggling students. His homework is clear and he gives reviews for the tests. I recommend this teacher.
Mr. Bach is a great teacher. He is very helpful and enjoys the subject he teaches. I would highly reccomend him to anyone taking any math class.
I was a little nervous taking a summer class at SRJC especially math over the summer, but Bach is the best. I'm not sure how well I would have done if I had taken this class with another teacher over the summer but I got an A.
He has Problems of the week to prepare for new material and exams. You are able to correct any homework and POW. Very clear, he never makes a mistake. Loves to help during office hours. Only thing is his exams can be difficult, however, if you give his class the time needed there is no reason to not pass with an A or B. Not to mention he's funny!
one of the most helpful math teachers i have ever had. he teaches math in a very visual way that makes the material easier to understand. it seems like he wants everyone to pass his class by letting students redo assignments.
Mr. Bach is the best math teacher ever! He's funny and doesn't make anyone feel stupid if they don't get the material. He is willing to help during his office hours and lets you have notes on some of the tests! We had one take home test too...plus he drops the lowest test score! SWEET! I can't imagine taking math from anyone else.
I suck at math and took it CR/NC. U just need a 68 percent to pass. If u keep up with your h/w and WR's(worth 30% of grade) he will "show u luv" n let u make up some pts. if u don't do so well on the tests. U aren't going to pass the class if you don't do the h/w, but he lets you resubmit it for full credit. Very nice guy and wants people to pass.
Mr. Bach is one of the best teachers I have ever had (and i'm not fond of math). He is a very fair and helpful teacher. The difference between an A and B really is whether you do the Hw and WR's. He will always make arrangements to see you if you can't make it to his office hrs. Has corny jokes that make class light. you won't regret taking him. :)
He was nice and easygoing, and always had some silly joke to say in class. If I had have been properly prepared for this class it would have been better. He was always willing to help me through though.
Bach is the best teacher, he helps you so much to pass the class. I would take him again! great attitude and such a great person.
Great Teacher!! Pobably the best math teacher that i have ever had. He makes you understand things easily and wants you to pass his class with an A. Will help you after class if you need it. Need to do the homework and Weekly Reviews to pass the class. Would take him again for any other math.
Hes super nice, and really excited about math.
Bach is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. He is extremely clear, very helpful, and a great guy. Lets you make corrections on homework to make up lost points. Tests are challenging but fair. I wish he was teaching 1B!
Took Bach back in '04. The best math teacher I've ever had. Crystal clear. Really works with people with learning disabilities, too. Awesome during off. hrs. Corrected an exam I failed, brought it in and he bumped score up--like others said, he wants you to succeed. Just graduated from a 4-yr. school and he's 1 of the teachers I remember the best.
Bach is a great teacher! I hate math and struggle with it, but he made it seem almost enjoyable. He is very helpful and takes the time to help anyone who needs it. Sometimes I almost forgot I was in math class because he is so funny.
Uses powerpoint to teach making it easy to follow and gives second chances on homework. One of my best math teachers.
This is definately one of my fav teachers. Took him summer of '07 for MATH 155, bright and early at 7am, between my Freshman and Sophmore years at the high school. He was AWESOME. Very clear, and moved quickly, but i never got lost. Great tests and finals, and he tells you whats on them. Powerpoint presentations make it awesome. If you can TAKE HIM
HE IS THE BEST PROFESOR HERE AT THE JUNIOR COLLEGE. HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF AND HAS A GREAT SENCE OF HUMOR. HE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO KEEP YOUR ATTENTION IN CLASS. I LOVE THIS GUY HE IS GREAT.............
Mr. Bach is a great teacher, he uses power point so it is really easy to follow his lectures. He is more then willing to slow down if you need help understanding a section and his homeworks never seemed unreasonable. Make sure to keep up with the problems of the week and go to his study sessions before the tests and you will get a good grade ^_^
Bach is a superb teacher. He is clear, with all of his presentations on powerpoints. He will give you help in an engaging way durring his office our. His test are pretty hard, but manigable. But his final was painfully challenging. I would have needed to devote a week to nonstop studying before his final to get an A.
Bach is pretty cool. Makes funny jokes.Gives test reviews. Grades by homework, test, weekly reviews, and one cumiltive final. If you mess up on a HW or WR problem you can do corrections and get your points!Lowest test score is replaced by your final test score if you did well. His office hours can get VERY busy.He taught very well and was very nice.
Awesome teacher! Very clear! Answers all questions you could possibly have so that you can't help but understand the topic, even if you don't want to. BEST MATH PROF. EVA!!!
