Old, Bald, Boring ZzzzZzz, Can't teach, DROP IMMEDIATELY!!!!
hopeless ..... drop him!!! .. or u flunk ..... get ha or something...

he knows his stuff. just boring. cure for insomnia
Very vague in trying to explain clear solutions to problems.
go to a different section, or your ****ed!
Good Professor, interesting, I've found him helpful and esaygoing
Not a bad teacher, Nice enough guy.
nice guy, ok teacher, but talks too softly for big lecture halls
one of my best profs
zzzzzzzzzzzz
Nice guy. More helpful if you ask for one-on-one help
One of my favourite profs so far.
the most unclear and boring prof ever.
Ord, Ord, Ord I'm already bored... his MTH510 class made me reflect if I wanted to be an engineer quite frankly, so decided not to go to his class and realized the book was way a better prof. and more graceful... he should retire already seriuosly.
Terrible
best calc prof

This guy is the reason I left engineering forever. I had him for Numerical Analysis. I bought the $100 calculator and never got around to using it. Do not take this guy, his classes are useless and on one on one, he's no help either. Take my advice, leave engineering.
He's a very good teacher. Sure, It's pretty common to have a few people sleep through his class, but Calculus isn't that fun to begin with.At some point i stopped taking notes though, the book was easier to follow. Ask for 1-on-1 help...and be warned, the TA's are garbage.
he talks directly into the blackboard, and then his voice gets lower and lower and lower
Good teacher, gives detailed notes and examples. Exam covers useless things and does not reflect most of the material. 25%-50% of exam based on true-false, and concept check questions, and use a lot of algebraic manipulation not done in hw questions.
What's with all the negative comments? This prof was great! Explanations were crystal clear, made sure everyone who asked a question understand everything fully, excellent one-on-one help, stayed 30 minutes after class with me, even helped me with ELE stuff. Didn't need the textbook at all, where's all this bad feedback coming from? Ord is great.
ok from the personality point of view he is great he is cool and caring but from the teaching point of view he is not so good. and I don't blame him becouse he teachs probability.
Good 1 to 1 but horrid teacher.
Did not enjoy that class.
As far as MTH514 is concerned he is very helpful and cooperative..plz avoid any other prof cause if you want to pass MTH514 register to this guy's class.
Not bad, although I got lost towards the very end of the course. Overall, a decent professor.
Shows no mercy for the facebook addicted idiots! Very clear.
Definitely deserves at least a 3 rating
Absolutely ruthless. Terrible professor. Biweekly assignments which the questions are taken out of the textbook. He has markers grade the assignments and midterms and are very inconsistent. Average on midterms were low 50s. No bell curve.
Teaches from the textbook, makes exams incredibly harder. Talks to the board.
Very hard prof. Makes the final as hard as possible. Don't take his class, you will regret it.
Terrible instructor. Horrible with course management and hours. Dependence on textbook leaves one wondering why he's an instructor.
Writes on the board for the entire lecture. Very hard to follow what he is doing when you have to constantly write. I suggest just paying attention instead of writing notes and review the (summarized) posted notes. There are 5 group assignments and exams are completely fair if you do them. DO THE ASSIGNMENTS OR YOU WILL DO TERRIBLE ON EXAMS!
terrible prof, doesn't teach well. expects too much from students and puts hard tests
Lectures are spent mostly on the basic things. Better to learn off the textbook instead, since he was usually behind from the lab questions.
Amazing Prof. Teaches really well. I learned the probability of me failing this course.
interesting material but majority of class did poorly on exams. lab & TA were useless
Will show you the code for 0.1 seconds in class and spends majority of time discussing theory portion where nearly everything is evaluated based on code. The TA will NOT DO ANYTHING during the labs and leave you to be on your own. May as well not go to the labs other than to write the occasional quiz or submit assignments, otherwise its a waste.
Can be monotonous at times, but explains clearly and at a steady pace. He is very helpful one to one and will easily clarify any doubts about the material. Tests are hard though. I found that drinking coffee and reading the textbook ahead of time really helped.
Wow just wow. This guy doesn't post anything except skeleton notes and he goes through the material so fast / messy in class that you don't even have time to write numerical answers down, yet he doesn't 'believe' in posting finished notes. The tutorials are joke, they're ahead of the lecture and the TA gives Quiz problems that aren't from the labs.
