Cassidy is not a good professor. She does not care about her students at all and she tries to trick you on her exams. Sometimes she will add material that she said would not be on the exam.

It honestly would be an interesting course if Gale offered any examples post 1997. She is not very well spoken or up to date on current mediated material aside from the ads she probably found on stumble upon. Her carelessness in providing her students with relevant material reflects badly on her. Take this course...just not with Gale Cassidy.

Her tests were very difficult. Was not very approachable nor pleasant to listen to.

I have better professors. Her readings are dry and boring, plus very difficult to absorb since it is not an actual textbook but rather an assortment of publications. Her lectures are painfully slow as you sit and take notes without a copy of her slides and speaks way too fast on test facts. Her exams are also unfair and she is very unforgiving.

Had her for Soc and Ads - It's a 2 hour lecture with only about 30 minutes of content until she goes off into useless tangents and a load of examples. BUT, those aren't online so you better make a note of them somewhere because she'll put them on the exam. Also there's a TON of reading - majority of the exams and she NEVER talks about them.

One of the rudest professors I've had in my undergrad. She is extremely rude and very unapproachable, calls out students at will for anything they do and has weekly quizzes that are unrelated to the reading. The quizzes feature the most irrelevant questions from the reading that you'd miss even if you read them 1000 times. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Not helpful at all, has difficulty responding to emails and making time for students outside of her lecture hours. She'll say the textbook is mandatory but it is not at all. She also gets upset when people skip her class, which you can also get away with without missing much. Easy pass.

I honestly tried in this her in Soc of Advertising class and came out extremely unsatisfied. Her lectures are 3hrs of completely pointless slides and examples WHICH SHE USES ON THE EXAM. I learned absolutely nothing in this class except to never take her class again. You can tell she puts no effort in her lectures.

professor cassidy is a professor who gets extremely off topic during her lectures and just reads off her notes. no emphasis or excitement in her lectures. her tests are extremely specific and if you dont read every little detail you wont do well.

Cassidy's Advertising and Society Class is very reading heavy, each week has about two 30 page articles, and the midterm and final are mostly based on very specific answers from the text. This class isn't impossible, but be prepared to memorize a lot. Cassidy's lectures are 90% just examples of ads, any of which you can be tested on

Prof cassidy and her soc of advertising course were the biggest dissapointment . I learned nothing from this course and the way we were evaluated and taught was extremely unfair . Assigns a mountain of extremely dry and detailed readings which she barely touches on once in lecture, yet tests them extensively on the exams. DO NOT take this course .

This class was a genuinely terrible experience. She would go on tangents on a regular about things unrelated to the course causing us to miss material. Additionally, her slides were never polished out. She had guest speakers come in regularly and would test us on them (which isnt curriculum. 20% of one test was based off their personal experiences)

Cassidy never took care into her lectures or slides. She frequently had the TA teach her own lectures for her as well as guest speakers come in. She switched the layout of an exam 2 days before the exam. I went the entire year only having 2 tutorials due to cancellations (which I'm pretty sure isnt allowed). Also never there for office hours. Awful

Cassidy is a very unapproachable professor. She makes students feel stupid for asking questions and often her response is "see the syllabus" even when that doesn't answer the question. She relies heavily on guest speakers and you're expected to know every single detail from the textbook.

Gale Cassidy is by far the worst prof. i've ever had. I have not learned a single thing from her and her course. Her lecture slides are pointless and do not cover any of the readings, which is what the bulk of her tests are based on. Moreover, she has a major attitude problem, constantly belittling students for whatever reason she chooses. AVOID!!!

Super mean. If you have anxiety, do not take any of her classes. Racist undertones in her classes. She makes super passive aggressive comments all the time and made me cry multiple times. Would not suggest taking any class of hers.

