He is the best professor I've had in Math so far. He explains everything in great detail, and in a way that it's very easy to understand. I would recommend him to everyone.
he's not one of those math teachers that explains things in the same way over & over again. he's interested in helping his students understand the concepts, but u'll have to be willing to do the work.
Garrett is an absolutely amazing teacher! He doesn't stand for laziness, but is always more than willing to help you.As long as u don't slack off and come to class, you'll be fine.He makes u understand math like no other! He's the ultimate math magician=)
Gregor's very easy to understand, easy to talk and ask questions to. He has a good sense of humor but won't stand for lazyness. He collects the HW so it helped my grade. Just take the notes he writes and pay attention and you'll definatly pass!!
Very excellant math teacher. Really interested in the students and helping them learn. Teaching style is clear, organized, interesting, and very helpful. Requires you to turn in homework every day. Helped me because it kept me from procastinating but I can see how others might not appreciate it.

gg is a math geek who happens to be brilliant in teaching it. that is all i can say.
He is a funny teacher. The humor he adds to his class lessons makes it easier to understand the homework and test question. He's awesome!
Mr. Gregor is the best thing to ever happen to math. He's a genius. He's funny. He understands. Take him or nothing.

Awesome teacher! You definitely have to work for your grade in this class but you will come out with a solid foundation in mathematics if you do the work. Helpful, funny, and knowledgeable. Not bad looking either.
Great teacher! Very clear, engaging, entertaining, and helpful. The drawback is that his tests are really hard.
I agree that Gregor was very...well gregarious, but on the other hand his homework standards were very unrealistic. I think he would have done well to try the homework himself and realize what he was asking the students to do. Be prepared for three hours work each night!
He's a super nice guy who's really funny for a geek. However you will be doing atleast 2 hours of hw a night and you have to stay on top of things! If you're not that good at math like me, I recommend taking the slower course.
Gregor is a great teacher... wrote the book on "Algebra for Dummies", figuratively speaking. Tests are challenging, but if you attend class and pay attention, a B is easy.
The best math teacher I've ever had.
GG rocks. Whether a geek or not, he is a gifted math teacher. Good, albeit off-color, sense of humor. True, he is hot is his unique way.
garret is scarey at first you think wow is this guy anal or what and then it hits you he is so funny it that you really want to come just to hear him talk. he explains math like no one else can you know that relationship you judge all others by he is that to teaching once you've had garret you won't want anyone else. he is geek sheek really hot!!!!
if there's any class @ clark worth video-taping, that would be garrett's. u see the whole picture now. need i say more?
his class are worth video-taping. that's how good he is! need i say more?
The best math instructor I've ever had. Very clear, takes the time to explain concepts students are not understanding, explains WHY, not just how, and manages to be entertaining in the process.
Great teacher. Hope to take him for future math classes. And, yeah... cute. Someone below described him as "geek sheek", which is true, except for the spelling: try "geek CHIC" ;)
Very good teacher. But you really got to study for the weekly quizes. Very helpful, and understanding.
Very good instructor. His teachings are very clear. He is picky on his tests, but as long as you go to class do homework and study for tests you should be fine.
A very good teacher BUT very demanding & anal about how you submit work i.e must be on graph paper, must write out all instructions for each set and entire word problems. Class requires much memorization of trig rules. Weekly quizes, Hard tests without note cards. Seems to care about students & explains things inclass well. Hot - like N Dynamite!
Very good teacher...taugh very clearly and is concerned about how well his students do. Was a little picky on the tests, and has you turn in homework every day...but i would deffinatley take him for future math classes.
The best Math teacher at Clark College! He's demanding, so don't slack off, but if you desire a professor that cares, is energetic, answers all questions, and explains concepts very well... you want Gregor. Seriously. Weekly quizzes 40% of grade. Daily homework (usually odds). Tests: Midterm and Final. Once you go Gregor, you'll never go back!