Horrible. Just horrible. Gives really really really hard finals. Especially the one we got. Such a hard final and expects us to solve those problems. This course is hard and requires a lot of thinking and not memeroization. On top of that, you have a really bad professor wit a TOUGH marking scheme. 0 marks if you make a little small mistake.. No jk
Lecture of 250 students fell to maybe 1/10th the size in the first few weeks because of his awful and confusing teaching. Textbook is your teacher. Doesn't post complete notes online, otherwise students won't show up to lecture (CLEARLY not working). Fairly easy midterm. Difficult final. Course content gets abstract/elusive near the end.
The only thing positive I would say is that he is friendly one-to-one. Other than that, he is quite possibly the WORST Math professor I ever had. Terrible notes, extremely tough exams and grading, speaks in a dry tone and HAS A MASSIVE PRIDE ISSUE!!! He thinks that just because he is a professor means he can arrogantly show off how much he knows.
Wanted to kms the whole semester because of his teaching. Very nice IRL tho and is good for 1 on 1 help.
Such a selfish, arrogant excuse of a man. "Please study hard, we don't want to see you again"; he clearly does not know how to end a course with humility and respect.
His lectures are basically reading off the slides and explaining the solution of problems rather than solving them. Examples solved in class are very simple and straight forward. Exam question are unnecessarily hard with very trivial wording. Going to lectures is pointless as you will learn nothing. Class average below 50% and wonders why ?!
By far, one of the worst professors I ever had. He only reads off his notes and makes little to no effort in explaining the concepts for understanding which really defeats the purpose. For that reason, very few people show up to class.
Only reads off slides, doesn't give warnings before closing poll questions during lectures, doesn't bother repeating for students and makes no effort to make lectures engaging.
I never rated any of my profs before but I made it my duty to rate Garnet Ord because of how unfair he is. He seems like he understands the course but only reads off the slides and presents impossible clicker questions right after.
Does not do any actual teaching or solve example problems, just reads off his slides. Videos associated with the textbook are better sources of instruction than listening to him speak, as he overcomplicates material and rushes through it. Gives quizzes on material learned seconds prior or not at all on Top Hat for marks. Overall terrible, avoid
Just reads off slides, doesn't even try to explain concepts properly or make sure students understand. Forced to attend lectures because of in-class quizzes. No charisma, just a monotone voice reading the slides. Learned more in the 1 hour lab than in the 3 hours of lectures.
He reads off his slides, and doesn't do examples with you and show steps. He gives pop quiz questions that aren't even taught. Like you'd learn the content of the pop quizzes after the quiz is done in the next or following class.
Would avoid at all cost, would recommend anyone at all over him. Avoid this guy like the plague. Asking questions he will try to show authority and make you feel less, he is a little bit of a show off.
I don't think I've encountered a worse math instructor in my life, if we'll call him an instructor to begin with. He quizzes us on things that haven't yet been taught, and proceeds to teach that material after quizzing us, which makes no sense. Really thinks of himself too highly which comes off as arrogant to his students. Just avoid if you can.
If you have a choice, please don't choose this prof. Reads of slides and calls it teaching. Changed the weight of the in-class quizzes because the minority of the class complained, a whole month into the semester. Runs away when confronted and made us pay $30 for software where we can't talk to him and have to type in chat which he ignores anyways.
He is the worst professor I have ever had at Ryerson. Literally reads off the slides. No teaching whatsoever. Ignores students' questions when they are inconvenient for him, and teaches in a very monotonic, non-engaging manner. I basically paid $1100 to watch him read some powerpoint slides and then go teach myself the whole course. DON'T PICK HIM.
Do not take this prof ever. Worst ever person. He will teach you by the rules that would make your life really hard. Avoid him at all costs.
Junk lectures. I can read off the slides myself except the slides are also junk. The in lecture quizzes are ridiculous and most people just guess them. He doesn't explain them properly after or does enough examples. The lab quizzes have nothing to do with textbook homework so don't even waste your time. Overall I do not reccomend him to anyone.
Boring lectures, only reads off the slides. Worst prof I've ever had.