Tough class.Holds study sessions and is easy to talk to.Xtremely helpful, but make appointments b/c people pile up during office hours. Lets you redo HW(helpful 4 ur grade in the end)/If bach says he likes an example problem, he def. uses one like it on the test. Study hard and do the HW and you will do ok (replaces lowest test score with finals)
Gale Bach is AMAZING! I have struggled with math for many semesters until I took his course. Mr. Bach truly cares about his students he wants them to succeed. Mr. Bach will always give you chances to make up missed homework points.Class is fast pace but good notes help. I can't say enough good things about him.
Gale Bach is the best of the best. He challenges the class, and is willing to help anyone and everyone. Uses power point in every lecture and is just in love with teaching. Take Gale Bach's classes! He is a university level professor at the JC.
Best math teacher i have ever had! He is really funny and always in a good mood. He did good power-point presentations that were very understandable and he was always willing to help. Highly recommended!
He was a great teacher..definetly one of my favorites. He explained the material well, was always excited about the material and was pretty entertaining. he wasnt completley easy but did not go out of his way to make things hard or make it impossible to get an A. Good class if u want to learn and get a good grade.
Bach is the best math teacher i have ever had. He is extremely helpful, has a great sense of humor and teaches the subject well.
Bach is great. He explains everything real good. I am not good with math but I managed wit his class. He does give a lot of homework so be prepared. It is highly recommended to do all assignments to do well on tests. He helps you as much as he can. If anything, go to the math lab right down the hallway.
he uses powerpoints to teach everything. he is funny and keeps the class interesting. his tests r pretty hard but he gives practices tests that explain exactly what u need to know. he is a good teacher tho definately. i would take him again
He is great. I tried to get him next semester as well, but his class filled up before my registration. That should speak for itself.
I believe that this class is challenging and his test are hard. There are only 10 questions worth 100 points so if u miss a question its automatically down one letter grade. I feel he expects you to understand stuff and his office hours are very inconvenient.
Mr. Bach is an amazing teacher and I would recommend him to anyone, whether you are good at math or not. He is very funny and is genuinely enthusiastic about his topic, which makes it easier to pay attention in class. He is always willing to help students and is happy to explain anything that the class is unclear on. Great guy!
I struggled with the subject matter but he was there is answer every questions I had and didn't make me feel stupid for needing alot of help. Highly recommended for any math class
Math 155 is a hard class. Gale is a great teacher. Will give you powerpoint lectures, very helpful during office hours. DO YOU CORRECTIONS! He'll notice this: student friendly grader: will bump from 69 to 70 if you do these! I'd take his class again.
Let me start off by saying he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His tests are hard and his homework is thorough. The lectures are some of the best I've listen too. He is not easy but he will keep you well prepared. You will learn a lot.
He is an incredible teacher even though I didn't get the grade I wanted (due to not studying). He made the class very interesting and was clear with his powerpoint in lecture. He will also give you a copy of his slides if you have a drive in hand. I highly recommend him, and believe that you'll have a fun time.
I had really high expectations for Bach and I was let down. He's extremely unclear with his lectures, gives tedious, long homework which he only grades half of, and his humor is lame and annoying after two hours! He seems more consumed with using sports analogies and talking about his kids than trying to help struggling studendts like myself...
Mr. Bach is an amazing teacher. If you choose a math instructor at the JC choose him.
I too had great expectations of Gale, but he clutters his lectures with high-speed overly fraught explanations that could be greatly reduced for better efficiency. He is either oblivious to the fact that he frustrates his students with his head-pounding style, or he believes it is a good way to induce attrition of those who he believes lack desire.
He is absolutely the best teacher I have ever had! I took him for 155 and 58 and feel that I can survive math classes now. He is very clear and makes the class fun. He is always there to help. He is not easy and has high expectations but he makes you want to live up to them. I highly recommend him to anyone!
Most outstanding teacher I've ever had. Extremely organized and helpful. Makes learning math fun. If math is difficult for you, give him a try. He'll make you learn. Very patient with those for whom math is a challenge. Just show up for class, do your homework, and study.
One of the best math teachers at the JC. EXPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE HARD TIME IN MATH. Lets you re-do ALL homework assignments, and drops lowest score.(Homework can be tedious at sometimes). Gives practice test & the real test aren't extremely hard. If you need help, email him, or stop b his office hours, he's willing to help!!!
All around very solid mathematician! The best math teacher at the JC. He is very clear and fair grader. If you apply yourself you will enjoy!! Makes math class fun!! Bach is the man!!!
Never wasted a minute of my time. Assigned fair and blanced homework, which did take my a significant ammount of time to do. The JC has some very good Math Professors and Gale is one of the best in my opinion. The incorporation of technology into the classroom really sets Gale above the rest.