Very helpful, though his classes are definitely not easy! If you are a hardworking student that doesn't mind studying (a LOT), then you'll do very well. Also, attendance is definitely mandatory.
makes you write the problems and trys to be a hard nose teacher
Good teacher, but tough. I took his class not knowing anything about trig, and now i am competent in it, so he definately did his job well. However, his tests are very difficult and should be taken very seriosly. Take this teacher if you want to learn. A tough but good teacher. Some think he's funny, but the funny thing is he thinks he's funny. lol
Really funny, keeps things lively. He's nice and a great teacher. Study for the weekly quizes though.
Math is not my favorite or strongest subject but I loved this class. Garrett is an incredible teacher who cares and works hard to help his students learn. He's funny and I'd have to agree with another student's feedback....Geek Chic.
Garrett is the best math instructor I have ever had. He made concepts applicable and very understandable. He has a great teaching style! He may be considered a "hard" instructor, but only because he wants you to succeed. I had him for two consecutive courses because he is awesome. If I could i would take him again. I recommend him to anyone!!
Coolest math teacher hands down! The guy is a rock star. He walks in to class everyday like a complete stud. Funny, nice, brilliant, down to earth, and frankly, he may be the best teacher I have ever had. I have two man crushes, Mathew McConoghy and Garret Gregor!!
best math professor ever! very clear! will no doubt take him again in the future if i have the chance.
This Guy is amazing. Probably the only living person that makes the whole class laugh when explaining functions. If you did the homework, you'll pass the test. BTW, he doesn't have a beard anymore.
Gregor is incredible. He is very humorous, and always thinks of some kind of creative way to teach... even if it is logarithms. If you do not listen in class, do not expect to get anywhere in this class.
Gregor is very good at communicating math concepts and genuinely cares about his students. Unfortunately, he requires far too much homework. I got an A on all of his tests and understood the material well, but I still earned a poor grade because I didn't have time for homework. A professor at this level shouldn't be holding students hands this much
Prof. Gregor is a reasonably good instructor. He makes it crystal clear *how* to do things. However, he doesn't seem interested in developing students' deeper understanding of the *why*. Also, his homework policy is unreasonable for this level of math - the quantity is normal, but he collects it all and insists on specific format and presentation.
He is an awesome teacher. He was very helpful and I wish I could have him every math class.
Awesome Teacher :-)
This was a great class, he is very clear and helpful. Although if you are a student athelete don't take him, I had to miss a game for a quiz. Couldn't take it in advance, no exceptions.
Objectively best instructor I've ever had, knows hist stuff and makes math interesting. If you have a chance to take his class don't miss it. :)
He is humurous but displays the flexibility of a robot. Learning the material is irrelevant. If you don't jump through his MANY tedious hoops you will not do well. 10 minutes to learn the material - 3 hours to tediously fill out the homework that isn't even corrected. Control freaks should teach inmates not self governing adults.
I'll admit, he's a pretty humorous dude. However, that's about the only "fun" thing about his course. The quizzes are often nothing like the homework. Also, you learn the material within an extremely limited timespan, and are given little clarity.
Second worst teacher i have had since i started at clark in 2009. The last two comments aree correct. He uses humor at times, just to kinda make his point more blatant (that he is right and you are wrong). He made a fool out of one girl in my class. not a nice guy, hardly a flexible teacher at all. the robot comment is totally suiting.
I've always been very good at math and have been able to teach myself. This quarter when I've had questions and didn't understand something, Gregor would tell me he didn't have time and that's what the study help sessions were for. All of my quizzes were so much harder or things that weren't covered in class. I wouldn't recommend this teacher
Awesome teacher! Gotta be there and do the work. By the way, plan for 3 hours of homework for each class. I'd rather get a B with him than an A somewhere else. Half the class shows up 20 minutes before class starts. We laugh and stand up and do memorization exercises during class. I just wish he'd teach the rest of my math classes.
works fast, sometimes doesn't finish chapters when teaching leaving students to self read it. Very fair; however, very strict with grading, Somewhat picky with homework but good teaching skills when it comes down to understanding him, and effort on his part.
