The best prof . you will ever have...keeps you interested
Enthusiastic about econ and is interesting to listen to.
great prof, knows his stuff, dedicated to teaching, makes econ fun
a very good professor
Very dedicated, helpful and knowledgable professor
really good teacher... fare.
Considering I don't enjoy ECN, he did a good job of keeping me awake in lectures. Really passionate about the subject. Knowledgable & always available for extra help. Good prof, funny too.
Let's hope that Ryerson can keep this guy!
HE'S ALRIGHT...LOOKS LIKE JESUS W/ THE BEARD.
Knows his stuff, and is a fair teacher. A rare prof in which he wants his students to succeed. On a sidenote, if he wasn't a teacher, he'd be a carpenter...he looks exactly like one!
ONE OF THE BEST PROFS AT RYERSON, YOUNG GUY and HE KEEPS YOU INTERESTED, ECXELLENT PROF
u wont find another teacher like this one..TRUST ME. he actually WANTS his students to do well, not just pass. he's the best, dont take it with anyone else!!
The best teacher I've had in ryerson. Very helpfull and always has time for his students. Wants his students to succeed.
He uses a lot of online practice aids to help with topics and he is very clear in his lectures.
nice teacher.. clear lectures..looks like jesus christ..hard exams though
tough tests & exams...but he seems very enthusiastic of the course material. Oh and when he tells you that he'll let you out early, that means he'll let you out 5 mins. before class is over ;)
nice guy...you gotta work for your mark and he'll help you if you ask.
awesome prof... obsessed with donuts and coffee (supply and demand examples) and he loves using aplia assignments, very helpful for tests!!! my fav prof from first semester!!! get him if you can.
Ausome...best professor ever...he is very helpful..trust me i know. i ask so many questions and he knows his stuff. uses applia, might seem like alot but it helps u in the long rung. But this guys is the amazing, cares about you....choose him!!!!!
Helpful and amazing prof. He explains stuff clearly. just get him no matter what!!!
too enthusiastic, obnoxious....loud and too happy
i hated those aplia assignments!!!
Awesome prof and a nice nice man. Loves his subject and makes class enjoyable. Likes to challenge students and make em work a bit. Extremely user-friendly.
Great prof! Really enjoyed his class :). He is very enthusiastic and helpful.
i love this prof! he's so happy all the time, and loves what he does..
Very nice person both in and outside the classroom. His mid-term was riddled with so many mistakes that he bell curved the mark by 15 pts. In all, a good prof who cares!
prof milam is definitely the best prof i have this sem. the guy is totally fair, i mean who adds 15% to everyones midterm mark... hes very clear and obviously he enjoys what he does, his first exam was sorta tricky, but not brutal, all in all, if you have a chance to have him as ur prof, take it
good guy, shows lots of enthusiasm - makes understanding things much easier. tests are fair, especially the bell curves!
Good prof. Probably, even better if he would be able to teach in smaller classes. Plus the bell curves....the best ones.
sooooo enthusiastic, and knows how to control his class. good prof.
he loves to teach and it shows! aplia ass. were a pain,if u came to class and rad the notes before hand u were set. always bell-curves and treis his best ot have a class avg of 60%. Good prof!
LOVED HIM, he is my best prof so far....great person and teacher
A great prof. knew what he was talking about and taught it well, made sure u understand by using aplia, always bellcurved the class up. stick with him u will be ok
AWESOME TEACHER=)the way all prof. should be =)
He's GREAT....Very clear, friendly and if u ever have any questions he's always willing to answer ur questions without making u feel like ur questions are a burden to him. His tests are fair and listen to his examples and hints, theyre very helpful. All profs at ryerson should be like him!
Good teacher, don't see why people think he's hot though . . . God Bless him for those bell curves on exams/mid terms
A very fair professor, if you do th work, you will be rewarded. Loves the material which is evident through his teachings.
His enthusiasm borders on annoyance! Going to his class is pointless if it aint a test! Mid-terms were easy, the final was tough!

the best
Very Clear and fair. You can really learn from him and he really cares about his teaching. You can get a decent mark.
amazing prof, so many fun in his class, and his lectures are never boring
If you have the pleasure of having him, God is on your side. No one has ever made Economics more fun.