Really good teacher. Made calculus easy!! Really easy to understand and the tests are almost exactly what is on the practice test. So if you study from the practice test you'll do great. Would recommend him for anyone taking calculus.
Great teacher, easy to get along with, and really makes sure that students understand subject matter. Not easy, but if you work hard, and talk to him, he will help you to comprehend the subject. Dry humor, but nice personality. Not for people who dislike lectures and weekly homework though.
Legit math teacher. not super easy, but its math so that is to be expected, test reviews are good, and he'll help you if you need it. He makes a lot of jokes to keep himself and students entertained. Recommend to anyone for any level of math.
Pretty much the best teacher I've ever had. Not only is he super sweet, helpful and funny but he genuinely tries to make the material accessible to all students. I highly recommend this teacher for any math class, I took a 1A in the summer, which was a challenge, but Mr. Bach definitely made it bearable.
Clearly he understands himself, but the give and take between students during the class is virtually non-existent. Sadly, so many students are accustomed to math teachers just running through a curriculum like a tape recorder on fast forward, and then having to pick up the pieces on their own.
I had higher expectations of this teacher. I heard great stuff bout him but overall I don't like his teaching style one bit. Lectures don't make sense, never goes over hw. Gets po'd if u don't understand how 2 do certain math problems.
He is the best teacher ever! He makes math fun! He has a very unique ability to make people laugh. You have to be a moron to not appreciate Bach.
He is always prepared! Awesome teacher! knows his math fa sho!
Fantastic Teacher. Clean cut and to the point in. Great personality, easy to get along with, funny, and helpful. Take him for any math class.
He is one of the best teachers I have had...REALLY GOOD! I am not confident in math but Mr. Bach really made me feel like I actually enjoyed the subject. I recommend him completely! He has pre tests that you take that are just like the actual tests, he goes over hw, he is funny and easy to approach. His office hours suck but other then that :)
I haven't taken math for three years prior to this and I really learned a lot. The teacher has a lot of fun with math, making it easier to learn. He gives you chances to redo missed homework problems and will even drop your lowest test grade. Almost no way you can't pass. Highly recommend him.
Bach is a great teacher. Yes he gives more homework and harder test then Falbo but he prepares you for it. Bach's lessons are clear focused, fun and understandable... you don't walk away confused or feeling like you wasted your time going to class. Great teacher. He will prepare you to move forward successfully in your math sequence.
Uses overhead projector extensively for lecture, text for reference and homework. Very accessible for questions, sometimes there is a line at his office hour. Patient, pleasant, listens. Expects adult behavior. Has nicknames for some algebraic processes that take a little getting used to, at least for me.
Gale is the best math teacher I've ever had! His passion for his subject is contagious. He's always in a good mood & that's reflected in his lectures. His tests - well, it's calculus, so they're not easy, but he more than prepares you for them, but you need to be willing to study on your own. He's always there for questions in person and via email
Gale is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had at the JC. I highly recommend him! Do not expect an easy A. HW is 20% of the grade with the ability to correct and return in for max points. Go to his office hours, he wants to help you. The lines maybe long though. STUDY HIS POWERPOINT EXAMPLES! Put the time in and get a good grade!
Gale was awesome. I had taken Math 150 A two times prior to taking Gale and I was finally successful. Gale makes it clear that taking his class isn't easy if you don't work at it. That is by all means, true! Gale was available during office hours. He was very friendly. If you are like me and can't stand math but need it, take Gale with no regrets.
Good ol' Bach. Sure he's there during office hours, but don't expect him to actually interact with the students during class. Tape recorder on fast forward without even looking up. Even ignored a valid question, keeping everyone confused for 30 minutes. Gets mad when we don't pass papers just the right way. Poor interaction.
Great teacher, great man. Lectures are to the point, no fluff, and are extremely clear. Must do homework to get credit, exams are straight from book and lecture, so show up. Do not expect it to be easy as he expects a lot. Also really nice and willing to help.
Amazing teacher! One of the best math teachers around for sure! He is funny and is always in a good mood. HE DOES answer your questions in class. His tests are simple and gives study guides. You can do homework corrections. Great guy take him!!
Great math teacher!!!! Take him!!!
Bach is an awesome teacher. He even dances in class to help those visual learners :) Never had an interest in Math, hated it actually, but his class made me like it more and more. He helps prepare you for tests by giving you test reviews with the exact types of problems that are on the test. Great teacher!
TAKE BACH! Great, exciting lectures. Math 1B is difficult but Gale makes it fun and explains very well. It's very apparent he loves teaching math. Tests are fair as long as you study and prepare for them. TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM!