I had hoped to do well in Gregor's class, but honestly, the guy expects WAY too much! Wants you to write out tons of homework problems word for word when he doesn't even check whether or not you've done them correctly. Difficult class when you work full time and have a full credit load!! I did ALL of my work and thought I understood but got a D :'(
Explains everything very well. I don't recommend skipping class. there is a lot of homework but it really helps when you do it
The amount of home work this guy gives is unreasonable. I take 20 credits per quarter and have a 3.8. His class alone gives me more home work then all other classes combined does. He is unwilling to help. Should be avoided.
yes he has tons of requirements but his classes are designed for you to learn the material well, not coast and get an A. doesn't let you get away with little mistakes other teachers might. he can actually stand in front and talk about math rather than just doing examples out of the text. perfect if you're serious about math and want to learn!
4-8 hrs of homework per night. G2 does not prepare you for tests nor final which was all word problems. He says he is avail but was not.
Gregor teaches to make sure you know the material well enough to do well in calculus. The other reviewers are correct in saying he assigns a lot of homework every night, but i might attribute that to the sheer volume of information you need to learn in math 111. Overall, he's a very clear and even entertaining instructor.
Favorite math teacher i've had. Stickler for detail and likes progressing through sections quickly rather than the popular slower paced methods.
Over 2-Hours of Homework each night! Consists of having to write an entire homework problem onto your paper. About 20 minutes to do quizzes each week. But grades them very strictly. Clear on lectures and explains them in excellent quality.
Terrible hw/attendance policy. Probably the hardest grader your ever gonna have.
Great at explaining things and makes it easy to understand, but is one of the hardest grading teachers that i have ever had. Makes up really hard problems for the quizes and tests and expects you to know do everything really fast
I HATED this class. i love math but he graded so unfairly and gave 4 hours or more of homework a night. He never helped and if you had a question he would always refer you to the tutoring center. I suggest anyone else...
No doubt that this class is difficult. It's the first one I've had that actually follows the "2 hours outside of class per in-class hour" rule. Nightly homework that takes a couple hours, quizzes every week, and two large tests. However, I have never had a professor that better explains things than Garrett. You won't regret taking this class.
I'm not a bad student, and I know I'm not stupid (prez list, here), but this guy is the most ridiculously demanding, heavy homework load assigning, challenging, frustrating, ivy-league level professor one could ever hope to have at a community college. Holy hell, G^2 is tough. Needless to say, he's the best teacher I've ever had.
He's not an easy A, but he's very clear on what is expected. If youre short on HW time, DON'T take him!!
DEMANDING professor! This 3 credit stats class took more time and effort than my other 2-5 credit classes put together. Homework took on average 4 hours per assignment and up to 8 hours for the hardest assignment. Arrogant professor too!
TONS of HW, about 2-3 hrs a night which seems excessive for a 3 credit class. lectures are straightforward but he's a VERY anal grader, does not answer questions about material very clearly either. i was also a little disconcerted that he did not know how to use a calculator. aren't math teachers supposed to know this? a nice guy but not easy class
He is an ok teacher. He knows his material well and he explains it well. The worst thing about the class is the amount of homework he gives. it took me 4-5 hours a night for homework. If you don't much spare time don't take him. He is very anal about his homework.
Garrett was one of the best math teachers I have ever had. I would walk out of class understanding everything. However, he assigns 1 1/2 hours of homework per night and gives extremely hard tests, plus a weekly quiz. To prove I did learn everything, when I took this class again with another professor, I got a 98% (A) and did none of the homework.
His homework load is unbearable if you have any other class or job. Which I had both. Basically you'll 3+ hours of homework, and be expected to get it all done. Grades on completeness not on Correctness. Not a big deal if it wasn't 30% of the grade. Nice guy, terrible teacher.
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, Absolutely Terrible instructor! +2 hours of homework every night added with a full credit load. Math 111 is a 5 credit class, but with him, I felt as if it was a 15 credit class. The only thing I learned from this course is to never take Gregor for any class ever again!!
I am very glad I chose Gregor for my first experience in Calculus. He uses a group learning method mixed with a little lecture some reading from the text so you get a variety a learning methods. You will do tons of homework. I thought tests were reasonable and covered what we learned (there were no "curveballs"). Overall, I highly recommend him.
