This is the only math class at PBCC that I have made a B! wish he taught every level of math because I would take him again. My sister also took his class and passed with a B and she does not do well in math either, he helped us both understand Thanks Mr. Bassant!

He was wonderful in explaining things, if you needed help he would stay after and help you figure out the math. This math wasn't easy for me so it really helped to have a professor that was passionate about what he taught, and stay on the subject till everyone got it. The only thing is that he had a very strict no make up test and absent policy

Mr. Bassant is a resourceful teacher. His class is very challenging and and he always pushing you to be your best. He is easy to talk to and very helpful teacher.

This teacher is informative, willing to answer your questions,and provides many opportunities to succeed. I am mathematically challenged, and hand picked this professor due to his reputation of strong instructional skills. You get extra credit for labs and homework properly submitted. We have our own in class tutor.

This professor is helpful and kind. I stink at math and I have an 88 average. He gives credit if you put effort in and even has a tutor in class. Professor Basant will help you in any way he can for you to succeed. I can honestly say, if you do not "get" math, take his class.

Graet teacher, take him if you have trouble with math, he will help you during office hours, has a TI in class..if you do not pass this class with this instructor, you were not trying. I had to take algebra 1 3X in High School b-4 passing. I got a B in Professor Basant's class, a flippin' miracle! I worked hard, but still a B!! whoo hoo

BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER. my sister took his class and recommended him to me and now I will do the same for you, you have to want to do the work but he helps you understand the subject greatly, get on his good side and its a breeze, he will make you laugh and he likes to have a good time although you will never get out early!!!

Any one who does not pass this class is not trying this professor takes the time to make sure each student has an understanding of the material before moving on to the next sequence I could not disagree more with the students that do not like his teaching style if you fail it is your own fault as with any class you must do the homework to pass

He is one of the best math teachers i have ever had! If you dont understand somthing he will explain it to you. I missed 2 days of class and he very willingly let me make up the test and work i missed! If you are looking for an easy A this is NOT the teacher, but if your looking to learn your math and be set for higher math classes then take him!

If you have a desire to actually learn math then you will like Basant. He's very helpful. I missed a class and he told me to come by his office when I could and he gave me a whole lesson until I practically understood everything. I got a 90 on the test where I'm sure I would've failed w/o his help. He also has a down-to-earth attitude. Cool guy.

i missed one day and fell behind fast. hes a good guy and is willing to help but you HAVE to be able to stay on top of your assignments...labs are a must so make plenty of extra time. good luck

Awesome dude! If you have questions don't be afraid to ask him. He isn't afraid to tell it like it is, but don't take his criticism to heart. I despised math prior to taking his course, now I fully understand and enjoy it. Great teacher, need more math professors like Mr. Garfield!

All i have to say is im horrible at math. I passed with a B prep 1 and 2 not because its easy because its not but because he actually teaches and you actually learn. be prepared to do alot of homework but thats pbcc rules not his. hes young hes cool but hes also strict. and get this......he remembers eveyones name the first day!

I am not good in math what so ever. I took him and he is an EXCELLENT professor I am taking his math2 course that's how well he helped me. He will go out of his way to help you understand. He's very fair,understanding and patient! I wish he could teach all my courses! I extremely recommend him for prep math! You'll see! :)

He is by far the best professor for math. He completey gets people. He will help you with anything you need and is willing to go over and over just so you can grasp it. Oh and he's also human! He knows how to joke around and he also knows when to focus. It's a nice balance. I wish he taught every math! Highly recommended!

His big selling point is that he doesn't move on until he is certain everyone understands, which means, if you have a confused look on your face, he will give you the chance to ask more questions, within reason. TAKE THIS TEACHER! Sit in the front of the class, ask questions & take notes. You will learn a lot in this class. I have NEVER had higher than a "C" in any math class and I got an "A" his prep 2 class. Love him!

I have received A's in his first two classes and presently have an A in the third. Do the work, do the homework even though it's not required. Study, pay attention and you'll be fine!