I've taken basic algebra so many times and have never grasped it, nor cared. This semester Gale made it fun and understandable. It wasn't about the answer, but about the behavior of the math. Crystal clear lecturer, repeats concepts so you're sure to get it and always there at office hour. Not "easy" or "hard." Your grade will reflect your efforts.
If math is not your strong suit then this class will be hard. However the teacher really wants you to succeed and makes sure your really prepared for every test. I'm horrible at math, but I tryed really hard and miraculously got a B. Tip: Make all corrections on the HW and do good on the final
I'm not a fan of math but Mr.Bach made this class so fun and literally impossible to not understand. He is funny, and really wants you to succeed in this class. He is always available to help and has study guides prior to each test and gives you time to ask him questions you have about the homework. Greatest math teacher ever!
I have mixed reviews of this class/instructor. Gale is very nice, knows his material, and wants you to succeed. But, there are no quizzes, no questions, and very little of the homework is graded. Do all the homework, correct any errors for the points, and know the online review problems and you'll do fine. His humor can get annoying at times.
Bach is an amazing math teacher! i learned so much from him and he has always been a help! take him if you can but know that he isnt an easy teacher. you actually have to try in this class to get a decent grade
Gale is my favorite teacher at SRJC by far. I took both 1A and 1B with him, and I would take any Math class he taught. He loves math, and he wants you to love it too. Do your homework, corrections, study his powerpoint examples, and practice tests and you will pass his classes. Go to his office hour, he loves his students, as they are all his kids.
Gale is a phenomenal instructor. His expectations are crystal clear and he expects you to put in the effort he does, but it is college after all. Bach's quirky jokes breaks up the monotony and he will seem repetitive, but you'll appreciate it in the end. He will not give you an A, but he'll do whatever he can to help you earn it.
Bach is the most clear teacher ever. Pretty much gives you the questions that are on the exams with practice exams. Only 3 test. If you understand the pratice exams you will get an A on the test. There is a non calculator part on the tests. Homework is graded. But overall he is a wonderful teacher. Always tells funny jokes.
Math 25 was not an easy course, but Mr. Bach took the concepts and made them understandable. His availability and interest in helping his students is unparalleled. His final was not easy, but I was able to work through it given what I learned all semester and ended up with an A.
Bach is the best teacher I've ever had and the best math teacher at SRJC. He is very approachable and always willing to help you. I had him for 1A and 1B and he made those classes very manageable. He explains everything perfectly. It's obvious that he loves math and loves teaching it so take him if you can!
If you struggle with math Gale Bach is the teacher for you explains and breaks down problems to your level. Hmwk due 1x a week not all are required to hand in, but you can check your answers in his office.3 test n final.Do the work n show up for class you will pass and gain knowledge to help you with future math classes.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Repeats things a lot to help you remember, will go out of his way to help you understand. He is very passionate about math and now I am too (suprisingly!). He's funny and als gives you cool math facts while learning. I'd HIGHLY suggest taking him.
Best teacher I have ever had, he broke my fear of mathematics and now I actually kind of like math.Highly recommend this teacher, a lot of Homework but he definitely has a method to his madness. just don't tell him to get the Bach out. thanks Bach
Best math teacher I have had. This guy is a LEGEND. Great with lectures. Explains things well, and really gives you the tools you need to understand the subject material. TAKE HIS CLASS. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
I had a great math teacher in high school, but this teacher definitely beats him in clarity. Bach is very passionate about math and makes it as clear as it possibly can be. A lot of homework, but it pays off. Practice tests that are exactly like the actual test. Straight forward class. Definitely gonna take him for 1A.
I really enjoyed Bach's class. He makes corny jokes which is fine with me. He teaches the class primarily with PowerPoints, so if that's your style he'll probably work well for you. There's homework every night but that's not at all unreasonable for a college math class.
Best teacher at the JC. My 2nd semester with him. Teaches thoroughly in precise steps. Relates math to real life, cracks jokes, makes math fun, and truly cares that his students understand the concepts he teaches. Each class, Bach goes above and beyond to ensure that the concepts are clear. Has helpful practice exams for tests. Take him!!!
Gale was very helpful and explained everything completely. He was fair in his grading of the homework and test including offering the ability to resubmit homework for full credit. Always willing to help any student. Kept class entertaining and fun. Even in a fast paced course like this the work was manageable.
Best Math teacher I have ever had. His teaching style is not for everyone but he is very clear, kind and helpful on everything. If you struggle with math like i do take him hes an awesome teacher that makes class fun. The class is is not easy but if you do the homework show up to class and try your best there's no way he will fail you.