Very experimental instructor. Used a new system called POGIL which can help or hurt you! Class time based in "groups" w/ ea. person assigned to a "job" per day. Groups read handouts with Gregor monitoring how quickly would make it through & instructed rarely with core concepts! POGIL is too foreign to the typical college student & NOT RECOMMENDED!
Very experimental instructor. Uses POGIL system- can help or hurt you! Which consists of "groups" where each person gets a "job" (rotates), one will read the handout he gives. The handout differs from book. Gregor walked around & "supervised" (didn't teach as much as regular prof). POGIL is too foreign to the avg. college student & NOT RECOMMENDED!
He's awesome, in my opinion! My first college math professor and I couldn't be more pleased.
Gregor was useless as a teacher. He taught nothing, he made us learn via POGIL which is a horrible way to teach. Do not take any class from Gregor.
I've never gotten less than an A before this class. He doesn't teach, you're in groups doing stuff from packets you pay for. Can't make up points for a low quiz like other classes can. AVOID at all costs, I know I could've done better in a different class where you are set up for success. I spent at least 4hrs/day doing calculus and barely passed!
This teacher is very demanding. Although he was clear in teaching the assignment, he makes you learn everything by yourself. If you have a choice... choose another teacher unless you are prepared for 3 hours of hmwk.
I dont like his teaching style for such a demanding class. As if calculus isnt hard enough, he puts everyone in groups of 4 and hands them a copy of a packet to work through together. It just isnt my learning style, reading how to do things wont help me, I need to see it done. And not by fellow students learning it along with me.
very hard class
G2's teaching style requires students to have a solid working knowledge of the math vocabulary and concepts in a given section. He has really high expectations of students, and wants them to have subject mastery as opposed to "getting the gist" of it. I'm not great at math, so that can be frustrating!
Garrett Gregor breaks everyone into groups of 4 and gives them Pogil packets thats suppose to explain how to solve problems. The problem is you have to depend on your group and hope your group is dependable. Lastly I payed for this class and expect something more than packets for my time and money.
G^2 is amazing with his explanations of the subject. Learned a lot, I just wish my grade reflected that. He's clear in what he expects, but like most students I found the workload unreasonable. Homework took 3-4hrs a night, and he is very anal about how you write your work on tests. I lost a lot of points on tests due to this, despite being right.
I advise you to not take this class. G^2 assigns homework novels where you have to literally copy the book down and do your work on to graph paper. 5 hours of homework. He does not accept anything else other than graph paper. Quizzes are worth more than the test. He grades for spelling. Almost all of the students in the class didnt pass. RUN AWAY
G^2 is very traditional in preference for long-hand ability, as opposed to what's technologically progressive. He expects 2 year college students to adopt terminology mastery as if statistics were each of their university majors.
G^2 is a very difficult professor. Lots of group work. He does do a decent job of teaching math, but expects way too much of his students. 3+ hrs of HW per night. Gave 1 quiz every week which was difficult and accounted for a huge part of the grade. Exams were very hard. Less than 1/4 of the class passed.
Do not take this teacher if you care about your GPA. Tons of homework where you have to do every problem, he makes you write down all the vocabulary questions word for word. Quizzes every Friday that are worth more than the midterm and the final. So that means test anxiety every week. Doesn't accept late homework. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER
Worst professor ever, waste of time. The jokes are corny and he wants you to succeed, under his expectations. Can't believe I wasted the last 10 weeks in this class.
If you take this class, make sure you are ready to put in hours of homework time each night. Gives way too much homework, and is very strict about attendance. If you work your butt off in this class you can get an A, so be ready to work for it. He has good lectures, and moves pretty quickly. Don't let him scare you off during the first lecture :)
Gives constant homework. He says he understands that we have jobs, families, and lives outside of his class but then will turn around and say he still expects you to do homework every day. I had to skip one of my other classes just to finish homework he gave because I had to work the day before.