Mr.Basant is great. Took basic alg 2 w/him, got an A+. We had to do a certain amount of hrs in the math lab but it's so helpful, also, if u go to the math seminars he gives extra credit for it. Must do h/w, duh, it's math. He's super nice and fair with grading. Has a lil accent but not an issue. I wish I needed more math so I could take him again!

He is a fantastic teacher. I took him for prep 1 and 2 and i'm sad i'm not able to take him for intermediate. he is so clear when he teaches and will stop and answer all questions. he gives extra credit and kinda cute too.

Basant is a good teacher but he is a very hard grader. He doesnt check homework but dont even think about turning in test corrections without him approving it first! Dont trust the math lab either!

I was barely about to pass his online class for intermediate algebra, but he's a very understanding professor, answers emails quickly. Clearly he wants his students to pass. This class was challenging for me but no different than taking an on campus math course.

Fair grader but be prepared to deal with his moods. He will only help you out if you come to his office. Barely any extra credit offered at all! I wouldn't take him again.

Hes a great teacherr! Doesn't make you feel dumb with your questions unlike other teachers he really can teach. You can get 5 extra points on each test. Uses very similar and sometimes the same problems he in the notes. I got an A and I took it over the summer dual enrollment, all you have to do is pay attention and do the hw (that he doesnt grade)

Great professor!!! I had a "C" in college algebra, but in his summer B (6weeks class) I got an A. Do homework and test correction or go to SI to get his Extra Credit 5point on the test. I would recommend him to anybody.

I dual enrolled and was so happy he was my professor. VERY easy tests. He does not aim to kill you with impossible questions. Homework is good practice but not graded (5 tests is your grade). I did no homework at all and easily got an A. Very good at explaining lessons. Many opportunities for extra help and 5 points extra credit on tests. Love him!

I took him for Intermediate & College Algebra. He is definitely the best math teacher I've ever had. So helpful, gives extra credit, and makes sure every student understands the material. HIGHLY recommended! He also has a great sense of humor! The people giving him a bad rating are those that didn't put any effort in, or didn't do the homework.

#1 tip -Do your homework ahead of class, there is a lot but he will go over what you dont understand and answer all questions so that you can pass the tests (which many are homework questions). The only extra credit is to fix what you missed on the tests so it's best to get less wrong. He has office hours and will give extra help.

It's hard to rate an online course. It's really up to your personal skill and motivation. I worked hard and read chapters and worked out problems and kept a notebook and I have an A+. Don't take an online course if math is difficult for you. Basant sets up his online course for you to be successful. He responds to messages within a day.

If your bad in math , do take him! he is great and will help you out! I went from an F last time I took Math to an A.

No comments further needed except this is my third time taking it I went from a D to the highest grade in class because of this teacher. Extremely good teacher if you are bad in math, you are going to need to study and practice though, and do the online assignments!!! its a must.

Yes he's a good math teacher and the book is very helpful to have but he is a little hard on people that it comes off as rude...for tests there's no reviews and they aren't multiple choice

BEST MATH TEACHER AT PBSC. He's a very nice guy and is willing to help if you're willing to ask. Test are difficult to finish. Does not give a lot of time to take the test.

Focus! do the hw even though is not graded it because it is CRITICAL in order to earn an A. Take good notes because he is well organized. you don't even have to look at the book write everything he puts on the board, and to study for the tests do the all the hw again in a white board. The key is practice I took twice for precalculus and calculus

I love this guy, he doesn't grade homework, but if you don't do it you're not gonna pass.

Bassant is very caring and gives easy tests that measure overall concept knowledge. He does give extra credit but does not play around. No leaving early. Took for the Precalc and Trig combined course during spring. A LOT OF WORK. Home work is optional but a MUST. Not tough material but it is a lot to take in. Make TIME

He is great t explaining. takes time on lectures to make sure you fully understand. good amount of homework and easy tests. overall good teacher. strict on phones and tardies but is fun to joke with.

Only grades come from maybe 6-7 tests. Has problems for you to do on your own but don't need to hand in or check. Bad grade on test, good luck bringing up. Will say his lectures are more coherent than reading the textbook, make sure you pay attention to all 2 hr and 15 min lecture.