Great teacher. If you don't know what you're doing, he's the perfect teacher. Pay attention. Through the corny jokes his love of math shines. Follow his lead, and ask for help.
Best math teacher I've ever had.
LEGEND OF SRJC MATH GREAT TEACHER!!!!
Mr. Bach is seriously the best math teacher I've ever had! He is funny, makes learning so easy, is clear on what the homework is, and he provides study guides for tests. I wish I could have him as a professor for every class!
Math is my worse subject ever, but Bach Gale has made it easy for me. He makes math fun. Study, do you homework, show up to class, take notes and that's how you'll pass. He will go out of his way to make sure his students succeed in math, but you have to put in the effort for him to do so. Chose him, he won't disappoint you!
I have struggled with math in the past but Gayle was a great teacher. He didn't skip steps, allowed make up work on homework and provided worksheets. Only teacher I ever had that counted down the time on tests. It was so helpful. His practice test really helped me too. I would recommend going to his office hour too.
Bach is an excellent teacher to say the least. I took him when repeating a math class. He taught the material in a way that was easy to understand, but don't be fooled; this isn't an easy class. That said, he is a teacher that wants to see all students pass. So, take advantage of his help when you can.
Bach is a great teacher! Explains material in an easy to understand way and gives his students study guides before the test, and tests are always formatted as they are in the study guides!Just be sure to study, but other than that, it's so easy! He also allows one page of notes on the final! Take him you'll be glad you did.
Gale Bach a great enthusiastic, and funny teacher. He has a great teaching style, all of his lessons uploaded online so if you miss a class day, you won't fall behind. His tests are only 10 problems (with subparts) but he makes it really easy to study for. He will upload practice study exams that are identical to the test, just different numbers.
Took it over the summer, best teacher, clear, fun and funny, helpful, understandable. Tests are very fair, if you can get a hold of past tests it makes his tests very easy. Youll def learn, i loved math over the summer. EC, hws due once a week, take his morning class theres more advantages like knowin which hw is due n havin till he leaves thatday.
Bach is an old school teacher with old school methods. He teaches from power points which is pretty neat. For every test, he has a practice test which is almost the same as the real exam. He does not allow time AT ALL to talk about homework or anything besides the current lecture. He has very limited office hours WITH VERY LONG LINES!
One of the best math teachers you will find - anywhere. He's clear, focused, and has high standards. When you pass his class you know you can conquer the next level math. He is also easy to approach and wants to help.
Best instructor I've ever had. Lectures are clear, concise, and focused. He honestly loves math and loves teaching. Difficult exams, but he gives you practice tests that you are unfortunately easier than the real thing. Just study though! His office hours were the best. Homework offered a nice pad in the gradebook.
Literally the best instructor I've ever had! I love Gale Bach!!!!
This is the best teacher, math or otherwise, I have ever had! The guy's been teaching for over 30 years and he still gets excited about the material. You would be very lucky to have him for a math teacher. Tests are a but rough though.
Took this professor for Math 150B, a lower level math class, and he is a really good teacher. He has some corny jokes but he LOVES what he does and shows it. Super helpful and I will definitely take another class with him again.
Amazing teacher. If you are taking math in general and you can get him do so! He is really interactive with the class and explains the material very well. Tests are very fair. Grades very fairly and offers a lot of help.
Best teacher ever hands down
Bach is an amazing teacher. He is always willing to help his students and answer any question. Very passionate and enthusiastic about his job. The class was never boring and always pay close attention to all of his examples. He doesn't try to trick his students. He puts very similar questions from homework and lecture on exams. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Awesome. Great ability to clarify and communicate math concepts in simple terms.
Gale is so effervescent and entertaining, even if you do not like math you will look forward to going just to be in his class. For Math 27, you must put in effort to "water the seed,". A study group will be advantageous to all and make sure to do the homework and understand what you are doing. This course is very do-able, just put in effort.
I have been trying to pass algebra 2 since sophomore year in high school so to say that Bach helped me pass it finally as a sophomore in college says a lot about the teacher and the class material. Everything was clear and lectures not as boring as one would expect from a math class
There are two homework assignments due each week, but we only turn in one at random. It may seem a lot at first but it will help your grade since hw is 20%. He posts all off his study guideskey online for each exam, study that and your golden(6 questions)His study guides are in the exact same format as the exams but of course, different numbers.
Mr. Bach was an EXCELLENT math teacher, which I have a hard time understanding (talking about math). He does assign HW each week, but gives you a choice of doing only the 5 questions he wants you to know and earn %80, or do all the problems (which there really aren't ever that many)
Do not let those other reviews fool you. Although Bach is a very kind professor and passionate about teaching Math, this class assumes that it is primary for your major, not secondary. Class average for tests are C's, since notebook problems have no correlation. Textbook is more of a reference than a manual. Do not go in this course alone.
