funny teacher, especially with his British accent. can't go wrong. fun class, easy, one main reasearch, random paragraph, readings but there interesting (seriously) and yup.

This British man was pretty hilarious but he was tardy to class quite often. I enjoyed his style of teaching and light-reading assignments.

This class was very easy.Just read the little reading assignments and be prepared to answer some questions about it. He was late to class a few times and we got to leave..he never even showed up for our final!

I love his british accent. His class is easy, just be prepared to do most of your writing in class. He shows several movies and some brittish comedys. But he is often late but always manages to come in just befor the 15min late limit.

This class is so easy! He doesn't expect a certain specific style of writing you can write whatever as long as it fits the subject. He dresses nice but most of the ties annoy me.

Easy going, laidback, teaching style. Great self-depricating sense of humor. I love professors who aren't afraid to get away from the text book. Shows confidence in their intelligence & knowledge of the subject they're teaching. A great guy and if I had known about him earlier, I would have had taken at least two more classes of his.

Just show up, and you're golden. He can be tardy, but so long as you don't make a habit of it, he won't bat an eyelash if you're a bit late as well. He helps you appreciate subtleties in writing by presenting complex movies like "Memento", etc, but all in all, he's a good teacher who preps you for 120. I hate to admit it, but I dig the accent, too.

easy class. 3 tests all multiple choice. however, his class is extremely boring. if you want to be very bored but get an A out of it, take this class.

very knowledgable professor. you will be surprise, he can pronounce the weirdest names in the mythology world and can tell you myths without looking in his notes. very impressive. no homeworks too.

His knowledge of the very cultures went beyond an academic level, it is apart of who he is, it made the class very interesting.

Gareth was immensely interesting. 3 multiple choice tests made the class a cinch (as long as you take notes and passed the tests) Tests account for 90% of grade. I really enjoyed this class and learned a great deal of information. THANK YOU GARETH!!!!!

First of all he is ridiculously gorgeous... Second of all I don't think I would have stayed awake through his slide shows if he wasn't. His accent is the icing on the cake. Gareth is so pationate about what he teaches! Very great story teller, doesnt demand much, tests are straight from lectures, which u can download from blackboard.. if u want to learn about greeks, romans, christians, muslims, he's ur guy.. not including his AWESOME english accent

Gareth is a really great teacher. He knows a lot about humanities. The lectures are really interesting. There are only a couple of tests and a few essays following movies. I never thought I would be interested in Humanities, now it's one of my favorite classes. Plus, the British accent doesn't hurt. :)

He's good looking, and the British accent is damn sexy, but I don't NO if it's his smooth voice or that the lights R low, the class early, and the powerpoint boring, but I'm fighting sleep in the 1st 15. Tests R easy if U review on UR own. So if u like easy tests, good looking professors, or really love humanities, then by all means take this guy.

A real great professor with lectures that have the whole class involved. He has a near manic fixation with The Tudors, Martyrdom in Renaissance Europe and Thomas Moore. With that said, he is a HOTTIE and the accent is dead sexy! Take his class you wont regret it. An added bonus is that u can be late and not be penalized because he is ALWAYS late!

Gareth is an adorable professor. His lectures prove his passion and knowledge for the subject, they pull you in & keep you interested. His attentiveness and worldly nature are what won me over. Tests and papers are fairly easy and very to-the-point. Take a little time studying and you should do well. I assure you the class is well worth your time.

Oh DAMN! Thats all I can say! Wonderful instructor! He drew me into humm. I think its the accent, may be the gorgeous blue eyes! So far work load has been pretty light, one paper and a quiz but we are just halfway through it. He wont put up with texting or showing up TOO late. He is a must take. Pay attention and you will do fine!

Whew! I'm not the only one into his eyes and accent. Midterm was straight from lecture, and he does a mini review with the class. Attendance is mandatory, but he is always late so tardiness is not too strict. His lectures remind me of storytime, watch a lot of videos/docs, and there is no homework or quizzes. Overall great prof and great class!

Very easy to listen to, and ne of the best teachers I've had. I'm mad that I bought the book because we haven't used it at all. Test questions are straight from the lectures, and he posts those online so you don't even have to take notes. Charming and very passionate about humanities. Makes me want to come to every class!

Easy class. Do not buy the text book unless you plan on not paying attention in class. So far we've had one paper about Apocolypto (the movie) and one 20 question quiz. Very laid back teacher and the accent is amazing. I highly recommend.

This guy is a very talented and interesting teacher my only issue with him is that he is so lazy it drove me insane. Great Lecturer and very knowledgeable. ALWAYS late!! was not on time the entire semester and takes 2 weeks to grade scantrons. Can be a magnificent teacher if he tried a little more.

Great teacher. Before this class I could care less about humanaties. His lectures are fantastic and although he does not use the text book in class after listening to the lecture and then reading the book at home the material became better to understand. I had to study my behind off to get an A in the class. He definatly loves what he teaches.