Literally one of the worst profs I've ever had. Not polite to her students, very opinionated and not willing to help her students succeed. Exams are based on 60% readings and 40% lectures, so get ready to read 60 pages a week and take good notes on the little details or you won't pass the exam. Don't even bother emailing for help waste of your time

The easiest class Ive been taken. If you do the readings (as you should in university so I dont know why a lot of people complain about this) and take notes on those few articles you can easily finish with an 80+. Her class slides are only pictures literally you cannot get easier than this. But she is by far the RUDEST prof Ive ever met.

Professor Cassidy is rude, does not care about her students, and has an awful layout for her online classes. She posts essay length announcement posts every day so you never know what is going on and what to focus on and does not have any desire to help her students. She acts as if students asking for help is annoying and makes you feel stupid.

Professor Cassidy is the worst Professor I have had at Western thus far. She cannot be bothered to make video or voice over lectures, and instead just posts her lecture slides which consists mostly of pictures and a few points that can be easily found on google. She does not care about the quality of the course, she is just here for her paycheque

One of the worst profs I have had in my undergrad. She does not post audio records to her lectures and posts a couple of slides with mostly just pictures. She assigns more than one reading for each lecture, one time there were four readings for just one week! She replies to all of our questions as she is annoyed and does not like to help students.

Given her track record, it's unfortunate that this class turned out the way it did. I have had prof Cassidy for 2 other courses. This course translated online was absurd. Reading heavy for sure, quizzes are way more difficult than they need to be. Super disorganized. If you are enrolled for this class in 2nd semester, I would suggest switching now

If someone tells you that Gale Cassidy is a good professor, they are lying to your face. In my four years at Western, this was BY FAR the worst professor that I had. Not only is she extremely rude, but it is nearly impossible to succeed in her courses. Her tests (and quizzes) are made to trick you, not test your actual knowledge. Save yourself.

I should have known not to take a class with her again. She is even worse with online classes than in person. She posts slides with the bare minimum, and basically expects you to teach yourself through the readings. She is also incredibly rude and disorganized. I strongly suggest that you choose a different professor.

She was the rudest prof I have ever had! She just posted slide shows and the readings and let you figure the rest out for yourself. This was an online class because of COVID and she did not even answer her emails!!! The work itself was not too hard and if you get a nice TA you can do well on the reflections and get a good mark in the class.

I was really excited to take this class because the content genuinely interested me, but I ended up being so disappointed. The prof was not very helpful and I was always so confused as to what we were supposed to be learning about. SHE NEVER POSTED HER LECTURES and just left us to read random articles and figure out what was going on.

This class was moved online due to the COVID pandemic and there was a definite struggle in moving the course online. The accessibility of the lectures was causing many students problem. I reached out to provide suggestions and they were completely disregarded as content delivery got worse. The quizzes also had niche questions that were not relevant

I NEVER write reviews. I read reviews here previously and thought people were dramatic BUT this is the worst class I have ever taken. It was so bad that I had to drop it. HEAVY reading, terrible lecture slides with little information, and the prof is not friendly. Had 200 pages of reading in one week and I am a fast reader but struggled.

As a fourth-year student, I can confidently say Cassidy was the worst professor I've ever had. She is poor at her job, to say the least. I STRONGLY advise avoiding her classes unless it is necessary. Online learning was hard enough, but Cassidy made it nearly unbearable. I definitely wasted my money taking her course. Don't make the same mistake.

Terrible prof, she does not care about her students and it reflects in her lectures as well as in her exams. She tells you what to study for exams but the questions are completely different. If you take this course you will hate yourself and your life for a solid school year.

Please save your time and do not take a course with Cassidy. Not only does she put next to no effort into teaching, but she is also rude to her students. She relies heavily on textbook content rather than lectures. Our second midterm was composed of 60% textbook and 40% lectures which shows just how lazy she is at teaching. Would not recommend taking this course as you're basically teaching yourself.

Lectures should summarize the readings, but they don't. 90% of the lectures are spent watching ads and not on the content. 60% of the exams are based on textbook material. It's a lot of reading and memorizing of dates and timeframes.