While brief at times, the lectures make so much sense compared to that of a comparable Calculus I class. You work through a workbook at a table group and you end up proving a lot of the equations calculus commonly uses without realizing it, and then G^2 explains why things work the way they do. Even though it's not required, be sure to show up.
The weekly quizzes would be easy but he grades with an Iron fist. It's ironic that he "wants success for his students," yet he could care less about his class morale or our QOL (his homework is awful). It's 2019, we should be learning how to use technology in math, yet he sticks with his age-old practices that are unfamiliar to the modern student.
There are 8 quizzes, a midterm, & a final. The weekly quizzes were far too weighted on pointless stuff (like units/sketching) rather than our actual understanding of calc 4. He's available for office hours, but not someone you want to be around too long. Be super careful about minor details with him, he's "critical" to say the least.
To be honest, Garrett is a good guy, but the way his course is set up is almost designed for students to fail. There are 2 exams in the course: the mid term and the final. Both are weighted very heavily. If you don't do well on the midterm, you will spend rest off quarter digging self out of that hole. All other coursework means almost nothing.
Although Gregor (or G squared, haha) was a great professor, the workload was just too much for such a high-level class. At that point, it's the content that matters and I felt like I was wasting so much time doing the homework, quiz preps, quiz reflections, etc because I didn't really benefit from them. Definitely an overwhelming amount of work.
I would not recommend him. The class is heavily based off performance on tests and quizzes which are all timed. I failed his timed midterm exam because I felt like I did not have time to finish his exam in the time allotted. Majority of my classmates still had their exams when he called time.
Hands out typed notes for every section, so as long as you show up to class you have great notes to study from for exams and quizzes. Quizzes are easy and make up a big chunk of your grade, homework isn't that important. Great at explaining stuff. Be sure to do well on quizzes though, they can be an unpleasant surprise late in the quarter.
Although the homework does seem like a bit much at times, the extra practice helped solidify my understanding across many topics in the course. He is friendly and approachable, so don't be afraid to ask questions. He gives a list of all the homework for the entire class, so you can work ahead if you want to.
DO NOT TAKE THIS SO CALLED "PROFESSOR'S" class if you have other time commitments in your life... 40% of your grade on quizzes 30-35% on midterm and final. Gives the worst feedback imaginable almost feel like he isn't qualified to teach Calculus 3. Passed Calc 1&2 with a breeze so I know my poor performance in this class is not entirely my fault.
1. Partial credit is a lie. Says he does, doesn't 2. Won't work with you for a better grade, you get what you get. 3. Marks you down for every little thing (favorite is notation btw) The third point is the most important honestly. A tiny mistake is usually like 1/2 a point off, to him it's 80% of the problems worth.
Great teacher, medium difficult class. Quizzes and tests are majority of your grade. Is picky on notation but don't expect any less for a calc class. He prepares notes for each section so you are able to pay attention to lecture. Incorporates good study habits as a part of his curriculum by doing quiz reflections and long term review assignments.
Garret is a fair professor. All of his quizzes and tests are timed. He expects students to not only learn but to "master" the material. Homework problems are written by the students on the board every class period. Personally he is a great guy just a hard teacher. I would only recommend taking his class if you are a math major.
I took Calc 4 and Differential EQ with him, and I can say that he is a very good teacher. He combines lecture and work on packets with your group for the in-class learning, and I can say he does it very well. But, he does tend to give a lot of homework plus mandatory quiz/exam preps and reflections, but these really helped me in the long run.
If you enjoy working tirelessly on quiz prep on a weekly basis just to get an average/below average grade, blowing hundreds of dollars, and being patronized for asking for help, then you'll love G^2.
Professor Gregor is a good, caring professor. His class wasn't very easy just because it's math. But he gave plenty materials to study and made sure to reach out to students if they were struggling. Understood when personal circumstances came into play and has a very decent late policy. This class requires a lot of studying.
Guy is way to nitpicking and weights everything evenly. So no matter how much HW you do, if you fail the test you fail the class. There's really not a point in taking it and wasting money. He's a bad teacher who doesn't understand how quality teaching works. He doesn't understand the process of learning, and puts too much emphasis on memorization.