Wicked Teacher!
seriously i dont understand a damn thing that goes on in this class... no matter how hard u try to listen it goes right over your head, regardless of whether or not he tries to make it fun, not to mention the way he destroys the graphs so that in a month when u look at your notes u have no idea what you wrote
Xcellent Prof!! Do yourself a favour and take his class. Easy B if you dont slack.
Very good teacher, easy to get A
As long as you go to class and do the work, it's a breeze...Finals was a bit tricky though.
Good lecturer, easy exams, whats not to like!
Prof. Milam was really nice, approachable, and helpful if you had any questions, but he was really tough. Probably the hardest Economics prof. But he knows what he's talking about, and you learn a lot in his class.

Me- "Excuse me professor Milam, I need help" Milam- "go tothe economics help centre." Me- "where is it?" Milam- "I don't know!"
Hard tests, not a lot of the material matched up in class and with the online textbook. Online readings made it extremely hard to follow. Class notes were hard to follow too. Confusing and frustrating.
One of the best professors at Ryerson!!! Enthusiastic and knowledgeable on subject matter -- will relate topics to real life issues. Great class discussions. Good teaching style. Exams reflected materials covered in lectures. A really enjoyable class for me.
One of the most enthusiastic teachers ever. I would HIGHLY recommend him for anyone considering Econ mjr, as his 170 course requires a ton of work compared to other profs, but you'll leave with a higher level of understanding that will pay off in future econ courses (I've heard this from other students too). He's ALWAYS willing to help.
Amazing professor. Really cares about economics and how well you do, offers you a million safety nets to make sure you do well. Significantly harder than te other econ classes but well worth it. Tests involve application of the material he covers in class, not ridiculous nitpicky details. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED. Turned me into an econ major.
Great professor. Enthusiastic, holds attention, great teacher. Also a fair grader. I hope to take more classes from him in the future.
I took him for econ 170 and then for 291. Milam is one of the best teachers you will have in your life. His classes are significantly harder than any other econ teacher's but he is so interesting you will want to do the work. Tests are on application of material not ridiculous details. If you have the chance TAKE HIS CLASSES.
In all honestly, I didn't get the best grade in his class, but i would give Milam an A+. He's SUPER friendly, smart, and tries to make the class fun. I would recommend him to anyone! Plus...he's kind of a fox.
Before this class I did not have much knowledge or interest in economics, but I found it to be an awesome class. Prof. Milam is challenging, but you learn a lot. Great class, even for those who aren't econ majors.
He packs a lot of information into one class and is very thorough. But if you don't understand something, he is extremely helpful outside of class. Lectures always follow textbook work. And the class structure is simple, consistent, and easy to follow.
I took his Behavioral Economics course and it was amazing! One of the most interesting and fun classes I've ever taken. Probably only fun because I'm an econ major though. if you aren't, this class is not an easy A, it took a lot of work but if you like econ or psych, you will enjoy this class, plus Milam is a good lecturer and he's hilarious.
Milam's class is definitely hard, but not impossible. The tests are long, but as long as you go in prepared, they are not too bad. He's really good at explaining things, and his lectures are very clear. He also engages the class in the lecture, so reading the book is a must.
He is super nice and helpful! his tests are tough though, and he's a tough grader. But micro theory does take a lot of thinking power. He does curve grades though, so that's nice. He loves teaching, and he tries to bring a lot of energy to class. We did an activity once and I won $4.
Milam is passionate about Econ and always has the answer to any question. He is a great teacher and is extremely helpful during office hours. However, his tests are hard and require a lot of studying. You cover a lot of material and reading the textbook is very helpful. Homework is not like the quizzes which are not like the tests.
Milam is a really tough professor but you learn a ton! He calls on you in class so do the reading. His tests are hard and long but if you pay attention and don't slack on the reading then you'll do fine. He's a brilliant professor and is always willing to help out in office hours.
He is an extremely hard teacher. His quizzes are easy but his tests are way too long, way too hard and graded very harshly. Extensive textbook reading is the only way to stay alive as his lectures can be hard to understand. He knows his stuff but isn't always the best at passing on that knowledge. You do end up learning a lot though. The hard way.