Taking Gale's precalculus class at 7 in the morning was very challenging, but he made the subject matter as interesting as he could. Doing homework and going in to the math tutorial center and Bach's office hours saved my grade. My biggest tip of advice is to never get behind and always go in to get help if you don't understand something.
I took his class over summer. It was intense but as long as you get your homework done and understand the problem, you will be fine in the class. His lecture is very clear.
Prof. Bach has changed my entire view of Mathematics. Here is a teacher that genuinely cares how his students are doing and if the general pace of the class needs to slow down, so be it. He does everything he can to accommodate everyone's needs, even if it means pushing back the test day another couple days. Definitely recommend him!!
Prof. Bach is an awesome instructor. Homework actually counts for something, and you can download practice test that are identical to the real ones, numbers changed of course.
Hands down the best Math instructor I have ever had. Patient, compassionate and understanding. Takes his time to help you understand. He gives much of his time to his students. His passion for his work is expressed by teaching. Witty and relatable. A must for math!
Mr. Bach is a wonderful teacher, makes you earn your grade. Take notes, go to a tutorial center for help, and most importantly review/do the practice test. Good luck.
After going through high school math and not really learning much. Mr. Bach completely changed my outlook on math. Yes it is still very difficult and challenging but just having him there for you when you need help on something you don't quite understand will help immensely. He is very considerate and funny so laugh at his jokes!
I have struggled with math my entire life, but I blossomed in Mr. Bach's class. He is brief but thorough with his lessons and if you don't understand something, he is always willing to help. His class is never boring; he has a great sense of humor and is very intelligent. I would take his class again.
I wish I could have taken more classes with this guy. Get your TI-89 and get ready to pass calculus. With some effort, you'll have an A. Very approachable and helpful. No regrets signing up for his summer 7AM class. He's like a funny, smart, jock dad. You'll like him.
HANDS DOWN best teacher I've ever had at the JC. I can't emphasize enough. He is truly passionate about the subject and truly wants his students to succeed. If you're someone who likes getting their tests back quick he's your guy. Wish he taught all levels of math, I would definitely take him over and over if I could!
Honestly I don't know what everyone on here is talking about... Is he a super nice guy who really loves math? Absolutely; however, he was very rude to myself and other students who had questions... It makes so much sense to him he assumes its obvious for everyone else and gets easily frustrated.
Bach is an enthusiastic guy but goes so fast though material it is very hard to keep up. The tests are a much harder level then homework and lecture. The lecture does not prepare students for the homework, which is graded very harshly. I had a high A in precalc and was well prepared and put in a lot of time but got a C. I would not recommend him.
Calculus is not an easy subject. Bach was an excellent teacher, and provided us all the necessary information for success in his Calculus class. He doesn't have any extra credit, but if you attend class everyday, you should be fine. Would highly recommend for you to study his examples he does in class since they are similar to his tests.
Best Math teacher at the JC. Clear with what he wants and expects. Very helpful.
Bach is the best math teacher I've had at the JC. He is funny, cares about you doing well, doesn't give quizzes, and gives practice tests that are VERY similar to the in-class tests. He gives a medium amount of homework, but gives you 2 weeks to correct your mistakes and turn it in at his office hours to re-grade it. Definitely would take again.
Gale is very particular when it comes to homework. Lets you make Homework corrections which is awesome. He gives you a practice Test before very similar to the test. Review in depth hw problems, or practice Test problems. He is funny when he relates everything to real life. He's very encouraging and likes to help students succeed.
If you're willing to seriously commit time to the class like I was, you should still expect to be surprised on some test material. Ended up with a C+ despite seeking office hours and tutor help.
Basically the best teacher I have ever had. Super engaging and fun
One of the best teachers I've ever had! He has powerpoints that were extremely helpful to study. Tests were very similar to his lectures and powerpoints. He is hard, but you will learn a lot. Take from him!
Works very hard to keep the students engaged and does a great job of making a two and a half hour math class seem a little less torturous. He is a great teacher and class discussion is more than enough instruction to complete the homework. Overall best math teacher I've had to date.
Best college level math teacher over ever had. Can't wait to see if I can take him for another higher level math class!
Hands down, best math teacher I've ever had; he has been teaching math for 35+ years and helps you understand and succeed at an otherwise difficult subject! 12/10 would take him again!
One of the best teachers I have ever had. He wants to see his students succeed and all you need to do is drop by his office to get his full attention on something you didn't understand. He is very approachable. This is the first math class I've ever taken where I didn't need a tutor because he explains concepts so well.
