Really easy class. Class is totally taught via lecture slides. The same exact slides are put up on his website. No one ever went to class!!! I took him twice. You have to go to discussion section (boring lectures), but that is a small price to pay.

tests were straight off the lecture notes which were posted online. great class to take if you are good at memorizing.

Like they said, typical prof. Kinda boring especially in the morning. Tries to be funny but no one laffs.. how sad =(.. He sighs a lot, makes me feel like i couldn't breathe or something..

Lecture can be boring but its not that bad...lectures off of power point slides that he posts online. Drops the lowest midterm score...tests are pretty easy and he gives a lot of bonus/freebie points. No homework except reading which isnt mandated.

Lecture is ok, he wanders off the subject a lot which takes up time. Bonus points galore. Curve is nice too, tests are hard.

such a good class...ok he may not be funny and he may start to ramble a bit BUT the class is super easy, he makes fat curves adn test questions come right from the notes. TAKE THE CLASS

first midterm was cake, but the final was very hard. dont need to buy the book, most of material is out of lecture. make sure you go to class to get bonus points, the bonus points hook you up big time!

The 1st midterm was cake, but the final killed me. Go to the lectures and read the book, his tests are very unpredictable. Received worst college grade yet.

i wasn't officially enrolled in the class but it seemed pretty easy. tries to joke around in class to keep the people interested. he has some pretty interesting facts though. tests are relatively easy if you study and the curve is helpful. good professor.

He's not as bad as some people say. Can give really boring lectures, but is organized. Exams are easy, just memorize lecture notes. Go to lecture, even if you sit there and do the crossword - there's always a chance of a bonus quiz. He's sort of funny!

lectures are boring, tests are hard, but the teacher is really organized. he's funny, nice, makes a lot of alcohol and weed jokes. go to class and get bonus points! open notes, open partner, open book bonus quizes! go to discussion to help attendance!

class is easy if u love the huge curve. very difficult tests, boring class

very easy, pretty entertaining, really nice guy, makes lecture interesting and encourages class participation, very clear on what's expected, gives u extra credit opportunities

i had him for ecn 1b and i thought he was so much better there. his essay questions were very hard and for the short answers, you basically have to memorize the lecture slide word for word. the curve did help me though. go to class and try to be the first to catch his mistakes. that will help a bit.

Professor is always willing to stay after class for questions. Covers difficult issues with personal experiences and relates the material to our lives. The tests are straightforward out of the lecture or text. I would take this professor again.

Lectures are clear and follow the text. Anyone who doesn't do well in this class is an idiot or can't read. Lectures are always posted so you can miss a clas and not fall behind.

This is my third class with him. The two midterms were relatively easy but the final was crazy. It totally threw me off guard. I went into the final with an A+, got a C on the final so my final grade was an A-. Brinkley is a pretty nice guy and tries to be helpful but he does get off topic sometimes. It's pretty easy to get a good grade.

I found the class pretty boring but he follows the text pretty well. I liked that his tests didn't consist of much graphs and calculations. His tests are easy,as long as you read through his lecture notes.

Best professor I have had. Lectures are posted and he is funny and interesting. He makes you think. Don't talk this professor if you can't stand the truth or have to think - you will hate it, but if you are here for an education, don;t miss out.

Excellent teacher. He posts the lectures notes on line so it is easy to take notes and study. He is funny and easy to talk to. This is the third class I have had from him and have done well in eachone.

Great Professor. This is the 5th class I have taken from Professor Brinkley and wish there were more. His lectures are clear and interesting and he tells some subtle jokes. He gives bonus points and bonus quizzes and is there if you need him.

This class was great. The professor taught us how to use the stuff we learned to save a lot of money. I just bought a house and saved over $30K. He was great and answered all my questions. I wish I had taken him before and taken more of his classes. He is clear and funny and gives bonus points.

Great professor. Great class. Took a test today and it was just what I expected. The material was easy as long as you went to lecture and read the book. Everythinbg is clear and interesting.

Great teacher - great discussions. He makes you think. Tests are so so. Go to lectures and read the book to do well on the tests. I would take him again if I could but I am graduating, Yah hoo.

In a word, UNDER-RATED, the cat is old school, he brings it, come on his name is Garland, how could you not, if students dont get him its because they are too hip, his humor is suttle but striking, probably over most the heads of those who said he is boring. Class very interesting and important.

This class is easy if I wasnt taking BIS 1A and CHEM 118A with it. I got a B- but only studied before 1 midterm and before the final. If you study the slides on a continuous basis, you should get an A. Who cares if he's easy, econ is a BS major anyways. You're just paying 4 years of tuition to get a piece of paper signed by the govenator.

Outstanding class. Prof was funny and very clear with the materials. Didn't just follow the booka nd brought in a lot of outside material. If you keep up with your reading, you wil do great.

This class has lots of information outside of the book. Tests are reasonable and TA's are somewhat helpful though i found mine to be a waste of time. Overall a good class to take.

Fantastic Professor. Great class, everything I need to know about making money and getting rich. Take this prof if you can. Very interesting and funny.

Professor goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with the test but is somewhat interesting. Tries a little hard to be funny. Study the practice test and pay attention to subtle cues that he gives out during lecture as to what will be on the test. Go to lecture for bonus quizes and check website frequently for "freebies" to the test. Read book

Brinkley is absolutely the BEST professor I have ever had at UC Davis. It's true that he may be a bit difficult, however, the amount of valuable knowledge you gain from this class is endless. He might seem mean at first, but if you get to know him, he's really a nice guy. He even offers endless extra credit if you JUST ATTEND CLASS.I got 28 pts EC!

Brinkley is my fave professor. Tests are fair and you'll get an A if you review the lecture slides. Curves very generously, drops lowest midterm score, and offers many opportunities for bonus points. He has a great sense of humor and is very approachable. He cares about his students.

Great class. I took this same class and the lectures were interesting and you didn't have to go. He posts everything so no need to show up. The tests were fair. I wil ltake him again.

Best Prof in Econ. The lectures are clear and availible. Tests are exactly what he says they are adnnsamples are put out. Interesting lecture - he likes the material and wants you to learn. I am taking him again. He is enthusiastic and funny.

Best economics professor. His lectures are interesting, he has a really good sense of humor and he is generous on his exams. HIghly recommended.

Go to every class because he gives out these "bonus quizzes" which are basically extra credit. His tests are ridiculous in that you basically just memorize the lecture slides. The book is almost irrelevant. He has this subtle, dry humor that you get used to in the end. Overall, pretty interesting professor but know how to study for his tests.

I'd highly recommend him. He made a lot of jokes that no one got, but the fact that he kept making jokes cracked me up. Very engaging. Especially since my class was at 6:10 twice a week. Those bonus quizzes saved my life!

Memorize his lecture notes and you'll be fine. You know exactly what you need to do to excel, so that makes it easy. I took two ECON classes from him and got A's in both...