Final grade=A. Easy, listen in lectures, print out slides, text not really necessary. Do the assignments, outline for tests, easy extra credit. Great storyteller! I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed his class. Only 3 tests and 2 papers. RECOMMEND HANDS DOWN

Great teacher. As long as you pay attention in class, you don't even really need the book. We never used it in class. He put on movies, and documenteries to help support his lectures. I think we only had about 3 papers and 3 exams. A little late on getting work back to you. He is very knowledgable and understanding. Overall, great teacher.

If you are ok with things being a little unstructured, Dr. Davies-Morris is terrific. He's extremely knowledgeable and passionate about culture and the arts. Also a fun and interesting lecturer.

Be prepared to deal with some meatheads and bleach blond bimbos complaining about how they can't get an 'A' because of their own shortfalls. For those who can function at a lower division level, his class is easy, and fun. As an intro class, it should be. Show up to every class, write every paper and prepare for every test.

Good teacher, but you need to pay attention to his slides as they count for a part of your midterms. His grading is fair, but the textbook wasn't used that much. Overall, great guy, good teacher..I'll probably take his course he's offering in the Fall.

I passed his class with no prior interest in Humanities and will be taking his Humanities 135 class. As an African-American woman, I'm intrigued to see his perspective on our culture and how the Blues has had an impact on our culture.

Cool and easy teacher great ACCENT!!!! hes really funny but hes usually late class and students then tend to be late as well which is kinda annoying. He's a very intelligent man who knows his subject well, and commmunicates his knowledge on the information clearly and in an interesting way. As long as you pay attention in class you don't even need to purchase the textbook. Also, he never kicked me out when i dozed off during his morning class, giving him an A+ from me.

Loved this class and Loved Dr.DM. Very interesting class and he knows what he's talking about. Felt like I was traveling through Europe with a great travel guide! and yes he's easy to look at. Not a hard class at all, just pay attention and you will get an A. He does need to work on getting assignments back quicker. I would definately take himagain

Class was pratically mandatory. tests are multiple choice (50 questions) and literally all from the lecture. no bother getting a book. not showing up to class would hurt you substantially. overall he was an okay guy.. ended up with an A

Gareth is one of the best teachers I have had at Grossmont College. He knows a lot on his subject and makes class fun and interesting. This was not a hard class but you do need to attend class in order to pass the exams. I would highly recommend this class if you are also interested in European History.

Professor Davies-Morris is a great teacher. His passion for the European humanities is remarkable. He hands down was my favorite teacher of the semester. He keeps the student interested and you end up learning and more importantly retaining all of the info from his lectures. You will have a new found knowledge at the end of term.

Enjoy taking his class, he a chill professor, he also straight forward he till you what he expect of you and what his class are like. If your lazy your not going to mkae it. Take notes and keep up with the reading as best s you can. His study guide are easy anything on it will be on the test. He allow you to use your phone to take pics of lectures.

Dr. Davies-Morris is my favorite teacher ever! I will be taking more of his course offerings when I transfer to state. I have taken all 4 of his courses and loved them all. No real need for the textbook, he usually assigns 1 paper per semester, several tests, 50 questions each. Very engaged and knowledgable. Loves students who show interest!

Great teacher and I love his British accent. Loves what he teaches although it does get a little dry sometimes but it's what you make of it. Only 1 paper do and you can choose from 4 different papers. Gives you a study guide for every exam which tells you exactly what to study. Easy class and pretty interesting. Would definitely recommend him.

Awesome teacher! His accent always keeps your interest! He kinda looks like House! Course material is laid out pretty well and assignments are extremely manageable. Tests have great study guides and no suprises!

The class is lecture based, but very interesting if you like art and history. He is very funny and clear when discussing the lecture topic and is always there if you have questions. Just don't miss class and make sure your phone is off and you are golden!

Haven't finished the semester but I've really enjoyed this Professor. He's very passionate and it's contagious, making the subject quite interesting (Humanities of the Future). The reading and film material is great, really contemplative, but not difficult to grasp.

My only problems with this teacher is that he was constantly late to class and his lectures can be a little tough to sit through sometimes. But overall, he was very clear with the material, his tests are easy when you take good notes and read the book, and the papers he assign are simple. I would definitely recommend him.

To put it lightly, this guy is a DBag. Late nearly EVERY day, and don't expect to receive your syllabus until week 7. I think he procrastinates the same if not more than his students do. Its an easy class, but he makes it not enjoyable. Always pushing back tests because he forgets to send information.

I took the accelerated version, so it felt like more work than it actually was. Weekly postings/assignments. A couple essays and a term paper. Offers extra credit essays. Makes you work for your grade, but learned a lot. you NEED to read the chapters/material if you expect to pass the tests. They are timed, so be prepared!

Doctor Garreth was an exceptionally well read and qualified teacher for the blues humanities class. He has a great sense of humor and is quite charming. You have to genuinely be interested in the course material to appreciate his expertise lessons. I would definitely take his class again. Thanks Dr. G!