This is the best math teacher ever! This class moves fast so don't fall behind! Stay up on the homework and attend lectures and you will be fine! Mr. Bach is happy to help you anytime you go to his office hours. His lectures are entertaining and he's a funny, great instructor!! I would take him for every math class if I could.
I cannot say enough about this instructor. Gale is the most amazing professor ever. He is always helpful, keeps class time interesting by cracking jokes. Mr. Bach truly cares for his students and will do anything he can to help you succeed. I will take any math classes I can with him. He is the most amazing math teacher!!!!!
Bach was my first math teacher at SRJC and I wish I could take him for every math class here after. He is clear and understandable, open to any questions, and he is very respectful to all his students. Bach genuinely wants the students to succeed and wants them to come away having a positive experience with mathematics.
Not even done with summer term yet, but I adore Bach. He is SO engaging, makes topics approachable and fun, and wants to see you succeed. He is so passionate about math, you can just tell. I don't love his office hours during the summer: once a week for 1.5 hours, but other than that... AMAZING professor.
Bach was a fantastic Calculus 1A teacher. He is invested and cares about the success of his students, and is always willing to devote extra time if someone needs extra help. One of the best teachers I've ever had. Just make sure you do exactly what he asks on tests and homework because he is a Virgo.
Gale is an excellent teacher and cares deeply about the success of his students. However, if math comes easily to you, his lectures are hell. He spends a significant amount of time trying to make the material seem intuitive, often at the expense of doing enough examples in class. But if you need that intuition for math, Gale's your man.
Bach is the freaking man. By far the best math teacher at the srjc math department. I wish he taught at the upper math divisions because I would take him for all of my math classes. His never through surprises on the test and his Hw is very straightforward. If you need to turn in hw late he is very lenient most of the time. ONly take this teacher.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Clearly explains things, is always available for extra help, and makes math pretty interesting. I took him for an 8 week summer class and we rocketed through introductory calculus topics. His lectures were very interesting over 2.5 hours, and he has a sense of humor/energy that keeps you engaged. Highly recommended.
Gale Bach is the best professor i have ever taken! Before him, i have always sucked at math. always receiving C's and barely getting by. I took his 151 course and i left the class with a high B. He is amazing at what he does and really wants everyone to leave the class feeling accomplished!!! Take him! you will NOT regret it. Best teacher out there
Mr. Back is great teacher. I took him for fall 2017 and I passed his class. Honestly he is there to help students if you are willing to seek for help. His ours are flexible for student. He offers great tutoring help at his office incase you didn't understand something well in class he'smore then happy to go over it with you. Great with hw & test.
Math has always been my least favorite subject but this class completely changed that. Gale Bach somehow makes math interesting and easy to understand in a way that it never was for me. He was really understanding with late assignments and he lets you revise homework for full credit. I totally recommend him as a teacher
Bach is an amazing person that loves his job and it shows. Very enthusiastic about math. With that said the way he teaches isn't for everyone. Doesn't prepare you for his tests. Which are bulk of grade. Teaches from powerpoint and doesn't go over homework. In my opinion his class doesn't set you up for success unless you're an independent learner.
Bach was amazing. I didn't pass this last semester bc of my own decisions, but he is hands down the best math teacher I have had. Clear syllabus, offers extra credit, super lenient on due dates, and incredibly understanding of other classes and work loads. Easily accessible over email/during office hours, very punny and gentle. Taking him again!
Mr Bach is one of my favorite professors I've had thus far. He finds the greatest analogies to help relate Math to everyday life. His grading rubric is very lenient with some minute details that he is very particular about. Study both the homework you've completed and the study guide he assigns in order to pass tests. Gale wants everyone to succeed
Best math teacher I have had so far, he is very understanding and as long as you finish all the homework on time and do corrections and don't fail the tests you'll pass!!
Not a very good math student but Gale was awesome! His lectures are great and keeps you interested. As long as you do the homework and make ups you will pass the class hes very understanding and really does wang his best for the students.
Amazing professor. There is a real reason his classes fill up quick. I was so scared going into MATH155, that I wouldn't be successful. But after my first week in Gale's class I knew I'd survive. His expectations are clear and he gives you all the tools you need to be successful. Take advantage of homework corrections and use study guides always.
Bach is a great teacher he has been a teacher at the JC for a very long time so he wants things done a certain way. He explains things in a way even someone that hates math can understand. He is always willing to help you out as long as you communicate with him any issues ahead of time. Very organized, caring, and fair. Take his class
He was very nice, but I was in a 5 unit course, and he got too off track and was not good at all at teaching us the material. Most of the class taught themselves. He was very clear about what he wanted, and he was very very picky with formatting and dropped points for a wrong heading.