Look, I don't know if it was because of online classes, but this man legitimately read off of his slides and that was it. Like everything they ever tell you not to do in any class about presentations, he did. He read off mathematical equations like they were an essay reading, and then gave us a quiz on stuff that had nothing to do with the slides.
Switch out before it gets bad
worst online class ever
Probably the worst communicative teacher I have ever had in my life. Got switched out early from actually teaching us cause so many students complained but continued to make our lives miserable by writing the midterm and exams
Didnt actually teach lecture, got another professor to teach us. Changed the course outline in the middle of semester, but all the weight on final. Very bad prof
Horrible prof never replied to emails and was kicked out by the students after week 2 and replaced by a much much math better prof.
poor communication with students, it felt like everyone for themselves and the main goal is to survive
One of the worst professors I've had to deal with yet. He doesn't reply to emails, he doesn't help students, his lectures are terrible, and he doesn't know how to manage a course. For some odd reason, he sticks to Top Hat. Top Hat mainly focuses on multiple-choice question tests. It scrambles answers in a way that makes it impossible to read.
He reads off the slides and doesnt do any examples at all and if it werent for Majed, definitely wouldve failed this class.
couldve been lenient with the amount of time given for the evaluations. poor communication with students. the few lecs he did in the beginning of the sem before majed took over were far too theory heavy for a math course. and just reading off the slides doesn't help. Tophat for math? multiplechoice tests, no part marks and cumltive final x_x
Absolutely awful Prof. He chose some paid program (Tophat, which does nothing Zoom/D2L can't already) which overheated computers, and quizzes/tests he created had you solve PARTS of the question in MC FORMAT, not working the whole thing & getting part marks at the least (as Calc should be). Should never coordinate another course.
Get ready to pay a subscription fee to use the websites he uses for lectures and testing. Lectures are not interesting and not the math is not explained in simple terms. He does not provide powerpoints for after class reading. He does not provide external resources other than the textbook.
Mr. ord has - unnecessarily- made this course 10 times harder than it was supposed to be. the tests/exams format is absolutely disgusting. takes everything personally and communication is not a word in his dictionary. TAs, multiple times, told students that the department does not reply to emails on purpose.
He was so bad, the students in MTH425 bullied him out of his online lecture. He replaced himself with a much better prof in the middle of his lecture. Unfortunately he was the course coordinator, so all questions we had about technical difficulties had to go through him. Guess what? he never replied to emails :) hope he's not your online prof
The way he made the midterm and final really hurts my gpa.
For the lectures he did do (before we made else teach), they were terrible. Literally just read slide after slide of theory with no enthusiasm or attempt to clear it up. Extremely monotonous, makes the content even more boring than it is. On top of this, he never replies to emails and makes us use a paid for service even tho its garbage.
This professor is the worst of them all. Does not reply to emails purposely and makes up bogus excuses as to why he is moving the weighting of the assessments in the middle of a semester. Gave up teaching us and made someone else do the lectures instead.
Never responds to emails. Left class 1st 2 weeks cuz no 1 liked his teaching. Made exams way harder and used the worst platform of all time, TopHat.
maybe one day he'll stop talking about the theory behind math and actually teach us how to use it. maybe next semester. or not.
The worst prof at Ryerson!! He just reads off the slides and makes the hardest exams. He makes us pay for the top hat which is the most useless platform for testing someone's knowledge.
he is the worst proff ever. made us pay for TopHat which is useless even tho he could use university quizzes.
Reads derivations of lecture notes goes extremely fast completely useless
Just dont bother going to his class. He quizzes you on stuff you haven't even learnt. There is a ta named ali who is censoring everyone in the class, and restricting our need to ask questions and such. I remember asking a valid question, and Ali ridiculed me saying its trivial when the entire class was lost.
Terrible prof. Constantly ignores student emails. Class lectures are just him reading off the slides and not explaining examples. The only reason why I attended classes were for the dumb quizzes(worth marks) which were on topic we haven't even got a chance to learn. Use the textbook, literally will be your best friend.
Worst prof at Ryerson
He just reads the slides and doesn't provide any meaningful elaboration on the concepts which leaves you with lots of work to learn it by yourself. He gives off the feeling that he thinks he's better than you and sounds like he has no interest in the subject. The only redeeming factor was that the midterm and final exam were not bad.