Garrett is a great guy, don't get me wrong. However, his lectures are disjoint, they don't fit well into what he will ask on homework and he never reviews tough material with students. When I go in for his office hours, it is difficult to get a clear answer from him. I would not take this class again if I had the chance.
I was really excited to take Game Theory, but Garrett has proven to be disappointing. His lectures are informative, but he can act as if he understands the material less than his students do. He is very bad with feedback on assignments; he will mark you down without pointing out the mistake. Maybe take him for another class but not Game Theory
Professor doesn't know their material. Assignments, lectures, and readings do not work together making homework difficult, and labs tedious. There is 1 term paper which is pretty easy (8 pgs) and the tests are brutal. If you already like Garett, take the class, if not then don't.
Milan is hot. So that is nice. However, he is a HARD GRADER on tests. You really, really, need to be attentive in class and fully understand the readings. You CANNOT blow through this class. I tried and got a C, after a minor panic and exorbitant amount of work by the final. Milan is not lax, but he's the best of the best in econ classes.
He's a really cool, funny, and helpful professor. Lectures are easy to follow if you consistently do the reading. His tests were focused solely on the lectures so it's important to be engaged during class. He cares a lot about people's understanding of the material and was exceptionally helpful! I enjoyed his classes very much!
Class sign up did not say that micro would be needed as a pre-req. As a result I have no idea what is going on
His lectures were always really interesting, although they were pretty long. He expects participation in class, so reading is really important. His tests are awfully hard, but he gives good feedback on them.
Milam is a nice guy, but he really needs to work on his clarity and organization. The syllabus has no assignment due dates - everything is posted on Moodle, usually with only a few days notice. Had no idea how to pace myself/what to expect throughout the semester. His instructions are also super confusing on assignments, tests, and labs.
Very good teacher, is very fond of the subject which shows through his teaching.
Look, he is a very passionate prof and that's cool, but there's little to no organization of his class and he's a very tough grader. He is helpful in office hours - meaning he teaches much better 1 on 1 than he does to a whole class. He turned a class that I thought would be super interesting into a boring, limiting, not so great class.
Terrible. Take another prof if you can. So disorganized, in lecture and in the class as a whole. He is clearly very smart but does not communicate well to a whole class. He grades really hard, has a very particular thing in mind and you probably don't know what it is. Would not recommend.
Avoid him. The entire semester was entirely a lecture. We maybe did some in class exercises twice. Then he dumps a take home final on us with a bunch of crap we never even had the opportunity to practice. Expected us to harness info he dumped months before, but never had us work with. This teaching style should be illegal, it doesnt promote learnin
Great professor who is very passionate about his material. He is engaging and makes the topics interesting and applicable.
Dr Milam is a solid prof. His class is lecture focused and you do really have to go to lecture, but the information you need is there. The assignments and exams are hard but office hours helps a lot. Tough grader. Generally, he has high expectations but the class was worth it. Really interesting course.
Garrett is absolutely amazing. He's super passionate about what he teaches. He finds ways to make what he teaches relevant to current issues by asking students to bring news and current events to class. The textbook project seems daunting but I found it to be very fun. Any questions you have are happily addressed via email or in office hours.
Milam is a lecture heavy professor. His board notes are hard to read, but he just is passionate about econ! I didn't think 101 was fun, but I assume he's better in upper level. Links topics to current events and works in good discussion. His tests are a good challenging that push you to learn and introduce you to standard econ test set up.
Milam is one of the best professors I've had. He is so knowledgable so he sometimes gets ahead of himself, but it's so clear that he cares about the success of every student. His lectures are engaging and interesting. He's a fair grader and if you pay attention in class and do the HW you'll do good on the tests. You won't regret a class with him!
Milam is a pretty good professor if you're willing to put in effort. Although his exams are challenging, his expectations are clear. It's also nice that a majority of the assignments other than the exams are pretty easy so they're a good cushion for grades.
Garrett is a nice person, but his teaching style and grading was extremely difficult for me to deal with. Classes are repetitive, his handwriting is hard to read and all he does during lecture is write on the board. His tests were completely different from the study guide and he is a stickler when grading. Avoid taking his class.