Calculus itself is not an easy class but Professor Basant goes to great lengths to clearly explain the material to try and make it simpler. He does assign homework and it is essential that you do it in order to get a good grade in the class. The test problems are just like the homework, sometimes even the same ones. I would take him again!

I took him for the trigpre calc combo class so based on the material alone it was super tough... but NEVER because of the teacher himself. He was always more than fair and awesome at his job. I also thought it was really cool that he wrote out every problem he was ref from the book so u tech didn't NEED to have one. def my fav class.

Passionate about the class, cracks jokes, listens and explains clearly to students so the class is actually interesting. Must attend class, do the homework & gives extra credit. Don't be on your cell ever! Takes up the whole allotted class time.

Professor Basant is an okay professor. He helps you if you ask questions and is very clear. He cuts no slack . If you want to pass and have a good grade in the class, do the homework and the quizzes. DO NOT miss the deadline because he will not extend it if so and this can terribly harm your grade and it is hard to bring back up.

Professor Basant is a good professor. I took this class during the Summer and because we had to try to cover 16 weeks class in 6 weeks that made it challenging. All the homework is online & it's not that hard. STUDY FOR THE TESTS! THERE'S NO MULTIPLE CHOICE TESTS ONLY FILL IN THE BLANK TESTS. But if you study then you will do fine! I

Precalculus was pretty difficult to teach myself. Nothing against the professor, but the online application wasn't very good at teaching me. The homework is tedious and the tests were moderate in difficulty. I study hard for math classes so I got an A. Still isn't easy though. If you fail the class, it's your fault, not the professors.

Basant is awesome. He's a really funny and friendly guy, and a great professor. He knows his math, and he will break the material down for you. If you need help, he will clarify. I took him for Calc 2 and I don't regret it one bit. Extra credit is offered. Overall WONDERFUL teacher!!

Basant is an awesome professor, very clear and easy to understand. He gives HW points and also extra credit which are the test reviews. He is willing to give you office time but that is not necessary if you pay attention in class and are willing to spend time at home doing the HW (which is the best study guide). I wish he taught every math class!!

Good teacher all in all. Was very responsive with email when needed feedback. Test & quizzes are in mymathlab for online classes. Two test got to be taking a testing center. Other two at home. Easy A as long as you study for test.

Garfield was great. You have to work for your test but he is very clear on what he expects. Do your homework... Pay attention in class and you'll be fine. He's great!

His combo class for trig&precalc is not hard but it's a lot of work. I failed the class because I didn't do all the hw. Make sure that if you take this class you don't take more than 4 classes. You will learn math but it is going to require effort. He is an amazing professor.

Professor Basant was a good professor but if you miss one class it is very hard to catch up. There was a lot of homework but he did offer extra credit. The tests are all fill in answers, no multiple choice, so you have to study if you want to pass.

Basant is definitely the best teacher/professor I've ever had!! He's pretty funny and relatable, believe it or not. Plus, he's really good when it comes to lecture. He really breaks down concepts to very simple forms to ensure the entire class understands. If you need a math credit, do it with this guy.

One should feel extremely lucky to have a professor like Basant for math. Trigonometry in 6 weeks can be really difficult, but he really knows how to break down every concept to make you understand it, plus he is HILARIOUS, I would recommend him for any class!

Good Professor, If you take 1105 online just be sure to do well on the ALL test. You will take 2 test in the testing center and the other 3 at home (final included). Homework and discussions really does not count for much. Just do well on the test and DO EVERYTHING ELSE and you will be fine.

He is very knowledgeable about Math and knows the subject like the back of his hand, which means you never have to question if he knows what he is doing. The course is extremely structured, the entire schedule is given day 1. You do have to do quite a bit of homework on MyMathLab but the due dates are fair and extra credit is offered on every test.

This class was the by far the BEST math class I have ever taken! Basant Garfield not only gave excellent lectures but he taught in a way that anyone could understand. His tests are straight forward and taken from his lectures so just pay attention, do your homework and you WILL succeed!

First semester student here so I may be biased by Basant was one of the best professors I've ever had here. His classes are very example-oriented and his explanations are thorough. You might feel overwhelmed at some points in the semester and he's quick to remind you that this is only the beginning hahaha Very sarcastic in nature, you'll love him.