Pretty easy class, main portion of your grade are your discussions which are pretty easy to do. Tests are difficult if you don't really pay attention to the readings. He'd always post multiple YouTube videos for each chapter that were longer than 3 hours like people actually watched it. Extra credit is pointless because it'll only raise grade .5%.

You do NOT need the book - the modules/study guides are good enough for tests. Lots of reading. LONG (sometimes 4+ hours) videos. DB are a HUGE portion of your grade - which is good. Tests are difficult because time constraint (20 questions, 15 minutes max, 1 attempt). Work due Mondays. Easy grader. Offers some Extra C. Doesn't grade till end.

Really cool professor, lectures a lot and can get a little boring but he does a pretty good job of keeping it interesting, never used the textbook, tests are super easy, gave us like 2-3 pop quizzes during the year, super easy class and learned a lot.

I took this class online over and 8 week period. I really enjoyed this class and am going to take another one of his classes. I found the information interesting a really liked how he added humor to some of his descriptions of the videos and articles. If you do the work you will pass, but in order to pass the quizes you MUST do the reading.

He quizzes on almost everything he talks about, plus if you don't read the book you wont pass the test. Every question is connected to at least 3 others. Plus there are a lot of pop quizzes on what he goes over in class. If you pay attention and keep up with the readings its an easy A. Plus he gives ton of extra credit, and the essays are easy.

took 8 week class- I did one 300 word d-board post and a 15 minute test to take 20 questions a week (answers not on google :/ must read material to achieve A), wrote two 3 pg 1000 word essays (he provides fun topics), and a 5 pg 1500 word term paper (also good topics). 3 extra credit opps (two are essays). DIDNT GRADE ANYTHING UNTIL CLASS WAS OVER

He clearly loves what he's teaching. The subject matter is interesting and he is downright entertaining in presenting it. If you show up you won't have any trouble paying attention, and with just a little review you'll do fine on the three multiple-choice exams. There is no homework except the term paper. Loved this class.

Professor Morris' humanities of the future was a class was really interesting. His class is lecture heavy & requires about 5 novels. However, he grades on very few things including a presentation for your final. If you like futuristic things such as robotics & apocalyptic worlds & things of that nature this class is for you!

Tons of extra credit opportunities that arent needed. If you take light notes and review the study guide you'l pass the test and you never need your book so dont buy it. If you'r a reader just follow along in the book if you dont want to go to class and you'l still pass the tests. He makes lectures fun and gives no homework except for 1 term paper.

I took his class online and the quizes were very difficult because he only gives 15 minutes to take them from the many readings you have to read or you won't pass them. The extra credits are very lengthy, but he will give you full points on them. He doesnt grade any of your work until the last week of class so you won't know how your doing in class

I took this professor's HUM160 class and it was really fun. The whole class was lecture but I found everything interesting so it helped. There is a lot of reading but the books are worth the time. quizzes on each of 5 books. 3 big tests that require a lot of remembering who people are and identifying things but it wasn't hard or too much.

His 8 week class has rigorous readings with multiple power points and videos. You have to study all the modules in order to get a good mark. Exams are done every week and its 20 questions with only 15 minutes to complete it. Just do the assignments and read what your supposed to and youll pass the class. You dont need the text book.

It's funny seeing people here talk about how hard his quizzes are, all the answers are in the text book if you actually read it lol. He basically passes everyone as long as you follow instructions for assignments

Professor Davies-Morries was a delightful teacher to have! I have had my fair share of terrible professors in my time in college, but he is a rare find. He is flexible with extensions, communicates promptly and clearly, and knows how to motivate students. The class felt nostalgic like being in grade school again. I recommend him.

Tests can be difficult due to the fact that he gives you very little time to complete but if you truly read the material he gives it isn't too hard to pass. He does give a lot of information to read/watch every module but he was very lenient with assignments and gave many extensions. If you complete all homework and pass the tests its an easy A

I LOVE professor D-M. He's just so knowledgable about everything and is an amazing teacher. While we did have like 2 essays, a final exam, and a DB during finals' week, this class was very interesting! Although the book was like 750 pages, we only covered two chapters. DO NOT BUY IT. Memorize EVERYTHING (literally) from the slideshows for the exams

I took his accelerated course and honestly, it was one of the easiest courses I have taken. There is a lot of reading, so prepare. Very few graded assignments. So if you're into that and you do well on those assignments, the class is amazing! Criteria can be confusing.. just read it a few times and you're fine. Would take again!

Very good humanities class. Very clear criteria of what you have to do and you are never swamped with assignments. The syllabus of the class includes many interesting articles and videos that are genuinely fun to watch/read. The professor is very accessible outside of class if you have any questions about assignments.

For an 8 week course the workload was manageable. 2-3 exams with each one including material from 2 modules. Material was very easy to understand and engaging. 1-2 discussions per term and have plenty of time to do it, sometimes even extends the deadline if people are having trouble completing the assignment.