Not a good time.
His slides are helpful and the textbook is free. His course notes are almost like a textbook of their own which shows his dedication. Other than paying for Tophat I had no problems. He was approachable in the office hours. If you do your work, lab quizzes and in-class quizzes will still be a bit tricky but midterm and exam are pretty reasonable.
This guy was amazing, these engineering kids always give him a harsh review because the course isnt engineering oriented but in reality the quizzes and tests require you to use engineering skills and thinking that are outside of the box, you will pass if you made it through kindergarten, If You understand the fundamentals of shapes and patterns
This course needs a complete overhaul. Frankly, Garnet Ord is not the right man for the job. It could have been taught by a professor who is more enthusiastic and can actively engage the aufience like a coach.
Honestly, I'm blessed that I took this class online. I would've failed hard otherwise. Didn't really learn much, and the examples given are extremely vague. Prof is knowledgeable, but conveys the information in a poor manner. Pop quizzes are hard. I would advise you to find practice questions outside the course material (textbook), YouTube
it's better not to take this course when he is teaching
What a complete waste of potential! He seems to be out of touch with the modern world. This course could have been taught by any other math prof at Ryerson.
To be honest, the course material is interesting if you learn it yourself, and it's a nice break from all the other engineering heavy courses. BUT, that being said, why is he getting paid to read off slides? Just try and avoid this man when you take this course because he's honestly no good at ANYTHING.
You will end up self learning the course.
HE CAN'T TEACH!!!
his lessons are boring and the bi-weekly assignments take more than multiple hours to complete.
Unfortunately I also didn't have a good experience with him. I'm very frustrated about it because I put a lot of effort on learning this course. I found the final exam very hard and not matching the level of the assignments.
Only recites whats on the slides, does not elaborate on any formulae or techniques being used in derivations or solutions, usually just underlines words as if it helps with understanding. Do not rely on this prof, do the homework, read the textbook, and absolutely go to the labs because that is where you will actually learn.
He is the worst prof I've had in 3.5 years now. Going to his classes are worse than not going at all. He doesn't actually try to teach well so it's obvious he doesn't care about teaching.
Kanye made graduation despite his BS. What has this guy done with his BS?? Idk how he expects ppl to do good when he doesnt even provide solutions. He should just retire hes getting too old.
To the man who declared that he will come back, I expect him to go off. He is my idol for a reason. He is the chosen one. He will be the greatest engineer to EVER come out of this university. Make. No. Mistake.
As Rick Astley once said "always give up, always let yourself down". He gives no part marks what so ever and even takes away 3 marks cause he feels like it. You not only play with probability in this course but also with your precious time. To the person who said they will not give up, I salute you, you are an inspiration to me and everyone else.
The material is kind of tricky so the textbook and YouTube is good. The professor just reads off slides, and doesn't teach. The quizzes, midterms, and exams are fair game. If you nail the quiz stuff, the final is a breeze. They stayed for more lectures, since they loved his coin-flipping in the first one. Don't get baited.
Professor Ord's lectures mainly consist of him reading off slides, so they are not very helpful. The textbook is your best friend for this course, make sure to read it and try to solve many practice problems on your own. The weekly quizzes are a good way to ensure you stay caught up with content and they prepare you well for the midterm and exam.
They read off of the sildes too much and the lab quizes werent always based on that weeks lab.
GUYS I DID IT I PASSED I MADE THE VOW AND I PASSED. SHOUTOUT TO THE GUY WHO BELIEVED IN ME AND IDOLIZED ME. THANK YOU TO ALL. THIS PROF CANNOT TEACH PLEASE AVOID IF POSSIBLE
Congrats big homie on the bottom for passing with this guy. Geniunely don't know how y'all did it with this man, he cannot teach at all dawg lmfao. But yeah, imma go work on "sKeTcHiNg ThE sAmPlE sPaCe" sh-, i can't say the word y'all know what i mean. All love tho, G.O., but u aint a teacha, u a reacha.
The midterm was hard but the final exam was fair.
Professor Ord's lectures are mostly slide-reading, but the textbook and unstuckstudy are super helpful for staying on top of the tricky material. Nail the quizzes and the final is a breeze. Not the most engaging teacher, but passing is doable with dedication.