Love this man. I plan on taking him for Calc 2 & 3 and any other math he teaches. He's very helpful and wants to make sure everyone understands before moving on. His office door is always open if anyone needs help. He takes attendance every class and offers extra credit. The grading is very straightforward.

This professor is great!!! I really liked his classes. He is knowledgeable and accurate. He tells you the class takes effort and time to study. Do not take this class if you work many hours or take many classes. I like Math, and I got an A, but I had to work hard for it.

2nd time taking Prof Basant & it was great. Lectures were clear, example-driven, & he would always clarify if anyone didn't understand. Funny & sarcastic. Online homework was difficult, but it was pass/fail & had some video examples. Graded on tests, online quizzes, & extra credit for practice tests. Always available during office hours for help.

Really knows his material , also explains it so you understand it one on one in front of the class . And get on his good side that way class will be way more fun

Professor Basant is a great professor. His lectures are amazing and he teaches right from the board. Just pay attention and you will pass. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he will answer everyone's question no matter what.

College Precalc is pretty tough. Basant is good about responding to email and he provides good videos and powerpoints to help you study. Also the practice tests are very helpful because they are a lot like the real test. There's a lot of homework and there were a couple weeks where I almost went crazy but other weeks were easier.

Professor Basant has been my favorite math professor. I have taken him for Calc 1&2 and only wish I could've had him for Calc 3. Homework is online and so are the quizzes. His ability to break down concepts and explain them in a way you can understand was very helpful. He goes over lots of examples to help you absorb te information. Don't hesitate!

Mr. Basant is one of the best math teacher i ever been thought by. He as a accent but he gives clear lectures trust me. homework and practice tests are online on my mathlab. Class covers a lot of material so be prepared for a lot of work. there's about 4-5 tests and the final covers your lowest grade. overall i would take his class again.

I had Basant as an online teacher so I don't know how is in class. However, the material I received was easy. He's a little passive aggressive when it comes to emails.

Basant is a great teacher, though I have not seen him in person so I can't give you the heads up on that. The only thing: Check on your grade book at ALL times because there may be a error on his part. I checked on one of my grades and he gave me a C on something that I should have gotten an A for. Overall good class.

honestly the best of the best, even though i was going through some things at the time and math is not my strong suit. i passed and understood what i was being taught. i would take him again in a heart beat.

Basant clearly expresses the material for each lesson and will go back if there's anything you don't understand. Also has an SI available for tutoring 15 minutes after morning classes end.

I was never a math person, hated it, but his teaching helped me tremendously & I never got less than an A- on his test. If you do the work, try your best to understand, & seek help when you need it from him, you will pass no doubt. Easy if you try your best.

I had him for Calc I and II. I excelled in calc I and really struggled in calc II. He's an awesome professor, the best I've had. These are hard classes, you have to work for your grade. He doesn't just give it to you. He's funny at times. Work hard and get help if you need it and you'll be fine. Don't get behind on the material early on.

I am very picky when choosing a math professor, and I was not disappointed. He is always willing to re-explain. If you don't understand, JUST ASK.

The only thing you are provided are powerpoints, which are complex and have a few errors in displaying certain symbols. Mostly used Youtube to teach myself. Have to post and answer 2 questions for every test. First 2 tests are in the testing center, the rest can be taken at home. Easy extra credit. Practice tests are very close to the actual test.

I am not the best student when it comes to math, and his lectures are very good and he gives you many tools to make sure that you will pass, however I dont think id take a class with him again.

best math teacher ever!! Has a very organized schedule and manages his time effectively. Is considerate of his students and will slow down and explain the material. Highly recommended if you are willing to keep up on work and pay attention. (as you should in every math class)

Best calculus professor hands down. Makes you work for the grade but overall is an irreplaceable professor. Has seen me studying many times and has been willing to help me with a few concepts as well as constantly reminding the classroom of his office hours.

One of the best professors I've had. He follows the syllabus & has clear and understandable lectures. He will go back even the most basic of topics to help you understand and will spend a lot of time on students questions. Do the homework, worksheets and practice tests because all the test questions will be from there. Easy A if you do the work.