Great person and an eductaor BUT class is extremely test and quiz heavy. A couple of questions wrong can change your grade from an A to a B. Midterm and final are pretty much your entire grade, and you could spend hours mastering the topics you learn in class, and still fail easily. The homework is feasible but will take a lot of your time.
I really appreciate an understanding instructor. Garrett Gregor has been super understanding with all that is going on in the world, and is willing to help out his students anyway he can. I appreciate the helpful videos on assignments that seem to be the hardest for the class.
I think the best thing he did was he gave us lecture notes that was all important material we need to learn. We don't need spend a lot of time to read whole book, and summarize by ourselves.
He has made videos or has found videos that are really helpful and If we do not understand something he is right there to help explain and walk us through the problems.
I liked all the growth mindset/ study skill videos he has though the course it was encouraging for me just coming back into math after 8 years of being our of school. The discussions were also helpful through the course, good review for the week, and the exam. I just felt like he prepared us well for the final exam and set clear expectations.
I felt like the amount of required things to be submitted were a lot in the beginning, however now i see the benefit because it has kept me accountable and engaged on a daily basis with the class.
While teaching this course, Professor Gregor has shown prompt response time and gone above and beyond to help answer questions, provide video help and answering questions. He has done a great job showing support and understanding, with an open and available structure promoting a comfortable class environment.
Prof. Gregor is an amazing math professor. He really cares about helping students learn the material which is evident in his passion for math and teaching. Overall great guy who is super understanding and flexible who understands that students have lives outside of school. He grades tough but if you do the HW and follow his study advice its fine.
NEVER TAKE THIS. QUIZESS EVERY WEEK! Beware of your mental health
Overall good teacher, his passion for math is noteworthy and something to appreciate. Tougher material that should be taught by lecture was often done by group work. Every week there is a quiz that goes over previous material so make sure that you have a good understanding before your first class of the week
G^2 is the best math teacher I've ever had. Lectures center around printed note packets, so no worry about getting it all down. Communicative & happy to answer Qs. Quiz every week, but no trick questions & nothing that hasn't been covered in class. No attendance points, but you won't do well without attending lectures. 4/5 only bc forced group work
Tough class, with weekly quizzes that demand constant prep. Engagement and textbook use are key to doing well. unstuck study was a lifesaver for study sessions - highly recommend it alongside other resources like ChatGPT.
Wonderful proffessor! Weekly quizzes and lots of notes but if you pay attention and take the time to study his classes are a breeze. He's very kind and you can tell that he really wants to help his class succeed. There's a bit of group work but I found it constructive and helpful. Nices professor ever!
garrett is great at teaching new concepts! very collaborative class environment, so u have to figure concepts w ur group first. but to succeed in this class you do need to hold yourself accountable to prepping for quizzes/midterm/final. but hes not a harsh grader at all and truly wishes the best for his students. will def take again for calc!
Garrett Gregor was honestly so friendly and caring and you can tell he loves teaching math. I personally struggled to keep up with the fast pace, but he teaches material really well. There is a lot of homework.
Garrett is clear and personal, and his teaching method provides many opportunities to work through the concepts and practice. Anyone who engages with the work and follows his study guide will do well in the class. Showing up for every class is key.
Professor Gregor was fine, but he's not in any way suited to teach a college class. He will not treat people like responsible adults, assigning very arbitrary assignments to monitor your progress and being very strange and restrictive about seating and groups. Honestly taught the subject well, but got on my nerves. Better suited for high school.
Garrett Gregor is an excellent choice for Diffy Q. He gives you the lecture notes before class and you annotate them during class and they can be used as study guides for the exams, three per quarter, lowest replaced with final grade. This guy has a way of teaching that just makes things clear, especially for a topic as difficult as Diffy Q.
Mr. Gregor is a kind and patient teacher. I really struggle with math and this was my first math class since high school. He was very attentive, reads emails 2x a day, holds office hours a few days a week in person and is overall very helpful. I would absolutely take another math class with him.
I actually took Math097 with GG and despite my best efforts I was repeatedly encouraged to drop the class.