He is the best math teacher I have ever taken. His class is like math on training wheels. He really holds your hand throughout the class and makes the material as relatable as possible. He wants nothing but success for his students and he provides plenty of opportunity by having office hours everyday after class! Take Bach for a fun math class!!
It took me 3 years to get out of math150A, after failing it a 3rd time, I decided to risk it all and take math155. Bach made the material easy to understand and will give you credit for the work you show in your exams. A lot of hw but it truly helps you in the long run. I failed 150A miserably 3 times and passed Bach's class with a B! Says a lot :)
I love him! He is the only teacher that has ever actually taught me math, he is so easy to understand and his grading system is perfect to help you pass
Calculus with Mr. Bach was hard, but I did not really mind. He frequently showed us pointers to make the class easier and told us the topics we needed to study for his exams. His exams were not that hard. He only gave us actual math problems to do. No multiple choice problems asking us weird questions. Hopefully I get to take Mr. Bach for 1B!
This was not a difficult class, but I still felt academically challenged from it in a good way. Mr. Bach is such a good teacher. Didnt need to study much for the class in order to ace it. I studied for tests by doing the homework problems again. Pretty easy stuff.
Thanks to Professor Bach, I got an A in this difficult course! He made his class requirements very clear from the get go.
Best professor at SRJC! He retired, but he enjoys teaching, and so he returned to teach calculus. Caring, kind, understanding, and his lectures are clear, and he even gives you note guides so you are not frantically copying notes and actually pay attention and learn. Gives alot of homework, but his exams are similar to the homework. Best teacher!
Lot of lectures. Easy Grader. Clear all the doubts in office hours.
Gale is the best math teacher I ever had. Do the homework and you'll get an A in his class.
By far my favorite math teacher Ive had! His lectures are great, and its easy to tell that he really wants his students to succeed.
Professor Bach has been my favorite instructor at SRJC so far. His lectures are great, very engaging. He overexplains the material, which I love! His tests aren't exactly easy, but they're fair. You won't be surprised by anything, all of the test questions are similar to examples provided during lectures and homework problems, so study those!
Professor Bach was amazing! One of the best math teachers I have ever had. I would highly recommend him. In class power points are clear and thorough. He held officer hours after every class and would take as much time as needed to ensure you understood the content. He also offered corrections on homework.
I took professor Bach last semester (Fall 2022) and his math class was great. His power points prepare you for the homework and his practice tests really give you an insight into how the test will look like so you know how to study. He was the first math professor that helped me enjoy math.Highly recommend him for math 25.
Professor Bach was my favorite teacher. He is so nice and amazing at teaching. He teaches super clearly and is always super helpful to the students. He can be a tough grader and it is really important to finish the homework but he is amazing. His lectures are so well made and he always tries to keep his students entertained.
Gale is amazing. All the lecture slides are available online so you can look at them at your own pace. There are 4 tests and the final. Homework is 20% of grade which is higher than most math classes, and you can do corrections on missed homework problems. Definitely a tougher class than Calc 1 but with a good teacher like him, it's not terrible.
If you're trying to learn and haven't taken math in a while he is NOT the professor for you. I requested to meet with him multiple times outside of his office hours because of my work schedule and he always said no even though he only taught one class. If teaching were his passion he WOULD've met. I DO NOT recommend this professor.
Almost 5 stars but I feel some things are covered very quickly or not mentioned although it was rare. Good teaching experience but do not slack off or show up late. I don't want 1B again with him, but I would repeat any other class with him. Hard class topic but he does make it easier with his slides. Very tough on grading.
Gale is the absolute GOAT. I've struggled with calculus for some time, so I was nervous going into this class after a year off studying math. However, Bach teaches with passion and it made me love learning and doing math. Homework is worth 20% of your grade, do the homework. Great lectures, and is available during his office hours. Overall he's a W
Gale is an amazing math professor who makes calculus enjoyable. With helpful lectures, a focus on homework, and office hours, he creates a supportive environment. I found unstuckstudy ai to be a great study tool alongside the textbook.
Mr. Bach is an entertainer! He sprinkles in jokes, so the class never feels bland. He also masterfully teaches the content. However, he is a harsh grader, especially on tests. I would get one sign wrong and it is -7. Homework is a lot, but he does allow for homework corrections.
I'm a so-so in math (its been a year since taking a math course), and I had to work HARD to pass. This is the densest course I've ever taken, and I barely passed even with a 103% homework completion rate and hours of study. Summer courses are no shortcut; be prepared to work hard almost daily. Don't skip lectures, do all the work, and you'll pass.