Amazing professor for Calc 1. Tests are based on the homework and test reviews. Teaches everything you'll need to know for the tests. Goes over the homework at the beginning of class. Lets you use a graphing calculator. And offers opportunities for extra credit. I wish I could take him for Calc 2 this summer.

Great online professor! 5 tests (2 must be taken in the testing center) and a final but the final is optional! homework (mymathlab), and HW discussion. Sounds like a lot of work but it's all fairly easy if you put in your time. Would recommend him to anyone!

Professor Basant is one of the best professors I have ever had! He will teach you everything you need to know for the test and follows the syllabus. The book is mandatory. I wouldn't recommend skipping class. He's a funny guy so if you take him for a long class that's over two hours he will make it entertaining.

Overall great class. Prof Basant is strict on things being done a particular way, but once the directions are followed. there are no issues. Practice tests are almost identical to actual tests, discussions and homework aren't bad. Have good self discipline and you'll have an A. Amazing extra credit opportunities. Survey is not that scary online!

Professor Basant is by far the BEST math teacher this school has to offer. He is available almost any time you need him and he will help you if you ask. MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND EVERY CLASS! Calculus is challenging and he makes it as easy as he can but if you don't practice and do all the homework, quizzes, and practice tests then you will not pass!

Professor Basant is so great! I took him for precalc online and it was a fairly easy class. 2 out of the 5 tests had to be taken in the testing center and I didn't do well on those but I still passed with an A! Don't worry if you don't do well on the first two tests, the HW, discussions and the rest of the tests will help your grade! :)

it was an ok class a lot of hw but it helps you prepare for quizes and tests. 2 test in the learning center and the others you can do at home.

This class can be challenging if you are not willing to do the work. His lectures are easy to understand. He is always willing to help you during his office hours, which are almost everyday. There is lots of homework since its 2 classes in one. 9 test total plus the final & 25pts extra credit. Best math professor in PBSC!!

Professor Basant is great. I was TERRIFIED of taking this online and during summer, but it really was not bad at all. Daily work is necessary to not fall behind but instructions and power points are very clear. MathLab has the e-book, so no need for the actual text book. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS! They're extra credit, and resemble the real tests!

Took this over the summer which made the class a little more difficult; tests every other week w/quizzes in between. 2 tests taken in testing center so the others can be done at home using notes, etc. Everything is thru mymathlab which i personally hate but its whatever

If you're here, its because you don't know what math teacher to take. Pick Professor Basant now. He is a brilliant and funny teacher. Reviews everything that will be on the test, and is very nice. He will always take the time to completely answer any questions you have about any problems. Show up, pay attention, take good notes, you pass for sure.

IF you take him online you do have to do a lot of teaching yourself. If you get the book and use the "show me an example" feature on mymathlab you should be set! He is a great teacher. His lectures online sometimes dont feel like enough but mymathlab helps! You do have to put the work in but plenty of extra credit. You can easily get an A.

Took his class online and honestly it was the best decision I made. As any class for math, you will have to study, but the math lab helps so much. Also, he doesn't surprise you what's going to be on the test. He gives you practice test before any exam with similar questions to be fully prepared. I work full time & have 3 other classes and got an A

He's a good teacher. Willing to explain anything that you dont understand. Always willing to help during office hours. MUST GO TO CLASS. I missed a lot of class but I still manage to pass because I put in a lot of effort and communicated with him. He's got jokes tho. lol But overall he's a good teacher.

He is one of the best math teachers Ive ever had. He makes sure you can get extra credit on the tests just Incase your struggling and gives study guides. No need to participate by raising your hand and what not just do the worksheets he gives you (always hands out 30mins before class ends so you can get extra help.

Prof. gives great lectures and is easy to understand. MyMathlab helps me a lot and the test is very similar to the practice test seen on it. It is easy to fall behind if you miss the homework. If you can get an A on the math lab practice test, it will be the same for the real test in class.

This is the first time I can say that I've really enjoyed a math class. Prof. Basant's lecture videos are very clear and easy to understand; the course is laid out in a very linear fashion in which each concept builds on the previous one. He responded fairly quickly to emails and was always helpful. Great professor; would take again!

