WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL teacher!! He makes the classroom a great learning atmosphere!! He is very kind, and will go out of his way to help you understand the language. He is also very kind in general and will try to help you in any way he can!

Awesome teacher! He does a great job at covering material, and uses many teaching methods to appeal to all students. Fun class very fair and understanding prof. Tests and quiz are frequent and cover class material, very easy to do well if you put in time and attend class. I hope to have him again in future spanish classes.

Garry tutored me with spanish last year, and i dont believe i've ever met a nicer person! he is all smiles all the time- he'll help you until he really thinks you understand. i was frusterated and ready to give up on something and i think he sensed it so he took a different approach and then i got it! he's awesome!

Mr. Merritt is the dopest teacher. He's super chilled out, very enthusiastic, doesn't stress homework or due dates(which takes a lot of pressure off the students) and the most helpful teacher I've ever had in any grade.

Garry is a wonderful teacher!! He is very understanding and extremely helpful. He really does want his students to do well in his class. He is easy to talk to, always smiling and upbeat. I would definitely recommend taking his class.

He helps you learn the language and makes class so much fun. He only gives worksheets ever so often as homework, but they are easy. I definitely RECOMMEND this class.

Mr. Merritt is the best span professor at GSC. He really loves what he does. While the material can be challenging at times, He is always there to encourage and help with what you do not understand. We took 3 test, had 6 journals, plus daily/quiz grades(easy) and then a comprehensive final, he also excepts late work. You will want to go to class.

Class was informative. Material was explained clearly. Mr. Merritt is a very helpful teacher and understands what it is like to be a student and still work. He is a fair teacher. What he teaches is exactly whats on the test. I knew no Spanish when I started his class and ended up knowing common phrases and expressions to help in communicating.

Mr. Merritt was one of the best professors I have ever had! He gives a lot of grades, so if you make a few bad grades it won't affect you grade much. He is also always available for help. He doesn't give much homework and grades tests and quizzes fairly. I still go to his office all the time just to visit.

Mr. Merritt is the best teacher I have had in my entire school career. He truly loves teaching and wants his students to succeed more than anything. I didn't have an interest in Spanish when I first started, but Mr. Merritt has competely turned that around. I have taken two classes with him so far and plan on taking as many more as I can take!

He's my favorite professor. He was absolutely wonderful, so helpful and always willing to help out a student. The worst thing you can do is take advantage of his kindness. A Professor should be one that students can come to for absolutely anything and he is just that! TAKE HIM!

SPAN 1001 was a very easy course. Prof. Merritt thoroughly explained everything and taught the course at a doable pace. The tests were easy as well as the vocabulary quizzes.

Mr. Merritt taught this class so that everyone could understand. He taught it so that people who have never even heard spanish in their lives could understand the material. That is what made this class so great. The only thing you need to worry about in his class is making sure you complete your lab hours and not waiting until the last minute.

Merritt is helpful, passionate about his subject, and always focused on helping his students succeed. Plus he doesn't get leave students behind and makes sure that every single concept is understood before moving on the next, which is always a great thing.

This teacher is awesome!!! I have had him for 3 of my 4 Spanish classes. He is very clear, very laid back, and will help you anyway he can even if it cuts into his office hours. Hw is easy, attendance is not mandatory but I recommend not to skip class. Best teacher I have had at GSC!!!!!

Amazing teacher, I would seriously recommend him to anyone. Text book use is high, so make sure to buy it. He gives a lot of clues on his tests which make them easy, you just have to know what to look for. Very aware of the "college student life" and takes that into consideration when it comes to turning things in. FUNNY GUY! WORTH TAKING!

Pretty cool and easy guy. I did great on tests if i studied and you could definitly tell when i didnt. Good teacher, easy. You do need textbook but mainly the all the online stuff that comes with the pricy book.

He's a very good professor. Especially if you aren't good at Spanish, he always helps and his tests are super easy. He gives you a study guide before every test that is basically identical to the test. My only complaint is that I made A's on everything, but I was quiet and shy in class so he gave me a B. He really wants you to participate.

You HAVE to have the code for Vistas, there's no way around it. There are 3 tests, 2 compositions, oral final, daily grades, and 6 labs. Lots of quizzes and the labs are annoying... good teacher most tests followed the formate he gives

If you need extra help, 99% of the time you can find him in his office and he will stop everything he is doing to give you one on one tutoring! Prof. Merritt is the best Spanish teacher at UNG . However, don't think that you're going to walk in and come out with a good grade. You have to work for it. One of the best professors I've had! I was so scared to take Spanish because its not a strong subject for me but he made things very understandable. Easy to talk to and cares so much about each student. Show up, do labs and homework and STUDY for test/vocab quizes! Also memorize all the questions and answers for oral exam and you will do great!

Amazing teacher! Will work with you, and he gives so much feedback on test. Has a lot of work outside of test that can help bring your grade up. If you forget to do your homework he will let you turn in it later in the day so you have time to do it. Would 100% take again and I was very disappointed when i saw he wasnt teaching Spanish 1002

The hardest part of this class is the labs, which he has very little to do with. But, no matter who you take, you'll have to do them, so take Merritt. He is an absolute gem, one of the kindest people and a fabulous teacher. You do have to put in some work, but he gives you all you need to succeed

I really enjoyed taking his class even though language doesn't come naturally to me. His lectures are entertaining and very helpful. I would highly recommend going to all of them. He gives you the test format a week or two before the test and of very similar to the tests given. I would highly recommend him to anyone that has to take Spanish.

Professor Merrit is an amazing professor and I would take him again. He gives 3 tests, which he hands out formats for each test with relatable material. Vocal quizzes often. 2 writing compositions and a speaking final. Would recommend him for anyone without any Spanish history!

RECOMMENDED I took his class to fulfill my core class but ended up learning few things. There are 6 Labs in total and they are very ANNOYING. Get yourself a good partner and stick with them. Do the homework first b/c they are long and sucks. He gives to the format for tests, study them and will be fine. Do well on quiz and daily works. THEY COUNT!

He is heavy on homework and talks in Spanish for almost the entire class period. He is really nice and if you study, his tests and quizzes are fairly easy. He is always in his office and he loves to talk to his students outside of class. I would definitely take him again. He really does not like you to use your phone at all in his class.

Professor Garry was hands down one the best professors I've ever had! He makes learning Spanish easy. I didn't have a Spanish background but he made sure he taught you everything. Tests and quizzes were fairly easy if you study and come to class. He gives a test format a week or two before test so it gives you plenty of time to study.

Learning a new language is hard, but Professor Merritt makes it so much easier. You will learn more from his lectures than on your own. He is always available to help outside of class. His exams do not make the subject harder than it should be. If you choose not to participate verbally in class, you will make the class harder.

Professor Merritt is my favorite professor by far. Even though I took this class online, he went out of his way to provide email videos in order to help us. There was a lot of homework, gives great study guides, quick responses, and is funny. Hes a great teacher with a great attitude. I would take his classes again. 10 out of 10.

Prof. Gary gives a lot of homework! He's a very chill guy. But if you skip one class, expect an email with him threatening to drop you out of his class regardless of the excuse. He isn't very tech-savvy so his assignments online tend to be a bit confusing. Decent at best.

One of THE BEST professors you can take at UNG. 10/10 would recommend taking him!. Unless you dont turn in anything at all theres no way you can fail. Hes THE kindest human ever. Easy to talk to and always ready to help on anything. Responds to emails fast too. TAKE HIM! You wont regret it. But please actually try in the class and be nice!

Even with all the added stress, he made learning interesting, fun, enjoyable... He is very caring. Please go to your assigned classes and access the language lab. He makes himself available. Prof. Merritt genuinely wants his students to take something away from his classes. Its the first spanish class that I have had that did not feel like conjugations and translations were just being shoved down my throat. If you come to class, listen and study, its no problem to come out with an A.

He really wants students to succeed, and it was an easy A if you took HS Spanish! He doesn't give out a ton of homework, the exams are super easy (with bonus problems and great study guides). The lectures weren't a game-changer for me, but they were helpful! Not extremely organized, but this class was pretty easy for a non-native speaker like me.

Professor Merritt is AMAZING! He understands that Foreign Language does not come easy for everyone. Each class he goes back over what he covered in the previous class. He was a great professor, very caring and understanding. There are a lot of assignments, but they are pretty easy and pretty much take no time. He understands we have lives/jobs too and gives more than enough time to finish assignments. If you don't know much Spanish, I would recommend him because he doesn't expect you to know a lot coming in.

He's just a really good dude. He made it clear at the beginning of the semester that the class was gonna be very difficult but he would try his best to get us through it, and that's exactly what he did. He really tries to not make it boring. He's also very lenient. I literally missed the final exam and he let me make it up with no penalty lol...

Professor Merritt is an outstanding Spanish instructor. He truly cares about his students' success and provides excellent resources like study guides to support learning. While the coursework is challenging, unstuckstudy was a helpful tool for exam prep alongside the textbook.

He was really sweet. I had to drop out of his class because I was really struggling mentally and was about to move. He prayed over me and was super kind and understanding.

Idiots tried to take advantage of his kindness, which pissed me off because he is very lenient on late work. Be Honest, truthful, and TRY, and you will get an A. Professor Merritt is a nice guy, he cares about his students doing well. He teaches the content pretty well, you will need to put in an effort outside of class but if you do the work and study you will receive a good grade.

He's flexible on due dates and really wants you to succeed. At the end of the semester, he's been giving us decently easy paper homework to turn in to boost our grade which is nice. Study for the tests, which he gives very clear study guides for, and you'll be good.

I honestly believe this is the best professor I have ever had. He is funny and is never at a loss for sound effects. He's very animated so it made it easy to understand him even through he only spoke Spanish. He's very understanding and kind. He understands life is difficult sometimes and will give leeway where it's needed.

One of the better Spanish professors I've had at UNG. He really made learning Spanish fun, and you can tell he had his students' best interests in mind.

Prof. Merritt is awesome! He maybe ramble.a bit too long about his personal life at times, but nothing that is TMI or too irrelevant to his lectures. I loved how enthusiastic and passionate he was about the content he taught and he genuinely cares about his class succeeding, stating repeatedly that he is available for tutoring anytime.