Prof Basant cares about whether his students pass or fail he is a really good math professor he really helps you if you are struggling attendance is mandatory do not be late to his class ! Pay attention to his lectures and you will do just fine (:

I only used MyMathLab & never used his materials or asked him for help understanding anything, & still got an A. He takes a while to respond to emails, and sometimes forgets completely. I learn math better on my own, so if you need help from a prof., keep that in mind. He offers up to 30 XC pts. Use MML and review the problems, & you will do fine.

I loved this professor, he's one reason why I love math, this was an easy "A" he's nota tuff grader but it's not good to miss his class at all. Great teacher!

AMAZING online experience. Professor Basant has the class laid out perfectly. Im not the best in math and was very worried about Calc. I did not take pre-calc and still passed with 102% in the class. He drops the lowest test and the pre test reflects the actual tests. I recommend taking his class.

This man is sent from heaven! I took his remote class for the spring term and had an amazing experience. He spent a lot of time to go over the hw, and imagine this: classwork, hw, quizzes, and tests are all similar. Even the practice test (extra credit) reflects the actual test. TAKE HIS CLASS. You won't regret it!! :)

All the work is done through MyMathLab plus discussion posts. Professor Basant makes the class extremely easy to follow and lots of opportunities for extra credit.

There's a not that much homework and he made the class pretty easy

Amazing profesor, everything is through my math lab and a few discussion posts. The hw really helps you review for the test and so much extra credit opportunity. Besides the PowerPoint lessons practice will get you an A and completing all assignments. Loved this class, straightforward, wasnt overwhelming. Definitely recommend.

nice prof, textbook comes with pearson, 5 quizzes and 6 tests (lowest test dropped) the quizzes and tests are timed and he gives out ec if you take the practice tests. gives out full credit for homework/ec if you get 70% or higher. lockdown brower on test and quizzes but doesn't record your face so you can use mathway

I was very nervous coming into this class. Math was never my strong point. But, this professor made what I thought would be my hardest math class, one of the easiest I have taken in years. Homework really enforces the material, and practice tests are very helpful, and they are extra credit. Highly recommend this professor.

I am scared of math, but this online course was an easy A (if you do the work). Take the practice tests, as the types of problems on them are identical to the types that are on the tests!!! MyMathLab allows you to redo the homework assignments until you get 100%. 15+ hours per week homework, but I'm so glad I took this course online with this prof.

One of the best mathematics professors on campus. His grading criteria are crystal clear and he offers 5 extra credit points on every test. The best part is that the final cumulative exam is optional! He's brilliant and gives clear and easy-to-follow lectures. He's got a sense of humor and is very personable. I would take him again in a heartbeat!

He is a great teacher. He explains things very well and answers any questions you may have. His grade is heavily reliant on tests but you get extra credit opportunities on every test if you do well enough on the practice tests and the final is optional! He also uses Mymathlab which is very helpful.

REQUIRES Pearson access.Thats where you'll do the homework and quizzes and the test, This is not easy but is very than with a Camera. Take this class and put in the work

Calc with Geometry is overall a tough class, but with a lot of studying, you will do well! He goes kinda fast, but it's because there is so much material to cover. If you do and fully understand all the homework and practice test, you will get an A. He is a tough grader, but he is more than fair and the tests mimic the homework and practice test.

Calc 2 is challenging, but staying on top of the homework and practice tests can lead to success. The tests mimic the assignments, so unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for study prep. Professor is fair, but strict - give it your all!

He posted videos that I used to learn the material, but overall, the class was very easy. He offers a lot of extra credit, but please note that for the first 2 tests and last test he makes you go in person. Also, he drops the lowest test grade. The class is easy other than the practice tests which take forever, but are only for extra credit.

2233 is not hard since you're not dealing with Trig functions. This class has been the easiest compared to 1033 and 1105. However, this is just my perspective, as half the class had dropped out by mid-semester. Strong Algebra manipulation is strongly needed, trust me. The professor provides extra credit opportunities and resources for study. GL.
